WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan gained worldwide recognition for his role as Thunderlips, a pro wrestling champion who battled Rocky Balboa in the 1982 film Rocky III.
Last week, a company called Big Blondes, LLC filed a trademark for the name Thunderlips.
“Entertainment, namely, services rendered by a professional wrestler in the nature of personal appearances, wrestling matches and acting.
The name(s), portrait(s), and/or signature(s) shown in the mark identifies Terry Bollea, whose consent(s) to register is made of record.”
Big Blondes is the company that owns the trademark for “Hogan’s Beach” in Florida.
Don’t expect to see WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania. The 12-time world champion will be in Orlando during Mania weekend, but confirmed on Thursday night that he has no plans to attend WWE’s biggest show of the year.

Hulk Hogan and the WWE cut ties when recordings of Hogan using racially charged language were made public last year. The recordings led to Hogan’s lawsuit against Gawker Media which ended up bankrupting the company. Throughout the trial, Hogan had to demonstrate how badly his leaked sex tape (featuring the racist comments) hurt his ability to earn revenue. WWE severing ties with him was a clearcut way to show that the recordings harmed him financially. Whether WWE cut ties with him because they didn’t want to be associated with him because of the recordings, or to help Hogan show damages in his lawsuit is something probably only Vince McMahon knows.
With the lawsuit over, it’s been widely speculated that an Hogan will wind up back in WWE sooner than later. Apparently WWE didn’t think the time was right for the Hulkster to walk that aisle one more time just yet.
Hulk Hogan will be in Orlando during WrestleMania weekend. The wrestling legend will be expanding his Hogan’s Beach Shop by opening a location in Orlando, FL. The grand opening is on March 30th, and Hogan will be in town doing autograph signings through April 4th.
Hogan has reportedly been in talks with WWE about how they can reconcile after his 2015 firing for the racial slurs on his leaked sex tape. Hogan successfully sued Gawker Media for publishing the sex tape, and reportedly received a settlement in December.
WrestleMania 33 takes place on April 2nd at the Camping World Stadium.

Laila Ali, former professional boxer and the daughter of Muhammad Ali, recently opened up about Hulk Hogan’s claim that a phone call from her stopped him from committing suicide in 2007. This week on The Tomorrow Show Ali said she found out about Hogan’s claim when a friend called her after seeing him say it on TV.
“I haven’t talked to him since so I’m like, ‘wow, I saved your life and you don’t even call me!” Ali told The Tomorrow Show. “I haven’t talked to him since that whole story broke. We didn’t have a big relationship, but I’m saying if you’re going to say it publicly you should’ve maybe said something to me because I had no idea he was about to say anything. But it’s not a big deal, what can I say? I can’t say much, I’m glad I saved his life. Love you Hulk!”
During a promotional tour for his 2009 book My Life Outside The Ring, Hogan said after his divorce he spent two days “sitting in the bathroom with a gun and a bottle of rum.” He told Meredith Vieira on NBC’s Today that Ali’s voice saved his life.
“All of a sudden the phone rang, and it was Laila,” Hogan recalled on Today. “She said, ‘Hey, what’s going on? You’re on the set. You’re all depressed. We’re worried about you. You going to be OK?'” Hogan said, which also was recounted in his book, My Life Outside the Ring. “She called with no agenda, just to say hi and check on me. It snapped me out of it. At that moment I switched gears. I got sick and tired of being sick and tired. Her voice saved my life, it really did.”
A longtime Hulk Hogan fan named “Tye Dye Guy” was forced to switch seats by security at last night’s RAW in Tampa. You may have heard chants for Hogan during RAW, which were done because the fan was dressed as The Hulkster.
Hogan himself actually responded to the snub on Twitter:

WWE brought back the Axelmania gimmick for Curtis Axel at Tuesday’s RAW house show in St. Louis, MO. Axel teamed with Golden Truth, Sin Cara and Darren Young to defeat The Shining Stars, Bo Dallas, Titus O’Neil and Jinder Mahal.
