John Cena Receives Backlash for Peacemaker Tweet

John Cena is receiving backlash on social media for a tweet that seemingly references Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The entire world is watching as Russian Vladamir Putin leads his army into its sovereign neighbor. Putin has called the Russian offensive a “peacekeeping” mission, which prompted Cena to reference his Peacemaker super hero character.

John Cena says he wishes he could summon the powers of a real life Peacemaker to end the bloody conflict.

John Cena’s tweet is getting a lot of negative reactions. Some people are referencing an incident from last year when John Cena apologized to China for referencing Taiwan as an independent country while promoting his Suicide Squad movie.

John Cena’s HBO show The Peacemaker, a spinoff from his character in The Suicide Squad, has been a hit with viewers and critics.

The Peacemaker was recently renewed for a second season.

  • Bianca Belair Reveals Advice John Cena Gave Her After SummerSlam

Bianca Belair Reveals Advice John Cena Gave Her After SummerSlam

Bianca Belair received some advice from John Cena after her 2021 SummerSlam match ended in just 26 seconds.

Belair went one-on-one with Becky Lynch to the surprise of many. Belair was initially set to put the SmackDown Women’s Championship on the line against Sasha Banks. Sasha was forced off the card and Becky served as her replacement.

Becky cheap-shotted Belair, kickstarting her heel run. Becky ended up scoring the pinfall in under 30 seconds.

    Advice From A Legend

During an interview with talkSPORT, Bianca Belair detailed the advice John Cena gave her following the short match.

“I really got to talk with John Cena a lot after the 26 seconds moment at SummerSlam. He really just gave me a lot of great advice and keep the right perspective of everything.

“Basically the gist of what he said was ‘moments like this you can really use to propel you. You see how much the fans really get behind you.’ For me, out of that, I was able to look at the longer picture, the bigger picture and hopefully one day it’ll come back full circle, who knows.

“But for me, I took it as you can use this as an opportunity to show who you are without that title. I’m still the EST of WWE and I’m still going to go out there and show out every single time I step in the ring and you really get to see who’s behind you.

“Ironically, I think that moment really propelled me and made me a bigger star.”

Belair recently won the women’s Elimination Chamber match, granting her a shot at the Raw Women’s Championship at WrestleMania. This means Belair will have one last chance to get revenge on “Big Time Becks.”

  • Miro Reveals What John Cena Taught Him During Their Time In WWE

Miro Reveals What John Cena Taught Him During Their Time In WWE

Miro learned quite a bit from John Cena during his run in WWE.

AEW star Miro competed as Rusev when he worked under the WWE banner. He was signed to FCW in 2010 and made his main roster debut in 2014. While Miro captured the United States Title three times, many felt he wasn’t utilized properly long-term and he was released from the promotion in 2020.

    Learning From Doctor Of Thuganomics

During an appearance on The Kurt Angle Show, Miro went in-depth on being able to pick John Cena’s brain on how to thrive in the wrestling business.

“Oh man, John is the best. John is absolutely the best. I learned so much from him even to this day. Once again, he’s such a teacher.

“He’s so good and he’s one of those guys, ‘What’s your four best moves?’ That’s what I learned from him that I utilize to this day. He asks you that not because — He just wants to highlight you in the best spots, in the best lighting. So, he’s just trying to understand in his head where he’s gonna put these four best moves.

“I learned that, I learned psychology of a match a lot more. I learned how to control a match because beating up John for 10 minutes, 15 minutes a night the whole time what he’s doing is he’s [talking].

“All I’m doing is just listening and then after the match, he’s telling me why we did this. ‘You hear the crowd was here? We’re trying to get it there, that’s why we did this.’ This whole thing, I found out, it’s all about psychology.”

Miro also said that another key piece of advice Cena gave him was to listen to the crowd when every show starts to get a feel of who he is working in front of.

Nowadays, Cena is more focused on Hollywood but he still makes the trip back to the squared circle when he can. As for Miro, he works for AEW where he is a former TNT Champion.

  • Chris Masters Shares Theory On Why John Cena Had Beef With Him

Chris Masters Shares Theory On Why John Cena Had Beef With Him

Chris Masters believes he knows why John Cena didn’t take too kindly to him.

At one time, it appeared WWE strapped a rocketship to Masters’ back. He was given a push on WWE TV, riding an undefeated streak. WWE put over his Master Lock finisher as a move that was nearly impossible to get out of.

