Humberto Carrillo Re-Signs with WWE

Humberto Carrillo, a talented and high-flying wrestler, has officially re-signed with WWE. A report from Fightful Select confirms that Carrillo signed his new contract around the same time as his tag team partner, Angel Garza.

Both wrestlers’ previous contracts were set to expire in August, but they have now secured their positions with new three-year deals.

Carrillo, known for his dynamic wrestling style and high-flying maneuvers, has been a rising star in WWE since his debut. His re-signing is a clear indication that WWE values his contributions and sees a promising future for him within the company, despite the fact that he has not done much of note on television as of late.

WWE SmackDown Match Cut For Time After The Rock’s Musical Promo Ran Long

The Rock gets to do a lot of things that normal WWE Superstars aren’t allowed to do. This includes going over time, and he certainly took full advantage of his position this week on SmackDown.

We previously reported that The Rock’s musical promo ran over time this week on the March 15th episode of SmackDown. Now, we know one match that was cut down from two segments to just 11 minutes, which is a good indication that this is where WWE trimmed the show for The Rock’s overrun. Angel Garza and Humberto’s match was initially slated for two segments, but it ultimately lasted for a total of 11 minutes, including both their entrances and the post-match segment.

WWE Made Edit to Match

The Rock had quite a time on SmackDown this week. His freedom is evident, and as a member of the TKO board of directors, there isn’t much that is off limits. He obviously doesn’t have to wrap things up when they tell him he’s run out of time.

Sean Ross Sapp noted on Fightful Select that Angel Garza and Humberto Carrillo’s match was actually slated to go longer, but that wasn’t what happened when the show went live.

Angel Garza & Humberto’s match was scheduled for two segments. It ended up getting 11 minutes with entrances and post match.

The Rock’s Latest Controversy

I exclusively reported that a recent memo emphasized the need for talent to follow PG guidelines on TV and social media. Despite this, The Rock’s use of profanity, like in a recent promo, raised questions among talent about double standards. They wondered why he was allowed to curse while others weren’t.

I learned that The Rock’s viral promos, where he frequently curses, including opening his recent social media promo with “are you f*cking kidding me?” about Cody, has made some talent raise questions. There’s a sense of a double standard at play, especially considering it’s Dwayne Johnson we’re discussing.

It appears that The Rock has the freedom to use profanity liberally on social media, while the rest of the roster is expected to adhere to PG guidelines. Additionally, there’s questioning among talent about why The Rock receives special treatment.

The sentiment among some is that, “even if he is the big movie star, shouldn’t everyone play by the same rules? So he can curse and use that to get over, but everyone else is handcuffed?”

SEScoops will keep a close eye on this story for additional updates. You never know what will break next, especially on the road to WrestleMania 40.

Another WWE Tag Team Has Switched Brands

Mere hours after it was reported that the Maximum Male Models have been moved to Raw, another WWE team has found a new home on the main roster.

The Models, consisting of ma.çé And mån.sôör, alongside their manager Maxine Dupri had been appearing on SmackDown since their call-up to the main roster.

After appearing on last week’s Raw where they tried to recruit Otis as their next client, it was confirmed that the group will be on the red brand moving forward.

Moving Brands

In addition to the Maximum Male Models, Los Lotharios, the duo of Angel and Humberto, are also heading to Monday Night Raw.

This news was broken by PW Insider, who were the first to report on the models.

Like the Maximum Male Models situation, no explanation has been given as to why Los Lotharios have been moved away from SmackDown.

The Maximum Male Models appeared on last night’s Raw, as part of a segment with WWE authority figure Adam Pearce that was interrupted by Chelsea Green.

Angel and Humberto did not appear on last night’s Monday Night Raw.

Los Lotharios

Angel and Humberto are real-life cousins, but it wouldn’t be until 2021 that they began teaming together.

Their first official match came on the September 20, episode of Raw, where they defeated Mansoor and Mustafa Ali.