WWE previously dropped the gimmick for Axel when the company distanced itself from Hulk Hogan when the racist comments scandal first hit. Now that Hogan’s case with Gawker has been settled, there’s been talk of he and WWE getting back to a working relationship once again. This is another sign of the two getting back to good terms.
Below is a photo of Axel working the gimmick last night:
Hulk Hogan should be getting paid his $31 million settlement from Gawker Media any day now, but now he has another legal matter to deal with: A band of thieves of drove up to steal a package that has been delivered to his front door. WFLA-TV posted the above video from Saturday afternoon, when a few people drove up to Hogan’s home in Clearwater Beach, Florida, ran up the stairs as the car drove away, took the package that was laying at the front doorstep, and fled on foot.

A Manhattan federal judge has signed off on a bankruptcy plan for Gawker that includes a $31 million payout to Hulk Hogan. The WWE Hall of Famer is expected to receive the money before the end of 2016.
Gawker was forced into bankruptcy when Hogan tried to collect on a $140 million jury award back in June after Gawker posted video of Hogan having sex with Bubba the Love Sponge’s wife. That award included $60 million for emotional distress, $55 million for economic damages and $25 million in punitive damages.
Gawker attorney Gregg Galardi called the $31 million settlement for Hogan very favorable because it’s just a fraction of the $140 million he was awarded.

– TMZ Sports recently caught up with Brooke Hogan again and as you can see in the video below, she’s not exactly denying the recent WrestleMania claims she made about Hulk Hogan. As reported before, Brooke previously told TMZ that WWE had called her dad about a possible WrestleMania return but Hulk later denied those claims and said Brooke was just stirring the pot. Several sources have reported a different story as Hogan has definitely had recent talks with WWE about moving forward together. When asked if Hogan will use his Gawker money to fund Brooke’s new women’s wrestling promotion, Brooke says she’s trying to make him proud by doing everything on her own. She teases more news on that promotion in the near future.

Despite this week’s denial that he is in talks with WWE about a potential return, PWInsider is reporting Hulk Hogan is in talking with company officials about how they can move forward and work together again.
Hogan was in New York City a few weeks back for an unrelated project, but it’s believed that Hogan was filmed for future WWE Network programming.
Earlier this week Hogan appeared on Eric Bischoff’s podcast and responded to a recent WrestleMania return tease his daughter Brooke Hogan made to TMZ Sports. Hogan told Bischoff, “Brooke’s running around on TMZ and made the statement about me and wrestling and WrestleMania. For the record, she needs the big boot to the head. I haven’t talked to anybody about WrestleMania. I just need to put that to rest.”
Hogan alleges Brooke simply wanted to get people talking about him back in WWE and wasn’t upset she was spreading misinformation because “it was all in good fun.”
Hulk Hogan recently appeared on Eric Bischoff’s new MLW Radio podcast and dismissed his daughter Brooke’s claims that he’s talking to WWE about a WrestleMania 33 return. However according to a new report, Hogan may be working on some new WWE Network content.
“Brooke’s running around on TMZ and made the statement about me and wrestling and WrestleMania,” Hogan said on Bischoff’s podcast. “For the record, she needs the big boot to the head. I haven’t talked to anybody about WrestleMania. I just need to put that to rest. I asked Brooke, “What are you doing?” She goes, “Oh, well, I’m just starting it up.” I said, “Thanks Brooke.” It was kind of funny. I said, “No harm. No foul.” It was all in good fun.”
Hogan may not be in talks for WrestleMania, but according to a new report by PWInsider he could be involved in new material for the WWE Network. Hogan reportedly traveled to New York City in late October and it’s believed that he was there to film content for unknown WWE Network programming. According to PWInsider, Hogan and WWE have been in contact about ways they can move forward and work together again.
As previously noted, WWE had begun using Hogan’s voice in Network commercials in recent months. This was the first use of Hogan since his firing over racist language used in his sex tape.

WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan was Eric Bischoff’s guest on this week’s Bischoff On Wrestling podcastto discuss Donald Trump becoming President-elect, rumors that Hogan is in talks with WWE about a potential return and more.