After being around the main event scene for a brief time, Masters’ soon found himself demoted. He violated WWE’s Substance Abuse and Drug Testing Policy twice and never regained success.

    Beef With Cena Explained?

Reports have surfaced over the years claiming that John Cena, one of WWE’s biggest stars, never took a liking to Chris Masters. It’s a report that Masters himself has confirmed.

Appearing on Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling, Masters shared his theory on why he and Cena never clicked (h/t 411 Mania).

“I just don’t think John was too big on working with me at the time. I think it was just a little more difficult for us to have good matches with each other. I think it was just that Shawn was easy to have matches with, but Shawn had so much experience too.

“With Cena and me, we never got a good rhythm in terms of our working. That was probably my fault, but it’s hard to say for sure. I just remember that there were some times where Cena had voiced displeasure in my work.

“It was difficult because I was working with HBK and Cena. Shawn even stuck up for me a few times saying that he didn’t have any problem working with me, and he said it out loud, which was appreciated. It’s just, I think that I had some issues too, around that time.

“So maybe that contributed to some of that, who knows for sure, but for whatever reason, I just felt like Cena just didn’t take too much pleasure working with me and maybe he felt like I didn’t give him enough of a chance, so I don’t know. I don’t know the specifics. It’s been such a long time.”

These days, Cena is a Hollywood star. He’s a shoo-in to become a WWE Hall of Famer in the future.

Masters was never able to become a breakthrough star in the industry after his WWE run. He has done some work for NWA more recently, however.

  • Freddie Prinze Jr. Reveals Confrontation With John Cena In WWE

Freddie Prinze Jr. Reveals Confrontation With John Cena In WWE

Freddie Prinze Jr. and John Cena didn’t exactly have a rosy relationship in WWE.

Prinze entered the WWE from the world of Hollywood. He worked behind the scenes in creative. Oftentimes, you’ll hear stories about veterans not taking too kindly to writers in WWE who have film experience.

Prinze found out quickly that he wasn’t going to be an exception.

Freddie Prinze Jr. & John Cena Exchange Words

Taking to his Wrestling With Freddie podcast, Freddy Prinze Jr. recalled the time when John Cena interrupted his acting class.

“I was working these scenes with the talent and I think it was Ryder and Hawkins and they were doing a scene from Bad Boys with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, which was making me laugh before they even started just to see these two guys do it and they actually did really well with the scene.

“In the middle of this class, this scene, John just swings open the door, grabs a folding chair that we were all sitting in, sits it down in between Hawkins and Ryder and sits in it and just looks at me like, ‘What are you gonna do?’”

Freddie went on to say that confrontation is good. He said when conflict is avoided, it leads to everyone being passive-aggressive.

With that said, Freddie wasn’t about to back down from Cena, at least verbally. The two had a conversation outside the room where the acting class was being held.

“He said, ‘Look, maybe I’m a neanderthal but I just don’t see how any of this sh*t works.’ And I’m looking at him like, in my head — now look, in hindsight he’s out here making movies.

“So, it’s a growing experience, a learning experience for all of us in the mind whether we recognize that or not. But I look at him and say, ‘Ay man, not everybody can do what you do.’

“I’m not saying, ‘hey can I work with John and can I give him acting lessons?’ When I had my first meeting with Steph I said, ‘Why the hell weren’t you Duke in G.I. Joe. You’re the best actor on the roster.’

“I said, ‘But I’m trying to get them on a level where you’re at or close to it because if I don’t who the hell is?’ And he kinda like shrugged his shoulders and like exhaled. And I said, ‘Ay man, it’s not like you’re helping them out.’

“That kinda like tightened up his humongous muscles and his massive arms that kinda tensed up and he goes, ‘Yeah, whatever,’ and he walked away.”

As Freddie mentioned, now Cena is a big name in Hollywood. He has been promoting the Peacemaker show and will be featured in Fast & Furious 10.

  • John Cena Explains Why He’s Not Ready For Parenthood

John Cena Explains Why He’s Not Ready For Parenthood

John Cena does not think he’s ready for fatherhood anytime soon.

The 16-time World Champion is currently doing the media rounds to promote Peacemaker, his new superhero series for HBO Max.

