  • Ultimate Warrior & Jake Roberts Comment On Lita Joining The WWE Hall Of Fame

    – The Ultimate Warrior and Jake The Snake Roberts have commented on Amy “Lita” Dumas joining them in the WWE Hall of Fame’s Class of 2014. They tweeted this week:

  • Detailed Update On WWE’s Plans For This Year’s Hall Of Fame, Another Big Inductee

Regarding the inductees for the 2014 class of the WWE Hall Of Famer, as noted, Paul Bearer is considered a lock. Additionally, there is said to be a third star the caliber of Jake “The Snake” Roberts and Ultimate Warrior that will be going in this year as well.

There’s no definitive word right now as to whether or not WWE still plans on inducting the WrestleMania I main event match itself, as had been rumored in the past. The company is, however, said to be pushing for Mr. T, who was involved in the match, to accept the induction. Mr. T has turned down a WWE Hall Of Fame induction multiple times in the past.

Regarding the legendary Danny Hodge being inducted, the feeling is that if it doesn’t happen this year, it probably never will. Hodge was particularly a big star in New Orleans, where the Hall Of Fame ceremony will take place this year, in the 1960s.

Finally, another semi-big name that WWE is considering for this year’s Hall Of Fame class is Amy “Lita” Dumas.

  • WWE Hall Of Famer Speaks On Jake “The Snake” Roberts’ Sobriety

WWE Hall Of Famer “Cowboy” Bill Watts, who has had a rocky relationship in the past with the soon-to-be WWE Hall Of Famer Jake “The Snake” Roberts, recently spoke to Doug Mortman and Dave Lagreca on the Busted Open radio show about Roberts. Regarding Roberts’ sobriety, Watts stated the following:

“Well I certainly wish him well and I hope that this time it’s for real. I know he’s had these turnarounds and I think it’s been questionable if they been real. So I hope it is for his sake because at one time Jake was somebody you enjoyed to be around. As a matter of fact, we had set up for Jake a really good position with WCW. But then he went back and he slid back. And I’m just going to say this, that it’s a tough thing. It’s an extremely tough thing; substance abuse. My own family, I’ve had to deal with it. It’s the hardest thing in the world because you try to appeal to them logically but there is no logic. Because you’re talking to the substance. And it’s the most heartrending, horrible thing I’ve ever had to deal with. The Von Erich family for instance. The things that they went through as a family. I mean that entire tragedy. One of the hardest things was the fact that Jack never could get his hands around the understanding that his children; that his boys had become drug addicts. And that whole thing was just so–because those were good kids! They really were and then what happened to them. So we’ve seen the drugs and we’ve seen what’s going on with it. And I know why Ted DiBiase; I talked with one time. He was trying to relate to me how many guys that passed away and there’s been some substance abuse involved in wrestling in the last 20 years. And I’ve had a lot of friends that have lost their sons and that’s been the underlying factor. It’s just a scary, scary thing. But there’s a lot of things challenging the kids today that fortunately you know–I was glad that when I was in college, all we had was beer.”

    WWE RAW (2/3)

Reports of Fans getting kicked out and CM Punk signs being taken away. NO!
Reports of Fans getting kicked out and CM Punk signs being taken away. NO!

    CM Punk
CM Punk took his ball and went home. The longest reigning WWE champion in the Modern Era, seemingly quit WWE last week after a meeting with Vince McMahon. We are now in the age of the crowd hijack, so as expected chants rang out and signs for CM Punk were all over the place. rang A CM Punk sign was viable with in the first few seconds of the Raw preview. My biggest fear was that this was going to take away from Daniel Bryan, and It did. Omaha isn’t a big market to begin with, and I feel energy was wasted chanting CM Punk’s name. CM Punk may have left for “the right reasons” but I fear that now Daniel Bryan has to share the spotlight with the absence of CM Punk. Time will tell. NO!