Hogan’s daughter Brooke recently told TMZ that people from WWE have been in talks with Hulk about returning, possibly in time for WrestleMania 33. When asked about the situation, Hulk clarified:
“Brooke’s running around on TMZ and made the statement about me and wrestling and WrestleMania. For the record, she needs the big boot to the head. I haven’t talked to anybody about WrestleMania. I just need to put that to rest. I asked Brooke, ‘What are you doing?’ She goes, ‘Oh, well, I’m just starting it up.’ I said, ‘Thanks Brooke.’ It was kind of funny. I said, ‘No harm. No foul.’ It was all in good fun.”
Other topics discussed include:
– The wild election night that ended with Donald Trump as President
– Fans who try to tie the NWO and illuminati together
– Hulks own memories of Donald Trump
– Goldberg’s return to WWE
– How he would have setup the program between Brock Lesnar and Bill Goldberg
On Monday, I examined how Hulk Hogan returning to WWE for a WrestleMania appearance may not be as cut and dry as WWE welcoming him back once his lawsuits against Gawker are officially settled. The sex tape leak itself had never really damaged Hogan; the publication of his racist comments in July 2015 was what made him a pariah. In May, he filed a lawsuit against everyone who he believed was involved with blackmailing him with the recording of his comments and later leaking the transcript to the National Enquirer, including Gawker. In light of settling both cases with Gawker, the big question becomes whether or not Hogan wants to keep the second case going against the other defendants, since that would keep the story of the racist comments alive in the media.
Early Tuesday afternoon, we got the answer, as David Houston, Hogan’s personal attorney, confirmed via email that “Gawker will be settled in both cases[,] not the other unrelated defendants in case two.” “Case two” is the aforementioned lawsuit over the extortion and leaking allegations. The remaining defendants include those named by FBI & Tampa Police as being involved the alleged blackmail scheme along with various associates in the radio community who he believes were also involved with the Enquirer leak. Thanks to Gawker’s bankruptcy, the lawsuit had been on hold since about a month after it was filed.
Analysis: This really feels like a miscalculation on Hogan’s part. With the Gawker settlement, the story about the racist remarks was going to fade away to a mainstream media who largely conflated the two cases. Now? He’s keeping it alive and literally in the public record. While it’s understandable that he would want to go after his alleged blackmailers, as he wanted them prosecuted and they weren’t (for reasons that have not been made public), it’s a potentially disastrous calculation from a public relations point of view.
With this in mind, does WWE continue easing him back to the company, or do they avoid going further than recording WWE Network documentary talking heads with him, like they have done recently? The safer route is the latter, or maybe even outright cutting ties again.
As soon as it was announced that Hulk Hogan had come to terms on a $31 million settlement of his lawsuit against Gawker, wrestling fans immediately began speculating about his return to WWE. Fueling the fire, Brooke Hogan told TMZ that her dad is already in negotiations to return at WrestleMania 33, while on last week’s Bauer and Pollock podcast, Court Bauer reported that Hogan has recently been taping talking head segments for WWE Network programming. The idea of the latter is that whenever they air, it’s under the radar enough that WWE can ease into bringing Hogan back, plus viewers don’t really know when those clips are filmed, anyway.
Having said all that, it’s not as if settling the sex tape lawsuit is/was the only hurdle for Hogan’s return. After all, it was, in and of itself, never the issue. The Gawker post didn’t hurt his career; last year’s National Enquirer article revealing his racist comments on a different sex tape (I subsequently located the audio for some of it in April) did. While they’re connected and the lawsuit being settled does chip away at the legs of the racist comments story, the settlement (if approved by the bankruptcy and trial judges) may not be the end for a few reasons.
The biggest is that Hogan still has a lawsuit outstanding that’s centered on the original leak of the racist comments. Filed in May in the same court as the Gawker lawsuit, it named not just the now-bankrupt blog empire (which Hogan alleged was the Enquirer’s source despite no compelling evidence), but also everyone who he believes was involved with the original sex tape leak to Gawker as well as a subsequent extortion attempt using all of the videos as bait. If that lawsuit keeps going, it’s going to keep the topic of his racist comments in the public eye for as long as the case lasts.