During an appearance on Drew Barrymore’s talk show, Cena spoke about the challenges that come with balancing his personal and professional lives.

John Cena has achieved a lot during his pro wrestling career. However, his most impressive accomplishment has taken place outside the ring. Cena holds the record with the Make-a-Wish Foundation for the most wishes granted – a staggering 650 as of this writing.

Barrymore told Cena that he would be the “world’s greatest father.” Cena is enjoying the married life with wife Shay Shariatzadeh, but he does not see parenthood in his future any time soon. He is so busy with his career that he’s not sure he’d be able to make the time commitment that parenthood requires.

“This is just my perspective, totally not qualified, but I think just because you might be good at something, for me, is not a strong enough reason to do that,” said Cena “You have to have passion for it. You have to have a fuel for it.”

He continued, “It’s like saying to someone, ‘Man, you know you are pretty good with your hands. You would be a great carpenter.’ But if I want to be an actor, I am going to be an actor. Just to say to somebody you have a great interaction with young people, that’s flattering.”

Cena says he’s really enjoying his life and can’t believe the incredible opportunities that have come his way. With great success comes a lot of work. Hard work. He finds it challenging to be a good husband and maintain connections with important people in his life. He does love the work he does with children, but does not feel it’s the right time to start a family.

  • John Cena Doesn’t Watch AEW, Happy To See Competition

John Cena Doesn’t Watch AEW, Happy To See Competition

John Cena may not take the time to watch AEW but he does realize the importance of competition.

Many consider Cena to be a WWE mainstay. While Cena has transitioned into the world of Hollywood, he’ll still attend a WWE event whenever he’s free to do so. “The Doctor of Thuganomics” knows that AEW exists and feels it benefits everyone in the wrestling industry.

John Cena On AEW & Competition

John Cena made an appearance on Barstool Sports’ Pardon My Take podcast and he revealed that he hasn’t been watching AEW TV (h/t Comicbook.com).

    “I haven’t watched AEW.”

With that said, he explained why AEW’s existence is a good thing for WWE or any other promotion.

“Competition brings out the best in us. For all time, going out there as a performer, I wanted to do the best I could possibly do and set the tone for wanting to be the best show between Raw and SmackDown and certainly have eyes on the segments I was on. I was fueled by a sense of internal competition. Not knowing what it’s like now to be in a market with a lot of different options, there are a lot of places to watch sports entertainment. That would only, for me, fuel me even more to be the best I can be.”

There was a time when WWE had its NXT brand go head-to-head with AEW Dynamite. AEW consistently had better ratings so WWE moved NXT to a different night and gutted HHH’s vision of the brand.

WWE is well-established and has been around for decades. It is still successful today. The company brings in a lot of money thanks to deals with the likes of FOX, USA Network, and Saudi Arabia.

Still, it’s good for wrestlers in the United States to know that WWE isn’t the only company. AEW’s existence also benefits top wrestlers who want to test free agency. Now, popular stars nearing the end of their contracts in either promotion can potentially start a bidding war.

  • John Cena Shares His Perspective On WWE Talent Releases

John Cena Shares His Perspective On WWE Talent Releases

The recent mass talent releases have put WWE in a bad light and they have been a big topic of discussion among fans. People have been guessing what could be the reason for it, and there are many who believe that Vince McMahon might be gearing up to sell the promotion. Though as often is the case, John Cena has different outlook of the whole situation and the reasoning behind it.

The Cenation Leader gave his thoughts on the mass layoff during an interview with The Rich Eisen Show. Cena first mentioned how regular cuts used to be the norm when he was starting in the company and according to him, it creates stakes for the development talents. He then discussed how the promotion had been on a spree of defensive hiring in recent years:

“I’m not thinking for the WWE, this is just me posing a different perspective, I think a lot of it might have been defensive hiring because there was and still is a giant boom in sports entertainment. People are absorbing this content and people are making a name for themselves outside the WWE, it’s no longer a one stop shop.”

“It Actually Has To Do Very Little With The Profit Or Loss Margin”

    John Cena
    John Cena

A big point of criticism for WWE has been the massive profits they have been touting while also laying off people due to budget cuts. John Cena explained that it actually has to do very little with the profit or loss margin. It’s just the strategy the company is going with:

“There is only so many spots and only so much program. I understand, from a business standpoint, the amount of releases that had to happen if the company justifies, ‘this is the move we’re making, we want to carry less talent,’ it has very little to do with profit-loss margin. If the company strategy is to run on a lean roster, it doesn’t matter, you run on a lean roster.”

