Jerry Lawler Reveals How Triple H Joked About He & JR Sleeping At RAW 25

WWE Hall Of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler recently took to his Dinner With The King podcast to talk about several professional wrestling topics. Lawler recently served as a guest commentator for the Men’s Royal Rumble match and discussed the preparations for commentators before the bout:

“Honestly, I think Michael Cole does know. When I said I don’t have to go to production meetings, Michael Cole does. I mean, he has to,” Lawler said. “When you are the main guy you have to be ready for that information so I’m pretty sure who was coming out next from 1-30. I had no list. I went into this thing so unprepared I honestly felt like they may have forgotten they called me to be at the Royal Rumble. I mean, I talked to some people, but nobody in charge. I didn’t speak to anybody in charge all day,” he said.

“I had finished the pre-show and had headed up to the Gorilla position when the Royal Rumble started, because as you know the Men’s Royal Rumble was on the third match, so I went and changed into my old King coat and crown and all of this stuff. I had went up there and started standing around and then the show started. Vince McMahon saw me and got up and shook my hand to ask me how I was and then he went and sat back down. Michael Cole was already out there. I just felt weird because we were getting closer to the time of the Royal Rumble but nobody told me anything.

“Then, I finally had gone to Billy Kidman because he’s the one who kind of runs the time of the show because the Royal Rumble was about to start and then they run a package. I went over to him to ask if I was supposed to be out there already and he looked over at the sheet and said, ‘Oh no; you are going to have your music and entrance.’ I let out a big sigh of relief. Then, little bit after that I went out. I hadn’t talked to anybody; I hadn’t talked to Michael Cole or Corey Graves about what to do or say about the show. I had no clue about anything on the order that was going to happen.”

The King also offered his thoughts on former WWE World Heavyweight Champion and former Royal Rumble match winner Rey Mysterio returning for the bout:

“Rey Mysterio looked amazing. They have John Cena being the spokesperson for Pistachios, Rey Mysterio needs to be the spokesperson for Kapiti. What a tan he had! He’s like Tom Brady. I hope he is back full-time. I wish I had known he was 43 years old, I would have had some one-liners for that.”

Lawler also said that when he ran into Triple H at the Royal Rumble “The Game” joked at him by saying to stay awake for the match. This was in reference to the picture that went viral on social media during RAW 25, making it seem as if Lawler and Jim Ross fell asleep while off-air:

“The first time I saw Triple H at the Royal Rumble, he goes, ‘Hey King.’ I said, ‘Hey Hunter.’ He said, ‘Try to stay awake out there tonight.’ I said, ‘OK.’ So yeah, it’s kind of like a joke.”

Jerry Lawler On Him & JR “Sleeping” At RAW 25, Triple H Saving Manhattan Center Show

On the latest episode of his Dinner With The King podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler discussed last week’s big RAW 25th Anniversary special, Royal Rumble memories and much more. Here are some highlights of what Lawler said about:

The photo showing him and Jim Ross “Sleeping” during RAW 25:

“Our monitors were small and they were down at the lower part of the desk. This picture was taken during a commercial break. The headsets were a little different. I don’t know what the deal was with the chairs, but they were not comfortable, they were not the chairs that were ordinarily used. So during the show, while we were doing the commentary, in order to see the monitor right, I would have to sit up straight and almost lean forward to be able to watch the monitor.

So then, when a commercial break came, I would take that opportunity to kind of sit back and really, just sort of stretch my back. JR was texting. I don’t know how he does it. JR multitasks. He’ll be texting while he’s doing the broadcast, so that’s what he was doing. Throughout the entire show, he did a lot of texting or maybe tweeting. I did a little bit myself.

But anyway, somebody catches that one particular shot and then they put it out on the internet and man, it was all over the place… I know JR was really sensitive to it. It upset JR because that just wasn’t the case. I mean, good gosh, nobody went to sleep during the broadcast of the 25th anniversary of Monday Night Raw.”

Lawler added that there was actually a lot of pressure for him and Jim Ross to perform ‘like old times’ and he felt a lot of pressure before and during the show. He felt it was very difficult to put on a good performance with minimal preparation time.

Overall, he thinks they did well but could have done a lot better if they had more time to practice and get back in their old groove.

Triple H Making Changes To The Manhattan Center Show On The Fly Due To The Upset Crowd:

“I think at first, some fans realized ‘We’re not going to get to see in person a lot of these people that had been advertised,’ when someone is at the Barclays Center and they started showing all these different guys. They started to complain and feel uncomfortable and everything.