So is it gonna keep going?
That’s hard to say right now. Obviously the claim against Gawker, which was tenuous in the first place, is being dropped soon. When reached for comment, Gawker attorney Rachel Fugate said she had “no clue” if Hogan would be dropping the case against the other defendants. Charles Harder, Hogan’s lead attorney on the Gawker cases, did not return a request for comment. So it likely comes down to this: Did Hogan file the second lawsuit as part of the deal with Peter Thiel to drive Gawker out of business (with the others as collateral damage, albeit people who Hogan had no problem suing), or would he have pursued this case regardless?
While it ramped up after he started needing money in the aftermath of his son’s car wreck and his first wife filing for divorce, Hogan has been a very litigious man for going on two decades now. Ever since he filed an extortion lawsuit against the woman he sued him alleging that he sexually assaulted her the weekend before the first episode of Monday Nitro, he’s been relented. Last year, Amanda Hess wrote this in an article about the sex tape case at Slate:
Hogan is easily aggrieved. When a woman accused him of sexual battery, he sued her; when his ex-wife Linda alleged domestic abuse in her memoir, he sued her; when a series of back surgeries stopped Hogan from inking a last-hurrah wrestling contract, he sued the surgeon; when his auto insurance failed to cover the cost of his tipsy teenage son recklessly driving his sports car into a tree, causing permanent brain damage to a passenger, Hogan sued his insurance company; when that didn’t work, he sued Linda, too, for not forcing him to be better insured; when Hogan’s lawyers sent the bill for their services, he sued them as well.
That’s definitely missing plenty of cases, too. So it’s easy to make an argument for why he would continue to pursue the second lawsuit, but it’s just as easy to argue that it was primarily part of the plan to sink Gawker. The only mark against the latter is that if Hogan’s lawyers foresaw Gawker filing bankruptcy a month after they filed the suit (and it’s starting to look more and more like they did), then the second lawsuit was unlikely to push them further in that direction.
Until they know for sure whether or not this case is going away, though, it’s likely too risky for WWE to bring Hogan back as a an actual character, and not just a talking head on canned streaming shows. If the case is still going, then Hogan’s racist comments will literally be an ongoing issue in the public record until the case is resolved.
WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has checked in with his latest blog update, which you can read in its entirety over at JRsBarBQ.com. JR spoke with Chris Jericho on Monday morning and got Jericho’s side of the story regarding his backstage altercation that took place over the weekend at a WWE live event in the United Kingdom.
“Chris said it was largely about nothing and that it resembled more of a scuffle than a full fledged fight. Sin Cara threw one punch and then the minor melee was broken up. Tensions often times rise on these extended, international tours which can bring out the worst in people. This scrap apparently occurred on the bus in route to Glasgow. At the end of the day, it was seemingly much to do about not that much on a slow news day online.”
JR also commented on the prospect of Hulk Hogan returning to WWE and appearing at WrestleMania 33 next April. He feels WWE (like any other entity) needs all the star power they can muster for their biggest show of the year.
“Seems like good marketing to me and something I that I’d concur with without any reservations. Hogan’s an icon, the Babe Ruth of his era, and would appeal to many fans who will engage the April 2, 2017 event. I think that it would be fun for many fans to see the red and yellow front and center at Wrestlemania because after all he did have a significant hand in helping build the brand that changed the business. ”
Hulk Hogan could be back in WWE in time for WrestleMania 33, according to Hogan’s daughter and former TNA personality Brooke Hogan. TMZ Sports recently caught up Brooke, who dropped the bombshell that Hulk is currently in negotiations for a return.
Brooke says people from WWE have been calling her father about a possible WrestleMania appearance. Now that Hogan’s sex tape fiasco has been settled and the heat from his racism scandal has died down, we might see the red and yellow running wild once again.
