ICW Founder Mark Dallas Confirms He Has Left Promotion

Mark Dallas, the founder of Insane Championship Wrestling, has confirmed that he’s not only left the company but has left wrestling altogether.

ICW was founded by Dallas in Scotland in 2006 but has since reached international appeal. With its mixture of sports entertainment and hardcore wrestling, only those 18 and older are allowed to attend shows. In 2020, WWE announced that ICW content would be available on the WWE Network.

Mark Dallas Leaves Wrestling

Dallas has overseen ICW’s operations through highs and lows, but he is no longer working with the company. On Instagram, Dallas explained why he stepped away from wrestling recently.

6 months ago I decided to leave pro wrestling to look after a family member who had a major operation and to pursue other avenues of entertainment that I never had time to explore whilst involved in wrestling full time.

When ICWs 6 year long WWE deal ran out I endeavoured to make sure the company found a new streaming deal and sponsor before calling it a day to ensure it would continue on.

I then left Scott Reid in charge knowing he was the right man to lead the charge for ICWs future.

I started the company to be an artistic release from my lifeguard job, wanting to run four shows a year in the Maryhill Community Central Halls back in 2006. What followed was a snowball effect that led to me and a group of friends achieving our wildest dreams and then some.

The memories will always hold a special place in my heart and I look forward to what ICW does next, rejuvenated with Scott at the helm.

I still own the ICW brand so I will always in some way be attached to the company but I also look forward to what’s next in my life.

I’m closing I want to say LONG LIVE IC FUCKIN’ W!

Insane Championship Wrestling has a long list of notable alumni. In 2006, Drew Galloway, today known as Drew McIntyre, became the first ICW World Heavyweight Champion, a title he would hold on two occasions for a total of 658 days. Other names who have worked with ICW include Grado, Joe Coffey, Trent Seven, Noam Dar, Alba Fyre, Kurt Angle, Ricochet, Finn Balor, Pete Dunne, Rey Mysterio, Rob Van Dam, and James Storm.

ICW strip NXT UK Superstar of World Championship

WWE affiliated Scottish promotion Insane Championship Wrestling (ICW) has revealed that their World Champion and NXT UK Superstar Noam Dar has been stripped of the title.

The company issued the following statement on their social media accounts today:

“As a result of COVID-19 restrictions, Noam Dar has been unable to compete for ICW since winning the ICW World Heavyweight Championship last year.

ICW on Noam Dar

“Due to the ongoing uncertainty around this, we have made the difficult decision to vacate the ICW World Heavyweight Championship.

“We hope that Noam Dar can return home to ICW in the near future. When he does, he will be granted a World Championship match at a time of his choosing.

“Two Fatal-4-Way Elimination Matches will now take place on 12 September and 26 September. The winner of each match will enter the main event of Fear & Loathing to challenge for the vacant ICW World Heavyweight Championship.”

ICW has also confirmed that Kez Evans, BT Gunn, DCT and Jason Reed will compete in the first Fatal-4-Way match this Sunday at ICW Fight Club.

The exact reason for Noam Dar being unable to compete for Insane Championship Wrestling has not been confirmed.

It is however worth noting that former PROGRESS Women’s Champion and NXT UK Superstar Jinny also had to vacate her title earlier this year, despite the company filming Chapter shows behind closed doors.

ICW has also been filming on closed sets recently, so it may well be an issue with regards to Dar’s NXT UK status that means he is unable to appear during the ongoing pandemic.

ICW Show Heading To BBC Scotland

Insane Championship Wrestling has announced a new 3 part series that will be shown on BBC Scotland. ‘Rogue to Wrestler’ will feature eight ‘wannabe’ wrestlers competing to see if they have what it takes to enter the squared circle.

In a recent press release the BBC have stated that “Insane Championship Wrestling founder Mark Dallas and professional fighters Adrian McCallum (aka Lionheart) and Lee Greig (who wrestles under the name of Jack Jester) take no prisoners as they start the elimination process. There’s a lot at stake – the winner will have the chance to become the next big star of the Scottish wrestling scene. Each one of the contenders has experienced life on the wrong side of the tracks, but there’s no room for sob stories when they hit the gym.”

