  • Enzo Amore Shares Advice For Young Talent, Recalls John Cena Helping Him In NXT

Enzo Amore Shares Advice For Young Talent, Recalls John Cena Helping Him In NXT

Former WWE Superstar Enzo Amore has revealed the advice he would impart to young talent competing on the independent scene.

Speaking with Chris Van Vliet, Amore stressed that talent shouldn’t make assumptions. “[…] the number one thing that I have to say here is, if you’re a young pro wrestler that’s in this world, don’t assume that everybody knows you every time you walk into an arena.”

He continued, “Don’t assume you’re over. Don’t pretend that you’re over. Go out there like it’s the first time they’re ever gonna see you. And, you know, I did that the same way Paul Heyman did, introduce yourself.”

    Cena Opportunity

Amore credited John Cena as being one of the first people to provide him with a real opportunity in WWE. He recalled how Cena was in attendance for an NXT show long before the black-and-gold brand was on USA Network. Cena was there to feature in a dark segment in an effort to get people to attend the event.

“The day I debuted, Dusty Rhodes gave me the microphone and put me out there, gave me my first opportunity. And then John Cena gave me my second opportunity that very night when in the dark segment, when the show was over, John Cena was meant to come out because we keep the crowd there. At that time, we couldn’t keep NXT fans in the house. We needed John Cena to be in the dark segment so that people would stick around for four hours of tape. Right. Well, John Cena came up to me and he said, ‘hey, listen, I’ve been here for four hours, at tapings, and you’re the only thing that has caught my attention today. Good job.’ And I walked away and I was like, what just happened? Wow.”

Turns out that this interaction would lead to Amore creating one of the popular catchphrases he had in WWE. He recalled sharing the ring with Cena and Damien Sandow during that dark segment. Amore would eventually turn to insulting Sandow, calling him “sawft,” much to the delight of Cena and the NXT crowd.

“John Cena and the crowd are like what the hell? So John Cena said out loud, what did you call him? And I went, ‘sawft.’ And then John Cena went, ‘sawft’, and the whole crowd goes, ‘sawft.’”

Amore would eventually leverage his skills on the mic into a successful run in NXT with his tag team partner, Big Cass. They made their main roster debut in April 2016 following WrestleMania 32 before both eventually leaving the company.

  • Roman Reigns Praises Baron Corbin, Talks About How John Cena Changed The Game

Roman Reigns Praises Baron Corbin, Talks About How John Cena Changed The Game

Roman Reigns had favorable words for his rival Baron Corbin whilst talking with After The Bell host Corey Graves. He talked about how Corbin “rubbed everybody a certain way” including other WWE Superstars, and that he would leverage that for his in-ring work.

“Even with the boys back then he got a reaction,” Reigns said. “He rubbed everybody a certain way, and when he got into the ring, he picked it up. He’s a big guy with good timing.”

Reigns continued, “It’s one of those things, and you’ve seen it a billion times – including likely with me – guys will just get it. There would be a point in time where two left feet just becomes good footwork and it just clicks. In the past couple of years, that transition has happened for him and ever since he cut that hair off and got real stupid and cocky, it started working for him.”

He reflected on how every time Corbin is in the ring, the crowd openly “despises” him. Reigns joked how it makes his job a lot easier because “He makes it so that the crowd wants another guy to come out there and kick his ass.”

“The Big Dog” admitted that there several Superstars ready to break out in the locker room. He stressed how it’s one thing to get into a top position, and another thing entirely to stay there. Reigns pointed to John Cena as a top WWE Superstar who was able to achieve that longevity.

“You can’t just have one good month or one good year. In this day and age, your run has to be pretty significant to really make waves. John Cena changed that whole game for us,” he said.”

“It was a lot different for Rock and Steve [Austin] as it seemed like it was a transition into the next guy. You’ve gotta be able to hold it down for a while because there’s no offseason. The only way to show your value nowadays is through consistency but that’s in everything, not just this business…”

Roman Reigns is scheduled to compete at this year’s Survivor Series event. He is joined by Mustafa Ali, Braun Strowman, King Corbin and Shorty G on Team SmackDown. They face off against both Team RAW and Team NXT on November 24.