    The Authority, Randy Orton
I’m sick of Randy Orton and The Authority segments. I’m sick of Randy Orton. I’m sick of Triple H, who comes out to a moderate pop because, of course he is a very big star, and when you have Randy Orton out there whining and complaining, anything is better than Randy Orton. Stephanie McMahon saying “I can’t believe I’m saying this, Daniel Bryan might be the new face of the WWE.”  Randy Orton will take on Daniel Bryan in a non-title match later tonight. As Triple H throws his hands in the air mimicking the yes chant. Michael Cole saying that he was leading the fans in the chant, nice try Cole. This segment could have been a 2 min promo backstage, it was a waste of time, and I was bored. NO!

Jerry The King Lawler with weaker content than BNB. NO!
Jerry The King Lawler with weaker content than BNB. NO!

Bad News Barrett & Jerry Lawler
Wade Barrett, with a useless generic heel post superbowl “you stuffed your faces” corny promo. Yelling and screaming. Out of no where Jerry Lawler is on a mic cutting off Wade Barrett with the weakest retort I’ve ever heard from Jerry, saying “I have some bad news, maybe you won’t be here next week.”  Crowd was just as confused as I was. That was it?  Terrible NO!

The Shield vs. Rey Mysterio, Big E. Langston & Kofi Kingston
Roman Reigns busted open the hard way in this match and required stitches after the fact. He will truely be a big star in the very near future, and it’s exciting to see him work. Dean Ambrose tagged Roman at the last moment to get a pinfall victory on Big E. Langston, after Roman did all the heavy lifting. This will further increase tension amongst The Shield, which is fine, but why does the Intercontinental champion have to take the fall? Can’t Kofi or Rey lay down? WWE continues to make their secondary champions look weak. However since Dean did get a pin-fall victory over Big E. perhaps this could set up a unification between the US and IC Championships, which needs to happen. After the Match The Wyatts cut a promo on the RawTron as the Shield looked on. YES!

Road Dogg should have caught Cody, but the match was a YES!
Road Dogg should have caught Cody, but the match was a YES!

WWE Tag-Team Titles: New Age Outlaws (c) vs. Goldust & Cody Rhodes (Steel Cage Match) I enjoyed the tag team re-mach in a steel cage. However why in a match that has no disqualification would there be a requirement to tag in an out? #WWELogic I suppose. Cody Rhodes climbed the cage to deliver a moonsault much like The Moonsault he did In Madison Square Garden. However he missed, and I dont’ think he was supposed to, I think Road Dogg botched this move by not getting out in front of him. Billy Gunn would have been there to deliever his finisher if Cody hit the move, and the result would have been the same. I was fully expecting a Golddust beat down in the cage, so kudos to WWE for not being predictable. YES!

  • Mick Foley To ‘Throw A Brick Through His TV’ If Daniel Bryan Doesn’t Win The Royal Rumble

WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley has posted a new blog on Facebook and gave his thoughts on tonight’s Royal Rumble pay-per-view. Foley says he’s hoping for a surprise appearance from Jake Roberts and purchased a ‘nice, new, red brick’ that he plans to throw at his television if Daniel Bryan doesn’t win the Rumble. Here’s what he wrote:

    WHO’S READY TO RUMBLE?

With the exception of Mania, this is the most wonderful day of the year for this wrestling fan. The Rumble match ALWAYS delivers – with plenty of drama, some humorous moments, and a couple of crowd-pleasing surprises each year. Like many of you, I’m hoping for an entry from Jake the Snake this year.

This year’s Rumble takes on an added dimension however. This year’s winner doesn’t get to choose his opponent, and become a participant in ONE of the main event matches at Wrestlemania; he becomes a participant in THE main event at Wrestlemania.

There is another added dimension to this year’s Rumble as well. In no other year that I can remember has there been such a groundswell of good-will towards one particular participant. I still have that brick – that nice, new, red brick – I purchased just for the Rumble (it’s right here beside me) and if DANIEL BRYAN doesn’t win this Rumble, I’m going to take that nice, new, red brick…and throw it through my television set.

I don’t expect you guys to take out your frustration on an innocent television set, but I do think there will be an AWFUL lot of AWFULLY disappointed WWE fans leaving the building tonight in Pittsburgh, and turning off their televisions around the world.

I like my TV. Here’s hoping that the nice, new, red brick I bought will never need to serve its purpose.

