New Details On Sin Cara’s Wellness Violation, Punk On The Radio

— Regarding Sin Cara’s suspension from WWE for violating the company’s Wellness policy, reports are now coming out that Sin Cara’s violation came back on June 20th – almost a month ago. WWE Spokesperson Robert Zimmerman was contacted at the time by Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com and responded with:

“As per our Talent Wellness Program policy if there is a violation the company will make the necessary announcement.”

That announcement was delayed until today.

There was a lot of heat on Sin Cara for failing the test, as he had been promoted heavily as Triple H’s first major international hire in his new position. It’s unknown whether he was working unpaid, which the company used to do while they wrote suspended workers out, or whether he be paid royalties for his appearance at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view.

As noted earlier, it’s possible they may not bring him back.

— During today’s BS Report hosted by ESPN’s Bill Simmons, he and Rob Stone were discussing the Money in the Bank PPV. Bill announced that CM Punk has been booked for their show later this week. We’ll keep you posted when we get the official date.

The third season will also feature his son Tyrel as a reporter, as well as Oliver Stone’s son Shawn.

Jesse Ventura Sues TSA Over Airport Body Scans

WWE Hall of Famer and former Governor of Minnesota Jesse Ventura has filed a federal lawsuit against the Department of Homeland Security and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) over the extra-friendly body searches that have been taking place at airports across the United States. Ventura argues that the searches violate his Fourth Amendment rights, which which guards against unreasonable searches and seizures when the searched party has a “reasonable expectation of privacy.”

Here’s the full story from the Associated Press:

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) – Former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura sued the Department of Homeland Security and the Transportation Security Administration on Monday, alleging full-body scans and pat-downs at airport checkpoints violate his right to be free from unreasonable searches and seizures.

Ventura is asking a federal judge in Minnesota to issue an injunction ordering officials to stop subjecting him to “warrantless and suspicionless” scans and body searches.

The lawsuit, which also names Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and TSA Administrator John Pistole as defendants, argues the searches are “unwarranted and unreasonable intrusions on Governor Ventura’s personal privacy and dignity . and are a justifiable cause for him to be concerned for his personal health and well-being.”

According to the lawsuit, Ventura received a hip replacement in 2008, and since then, his titanium implant has set off metal detectors at airport security checkpoints. The lawsuit said that prior to last November officials had used a non-invasive hand-held wand to scan his body as a secondary security measure.

But when Ventura set off the metal detector in November, he was instead subjected to a body pat-down and was not given the option of a scan with a hand-held wand or an exemption for being a frequent traveler, the lawsuit said.

The lawsuit said the pat-down “exposed him to humiliation and degradation through unwanted touching, gripping and rubbing of the intimate areas of his body.”

It claims that under TSA’s policy, Ventura will be required to either go through a full-body scanner or submit to a pat-down every time he travels because he will always set off the metal detector.

Ventura, who was Minnesota governor from 1999 through 2002 and is now the host of the television program “Conspiracy Theory,” did not immediately return a phone message seeking comment.

Napolitano said in December that the new technology and the pat-downs were “objectively safer for our traveling public.”

The U.S. Attorney’s Office did not immediately return an e-mail message seeking comment Monday.

The TSA’s website says there are nearly 500 full-body scanners in use at 78 airports. The scanners show a traveler’s physical contours on a computer screen that’s viewed in a private room. Faces aren’t shown, and the person’s identity is supposedly not known to the screener reviewing the images.

Not all travelers are selected to go through the scanners, but the TSA requires people who decline to submit to pat-downs that include checks of the inside of their thighs and buttocks.

“I don’t vote for Democrats or Republicans. If she ran as an independent she could possibly get my endorsement, but I refuse.”

“Jesse Ventura’s Conspiracy Theory” Returns 10/5

TruTV sent out the following press release today announcing the season 2 debut of “Jesse Ventura’s Conspiracy Theory” on 10/15.

Jesse Ventura is Back on the Case in truTV’s Hit Series Conspiracy Theory with Jesse Ventura

NEW YORK, Sept. 27 /– Last year, Jesse Ventura hit the road to uncover plots and schemes of the powerful. Now he’s back for a new set of in-depth, edgy investigations in the second season of truTV’s hit series CONSPIRACY THEORY WITH JESSE VENTURA, premiering Friday, Oct. 15, at 10 p.m. (ET/PT).

Ventura has taken on some of the most dangerous missions in the world as a Navy Seal. He’s body-slammed human giants in the ring as a WWE superstar. He even conquered the political machine as governor of Minnesota. Ventura, who has a reputation as a rebel and free-thinker, is passionate about discovering the truth. Following up on CONSPIRACY THEORY’s dynamic first season, Ventura will once again plunge viewers into a world of secret meetings, midnight surveillance, shifty characters and dark forces.

This season, CONSPIRACY THEORY WITH JESSE VENTURA will set out to examine such topics as the Kennedy assassination, the Plum Island Research Center off Long Island, a secret billionaire’s club with the power to manipulate markets, government internment camps and the granddaddy secret of them all, Area 51. Throughout his investigations, Ventura makes it his mission to ask questions and discover the truth, no matter where it leads. He is not about to take answers at face value without solid evidence, especially if those responses come from the very people he’s investigating.

