Fresh off her title defense at AEW Full Gear, TBS Champion Jade Cargill has confronted popular rapper Bow Wow.
Footage from Pierre Pope’s Instagram Story shows Cargill, Grey and Hogan yelling at the rapper who was meeting fans at the FTX Arena in Miami, Florida.
Before things could get physical, security quickly escorted Cargill, Keira Hogan and Leila Grey, away from the rapper.
In October of this year, Bow Wow said that he’d love to get a spot on the All Elite Wrestling roster, and hopes Tony Khan will make it happen.
On Twitter, the rapper and Cargill have taken shots at each other, as seen in the tweets below.
Yo @Jade_Cargill so you was at the same arena yesterday that im playing tonight and skipped outta town so fast. I wanted to see that slow ass kick in person. Oh im sorry.. good morning
You not even a REAL champ. I got 50,000$ you wont make it to 50-0 you gone have to go have that meeting with hubby. Being you brag about his wallet and not YOURS! ? https://t.co/K7ikjsKVx3
AEW TBS Champion Jade Cargill retained her title at last weekend’s Full Gear Pay-Per-View, and Freddie Prinze Jr. couldn’t be happier.
In the third match of the night (sixth if you include the Full Gear Zero Hour Pre-Show) Cargill retained against Nyla Rose defeating the ex-AEW Women’s World Champion in eight minutes.
A month prior to the match, Rose had stolen the AEW TBS title and had taunted the undefeated Cargill on social media.
Ridiculous
While many fans found Rose’s antics with the TBS Championship to be hilarious, Freddie Prinze Jr. hasn’t been among them.
On the latest episode of Wrestling With Freddie, the ex-WWE writer blasted the storyline, calling it “week after week after week of nonsense.”
“I’m very excited to see this stupid, ridiculous storyline between Nyla Rose and Jade Cargill finally get squashed and put to bed… In what world of combat sports would one fighter be able to steal the title of another one and not have to give it back. This is the most ridiculous storyline.”
Freddie Prinze Jr.
Prinze insisted that his criticism is not at Cargill or Rose, who he considers impressive wrestlers, but the storyline itself.
Fantasy Booking
As an ex-WWE writer, Prinze knows all about booking decisions and gave his suggestion for the storyline.
If he was writing for AEW, Prinze would have had Rose steal the title, and Cargill complain to AEW President Tony Khan.
Khan would have forced Rose to hand the title over almost immediately after stealing it or risk losing her job with the promotion.
At Full Gear, Jade Cargil moved to 42-0 when she beat Nyla Rose and got her actual TBS Championship back.
Cargill has defended her title on every pay-per-view this year. In addition to retaining her title and remaining undefeated, she always has amazing looks that don’t miss. Her pay-per-view looks are so anticipated by fans that the TBS Champion has taken to Twitter to ask for ideas.
Jade Cargill’s Four Looks
In her first pay-per-view as champion, Cargill wrestled Tay Conti at Revolution. In perhaps her most iconic look to date, she cosplayed as Jade from Mortal Kombat. To make her entrance even more epic, her entrance was backlit in green. She emerged with green hair and mostly green gear.
For the next pay-per-view, Double or Nothing, Cargill payed homage to her sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha. She donned half green and half pink hair, the sorority’s colors. To go with the casino theme, she was flanked by Vegas showgirls.
At ALL OUT, the champ defended her title against Athena. Just a few weeks before the show, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law began airing on Disney+. Cargill channeled this iconic look for herself, even down to adding green paint to her body. She burst through a “brick wall” for her entrance.
For Full Gear, Cargill channeled her inner-Thundercats. She looked incredible as Cheetara with cheetah prints in her yellow and orange wig and orange face paint. Cargill was carrying a staff to break across her knee, except it came apart before she got it down. No matter as she rolled on to victory.
While pay-per-views are done for the year, there are big shows like “Winter is Coming” and Battle of the Belts. Cargill is closing in on one year as TBS Champion, so it’s likely that she’ll have more epic looks in store.
One of the biggest differences in the culture of AEW and WWE has been the treatment of stars. While WWE has historically been known to control the life of people signed to the company, AEW under Tony Khan gives them a lot more freedom. According to Jade Cargill, this quality of the AEW President is what convinced her to join the upstart promotion in 2020, over their rivals.
The TBS champion recently appeared on The Breakfast Club. She talked about many things including her debut storyline with Shaquille O’Neal. Cargill mentioned how she was going back and forth between WWE and AEW at the time. She gravitated towards the latter once Khan proved that he was willing to listen to her and collaborate:
“I was actually going between this company and another company at the same time. So I was going back and forth. But we have an owner Tony Khan, who’s hungry. [He] owns the Jaguars.” said Jade Cargill, “He owns a soccer team Fulham in England. The man is a billionaire. I love the fact that he treats us like athletes.
He understands like we need mental health days. We need time off. We have families at home. I have a five-year-old daughter so I want to be there as much as I can for her. That’s the reason why I chose this company over the other company. They [have] seen something in me and they don’t treat me like a number. He was willing to listen to my dream and what I wanted and said ‘okay, I believe in you, and we’re gonna make this happen.'”
You can check out Jade Cargill’s full interview below:
On Friday, the Women’s Professional Fastpitch (WPF) announced that legendary second baseman, Brandon Phillips had purchased a franchise in Dallas. They followed up their tweet welcoming Jade Cargill to “the fam”.
Cargill confirmed that she is co-owner of the franchise. She said they’ll be “providing more opportunities for women to prolong a passion of this amazing game long after college.”
The press release describes the WPF as “Women’s Professional Fastpitch (WPF) is the official professional softball league in the United States, founded by USA Softball, USSSA, and Smash It Sports. WPF showcases the best athletes in softball, provides a world-class experience for fans, and connects young fans to their idols.”
The league had its inaugural season last year with two teams, Smash It Sports Vipers and USSSA Pride. The Oklahoma Sparks will field a team next season.
Who is Jade Cargill’s partner, Brandon Phillips?
In WPF’s press release, Phillips said of the opportunity, “I’m very excited to become an owner of a franchise in the WPF. I’m looking forward to branching off into something new but very similar. It’s time to provide more opportunities for women to prolong their passion of this amazing game long after college to achieve their dreams.”
In addition to the Dallas franchise, Phillips is the co-owner of the Lexington Legends, an independent baseball team. He also played for the team last season. While playing in the MLB, Phillips racked up four Gold Gloves and a Silver Slugger while also playing in three All-Star Games.
Dallas will field a team in June 2023. Cargill and Phillips are asking for fans to help them name the team. They’re using the hashtag #ImGlovinIt.
