Update On Jeff Hardy’s Status With TNA Wrestling

Little has been said regarding Jeff Hardy’s status with TNA Wrestling since his return to the promotion during the first live Monday edition of iMPACT! on Jan. 4. TNA did not bother to mention him on subsequent television broadcasts not to mention that the company website has yet to add a bio on him to its roster page.

In an update on the matter, it would appear that Hardy’s appearance three weeks ago on iMPACT! was not a one-time deal and that he will be making further appearances for the promotion in the near future.

Apparently revealing the name of his partnership with Shannon Moore, Hardy tweeted the following on Monday:

“HeavensDemons…airhedge&itchweeed ready to hitTNA with some shockfactor..you dig thy name…HeavensDemons?”

For those unaware, Hardy refers to himself as “itchweed” and Moore as “airhedge.”

The tweet has since been deleted, but it be should be noted that it is legit as Max of Generation Y retweeted his post, calling it a “great name.”

There are conflicting reports asn to Jeff Hardy’s status with TNA Wrestling.

Hardy made his return to TNA back on the live January 4th Monday night show but has not been featured prominently on television in recent weeks.

Sources within TNA are saying that Hardy has signed a contract, while friends of Hardy have said he’s told them he’s working without a deal.

The fact Hardy hasn’t appeared with TNA since January 4th could indicate that he hasn’t signed or committed to any dates.

In related Jeff Hardy news, he was said to be upset at the recent segments on WWE’s SmackDown where CM Punk used his name in promos to get himself over when Hardy was Hardy is not even in WWE anymore to defend himself.

Despite Hardy’s legal problems and his appearances for TNA, WWE still wants him back down the road.

McMahon’s Reaction To Hardy In TNA, Former Diva Backstage

— While Vince McMahon was no-selling Jeff Hardy appearing on TNA’s three-hour iMPACT! broadcast last week backstage, it’s been said that he was “privately seething” over the former WWE Champion’s decision to jump ship to the competition. As noted earlier, WWE promptly removed Hardy from its opening video montage. WWE officials were hoping his legal issues would be settled in time for a match with CM Punk at WrestleMania, but with those plans now out the window, they’ll likely go with Punk vs. Rey Mysterio in a Hair vs. Mask Match.

— WWE has released the trailer for its Best of Raw 2009 DVD, which hits stores two weeks from now. The video segment highlights Raw’s most notable moments from the past year — many of which courtesy of DX. You can view the trailer at the following link.

— Former WWE Women’s Champion Molly Holly was backstage visiting friends last night at the Target Center. The former WWE Diva lives in Minnesota and typically visits friends when WWE tours the area.

— The new media blurb NBC put out regarding the upcoming season of Celebrity Apprentice makes zero mention of Maria Kanellis and Bill Goldberg.

Detailed Breakdown Of TNA’s Viewership: Who Drew?

Hulk Hogan

Hulk Hogan

Big props to PWTorch.com for getting a hold of the minute-by-minute ratings data:

In a news bit that should surprise no one, a minute-by-minute breakdown of Monday’s TNA iMPACT! rating reveals that the first Hulk Hogan segment contained the most-watched portion of the show.

After opening with a whopping 3.05 million viewers for Hulk Hogan’s walk to the ring, Hogan’s first live segment peaked with 3.36 million viewers at 9PM. This figure then gradually (and steadily) declined as people began tuning out, presumably to view the Bret Hart-Shawn Michaels encounter on WWE RAW.

What is interesting, however, is that the next biggest attraction was neither Jeff Hardy, Ric Flair nor any of the active male TNA performers. Rather, it was The Beautiful People’s strip poker game. While TNA’s Knockouts have often drawn well in comparison to the other action, it is surprising that they maintained their dominant level of appeal on such a star-studded show.

The first instance of the poker game drew between 3.00 and 3.01 million viewers; a segment that also featured Sean Morley drew 2.9 million viewers just after 9:30PM. Aside from a portion of Hulk Hogan’s appearance, the Beautiful People were far and away the biggest draw of hour two.

Jeff Hardy Rumor Killer, Panic At iMPACT!, Bob Carter

— Jeff Hardy’s girlfriend Beth wrote the following on her Twitter regarding recent reports on Jeff: “I have no idea where these reports are coming from saying Jeff “had a verbal agreement to return to WWE by a certain date.”That’s 100% false”

– Alex Shelley was checked out yesterday for a possible herniated disc. No word yet how that went but we hope to have details soon.

