Giulia To Undergo Surgery For Wrist Injury As Future In WWE Awaits

Japanese wrestling sensation Giulia will go under the knife to repair her wrist which could put plans for her in WWE NXT on pause.

Giulia suffered the injury during a tag-team match which saw herself and Utami Hayashishita face Sareee and Bozilla. Despite the injury happening mere minutes into the match, Giulia continued to compete throughout the bout which lasted over 28 minutes.

The former NJPW Strong Women’s Champion will have surgery on her wrist on May 28, Tokyo Sports report. Giulia told the publication that she had been advised that surgery was the best course of action.

“I was told that having surgery would be the quickest way to recover, and I made the decision because I wanted to be in top condition to wrestle against Saree.”

A match against Sareee has been announced for the Marigold Summer Destiny event on July 13. Giulia intends to wrestle at the event and is confident she will be healed in time for the event. In the meantime, Giulia is looking forward to taking things easy for the first time in a while.

“I’ll be away from home for three nights and four days, so it’s like going on a trip to the countryside. I won’t be able to move around, so I’ll spend my time watching movies for the first time in a while and watching various wrestling videos.”

Giulia is still hoping to compete at Marigold’s next event.

Giulia’s WWE Future

With this surgery, questions remain as to what the future holds for Giulia in WWE. The Japanese star appeared at NXT Stand & Deliver 2024 and remained in Philadelphia for the WrestleMania 40 festivities. Giulia is set to join WWE NXT later this year though this injury has caused doubts among fans as to when she’ll be joining.

WWE officials remain optimistic that Giulia will be healed in time to compete at the NXT Heatwave event on July 9. Giulia is expected to be thrust into the NXT Women’s Championship picture with one source claiming she’ll have an impact in NXT that rivals what Asuka achieved during her two years with the gold brand.

Jordynne Grace Shows Off Gnarly Injury

TNA wrestler Jordynne Grace has suffered a pretty gnarly-looking injury on her ear. The injury took place on the May 23 edition of TNA Impact when Grace was in action in the ring with Marti Belle.

The match was for the TNA Knockouts World Title at the MegaCorp Pavilion in Newport, Kentucky, and Grace was able to successfully defend it against Belle. However, Belle’s fishnets ripped out a small chunk of her ear.

“There’s a reason why I am one of the most dominant champions in TNA,” Grace said in a post-match promo. “I went out there and I got a piece of my ear ripped out! And I still came out with the Knockouts World Championship! There’s a piece of my ear, with the earrings on that woman’s tights. But she still took the pin. Now I gotta go see a doctor.”

What’s worse is that TNA actually showed the bit of Grace’s ear stuck to Belle’s fishnets, and used it for a promo. Allysin Kay of The Hex pointed out the chunk of meat stuck on the fishnets.

“Marti might not have won the match, but she’s taking home a souvenir with her,” Kay said. “You just don’t listen, so I had to make sure I took a piece of your ear,” Belle stated. “Just know, that as long as you have that Knockouts Championship, you’re gonna have a Hex on your back.”

It remains to be seen how serious is Grace’s injury, and if she would take some time off from wrestling to recover. SEScoops will keep you updated of any further developments.

Report: Eddie Kingston Will Be Out For A Year With Injury

Eddie Kingston lost the NJPW Strong Openweight Title at Resurgence, the final of the triple crown. He also suffered an injury during that match, and the Mad King will be out for about a year.

AEW’s Eddie Kingston met with surgeons today and, due to the nature of his injuries, will likely not go under the knife to repair his ACL and meniscus tears until this July at the earliest.

Kingston relayed to PWInsider.com that he’s been advised that he’ll initially have to wait for his tibia fracture to heal and do some physical therapy before surgeons can then focus on his knee. After the surgery is completed, he’s been advised it will likely be ten months before he’ll be able to return to the ring. That would place his comeback, if there are no changes to the expected timeline, at May 2025.