CONSPIRACY THEORY WITH JESSE VENTURA premiered in December 2009 with more than 1.6 million viewers, breaking the record for truTV’s largest audience for a new series launch at the time. The series is executive-produced by Ventura; A. Smith & Co.’s Arthur Smith, Kent Weed and Frank Sinton; B2 Entertainment’s Michael Braverman and Barry Bloom; and Burt Kearns. For truTV, Robyn Hutt is the executive in charge of production, and Jon Crowley serves as executive producer.

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross updated his blog, which you can (and should) read in its entirety at JRsBarBQ.com. Some highlights:

Responding to a jackass fan who questioned him for not being at Monday’s Raw: “He essentially accused me of having no passion for the product and basically backing up to the pay window as a reason for not driving the 5-6 hour round trip from Norman to Dallas to hang around the locker room area and ‘see the boys.’ I forgot to let ‘Logan’ know that I have a doctor’s appointment with a specialist on Monday that I was lucky to be able to be able to secure. Yes, Logan, I too, wish that I did not have any health issues to deal with and that I could make the trip to Dallas to hang out. But my health issues will be behind me soon enough I assure one and all but for now they are what they are. Oh, yeah…I’m feeling better every day.”

Jesse Ventura: “Logan also said he spend 5, whole minutes with Jesse Ventura once upon a time and that Ventura told thim that ‘Jim Ross was selfish and only cared about himself.’ That must be accurate because it was uttered by the former Governor of Minnesota who’s NEVER been known to embellish a story or ‘break his arm patting himself on the back’ as Gorilla Monsoon often said about Jesse. For the record, in the politically volatile world of pro wrestling if one doesn’t look out for one’s self then one can easily be taken advantage of and kicked to the curb for a variety of reasons or for no reasons. So, perhaps at the end of the day many of the ‘survivors’ within pro wrestling have to be a little selfish to make it long term. I am indeed a survivor.”

TNA’s broadcast team: “Finally, it was also suggested that if I hated travel so much that I go to work for TNA because of their reduced schedule. Best I can tell TNA either produces TV or they do voice overs every week Plus, and more importantly, TNA has an announce team that I happen to feel are very competent. I appreciate everyone’s career advise but I think I can handle this one not to mention that no one knows what’s going to happen at the end of the day.”

Big Changes Coming to SmackDown, WWE Responds To Ventura

— Earlier this week, WWE Hall of Famer Jesse Ventura appeared on ESPN radio and criticized World Wrestling Entertainment for their longtime company policy of classifying wrestlers as “independent contractors” and not employees. Ventura acknowledged that he had participated in a WWE event just a week ago when he hosted Raw, but says the wrestlers are treated unfairly and denied benefits because of WWE’s refusal to acknowledge them as employees.

WWE spokesperson Robert Mitchell has responded to Ventura’s remarks with some pretty sharp words of his own. Mitchell tells the Hartford Courant: “We find it highly hypocritical that Jesse had no problem coming on Monday Night Raw last week to promote his new project or was happy to be paid all those years by the WWE as a performer. He is just looking to garner additional press for his fledgling show, appropriately entitled ‘Conspiracy Theory.'”

— It’s been reported this week that major changes are coming to WWE in the early months of 2010, with the ECW brand likely being shut down. According to a report on PWInsider.com, WWE also has big changes in store for the SmackDown brand. The feeling is that Raw has enhanced its identity with the Guest Host concept and SmackDown needs something of its own to stand out. While nothing official has been decided on yet, it’s believed that any big changes will take place after year ends.

JR Blog: Jesse Ventura, Sheamus’ Push, The Rock

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has updated his blog, which you can read in its entirety at JRsBarBQ.com. Here’s what Ross said about:

Jesse Ventura Hosting Raw: “Jesse Ventura did an excellent job as guest general manager … Jesse looked good, had his usual distinctive, great delivery and, for me, created an interest in checking out his new “Conspiracy Theory” program that debuts soon on truTV. Ventura and McMahon was a fun trip down memory lane and they were, perhaps, the 2nd best broadcast team to appear on Monday Night Raw in a good while as in the summer of ’08. Just one man’s totally biased opinion. I would have been happy to have flown in and produced the two wrestling legends.”

Sheamus’ Push: “Sheamus has found himself in a great spot to help begin building his long term foundation in WWE. I read where some pundits felt the incident between the young Irishman and John Cena was “flat.” I disagree. Obviously, the crowd sitting in their seats over three hours is challenging, has an influence but isn’t the real reason. However, let’s all remember that Sheamus hasn’t been on Raw in any significant role for, what, a month, 5 weeks? Sheamus has not even been in a long term personal issue with a main event, Raw wrestler yet…until now. Bottom line is that Sheamus’ persona is still evolving and the next two weeks and then TLC is highly important to Sheamus’ development. At worst, the WWE has made a new, fresh main event for a PPV and from where I sit that is a good thing.”

The Rock Saying He’d Work With WWE Again: “I would bet a 6 Pak Challenge and throw in a case of BBQ Sauce that those remarks don’t mean that Dwayne is thinking about wrestling again. I do not see that occurring but his appearances could mean an unlimited number of other things that don’t include putting on the tights. Time will tell.”