Later the 16-time world champion mentioned how this is a touchy subject. He said that his heart goes out to everybody who has to get the sad news. Cena also recalled how he was in the building when the company fired Stone Cold Steve Austin. According to him, the incident shot through him like a canon. After that, he always ran with the perspective that if they could release Austin, he could get fired anytime too.

  • John Cena Almost Turned Heel for WrestleMania 28

John Cena Almost Turned Heel for WrestleMania 28

WWE superstar John Cena has acted as a babyface for most of his career. However, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon contemplated making him a heel.

Cena went on Smackdown Announcer Pat McAfee’s show to promote the upcoming show Peacemaker. During the interview, McAfee asked Cena about the challenges of working in WWE as a babyface for so many years and when did Cena know he’d pursue acting.

Cena admitted that being a babyface for so long is a challenge but embraces it. He also reveals that McMahon almost turned him into a heel in his feud with The Rock for Wrestlemania 28 on April 1, 2012.

“…In playing a character that, like I said, a character of virtue. A character that started as a generic wrestler and then morphed into this hip hop persona and then morphed into this character of virtue, to play the same character for a long time that’s a challenge, said Cena.”

He continued, “…I remember Vince toyed with the idea of possibly turning me heel for The Rock 1 in Miami. And I told him, hey, no problem, 100 percent I’ll do it, but just remember that we’re so deep into this point, we can’t do and then jump back because we’ll be sunk at both ends. So if we do it, I’ll have to be the opposite of virtue. I have to be pure evil, and we have to go all in.”

More on John Cena Almost Turning Heel

WWE fans in the past had wanted Cena not be a babyface. Former WWE writer Kevin Eck also shared with Pro Wrestling Torch’s Wade Keller that the company almost turned Cena. However, the company never made the change.

During the interview, Cena pinpointed the conversation he had with McMahon during his feud with The Rock being the deciding factor as to why he never turned heel. While fans never got to see Cena change character, he believes it led to great opportunities.

“…From a believability standpoint, people always see me in uniform. Go figure that, said Cena wearing the Peacemaker costume.

He continued, “If you didn’t see me in a suit in WWE, you saw me ballcap, t-shirt, jean shorts, sneakers, you saw me in uniform. I want people to know that what they see is somebody they can relate to. He (Vince) decided against it and it’s at that point he was like ‘Listen I don’t think we’re ever going to do it.’ So that’s me getting okay you have the luxury of playing this character, but you’re always are going to play this character. Which was great, because it got me to dive into nuances that kind of spawned the creation of like the Firefly Funhouse match, were like yo what if I went on a meta-experience through all of my flaws and through all like my timeline, so you know you can do stuff like that.”

Unfortunately for WWE fans, it seems we’ll never get to see Cena as a heel. However, Cena being a babyface did create moments like his match with Bray Wyatt and his feud with Roman Reigns. In the end, it seems WWE may have made the right decision.

  • John Cena On If He Will Return To WWE For WrestleMania 38

John Cena On If He Will Return To WWE For WrestleMania 38

John Cena is not sure if he will be able to make it to WrestleMania this year but he is assuring his fans that he hasn’t had his last dance inside the pro wrestling ring yet.

The Cenation leader recently made an appearance on the The Ellen DeGeneres Show. He spoke spoke about what he did for Christmas and more.

During the talk, Ellen asked if plans to appear at WWE WrestleMania 38 in April. The 16-time World Champion is not sure if his schedule will allow for it.

“WrestleMania is usually in the cusp of late March, early April,” said Cena. “I don’t know if I’m going to make it this year. That’s a good conundrum to have because there are a lot of good opportunities coming up, which I would love to take. If all those things line up, I don’t know if I’ll be able to make WrestleMania.”

“I Have Far From Had My Last Performance”

Though John Cena did assure all his fans that he is not done with wrestling. He mentioned his most recent WWE return and claimed that it’s his home:

“I will tell everybody out there watching, I’m not done with WWE by a long shot. That’s my home, I love it. I was able to go back during the summer for a few months and entertain audiences when they welcomed audiences back to arenas. I’ve far from had my last performance.”