– Bob Carter, owner of Panda Energy and father to Dixie Carter, was sitting ringside beside his daughter at Monday’s live iMPACT

– There was panic backstage on Monday when Homicide was unable to get out of the top of the Steel Cage Asylum structure. Apparently there was concern before the show about whether or not he could escape the cage but Homicide assured everyone he would be able to. As noted yesterday, Homicide was hanging from the cage for 72 seconds.

TNA & Spike TV’s Reaction To Monday’s Ratings

Monday Night iMPACT!

Monday Night iMPACT!

TNA officials and Spike TV executives were thrilled with the iMPACT rating numbers that came in yesterday. As previously reported, iMPACT! drew a 1.5 overall rating (2.2 million viewers) with the show peaking at a 1.9 ratingng (2.5 million viewers) for start of hour 2, featuring the debut of Hulk Hogan.

TNA President Dixie Carter wrote the following on her Twitter yesterday:

“Thank you, thank you for helping TNA set RECORD ratings in every way last night. We ALL won.”

There is now serious discussion within TNA of putting on a weekly Monday night show head-to-head with WWE’s RAW. The most likely scenario we’ve heard would be TNA iMPACT! running from 8-10pm ET, only going head-to-head with RAW for 1 hour.

– In an update from last night’s TNA iMPACT spoilers, Hulk Hogan did in fact appear in a backstage segment. Jeff Hardy was not at last night’s iMPACT tapings.

Jeff Hardy Indicted – Drug Case Sent To Superior Court

Jeff Hardy

Jeff Hardy

After making his shocking return to TNA Wrestling at Monday night’s live 3-hour iMPACT! special, Jeff Hardy has been dealt yet another legal setback.

Jeff Hardy’s drug charges went to the grand jury yesterday in Moore County, North Carolina. A grand jury found that there is enough evidence to indict Hardy and the case has been sent to Superior Court, according to a spokesperson with the Moore County Court. The case will be officially set on their docket within the next week, according to PWInsider.com.

Hardy was arrested on September 11th, 2009 after police raided his home in Cameron, North Carolina. A joint investigation conducted by officers with the Moore County Sheriff’s Office narcotics and select enforcement units and the Fayetteville Police Department led to the search. According to the police report, a search of his residence yielded 262 Vicodin prescription pills, 180 Soma prescription pills, 555 milliliters of anabolic steroids, a residual amount of powder cocaine and items of drug paraphernalia. He was charged with felony trafficking in opium, two counts of felony possession with intent to sell or deliver a Schedule III controlled substance, felony maintaining a dwelling to keep controlled substance, felony possession of cocaine and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Jeff was set for a probable cause hearing later this month to determine wehther there was enough evidence to send the case to Superior Court, but it appears prosecutors opted to forgo that hearing and go right to the grand jury in order to move the case along.

Full Details On Jeff Hardy Signing With TNA Wrestling

TNA star Jeff Hardy

TNA star Jeff Hardy

After a shocking appearance by Jeff Hardy at Monday’s TNA iMPACT! tapings, SEScoops.com can confirm that the former WWE Champion has signed a contract with TNA Wrestling. Here are some of the key details to this story:

– Jeff Hardy is now a full-time member of the TNA roster and will be working a regular television and PPV schedule.

– The main reason Jeff Hardy jumped to TNA is the work schedule and  is at the point where he doesn’t want to deal with the grueling WWE travel schedule.  In TNA, he can still remain a top star in the industry and make great money while working and traveling far less.

– On iMPACT!, we saw Jeff Hardy attack X-Division star Homicide. A feud between the two appears to be in the works. “Anything could change and I could do something else or Jeff could do something else at the TV tapings on Tuesday, and I think it would be a great match-up of Jeff Hardy vs. Homicide. I’m really hoping it will happen,” Homicide said on the “Right After Wrestling” radio program on SIRIUS channel 98.

– Jeff Hardy was in meetings with Hulk Hogan and Dixie Carter throughout the day on Monday ironing out the terms of his agreement. Its believed that nothing was locked up until Jeff’s visit to Orlando on Monday.

UPDATES:

– On Tuesday, Jeff Hardy was indicted on the drug charges against him and his case will be moving on to Superior Court. READ MORE

– Jeff Hardy’s girlfriend Beth posted a message on Twitter responding to rumors that Jeff he signed with TNA after having a verbal agreement to return to WWE:

JR Blog: Hardy & Flair In TNA, Bret’s Return, Angle-Styles

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross

Jim Ross is back with another blog at JRsBarBQ.com with thoughts on last night’s RAW and iMPACT. Here are some highlights:

Bret Hart & HBK: “The dialog between HBK and the Hitman sounded so natural that I thought I was eavesdropping on two old rivals’ conversation. They were simply being themselves. Their handshake made the night complete for me but remember that I lived through the debacle of ’97 and was just a little immersed in it and spent many, many hours “talking wrestlers off the ledge” so to speak for hours after the controversial incident.”