  • Jake Roberts Apologizes To The Ultimate Warrior

Jake Roberts has issued an apology to the Ultimate Warrior for some remarks he made about him during a recent interview. On the Busted Open radio show, Jake responded to The Ultimate Warrior entering the WWE Hall of Fame by saying:

“I know, man! I know that [their careers can’t be compared]. But maybe they’re taking in a**holes and not great talent. I don’t know.”

Warrior fired back on Twitter, calling Jake a hypocrite and saying he instills horror and pity in people:

Now, Jake has responded, apologizing to Warrior and saying he wants to put the whole situation behind him.

“My guys showed me Warrior’s tweets. I was trying to be entertaining with the radio show and took things too far, like I do too often. I have no business inferring anything negative about him. I apologize. He deserves the HOF and respect for what he accomplished in the business. But let me be clear. There is no hypocrisy here. I am not preaching anything. I am sharing my recovery path to show others what is possible. So no pity, bathrooms stalls or groveling. I am doing great. I am an addict and alcoholic working every single day to repair and make the best out of the life I have left. I make mistakes, like that comment, but my recovery has been amazing. Jim does not know this Jake. Without realizing or intending to, I fired the first shot and will take Jim’s response without any negativity towards him. I apologize and am putting behind me.”

Warrior didn’t take kindly to the remarks by Jake Roberts, tweeting the following on Monday Night

  • Jake Roberts Speaks On Ultimate Warrior’s HOF Induction, WMXXX, Old School RAW

The following are highlights from a Busted Open Satellite radio interview with WWE legend Jake “The Snake” Roberts:

On being proud of his Old School RAW return and dealing with sobriety: “Big time. Big time. You gotta deal with each moment; that’s part of sobriety. Is taking the hard stuff in the face and laying it out in front of you. And saying okay, here’s where I go from there. Before it was just an F that and got drunk, got high. And woke up three days later with more problems. That’s the funny thing about drugs and alcohol. There’s no problem that gets better when you get high. It will be back.”

On having to overcome changes in his life and heading in the right direction: “Yeah, man. Oh god brother, it’s–life is so wonderful, man. I mean it’s great to wake up in the morning and remember what you did the night before. It’s also great to wake up knowing that you have kids that love you and grandchildren that love you and they’re not ashamed of you anymore. And they don’t have to check in with you to make sure that you are in the visiting mode. Because there were a lot of days, man that I wouldn’t answer the phone. A lot of days that I didn’t want to talk to anybody. And a lot of days you didn’t want to see me. It was just a point for me where it got to; I took down all the mirrors in my house cause I didn’t want to look at my stupid ass. And what I became. But having said that; I’ve been to a lot of rehabs. Compliments of WWE. But I’ve also been to a few jails, but I never met anybody in a place who said you know what, Jake? When I was a kid, my dream was to grow up and become a drug addict or an alcoholic. Nobody dreams of that. Nobody wants that. But that’s the animal you invite into your house man, if you start doing the wrong thing. People often say, “Well Jake, why did you do drugs?” Cause I liked that stuff! I liked it! It was cool for a while. A short while. But at some point, it no longer became a choice to do that drug or drink. It was a necessity. And as soon as it became a necessity, it takes the life away from you and it owns your life. So guys and girls out there, don’t be a stupid snake and do that stuff. Because sooner or later, you’re gonna pay the piper. If you do the dance, somebody’s gonna pay the fiddler, okay? And that’s that. Okay, now let’s move on to happy shit.”

On if he ever thought he’d be walking down the aisle in WWE again: “No, god no. No, I’d already given up on that man. That was one of the hardest things about getting sober was looking at the carnage I’d created. And remembering some of these statements–oh my god! I must’ve been so F upped. But you know what a drug addict or an alcoholic can justify any sin. I can justify murder when I’m high. I can justify rape when I’m high. I can justify anything when I’m wanting my dope. And that’s the sickness. And some of the stuff I said about WWE and McMahon and anybody else up there, was just me lashing out because of my hate for myself. That’s not an excuse to do it. It shows me how big they are; not only to pay for rehab for an asshole that’s going out here and blasting the hell out of them, but they also–for them to open the door and say “Dude, come back.” And it’s like are you serious? Cause I had given up on that. I’d truly given up on them–I gave up on the Hall Of Fame, I gave up on everything. Like you know, what the hell man; Koko B. Ware’s there and I’m not? Are you serious? Geez. Warrior? Christ, man. That really hurts.”