Los Lotharios were moved to SmackDown as part of the 2021 draft in October 2021, and it was the following month that their names were shortened from Angel Garza and Humberto Carillo to Angel and Humberto.

The most recent match for Los Lotharios saw the pair lose to Hit Row’s Ashante ‘Thee’ Adonis and Top Dolla in the SmackDown Tag Team Tournament.

WWE Pauses Plans To Push Raw Star

It appeared WWE had plans in place to push Humberto Carrillo once again on Monday Night Raw.

However, whatever plans the company did have, which looked to be with United States Champion Sheamus, are on hold for now. Pwinsider.com reports the reason Carrillo wasn’t used on Monday’s episode of Raw was simply that Vince McMahon decided to focus on Ricochet for now.

Ricochet answered the open challenge issued by Sheamus at Sunday’s WrestleMania Backlash pre-show. They also worked a match on Raw.

PWInsider wrote, “For those who asked why there was no update on Humberto Carrillo, the decision was made to focus on the Ricochet stuff. Much like Mansoor being forgotten a week after he debuted, the decision was made to focus on something else.”

Thus, it looks like WWE is going with the long-term feud between Ricochet and Sheamus.

Carrillo did get hurt last week on Raw when he worked a match with Sheamus as Carrillo landed hard on the floor and had trouble getting up. As a result, WWE stopped the match and declared Sheamus as the winner.

With anything in WWE, plans change all of the time and this is a perfect example of that.

Andrade Retains United States Title At WWE Elimination Chamber

The reign as WWE United States Champion for Andrade hasn’t come to an end as Humberto Carrillo wasn’t the man to dethrone him.

As seen at Sunday’s (March 8, 2020) WWE Elimination Chamber pay-per-view event in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the Wells Fargo Center on the WWE Network, Andrade beat Carrillo to retain the title by using the tights.

A potential title change was heavily speculated on by fans despite it being reported last month.

Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated reported that Andrade’s days as champion were numbered. The reason for that is due to Andrade serving a suspension for failing a Wellness Policy test at the time. This was the Superstar’s first violation of the company’s Wellness Policy.

Last December, during a house show at MSG, Andrade defeated Rey Mysterio to win the United States Championship for the first time.

Time will tell whether WWE continues this feud or goes into a different direction heading into the WrestleMania 36 pay-per-view event on Sunday, April 5, 2020 in Tampa, Florida at the Raymond James Stadium.

Humberto Carrillo Reflects On Teaming With Rey Mysterio

WWE RAW Superstar Humberto Carrillo has opened up about teaming with wrestling legend Rey Mysterio. The two partnered up this past Monday night on RAW in a matchup against Angel Garza and the current United States Champion, Andrade.

Speaking backstage in a WWE.com exclusive, Carrillo confessed how teaming with Mysterio has been a childhood dream of his.

“It’s been a dream since I was a kid, I’ve always looked at Rey and all these lucha things that he made in WWE back in those days. I just feel blessed. Blessed for being here tonight, tagging with Rey Mysterio against my cousin, Angel Garza, and Andrade. I just feel very good.”

Humberto Carrillo Is Ready For The Gold

This Sunday Humberto Carrillo faces Andrade at Elimination Chamber for the United States Championship. Thanks to his experience with Mysterio, Carrillo believes he is now more prepared than ever to claim the gold.

“As you said: I have another opportunity for the United States Championship. I think I can handle this. And since tonight, tagging with Rey Mysterio, a legend, he gave me that stamina and that power to handle this match against Andrade. Elimination Chamber, the United States Championship is going to be here,” he said, indicating at his waist.

Elimination Chamber takes place this Sunday, March 8. The show goes down from the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Cedric first eliminated Lio Rush by pinfall via the Lumbar Check. Humberto got eliminated next when Tozawa pinned him after hitting the diving senton.