Bret Hart & Vince McMahon: “The McMahon-Bret confrontation was well done especially planting the seed early and keeping me hooked until the end of the show for the payoff plus adding some spice to the dish in between. The Mr. McMahon persona is so easy to dislike and the Chairman got the last word and the final act of physicality in the exchange with his longstanding adversary and left me wanting to see more and wondering how Bret will respond next Monday night? Or will he? This issue has new, fresh legs.”

Jeff Hardy in TNA: “It surprised me to see Jeff Hardy on Spike TV Monday night which I am sure will get some fans talking and critics/pundits asking a great deal of questions. I’m a Jeff Hardy fan and I wish him well. Jeff had a great tenure in WWE and considering that I signed him and his brother Matt to their first WWE contracts I will always consider the Hardy brothers as being special. As Hall of Fame Coach Barry Switzer once told me, “Once you recruit a player you recruit them for life.”

Ric Flair in TNA: “Knowing how much Ric Flair still enjoys wrestling I was not shocked to see Ric on another channel Monday night. The WWE gave Ric the greatest send-off/retirement presentation that I have ever witnessed but nonetheless “Naitch” has wrestling running through his veins and he’s going lace ’em up until he simply can’t do it any longer. Ric Flair has been my friend for about 30 years and I wish him well in what ever he does in his career.”

AJ Styles vs. Kurt Angle: “Former WWE Champion Kurt Angle, another one of the guys that I signed to their first WWE contract, and A.J. Styles had a truly excellent wrestling match that I got glimpses of Monday night.”

January 4th MONDAY NIGHT WAR Feedback

January 4th proved to be an eventful night. TNA Wrestling had a good showing on its first live Monday night show, with Hulk Hogan, Jeff Hardy, Ric Flair, Eric Bischoff, Mick Foley, Jeff Jarrett and many other familar faces laying the groundwork for the “new” TNA. On RAW, we had the surreal return of Bret Hart – who made peace with Shawn Michaels and Vince McMahon, only to have the WWE chairman leave him laying after a nasty kick to the stomach.

Jeff Hardy Says He’ll Be At TNA iMPACT! Monday Night

Monday Night iMPACT!

Monday Night iMPACT!

Former WWE superstar Jeff Hardy wrote on Twitter that he, his girlfriend and Shannon Moore will be driving to Orlando, Florida on Monday to attend the live 3-hour TNA iMPACT!

Jeff Hardy wrote:

“Gonna roll with my boy @TheShannonBrand to FLA to put in a good word & check out tha show.”

TNA President Dixie Carter commented on the news of Jeff Hardy attending iMPACT. She wrote,

“Heard Jeff Hardy is going to crash the party tomorrow. Everyone is welcome!!! Gonna be fun.”

There is no word yet on whether Jeff Hardy will appear on television, but he is a free agent and might be open to a few appearances if the money is right. Jeff Hardy is arguably one of the most popular stars in the industry and him appearing on  iMPACT! head-to-head with RAW would make a lot of noise and bring viewers to TNA.

WWE Hoping For Jeff Hardy vs. CM Punk at WrestleMania

Jeff Hardy

Jeff Hardy

While there are a few pieces that still have to fall in place for this to happen, there is talk within WWE that Jeff Hardy will be brought back in time to wrestle C.M. Punk at WrestleMania 26.

At the time of his departure from WWE over the summer, the general feeling within WWE was that Hardy would be back in a few months. Just weeks after he left the company, police raided Hardy’s Cameron, North Carolina home and found a staggering quantity of prescription pills, among other substances. He was arrested and charged with multiple felonies. From the police report:

Jeffrey Nero Hardy was arrested on September 11, 2009 and charged with felony trafficking in opium, two counts of felony possession with intent to sell or deliver a Schedule III controlled substance, felony maintaining a dwelling to keep controlled substance, felony possession of cocaine, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

At this point, the biggest obstacle between Jeff Hardy and a WWE return are the charges he’s facing. He is due back in court on January 27th for a probable cause hearing to determine whether there is enough evidence for his case to proceed to a grand jury. The grand jury would then decide whether to prosecute Hardy for the various felonies she’s been charged with.

With Linda McMahon’s United States Senate campaign a strong factor in what happens in WWE (ie. WWE toning down their product to TV-PG, family-friendly programming),  the feeling is that WWE would not want to bring him back until Hardy’s legal woes gets put to bed.