  • John Cena Shares His Interesting Pre-Match Superstition (Video)

John Cena Shares His Interesting Pre-Match Superstition (Video)

John Cena has accomplished many things in pro wrestling and will go down as one of the biggest stars that WWE ever had. It turns out that he couldn’t have done it without a certain superstition that he has.

The former WWE Champion was recently a guest on The Kelly Clarkson Show where he spoke on a wide variety of topics.

The topic about his pre-match superstition was brought up when Clarkson joked about how having a bad smell could have a negative impact on his opponent. It turns out that Cena has good breath during his matches.

The reason for that is due to him having a thing for tic tacs. It has become a ritual for him before wrestling to help out with his nerves. It’s gotten to the point where he admits that he’s had to ween himself off of them.

    Here is what Cena said:

“My thing was always Tic Tacs. It’s a nervous superstition that I always have before we go on a broadcast. And I’ve had to ween myself off of them because I got up to three boxes a day. And that’s, like, right in the 20 minutes before broadcast. It’s pretty much 10,000 calories of straight sugar.”

  • John Cena Eager For WWE Return, Addresses Randy Orton’s WrestleMania Challenge

John Cena Eager For WWE Return, Addresses Randy Orton’s WrestleMania Challenge

John Cena recently spoke with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated to talk about a wide range of topics.

This interview was done to promote his partnership with the FitOps Foundation, a nonprofit committed to training and certifying veterans as personal trainers.

In the interview, he talked about being able to vaguely relate because of his experience away from WWE.

“I’m so grateful to be doing some amazing things right now, but I still miss WWE and still ask myself, ‘Who am I?’ when I am not active with WWE. My identity was so closely tied to WWE for so long.”

Cena was then asked about Randy Orton challenging him to a match at WrestleMania 36 on Sunday, April 5th, 2020. “I wasn’t even aware of that,” said Cena.

He continued, “I never make the matches, I’m just grateful to be able to perform in WWE. Every day away from it, I miss it more and more and more. I’m becoming more honest with myself about how much I miss it. I’m very eager to get back into a WWE ring soon.”

It’s no secret that Cena understands how pro wrestling is intended for younger talent, which is part of the reason why he has taken a step back from pro wrestling while focusing on his acting career.

While he’s not around as much as he used to be, he does plan on being at WrestleMania 36. Whether that will be in a match or an appearance remains to be seen.

Cena continued, “And on the subject of WrestleMania, I can tell you this—I haven’t missed a WrestleMania since my first appearance at WrestleMania 19, and I do not plan to miss a WrestleMania for decades to come.”

Cena didn’t wrestle at this year’s WrestleMania 35 event but did do an in-ring segment with Elias that ended with him laying out the WWE Superstar.

He hasn’t wrestled at the biggest event of the year for the company since 2018 where he lost to The Undertaker in a quick match.

  • John Cena On Being Wrong About The Rock

John Cena On Being Wrong About The Rock

John Cena recently spoke to Sports Illustrated to promote his upcoming movie Playing with Fire where he talked about his career in wrestling, the wrestling fanbase and more.

There was a time when Cena was feuding with the Rock back in 2011 and he had criticized the Great One for leaving WWE to join Hollywood and pursue an acting career.

However, in recent years, the Cenation Leader himself has grown to love acting and according to John, it has made him realize how he was wrong about the Rock:

“I’ve told Dwayne Johnson that when I called him out for a lack of love for WWE, I was wrong, I was ignorant. He loves WWE, but he goes from shooting one project to the next. He blazed a trail and I didn’t understand that, but now I totally understand. I was wrong.”

The 16 Time World Champion went on to explain how there is no way to be with WWE when you are filming because even if you come back to do a show on an off day, you can jeopardize the whole film by getting hurt.

Apart from this, John Cena also talked about his reduced workload since leaving WWE, how professional wrestling is an addictive industry and more. You can check out his full interview at this link.

Elite Tease To A Five-Year Contract

‘The Viper’ recently teased his interest in All Elite Wrestling, uploading a picture of himself next to a sign that clearly read “Elite.” His former allies on SmackDown, The Revival, added further speculation to his post by suggesting they were also interest in jumping to AEW. Despite this, however, it was revealed that Orton had signed a new five-year deal with WWE.