John Cena made his most recent WWE return during the Summer time last year. He had a feud with the Universal champion Roman Reigns leading to a match between the two at SummerSlam.

  • JBL Reveals Vince McMahon Asked Him About John Cena’s Potential As Top Star

JBL Reveals Vince McMahon Asked Him About John Cena’s Potential As Top Star

John Cena is a name synonymous with WWE. He was the franchise player for the wrestling company. There are only a few names in the industry who can evoke such strong emotions and reactions from the crowd as Cena did. He has tied Ric Flair’s record for most world championships reigns at 16. He served as the company’s top stars for more than a decade. However, before taking on the superman gimmick in the company, Cena still had to gain the trust of the company to fully believe in him.

Before using his popular The Doctor of Thuganomics gimmick, John Cena was about to be let go by the company. WWE Hall of Famer JBL said in a recent interview that Vince McMahon personally asked about his first impressions of Cena and whether he thinks Cena has potential to be in the main event scene.

“There weren’t a ton of believers in Cena,” Layfield said while appearing on the Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling podcast (via Sportskeeda). “I don’t think there were un-believers. But Vince asked me one day, he said, ‘How is he?’ I said, ‘He’s your guy, man.’ Vince said, ‘He’s that good?’ I said, ‘Yeah.’”

“It’s a different dynamic going from, say, eight minutes to going to 30 minutes,” JBL added. “Now, I think he had done it with Kurt Angle too, obviously one of the greatest of all time. But when I first got out there with him, some guys never make that transition. It’s hard.”

John Cena has transitioned to Hollywood as a successful actor and wrestles sporadically. Most recently, he made a brief return to the WWE, where he challenged Roman Reigns for his WWE Universal Championship at SummerSlam. He was unsuccessful in capturing the title. Cena was asked at the Florida Supercon back in September if we would ever see him wrestle in another company. Cena reiterated pro wrestling’s famous “never say never” philosophy. Though he added that he is certain it would never happen.

“There’s a whole like ‘never say never’ philosophy and I’m also that way in life because you never know what life will bring you. But, I can with certainty say no.”

  • John Cena & The Top Merchandise Sellers For WWE This Summer Revealed

John Cena & The Top Merchandise Sellers For WWE This Summer Revealed

Stephanie McMahon addressed who the top merchandise sellers for WWE were this summer during WWE’s Earnings Call held last week. During what was dubbed the “Summer of Cena” John Cena topped the list. McMahon would continue to say that the returns of Brock Lesnar and Becky Lynch followed Cena on that list.

Roman Reigns is also said to be a top merchandise seller in WWE. According to a report from WrestlingNewsCo last month, Reigns has sold more merchandise than any other heel in the history of the company. His sales are said to be close to John Cena’s level.

    The Summer of Cena

The “Summer of Cena” coincided with WWE’s return to live events this year. Cena appeared on 15 different live events from July 23rd to August 10th. Most of these were Dark matches or house shows. Cena also wrestled Roman Reigns in the main event of SummerSlam this year. On September 10th, Cena again returned to WWE and wrestled in a dark match at the Super Smackdown from Madison Square Garden.

Cena spoke about his return during an interview with Chris Hardwick.

“Returning to WWE, it’s a brand new world. A new cast of characters, new direction with the company, new platforms, new environment. There is a challenge there. To challenge myself as a 44-year-old to go back, there is an Intrinsic challenge there, a set of circumstances. That’s a good challenge in many ways. My body could tell me after this extended stay, ‘dude, you’re done’ or it could tell me, ‘You’re so far from done it’s crazy.’ That’s another interesting conversation with myself. If physically, I’m slower, I’ve said openly to everyone that I will keep doing this until I feel I’m offending the customer. I will continually go out there and do what I can to contribute and add.”

John Cena In Talks For New Action-Comedy Film ‘Freelance’ (Report)

John Cena may be on the verge of scoring himself another big film role.

Deadline is reporting that Cena is currently in talks to star in an action-comedy film named, Freelance. Pierre Morel will be directing the movie. Morel is best known for the Taken film.

Freelance is about a special forces operator who trades in life in the Army in favor of starting a family. After years of being a family man, the operator gets back into the action after agreeing to serve as a security guard for a female journalist. A military coup breaks out in the middle of the journalist’s interview with a dictator.