Phillips and Cargill are a real life power couple and have a daughter. Cargill signed with AEW in November 2020. She won the TBS Championship tournament in January to become the inaugural title holder. Cargill is currently on a 41-win streak and on track to face Nyla Rose at Full Gear.
AEW TBS Champion Jade Cargill is confident in the company’s women’s division but wishes they were given more time.
Cargill is the inaugural holder of the TBS Championship, a title she has held for over 300 days.
The 30-year-old wrestler debuted in AEW in November 2020 and has remained undefeated since then.
Give Us Time
AEW has received praise from fans for being an alternative to WWE programming, but one major issue with audiences is the company’s women’s division.
Many have said that the promotion does not give their female wrestlers enough opportunities, especially when compared to WWE’s Women’s Revolution.
Speaking to SEScoops correspondent Steve Fall, Cargill said she is sure the women would be able to deliver if given the chance.
“I know for a fact the women in the locker room, all of them can give five-star matches. We just need the time to do it and the time to shine. I mean, we have a very talented roster of ladies. It’s just, we have one match to show and we’re trying to do the best and perform and maximize the minutes that we’re given.”
When asked about the response from fans, and the accusation that AEW does not want to invest in their women’s division, Cargill said it wasn’t her place given how fresh she is to wrestling.
“I’m new to the industry so I’m gonna sit back and just watch how things are going. I haven’t worked in other industries. I mean, we’re going to keep on maximizing the time that we have and just trying to kill and prove that we are worthy of more time.”
AEW Evolution?
In 2018, WWE held their first (and to-date only) all-women’s event ‘Evolution,’ and NWA followed suit with their Empowerrr show in 2021.
Speaking about an all-female Pay-Per-View, Cargill was on board with the idea.
“The all-women’s pay-per-view, I think if that happened it would be a home run. There’d be matchups for the faces that haven’t been on Dynamite and Rampage or haven’t been on there in many months. It would be a great, stellar show. I’m very certain of that.
“Especially with not having to worry about fighting for positions or anything like that. It’s just an all-woman show and everybody has time. I think it’d be outstanding
Cargill was also asked about a dram-match created by fans that would pit her against WWE’s Sasha Banks.
“I have no idea [whether a match with Sasha Banks could happen.] Fans always want to create these fantasy matches that probably never happen. But I mean, where there’s a will, there’s a way. Let’s just say that with wrestling and how unpredictable wrestling is, you just never know.”
In addition to WWE and NWA, Impact Wrestling held several women’s events as part of their One Night Only series of shows, titled ‘Knockouts Knockdown.’
Dealing with Fans
Like many wrestlers, Cargill has had her fair share of toxic fans who use social media to troll and harass her.
The issue is unfortunately much more prevalent for female wrestlers, but Cargill hasn’t shied away from firing back with comments of her own.
When asked about dealing with toxic fans, Cargill said it’s important to have a thick skin, but people shouldn’t be shocked with a response.
“If you’re in this position you should be okay with taking criticism and taking people’s judgments and opinions about you. It’s just when you [fans] throw something, be able to take it back.
“This is what we do. This is our job. We’re entertainment and you can’t throw stuff at an entertainer and don’t think we’re not gonna spin it back.”
Cargill and other AEW stars recently called out a fan on Twitter for comments made about Marina Shafir.
The AEW women’s locker room and wrestling podcaster JDfromNY206 have gotten into a war of words today on Twitter.
JD has been a vocal critic in the internet wrestling community for years now. His “Off the Script” podcast has become quite popular and sometimes his opinions garner a response from the wrestlers themselves.
Alexa Bliss recently responded to JD’s podcast after he criticized her main eventing an episode of WWE RAW with IYO SKY.
Britt Baker, Jade Cargill & The AEW Women’s Locker Room Respond To JDfromNY
Earlier today, popular wrestling podcaster JDfromNY responded to the announcement that Marina Shafir will battle Jade Cargill this Wednesday on Dynamite. He had a negative reaction to the match and Jade Cargill responded to him.
Damn. I heard you all the way from your moms basement. Calm down Mark. https://t.co/euFKdjAROd
A wrestling fan sent a question to JD wondering if the wrestlers don’t realize that he is talking about the characters they play and not them personally. JD claimed that they do not realize that and Britt Baker responded with a screen shot of JD personally criticizing her.
This you? You’ve been pushing this narrative for months. Nothing to do with the character I play on TV. You don’t know me and you have no idea what goes on behind the scenes. You can judge the wrestler you see on TV, but not the person behind it.

TBS Champion Jade Cargill had some more words for JD after he criticized her for insulting him.
Better insults? Like what? Like I’ll buy your whack ass podcast IN REAL LIFE??!Don’t f*** with my coworkers. It’s 11:44a on a SUNDAY and I wake up to you trying to sh** on someone. Don’t sh** on anyone when I doubt your ass can do a pull up on your BEST DAY

AEW star Rebel added that their response is not just about a singular post and claimed that he has a history of slander.
He’s not a Victim. Opinions are one thing. This is not about a singular post, he has a history of insults, False accusations, defamation, slander and libel. Enough is enough.

READ it again @JDfromNY206 your defensiveness is not allowing you to see straight. “This is not about a singular post” YOU KNOW what YOU have said. Not about me. ALL the women.
Sonny Kiss added that it is hilarious for JD to try and play the victim now that someone has responded to his criticism.
That’s what I’m trying to understand. He’s upset that someone clapped back at something rude he’s said? Like, honestly it was about time. Hilarious that he’s trying to play victim now.
Snoop Dogg appeared for AEW on the January 6, 2021 edition of Dynamite, which was the company’s ‘New Year’s Smash’ special.
Appearing in the corner of Cody Rhodes for his match with Matt Sydal, the rap legend would get physical himself later on, delivering a frog-splah to Serpentico.
Rhodes would then deliver a three-count, given Snoop an unofficial victory in AEW.
Snoop was one of the four judges for season one of the Go-Big Show, which Rhodes is also a judge for.
Snoop and WWE
Snoop has appeared for AEW, but the vast majority of his wrestling appearances have come with WWE.
The rapper was the Master of Ceremonies for a women’s tag team match at WrestleMania, and later shared a kiss with Maria Kanellis, who won the match alongside Ashley Massaro.
In March 2016, Snoop was inducted into the celebrity wing of the WWE Hall of Fame the night before WrestleMania 32.
At WrestleMania, Snoop would perform for the entrance of his cousin Sasha Banks, who unsuccessfully competed for the WWE Women’s Championship.
