Isla Dawn Is “Not Dead Yet,” Superstars React To Post-WWE Tease

Isla Dawn is far from finished in the world of professional wrestling, despite her recent exit from WWE. Taking to Instagram, the former Women’s Tag Team Champion reflected on her exit, the fan reaction to her departure, before making clear that she’s “not dead yet.”

“One of the sad facts of life is that you won’t hear all the good things people have to say about you until you’re gone. Everyone bottles up their emotions, only to pour them out over your lifeless body—just a little too late.

‘Oh my God, I’m gonna miss her. Oh my God, she was a champion. She was a star. She did not deserve this.’

Did I deserve it? No. But I did need it. I was bleeding out. This was pressure. I was crashing. And this—this is what revived me. My heart stopped on the table, but someone down there sent me back up, knowing it was not quite my time.

The White Witch is gone. The Unholy Enchantress, buried in the grave. A two-time tag team champion—ashes in an urn. But don’t grieve for me. Isla Dawn is not dead yet.”

Isla Dawn’s video caught the attention of several names in the wrestling world. NXT’s Kiana James shared a series of emojis to share her support for the video, while Scarlett told Dawn to ‘Get em girl!’ Samantha Irvin, who exited WWE last year, stated “Moves” and a fire emoji.

Dawn first made her mark in NXT UK, where she became a standout in the women’s division. In 2022, she transitioned to WWE NXT, where she formed a tag team with Alba Fyre. Highlights of her career include a reign as a NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion, as well as Dawn and Fyre winning the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles in their native Scotland.

With Dawn’s 90-day non-compete clause in place, all eyes are on her next move and how she will reinvent herself. Given her talent and creativity, the possibilities are endless for the ex-Superstar.

WWE 2K25: Released Wrestlers Who Are Still Included in the Game

WWE released several names from its roster in recent weeks, but those cut from the company aren’t entirely gone just yet. Instead, several names who’ve been given the dreaded pink slip will still be playable as part of WWE 2K25.

Released talent who will be playable in WWE 2K25 include:

  • Duke Hudson
  • Akam
  • Rezar
  • Blair Davenport
  • Cedric Alexander
  • Luke Gallows
  • Karl Anderson
  • Giovanni Vinci
  • Sonya Deville
  • Isla Dawn
  • Elektra Lopez

Paul Ellering was also among those released from WWE. While the Hall of Famer/Final Testament alum won’t be a playable character in WWE 2K25, he will be a non-playable manager in the game.

The inclusion of these released Superstars demonstrate how quickly things can change in WWE. While these talents hoped that WWE 2K25 would just be the latest in a series of games they would be a part of, next month’s instalment will most likely be the last time they are playable in a WWE video game.

These released talents will be part of the largest roster in the history of WWE video games with stars from the past and present. With over 300 names confirmed for the game, in addition to Wyatt Sicks-themed DLC, fans will be able to recreate their favorite matches or create never-before-seen contests in the upcoming game.

WWE 2K25 will release on March 14, with the Deadman and Bloodline Editions of the game launching a week earlier on March 7. With WWE 2K Mobile also announced, this year is shaping up to be a massive one for wrestling fans and gamers alike.

Isla Dawn Leaving WWE: “See You in 90”

WWE Superstar Isla Dawn has announced her departure from the company in a cryptic Instagram story. The post features a photo of Dawn in her wrestling gear, accompanied by the caption, “Here for a good time, not a long time,” followed by another message stating, “See you in 90,” with a calendar emoji.

The mention of “90” strongly implies that WWE has informed Dawn of her release and that she will remain under contract and paid for the next 90 days before becoming a free agent. This is standard procedure for main roster talent, meaning she will not be able to sign elsewhere until that period expires.

Her departure adds to a growing list of WWE talent exits this week.

Isla Dawn in WWE

Isla Dawn first appeared in WWE as Stacy Coates back in 2017, when she competed against Asuka in a match on Monday Night Raw. She joined NXT UK in 2018 after competing in the Mae Young Classic.

She developed a “modern-day witch” character and transitioned to NXT in late 2022. Things came together when she formed The Unholy Union with Alba Fyre. The duo won the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship in April 2023, and after being drafted to SmackDown, they captured the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship at Clash at the Castle 2024 in Glasgow.

Stephanie Vaquer Wins WWE In-Ring Debut: “NXT, See You Soon”

Stephanie Vaquer’s debut match in WWE proved to be a successful one for the company’s latest signing at a live event in Mexico City.

Before the show even started, WWE hyped Vaquer’s appearance at the show by sharing a video of her arrival at the arena.

At the July 13, event, Vaquer defeated current WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Ilja Dawn. After the match, Vaquer said that it was a dream come true to be part of WWE.

Vaquer certainly proved to be a hit with the crowd in Mexico City and fans won’t have to wait long before they see her again. WWE’s newest signing is also expected to be at tonight’s WWE live event in Monterrey.

Stephanie Vaquer Joining WWE NXT

Vaquer officially joined WWE this past Wednesday after it was announced she had left CMLL. On Twitter, SVP of Talent Development and Head of NXT Shawn Michaels welcomed Vaquer to the family, which some have taken as a sign she’ll start in WWE on the gold brand.

In a post-match interview at the Mexico City live event, Vaquer told the cameras “NXT, see you soon” seemingly confirming the notion that she’ll be joining the gold brand.

Vaquer’s Journey To WWE

WWE and AEW had been interested in Vaquer following her show-stealing performance at last month’s AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door 2024 pay-per-view. Though she lost to Mercedes Mone at the event, Vaquer was praised for how she won the crowd over, despite them being more familiar with Mone and her work in and out of WWE.

While Vaquer only signed with WWE in recent days, this isn’t her first time being associated with the company. In 2018, Vaquer had a tryout for the promotion but was not signed.

NXT UK Superstar Makes NXT Debut at Live Event

The NXT UK brand may be a thing of the past, but one of the brand’s popular Superstars has now taken their first steps in WWE NXT.

In August, WWE announced the formation of NXT Europe, which is set to launch at some point next year.

In the same statement, WWE said that NXT UK will be on hiatus until the new brand is up and running.

A New Dawn

Immediately after the announcement of NXT Europe, WWE released the vast majority of their NXT UK talent.

Those who weren’t released, including Ilja Dragunov and Pretty Deadly, have since made their way to WWE NXT: the company’s U.S.-based developmental brand.

At a recent WWE NXT Live event, Isla Dawn made her debut for the white and gold brand, facing fellow NXT UK alum Alba Fyre.

The match, which took place at last weekend’s NXT Live event, say Fyre get the win.

Isla Dawn

Dawn’s career with WWE began in 2017 when she lost a November 6, Raw squash match to Asuka.

Competing in the 2018 Mae Young Classic, Dawn was eliminated in the first round, but would still be signed by WWE.

Competing for NXT UK, Dawn would be unsuccessful in the tournament to crown the first NXT UK Women’s Champion, being eliminated in the first-round by eventual winner Toni Storm.

In February 2022, Dawn would steal the title from then-Champion Meiko Satomura, and would return the gold in exchange for a title match that she’d lose.

Dawn would compete in a fatal four-way match on what would be the final episode of NXT UK, losing to Blair Davenport.