The film is set to have a budget in the $40 million range. Filming will start in early 2022 and will take place in Colombia.

Will John Cena Be At Survivor Series?

The movie, directed by Amy Rice is scheduled to start filming in NYC in November. This is a curious schedule for Cena because of the Survivor Series PPV.

Survivor Series is set to take place on November 21 from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. This puts the 16-time world champion in town around the time for the event.

While competing at the show seems out of question for John due to insurance issues, a live appearance at the event seems very much possible. It would be interesting to see if WWE decides to reach out to him for the event.

John Cena On If He Will Ever Wrestle For Any Other Company

We have seen a number of former WWE stars showing up at different companies in the past few months, though there is one star who is certain that he will never work for any other promotion – John Cena.

The cenation leader took part in a Q&A at the Florida Supercon over the weekend. Among other questions, the former champion was also asked if we would ever see him wrestling for another promotion.

Replying to it, Cena reiterated pro wrestling’s famous “never say never” philosophy. Though he later added that he is certain this won’t be the case:

“There’s a whole like ‘never say never’ philosophy and I’m also that way in life because you never know what life will bring you. But, I can with certainty say no,”

John Cena also talked about the ECW One Night Stand event in 2006 where he defended his WWE championship against RVD. He revealed that he found out that he was losing the WWE title to the Hall Of Famer four hours before the show.

The 16-time world champion made his most recent WWE return at Money In The Bank in July. He then faced Roman Reigns at SummerSlam. He completed this stint with his MSG appearance. There is no word on when we will see him in WWE again.

John Cena made another appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

Cena was on the show to promote his Hulu movie, “Vacation Friends.” A brief clip from the movie aired on the show and Fallon ran down a synopsis.

Fallon also asked Cena about his WWE SummerSlam match with Roman Reigns. Cena was pinned in a failed bid for the WWE Universal Championship and he joked about falling short.

“Dude it was great. I had a wonderful match, I finished second place.”

Cena went on to say that he’s glad he got a chance to perform in front of the WWE Universe again.

“That was nice. There is no better feeling than being in front of a live audience. There really isn’t and I’m so grateful to have all of you here. I’m so grateful to be back with a live audience. There is no other energy like performing and entertaining, or telling stories or just shooting the sh*t in front of a live audience, so thank you.”

Later on in the show, John Cena and Jimmy Fallon played a game called “Facebreakers.” The goal was to be the first to smash all the glass panels of the opponent’s face by throwing footballs. Here’s how that played out.

Cena will be in Madison Square Garden tonight (Sept. 10) for the WWE SmackDown Supershow. He hasn’t been advertised for the FOX broadcast but he will be competing in a dark match.

John Cena Reveals His Choice For Best Actor In WWE

John Cena has unveiled his choice for the best actor in WWE.

Cena has been making a smooth transition from the ring to Hollywood. Cena recently made a brief return to the WWE, losing to WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns in the main event of SummerSlam. Cena plans to make an appearance on the Sept. 10 episode of SmackDown, which will take place inside Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Speaking to Dan Patrick on That Scene, Cena explained why he looks at Vince McMahon as the best actor in WWE.

“Vince McMahon. This is his thing and he took it from being a regional thing to national and global. He gets it because he created it. The way he walks, the way he talks, his run as the Chairman in the middle of the Attitude Era, evil Vince, he’s made for it. And he gets it. Like he puts ego and self aside and goes out there and gives everything to it.”

John Cena went on to talk about why WWE has taken the wrestling industry and put their own spin on it with sports entertainment.

“I think it had something to do with, I say I think because it’s complete speculation if we were entertainment we could be in more places and do more things. And I think that’s why we admitted its entertainment. A lot of the mystique used to be around whether it was real or not, and that was twenty, thirty years ago. So we’re still going strong with a larger reach than ever. It just goes to show that people just want to be entertained, they just want a chance to escape.”

John Cena: Conor McGregor Would Be ‘Fantastic’ Addition To WWE Roster

John Cena believes that Conor McGregor can do great things inside a WWE ring.

McGregor is regarded as the most popular MMA fighter the sport has ever seen. He has garnered mass appeal for a long period of time, even longer Ronda Rousey. While he has seen better days inside the Octagon, going 1-3 in his last four outings, the “Notorious” one remains the top PPV draw in the UFC.

