Jerry Springer Describes His New WWE Network Show, “WWE: Too Hot For TV”

Famous talk show host Jerry Springer recently spoke to the folks at Business Insider about his new “WWE Too Hot For TV” show, which is scheduled to premiere on the WWE Network this Monday night.

Springer mentioned during the interview that his show will be like The Soup for pro wrestling and will feature him showcasing and talking about outrageous and classic clips from WWE’s vast archives.

“The best parallel I can draw is that show ‘Talk Soup,’ which has been on for years,” said Springer. “I guess the only question I had is: why did it take us so long to think about that because it’s so obvious? It’s been so much entertainment for so many years. It’s a natural fit.”

Springer concluded, “Truth is, our audiences overlap. They’re the same demographic. So yeah, it was easy to say ‘yes’ to.”

Jerry Springer Comments On His Leg Injury From RAW, The Bella Twins & More

Jerry Springer tweeted the following after his appearance on Monday’s RAW:

  • MMANEWS.COM: Sexy UFC Ring Girl Photos, Jim Ross/MMA Update & MORE!
  • Jerry Springer Injured At RAW?, Photo Of He & Vince McMahon Backstage

Following Monday’s “season premiere” of RAW, WWE is claiming that legendary talk show host Jerry Springer was injured during his segment with The Bella Twins.

According to WWE, Springer suffered bruised ribs and a twisted ankle. He was stretchered out of the ring after his appearance and seemed a bit embarrassed.

After the show, the official WWE website caught up with Springer for his “Final Thought,” a segment that he has done on his own talk show for years. You can check that video out at WWE.com.

Speaking of Springer, below is a photo of he and Vince McMahon backstage at last night’s show.

  • MMANEWS.COM: Sexy UFC Ring Girl Photos, Jim Ross/MMA Update & MORE!
  • Jim Ross Blog: RAW Thoughts For Tonight, Ray Rice Controversy, Vince Russo & More

The following are highlights of the latest Jim Ross blog:

On his Ross Report podcast this week: “THIS Tuesday night at 9 pm eastern my guest is former WWE, WCW and TNA creative guru Vince Russo @pyroballyhoo. This is one of the most eagerly anticipated Podcasts we have produced and I think that you will be very interested in what Vince has to say about his long albeit controversial career.”

On the Ray Rice situation: “This Ray Rice fiasco in Baltimore is simply horrible. I know this isn’t wrestling related but it’s huge news and it shouldn’t be because a man should never strike a woman.”

On tonight’s RAW: “Baltimore is the site of Monday Night RAW featuring Jerry Springer in a segment with the Bella twins. That’s a far cry from Sammartino vs Billy Graham, the Great American Bash headliners, and yours truly passing kidney stone particles during a PPV featuring an ill advised Scaffold Match.”

  • Jerry Springer Talks About Tonight’s RAW, What He Expects, The Bella Twins & More

The following are highlights of a new E! Online interview with Jerry Springer:

On the issues surrounding The Bella Twins: “I think it’s something deeper. Because if you’re twin sisters, you wouldn’t let something like the Stephanie McMahon situation break you up. I mean, you’ve had a life together. There’s probably some resentment on one by the other and so I think there’s a deeper issue there. This is either the straw that broke the camel’s back or it’s the thing that set it off. Two twins that get along wouldn’t let that break them up—you have that whole blood is thicker than water argument. But my guess is the intensity of the relationship in either direction, the love or the hate, is gonna be more severe if you’re twins.”

On what he expects from tonight’s RAW with The Bella Twins: “I don’t know that anything works and I don’t have any preconceived notion. I think the idea is that once I’m there in the environment with them and watching how they react or what concerns them, then hopefully something comes to mind, but if one of them is determined to keep the fight going, they’re not going to be talked out of it. You just have to see if there is a common ground that would make them think it’s better to be back together again as twins and have each other’s back, but if they don’t feel that, it’s not gonna happen and there will be chaos.”

On which Bella Twin he prefers: “Assuming that I don’t want to be hurt, I won’t answer that question. Either of them could beat me up and let’s be honest, I’m a 70-year-old man. Who’s not going to beat me up? I just hope everyone has the sense not to hurt me.”

  • Video: WWE RAW Season Premiere Preview

WWE sent in this video hyping Monday’s “season premiere” of RAW featuring Jerry Springer.

Jim Ross Blog: Night Of Champions Thoughts, Jerry Springer, Michael Sam, Announcing

The following are highlights from the latest Jim Ross blog:

On WWE Night Of Champions: “WWE’s Night of Champions PPV in a few weeks headlined by Lesnar vs Cena in the rubber match for the WWE title is by far the strongest match on the card which provides Sheamus vs. Cesaro US Title bout and/or Ziggler vs. Miz IC Title bout a dark horse chance to over achieve what is expected of them and turn heads. Their only enemy is to be saddled with not enough time to tell a viable story.”

On Jerry Springer and Michael Sam: “So, Michael Sam is out and Jerry Springer is in next week on RAW. Nice payday and exposure for the 70 year old talk show host who actually tapes his TV show in Stamford, Ct. Unfortunately some fans will ‘damn’ this segment before it even airs which isn’t fair but it’s reality.”

On pro wrestling announcing: “As I said on a recent Ross Report Podcast, I’m of the mindset that WWE would serve its self well if they had separate announce teams for RAW and Smackdown. I’ve expressed this sentiment for months. I’m reluctant to talk announcing because it’s often times thought that I’m angling for work which is laughably ridiculous. It’s just my opinion that WWE shows need different sound tracks to give each program some exclusive identity. I’d have @MichaelCole anchor the flagship RAW broadcast with @JCLayfield and @JerryLawler and utilize @WWETomPhillips to anchor Smackdown perhaps with @ReneeYoungWWE before another network nabs her. Adding a third member of the Smackdown crew would be fine too as it’s good to experiment to see where the chemistry exists.”

“Again, I honestly say that @MichaelCole is much better suited to navigate today’s sports entertainment presentation than I ever was. I was a wrestling play by play guy of which there’s little demand for these days on the biggest stages. Times change and it’s challenging for some WWE broadcasts to sound more like an infomercial than an entertaining, ‘sporting’ event with so many agendas and masters to serve.”

“I sincerely wish all the talents broadcasting wrestling in today’s world the best because those days were the best of my life within the wrestling biz but, again, I will reiterate that I have no desire to re-engage. Just too many new, irons in the fire. Nonetheless, someone will turn what I’ve said here into some sort of covert message or accuse me of not being truthful but don’t waste too much of your time on that concept and finish your homework or jump back on the internet.”

  • Backstage News On WWE’s Deal With Jerry Springer & RAW’s “Season Premiere”

The deal for Jerry Springer to appear on next Monday’s edition of WWE RAW reportedly came at the last minute. The fact that it wasn’t mentioned during the WWE Main Event broadcast on Tuesday night, even though WWE had announced it on their website before the show aired, points to the fact that the Springer deal was likely done at some point in the past day or so.

Additionally, WWE decided to push next week’s RAW as the “season premiere” episode, so for the rest of the week leading up to Monday, expect that angle to be promoted by WWE as well.

As noted, with the NFL’s Monday Night Football returning against RAW next Monday night, WWE has tried everything from inviting Michael Sam to the show, to booking Jerry Springer, to announcing two SummerSlam rematches, one of which is in a steel cage, all to try and combat the expected drop in ratings.