Orton and Cena are familiar with one another as opponents, having feuded numerous times over the years. This suggested challenge, however, would see them clash on the grandest stage of them all at WrestleMania 36.

WrestleMania 36 is set to take place on April 5th, 2020 from the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.

John Cena Reveals “Sage Advice” He Received From The Rock

John Cena was a recent guest on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon. During their conversation, Cena spoke about his WWE feud with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. He also shared the advice he received from Johnson as he began to step away from the ring to ramp up his acting career.

“The Rock and I are most known for our tremendous WWE feud that broke WWE pay-per-view records, and we kind of talked a lot of trash about each other,” Cena confessed. “Now, we also had a follow-up match a year later. So we spent a year making fun of each other, and one night beating each other up, and then we’re like ‘Did we just become best friends? ‘Yep.’ So basically we were able to set aside our differences on that night. In the next year, I began to get more chances at opportunities.”

    Sage Advice

Cena then reflected on doing a taped audition for the movie Trainwreck. Looking for advice, Cena turned to The Rock for his thoughts on how to best present himself for the audition.

“He gave me a piece of advice that still rings in my ears like he said it yesterday. I don’t even know if he knows this was such sage advice,” Cena said. “He just turned to me as smooth and casual as he does with everything he says, and in such an inspirational tone, as with everything he does, he was like, ‘Just be yourself, man. That’s why they asked you there in the first place.’ And that message of ‘always be authentically yourself’ has stuck with me, and created the opportunity I have. Thank you, The Rock.”

John Cena’s new movie, Playing with Fire, is released in theaters on November 8th.

John Cena Says His Body Can’t Handle The WWE Schedule Anymore

John Cena has given some insight into part of the reason that he has taken a step back as an active in-ring performer for WWE.

The former WWE Champion is slated to be on Sunday’s episode of “Sunday Today” with Willie Geist on NBC. A preview of that interview was released and during it, Cena talked about his WWE future.

“When do I walk away? And when do I walk away with essentially a sense of mental and physical sanity? And I’m right at that precipice.”

Cena stated that he feels great and is in the best shape of his life as it’s not a situation where he couldn’t continue but thinks this point on he runs the risk of tipping that balance the wrong way.

He continued, “I will never walk away from WWE. That’s the great thing about WWE, you can perform in any capacity, and, as long as I’ve made a promise in the in-ring aspect of things, as long as I can keep up with the current product, I can perform.”

Cena brought up his ability to pursue an acting career while maintaining a WWE presence and that it brings him the best of both worlds. He added that he can be invited back to the company and do it in a super special way, which is the way that he thinks it should be.

“If I didn’t have these opportunities, I still would be taking, actively taking, time off,” Cena said. “My body just can’t handle the schedule anymore.”

The Miz Credits John Cena With Teaching Him How To Become A “Main Event Caliber Superstar”

The Miz has credited John Cena for teaching him how to become a main event Superstar.

He gave Cena props during an interview with Hot 94.1 while doing promotional work for WWE.

When asked which Superstar, past of currently active, he had learned the most from, The Miz responded:

“John Cena. Being in the ring with John Cena taught me how to become a main event caliber superstar.”

The two have feuded numerous times over the years. However, The Miz’s most notable victory over Cena saw him successfully retain the WWE Championship in the main event of WrestleMania 27 back in 2011. His win actually came with a major assist from Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, who had delivered a Rock Bottom to Cena that Miz capitalized on.

    Clash Of Champions

Just last night, The Miz challenged Shinsuke Nakamura to a match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship. His challenge brought out Nakamura’s ‘mouthpiece,’ Sami Zayn who insulted Miz, calling him “The King of Soft Style.”

The SmackDown segment ended after Nakamura blind-sided Miz from behind, leading to a beatdown at the hands of the current Intercontinental Champion, ending with an assisted Kinshasa as Zayn held Miz in place.

At this point in time, the challenge has not yet been accepted. If it is, the two will likely compete at WWE’s Clash of Champions event.

