AEW Producer Not Happy About Hangman Page Fake Injury Report

Adam Page has faced several injuries during his career, so fans were worried about his status this week after AEW Dynamite. While it seemed he sustained an injury on Dynamite this week, it was later disclosed to be all part of the show.

Hangman Page’s Kayfabe Injury

During this week’s AEW Dynamite main event, AEW World Champion Samoa Joe, Swerve Strickland, and Brian Cage faced FTW Champion HOOK, “Hangman” Adam Page, and RVD. Fans were quick to notice a moment where Adam Page appeared to twist his ankle as he got out of Samoa Joe’s Muscle Buster. Post-show footage captured Page limping backstage, and Hangman said his foot was, “bad.”

Dave Meltzer initially reported Page’s ankle injury. Then, Fightful Select corrected this as it was stated that Adam Page was simply playing his part for the audience.

Jeremy Lynn expressed his frustration on Twitter regarding a report debunking Adam Page’s injury. Lynn emphasized his disappointment, suggesting it would have been better kept as a secret until next week.

”This shouldn’t even be announced. God forbid we have a cliff hanger for next week.”

What’s Next

We will have to see how AEW uses this storyline. Since Jerry Lynn said that fans should have waited until next week, odds are Tony Khan has some kind of follow up in the pipeline. Only time will tell if this leak about Page will change AEW’s creative direction.

SEScoops will keep a close eye on this story for further updates.

For The Betterment Of AEW, Tony Khan Needs To Hot Tag In These Duos Behind The Curtain

One really couldn’t think of a greater moral compass for a wrestling company than Bryan Danielson. He by all accounts, has the perfect balance of life – one that exists outside of wrestling (which is pretty key if we’re being honest – wrestlers and fans alike). He’s got a family to keep him grounded, causes to be an advocate for and plenty of books to read. He can disassociate from pro wrestling, a career he’s still absolutely passionate about, but bring in out of the ring elements for better synergy.

Even that considered, he’s a team player, extremely considerate and a modern wrestling oracle to pick the brain of. You factor in Jerry Lynn, those two are the ultimate good cops.

You need a bad cop.

A heavy. Someone who doesn’t take any kind of nonsense, looks at the bottom line for what it is. Does “they” or “their actions” or what they’re doing help the growth of the company? If they don’t do such, cut whatever fat there may be. There should be two credible sheriffs in town and that “bad cop” onus should not be burdened upon one of your top on-air talents.

That’s also not saying Tony Khan should recruit a “yes man, either. Being a billionaire, he’s probably got a few already and they’re certainly not helping to grow the product. However, if Tony could take himself out of the equation, and put the trust in the team he’s assembled, he would do wonders for his company. A company that quite frankly, is failing to hit its mark in certain ways.

In addition to a heavy, there’s so many established names who could help better the promotion if he gave them full autonomy to regulate like Nate Dogg and Warren G. And instead of just one, why not make it two? Here are some “tag teams” behind the scenes that Tony Khan could utilize (two of which who currently aren’t under contract).

Jake Roberts & Arn Anderson

Who was equally excited and intrigued at the possibility of Jake Roberts back with a pro wrestling company? Who was also equally disappointed that Arn wasn’t made the most of during his tenure here? Both he and his son Brock were not re-signed when their contracts expired and it feels like a missed opportunity by Tony Khan on both names, who seemed to only associate them with Cody Rhodes’ time here.

How much could that young talent learn from “The Snake” or “The Enforcer”when it comes to promo skills, ring psychology and real life problems?

Re-sign the Andersons and designate Arn and Jake as your Dusty Rhodes to your NXT. Let them filter through the good and the bad before they’re Dynamite ready and don’t let anybody tell them “no” either.

Jeff Jarrett & Jim Ross

Tony Khan admittedly says he overworks himself and that’s why Bryan Danielson appointed Jimmy Jacobs to help as an assistant. Khan did tap into wrestling history when he signed Jeff Jarrett, first as a talent and then as the Senior Vice President of Live Events, but Double J wears a lot of hats. Khan has shown the capability of laying out a great (albeit very long) PPV, but weekly television programming is another story. Actually sometimes there’s so many stories it’s hard to pin good ones down, especially if you’re a casual viewer.

Allowing Jarrett and JR (who currently is away from television), to be your ultimate booking brain trust lends your company to the old school booking mindset, a structure AEW truly needs. Paring two names who learned from the best in the territory days is really only going to help a show that’s too fast-paced and too cluttered.

Karen Jarrett & Mickie James

If you watch the AEW women’s division, you know it feels neglected. Major names and pinnacle storytellers like Thunder Rosa and Britt Baker are currently not competing, and the announcements of any women’s match feels sudden without any pomp, circumstance or substance (with the exception of “Timeless” Toni Storm, of course.)