Cena knows a thing or two about sports entertainment and he feels McGregor is tailor-made for WWE. Speaking to Dan Patrick, Cena said he’s of the belief that McGregor would fit right in the WWE mold.

“He’d be fantastic. He is what we do. It’s a little less predictable. Our surprises are getting people to show up at random and weave the ‘choose your own adventure’ into a different alley. His surprises are getting a few teeth knocked out or getting an operation. Not to say that this doesn’t happen with us, mistakes happen, but in his profession, it’s not a mistake. I hope (he makes an appearance) because I want to see it. At my core, I’m a fan. He’s interesting and has a gravity about him. I want to see him perform.”

McGregor has said some things about Cena in the past that haven’t been so flattering. During a media scrum back in 2016, McGregor had the following to say about Cena.

“What’s the main guy? John Cena. He’s 40. He’s 40 years of age. He’s walking around in a luminous orange T-shirt and a headband talking about nobody can see him. We can see him right there. He’s a big, fat, 40-year-old failed Mr. Olympia motherf*cker.”

  • John Cena Responds To Batista Declining To Share Screen With Him

John Cena Responds To Batista Declining To Share Screen With Him

John Cena was asked for his reaction about Batista declining to work with him or The Rock in a movie during his recent interview with Esquire. Replying to it, John said that he is sad about it because Batista is a great actor. Though later Cena claimed that he understands the sentiment behind the comment:

“I think when someone makes a statement like that, I think the important thing is to try and look at things from their perspective. Dave has worked so hard on his craft. And he is so dedicated to his characters. And really wants to put forth a body of work that gives him his own identity. I 100 percent understand that.”

John Cena doubled down on his comments about Batista saying that he cannot fault the fellow former world champion for wanting to be recognized for his work:

“He really just wants to be identified and recognized for his work. And I cannot fault him for that. I applaud him for it. To be brave enough to say something like that kind of allows him to go forth on his own and I appreciate that.”

Batista Doesn’t Want To Work With John Cena Or The Rock

Batista got wrestling fans talking earlier this year when he claimed that he doesn’t want to share the screen with fellow wrestlers turned acting stars John Cena and The Rock. The discussion kicked off when a fan suggested that these three should join forces for a movie but Batista declined the possibility. He clarified his remark explaining that he is a character actor and not just an action star:

What did you make of Batista’s comments about sharing screens with Cena or The Rock? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.

John Cena: The Rock Doesn’t Need To Be Pressured Into WWE Return

John Cena doesn’t believe The Rock owes anyone a return to WWE.

It’s no secret that The Rock has become Hollywood’s biggest star. During his time with WWE, “The People’s Champion” gained immense popularity but few could’ve expected him to explode on the scene the way that he has. It got to the point where some weren’t convinced that he’d ever make a return to WWE.

The Rock ended up returning in 2011 and he served as the WrestleMania 27 host. He ended up facing John Cena at WrestleMania 28 and 29. Along the way, The Rock even captured the WWE Title from CM Punk.

During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Cena explained why he won’t be calling his old foe to ask him about returning to WWE.

“He’s earned the right not to be pressured into that choice. I can say he is a fan of the WWE. He is the most electrifying man in sports entertainment. So as a fan do, I want to see one of the greatest performers of all time step back in the WWE ring? Yeah. But in no way am I gonna call him and if I’m gonna talk to him about something, it’s not gonna try to be to get him back in the WWE ring. He needs to come to that conclusion by himself.

“Because then, his performance will be, The Rock, he’ll be the best he can be. So I do hope he comes back, as a fan, and I hope it’s wonderful, and if he chooses not to, he’s earned the right to choose not to.”

Many believe that WWE’s hope is to be able to get The Rock for a WrestleMania showdown with “The Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns. The holdup is whether or not The Rock’s schedule can align with WWE’s.

SummerSlam completed the “Summer of Cena” WWE advertised following his return to the company. Beginning on July 23rd, Cena appeared on 15 different WWE live events.

He wrestled 14x during the tour. Many of his matches were untelevised dark matches or took place on house shows. He went 13-0 (all tag matches) leading up to his SummerSlam loss to Roman Reigns.

  • Roman Reigns Beats John Cena At WWE SummerSlam

Roman Reigns Beats John Cena At WWE SummerSlam

WWE booked one of if not the biggest match possible for the main event of SummerSlam as John Cena challenged Roman Reigns for the Universal Title.

