Video: Joey Ryan On His Penis Spot In A Match Going Viral, Jim Cornette Calling Him Gay

Joey Ryan recently spoke with AfterBuzz TV’s Christian Rosenberg for a lengthy interview about a number of topics, including his infamous penis spot during a match, his issues with Jim Cornette calling him gay and more. Below are some of the highlights from the interview, which you can watch in full above.

On his famous penis spot during a match (as seen in the video below):

“Someone sent me a link to the match and I was watching it, and rarely do I pop for my own stuff or ‘oh I could’ve done that better/this better’, but I was watching it and I genuinely saw that part and it kinda made me laugh. I was like ‘alright that’s pretty ridiculous’. So I cut that 27 seconds out and I threw it up on Twitter like ‘eh let’s see how it goes’ and people really took to it.”

On his “Twitter War” with Jim Cornette:

“I probably shouldn’t have replied to Jim Cornette. It doesn’t bother me when people aren’t fans of my work cause I get that not everyone likes comedy, not everyone likes the character stuff not everyone likes every wrestler, that’s the fact of life. But I don’t care if you don’t like my wrestling, but when you try to throw ‘gay’ as an insult to me, I just feel like homophobia sets wrestling back far more than any comedy spot. So it just irked me a little bit that he insinuated that I was gay because I did this or that I enjoyed him grabbing me or whatever it was and he tried to use gay as an insult and I just feel like that is…that doesn’t belong anywhere in the world. Much less wrestling.”

For those who haven’t seen it yet, below is a video of Joey Ryan’s infamous “penis spot” referenced in the above interview that he performed during a match.

  • Update On When Paul Heyman Will Return To WWE, Puerto Rican Wrestler/WWE

    – Puerto Rican wrestler Sebastian Guerra, who is a 21 year old, 6-foot-5 and 285-pound independent worker, was at the same WWE tryout camp that included Davey Richards, Eddie Edwards, Joey Ryan and several others a few weeks ago. WWE apparently wants Guerra to gain additional experience and learn the English language better before doing something with him. As a result, Guerra is expected to head to Ohio Valley Wrestling for further training and to attempt to improve his English by living there.

    – Current word is that Paul Heyman is not expected back on WWE television for several more weeks. As previously reported, Heyman is expected to be brought back when Brock Lesnar makes his television return to the company.

  • Former TNA Knockout Speaks On Lesbian Storyline, Her Weight Gain & More

The following are highlights from a recent Ring Belles Online interview with former TNA Knockout Taeler Hendrix:

On the TNA Gut Check segment and being mad at Joey Ryan: “It was all real – that was my real reaction, and nobody told me about Joey Ryan either [who hopped the railing and demanded another Gut Check after losing the previous one]… I was really mad at him because I didn’t know that was going to happen. He was ruining my moment – I didn’t know if I was going to be signed and this could be my last moment on television.”

On not getting direction on how to develop for a potential call-up to television: “I was told one thing, then I was told something else and something else, and Taryn Terrell was signed and I was like, ‘well, I’m here, I could have been the ref.’ At the time it was very discouraging… I didn’t know if I had to change my look or change the way I wrestled.”

On her weight gain: “Health is more important. I would rather be beautiful and healthy. I was 108 pounds and for someone who’s 5’7”, it probably wasn’t healthy.”

On her lesbian storyline with Heidi Lovelace in Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW): “If it’s controversial, I want in. Bette Davis is my role model and would take the most controversial roles in Hollywood that they would not want women to play. She would play them and won Oscars for them. That’s what I want to do, so it wasn’t weird for me at all playing a same-sex love storyline. Plus, we were on the Christian Network and sponsored by Papa John’s which is a family company. It was very interesting to see how far we could play it and how much we could do.”

On the origins of her heel character in OVW: “The character I portray now is emulating a girl who bullied me from elementary school. I take her and remember how I felt when she cut my hair, put gum on my feet and when I got jumped. When I decided to take this Taeler Hendrix character and run with her I drew a lot of inspiration from things like Pretty Little Liars.”

  • Fitness Model Ashley Sebera Signs With WWE (Photos)

Ashley Sebera, a fitness model who recognizes herself as a pro athlete for International Federation of BodyBuilding & Fitness, has joined WWE. Sebera revealed on Twitter that she began training at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida on Monday.

Sebera is the eighth female with a non-wrestling background to join WWE this year, following Total Divas stars Eva Marie and JoJo, Brittany Fetkin (a/k/a Devin Taylor), C.J. Perry (a/k/a Lana), Erika Hammond (a/k/a Veronica Lane), Leah Van Dale and Sarah Backman.

Here is her tweet announcing that she’s starting to train with WWE:

More Details On Talent Recently Signed By WWE, Another Edwards/Richards Update

In addition to Leah Van Dale, the former New England Patriots and Los Angeles Lakers cheerleader and daughter of former WWE wrestler Paul Van Dale, signing a developmental deal with WWE as we reported earlier today, WWE has also signed Dylan Mile.

Mile is a 25-year-old wrestler from Colorado who recently participated in a tryout at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. Mile is 6’3” and 285 pounds. Apparently Mile impressed WWE trainers with his agility, including an impressive 37-inch vertical leap.

