Jack Swagger became the new WWE United States Champion on Monday’s’s RAW Supershow after he defeated a badly injured Zack Ryder, who was selling the attack from Kane last week.
Ryder wrote the following on Twitter last night about his United States Title loss:
“So I’m not the US champ anymore. Sorry to let my Broskis down. I will make no excuses for tonight…I will be United States champion again!”
Swagger stated in a recent interview that 2012 was going to be his year and he had his sights set on the United States championship.
As we’ve been reporting in recent weeks, Zack Ryder’s segments on RAW have been drowing very low ratings, which could be the reason WWE decided to take the US title off him.
Either Ryder will be put back in the role of “chasing the title” (which is typically a better ratings draw than a babyface champion) or shuffled around in the mid-card.

Jack Swagger spoke with Caller.com this week to promote Monday’s RAW from Corpus Christi, Texas. Here are some highlights of what Swagger said about:
2012 Being “The Year Of Swag”: “You’re definitely going to see an evolution of the All-American American. I’m not going to be satisfied until Jack Swagger is back at the top of the mountain.”
Wanting The United States Title: “The All-American American was born to be the United States Champion. (Ryder’s) really molded himself into championship material to cool off his momentum is going to be kind of tough. I’m going to get in there and throw my weight around a little bit and show him how to wrestle.”

The New York Post has published an interview with TNA Wrestling star Kurt Angle discussing his Olympic aspirations. The interview includes discussion of his professional wrestling career, and he explains how he made the transition between the professional and amateur ranks.
“It was a complete career adaptation. It wasn’t a step above, going from amateur wrestling to pro wrestling, it was going from real wrestling to sports entertainment,” Angle said. “A lot of people put me up there as far as saying he’s one of the best ever. And I’ve only been wrestling for 11 and a half years. I think that Ric Flair, Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker, guys who have put 30 years into it deserve it. Me getting that praise after only 11 years—it’s not fair.”
Though Kurt Angle has not competed inside a WWE ring in over five years, his impact is still seen today. The Olympic Gold Medalist, however, does not appreciate his moves and style being replicated.
“When Jack Swagger copies my ankle lock and Randy Orton does my Angle Slam, it’s disrespectful,” Angle said. “I didn’t come up with the Ankle Lock, Ken Shamrock came up with the Ankle Lock but I waited until he retired to do the Ankle Lock. That company has no respect for me.”
Despite his displeasure with WWE grapplers using his moves, Angle is grateful that he has been able to parlay Vince McMahon’s vision for him into a successful career in both WWE and TNA Wrerstling.
“I love Vince McMahon. He came up with the Kurt Angle character,” Angle said. “He ran with it and then I was able to run with it. I thank him for the opportunity he gave me. Vince McMahon was one of my best friends, period. Now I’m loyal to Dixie Carter.”

– During a recent WWE creative meeting, the idea was pitched of moving CM Punk to the SmackDown brand later in 2012, to help provide the show with additional star power. Punk has not been a strong ratings draw on RAW, so the idea is that his character could be more of an asset on SmackDown, where he could continue to deliver great matches and promos without having to be relied upon to deliver ratings.
– Speaking of the WWE champion, Punk is the driving force behind Zack Ryder’s recent push.

– After WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross was fired on Monday Night RAW 2 weeks ago by John Laurinaitis, many (including Jim Ross) were surprised when Ross was booked for the following week’s show from Mexico City.
The decision to bring Jim Ross back to RAW so quickly was made after WWE evaluated the television ratings from the show where Ross was fired. An analysis of the minute-to-minute ratings revealed that ratings plummeted immediately after Ross was fired. Additionally, WWE received a ton of negative feedback online via social media. As for JR’s future on WWE television, the belief is that anything is possible at this point.
– This week’s inside joke is that even though Randy Orton is currently the man scheduled to win the 2012 Royal Rumble, those plans may change as soon as Vince McMahon realizes the Rumble takes place from Orton’s home town of St. Louis. As evidenced by the way Jim Ross was fired when RAW took place from Oklahoma, WWE has a track record of burying people in front of their home town crowds.
– WWE’s stock price has rebounded to the $10/share level this week after recently dipping below. Part of the reason for the rebound is that a few financial publications classified the stock as a “buy” – since the company is still very profitable. $9 The stock pride which was below $9 for a while, is now up to $10.10 afer an article listing WWE as a bargain because of how low the price had gotten and that they are still turning a profit.
– Congratulations go out to Jack Swagger, who is now a father. Swagger and his wife Catalina White, a former Maxim model and developmental wrestler, had a baby boy on 10/17 named Knox Stribling Hager.

Randy Orton won the 41-Man No. 1 Contender’s Battle Royal, last eliminating The Miz. Battle Royal elimination order is as follows: 1. Cody Rhodes, 2. Johnny Curtis, 3. JTG, 4. Following Monday’s Raw in which John Morrison was defeated by Christian in approximately a minute and subsequently assaulted by Dolph Ziggler, Christian and Jack Swagger, a man wrote to Melina on Twitter accusing her of killing his WWE career.
He wrote, “Will you stand trial for killing your bf’s career? #prayforJoMo.”
The former WWE Diva responded via private message, “The WWE did it. I never did anything but stand by him through thick & thin. We should all be so lucky as to have someone like that in our lives.
“John worked his ass off and did EVERYTHING he was told. The blame shouldn’t be put on me. Blame the WWE.”

Many internally believe that Morrison will soon part ways with WWE. Company personnel speculated to Wrestling Observer editor Dave Meltzer that while Morrison has not upset management, he, like Drew McIntyre, is paying the price for his significant other’s actions.
Former WWE Diva Maria Kanellis made similar allegations during last week’s Raw discussion show for AfterBuzzTV.com after co-host Lilian Garcia pondered why McIntyre and Morrison are not receiving greater pushes.
Maria said of McIntyre, “I have a feeling he’s paid for someone else’s sins, problems, because Drew’s really good. I’d love to see him do more stuff, but it’s unfortunate that that happens.”
Maria then said of Morrison, “I think it’s a lot of complications of outside stuff. I think that a lot of times they go with who’s going to be there, who’s always going to be there, who’s going to be the easiest. He’s very easy and I love him to pieces, but I think it’s outside complications. I think that’s why.”