Kingston told the outlet, “Not mad. I don’t give a f***. It’s what happens when you wrestle. Just gotta get f**king better.”

Kingston was scheduled to participate in the Anarchy In The Arena match at Double or Nothing this weekend in Las Vegas. He was set to join Bryan Danielson and FTR to face The Young Bucks, Okada, and Perry. Then plans changed, as Darby Allin was put in Eddie’s spot.

Allin has also been dealing with his own series of injuries. Following AEW Revolution, he broke his foot in a match against Jay White. Just a few weeks ago, he was hit by a bus in New York City.

We are hoping that Kingston can get back to 100% very soon. He is a huge force for AEW, and the company could certainly use him.

Giulia’s WWE Debut Likely Delayed Due To Her Injury

WWE are hoping to move ahead with the original plans set for their newest signing, Giulia. However, the plans might have to be altered due to her recent injury.

Giulia sustained a fractured right wrist during a match on Monday, May 20 at the Marigold Fields Forever event. She teamed up with Utami Hayashashita and faced former NXT star Sareee and Bozilla in a losing effort. Fightful’s Corey Brennan has reported some new details on Giulia’s status with WWE after the injury.

Brennan reported that WWE are hopeful that Giulia will recover in time for NXT Heatwave which will take place on July 7. There is a belief within NXT that Giulia would face Roxanne Perez for the NXT Women’s Championship at the show. However, it has come to light that “these plans are not set in stone” and might be changed due to Giulia’s current injury.

The Japanese star had to pull out from her upcoming matches, including the Hana Kimura tribute show. However, she’s still scheduled to face Sareee at Marigold’s Summer Destiny event on July 13. Brennan also confirmed the reports that Giulia will be available to work with the promotion following her arrival in NXT. He reported that “the match with Sareee was expected”, and shouldn’t affect Giulia’s arrival in WWE before that.

It has come to light that Giulia is expected to lead the next class of wrestlers at the Performance Center and the batch is likely to have wrestlers from the recent Australia tryouts.

Character and presentation

It is also reported that Giulia was signed for ‘who she is’, and that WWE are not aiming to “fix something that isn’t broken.”

Giulia made an appearance for WWE for the first time at Stand & Deliver as she was in  attendance. She also made her presence felt backstage and was “outgoing and polite to NXT talent and higher-ups alike.” She is also said to have a lengthy conversation with NXT Head Shawn Michaels backstage.

Regarding her English speaking skills, it is said that “the language barrier” isn’t a major issue as IYO Sky, Asuka, Kairi Sane, and more speak in their native language in WWE. However, Giulia’s effort to learn the language has seemingly impressed WWE.

Fans are eager to witness Giulia in NXT but her debut depends on her recovery.

Eddie Kingston Has Another Major Setback With Injury

Unfortunately, Eddie Kingston will likely be out of action for a very long time despite the initial thought that he’d be back in a few months.

After reporting that Kingston was planning to return by AEW ALL IN in London, Kingston not only has a fractured tibula, but he has a torn meniscus and a torn ACL. While at NJPW Strong Resurgance, Kingston lost his Openweight Championship to Gabe Kidd at the event and suffered said injuries.

Kris Statlander was another star to tear her ACL and meniscus. The injury had her out for months on end and only just recently made her return.

The Young Bucks and Jack Perry attacked Kingston following the fight, effectively taking him off television for the foreseeable future. Over the weekend, Kingston posted a photo of himself on Instagram in a massive leg boot. Before his injury, Kingston was a triple crown champion before losing his other titles to Kazuchika Okada and Mark Briscoe.

Kingston was slated to be involved in the Anarchy In The Arena match at Double or Nothing this weekend in Las Vegas. He was set to join Bryan Danielson and FTR to face The Young Bucks, Okada and Perry. However, AEW pivoted in the closing moments of last week’s Dynamite as they replaced Kingston with a returning Darby Allin.