I’m not sure, but I think Triple H is the guy who made a call over there and said ‘Hey, we’ve got to give these people more over here.’ So what they started doing, they started sending some of the superstars that were primarily, originally just booked to be at the Barclays Center, they started sending them, putting them in a car service or limos and sending them over to the Manhattan Center. So by the end of the night, the people at the Manhattan Center got to see a ton of the superstars.”

RAW 25 Fans Upset At Manhattan Center, Steve Austin Rips Mike Rome (Video), JR & Lawler Fall Asleep?, More

– As noted, WWE Hall of Famer Steve Austin opened Monday’s RAW 25 special by delivering Stunners to Vince McMahon and Shane McMahon in the opening segment. Austin talks to Mike Rome in this new RAW Fallout video.

Austin says Vince tried to proclaim that he didn’t need anyone’s help while Austin was a big part of the Attitude Era and Vince knows that, and that’s the bottom line. Austin goes on about how it feels good to be here after being out in Los Angeles for a few years. Austin says he showed up, he raised hell and gave a few Stunners for a few time. Austin says he enjoyed talking to the Superstars who are following down the path that he set and the guys that blazed a path before him. Austin says it feels like a big ass family reunion and he’s proud, and happy to be a part of it, to deliver a can of Whoop Ass for the city to watch. Austin then rips into Rome for not having more questions ready for him. Austin calls Rome a chump and tells him to go back and do his homework. Austin wants proper interview time next time he’s back and says Rome is just out of league. Austin calls Rome a piece of trash and rips him a few more times before ending the interview.

– Michael Cole announced 15,990 fans in attendance at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn for Monday’s RAW 25th Anniversary special. WWE did not announce an attendance number for the Manhattan Center’s Grand Ballroom.

– There were two WWE 205 Live dark matches for fans inside the Manhattan Center during the RAW 25 special. The matches aired during commercial breaks of matches at the Barclays Center. The first match saw Mustafa Ali defeat Lince Dorado in around 2 minutes. The second match saw Hideo Itami and Akira Tozawa go at it with Tony Nese and Drew Gulak until they brawled into the backstage area. They later brawled back out into the ringside area during another commercial break as fans chanted “bullshit” and “refund” at them. The finish saw Tozawa pin Gulak.

There were several upset fans at the Manhattan Center due to the lack of matches while most of the action went on at the Barclays Center. WWE Hall of Famers Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler also suffered from the downtime as they were caught snoozing, seen below:

Jim Ross And Jerry Lawler Praised Ahead of RAW Anniversary

It has been confirmed that Jim Ross and Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler will feature on RAW’s 25th Anniversary episode.  The two commentary legends have a long and successful history with WWE, and have become synonymous with professional wrestling commentary.

Triple H recently spoke to USA Today’s “For The Win” to promote the historic episode of RAW, where he highlighted and praised the careers of these two commentary giants.

Some people just have chemistry with each other

The Game pinpointed Lawler’s knowledge and understanding of the business, as well as his ability to turn situations on their head with humour, or the inflection of his voice.  Contrast that with ‘the straight man’ attitude and persona of JR, and it makes an extremely effective duo.  Triple H explained that while Lawler has his excitement and energy, JR provides the intensity, passion, and a sense of realism.

“I would see JR […] on the edge of his seat like every fan in the arena, because at the end of the day he’s just a fan and he was going crazy for what we did, but that’s what made him so good. When you put that energy that he and Jerry [brought] together, it was magical.”

Moreover, it’s their dedication beyond being commentators which is also admirable.

Jim Ross recently appeared on the Unsanction Podcast, where he discussed Shelton Benjamin, as well as disagreements with Vince McMahon.

The commentary legend explained that Shelton Benjamin was a top worker, but the timing always seemed to be off whenever he was in a position to win a heavyweight championship title.  Ross continued by describing Benjamin’s ability on the mic as his main downfall.

But JR was also able to be critical of himself:

“I wasn’t the easiest guy to manage. The story about McMahon used to give J.R. hell; he did sometimes. But guess what, guys? I deserved it sometimes. I deserved to get my ass taken to the woodshed. I’m not infallible, I’m a human being, I have strong opinions, and sometimes I forget who my audience is. And also, I was like one of those guys that I don’t like now and disagreed with every damn thing you say – if you don’t agree with everything I say, you’re an idiot, and I used to think that.”

