Update On Investigation Into The Death Of Brian Christopher

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is continuing to look into the death of Brian Christopher.

Christopher is reported to have committed suicide while alone in a single cell in the Bolivar jail this summer. He was being held following a DUI charge the month prior. The Lawler family doubts the official cause of Christopher’s death. Jerry Lawler says he is at the point now where the family might start issuing subpoenas to help get answers. He spoke to Local Memphis recently in regards to the ongoing investigation.

“In the words of my attorney, there’s so much smoke that has come out of that Bolivar jail that there’s got to be a fire somewhere,” Lawler said. “If we can help unearth that, then maybe things will change, and it’ll be better for some people down the line,” said Lawler.

Lawler previously expressed his doubts that his son killed himself this summer as well.

“It just doesn’t pass the smell test,” Lawler said to Local Memphis in August. “We’ve received literally countless calls, text messages from people, actual eyewitnesses, that were in the jail and saw things that happened on the actual day that Brian died that now has opened up a new can of worms,” he continued. “It just doesn’t seem like it was suicide.”

Jerry Lawler Says He Received Hate Mail For Attending Trump Rally

WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler was an attendee at a Trump rally held in Mississippi this week.

He was seen wearing a Donald Trump t-shirt sitting right behind Trump in the front-row at the Landers Center.

In the rally, President Trump mocked Christine Blasey Ford’s Senate Judiciary Committee testimony where she alleged that Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her.

Jerry Lawler told TMZ that he got backlash from fans on social media and got hate mail for attending the rally.

“We were asked by some people to go to the rally, and I went and unbelievably received from some social media some actual hate mail just for going to the rally of Donald Trump.”

He clarified that he wasn’t there to support Trump, he just went there to “see a fellow WWE Hall of Famer.”

Lawler was also asked if he thinks Trump would return to the ring once his presidency is over. Lawler said he wouldn’t doubt it as Trump “did pretty good the first time.”

Jerry Lawler: WWE Is Politically Correct To A Fault

WWE Hall Of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler thinks political correctness and the Women’s Evolution are the reasons he is no longer featured on WWE television. Lawler was present for the recent Starrcast convention during All In weekend and filmed a live episode of his Dinner with the King podcast for the fans who were in attendance.

During the course of the show, the topic of puppies was brought up. Of course, we’re not talking about young canines here. Longtime fans know that Lawler would use the term to describe women’s cleavage during the Attitude Era. This was back when WWE programming was much more adult-themed than today and long before the Women’s Evolution

“They’re So Politically Correct To A Fault.”

During the Attitude Era, Lawler was one of the most prominent voices on WWE television. That was a very different time and the King believes that association is why he’s no longer calling Raw or SmackDown.

“The thing with the puppies, I did not coin the phrase. I was not the first one to say the phrase on WWE TV; but, because, like you said, I am so associated with that word ‘puppies,’ most people think that way,” Lawler explained.

“That is probably the reason I’m not on TV anymore and I mean that seriously because they [WWE] went so politically correct. It’s not necessarily PG because they’re not PG. They’re further south than PG. They’re PC,” he said. “They’re so politically correct to a fault and especially like they got so right now into – starting with the Revolution – now it’s all about empowering women and that’s a big political correct thing these days and everything, so WWE jumped right on that, so it’s about empowering women.”

Lawler revealed that WWE producers actually instructed the commentators to never call the women wrestlers beautiful, good looking or sexy.

“You must treat them exactly like you would a male athlete,” Lawler recalled being instructed. “You could say that they are powerful, they’re strong, they’re athletic,’ all this stuff; but, nothing that would be considered sexist at all.”

Lawler Saying ‘Puppies’ At RAW’s 25th Anniversary

He would later reflect on sneaking the word into the RAW 25th Anniversary show, and McMahon’s immediate reaction to it:

“This is like early on the show and I said, ‘JR [Jim Ross], it’s so nice to be here tonight and we’re gonna go back in time or something and I might even say puppies tonight.’ Immediately I hear [Vince McMahon] in my earphone (grunts), ‘Let’s stay away from that tonight.’ That was the last time it was ever said on there.”