In recent months, we’ve seen Hulk Hogan gradually eased back onto WWE programming via WWE Network programming and ads for the WWE Network. Hogan’s public image has taken a serious hit over the past few years, but WWE officials apparently feel the time is right for redemption.
WrestleMania 33 takes place on Sunday, April 2nd, 2017 from Orlando, FL.
In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, Scott Hall says that fellow Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan will return to WWE again. WWE removed Hogan’s name from almost everything they could last July after transcripts with racial slurs from his sex tape leaked online. Recently the company started using a clip of Hogan’s voice in a WWE Network commercial, which lead some fans to speculate that the company is opening up to working with him again.
Hall firmly believes that Hogan will once again work for the McMahon empire. When asked, he definitively answered, “Yes, Hulk will be back.” The former Intercontinental Champion says that if WWE’s door isn’t open for Hulk again yet, it should be soon.
“After a thirty-three year relationship with the WWE, he had a bad day—and that bad day was nearly ten years ago,” Hall explained. “That sex tape happened during a brutal time in his life. He was going through a divorce, his son Nick was in a car crash, paralyzed his buddy, and was facing jail time. His daughter was starting her hip-hop career, and Hulk was backing that, paying money out of his own pocket for that. The whole world was coming down on him, and he slipped up. He said the wrong thing. I’ve been around Hulk a lot and never seen that side of him. I’ve only seen a kind, generous guy.”
Hall also touched on some of his experiences with Hogan in the now-defunct WCW. He shared a story about Hogan’s long-rumored “creative control” coming into play in his career. In late ’97, Hall won a 60-man battle royal, which should have earned him a WCW World Title shot in the main event at SuperBrawl.
“I won at World War 3, and I was supposed to get the title shot at SuperBrawl,” explained Hall. “That was traditionally a big draw for WCW, and I was supposed to be the main event there vs. Sting. But Hulk c***blocked that and he took the main event spot and I never got the title match. That’s WCW in a nutshell.”
Bankruptcy court records filed on Wednesday related to the liquidation of Gawker Media reveal the company is settling with Hulk Hogan for $31 million.
Earlier this year, Hulk Hogan was awarded $115 ($60 million for emotional damages, $55 million in lost wages) after the trial over Gawker publishing a sex tape featuring the WWE legend. Hogan was later awarded an additional $25.1 million in punitive damages ($15 million from Gawker Media, $10 million from founder Nick Denton and $100,000 from former editor A.J. Daulerio).
In addition to the $31 million settlement, Forbes’ Ryan Mac reports Hogan will also get a % of the proceeds from the liquidation.
Gawker founder Nick Denton issued a statement on statement reacting to the settlement, noting that it was time to put his 4-year legal battle with Hogan behind him.
“Yes, we were confident the appeals court would reduce or eliminate the runaway Florida judgment against Gawker, the writer of the Hogan story and myself personally,” Denton wrote. “And we expected to prevail in those other two lawsuits by clients of Charles Harder, the lawyer backed by Peter Thiel.
But all-out legal war with Thiel would have cost too much, and hurt too many people, and there was no end in sight. The Valley billionaire, famously relentless, had committed publicly to support Hulk Hogan beyond the appeal and ‘until his final victory.'”
– WWE appears to be testing the waters with phasing Hulk Hogan back into company programming. Over the past week, multiple Hogan voice overs were used on the latest WWE Network promos. This is the first time Hogan has been heard on WWE TV since his racism scandal, which led WWE to cut all ties with him. The latest episode of Eric Bischoff’s Bischoff On Wrestling podcast featured Part 3 of his interview with Hogan, who said he still keeps up with WWE RAW and hopes to get back in their good graces.
– Former two-time NCAA heavyweight champion Nick Gwiazdowski is expected to receive a WWE offer after the 2020 Olympics, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. He sat ringside for WWE Backlash on Sunday.
– In addition to the NXT Takeover: Toronto event that is scheduled for Survivor Series weekend, WWE is also looking at The Theater at Madison Square Garden and venues in Boston for upcoming Takeover specials. (via f4wonline.com)