On Ultimate Warrior’s Hall Of Fame induction and how he and Warrior’s careers can’t be compared: “I know, man! I know that. But maybe they’re taking in assholes and not great talent. I don’t know.”

On WrestleMania XXX being in New Orleans and wanting to get into the Hall Of Fame: “I know. If I was writing a book and I wanted a perfect ending; which I did write a book. About my life. It’ll be coming out about April 1st, man. Because of my career and life; it’s a trilogy. The first book is about the first 15-20 years of my life and career before I got to the WWE. And it’s the most interesting part, I think. And it’ll be coming out. There’s also a movie Diamond Dallas Page has been working on since I started this process; this resurrection if you will. It’ll be coming out soon. And I’ve got so many great things happening in my life right now that to be honest with you, I don’t know if I could fit that in! It’s fun to say no. Of course I wouldn’t say no (on being inducted to the HOF). Are you serious? I love wrestling, okay? I don’t love wrestlers cause there are a lot of them–just cause they have tights, don’t mean they’re wrestlers, okay? But there are a lot of assholes–they can take that stuff off, put it in a big pile and moving forward; their boots, burn it and never come back to wrestling. You’d be doing wrestling a favor. But no, I have a true passion for it. I’ve got a lot that I want to offer now. Will it ever happen on the level that I want it? I doubt it. Cause I’d certainly love to contribute to the product today. I would love to teach. I don’t know if there’s enough hours in the day to teach all the people I think I need to teach. But I would certainly try. I just love wrestling, man. Nobody understands it unless you’ve been there. I’m not talking about walking out and getting in the ring. I’m talking about being a guy that–wrestling is the only lover I never cheated on, okay? I screwed around on my wife but when it came to wrestling brother, I was there. If I was f’d up, I’d go to the ring and put in twice the time. If I was sick–to me, that’s the mark of a true professional. A true professional is somebody that at there physical and mental worst, they will go out and raise the bar and go above that bar. Because I felt guilty about if I got f’d up the night before oh man, you jerk! How dare you cheat these fans? And I’d go out and put in twice the time.”

On being deserving of a Hall Of Fame induction: “Well, whether you deserve it or not is not up to me man. And my life isn’t dependent upon that. If it doesn’t happen this year, maybe it’ll happen next year. I can only hope. I’m not going to let that take me down, man. Where as before, I could think of any reason to get high. ‘I didn’t get this; I didn’t get that; they screwed me over this; they screwed me over that.’ Yeah, yeah, yeah. I can fabricate any bullshit. But right now I’m just stating what’s the truth. The truth is I’m not in there and that’s okay. That’s okay. Look, I came back to Raw, brother! And I stole the f’ing show.”

On Diamond Dallas Page: “It’s real simple. That guy saved my life man. That guy is changing millions of people’s lives right now. If you don’t do his program, you’re an idiot. Bottom line. You’re a fricking idiot. And it’s fixed to get even grander and grander. Cause there’s more things in the works, and once they get sprung on the public man; it’s gonna blow your minds, man. I couldn’t be more proud to be associated with him. Not only because what he did for me but more so for what he’s done for all these other people. I mean it’s crazy the number of people he has effected. The number of people he has brought back to real life. The number of effected people who have dropped a 100 lbs; a 125 lbs; 200 lbs! We have a guy that’s dropped over 200 lbs and he’s still 400 lbs. And this guy is doing it! I don’t know how–he saves lives man. He is a constant; constantly on the move. Shaking and baking and meeting; talking. Everybody that buys his damn DVD; he calls them! Are you serious? This resurrection, this life is so good man. If you’re not happy with your life, it’s pretty simple: change it! Change it. If you’re not happy with your woman, toss her. If you’re not happy with your wife, divorce that and move on to the next one. It’s your choice. You can lay in that sh*t and live, if you want to call it that. That’s not living man; it’s existence. Or you can start making changes. I’ve dropped 75 lbs. I can get up and down. I can move now. I can wrestle again. When I retired two years ago, it left a big hole in my heart! I’m 58 years old and I’m in the best shape of the last 25-30 years. I’m so pissed off at myself. Why didn’t I do this sooner? Why didn’t I do this sooner? Because the program is not that hard. It is not hard. I’ll tell ya it is not hard to do. Anybody can do it. There’s adjustments you can make and modifications you can make in this program. There’s no–in a fricking wheelchair you can do this! So what’s your excuse? If Jake Roberts can be clean and sober, lose 75 lbs, return to wrestling and be victorious in his resurrection; what the F is your excuse? That’s all I got to say.”

