2014 WWE Hall of Famer Jake Roberts recently spoke with Philly.com to promote WrestleMania weekend. Here are some highlights of what he said about:
The Significance Of His Hall of Fame Induction: “There’s so much electricity in the air and so many good thoughts going through me. Nothing can take the shine off what’s about to happen because not only am I being inducted into the Hall of Fame, which is something I didn’t think would ever happen because of my out-of-the-ring antics and some of the things I said.”
Vince McMahon Forgiving Him: “People have to remember that an alcoholic and a drug addict can be known to tell a lie or two and I certainly did my share of it with lashing out and was pretty ugly about it. For Vince McMahon to forgive and forget — maybe he hasn’t forgotten, but at least he’s forgiven — and to invite me into the Hall of Fame … it’s going to be an awesome, awesome moment.”
Diamond Dallas Page Saving His Life: “There would have been no other choice other than god himself. Diamond Dallas saved my life. He didn’t have to, but that’s the kind of guy he is. He’s helped so many people with his DDP Yoga. It’s just incredible with the lives he’s changing, the lives he’s affecting. I am so honored to be part of that. Me making my journey, Scott Hall making his journey, we opened the doors for a lot of people out there that are struggling with all sorts of addictions. Whether it’s food or sex or whatever it’s still an addiction and addictions aren’t healthy.”
His New Book That Comes Out in June: “Right now, it’s 600 pages and that doesn’t even get me to the WWE years. It’s going to be a really, really intense book. I think it will help a lot of people understand more about addiction and more about people that have had struggles in their lives with sexual abuse. I’m opening the doors to my life. I’m not talking about anybody else. It’s just my own. I really look forward to having out there and traveling around and promoting it.”

The following are highlights of a new interview with Dean Ambrose:
On having big ambition when first coming to WWE: “On the real, from the day we started this and had this opportunity, it was ‘O.K., screw everybody else in the world. We’re going to take over this company and this business for the next 10 years, whatever it is. We’ll fight whatever battles we need to fight together and we’ll stick together and have each other’s backs in circumstances. It was an all-for-one, one-for-all mentality. And we’ve done that and it’s been successful. I think you see that and it comes off as very real, cause it is real.”
“Does that mean we have to be finishing each other’s sentences and smiling and happy, high fiving all the time? No. Did Guns N’ Roses like each other every night? No. Did the Kinks like each other? No. Ray Davies and his brother hated each other, but onstage, magic.”
“As long as the three of us can get to the ring together, that magic that happens when all three of us are together is going to happen, whether we were arguing about who gets to sit in the front seat earlier in the night. By the time we get out in front of the audience, that magic’s going to happen.”
On his love of the wrestling business: “My favorite part of the job now is – I think it’s the same for everybody – from the moment you walk through the curtain to the moment you walk back behind the curtain. It’s being in front of the audience and letting it all hang out, whether you’re on TV or not, or a live event or pay-per-view. Any time the red light of the camera’s on. It’s a great escape. That we have the opportunity to do something that’s so much fun for a living is a real blessing.”
“No matter how bad your day’s going, whether your flight’s delayed or whether you got stuck in traffic or whether you’re hurt, sore, tired, whatever it is – your puppy died – whatever’s going bad, once you’re out there in front of the crowd, feeling the energy and having fun letting it all hang out – that’s the payoff to me.”
“The work for me is traveling, getting in and out of the buildings and stuff like that. The pay is getting the chance to wrestle in front of the entire world on TV, in front of big crowds, just being in front of the audience getting to do what you love to do. Just performing. I love performing whether it’s a live event or a pay-per-view or whatever it is; any time that red light of the camera is on. That’s the fun part for me.”
On Old School RAW, Roddy Piper and Jake Roberts: “He [Piper] was from two eras before me, so he’s a guy you never think you’re never going to get a chance to work with. When I found out I was going to get the opportunity to do that, it was like ‘whoa.’ When you’re on the ride and you’re going so fast, it’s hard to stop and smell the roses. That was one of the things where you had to go ‘I’m on Piper’s Pit right now, that’s crazy. The real Piper’s Pit right here in front of me. That’s crazy.’ It’s hard to – I keep saying it – but it’s another one of those things that’s hard to wrap your brain around.”
“Seeing his thought process before he [Piper] does something – it’s much different today because back when he did it was all him and it was wild west and he just did and said whatever he wanted – so it’s a little bit different today; watching him work, watching him go through his process was really cool to me and really interesting. Working with him beforehand, just kind of sharing some back and forth in preparation for it was really cool.”
“Going out there on live TV with a mic against Rowdy Piper is like going out there and hitting against the best pitcher in baseball or going out there and fighting Mike Tyson on TV. It’s like having a loaded gun with Rowdy Piper with a mic in his hand. You’re out there against the absolute best with a mic in his hand. That’s a rush.”
“I didn’t know until very late about the Jake the Snake deal. That was cool too, another icing on the cake, bucket list thing. Everybody was giving me crap because I was laughing when the snake was on me. The reason I was smiling is because I could not stop laughing. It happened so quickly. The whole thing was like ‘O.K. Jake the Snake’s here. What? Of course he is.’ And, the whole thing was like some wacky; trippy I drank too much cough medicine reality.”