The signing of Dale and Mile brings up the question as to what is going to happen with Joey Ryan, Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards, all of whom recently participated in a WWE tryout at the Performance Center as well. The latter two are former Ring Of Honor World Champions, neither of which are contractually obligated to the promotion. This would allow both guys to be signed by WWE if the company had interest in them. With WWE signing the aforementioned two talents, one wonders if they have any interest in the former ROH stars.

Joey Ryan Discusses His Release From TNA, Reveals The Gut Check Process, Teaming With Matt Morgan

Joey Ryan spoke to ITRLive concerning his time in TNA and subsequent release from the organization last week. Below is an extensive recap:

How he got into TNA: “Through David Lagana. I worked with David Lagana in a few places actually Ring of Honor, NWA Hollywood and then he booked me for Ring Ka King in India. Then he got hired to be a writer in TNA and they were looking for guys. He suggested me to Al Snow and Al Snow saw footage of me and decided to make me a GutCheck contestant.”

“It kind of happened quickly. They called me up and Al Snow asked if I would be interested and I said yes. He said, “Alright, I’ll see you next week”. There wasn’t anything I had to sit on really.”

On TNA Gut Check: “They literally don’t tell you anything. I was the second ever guy to do GutCheck. The first GutCheck was Alex Silva. There was that whole thing where Ric Flair changed his decision on Alex Silva. You see, I don’t know how much of that is really a shoot or not. I think they brought me in particularly to be a “No” because they just needed somebody from the indys to make this seem more legitimate and told “no.” I think that was a work on their part.

“I think when I wrestled and I had a good match against Austin Aries, thank God I had to wrestle Austin Aries, then I came in and did my promos and stuff like that, even before I was in front of the judges, they weren’t telling me I was going to get a “No”, but I had a few people telling me things. Like Eric Bischoff and Hulk Hogan came up to me and said, “Hey, we like your look, we think you are good. No matter what happens out there, we want to do something with you hopefully down the line.” They were hinting that I was going to get a “No” vote.

“I was already going in there portraying a heel character so I knew going into this that I wasn’t just going to go out there, be told “No” and walk away with my tail between my legs. I’m going to be adamant about it. I was going to be myself, a guy who has been told “No” for the last 12 years by major companies.

“After I did that promo, there was talk of me going around. They were saying to themselves, “How can we use this guy?” Before that, there was nothing planned for me.”

Backstage following the Gut Check segment: “Well I don’t know if they do this anymore but there were cameras all over the place. Everyone was still filming me. I had an argument with Al Snow in the back. Was it a worked shoot? I don’t know. He was yelling at me, I thought it was pretty intense. I knew cameras were on too so I wasn’t sure.

“Once the cameras cut, Eric Bischoff approached me and told me, “That was incredible! That’s what the segment should be! That’s what live TV is all about!” He has a producer’s mind. He was the one who came up to me and was the most vocal about it all.”

On Taz backstage following the Gut Check: “Taz is kind of a hard-ass. I think he knew but I don’t think he liked me right off the bat because of that. He’s a prideful person, he is very proud of his wrestling and I was bad-mouthing his wrestling. I think he got to the point where he realized that I was doing anything I could to get a job.”

On signing with TNA: “I actually got a call from Bruce Prichard the next day saying, “We got a contract for you”. I signed it and faxed it back to them. At that point, I don’t really know if they knew where the storyline was going to go at that point. They just wanted to capitalize on any hype that happened.

On teaming With Matt Morgan: “Don’t know, it was a little hard to pull off because Matt is this unstoppable monster. I’m just this small guy. Matt would just look stupid if I just keep costing him all of these wins. I don’t think it went the way they planned it. I don’t know if this didn’t go the way they planned or if they just didn’t think about how long they could keep this up. It just gets to the point where you think, how long is Matt going to stick with this guy that isn’t winning.

“We were tagging against Chavo and Hernandez. I think they used me as a fall guy to keep Matt Morgan protected.”

On the negative rumors about TNA contracts: “I had a great contract. I got a monthly salary and a bonus whenever I did wrestle. So yeah, I had a great contract. They said, “Hey, I want to pay you” and I said, “Great, I like getting paid.”

On his release from TNA: “I knew there had been some office cuts and to be honest, I knew after the Matt Morgan stuff as they used me so sparingly. I think I did a PPV match that was unannounced. I did the referee stuff with the Knockouts. Then I did the random X-division 3-way match so. When I wasn’t being used, I was at home collecting paychecks, so I kind of knew that this was too good to be true. They are paying me to sit at home for months now.

“Part of me said, I know Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff like me so there’s some pull there so maybe they are waiting to come up with something for me. I got the hint myself when I was just sitting at home getting paid.”

On being notified of his release: “Al Snow called me and said “This isn’t anything against you or your work, this is just budget cuts”. I know they are on the road now and that’s much more expensive. I think they are just trying to make the company as profitable as possible.

“It was a decision they had to make. They had to cut guys without affecting the current storylines. I’m not bitter about it. I understand why. I don’t have anything bad to say about anyone there. It’s just a business thing.”