SmackDown Star Undergoes Name Change, Humberto Carrillo Reacts To His Debut

SmackDown Star Undergoes Name Change

It appears that the former NXT Champion Andrade ‘Cien’ Almas is the latest star to undergo a name change after moving to the main roster.

The former Champion was only referred by his first name Andrade during this week’s episode of SmackDown Live and as seen in the screenshot below; his name has been edited on his WWE.com profile as well:

Andrade

So far there is no news on why WWE changed his name but it’s likely another case of Vince McMahon believing that the longer name is not a fit for TV. We’ll keep you posted on any update.

Humberto Carrillo Reacts To His Debut

We noted before how NXT Star Humberto Carrillo made his 205 Live debut during this week’s episode of the show and answered Buddy Murphy’s open challenge.

While Carrillo was not able to beat the Cruiserweight Champion during his debut, he put on an impressive match and his debut performance was praised by the fans.

Humberto was interviewed backstage after the show where it was revealed that he will be joining the roster of the Cruiserweight Exclusive show full time. You can check out his reaction to this news and his debut in the video below:

NXT Star Debuts On 205 Live

We noted before how the Cruiserweight Champion Buddy Murphy had issued a non-title open challenge to anyone in the world for this week’s episode of 205 Live.

The open challenge took place on the Cruiserweight Exclusive show after this week’s episode of SmackDown Live and it was answered by NXT Star Humberto Carillo who made his debut on the Cruiserweight Exclusive brand.

While Murphy was able to beat Carillo in his debut match, the NXT Star received some praise for his performance during the show. Below are some photos and videos of Humberto’s first match for the brand:

https://twitter.com/TheYearOfBliss/status/1085383222563930114

Humberto Carillo was previously known as Ultimo Ninja in the independent circuit. He wrestled for a number of Mexican and American companies before joining WWE.

He was signed by the company in mid-2018 and made his in-ring debut during the August 23 taping of NXT where he lost to Jaxson Ryker in a match for TV.

Humberto was listed as a 205 Live Star recently when WWE announced the upcoming Worlds Collide tournament for the Royal Rumble weekend.

While the company was quick to edit the roster and remove Carrillo from the list, this mistake had made many believe that he will be answering Murphy’s open challenge this week and these speculations turned out to be true.

205 Live Superstar Removed From Worlds Collide Tournament

We reported yesterday on WWE’s announcement over their new Worlds Collide event — a two-day tournament that will take place at the Royal Rumble Axxess shows this year. The tournament will feature top talent from across WWE’s numerous shows including NXT, NXT UK, and 205 Live.

One of the superstars initially listed as a 205 Live competitor was Humberto Carrillo.

In that time WWE has updated their initial post, removing Carrillo’s name from the list of hopeful contenders. In place of a scheduled superstar, it now only reads “A Superstar to be named.”

The Worlds Collide tournament will begin with a 15 man battle royal on Saturday, January 26th. This matchup will help to determine the first round matches based on order of eliminations. These 1st round matches will be subsequently contested later that same day. The winner of the battle royal will be granted a bye for the first round, so you know all 15 men will be wrestling hard for that secured opportunity.

205 Live Debut

A possible reason as to why Carrillo was removed from the list of Superstars could be down to his 205 Live status.

At this point in time, he has yet to officially debut for the brand. That, however, could change as soon as next Wednesday’s episode of 205.

With current WWE Cruiserweight champion, Buddy Murphy, issuing a non-title open challenge to anybody on the roster, it would be a perfect chance for Humberto to debut and make an impact. This would then provide ample reason and justification for Carrillo to then be inserted into the Worlds Collide tournament at the end of the month.

Carrillo was one of last October’s class of NXT Performance Center rookies. He has even had a match on NXT TV, losing a tag team match with Raul Mendoza against the team of Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch.

Worlds Collide Tournament Participants

NXT:

  • Adam Cole
  • Velveteen Dream
  • Dominik Dijakovic
  • Keith Lee
  • Otis Dozovic

  • Zack Gibson

205 Live