On where he ranks the Old School RAW moment in his career: “I don’t know man cause it hasn’t really sunk in. I still keep waking up thinking, okay it didn’t really happen. Okay, that did not happen. I don’t know man. It was so surreal. It just hasn’t sunk in. It hasn’t sunk in. All this grandiosity and all that stuff man, it has not got into my bones yet. Because I denied it for so long. You understand? I said it wasn’t going to happen for so long even though it has happened, I don’t believe it. And maybe that’s a good thing. Maybe I’ll keep striving in the right direction. Having said that; they can’t take it away from me, so f— them! (Laughing)”

  • DDP Interview: Ultimate Warrior In The WWE Hall Of Fame Before Jake Roberts & Randy Savage

Wrestling legend Diamond Dallas Page joined Doug Mortman and Dave Lagreca on this week’s Busted Open radio show, which you can hear on satellite radio on SiriusXM Channel 92. Here are some highlights of what he said about:

If The Ultimate Warrior is a Hall of Famer: “Are you kidding me? Abso-f**king-lutely. I mean you have to look at how guys drew. And there are fans that don’t like the Warrior. There are plenty of fans that don’t like Diamond Dallas Page. I get that. And the people who don’t like him, really don’t like him. But the people who love the Warrior; they f**king love the Warrior. And that was really obvious when we did in New Jersey, New York, Philadelphia–they can be the most critical fans on the planet. Me and Jake Roberts we smoked through autographs while we were there for those couple of days, but Warrior and Hogan came in and were doing the 100 to 150 dollar autograph thing and that line went out the door all day long. So you say what you want about Warrior, but the cat is true. He brought his energy. He brought a dynamic to wrestling at that time that was original. And I wasn’t a big fan of his interviews but people fricking loved them! People loved that guy. I was a Jake Roberts guy back in the ‘80’s, so I skate more that way.”

His thoughts on Warrior going in before Jake Roberts & Randy Savage: “Well I think in Randy’s case, I think Randy he was pissed. I don’t think he really wanted to go in. That’s just my observation from a far. I never heard that from Randy but I’m sure now that the great Randy Savage has passed on, at some point he will be put in there. But I think there was–you have to accept. You have to go there and show up. And there was some heat there. And I think it was just about to get fixed too, just like the Warrior had a lot of heat there. I think he absolutely would’ve gone in. Maybe this year cause Randy was just coming out–when he died, Randy was just starting to come out. About to do a comic-con and stuff; do some autograph signings and stuff. So I think you would have seen him in there. Right after; not too long after his death, I don’t think it had to happen right away but I would imagine that Randy will be in there. And I believe that Jake Roberts will get in. I think I’ll get in. I think there will be a lot of guys that will get in there from Kevin Nash, Scott Hall. I think a lot of those guys will get in. Sometimes it just takes time and I think that Jake doing his turn around that he’s done over these last 16-17 months–or 16 months I think it is–people are buzzing everywhere about Jake. So I think at some point, it would be awesome if it was this year but who knows? You never know.”