AEW’s very own Jade Cargill brought her presence to a recent event for the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship promotion.
The inaugural, and reigning AEW TBS Champion, Cargill appeared at last night’s event ‘BKFC 30’, and participated in the walk-out entrance for Bare Knuckle Fighting Champion Lorenzo Hunt.
Cargill brought her championship title with her for the show and was addressed by commentary as you can hear in the video below.
The fight saw Hunt face Quentin Henry for the vacant BKFC Cruiserweight championship, with Hunt would win.
There was controversy in the fight, as at one point, Hunt punched Quentin in the head, and the latter was not moving.
As Henry’s corner tried to rouse him, Hunt argued that what would have been an illegal punch from him missed, and that Henry was seeking a disqualification win to capture the title.
After several minutes, referee Dan Miragliotta agreed with Hunt’s assessment and Hunt would win the fight and title in the third round.
AEW’s Crossover Star?
Cargill’s appearance at BKFC was notable, but the reigning AEW TBS Champion has bigger plans in the future.
Speaking last month to The New York Daily News, Cargill expressed a desire to be as big a star as The Rock, now a leading man in Hollywood.
“I aspire to be like a female Rock. I really do. I think I have the look, I think I have the aura.”
AEW TBS Champion Jade Cargill.
Cargill remains undefeated in AEW, though there’s no word on if any possible acting roles have caught her eye so far.
In a tweet, Cargill also expressed a desire to try fighting for Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship.
The upcoming AEW Fight Forever video game will be historic in multiple ways. In addition to being the first console game from All Elite Wrestling, the game’s promotional artwork will be groundbreaking in its own right.
Jade Cargill will make history when she graces the cover of the upcoming AEW Fight Forever video game. After dozens of wrestling video games over the past three decades, Cargill will be the first Black woman on the cover of a wrestling video game.
On Monday, the leader of the Baddies shared on Twitter that she’s feeling #blessed over the career milestone.
“Just found out that I’m the first black woman on the cover of a wrestling video game #blessed.”
– Jade Cargill
Along with Jade Cargill, CM Punk, Jon Moxley, Kenny Omega, Britt Baker and Chris Jericho are also featured. Here is the cover art for AEW Fight Forever, which you can pre-order now from Amazon.
Cargill made her promotional debut in November 2020 when she interrupted Cody Rhodes. This eventually led to her teaming with Shaquille O’Neal for a mixed tag team match against Rhodes and Red Velvet. Originally, the bout was supposed to feature Brandi Rhodes, who was pulled from the match due to her pregnancy.
As the reigning TBS Champion, Cargill remains undefeated.
AEW Fight Forever
All Elite Wrestling is gearing up to present its first-ever video game, AEW: Fight Forever. An official release date has yet to be released, but the game is available for pre-order with a tentative date of December 31, 2022.
It will be released on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo® Switch. There will be a career mode and a wide range of customization modes.
Several match types, including Unsanctioned Lights-Out and Exploding Barbed Wire Death Matches will be featured.
Jade Cargill has reacted to comparisons she’s received to Goldberg and Chyna.
Cargill was recently interviewed on The Game 92.9, where she was asked about the comparisons she’s received to the likes of Chyna and WWE Hall Of Famer Goldberg. While Cargill is honored by the comparisons, she maintains she’s her own person.
“I love what these two phenomenal, phenomenal people represent: beauty, posture, dominance, just running through people,” Cargill said.
“I’m my own person, however. I can take these attributes from these amazing wrestlers, but I’m myself. I’m Jade Cargill. I have a different path than both of these phenomenal people.”
Cargill has been extremely impressive throughout her run with All Elite Wrestling (AEW). One of the biggest reasons she finds herself compared to Goldberg is because she’s currently undefeated. Her record sits at 35-0 and she reigns as the inaugural TBS Champion for 211 days-straight.
Goldberg racked up an amazing 173-0 undefeated record before ultimately being defeated by Kevin Nash. As for her comparisons to Chyna, both she and Cargill are physically imposing women whose physicality dominates inside the ring.
Chyna helped break down barriers, winning the Intercontinental Championship as well as the WWE Women’s Title. Cargill hopes to make a similar impact throughout her run with AEW.
Athena reflected on her feud with Jade Cargill, how it began, and some new details around it.
Athena & Jade Cargill’s History
Back in March of 2022, Athena and Jade Cargill teased a match between the two through a fiery Twitter exchange. It now appears that this exchange happened before Athena’s AEW plans were set in stone.
This exchange was a catalyst for Athena’s first feud in AEW against Jade Cargill and The Baddies. Athena made her AEW debut at AEW Double or Nothing following Jade’s TBS Title defense against Anna Jay. Since then, the two have been in a deep rivalry.
In recent weeks, Athena has been partnering with Willow Nightingale and Kris Statlander to take on Jade and The Baddies. Athena recently teamed with Willow Nightingale on the July 20 episode of Dynamite to take on Jade Cargill and Keira Hogan.
“Well, yeah, for sure. But I look at this as an opportunity to kind of go into something massive to show people not only what I can do as a high flyer, a technician a strong man at times. And I look at like the collaborative effort that could be there. Right? Jade Cargill is a megastar. You just look at this woman, and you see her on the TV, and you’re like, ‘Hold on, let me flip back a couple more channels. What was- what was this Amazon woman I just saw right here?’ And she looks great doing it. And she owns that persona, which is even more fantastic. Because she has a character. Right? A lot of women they’re like, Oh, I’m the good girl. I’m the bad girl. Right? I’m all attitude. I am. I don’t know if I’m supposed to be a good guy different. So that dies. I just gotta say what I say do what I do, and just kind of wait people like me. It’s weird. But when you look at someone like Jade Cargill, it’s just like, ‘Oh, that’s a challenge.’ That’s something I need in my life, right?,” Athena said
How Their Feud Began
The 15-year veteran continued, “And it started on Twitter. Before I even like, before we even got into the final talks of me coming officially to AEW. And it was just like, ‘Ou, there’s something here.’ And like, just me going, ‘Hmm?’ With a little face responding to who’s next just went viral and then she responded. Then I responded. And it just blew out of the water. So it kind of started on Twitter. So thank you blue bird, you did the swimming. But like I think people were so interested in that feud.
And they’re like, ‘Oh, when is this happening?’ Then the Joker thing happened and I kind of I already knew I was going when the Joker happened. So, me and my husband we got on free. We’re like, ‘This is pretape.’ because we knew that weekend I was going. So, we’re like, ‘Oh no, still in Texas.'”