Terry Funk Withdraws From Starccast For Health Reasons

One of the most legendary wrestlers of all-time will not be at Starccast this weekend. Terry Funk has been forced to withdraw from his planned “Empty Arena Match Retrospective” along with Jerry Lawler.

Starrcast announced the change recently on Twitter:

The 74-year-old has been dealing with diverticulitis and an abdominal hernia this summer. It is not clear, however, if this is what has caused him to withdraw from Starrcast.

Jerry Lawler vs Terry Funk Empty Arena Match

The famous empty arena match between Jerry Lawler and Terry Funk is now 37 years old. The match took place April 25th, 1981 as part of the long-standing rivalry between the two.

Leading up to the match, Funk expressed it was impossible for him to get a fair fight against Lawler in Memphis. Funk said the entire city of Memphis was biased in Lawler’s favor.

This included the referees, promotion management, fans and even the Memphis police according to Funk. The only way Funk felt he could get a fair fight against Lawler would be within an empty arena.

Starrcast Replacement

Starrcast announced that they have found a replacement session for the Empty Arena Retrospective. A “Total Non-Stop Jarrett” session will now replace the Empty Arena Retrospective.

Jerry Lawler will still be on-hand at Starrcast for photos and autographs despite the change in plans.

Jerry Lawler Provides Update On Brian Lawler Death Investigation

Jerry Lawler appeared on Local 24 Memphis recently to speak further about the investigation into his son’s death.

“It’s like a nightmare that we can’t wake up from”, Lawler said. “It seems like every day something new comes up, we hear something from someone that was either an eyewitness to incidents that happened the day that Brian died or people that have heard stories about just different things that went on in the jail.”

Yesterday, we reported that Lawler’s lawyers are trying to make sense of an affidavit filed regarding an inmate using Brian’s identity.

“Even as recently as just a couple days ago,” Lawler continued. “Somebody in the jail is still using Brian’s identity and was caught for identity theft.”

Brian Lawler Death Investigation

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is looking into the death. The Lawler family has consistently stated they doubt the official version of events which states Brian died via self-inflicted hanging.

“It just doesn’t pass the smell test,” Lawler said earlier this month. “We’ve received literally countless calls, text messages from people, actual eyewitnesses, that were in the jail and saw things that happened on the actual day that Brian died that now has opened up a new can of worms,” he continued. “It just doesn’t seem like it was suicide.”

Experts have also cast doubt on ligature marks found around Brian’s neck.

“Just look at his neck and look at his hand,” Lawler said earlier this month. “You can see the lines on his neck all the way around here to here and what would be the length of your hand as if he was trying to keep the pressure off.”

Brian Lawler Death Investigation Update: New Twist, Lawyer Doubts Official Record

As new details regarding the death of Brian Christopher are becoming known, what exactly happened is becoming less clear.

An affidavit filed last week is stating that inmate Danterriaus Jones committed identity fraud concerning Christopher’s information. Jones made several phone calls from prison using Christopher’s information before Christopher’s death. He used Christopher’s social security number which is required for outgoing prison phone calls. One of the calls is believed to have taken place on July 28th, the day before Christopher died.

Jones is believed to have called the Lawler family and said Brian had been assaulted and had a concussion. The next day when Christopher was being transported for medical care, Jones then called members of his own family.

Jones is being charged with identity theft but lawyers believe this is being done in an attempt to discredit potential future testimony from him. It is possible Jones would testify he was told to notify the Lawler family that Brian had been assaulted in prison the day before he died.

“If you’re skeptical, you might think that there’s a witness in the Hardeman County Jail that someone is attempting to discredit,” Lawler lawyer Ted Hamson said. “That’s one scenario that makes sense.”

The Lawler family has stated they doubt Christopher died via suicide. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is currently looking into the matter.

Private investigators have also raised concerns regarding the evidence in the case. The lack of ligature marks around the neck has been raised by experts.

Brian Christopher Death Investigation

In addition to attempting to contact the Lawler family, Jones did use Christopher’s identity to make calls to his own family, which is likely what is leading to the charge.