She may not be under contract with AEW, but Mickie James knows how to book an all-women’s wrestling show. She did that with NWA Empowerrr and she’s doing it again in 2024 in Australia as a part of Starrcast VI.

Karen Jarrett knows how to make the most of her on camera without even doing a hip-toss. Unfortunately for the women, many don’t receive the experience or the opportunity to let their personalities shine. Both these veterans tagging up would do wonders for bringing the AEW women back to relevancy.

Paul Wight & Mark Henry

Remember the aforementioned “heavy”? Taking it figuratively and literally with this these two. Both legends are currently signed with AEW, but not much is being done with either and it’s unfortunate. Wight is someone who’s main-evented and worked with main-eventers his entire career while Henry has been someone who’s wrestled all throughout the card.

You think a talent is going to go off-script or do a dangerous move for a forgettable pop if they have to answer to Wight or Henry afterwards? If they did it would most likely be their last time and that’s not even considering the name cache they. Make these two your “bad cops” and they would know how to maintain a healthy relationship in the locker room.

Matt Hardy & Chris Jericho

From how it sounds, AEW has its fair share of locker room leaders behind the scenes, but what about having two primary checkpoints who have shown the ability to adapt, innovate and sympathize?

Jericho and Hardy have formed friendships with anybody and everybody of whatever status or age, including the AEW EVPs. Maybe they already are, but making them the go-to mediators for any issues between boots and management could cultivate a solid structure within AEW’s loaded ecosystem of stars.

Jerry Lynn & Dustin Rhodes

Nobody should ever have a bad word to say about Jerry Lynn and if you do, you’re likely part of the problem. It’s been too awesome to have Lynn and Dustin Rhodes be a vital part of AEW’s growth and if there’s been chaos backstage, you can guarantee neither have been apart of it.

Giving them the opportunity to harness and harmonize your roster from an in-ring standpoint is likely something that has happened on several occasions. Both have an old-school upbringing, but very different styles, Make them have the final say as to what goes down between the ropes every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

Appreciate The Past & Look Forward To The Future

With all these legendary names behind the curtain or in the ring, it’s easy to say so many are being under-utilized, but the presentation of the current AEW product speaks to the notion that they’re standing on the apron.

Give them the hot tag and let them take you home. That’s teamwork.

Jerry Lynn Provides Health Update After Pulling Out Of Starrcast

Former ECW star and current AEW coach Jerry Lynn had announced last week that he was pulling out of the Starrcast IV convention because of a health issue but at the time there weren’t many details available about his health.

The wrestling veteran provided an update on his status from his Twitter account recently and in a tweet, he revealed that he will be undergoing surgery for a bulging disc.

Lynn announced that he will be having this operation later this month on November 29 and revealed that it will take him 3 to 4 weeks to recover from the surgery:

Jerry Lynn started his wrestling career in 1998 and he got significant exposure when he got engaged in a two-year-long feud with The Lightning Kid in the early 90s. He then joined WCW’s Cruiserweight Division in 1995.

He signed with Paul Heyman’s ECW in September 1997 after getting fired from WCW while being injured, in July earlier that year. He stayed with the company until the end and main evented the last PPV under the original ECW brand.

Apart from these two companies, Jerry Lynn has also had stints with WWE, TNA and ROH. He was signed by AEW as a coach and producer earlier this year.

All Elite Wrestling Signs Former ECW Champion Jerry Lynn

All Elite Wrestling has announced the signing of former ECW Champion and former ROH World Champion Jerry Lynn in a coach position.

The company revealed the news via a tweet from their Official Twitter account and replying to it, Lynn claimed that he is privileged to become a part of the promotion:

Jerry is a 30 year veteran of the business and he has worked for almost all major wrestling promotions in America since his debut in the industry back in 1988.

Since his debut, he has had stints with WCW, the original ECW, WWE, TNA and ROH and he has also worked for a number of promotions outside of the continent during his tours.

In his long and illustrated career, Jerry Lynn has won over a dozen championships including the ECW Championship and the Ring Of Honor World Heavyweight Championship.

It’s interesting to note here that he also won the NWA Tag Team Championship with the current WWE Star AJ Styles while TNA was in its early days in 2002 and they held a tournament to crown new champions.

Jerry is the first person to have signed officially as a coach by AEW. Though there are other stars in the company who people believe will be working in a similar capacity too, including Christopher Daniels and Billy Gunn.

Go Fund Me Campaign Started To Help Jerry Lynn

Brian Fritz of Between The Ropes announced on Monday that a Go Fund Me campaign has been started to help longtime wrestling veteran Jerry Lynn.

Fritz issued the following:

I’m hoping that you can help spread the word on the GoFundMe campaign that has just started to help former TNA X-Division, ECW World and Ring of Honor champion Jerry Lynn.

https://www.gofundme.com/helpjerrylynn

Jerry is one of the best guys you will ever meet in and out of wrestling. Plus, he had a fantastic 25-year career putting on exciting wrestling matches that have thrilled so many of us.