How Much The Feud Means To Athena
And so it was it was just really cool to just be able to go into a main feud right away because I feel like it’s been so long since one I got a singles run. Like not like a singles run, like when the other undefeated streak was alive. Telling stories are so important to what we do in pro wrestling, right, because that’s what gets people invested and coming into this story with Jade Cargill. Like, that means a lot to me.
Athena: I’m Gonna Knock Her Flat On Her Ass
So I want to put all of my effort, all of my emotion, all of my physical well-being into this, to make it good to make people relate to, ‘Hey, like, I’m 5’1. I don’t care that she’s six foot.’ Whatever, like, I don’t care, I’m gonna knock her flat on her ass. That’s what I do. You know. And like, the one thing that has stayed true throughout my entire career is that, like, if there’s a challenge there, it doesn’t matter how many times I get knocked down, I’m going to beat that challenge. And I don’t think people really know that about me as a person. Like, I’ve had so many tryouts in the former life. That like, I was like, ‘Nah, I’m kicking this door down, baby. We’re gonna get there, right? We’re gonna get there and though.’ I finally got there, so like, that’s just the type of person I am.
Maybe it’s because I’m a massive gamer, that I will sit here and rage play every game until I till I have a mental breakdown. But like, that’s me. It’s like, I’m going to beat the big monster. I’m going to beat the big bad at the end of the adventure. I like to win. That’s what I do. You know? And it’s just like an alpha mentality of just like, I gotta be the best. I’m gonna beat the best to be the best. You gotta beat this Hussy here. I’m gotta say the (unintelligible) because I don’t want someone to come after me with DNCAs and all that stuff.
Athena Imagines Epic Battle With Jade
But you guys get what I’m saying is that like, this person who has made a career out of nothing in the pro wrestling world, because she was very accomplishable before she got here. Out of nothing in the pro wrestling world, who is at the top of the mountain right now. And I’m like, ‘I want to kick her off this mountain.’ Even then, even if I don’t kick her off the mountain because we all know it’s pro wrestling, right? Like, I want people to remember what I did at the top of that mountain that we had this epic battle on top of Olympus and lightning was striking and angels were weeping and fire from Hell was blazing up and I want it to be that I want to do this epic, like rock battle, if you will.”
Athena’s AEW Record
Athena received her first loss in AEW this past week on AEW Dynamite. Her current AEW 2022 record is 3-1 and she is not yet ranked. However, due to this feud, it is more than likely that Athena will become ranked and will challenge Jade Cargill for the TBS Championship.
It appears that AEW TBS Champion Jade Cargill has had enough of the social media negativity. She has deactivated her Twitter account.
This isn’t the first time the current champion has deactivated her Twitter. She turned off her account on the social site back in December 2021 as well.
At the time, Cargill had explained her move on Instagram. She had noted that she was spending too much time on social media, so she decided to leave at least one of the platforms. Since she made money on Instagram, Jade chose Twitter:
“Goodbye Twitter. I was spending wayyyyyy too much time on social. One of my social apps had to go. I make money on IG. So that was easy. 15 mins turned into 30. Wasn’t getting anything done. Lol deactivating was the best thing.“
Jade Cargil recently crossed 500 days in her undefeated streak in AEW on July 16. For comparison, Goldberg’s legendary undefeated streak at the start of his WCW career lasted a total of 462 days.
The AEW star made her in-ring debut back in March 2021. She teamed up with Shaquille O’Neal to defeat Cody Rhodes and Red Velvet in her debut match.
The female star became the Inaugural TBS champion during the January 5 edition of Dynamite. She defeated Ruby Soho in the finals of the TBS championship tournament.

Rockford are proud to introduce something special we have been cooking up in our furnaces with 13x Times Women’s Wrestling Champion Ashley Fliehr...
Months of collaboration, dozens of designs, proud of this collection. Presenting :
Flair hasn’t been on WWE television since losing an “I Quit” match to Ronda Rousey at WWE WrestleMania Backlash. At the event, it was announced that Charlotte suffered a storyline “fractured radius” during the bout. It is unknown when Charlotte will return to television. Charlotte is currently off WWE TV due to her officially getting married to AEW’s Andrade El Idolo.
Other Wrestlers Fashion/Beauty Collaborations
Charlotte is not the only WWE Superstar to explore ventures outside of WWE. Back in February, the Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair began her partnership with Fenty Beauty. Five days ago, Bianca last promoted Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty cosmetic brand.

Bianca Belair is not the only pro wrestling personality affiliated with Fenty. AEW TBS Champion Jade Cargill has also been promoting the brand on social media. Cargill has promoted the SAVAGE x FENTY lingerie line for a long time now with her last promotion post being on May 22.

The Bellas have created an empire in the fashion world with their brand called BirdieBee. Through the brand, they have had their merchandise at WrestleMania Axxess and have an extremely successful online shop. Their shop features transitional intimates, activewear, and loungewear apparel.
A number of wrestling personalities were in attendance for the beginning of the second half of the NASCAR Cup Series season with Quaker State 400.
The Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair shared some photos from the show. The pictures also featured Montez Ford and WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Bella.
From AEW’s side, the TBS Champion Jade Cargill made an appearance. The company shared photos of her at Atlanta Motor Speedway, noting that she was the guest of honor for the race:
This is not the first-time wrestling personalities have made appearances during the NASCAR Cup Series event. Suspended star Sasha Banks was named the grand marshal for Daytona 500 last year.
The Street Profits have been feuding with The Usos in recent times. They had an impressive match at Money In The Bank and a rematch for the unified tag titles has been announced for SummerSlam.
Bianca Belair similarly defended her title against Carmella at Money In The Bank. Nikki Bella on the other hand is enjoying her life as a mother and retired WWE star with no immediate plans for a return.
Jade Cargill is on the run of a lifetime since winning the TBS championship in January. She has been a dominant champion and impressed everyone with her title reign despite very little experience in the ring.
Could an AEW faction be on the verge of getting a new member?
When it comes to several wrestling promotions, factions are tried and true. AEW is no exception as there are plenty of stables within the company. Members of factions come and go and one group could be adding a new member.
With that said, this potential member likely won’t have an easy time getting into the faction.
Fresh Name For The Baddies?
(via AEW)
During the Blood & Guts edition of AEW Dynamite, Jade Cargill successfully defended her TBS Championship against Leila Grey. After the match, Jade and her manager Stokely Hathaway, cut a promo before being interrupted by Kris Statlander and Athena.
Hathaway convinced Grey to stop Athena from hitting her finishing move on Jade. Grey shoved Athena off the top rope and attacked her before Cargill shoved her away.