It’s clear to see that Triple H’s praise seems to be mirrored by Jim Ross’ attitude towards his own work, career, and passion:

“If you’re asking if I could carry the mail on today’s WWE product, absolutely. I like to consider myself a 40-plus year broadcaster. I’ve done boxing, I’ve done MMA, I’ve done NFL, I’ve done XFL. I’d like to think I’m a broadcaster/storyteller. And I believe that if I couldn’t adapt, it’d be on me, not on the product. Because product’s what it is. I’ve done everything from WrestleMania to Smokey Mountain Wrestling. It’s all different man.”

Opinion/Discussion:

Is the combination of Jim Ross and Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler the ultimate commentary team in professional wrestling, let alone just WWE?

Jim Ross Confirms He & Jerry Lawler Are Booked For RAW 25

WWE’s 25th Anniversary special for Monday Night Raw is fast approaching and several legends will be appearing on the show(s) to mark the occasion. Whoever shows up, it wouldn’t be a true Raw reunion without the two most recognizable voices in the show’s historic run, WWE Hall of Famers Jim Ross and Jerry “The King” Lawler.

Both men have been teasing involvement in recent weeks, but JR has since confirmed that he and the King will be on hand – at least for the catering.

WWE is already advertising Brock Lesnar and John Cena for the show, with many more legends rumored to be appearing.

‘RAW 25’ takes place on Monday, January 22nd from both the Manhattan Center and the Brooklyn’s Barclay Center in New York City.

Jim Ross And Jerry “The King” Lawler Likely To Reunite For RAW’s 25th Anniversary Show

On this week’s episode of ‘Dinner With The King,’ co-hosts Jerry “The King” Lawler and Glenn Moore talk about Kane’s legacy in the WWE, and how this current run probably isn’t his last even though he will be running for mayor.

The King also talks about the upcoming 25th Anniversary of RAW, which will take place in Brooklyn and New York City next month. Lawler reveals he will partner with Jim Ross to possibly do some commentary during the episode:

“It’s almost 99.9% certain that J.R. and I will be reunited for the 25th Anniversary Raw show on January 22 to do commentary. Probably the show will be broadcast from two different locations – the Barclays Center and the Manhattan Center. That would make sense to me [J.R. and King at the Manhattan Center].”

Lawler also talks about the Katie Vick storyline in 2003, running for mayor of Memphis, Dick The Bruiser, social media’s influence on wrestling, and much more. You can listen to the full episode by clicking here.

It should also be noted that on the latest episode of his Ross Report podcast, Jim Ross revealed that he and Lawler will be appearing at next month’s RAW 25th Anniversary special.

The RAW 25th Anniversary takes place on Monday, January 22nd from New York City at both the Manhattan Center (site of the first WWE RAW back in 1993) and Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. More appearances from legends are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

Jerry Lawler Comments On Sexual Misconduct In Hollywood

WWE Hall Of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler recently took to his podcast, Dinner With The King, to offer his thoughts on the sexual misconduct allegations that have been sweeping through Hollywood and taking over the mainstream media. Here are some of the highlights:

Sexual impropriety in Hollywood could be linked to heightened sensitivity amongst Americans today in many cases:

“It appears that anybody that [has] ever flirted with anybody or had any kind of sexual contact all-of-a-sudden, you could potentially be a target in the future. I’ve seen pictures in the past of wrestlers, I’m not going to say who or whatever, but, like, this was a guy’s joke, as a prank, like a wrestler falls asleep and then another guy goes over and says, ‘look, take a picture of this!’

“He takes his genitals out and puts it near the guy’s face! I mean, it’s a prank. It’s done in jest, but hey, it’s like a college kid prank. I’ve actually seen that done before. And at the time, you’re thinking, ‘this is entirely harmless,’ but then, all-of-a-sudden, 15 years later, the photograph shows up somewhere and it’s going to offend somebody and that’s the way the country has become, that everything that 99% of the people may think is done in jest or whatever, but then, all-of-a-sudden, that 1% there is going to be offended by it and that 1% can speak as loudly as all the other 99% cannot.”

If he knows of anyone in high power in the wrestling business using that power for sexual favors:

“I don’t know. I’ve don’t know of anything. I haven’t heard of anything like that happening before. But, gosh, the times have just changed so much. Good grief! I remember the stuff on commentary, the things we would be able to get away with saying that, God, nowadays, people’s heads would explode! Can you imagine going out [on WWE TV now] and saying, ‘oh, we have a bra and panties match coming up tonight!’ My gosh, that used to be a highlight of the show, the bra and panties match! I remember one of my favorite lines was, ‘panties aren’t the greatest thing in the world, but they are next to it!'”