“At some point, Brian clearly gave this guy his PIN number,” Hansom continued. “He (Lawler) told him to call his family and let Jerry know what was going on. All that is consistent. After Brian was transported to the Med, this guy attempted to contact his own family to tell them what was going on. But again, nobody has complained about it.”

Jerry Lawler Doubts Brian Christopher Committed Suicide

Jerry Lawler released a “Dinner with the King” podcast today. Although he wouldn’t say much on the topic, Lawler has doubts his son killed himself.

Lawler has previously mentioned he has been asked not to talk about the case by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. He has, however, stated that his family’s been contacted by some within the prison who do not believe Christopher killed himself.

“There’s more to this than we can really talk about now,” Lawler said. “A lot of people have expressed, as I have, doubts as to whether Brian actually did commit suicide.”

Investigation Into Brian Christopher’s Death

An investigation is currently ongoing into Brian Christopher’s death.

“We’ve been contacted by inmates that were in the jail with Brian who said they don’t believe what was told is exactly what happened,” Lawler said.

Lawyers for the family have said they are hoping to obtain security footage from within the jail. The Sheriff’s department has said Christopher was not in solitary confinement but rather placed in a cell by himself for his own protection.

“I probably shouldn’t say anymore,” Lawler continued. “This investigation is going to be on-going and it may take a long time to get this all sorted out,” he continued.

Jerry Lawler wrestled James Ellsworth on Sunday at a USA Wrestling show. He made his entrance while wearing Christopher’s “Grand Master Sexay” vest in tribute to his late son.

His grave was also decorated in Steelers logos and a wagon of championship belts also was present at his funeral.

“This is gotta be one of the toughest days of my life and if I’ve heard it once, I’ve heard it a thousand times,” Lawler said on Friday. “They say the toughest thing for anybody to do is have to bury a child and that’s what we’re going through today.”

“My fiance Lauren and I are standing next to the casket and I keep looking down almost expecting Brian to sit up and start laughing,” Lawler continued. “It’s just tough.”

Investigation Into Brian Christopher’s Death

There is currently an active investigation into the circumstances surrounding Brian Christopher’s death. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has asked family not to comment publicly on the ongoing case.

A lawyer for the family has made a public comment that they are hoping to receive camera footage from within the jail to gain a better understanding of how he was being housed.

The Sherrif’s department has stated Brian was being housed in a cell by himself but was not in solitary confinement.

Jerry Lawler Says He Was With Brian Christopher When He Died

Jerry Lawler has said he was with his son Brian Christopher when he died. He told WHBQ news he was “glad to hold his son’s hand when his heart stopped beating around 3:30 p.m.”

Lawler told the news outlet he and family are overwhelmed with support from friends and the public.

There is an ongoing investigation into Brian Christopher’s death after the former WWE Superstar was found hanging in his cell on Sunday. Christopher was arrested for a 3rd DUI offense and for evading the police a week prior. He was still in jail as he had not posted the $40,000 needed for bail. The family has said they were waiting to determine if they would hire a private or public attorney for his case.

Jerry Lawler Comments On Investigation Into Brian Christopher’s Death

A recent statement by the Sheriff’s office has indicated Christopher was not on suicide watch as he was not thought to be a danger to himself. The police did state he was in a cell by himself due to his fame.

“Mr. Lawler, because of his notoriety, was placed in a cell by himself but as the Sheriff’s Department had no indication he was suicidal, he was not on suicide watch,” the statement reads.

Lawler would only briefly comment on the ongoing investigation into his son’s death. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has asked Lawler not to comment publicly on the matter.

“There may be more to this than meets the eye,” Lawler said in a phone call to WHBQ news.

Yesterday, we reported that Lawler had told Christopher he could get him a job at the WWE Performance Center. The offer came with the condition that Christopher had to stay clean for a year. Christopher’s “Too Cool” tag-team partner, Scotty 2 Hotty, is currently an instructor there.

Jerry Lawler Wanted To Get Brian Christopher Job At WWE PC

Prior to his passing, WWE Hall Of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler wanted to get his son, Brian Christopher, a job with the WWE.