His thoughts on his involvement with helping Jake Roberts change: “Well you know Jake put all the work in. Jake was at my house today cause he doesn’t know if he’s going to get that call for Rumble. But you know what if he gets it; he’s gonna be ready. If he doesn’t get it, he’ll still be ready. And Jake worked his skin off–he had the flu bad too the last four days. And he came to work out today and I’m like Jake you can come tomorrow and he’s like nope, let’s go. We did about an hour; Jake lasted about 46 minutes. I was proud of him that he fought through it and he’s really done an amazing turn around. And he’s had some serious adversities. When people get a chance to see what we have; the footage that we have for The Resurrection of Jake The Snake. I’ve been doing this documentary for close to 15 or 16 months now. You know that right? We’ve been documenting everything. We put pieces up on DDP TV, if anybody wants to see the trailer that we have for The Resurrection of Jake The Snake. We did that the first three months. We’re about to open up with another one of Jake’s that is coming up right around in the next couple of weeks. And it will really–it’ll give you goosebumps. And there is so much–my guys; I got five guys working. I’m a production company more than anything now. DDP yoga is the center piece but everything is happening around from Scott Hall to Cody Hall, who was rookie of the year according to (Dave) Meltzer’s sheet. I didn’t see that but that’s legitimate as it gets. But Cody got out there because of DDP TV and what we put out there with him and Scott and everything. It’s just been awesome. I got my editors; I’ve got five of them. And there’s two guys that are new and they’re going through our footage like oh my god I can’t believe you have this. This is going to be a completely different movie than Beyond The Mat. This is about the resurrection of a legend.”

Doing DDP Yoga on WWE TV: “Well I got to say first of all; no one and I repeat no one puts anything on Vince McMahon’s TV without his okay. And I’ve had people say to me so what do you think about Vince McMahon trying to ruin your career with the whole stalker thing, blah, blah, blah. Over the years, right? Anything that anyone thought cause I made a lot of those decisions myself and they were stupid decisions by me. Anyone who ever thinks that there has ever been anything between Vince and me or whatever and I’ve always told everyone; no, there’s not. What Vince did for me two Monday’s ago with DDP Yoga was–he couldn’t have given me a better angle. He couldn’t have given me a better spot. He let me go on there for a minute and a half. It was written into the copy! They gave it to me. I didn’t pick up the DVD’s and do that. That was written for me. “Wear your shirt.” Hunter told me do the foot over the head, that always blows people away. You know I was like okay! I expected to be in something but I didn’t expect it to be what it was. And to have Booker T involved too, who is one of my good buddies. Cause he’s the one guy from WCW who really got over. He’s a five time World Champion and he got the strap there. So bottom line is to be able to do it with him and then have Ron (Simmons) come out; it was just–we did so many takes of it, every one was funnier than the next. I had liked the last one the best but there were other ones that were laugh your ass off funny. And we just had a blast. And Ron said (DDP imitating his voice), “Man, Diamond they’re really working you today. This one’s gonna be a shameless plug but you working for that s**t today…DAMN.”

  • Jake Roberts Speaks On Old School RAW, Being Hidden Backstage, CM Punk

The following are highlights from a new WWE.com interview with Jake “The Snake” Roberts:

On how his return at Old School RAW came about: “I got a call from [Diamond] Dallas [Page] on Saturday afternoon saying, “Dude, are you sitting down? Are you alone?” He told me WWE wanted to talk with me about an opportunity. At that point, I went completely blank. I couldn’t think, I couldn’t make sense of what was inside my head. It has been such a journey for me. They told me they were going to play it really old school by keeping it a secret from everybody, which was pretty cool. It brought back a lot of memories.”

On being hidden backstage at Old School RAW in Baltimore: “They said I was going to fly into a different airport so nobody saw me. I flew into Washington instead of Baltimore. They picked me up there and told me to call when I was 10 minutes away from the building so they could smuggle me in. I went to one of the busses and I stayed on there until about 10 minutes before the whole thing. I had no idea what we were going to do. At about five o’clock, after I had been there for about four or five hours, I was told what was going on. I was told to chill out and they’d bring me food and to call a number if I needed anything. It was a good, because it gave me time to reflect about where I’d been and what got me there.”

On his new level of respect for CM Punk: “I appreciate CM Punk so much more now than I ever have. He kneeled down over at the side, got completely out of the picture and allowed me to have that moment. It was incredible. It shows people what a true professional he is. He really raised himself up on my list of people that I respect. He didn’t have to do that. I’m the old fart who screwed up what I had. To be allowed to come back to WWE is the greatest gift that’s ever been given to me. Back in the day, I never appreciated what WWE had given me, because I was in too much disarray and too confused about my own life. I let opportunities foolishly slip through my hands. To be given this opportunity to come back and grab a small piece of what was, that’s very special.”