Here’s the 6th and final part:

    * Big News On The Surprises Planned For The 1,000th Episode of RAW

TNA Working With Chikara, Video Of Joey Ryan’s Impact Invasion

    — On Thursday’s Impact Wrestling, the returning Sunjay Dutt defeated masked wrestler Rubix in the opening round of the TNA X Division Championship tournament. As previously reported, Rubix is independent wrestler Ed McGuckin, who wrestles for Chikara and has previously worked for ROH, CZW and Full Impact Pro.

According to a report at PWInsider.com, Rubix won’t be the only Chikara wrestler headed to TNA. There was buzz backstage at Thursday’s Impact that TNA has some sort of working relationship with Chikara and more wrestlers from Chikara are expected to appear on TNA television in the coming weeks and months.

    — TNA Gutcheck reject Joey Ryan “invaded” Thursday’s Impact Wrestling and has posted a video to Youtube documenting his anti-TNA crusade.

Ryan says the fans are clamoring for him and he was simply giving the fans what they want by showing up at Impact to confront Taz. He says he doesn’t want a job, he doesn’t want some “sh*t Alex Silva developmental contract” and have to move to Louisville, Kentucky (location of OVW/TNA developmental) and make $300 – he wants TNA to do the right thing and give him a talent contract.

“This about what’s right and what’s wrong. What’s wrong is you trying to dictate what the fans see … It’s your responsibility to give [the fans] what they want”

Ric Flair Shoots & Causes TNA To Hire Alex Silva, Joey Ryan Video

    – Alex Silva, the first TNA Gutcheck contestant to earn a contract, is currently training at Ohio Valley Wrestling, TNA’s developmental territory. The reason he has not been back on television since earning the contract is because he was not originally scripted to win.

Enter Ric Flair. Originally, both Bruce Prichard and Flair were supposed to vote No while Al Snow would have been the only judge to vote Yes. Flair was so impressed with Silva’s promo that he broke from the script during the segment and voted Yes.

Prichard, who was also impressed by Silva but caught off guard by Flair’s unforeseen move, had to improvise and also changed his vote to Yes.

TNA had the option of re-filming the segment but it would have looked bad in front of the crowd so they just decided to hire him.

Another lesson than when you’re the Nature Boy – WOOOOOOOOOOOOO – you do whatever the hell you damn well please.

    – After getting denied a TNA contract during the Gutcheck segment of last week’s Impact Wrestling, independent worker Joey Ryan has resurfaced online with the following YouTube video:

Hogan Addresses James & Ryan’s TNA Status, How Old Is Storm?

    – A segment involving the TNA Knockouts and new authority figure Brooke Hogan was cut from Thursday’s live Impact Wrestling show. Mickie James acknowledged the change in plans on Twitter, writing:

“I am so sorry, gang. Seems I have lied. I assure you not purposely! I will not be on the show tonight. Watching it live backstage. Enjoy!”

Hulk Hogan addressed James’ status with the organization in response to a follower complaining that Hogan would not put her on television with him in charge. He wrote:

“Sorry u feel that way but Dixie has a whole battle plan laid out for Mickie.”

Angelina Love, Gail Kim, Madison Rayne, ODB, Rosita, Tara and Velvet Sky were also backstage but not used on the live show.

Hogan also commented on Gut Check judges not offering Joey Ryan a TNA Wrestling contract. He wrote: “Working on the Ryan situation now.”

Joey Ryan Blasts TNA & Tells John Laurinaitis To Contact Him

    – James Storm turns 35 years old Friday. He appeared in a taped segment on Thursday’s Impact Wrestling and would not say whether he’s returning to the ring.

Dixie’s TNA HOF Announcement, Joey Ryan Blasts TNA & More

    – Dixie Carter’s announcement about the TNA Hall of Fame was a surprise to virtually everyone in the back. No word yet on who the first inductee will be, but Jeff Jarrett seems like a natural choice.

    – The locker room was buzzing backstage at Impact over TNA’s lawsuit against WWE, with a lot of negative feelings towards Brian Wittenstein for leaking sensitive company information to WWE.

    – Indy wrestler Joey Ryan got a huge pop from the locker room when he stood up to Taz during the Gutcheck segment. People were shocked at how well Taz handled the confrontation, since he’s known to have somewhat of a temper. After Bruce Prichard voted ‘No’ and Al Snow voted ‘Yes,’ Taz was the deciding vote that led to Ryan not getting hired by TNA. Later in the broadcast, Taz acknowledged on commentary that Ryan has a great gimmick, but is not physically ready to be a TNA superstar.

Joey Ryan tweeted the following about getting rejected:

“What a joke. @IMPACTWRESTLING is pathetic. I’m not good enough for your company? C’mon @TNADixie really? You make me laugh! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Don’t bring me in just for your NO agenda. It’s not my fault that Flair went into business for himself so why am I being punished?! Pritchard, @TheRealAlSnow & @OfficialTaz know that a NO is ridiculous. They know I’m money. I dare Tazz to say something to my face now. Somebody tell Johnny Ace he can reach me at joeyryan@hotmail.com – I know he’s not stupid enough to turn down money.”