If he’s upset by fans of The Attitude Era thinking that he really believed everything he said on commentary:

“No, not at all. It really [does not]. Everybody, I mean, to a man or a person, really, that ever talks to me about things that we said or did during ‘The Attitude Era’, they talk with fondness. They loved it. I mean, they say, ‘man, it’ll never be that good again,’ so I don’t know. It was just that at that time, it didn’t offend people. I don’t know how the country and people’s attitudes have changed so much over a short period of time that now those things are just taboo, but back during that time, that’s all I hear about now, ‘oh my gosh, I used to love it when you’d commentate on a bra and panties match’ or with the Divas. I mean, good grief, we’ve gone so far now, you can’t even refer to them as Divas. The women have to be treated the same as the men and I don’t know. That’s just the way times have changed.”

Jerry Lawler Talks PC Culture, Hollywood Sexual Assault Allegations, More…

Jerry Lawler recently spoke on several subjects on his “Dinner with the King” podcast.

Lawler and his co-host spoke on the Hollywood sexual assault scandal, PC culture, and fans’ memories of the Attitude Era.

Jerry Lawler on Sexual Misconduct in Wrestling/Hollywood:

Lawler was asked if there would be a similar scandal in wrestling as there is in Hollywood if people started talking..

“It appears that eventually anybody that’s ever flirted with anybody or had any kind of sexual contact with anybody is, all of a sudden, you could potentially be a target in the future.”

“I’ve seen pictures in the past of wrestlers, I’m not gonna say who or whatever, this was guys, but as a joke or a prank, a wrestler falls asleep, and another guy comes over and says ‘take a picture of this’ and he takes his genitals out and puts it near the guy’s face,” Lawler remembered. “It’s a prank and it’s done in jest, but it’s like a college kid’s prank. I’ve seen that done before.”

“At the time, you’re thinking ‘this is totally harmless,’” he continued. “But then if all of a sudden if, 15-years-later, that photograph shows up somewhere, it’s gonna offend somebody. That’s the way the country has become, that everything that 99% of the people may think is done in jest, or whatever, all of a sudden that 1% out there is gonna be offended by it. And that 1% can speak as loudly as the other 99% cannot.”

Jerry Lawler on PC Culture

“Good grief. I remember the stuff at commentary, things that we would be able to get away with saying, that nowadays, god, people’s heads would explode. Could you imagine going out and saying, get ready, tonight, we’ve got a bra and panties match. That used to be the highlight of a show. A bra and panties match.”

“I remember, one of my favorite lines,” Lawler added, “was, panties aren’t the greatest thing in the world, but they are next to it.”

On Fans’ Memories of the Attitude Era:

“I don’t know how the country and people’s attitudes have changed so much over a short period of time that now those things are taboo,” Lawler lamented. But back during that time, I mean, that’s all I’d hear about. ‘My gosh, I used to love it when you’d commentate on a bra and panties match, or you know, with the divas.’”

Jerry Lawler Says The WWE Has Become Politically Correct

WWE Hall Of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler has launched another episode of his podcast, Dinner With The King, in which he discusses a variety of professional wrestling topics. During the interview Lawler touched on WWE being labeled as PG by many people, but thinking it’s actually rated PC for Politically Correct. Here are the highlights:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GArkRkvwwp0

Jim Carrey’s ‘Jim and Andy’ film tidbit:

“After we finished wrapping the movie and did that the last scenes in New York, that day he [Jim Carrey] invited me to dinner, and- and this was like this is going to be so cool because, you know, he was going to be out of character I was used to him being Andy Kaufman.

“So I was going to get to go to dinner and after all this bad blood between he and I during the filming of the movie, we were going to go out to eat together and then then sit and talk about all of this stuff. So he told me this really nice restaurant and to meet him at there in New, York, City. Anyway I went and he stood me up and he talks about that. I didn’t realize at the time that he did it intentionally. But I didn’t know that until I saw this documentary. He was even more of a jerk than I thought.”

WWE being PG or PC:

“Everybody says ‘what does PG mean?’ Think everybody gets that wrong. I don’t think they’re PG. PG means you can be risky and and say some stuff like that, but then it’s up to the parents to decide. If that’s okay, for your kid to hear it, that’s what that means. Parental guidance.

“So the parents should listen and decide whether they think this is okay for the kids, but I think what the WWE has become is PC. And, it’s what the whole world has become politically correct and worrying about offending anybody. That’s what keeps you muzzled so to speak.”