All those years of taking bumps have taken a toll on him and he needs our help. We’re looking to raise money for his medical bills with a Go Fund Me campaign at GoFundMe.com/helpjerrylynn.

Jerry has been experiencing chronic neck pain as well as pain in his right arm and numbness. The first procedure will be neck surgery to remove bones spurs, replace three degenerative discs, and fuse his vertebrae. He will be having this procedure done on Thursday, August 6.

Jerry has also been suffering with severe pain in his back for the last three months due to a bulging disc. He will likely need surgery for this as well, and he hopes to have that done as soon as possible following his neck surgery.

Jerry does have medical insurance, but he needs help in paying the $5,000 deductible. Plus, he will be out of work recovering for 2-3 months, which will put a hardship on his family, including his wife and young daughter.

It is time for us as a wrestling community to pull together and give back to Jerry after everything he has done for us, his fans.

To help cover all of his expenses, we are hoping to raise $15,000. Jerry would like to give anything over that amount to charity to help others in need. The charity he has chosen is the Nashville Rescue Mission which seeks to help the hurting of Middle Tennessee by offering food, clothing, and shelter to the homeless and recovery programs to those enslaved in life degrading problems.

This is our moment to give back and help one of the truly great guys. Please go to www.GoFundMe.com/helpjerrylynn and donate — any amount will help.

Former ECW Star Says Dawn Marie’s Wrestler’s Rescue Is A Scam

Wrestler’s Rescue, a charitable organization founded by Dawn Marie Psaltis in 2008 to raise money to support the health care needs of retired professional wrestlers, is once again subject of scandal with rumors of embezzlement of funds by the former WWE Diva.

After former WWE Superstar “The Ugandan Giant” Kamala (real name James Harris) released a video message Tuesday condemning Psaltis and Dan Mirade of Boston-based independent wrestling promotion Millenium Wrestling Federation for raising money on his behalf that he has yet to receive, another embezzlement allegation was levied towards the retired women’s wrestler by one of her former colleagues.

Brian Heffron, who worked alongside Psaltis in Extreme Championship Wrestling as Blue Meanie, noted Wednesday on Twitter that two years ago, she launched a similar campaign fund meant to assist fellow alumnus Jerry Lynn with back surgery costs and was asked to donate an item for her to auction. Heffron, however, says Lynn was unaware of the campaign fund and noted that he never received money from Psaltis.

After posting a link to Harris’ video message, Heffron wrote, “I always had a feeling “Wrestler’s Rescue” was a scam since they aren’t a registered charity AND wrestler’s who they’ve collected for never got a dime that was supposed to get to them. 2 years ago I was asked to donate an item for auction for Jerry Lynn’s back surgery. He told me he didn’t know about and didn’t get a A DIME.”

He continues, “I always heard rumors “Wrestler’s Rescue” ripped off MY IDOL Steve Williams. Then I heard straight from Jerry Lynn he never received a penny. I never really thought of speaking out until I saw the video Kamala made. It’s a shame to collect money off off false pretenses.”

In June, Psaltis set up the “Kamala Campaign Fund” and said that money generated from the fund through auctions on their official website, WrestlersRescue.org (currently suspended by its hosting company), would assist Harris with “medical care, basic living costs and a myriad of other expenses as he transitions into a more handicapped-accessible world.” After claiming in the video that he has received nothing from Wrestler’s Rescue or Dawn Marie, Harris tells her to take any money she may have raised on his behalf “to Massachusetts and ram it up Dan Mirade’s ass.” He also wants Mirade to take any money he may have raised on his behalf “to New Jersey and ram it up Dawn Marie’s ass.”

Jerry Lynn Comments On His Back Injury

SEScoops confirmed over the weekend that former ECW Champion Jerry Lynn has been forced to pull out of his main event match with Rob Van Dam scheduled for tonight’s TNA Hardcore Justice pay-per-view.

Fanhouse.com reached Lynn, who commented on the disappointment of having to miss tonight’s match.

“I’ve been looking forward to this match for years and finally thought it was going to happen” Lynn said.

Lynn and Rob Van Dam had several classic matches on ECW pay-per-views in the late 90s that included several “Match of the Year” candidates and set the standard for PPV main events at the time.

“Unfortunately, I got hurt. I’m really disappointed and hopefully it will happen in the future.”

Hardcore Justice PPV Main Event Between RVD & Lynn Cancelled

Tomorrow night’s TNA HardCORE Justice pay-per-view main event between Rob Van Dam and Jerry Lynn will not take place as advertised. Multiple sources indicate Lynn has been forced to pull out of the event due to a back injury.

TNA Wrestling has yet to confirm the cancellation, so a new main event has not been announced.