Allin had suffered his fair share of injuries recently as of well. Following AEW Revolution, he broke his foot in his match against Jay White. Then just a few weeks back, was hit by a bus in New York City.

Sonya Deville Returns After 9-Month Injury Hiatus During 5/20 WWE RAW

Sonya Deville has been out of action since suffering an ACL tear on the July 28th episode of SmackDown. This injury came at a high point in her career, abruptly ending her title reign with Chelsea Green. After a long road to recovery, she is now ready to return to the ring.

During WWE RAW this week, a backstage segment featured Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark. As they talked, the camera panned over to reveal Sonya Deville standing with her arms crossed. Deville approached Baszler and Stark, indicating she wanted to talk to them.

Despite Deville’s attempt to engage, Baszler and Stark showed no interest and walked away. This brief interaction left viewers curious about Deville’s intentions and her role moving forward. Michael Cole provided little context, but he did clear up her status, noting Deville’s nine-month absence due to injury.

During her time off, Deville worked hard on her recovery and also took the opportunity to get married. Her dedication to returning to WWE has been evident, and her return marks an important moment in her career. Fans are eager to see how she will be reintegrated into the roster.

Ivar Confirms Serious Injury In New Statement After Conflicting Reports

WWE star Ivar has addressed his current status amid all the conflicting rumors going around about his health and wrestling future.

Chatter about the wrestling star’s status began after WWE pulled him from an announced match. At first it was reported that Ivar was just taking some time off from the company and he wasn’t really injured.

Fresh reports since then, however, have contradicted the early statements. A photo posted by Andrews Sports Medicine team on Twitter further confirmed that the heavyweight star was dealing with a legitimate issue.

One-half of the Viking Raiders tag team then took on his Twitter to set the record straight. Ivar confirmed that he is indeed dealing with a legitimate serious injury:

The WWE star said that he will do everything he can to get back in the ring as soon as possible and thanked the fans for their support through this ordeal:

“No matter what happens, I owe it to everyone who ever believed in me to do everything I can to get back in that ring, under those lights, and infront of the most amazing fans on the planet, see you as soon as I can! That being said, I Want to thank everyone for the out pouring of love and support, not only after finding out I was injured but thru out the last several months, I have heard you all!”

Ivar’s Injury

Ivar was originally scheduled to compete in a triple threat #1 contender’s match for Oba Femi’s NXT North American Championship at next week’s episode of NXT.

However he, alongside the other two competitors of the match Wes Lee and Josh Briggs were taken out by Gallus on this week’s episode of the Tuesday night show.

The company then taped next week’s episode of the development show in advance and excluded the heavyweight star from the lineup. Ivar was also replaced in the ongoing tournament to determine the #1 contender for Ricochet’s WWE Speed championship.

Fightful Select later provided some more updates on the 40-year-old’s health. They claimed that Ivar has ‘long wrestled as if he’s on borrowed time after his double fusion surgery.’

The nature or the severity of Ivar’s current injury is not known. So it’s hard to say how long he will stay out of action or when can we expect him back on WWE programming.

SEScoops will continue monitoring the situation and you can follow us on social media to stay up-to-date with the wrestling star’s status.

Update On Asuka’s Knee Injury

WWE Superstars put their bodies on the line for the entertainment of fans every time they step into the ring. Unfortunately, injuries are a regular part of the job and virtually nobody is exempt. Earlier this week, Asuka announced she’s been dealing with a knee injury and we’ve got an update that underscores the importance of this decision.

Approximately two months ago, we covered when Asuka ‘tweaked’ her knee on WWE SmackDown. She’s wrestled a lot since then, which gave us a sense of optimism that she might be able to avoid time off. Unfortunately, the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter confirms it’s the same injury that persists.

Now that she’s gotten through WrestleMania 40 and Backlash France, where she and Kairi Sane dropped the Women’s tag titles, Asuka will take some time to recuperate and get back to 100%.