Grey went to shake Stokely’s hand but Jade once again shoved her away.
Stokley has been seeking a new addition for The Baddies. The faction is down one less member after Red Velvet suffered an injury.
Fans will now wait to see whether Leila Grey got played or if she’ll have to work harder to gain the trust of The Baddies.
An AEW championship match has been added to tonight’s (June 29) Dynamite card.
Dynamite will emanate from Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan. The main attraction of this show will be the big Blood & Guts match involving members of the Blackpool Combat Club and the Jericho Appreciation society.
Eddie Kingston and Santana & Ortiz will also be involved in the match.
That isn’t all for tonight’s episode, however. We’ve also got a title match to look forward to.
TBS Championship at Stake
TBS Champion Jade Cargill demanded an open challenge for her gold and that’s exactly what she will get. Leila Grey has stepped up to the plate to challenge Cargill.
Going into this title match, Jade has an unbeaten record in AEW of 33-0.
Also featured on the show will be a one-on-one match between Orange Cassidy and Ethan Page of Men of the Year. OC is fresh off a thrilling match with Will Ospreay at Forbidden Door and even though he lost, Cassidy is riding a wave of momentum following his efforts.
We will also hear from Christian Cage just one week after cutting a promo where he mentioned the death of Jungle Boy’s father and seemingly manipulated Luchasaurus.
Stick with us on the SEScoops homepage as we’ll be bringing you live coverage of AEW Dynamite.
AEW star Kris Statlander spoke with SEScoops correspondent Jaychele Nicole this week.
Since AEW Double Or Nothing, we have seen Statlander pair up with Athena and sometimes other women in the division to take on Jade Cargill and The Baddies. Kris Statlander has long been a crowd favorite. Particularly in her Owen Hart Tournament match with Ruby Soho, Statlander was able to turn the crowd around and gain overwhelming support during the match.
Kris Statlander’s Feud With Red Velvet
Kris has been in a feud with Red Velvet who she has a long history with. Prior to Kris’ recent character change, she teamed with Red Velvet and Leyla Hirsch a few times. Leyla would eventually turn on Kris and Velvet, which led to Statlander’s character change. When Hikaru Shida needed to be replaced in the Women’s Owen Hart tournament, Statlander took her place and defeated Red Velvet to advance. They also faced off on the June 10 edition of AEW Rampage where Statlander once again defeated Velvet.
Kris Statlander commented on the possibility of her feud with Red Velvet continuing despite the history of their friendship.
Stalander said, “Uh, it might. If it is, I am not complaining because she’s small and she’s very easy to throw. And you know, when we were friends I loved her to death and you know, everyone goes their separate ways sometimes friends don’t last forever, unfortunately. But I don’t mind if she’s someone that I have to see all the time.”
Statlander On Slapping The Back Of Stokely Hathaway’s Head
Statlander recently slapped Jade Cargill’s publicist Stokely Hathaway on the June 17 edition of Rampage. Following Willow Nightingale’s match with Jade Cargill for the TBS Championship, Kris Statlander came out to help rescue Willow and Athena from the beatdown that they were receiving from Jade and The Baddies (Kiera Hogan and Red Velvet). While running down to the ring, Statlander slapped Stokely on the back of the head before getting into the ring.
Kris Statlander slapping the shit out of Stokely Hathaway on her way down to the ring was fucking hilarious hahahah #AEWRampagepic.twitter.com/KrZ8z63uis
Statlander had the following to say about slapping Stokely, “I mean, I saw him as I was getting ready to run out. I saw him walking down there. And I was like, ‘Oh, he deserves it because he’s annoying that he had it coming.’ So, I guess you can say, sort of planned it as in like, we all want to. But, just when the opportunity arrives. Oh, it was gonna happen for sure.”
Statlander On Working With Willow Nightingale
Statlander and Athena said on the June 22 that they had Willow Nightingale in their corner when taking on Jade and The Baddies. Willow has been a big crowd favorite and has received great reactions during her AEW appearances. Willow took on Mercedes Martinez at ROH Supercard of Honor for the Interim ROH Women’s Championship back in April. Since they, Willow has been fighting off Jade and The Baddies.
Statlander spoke about the possibility of Willow joining her and Athena and Willow being on TV more.
“I hope so considering that we said that we had her on our side. So, it’d be great if she were able to join us. So yeah, I really hope that you know if there ever comes a time to do maybe we gotta take down Jade and The Baddies all together as a group. I do hope that she’s one that’s on our side. She’s someone that I’ve known for a very long time, way before AEW, so I love working with her,” Statlander commented.
The Possibility Of Kris Statlander Vs Jade Cargill
Kris Statlander vs Jade Cargill for the TBS Championship is a match that has been long hyped up. Many believe that Kris Statlander may be the first person to defeat Jade Cargill, and that she will be the one to take the belt away from Jade. Especially during her recent feud with Jade and The Baddies, many believes that the booking around the TBS Championship may be working towards having Kris finally challenge Jade. These two have never faced each other one on one.
When asked about the possibility of facing Jade and what fans could expect from the match, Kris said, “I’m gonna say you’re gonna see Jade’s toughest challenge ever. Yet. Ever, maybe, we’ll see. But um, I appreciate everyone that’s supporting the idea of me being the first one to beat her. That would be really cool, but we gotta get the match booked first. So don’t don’t get your hopes up until we see that graphic. Okay. That’s all I’m gonna say is, if it happens, it happens if it doesn’t. Don’t get your panties in a twist over it. Life goes on. I’ll get something one day, maybe one day will be my time to shine, but if not.”

On November 6, 1992, a 20-year-old Shaquille O’Neal made his NBA debut for the Orlando Magic, picking up 12 points, 3 blocks, and 18 rebounds against the Miami Heat — the most in an NBA debut since Bill Walton in 1974. After a week of games, Shaq became the first person in NBA history to be named Player of the Week in his first week in the league. He would continue to set records in his debut year, becoming the first rookie to start in the NBA All-Star game since Michael Jordan and winning the 1993 Rookie of the Year in a landslide vote.
Five months earlier, on June 3, 1992, 100 miles southeast of Orlando in Vero Beach, Florida, the current AEW TBS Champion, Jade Cargill, was born. Like Shaq, Cargill was athletically gifted from a young age — a three-time high school basketball Team MVP who helped her teams to two district championships. She continued to excel in basketball at Jacksonville University — where she graduated with a social science degree — being named to the Atlantic Sun Preseason First Team and leading in rebounds and steals for the 2012-13 season.