Jerry Lawler Talks About RAW’s 25th Anniversary, The Show’s Early Days

On this week’s episode of ‘Dinner With The King,’ WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler and Glenn Moore spoke about some of the monsters he booked during the classic Memphis wrestling days.

The King spoke about the big 25th Anniversary of Monday Night RAW on January 22nd and if he plans to be part of the celebration.

“I’m not really sure. I would expect to be. How could they talk about 25 years of Raw without including me in some sort of way?”

“I know I’m going to be a part of the Royal Rumble [broadcast]. I don’t know about calling the match, but probably the kick-off show and all that sort of stuff.”

He also spoke about the early days of Monday Night RAW back in 1993.

“One of the things about was amazing about it, was the Manhattan Center wasn’t a very bigvenue. At the time, they didn’t know how successful this thing was going to become. It was in the very early stages. Just an infant being born at the Manhattan Center. And this place was small compared to the Barclays Center. It was a very small venue.

The main thing I remember is having to dress, get ready for the matches, and get ready for the show in the stairwells. There was just not enough dressing rooms. And guys were dressing every little nook and cranny and broom closets to get ready for the show.”

Dusty Rhodes Explains How He Came Up With War Games, Jerry Lawler On Kurt Angle’s In-Ring Return

WWE has released a new video of late WWE legend Dusty Rhodes on their official YouTube channel. In the video, as seen below, the Hall Of Famer is seen explaining how he came up with the concept of WarGames match:

It’s worth mentioning here that WWE will be bringing back the WarGames match for the upcoming NXT Takeover event during the Survivor Series weekend after almost 20 years. You can check out the updated match card for the show here.

– During the latest episode of Dinner With The King podcast, WWE Hall Of Famer Jerry Lawler commented on Kurt Angle’s recent in-ring return at the TLC PPV saying that he is happy for Kurt. Here is what he said:

“Kurt and I talked at-length about that [in the past], how much he wanted to still wrestle with WWE. He was happy with the contract and happy to be back with the WWE, but he was not crazy about the fact, I guess they had already told him that they didn’t think they wanted him to do things like get in the ring and wrestle. I know he was lobbying for that [to wrestle] and I know he really wanted to do that. I’m happy for Kurt.”

Jerry Lawler Remembers Lance Russell, Says He Belongs In WWE Hall of Fame (Audio)

This week’s episode of Jerry Lawler’s Dinner With The King podcast featured Lawler paying tribute to Lance Russell, the “Voice of Memphis Wrestling” who passed away earlier this week at 91 years old.

The episode of opened with a tribute to Lance:

Here are some highlights from this week:

Lawler on Russell’s effect on his career and life:

“You know, a lot of times when a loved one or a great, close friend passes away, you are left with the feeling that I never really got to say goodbye or I never really got to tell the person how I felt about them.

But I’m happy in the fact that over the years, I did have several opportunities to tell Lance how much I thought I thought of him, how much I loved him, how important he was to me. Without Lance, there would be no me. And I knew that, and I had the opportunity to say that to Lance Russell. I loved Lance Russell. There’ll never be another person like him.”

Should Lance Russell be in the WWE Hall of Fame?

“I think he’s certainly deserving. Even though he didn’t ever work for the WWE, hey, WWE is putting a lot of people in the Hall of Fame that didn’t necessarily work for them. Which I think is a great thing. Even though it’s called the WWE Hall of Fame, they are opening their arms a little further; it’s more of a wrestling hall of fame. At least in my eyes, he’s the greatest wrestling commentator ever.”

The episode closed with Jerry Lawler saying goodbye to Lance Russell:

Terry Funk Returns To The Ring At Age 73 (Photos)

On Friday evening, WWE Hall Of Famer Terry Funk made his return to the ring at age 73.

Funk worked the Big Time Wrestling event in Raleigh, North Carolina, teaming up with the Rock ‘N’ Roll Express to take on Jerry “The King” Lawler, Brian Christopher and Doug Gilbert.

The match was said to be a bit ‘all over the place’ and ‘chaotic.’ In the end, Funk and the Rock ‘N’ Roll Express picked up the win via disqualification after Lawler attacked the referee.

Jerry Lawler Looks Back At His Heart Attack On RAW 5 Years Ago

This past week marked five years since WWE Hall of Famer Jerry Lawler suffered a heart attack live on the air during Monday Night RAW. Dr. Michael Sampson joined this week’s Dinner With The King podcast and spoke about his role in saving Lawler’s life back in 2012.