ICW recently held their Square Go! event in Scotland. The Royal Rumble style event saw a surprise appearance from WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett. Rudo Lightning eventually won the 30 man rumble bout. Rudo entered the Royal Rumble styled match at number two. Along with Liam Thomson, who entered in the first spot, lasted over an hour. Some high profile competitors in the bout included NXT UK Superstar Wolfgang and a returning former ICW World Champion, ‘Just Justice’ Jackie Polo. Rudo eliminated Joe Hendry last to win the bout.

Kay Lee Ray vs Toni Storm Announced for ICW Square Go

Insane Championship Wrestling (ICW) has announced a huge Women’s Championship match for their Square Go! event. ICW Women’s Champion Kay Lee Ray will be defending against NXT UK’s Toni Storm.

Kay Lee Ray was the first ever WoS/World of Sport Women’s Champion and appeared to be staying with the company for the long haul. KLR shockingly appeared at NXT UK’s Takeover: Blackpool event last month and this caused many to question the future of the ITV reboot. It appears as though Kay Lee Ray is heading to the NXT UK brand.

Interestingly, Toni Storm is of course the NXT UK Women’s Champion, having defeated Rhea Ripley at the aforementioned Takeover event. ICW has long been associated with WWE, with the company being supposedly ‘greenlit’ for NXT UK Superstars to perform. Storm is one of the biggest stars in the NXT UK brand, having won the second ever Mae Young Classic. Kay Lee Ray is also one of the top female talents in the UK/European scene, so this is somewhat of a dream bout.

The NXT UK contract changes were seemingly brought into effect on January 1st of this year. One of the biggest changes was that NXT UK talents could only face other NXT UK talents on independent cards. With Kay Lee Ray now signing with NXT UK this match was good to go.

ICW Zero-G Championship Match Announced for Square Go! (02/24)

ICW has announced a top bout for their February Square Go! event. ICW Zero-G Champion and NXT UK Superstar Joe Coffey will be defending against Ilja Dragunov.

This follows the news that Toni Storm has been announced for the same event. ICW are believed to be one of the companies on WWE’s ‘greenlit’ list alongside PROGRESS, OTT and Fight Club: Pro. Whether or not Storm and Coffey appear on the company’s On Demand service remains to be seen. This was reportedly a caveat of the NXT UK contract changes.

The Australian star Toni Storm and Joe Coffey are of course two of the top Superstars from the NXT UK roster, so allowing both to participate and potentially appear on ICW’s On Demand service is a big deal if allowed. Storm would most likely face a fellow NXT UK Superstar at this event, Coffey is facing Dragunov who is a free agent.

ICW recently held their biggest event of the year in Fear & Loathing XI. The card featured some top international names including 205 Live’s Noam Dar, NXT UK’s Pete Dunne, Tyler Bate, Trent Seven and James Storm. You can check out the full results for that show here.

Killian, who alongside his Sanity stablemates, returned to SmackDown LIVE last Thursday, has previously wrestled all over Europe, including ICW, under his previous moniker, Big Damo.

European Tour

The WWE has been touring across Europe this past weekend. This serendiptious scheduling gave Dain the perfect opportunity to revisit his old stomping grounds.

Dain became the ICW World Champion in 2016 when he defeated Chris Renfrew in Glasgow, Scotland. He is just one of a slew of WWE talent that have made recent appearances for the company. Others include 205 Live/NXT UK Star, Noam Dar, and RAW Superstar, Finn Balor.

Noam Dar is scheduled to compete at ICW’s upcoming December 2nd event. He will team up with Wolfgang and BT Gunn to face off against British Strong Style.

ICW Confirm WWE Superstar Appearance for Glasgow Event

Insane Championship Wrestling will be hosting a show today at Glasgow’s Garage venue. WWE will also be running an event in Glasgow this afternoon.

ICW has confirmed that a WWE Superstar will be appearing as part of their Garage show. The company has not revealed who will be appearing but have confirmed that they will be in action against ICW’s Mikey Whiplash.

Several WWE Superstars have been on the ICW roster. Sanity’s Killian Dain was a huge part of the company and is part of Smackdown Live so he could make an appearance. Kassius Ohno is also a possibility, the former Chris Hero has made appearances for ICW whilst being contracted to NXT. Other possibilities include NXT UK’s Noam Dar, Kenny Williams, Wolfgang or a huge return could be Drew McIntyre. McIntyre is one of the big reasons that ICW exploded in popularity, he joined their Hall of Fame this past February.