Not seeing a bright financial future in women’s basketball, Cargill ultimately put her hoop dreams on hold, choosing to raise a family with her partner, MLB All-Star Brandon Phillips, and earn her master’s in child psychology. But Cargill remained athletically inclined, continuing to work on her strength conditioning while also landing gigs as a fitness model. Eventually, her basketball past would come back into the picture when she crossed paths with Shaq in an entirely different sporting arena.
Once again, the location was Florida, this time the Daily’s Place amphitheater in Downtown Jacksonville — the open-roofed venue that housed Tony Khan’s All Elite Wrestling during the pandemic. On March 3, 2021, almost three decades since Shaq’s NBA debut, the basketball icon made his pro-wrestling debut alongside Cargill, also making her first in-ring appearance, live on TNT in front of 1.1 million viewers.
This match was the culmination of a divisive storyline that saw former AEW stars Cody and Brandi Rhodes embroiled in a vitriolic war of words with the NBA legend and the pro-wrestling newcomer. Teaming with Cody for the night was the fiery up-and-comer, Red Velvet, stepping in for the pregnant Brandi to take on the imposing duo of Cargill and Shaq. As with any celebrity-involved wrestling match, the potential for disaster was ever-present — add on top of that a rookie making her in-ring debut, a car crash spectacle was likely and even anticipated in some circles.

To the surprise of many, the match was a resounding success — an entertaining blockbuster chockful of shocks and thrills. And while Shaq might have grabbed the early headlines for his performance, which included an impressive crash landing through a table, Cargill was the true star. After all, this marquee match was designed as a platform to introduce Cargill to wrestling and introduce wrestling fans to Cargill. Sure, Shaq was the name that brought them into the building, but he’d soon be back jaw-jacking with Charles Barkley from the comfort of his studio desk. Cargill was the one with a multi-year AEW contract who would have to face the ruthlessly opinionated wrestling fans week in and week out. It was a high-pressure situation — trial by bodyslams and suplexes.
The match had its flaws and hiccups, to be expected of someone’s first-ever match, but Cargill carried herself with the confidence of someone who belonged. With a body that looked chiseled by Michelangelo and eye-catching platinum blond hair, she commanded attention the moment she walked onto the stage. It was evident from this one match that Cargill had the potential to be something special in the world of wrestling — she had that unquantifiable ‘it’ factor that just can’t be taught.
Jade Cargill’s Entry into Pro Wrestling
Wrestling wasn’t on the agenda for Cargill just a few years prior. In college, she had goals of becoming a psychologist, or a lobbyist, with a particular focus on health care. While growing up, she was drawn to wrestling’s Attitude Era and empowered by badass women like Chyna and Jacqueline, but a career in pro-wrestling was a completely alien concept. That changed when she met WWE Hall of Famer and current AEW broadcaster Mark Henry. The former strongman has had a distinguished in-ring career in his own right but has perhaps found even more success as a talent scout, responsible for finding future stars, including current WWE Women’s Champion Bianca Belair.

Impressed by her attitude and athleticism, Henry set Cargill up with a WWE tryout. Her journey once again took her to Florida, where she was one of several athletes in attendance at the company’s Performance Center in Orlando. “Henry told me how serious [the wrestling business] was,” Cargill said in an interview with Muscle & Fitness. “He told me about the time management that I would have to do, the dedication… being on the road all the time. When I went [to the try-out], I saw that it wasn’t as easy as I thought it was, but I love challenges, and this was something that I picked up and didn’t want to put back down.”
Cargill quickly caught the wrestling bug and now had a new goal to set her mind to — she was going to become a pro-wrestler. But she was going to do it on her own terms. Being independently wealthy by this point, money was not necessarily going to be the deciding factor in her career choices. With that in mind, it’s perhaps unsurprising that she turned down a contract offer from WWE — partly due to an off-putting interview process that saw her grilled about her commitment to the company.
“They were like, ‘we want you, we are going to sign you. But we are kind of worried about how bad you want this,” Cargill recalled on the Talk Is Jericho podcast. The discussion turned to Cargill’s then two-year-old daughter and how the young mother would balance her home life with her work life. Cargill had considered all of this already and thought about the precautions. “He was like, ‘yeah, yeah, yeah. I get what you’re saying, but this is your family now; I want you to know that.’ I was like, ‘I get it, I totally understand that, and I have thought about it, and I want it. I’ve been training for this; this is what I want.”
Cargill wasn’t lying; she was determined. After her WWE tryout, Henry had put her in touch with a number of wrestling schools, and she started training at the Face2Face Wrestling Academy in Atlanta, run by Richard Borger, Heath Slater, and Teddy Long. She was out there giving it her all, taking the bumps and earning the bruises, so WWE doubting her commitment left a sour taste.

Superstar or All Elite?
While Cargill was perusing her 100-page WWE contract and considering whether or not to sign on the dotted line, she was invited to attend an AEW taping in Jacksonville. The upstart promotion had debuted its weekly television show Dynamite on TNT in October 2019 and was off to a tremendous start. However, the pandemic shutdowns of 2020 stifled some of the company’s momentum, particularly with no live crowds in attendance. To help create some atmosphere at the shows, AEW started using roster members and extras at ringside. It was usually Austin Gunn stealing attention with his overenthusiastic heckling, but one Wednesday night in September 2020, fans’ eyes were drawn to a tall blond positioned at ringside.
Viewers continued to wonder who this mysterious woman was as Cargill became a regular at AEW events. Meanwhile, Cargill’s good friend and fellow pro-wrestler EJ Nduka urged her to sign her WWE contract. Nduka himself had signed a development deal with WWE in August 2019 and couldn’t understand Cargill’s hesitation. Well, Cargill would soon sign a contract — just not with WWE. After weeks of appearing in the crowd at AEW, Cargill eventually made her way into the ring to interrupt Cody mid-promo. It was official — Jade Cargill was All Elite.
“I came [to AEW], got the experience, and I felt calm,” she said on TIJ. “It made me feel at ease about the decision I wanted to make. I didn’t have to relocate; I felt at home. I could call [Tony Khan] and talk to him, and he knew my name. He knew my purpose, he knew that I wanted to do this, and that mattered to me. I wasn’t just a number. He knew exactly who I was, and that made me feel comfortable.”
Cargill’s decision came as a shock to Nduka. “I remember when I told him I was thinking about coming [to AEW], he couldn’t believe it. ‘Why would you ever choose AEW over WWE?’” Cargill recalled him saying. WWE had been the only game in town for almost 20 years, at least in scale, television exposure, revenue, and brand recognition. For many, like Nduka, WWE was the ultimate dream. AEW was still in its embryonic stages; sure, it had financial backing, a great TV deal, and an impressive roster, but it was (and is) a new and growing company. However, Cargill didn’t see that as a negative; she viewed it as part of the challenge.