The episode, titled “Cardiac Arrest,” featured a discussion that was somewhat morbid and focused a lot on death and the logistics involved with having a will, funeral plans and selecting a grave site.

Lawler admitted that when he suffered the heart attack on RAW and nearly died, he had not made the necessary ‘post life’ arrangements.

“You know what, I’ll be perfectly honest with ya, I’m telling the world this right now,” said Lawler. “No, I did not [have burial plans]” And I don’t even have a will. I really got to do that. I’ve just always been under the assumption that when you make out a will, you’re betting against yourself.”

Lawler said he wound up buying a plot at the Memphis Memorial Park at the cemetery’s “celebrity row.”

“They wound up selling me a plot. They also sold me a, not a monument or a marker, but a thing that covers your grave. And I’m going to be buried next to Isaac Hayes; they literally have a celebrity row at Memphis Memorial Park. Yes, I’ve gone out there a couple times and just looked at the ground, the plot.”

“Lauryn [Jerry’s fiancé] and I have gone out there a couple times, and I’ll say, “This is the spot. The cover that covers your grave is a bronze plate; it costs like $50,000. I need to give them the pictures and layout for the cover.”

Jerry Lawler On Sasha’s ‘Overzealous Fans’ Rant, WWE Shows On Xmas & New Year’s

On the latest episode of his Dinner With The King podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler spoke about his recent one-night return to the RAW commentary booth, WWE holding shows on Christmas and New Year’s Day and Sasha Banks ranting about overzealous ‘stalker’ fans.

Several weeks back, Jerry Lawler filled in for Booker T on WWE RAW commentary when Booker T was unable to make the show due to Hurricane Harvey. Lawler got strong reviews for his guest spot and was asked if WWE floated the possibility of him calling the action on RAW more regularly.

“Umm, no. But if they did, I missed the call,” Lawler joked. “I was more than happy to come back to fill in for Booker T on Raw when the hurricane kept him from being able to be at the show. But if they were to call me and ask me to come back on a full-time basis, it would be a really, really tough decision to make. If they said I was going to make the same money as I did before, that would go a long way in making me consider going back again.”

Earlier this week, WWE announced that for the first time ever, Monday Night RAW will broadcast live on Christmas and New Year’s Day. Lawler was surprised to hear the news and said he would never wrestle on Christmas. “I would never wrestle on Christmas,” he said. “That’s almost sacrilegious to me. I wouldn’t do it.”

One of the big stories from last week came from an interview Sasha Banks on the Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast. She ranted about overzealous ‘stalker’ fans who ambush her at airports and hotel lobbies at 4am and sell her autographs on eBay. Several wrestles reacted to the remarks on Twitter, stating that fans pay their salaries and it should be an honor to have fans who are so loyal.

As one of the biggest stars in the history of the business, Jerry Lawler is quite familiar with overzealous fans. So, what did the King think about Sasha’s comments?

“You can’t be offended or get mad at them when you accomplished what you set out to do, and that’s be famous. So I think Sasha Banks needs to step back and think about what Bubba Ray Dudley says, because they will be a day when nobody is waiting for an autograph, and you’ll wish you were back in the way it is now.

But you gotta stop and for just a minute and explain that you will try to come back later or you’ll trying to eat your pizza while it’s hot. You can’t just ignore them. If you take a little time and be nice to those fans, that usually works out for the best.

There are stalkers out there, people who can be dangerous out there. I’m looking at it from my own, male perspective. But Sasha is looking at it from her perspective. I understand both points of view though.”

Jerry Lawler Says Ric Flair Had a 20% Chance To Survive Recent Surgery

On this week’s edition of Jerry “The King” Lawler’s  Dinner With The King pocast, Lawler spoke with c-host Glenn Moore about his return to Monday’s WWE RAW from Memphis.

“Originally, they were going to do something with Pelvis Wesley and wanted me to be there to introduce him. So I knew I was going to be on the show. And it wasn’t basically until 3 p.m. in the afternoon, I got a text message from Michael Cole saying, ‘Get your ass down to the FedEx Forum; you’re going to be doing the commentary tonight.’

But it was great to be back. I wish I would have been able to do more with Corey Graves, as far as going back and forth with.  Vince McMahon said, after the show, that I hadn’t missed a beat and gave me a hug.”

Lawler also provided new information regardingRic Flair’s condition after a recent conversation with fellow WWE Hall of Famer Ricky Steamboat, who visited Flair in the hospital.