The match had a slow start with a lot of mind games going on. Reigns beat Cena down for the majority of the match with Cena getting small parts of offense in. Cena with an AA for a near fall. Cena with the STF, but Reigns got to the bottom rope. Cena later hit an AA through the announce table.

Cena with an AA off the middle rope for a near fall. Reigns hit the spear for the win. Post-match, Brock Lesnar made his return.

Before this feud, Cena hadn’t been on WWE television since WrestleMania 36 where he took part in the Firefly Fun House match against Bray Wyatt. It was a trip down memory lane for Cena.

It wasn’t a normal match, but rather a series of segments where he went through all of his old gimmicks. The finish saw Wyatt hit Sister Abigail to Cena then choked him out with the Mandible Claw to end the match.

Cena has continued his Hollywood career while being away from WWE. He started serving as the host of TBS’ Wipeout series, filmed the second Suicide Squad movie, the Peacemaker series, and starred in the most recent Fast & Furious movie, F9.

Cena made his return at the WWE Money in the Bank pay-per-view event in Fort Worth, Texas at Dickies Arena where he told Reigns that he couldn’t see him. After weeks of Reigns declining Cena’s challenge for a match, “The Big Dog” finally granted it.

Details On Who Is Producing John Cena & Roman Reigns’ Feud

This week’s episode of WWE SmackDown began with a heated back and forth promo segment between John Cena and WWE Universal Champion, Roman Reigns.

Cena and Reigns exchanged words ahead of their WWE SummerSlam 2021 match for the Universal Title, the match that will most likely headline the show inside of Allegiant Stadium on Saturday, August 21st.

    John Cena vs Roman Reigns

According to a new report from Fightful Select, we now know who produced the segment between the two main event Superstars on this week’s episode of the show.

Former WWE Superstar Jamie Noble produced the opening segment, or according to Fightful he was “at least listed as such.”

It was also noted that Paul Heyman has “also had heavy influence over Reigns’ stories” over the past few months and that Roman and Cena both have significantly more creative freedom over their segments than most within the company.

The actual promo segment had a lot of elements of the original feud between Cena and Reigns, except that on this occasion Reigns is no longer portraying the all-conquering babyface.

It has not been confirmed if Jamie Noble will be producing the actual match between John Cena and Roman Reigns, however he does appear to have a big hand in the structure of the segments between the two going forward.

  • John Cena References CM Punk & Jon Moxley On SmackDown

John Cena References CM Punk & Jon Moxley On SmackDown

John Cena dropped quite a reference involving CM Punk and Jon Moxley.

The Aug. 13 edition of SmackDown opened up with Cena addressing the WWE Universe. He made it clear that while he believes he’s in for a beating against Roman Reigns at WWE SummerSlam, he’ll still pull off the victory to become a 17-time world champion in WWE.

Reigns later came out with Paul Heyman to respond to Cena. It was during this exchange that Cena referenced CM Punk with the following.

“You’re gonna show up all full of yourself like you normally do and put on a hell of a show. I’m just gonna hang in there for 1,2,3. And then I’m gonna take your title, I’m gonna jump the barricade, and I’m gonna run out of Allegiant Stadium as fast as I can. I may even blow you a kiss goodbye.”

Cena is referring to his July 2011 showdown with Punk at the Money in the Bank PPV. The storyline going into that match was that CM Punk’s contract was expiring and he wanted to leave the company as WWE Champion. Punk ended up pinning Cena with the GTS and blowing a kiss at Vince McMahon before exiting through the crowd.

Cena then referenced another former WWE star in Jon Moxley, who used to be known as Dean Ambrose with the company.

“You haven’t been embarrassed, you’ve been protected. Pretty face with giant bars of soap you got for teeth. You’ve been protected, Roman. You’ve been protected by The Shield. Hell, you almost ruined Seth Rollins. You ran Dean Ambrose out of WWE.”

Is CM Punk Headed To AEW?

Punk has been heavily teased for a return to wrestling under the AEW banner. Many speculate that he will make his promotional debut on the Aug. 20 edition of Rampage. That episode will be taking place inside the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.

Punk, himself, dropped what many believe to be a major hint. On his Instagram Stories, Punk posted a quote that is tattooed on AEW star Darby Allin’s chest.