“Yes, the other company was pissed off that they sent me a 100-page contract, but I made the best decision for my family and for myself,” she explained. “I’ve always been a believer and I’ve always been an underdog. I love being the underdog and we’re hungry. I want to be part of something that is hungry and wants to change things. That’s why I came here.”
She also felt more security at AEW at a time when WWE was releasing dozens upon dozens of wrestlers due to company-wide “budget cuts.” One of those released was Nduka, who was let go from WWE in May 2021, having never even had a chance to debut on television. “He was so for this company, and look at him,” Cargill said. “I’m like, ‘damn, that sucks. You were all about [WWE], we talked about this, you tried to convince me to come over, you just had a baby, your wife passed the bar in Florida for your career.’ It sucks. I know I made the best decision.”
In that same year, when other athletes from Cargill’s WWE tryout were either released from the company or still performing drill practice in the Performance Center, she was on prime-time TV, essentially learning on the job. Of course, there were stumbling blocks, but Cargill showed improvement with every match she had. She was now regularly training with AEW’s QT Marshall and wrestling legend Dustin Rhodes, adding new tricks to her repertoire. With that in-ring experience came a better sense of her character and an ability to connect with the audience. A masterful pairing with the sleazy ‘Smart’ Mark Sterling only added to the Jade Brand presentation, giving her a sidekick to bounce off and flex her promo muscles as she climbed up the ranks in AEW.
“Can it be nerve-wracking? It can be. Being compared to people that have been doing this for five and 10 years,” Cargill said of her time in AEW so far. “But people are experiencing something raw right now, and I’m not only on a journey myself, but everybody is on a journey with me, and they are going to see me continuously grow… I’m excited to show people tools that they have never seen before.”
Championship Material
On January 5, 2022, just 10 months after Cargill made her in-ring debut, she became AEW’s first-ever TBS Champion. To be entrusted with such responsibility so early in her career shows how important Cargill has become to the AEW brand. Since winning the title, Cargill’s confidence and star power have only grown. Her most recent work — including matches with Anna Jay and Marina Shafir — has been the best of her young career. This has translated into her mic work, too; compare her somewhat stilted first in-ring promo to her recent promo on Dynamite, where she talked with ease in front of a rowdy, packed-out crowd in Boston.
In just a little over a year, Cargill has garnered a loyal base of supporters and won over the most critical of naysayers. She’s even earned her share of celebrity admirers, such as High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens, Straight Outta Compton actor O’Shea Jackson Jr., and rapper Westside Gunn. It’s not a leap to imagine Cargill herself on the big screen one day — perhaps playing her dream role of Storm from The X-Men. “I love what [Storm] portrays. I love her character. I’m a strong black woman, and she’s a strong black woman,” Cargill told Bleacher Report.
For now, Cargill is focused on her AEW career, where she remains undefeated at 30-0. The former basketball hopeful has risen from unknown quantity to a reliable ratings draw. She’s gone from “Who’s that?” to “That bitch” within a year. In addition to winning the TBS Championship, she was recently named PWI’s 2021 Rookie of the Year and AEW’s Female Breakout Star of the Year. Her star will only continue to rise in the coming years as she perfects her craft and establishes her legacy.
In 30 years from now, Cargill should be able to look back on a legendary career that transcended her sport, just like Shaq. In fact, put money on it.
Jade Cargill has taken some pointers from Bryan Danielson.
Danielson isn’t just one of AEW’s top stars, he’s also become a bit of a mentor backstage. One rising star who Danielson has kept his eyes on is Cargill, who is the inaugural TBS Champion.
In fact, Danielson even admitted on The Masked Man Show that he’s “jealous” of Jade’s ability to come across as a big star so quickly.
Learning From A Legend
While Cargill’s wrestling journey is in its beginning stages, Danielson has been around the block for many years. Speaking to Muscle and Fitness, Jade Cargill shared some of the things she has learned from Bryan Danielson.
“I’m learning a whole different style of wrestling. Grappling and that sort of thing. I’m used to the ‘big man’ style of just throwing people. He is such an intelligent man, he has so much knowledge.
“Right now, I’m actually getting more in-tune with British wrestling and prior to this I didn’t have much knowledge of it, and how different the style is but also how technical it is, so I’m learning all of that right now and trying to fit it into my form of wrestling. It’s a blessing, I’m very thankful.”
Cargill is scheduled to put her TBS Title on the line at the AEW Revolution PPV on March 6. She’ll go one-on-one with Tay Conti inside the Addition Financial Arena in Orlando, Florida.

Bryan Danielson admits Jade Cargill has a certain quality that makes him a bit jealous.
Cargill made her AEW debut back in Nov. 2020. Since that time, she has been on a tear and is the inaugural TBS Champion. Cargill has also been a ratings draw for AEW as her match with Ruby Soho on Dynamite’s TBS debut outdrew Hangman Page vs. Bryan Danielson in most demos.
Danielson Speaks On Cargill’s Star Power
Bryan Danielson was a guest on the Masked Man Show and revealed why he’s a bit jealous of Jade Cargill (via Fightful).
“Pro wrestling is very unique in the sense that anybody if they work hard enough, can get pretty good at this. Whether you make a living from it, that’s a different thing, but can get pretty good at the technical aspects of professional wrestling.
“Again, I think that comes down to a certain discipline. In my short time working with her, she works very hard. She…can I say that I’m jealous? [Laughs]. In the sense that, she’s been wrestling a little over ten months, maybe now 11 months, and she comes out with more presence and looks like more of a star than I have ever looked in my entire career.”
Cargill has defeated the likes of Thunder Rosa, Ruby Soho, Red Velvet, Anna Jay, and others. She is approaching the two-month mark of her TBS Championship reign.
TBS Champion Jade Cargill has commented on why she decided to sign with AEW over WWE. Cargill was on the Talk is Jericho podcast and revealed she was offered a contract to sign with WWE prior to joining AEW.
“So they sent the contract, they wanted me to do it,” she explained. “AEW came about, and I came here, I got the experience, and I felt calm. I remember you and I had this conversation in the car. It made me feel at ease about the decision that I wanted to make, I didn’t have to relocate, I felt at home.”
Cargill said Tony Khan’s availability to talent made her feel comfortable in AEW.
“I could call the owner of our company and talk to him, you know, he knew my name and knew my purpose,” she said. “He knew that I wanted to do this and that I wasn’t just a number. He knew exactly who I was, so that made me feel comfortable.”