Jeff Hardy Legal Update From Today’s Court Hearing

Source: PWInsider.com

Former WWE superstar Jeff Hardy was set to appear in court this morning for a probable cause hearing to determine whether there is enough evidence stemming from his September 11th drug arrest to see if the case would proceed to a grand jury. The grand jury would then decide whether to prosecute Hardy for the various felonies she’s been charged with.

The hearing has been rescheduled once again and the next court appearance for Hardy will be on January 27, 2010.

The original probable cause hearing on November 4th was rescheduled to today because certain drug test results had not been completed in time. No word yet on why today’s hearing did not take place.

Jeff Hardy In Seclusion & Not Talking to Anybody

Source: FayObserver.com

Gilbert Hardy, father of Matt and Jeff, spoke to the Fayetteville Observer newspaper last week and said Jeff has been keeping a very low profile in the weeks and months since his September 11th drug arrest. “He won’t talk. He ain’t talking to nobody,” the senior Hardy said. “He doesn’t even want to talk to me.”

The newspaper tried getting a quote from Jeff, but he refused to speak to them.

Hardy was due in court last week for a probable cause hearing to determine whether there is enough evidence to warrant indicting the former WWE champion on the various drug charges (including six felonies) he’s facing. The hearing was rescheduled for December 2nd.

If convicted of the opium trafficking charge alone, Hardy faces nearly six years in prison, at a minimum, said Warren McSweeney, a Moore County prosecutor. “It could be substantially more,” he added.

Greg Price, who runs the NWA Legends Fanfest each August in Charlotte, said he doesn’t believe Hardy’s career will be jeopardized even if he’s found guilty of drug charges. “The worst-case scenario – jail time,” Price said. “Honestly, in the wrestling business, all that would do is delay his career. No wrestling promoter out there today is not going to use him because of that. I think again, that comes back to society and prescription pill use. A lot of people don’t look at that as being illegal.”

JR Blog: Jeff Hardy, Declining PPV Buyrates, WWE TV Channel

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has posted another blog update with his thoughts on the sharp decline in Pay-Per-View buyrates revealed in yesterday’s 3rd Quarter 2009 financial results (more on that), whether Edge will be healthy in time for WrestleMania in March and an update on Jeff Hardy’s legal woes. Some highlights:

WWE’s Declining PPV Buyrates: “PPV’s coming at us fans with such frequency is challenging to. process, prioritize and to afford. However, with the PPV business being such a vital part of any wrestling organization’s bottom line, I would be surprised to see the number of PPV’s decrease. So, it will come back to providing the consumer with what they are willing to and can purchase which will always be attraction driven fueled by button pushing creative which is no exact science.”

Jeff Hardy’s Legal Situation: I see the continuance of the Jeff Hardy legal issue as positive news for Jeff. I’m not an attorney nor do I play one on TV but one can make an argument that if the authorities thought that they had an overwhelmingly strong case that they would not be interested in postponing the proceedings. I strongly feel that Jeff Hardy is NOT a drug trafficker whatsoever and that he will be vindicated. I am also not unbiased in this matter as I am a Jeff Hardy fan and have been since signing Matt and Jeff to their first WWE contracts.

A WWE Cable TV Channel: “WWE TV Network…to me it seems as this is a logical progression for WWE in the future. If I had to place a bet, I would bet that WWE having their own TV channel on cable and satellite would happen sometime Sooner than later. I don’t know when this channel would launch but I do know that WWE has plenty of programming to help start a network. Plus new, non live event programming can be facilitated much like ESPN has done with their, seemingly, zillion hours of original programming that they produce for their multiple platforms.

As always, there’s plenty more to the blog, which you can read at JRsBArBQ.com in its entirety.

Jeff Hardy Skips Court Date, WWE-THQ Deal Renewed

– Jeff Hardy did not show up for a scheduled court hearing on Wednesdayf or a probable cause hearing stemming from his September 11th arrest on multiple drug charges. The Fayetteville Observer reports that Hardy’s lawyer Jeff Van Camp told them that Hardy originally intended to attend the hearing, but decided not to show up because some of the drug test lab results had not come in yet.  As a result, the next hearing is has been set for December 2nd.

For more on Jeff Hardy’s legal situation and the multiple felonies he’s facing, click here.

— Last week, video game publisher THQ announced in a press release was set to expire at the end of the year and that WWE had given them until December 31st to decide whether to renew their licensing deal. During THQ’s quarterly conference call on Wednesday night, THQ CEO Brian Farrell announced that THQ and WWE have agreed to extend their partnership through 2014. Included in the five-year deal will be the continuation of the “SmackDown vs. Raw” franchise, new WWE games specifically targeting Asian markets and more focus ononline play.