Christopher passed away yesterday after an apparent suicide attempt. He reportedly tried to hang himself in prison and later passed away at a nearby hospital. Doctors reportedly kept him alive long enough for Lawler to come and kiss him goodbye.

Dave Meltzer discussed the entire situation on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio. Meltzer noted that Lawler told Christopher that if he was able to stay clean for a year he’d try and get him a job with WWE, likely something in the Performance Center.

Unfortunately he wasn’t able to stay sober for longer than a few months. Meltzer revealed Christopher attempted to take his own life several years ago as well.

Christopher was arrested this past week in Memphis and charged with a DUI and attempting to evade police. The 46-year-old was reportedly speeding and swerving around at 1 A.M. on July 7th.

Cops attempted to pull Christopher over, but he refused. Police say Lawler told them he initially refused to pull over because he was trying to get home.

One police pulled him over, they smelled alcohol in the vehicle and found an open container in the center console. Christopher was arrested immediately. He was booked for a DUI and evading police. Bail was set at $40,000. Last month, Christopher was arrested for [allegedly] attempting to run out on a hotel bill in Memphis.

Howard Finkel Is In Poor Health According to Jerry Lawler

Legendary WWE ring announcer is said to be in failing health, according to Jerry “The King” Lawler. On the latest episode of his Dinner with the King podcast, Lawler said he believes Finkel may have suffered a stroke and is not doing well.

“I just heard not long ago that Howard is in really, really bad health,” Lawler said. “Not good at all. He may have had a stroke. I’m not sure but I just know that he’s not doing well.”

You can hear the full episode of Dinner With The King Below.

Howard Finkel

For millions of wrestling fans around the world, Howard Finkel and his distinctive voice will always be synonymous with WWE. Finkel began working for Vince McMahon Sr.’s World Wide Wrestling Federation (WWWF) in 1975. He continued with the company when it was taken over by Vince Jr, making him the company’s longest tenured employee.

Inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2009, Finkel had been working a lighter schedule since 2000, with the additions of Lilian Garcia and Tony Chimel to Raw and SmackDown, respectively. He still announced for some of the WWF/E’s major pay-per-view events, and recent had taken a role at WWE.com.

Jerry Lawler: Hulk Hogan-WWE Situation Was Blown Out Of Proportion

One of the biggest news pieces over the weekend is the reinstatement of Hulk Hogan into the WWE Hall Of Fame.

Hogan was released from his WWE deal and from their Hall Of Fame back in 2015 when some racially insensitive comments were made by “The Hulkster” in a leaked sex tape. Last night (Sun. July 15, 2018) it was reported Hogan was backstage for WWE’s Extreme Rules pay-per-view (PPV) to apologize to the entire WWE roster. He was also reinstated into the WWE Hall Of Fame.

Fellow WWE Hall Of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler was recently interviewed on The Roman Show during the annual Florida Supercon. He believes the entire situation was blows out of proportion:

“I am not shocked at all. I was shocked while he wasn’t in the WWE Hall of Fame. I think the whole thing was blown out of proportion. I’ve known Hogan his entire career and for the claims of him being a racist, there was never not one ounce truth to that at all. Like I said, I’ve known the guy my whole life and he is a really good guy and I felt it was an overreaction. I think we go overboard being politically correct.

“I am happy he is back. I am hoping they (WWE) renew a working relationship. Let’s face it, without a doubt he is the most popular WWE Superstar of all time. It’s only right he should still be in the Hall of Fame and working in the WWE.”

Jerry Lawler On The Mr. McMahon Persona First Appearing On Memphis Wrestling TV

WWE Hall Of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler recently did an interview on The Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling to talk about several professional wrestling topics. One such topic was Vince McMahon and his first time working as a heel being in Memphis during the mid 90s. Here’s what he had to say:

“That was part of the deal of Vince sending us some talent to help us out and keep us a float while I was working up there as well. It first started with basically the deal of me and Bret was going really big in the WWE and I asked Vince if it was a possibility we could send Bret and Owen and some of the guys down here to help us out on Monday nights in Memphis so that is what we did.