AEW Offered More Security
(via AEW)
Cargill related her experience with AEW to that of her friend, E. J. Nduka, in WWE. She noted that Nduka, who is now with MLW, gave up everything to commit to WWE but he was cut with no warning or reason.
“There’s more security, there’s a safety net here,” she said. “Like I said, I just named one of my friends [Nduka] who gave up everything he had, had a newborn baby, and got cut with no warning. He gave everything. I remember when I told him I was thinking about coming here, he couldn’t believe it. Why would you ever choose [AEW over WWE]? And I’m like, you don’t understand, I feel good here. I don’t want to be cut. I don’t want to have to worry.”
WWE cut over 80 wrestlers in 2021, including Nduka. WWE also announced that they brought in over $1 billion in profits last year, making it their most profitable year ever.
Jade Cargill is still undefeated in AEW and in her professional wrestling career. She holds a 26-0 record. In her most recent match, Cargill successfully defended her title against Julie Hart on last week’s AEW Rampage.
The person who I was talking about in the podcast was @EjTheJudge . Man is beyond committed to his craft! Keep your eyes on this man!!!
All Elite Wrestling superstar Jade Cargill appreciates fans comparing her to wrestling legend Goldberg.
The State of Florida Sports Podcast’s Tim Walters interviewed Cargill about her successful run in AEW. She kept her undefeated streak alive and won her 26th match on Jan. 28 against Julia Hart. The booking of Cargill reminds fans of Goldberg’s undefeated streak in WCW. The AEW TBS Champion finds it flattering when asked about the Goldberg comparisons.
“It’s amazing. It feels great. Being that I have no type of wrestling background prior to my first match Mar. 3. It’s breathtaking. It feels amazing for me to be compared to somebody with such a stature, and I’m blessed. Our owner Tony Khan put me in a remarkable position, and I’m grateful. I work hard, but I’m very grateful,” said Cargill.
Jade Cargill’s Undefeated Streak
AEW has treated Cargill as a dominant force in the women’s division since her first match. She teamed with NBA legend Shaquille O’ Neal to defeat Cody Rhodes and Red Velvet in her debut match on Mar. 3, 2020. Since winning the tag team match, Cargill has defeated the likes of Santana Garrett, Leyla Hirsch, and Thunder Rosa. To become the TBS Champion, Cargill also defeated Ruby Soho at AEW Dynamite on Jan. 5. At 26-0, it is unclear how long her employers will extend her winning streak.
How Chyna Influenced Jade Cargill
Later in the interview, Cargill revealed that WWE legend Chyna inspired her before getting into professional wrestling. She praised Chyna for her presence on TV and making her feel comfortable about her body, as Cargill loved to exercise and be fit growing up.
“…Chyna made you put down whatever you were doing and watch her. Her presence was unmatched. I don’t think anybody else to me, to this day, made me sit down and focus on what she was doing,” said Cargill. She continued, “…She made me love my body more than anything. She was different. She looked different than everybody else that was in the divas’ era. So she looked totally different, her build was different, her confidence was different, and I grew up very muscular, and the fact that she loved herself, she loved what she was doing, she loved her body, it made me love myself more than anything. If anything, she helped my confidence rise to a remarkable chunk, and I felt good about myself growing up.”
The AEW TBS Champion hopes to continue her success and influence young girls as Chyna did.
Jim Ross recently mentioned that he believes AEW TBS Champion Jade Cargill still has a lot of work left to do in her development.
“I said, ‘you’ve got a lot of work to do’,” Jim Ross said he told Jade Cargill. “Talked to her about this yesterday and I said, ‘you know, in basketball, a sport you did really well in, you gotta learn things that go along with the game, for example, in basketball you gotta learn how to shoot free throws. In wrestling, there are certain things you gotta learn how to do that are critical in the maturation of a pro wrestler. Taking a flat-back bump, doing crisp strikes, not being stupid, that type thing’. She’s really smart and she wants to be really, really good.”
He continued to say that he spoke to Cargill about how right now, her look is her meal ticket. Ross also said Cargill needs to be constantly working at her craft.
“Once your look is exposed for several weeks and what have you, it becomes not as special,” Ross continued. “So you gotta bring things with your game and that’s her charge right now. She’s gotta be able to do that, that’s not going to happen overnight, I don’t even know if it’ll happen in 2022. It’s got to be constant work to be good at what you do and that’s where we are with her.”
Stay mad 💅🏾 . can’t lie. That belt looks good AF on me.
Cargill is undefeated thus far in her AEW career. Her first ever official pro-wrestling match was at AEW Cross Rhodes where she teamed with Shaq and defeated Cody Rhodes and Red Velvet. Before getting into wrestling, Cargill played for the Jacksonville University basketball team.
Cargill attended a WWE tryout camp in 2019. She is currently being trained by QT Marshall at the Nightmare Factory.
Cargill was recently awarded the PWI Rookie of the Year Award for 2021.
Jade Cargill became the first-ever AEW TBS Champion during the first edition of AEW Dynamite on TBS last week. It was the culmination of a multi-week tournament, with Cargill defeating Ruby Soho in the finals.
The match itself was a major winner for AEW, ranking at the top of the ratings for the night. Cargill appears to be a ratings winner for the company, though we’ll need to have more data to see for sure.
During a recent edition of his podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Booker T was incredibly complimentary of Cargill.
“I don’t give a damn if Jade Cargill couldn’t do a wrist lock or headlock takeover. I wouldn’t care,” Booker T said. “I would put the title on her because she’s a specimen. She’s something that we have never seen before. When you put her on the marquee, whether you think she can wrestle or jump off the top rope, you want to buy a ticket just to see her.
“Some people don’t understand this business of drawing money. When I see Jade Cargill, I see, man we can draw some money here. Then if we can teach her the ins and outs to do the little things about this business, man, we can really do something. So, when you look at someone like Cargill and you know exactly what she brings to the table just from that box, she checks all of them off. Then she gets in the ring and performs. Now we got something.”
Some have compared Cargill to Goldberg, and Booker T responded to those comparisons as well.
“For her to be compared to Goldberg, I wouldn’t say it’s 100 percent spot-on or anything like that, but I wouldn’t say it’s so far-fetched that it’s something we shouldn’t even be talking about. Both were green. Both were young in the business. Both look so impressive that you can’t do anything other than let them go out there and beat the hell out of somebody. I think Cargill is the prefect person to build something with to where people go, ‘Man, I don’t think she’s gonna ever lose the title.’”