Jeff Hardy In Court Today Over Multiple Felony Drug Charges

Jeff Hardy is scheduled to be at the Moore County Criminal District Court in Carthage, North Carolina today for a probable cause hearing stemming from his September 11th arrest on multiple drug charges. The charges include:

  • Felony possession of cocaine.
  • Felony drug trafficking of opium
  • Two counts of felony possession with intent to redistribute a Schedule III drug
  • Maintaining a dwelling for drug use and/or distribution (also a felony)
  • Misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia

If it is determined that a crime was committed and Jeff Hardy is probably the party who committed the crime, the cases move on to a Grand Jury. Upon review of the facts and evidence, the Grand Jury can criminally indict Hardy.  If Jeff Hardy gets indicted, the cases are transferred to Superior Court.

We’ll have more on this story later today.

Future Raw Guest Host Revealed, Jeff Hardy & Dixie On Twitter

— The UK Sun is reporting that boxer Ricky Hatton will be guest hosting WWE Raw on 11/9 from the UK’s Sheffield Arena. Hatton will be the second boxer to host Raw after his recent opponent Floyd Mayweather Jr appeared held the job back in August.

— TNA president Dixie Carter has joined Twitter at Twitter.com/TNADixie. Her first post detailed an eventful day at TNA headquarters. “Celebrated the Hogan signing at staff meeting this morning with champagne and donuts” Carter called it “a new beginning for TNA!”

— Speaking of Twitter, former WWE superstar Jeff Hardy’s Twitter page is now back online at Twitter.com/jeffhardybrand. He has not added any posts yet. The page was taken down shortly after his drug arrest on September 11th.

Matt Hardy Says Jeff Is The Victim Of A Corrupt Scam

This morning, Matt Hardy posted several items on his Twitter account regarding his brother Jeff’s future. Matt wrote:

“A year or so from now, Jeff will be a bigger star and celebrity than he’s ever been-we locked him into a major project this week.”

“Nothing is gonna happen to Jeff, he’s a victim of a corrupt scam-the truth is coming out, and will come out in it’s entirety in the future.”

Interestingly enough, the comments have already been removed.

While this news does seem pretty juicy, let’s wait and see if anything materializes. Knowing Matt, he’ll follow up with an “AHA!” post how we’re all idiots for thinking he was talking about Jeff HARDY, when he was actually talking about his neighbor Jeff Jones, who was wrongfully accused of painting his house the wrong color.

Jeff Hardy was arrested back on September 11th after a search of his Cameron, N.C. residence yielded 262 Vicodin prescription pills, 180 Soma prescription pills, 555 milliliters of anabolic steroids, a residual amount of powder cocaine and items of drug paraphernalia. He was charged with felony trafficking in opium, two counts of felony possession with intent to sell or deliver a Schedule III controlled substance, felony maintaining a dwelling to keep controlled substance, felony possession of cocaine and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Steve Austin Talks In-Depth About Jeff Hardy’s Issues

During an interview with the UK Sun this week to promote his new movie Damage, WWE Hall of Famer Steve Austin says he’s spoken to former WWE superstar Jeff Hardy about his ongoing issues, but you can only do so much to help another person.

“I called him a while back and talked to him,” he said. “He’s a good looking kid, he’s got a really unique style, people love him, he has his own kind of charisma. I wish he could put it all together and get his personal demons behind him. He got caught with a lot of stuff and we’ll see what happens.”

Austin said he’s reached out to other WWE superstars when he they were having issues with drug addiction.

“I’ve called a few guys when I hear some of them getting into problems,” he said. “I try to give my two cents to the situation. They’ll all swear that everything is cool, it turns out things aren’t cool. [Vince McMahon] has offered to pay for rehab for anybody who wants it. Some people have taken him up on it, some people haven’t. I get made when people point the finger at Vince and say it’s his fault. It’s not his fault. He’s a third generation promoter who runs a wrestling company. I take responsibility for all my actions. I think everybody should. I refuse to think that it’s Vince McMahon’s fault for any of this.”

He said Jeff Hardy has a unique situation for WWE. One hand hand, he’s one of the most charismatic and popular superstars on the roster, but there’s such a risk of him screwing up that they’ve never been able to fully get behind him.

“Man. This last thing I just heard about the other day when I was driving back from Texas to L.A.,” he said. “They never gave that guy a full green light push, but you can’t keep him down. All the calamity and trouble he gets into, but people love him. If they ever fully gave him a green light push, who knows what would happen? But you can’t do that because you don’t know what he’s going to do because all of a sudden you have all of this time and money invested and then he screws up. So who knows what’s going to come out of it, if he’s going to do time or whatever. He has some serious stuff going against him.”