– The following is Jake “The Snake” Roberts’ speech from his recent MCW appearance:
The following are highlights of a new interview with Diamond Dallas Page:
On his WWE Hall Of Fame induction speech for Jake Roberts: “Now I know it’s gonna be the strongest shit I’ve ever said and I will have something planned that I’m gonna say. I’ll know what I’m going to say before I go up there, doesn’t mean I’m going to say it!”
On Triple H: “Paul Levesque aka Triple H has been one of the most solid guys I’ve ever met in this business so nobody can talk shit about him around me. You may have your own beef with him, whoever it is but no one who don’t know ain’t got nothing to say about him around me because he’s always been a stand up guy to me.”
On Ric Flair: “I love the guy, I don’t want to have heat with him, fuck that!”
Check out the complete interview above.
The following are highlights of a recent interview with Jake “The Snake” Roberts:
On DDP saving his life: “Dallas saved my life. I owe everything I have right now to him and helping me get back on the right path. It wasn’t rehab Dallas put me through. It was tough love and it sunk in more than any rehab I ever tried.”
On his “Old School RAW” appearance: “I was feeling such emotion when my old music hit and came out to the ring that night. I had been such a mess for so long and wasn’t sure I would ever be welcomed back to the WWE. I pissed off a lot of people but you never say never in this business.”
On his WWE Hall Of Fame induction: “Had I not gotten clean with Dallas’ help, I wouldn’t be going into the Hall of Fame. The WWE doesn’t want to put someone out there and not be able to trust what they will say in front of a worldwide audience. Being clean has given me another chance in life.”

At one point, Carlos Colon’s induction into the 2014 class of the WWE Hall Of Fame was to be announced at this past Monday’s edition of WWE RAW. For whatever reason, likely a timing issue, they decided to hold off.
Colon had reportedly been on the short list of legends that WWE intended to induct this year, which at the time included Paul Bearer, Lita, Ultimate Warrior, Jake Roberts, Scott Hall and Mr. T.
According to one source, Colon likely received word about his WWE Hall Of Fame induction in the last week or two.

Diamond Dallas Page Brings DDP YOGA to New Orleans for WWE Wrestlemania, will introduce Jake “The Snake” Roberts at WWE Hall of Fame ceremony
ATLANTA, Feb. 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — There will be plenty of action outside the ring this spring at WWE’s Wrestlemania- thanks to 3-time WCW Professional Wrestling Champion Diamond Dallas Page. Page will be bringing his revolutionary fitness system DDP YOGA to New Orleans April 4th and 5th, to coincide with the biggest weekend in wrestling.
Page will be hosting his intensive DDP YOGA workshops at the Holiday Inn New Orleans Westbank, where attendees will learn how they can tap into the power of dynamic resistance and take control of their health – and their lives.
As a former pro wrestling superstar, Page has reinvented himself as a maverick fitness guru, with the creation of his own workout system that combines dynamic resistance, flexibility, and cardio. Roberts will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame on April 5 and Page will introduce Roberts, who has become one of the most inspiring DDP YOGA success stories to date.
Over the past year, Page has revitalized Roberts’ health and rescued him from the throes of addiction, helping Roberts resurrect his career and reclaim his life through DDP YOGA. With intensive coaching and round-the-clock care, Roberts – who been living with Page – has maintained sobriety and is now in the best shape of his life.
Roberts has said that if he could regain his health through DDP YOGA, anyone can: the program empowers people at any fitness level to take charge of their health and take control of their lives through fitness. At the DDP YOGA workshops, Page will share the inspiring story behind DDP YOGA, the secret of dynamic resistance, active breathing techniques, correct alignment, and a special Q&A on Owning Your Life. There will also be a raffle drawing for DDP YOGA prizes.
The New Orleans workshops will take place Friday (April 4th) 5:00pm-8:00pm and Saturday (April 5th) 11:00am-2:00pm. Entry fee for each 3-hour session is $99.99 and both are open to all levels. 2014 WWE Hall of Fame Inductee Jake Roberts spoke to Bill Apter on Wednesday about undergoing a 5 1/2 hour surgery earlier this week to remove a cancerous tumor behind his left knee.
Jake said everything went well with the surgery, but also revealed that there are two more smaller growths on his legs as well. He’s thankful for the outpour of support and remains optimistic during this difficult time.
“Jake called me and wanted to make sure the right words got out there. Here is my audio interview with him regarding the surgery and what the doctor has told him thus far. Please share this. Due to the timely nature of the call there are no photos or production–just me doing the interview with Jake.”–Bill Apter 2/26/14

The following are highlights from another new Diamond Dallas Page interview:
On DDP Yoga: “There are 30 current WWE wrestlers doing DDP Yoga. Every single wrestler at the Performance Center does it, that’s 19 women and 61 guys doing DDP Yoga.”
On Jake Roberts’ cancer surgery: “He’s got to get the skin cancer removed from his leg. I asked how he could let it spread like this, it’ll be interesting to see what happens tomorrow because they said the surgery could be 2 hours, or it could be 8 hours.”
On a DDP Yoga App: “It’ll be like the Netflix of fitness. We will have our own programming and only through the APP will you be able to get live workouts. We’ll also do cooking and you might see me cooking with Jake or Scott in the accountability crib.”
On having one last match: “I have no intention to do it anywhere other than WWE. The only person I would consider wrestling would be Randy Orton and only because our storyline is built in. We could have a hell of a run but it would break my body up so bad. There is no reason for them to put him in an angle with me because he is too far up the ladder and I’m grateful for that because I’d take it if they offered it.”
On if he will induct Jake Roberts into the WWE Hall Of Fame: “It’s been talked about but everything runs through the WWE so I don’t know what decision they will make. I would be honoured to do it but it won’t hurt my feelings if they pick someone else because it’s Jake’s night.”

Did my DDP Yoga this morning and looking forward to all of my upcoming appearances with the fans. I will keep you posted but no need to worry about the Snake.”