“The one thing I can’t remember is I think that I had one of our Memphis Championship belts up there with me and I think it was Vince’s idea to make an interview and promo holding the belt talking about how he was sending the WWE talent down. I think it was his first opportunity to become a heel and to talk down to the fans because in the past all Vince had ever done was the commentary in WWE and talk about the product and talk good to the fans.

“But when he was defending the WWE against the Memphis territory, it was his first opportunity to be a heel and I think he fell in love with it. He volunteered to come down and he sat ringside during one of the matches and wound up tripping me and had Pat Patterson as his bodyguard and I honestly belive that was the genesis for the heel Mr. McMahon, who I think and still in my mind is the best heel (and I’m not saying this because I work for the guy or kiss up to him) but during the Attitude Era with Stone Cold Steve Austin and the stuff with The Rock, I think he is the best heel that has ever been in the WWE.”

Jerry Lawler Takes Shot at WWE Critics

WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler talked about fans criticizing WWE’s product online on a recent episode of his podcast, Dinner with the King.

According to Lawler, the vast majority of the fans don’t complain about WWE. It is a small amount of vocal people online who “have nothing better to do” and “need to get a life”:

“Everybody does not complain about the current product. It’s not the vast majority either. It’s a small amount of people, a very select few that probably have nothing better to do than live their life on social media and that is really sad; but, those are the people that complain. If you’ve got nothing better to do in your life than spend time, sitting down and typing something out on your phone and getting on social media to complain about a wrestling show, man, you really do need to get a life. To all of those naysayers there, you’ve got to eat your words because whatever they’re doing is definitely working. You can’t knock success, so there you go.”

Jerry Lawler Opens Up On Suffering Brain Damage Due To Stroke

WWE Hall of Famer Jerry Lawler had a rough go as of late and is now openly talking about it.

Lawler and fellow WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross have called some of the biggest and historic matches/segments in the history of the sports entertainment company. They were featured on the Raw brand for the majority of their time with the WWE. It’s safe to say that they are if not the best commentary team ever put together by WWE Chairman Vince McMahon.

Just last month, Lawler revealed during an episode of ‘Dinner With The King’ that he suffered a stroke at his home on March 21 and was unable to speak for almost three days. Also, his face was also sagging on one side but then woke up on a Saturday morning and was 100% better and able to continue his normal routine.

He did commentary for some of the matches that were featured on the WrestleMania 34 pre-show. Thankfully, he recovered and is well now.

On the most recent episode of his podcast, Lawler gave some more details on the situation. Here is what he had to say:

“I had my first follow up with a neurologist, Dr. Weaver here in Memphis that came to see me while I was in Intensive Care and everything with my stroke. I had to get a cat scan today; but, the cool thing is he showed me a picture, brought me back and showed me a picture of my brain and this was not something I wanted to hear. He said, ‘Let me show you your brain & your brain damage.’ I said, ‘What?’ And he said, ‘Yeah, take a look.’

Lawler continued, “So anyway he shows me the scan of my brain and there was a spot on it, a dark spot, about the size of a quarter. He said, ‘When you were in the hospital that spot was solid white because it was solid blood. Now the blood has been absorbed and that is cells that have been damaged.’ I said, ‘So that amount of cells were damaged?’ He said, ‘Oh yeah, you’re just very fortunate…if that amount, that size, had been further down inside your brain, you could have lost the whole use of the whole left side of your body.’ I have no residual effects at all, I’m lucky.”

He joked, “Well, that would be a surprise, but one of the things that makes it appear more possible than before is, hey, we just saw Daniel Bryan get medically cleared.”

The Greatest Royal Rumble

The Greatest Royal Rumble takes place on April 27th from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The show will feature the first-ever 50-Man Royal Rumble and 7 title matches.

In addition to airing on the WWE Network, the event will broadcast live nationwide throughout Saudi Arabia.

It is notable that neither of the women’s championships will be defended and it is likely no matches featuring female performers takes place.