“Apparently it was really a touch and go situation, they explained to him [Ricky Steamboat], and when the Nature Boy had that first surgery, the doctors said that Ric had a 20% chance of survival of making it through that surgery. But we all know that he did pull through. And I heard yesterday, he’s already cutting promos on nurses.”

Other topics discussed include Lawler’s visit Playboy Mansion, his most outrageous purchases over the years, if Jerry Jarrett will be in the WWE Hall of Fame someday, and much more. You can listen to the full episode here:

Jerry Lawler Thinks Hulk Hogan Will Be Back In WWE

On the latest episode of his “Dinner With The King” podcast, Jerry Lawler and co-host Glenn Moore were joined by WWE Hall Of Famer Jimmy Hart. During the show, they discussed the career of Hulk Hogan and possibility of the Hulkster resurfacing in WWE following his sex tape / racism scandal.

Despite all the negative headlines, Lawler and Hart are convinced we haven’t seen the last of Hulk Hogan in WWE. “In the wrestling world, you never say never,” said Lawler. “I thought it was way big overreaction what happened with Hulk in this most recent situation — the reason why he’s not in WWE at the moment.”

Lawler continued, “But I think that has definitely blown over. It was never a big deal to begin with. And I don’t think anybody even thinks about that anymore. I do think a lot of people would like to see Hulk come back. I think, right now, the ball is in Hulk’s court. If he wants to come back, I think he would definitely be able to come back.”

Jimmy Hart added, “You have seen clips of the Hulk being sprinkled into video packages lately on WWE programming. So I think one day that Hulk will be back where he deserves to be, with the WWE. I really do.”

Jerry Lawler On Talking Smack Scaled Back, Great Khali’s Return

On the latest edition of Jerry “The King” Lawler’s Dinner With The King podcast, co-hosts Jerry Lawler and Glenn Moore discuss the possible reasons why WWE decided to scale back on Talking Smack and only feature it as a PPV post-show.

When told about a rumor involving Vince McMahon not being happy with The New Day being on the show before debuting on Smackdown, The King shot that down. He also shed some light in Vince’s role with the show behind the scenes.

“As far as anything, like Vince’s decisions, who really knows other than Vince? I would highly doubt — just me personally and knowing Vince and knowing the situation — that the story you just said has any accuracy to it whatsoever.

I’m sure the guests on Talking Smack, all of that is probably run by Vince before the show goes on. Because I know the fact that I was going to be on Talking Smack was run by Vince before I was allowed to be on there.”

As far as the possible real reason why the show was cut down?

“It might have been logistics. When you’re talking these guys have been there all day long, and the crew has been there two days. And to ask them to stay an extra hour or two when everything else is being broke down and when all the other superstars have left getting back to their hotel or going on to the next city; it’s tough. It is hard. I’m sure there were some complaints from people not too happy about staying to do that. As opposed to the one after the pay-per-view; that’s easy.”

When talking about Battleground, he reveals most people backstage did not know The Great Khali was in the building.

“It’s so funny how things like that happen. People in the company, like myself and Renee Young and people doing the show, we had no idea that The Great Khali was in the arena.”

Other topics talked about on this show were: King’s return to WWE in 2001, going to an Australian brothel with Bret Hart, the XWF, and more.

Alexa Bliss and Nia Jax have been portrayed as friends on recent episodes of RAW.

Jerry Lawler Reacts to The Usos Going Off-Script During SDLive Rap Battle

WWE Hall Of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler has released another episode of his podcast, Dinner With The King, and discussed The Usos going off-script during their rap battle against The New Day last night (Tues. July 4, 2017) on SmackDown Live, and defending his retweet of President Donald Trump. Here’s what he had to say:

The Usos going off-script during rap battle:

“You say Vince [McMahon] would have not been pleased, but I’m sure that’s not what would have been something that they told him to say or been scripted. Once again, that was one of the things that Vince used to always say: It’s live TV; nothing can go wrong.

“Because of that, anything can happen on live TV.“

Defending his retweet of Donald Trump:

“Not as much negative reaction as I thought I was going to get. To me, it was pretty cool, no matter who the President is. It’s the President of the United States and they put out a tweet and you’re in it. I mean, c’mon! There’s not many people that can say that happened to them, so I just thought it was cool.

“Everyone just needs to lighten up. That was a funny tweet. You gotta admit, whether you like Donald Trump or whatever, it was the President of the United States putting out a funny tweet. Lighten up. What is wrong with that?”

Jerry Lawler Talks About Daniel Bryan & Kurt Angle Wanting To Wrestle Again

On the latest episode of his Dinner With The King podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler and his co-host Glenn Moore spoke about the possibility of Kurt Angle and Daniel Bryan returning to the ring one day.

When asked to predict whether Angle or Bryan would be the first one to lace up their boots again, Lawler says his pick is Kurt Angle. He went on to provide some insight regarding how Angle and Bryan must feel by working for WWE but relegated to the sidelines.

“I can relate to both of these guy’s situation,” he said. “I promise you neither Kurt Angle or Daniel Bryan go into this business and worked their way to the WWE to be general managers on Raw and Smackdown. I can assure they are doing it, but without a doubt, they are doing it because that the WWE wants them to do right now. Because they feel like their wrestling would be a liability in the ring right now.

I know that they would both rather be out there performing in front of all the fans in the ring. And it’s gotta be eating them both up inside that the WWE thinks they are not capable of doing that anymore.”

Other topics discussed this week include King’s 2010 feud with then-WWE Champion The Miz, the Ball family’s appearance on RAW this week and Cody Rhodes wanting to wrestle him sometime in the near future. You can listen to the full episode here:

Jerry Lawler Comments on “Hard to Watch” Alexa Bliss Segment on RAW

This past Monday on RAW, Alexa Bliss delivered an angle that wasn’t received well by the WWE Universe as she attempted to host a “This Is Your Life” segment for Bayley.

The angle featured some people from Bayley’s past, such as her ex-boyfriend and former best friend who ended up making out in the end. The crowd wasn’t really into it and the WWE was so ashamed with the segment that virtually all references to the segment were removed from their YouTube page, with the exception of Bliss’ attack on Bayley following the event:

WWE Hall Of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler took to his podcast, Dinner With The King, to comment on the angle and stated that the WWE needs to “move on” from it:

“Sometimes things happen that just don’t turn out like you envision it. I’m sure that’s exactly what happened there. Here’s the other thing: it’s live T.V. That’s a double-edged sword, believe me. When something doesn’t turn out the way you planned it, there’s nothing you can do about it. It’s there. It was live and everybody saw it. That was just one of those cases. You just gotta move on.”

Lawler also referenced what RAW commentator Booker T said during the ordeal, as his fellow Hall Of Famer said it was “hard to watch”:

“You know what, that could have well have been a Vince [McMahon] line. I’m not sure, because I wasn’t there. But either way, that was the right thing to say. It was probably conveying the thoughts of everybody watching it.”

Jerry Lawler Talks About Rushing to Owen Hart’s Side After His Fall in 1999

The most tragic moment in WWE history occurred 18 years ago at WWE Over The Edge 1999 when WWE Superstar Owen Hart suffered a tragic fall from the rafters that subsequently led to his death. One man who witnessed the account firsthand was longtime WWE commentator and WWE Hall Of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler.

Lawler took to his podcast, Dinner With The King, to reflect on that night, which occurred 18 years ago this week:

Owen’s accident being 18 years ago:

“It just seems hard to believe it’s been 18 years since that night. Because that night is still so vivid in my mind. For some reason I was looking around as the promo was playing. I glanced up and was looking around. And as the promo was going, I just saw something. I couldn’t say that I saw it; saw Owen actually fall. I just saw a blur.”

Rushing to Hart’s side after it happened:

“Once your heart is no longer beating anymore, I could just see his face turn gray, from the tip of his nose all the way down his face as the blood was settling in his body. I knew, I realized that moment right then, that Owen was gone.”

Jerry Lawler Reacts to Randy Orton’s Criticism of Indy Wrestling

On the tenth episode of WWE Hall Of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler’s podcast, Dinner With The King, Lawler discussed the current hot topic of WWE Champion Randy Orton ripping the indy wrestling scene. You can check out what he had to say here:

“I think that the problem Rip [Rogers] and Randy [Orton] have is what the young guys think they need to do to get noticed. It’s what the young guys do in these matches that bothers guys who have been in the business for a while. The young guys, like they said, they have a tendency to go out there and try to squeeze in every single move that they know. Every dive. Every flip. Every flop. Everything they can put in one 15-minute match. So in order to do that, if you are going to put all those moves in, you’re not going to have time to sell anything. It’s just going to be one move after another until the match is over.

“That is not the way wrestling became what it is today. Not what I think veterans look at and not what the business is supposed to be. It’s not that really entertaining for fans. I think that’s Rip’s and Randy’s point they are trying to make there.”