Opening up about her emotional well-being during an episode of The Bellas Podcast, Nikki admitted that she was incredibly unhappy during the final days of her relationship with Cena.

Her unhappiness made her reflective, questioning why she was so sad despite having everything she thought she needed.

“I live in these gorgeous homes. I have these gorgeous things. I would understand that when you would look at my life, it was like, ‘how was this girl becoming so unhappy?’ And honestly, it’s still questions I asked myself today. Like, I’m still trying to get over my break-up. I have unconditional love for him. We were such a great couple, but our lives didn’t work.”

She continued, “Sometimes people, when they get into marriage, they don’t realize that marriage is beyond just loving someone. You are joining a life together. It’s a partnership. It’s so many things that those are things, unfortunately, you have to look at, and I look at my marriage just being different than what John and I were gonna have.”

Nikki is currently dating her former Dancing with the Stars partner, Artem Chigvintsev, who she also claimed to be a soulmate during the podcast.

    John Cena Comments On SummerSlam

John Cena won’t be taking part in this year’s SummerSlam pay-per-view event. However, that hasn’t stopped him from commenting on what many people consider is the third biggest show of the year for the company just behind WrestleMania and Royal Rumble.

Cena hasn’t worked a match at this show since 2017 where he beat Baron Corbin in a singles match. Cena posted the following on social media:

Randy Orton Hypes WWE Title Match

Although Randy Orton hasn’t been featured on WWE television over the past two weeks to hype his current program, that didn’t stop him from building it up online.

Check out our WWE SummerSlam Predictions.

The former WWE Champion took to his official Twitter account where he commented on tonight’s WWE SummerSlam event where he’ll challenge Kofi Kingston for the WWE Title.

    He wrote the following:

“I haven’t been holding anyone down for 11 years, I’ve been making history for 18. At this event, in this building, I became the youngest WWE World Heavyweight Champion…and tonight I add another #SummerSlam win, another championship reign. #14Time.”

Orton and his wife Kim had been away on vacation in the Maldives during his vacation. With the bad blood and history that dates back to 2009, WWE had no problem with building up this program.

Freddie Prinze Jr. Recalls Not Getting Along With John Cena While Working For WWE

In any business or line of work, it’s unlikely that you’ll get on with every one of your co-workers.

Turns out that was the case between former WWE creative member and actor, Freddie Prinze Jr., and WWE Superstar John Cena.

Prinze Jr. was hired as a part of WWE’s creative team in 2008. He would be one of the people responsible for WWE’s promo classes at the time.

During an interview with Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show, he revealed how Cena took issue with him being there.

“John Cena and I were the only ones who didn’t really get along,” he admitted. “I respect what John brought to WWE. He had to hold the company on his shoulders during the PG Era when no one else wanted to. That could have been [Triple H], but he wanted to be more Rated R and do the stuff he liked to do. John took that upon himself. For that, wrestling fans should be grateful. But we did not get along. He did not like that I was there.”

Freddie recalled how Cena would refer to him as Ashton Kutcher for his first three months with the company, and, at one point, even interrupted one of his promo classes.

“He walked in, in the middle of acting class, and sat down in between the two wrestlers. We go outside, and I go, ‘You’re not in this class because you know how to do this. But you don’t want to teach these guys or girls shit. So let me do my job. Let me do what Vince wants me to do. And just stay out of here.’ To his credit, he goes, ‘I know approach this stuff in a barbaric sort of way, but you either got it, or you don’t.’ I said, ‘You’re right about that. But you can get better or worse, depending on the type of instruction you have. Do you want them to have instruction from Vince in the promo class or from me?’”

Prinze Jr. left WWE in early 2009 to start a family with his wife, Sarah Michelle Gellar. He was last seen on WWE television in an on-screen role during a segment in 2010.

  • Kurt Angle Discusses Why He Didn’t Wrestle John Cena At WrestleMania 35

Kurt Angle Discusses Why He Didn’t Wrestle John Cena At WrestleMania 35

Kurt Angle wrestled his final match this past April at WrestleMania 35. His opponent was Baron Corbin, much to the chagrin of the WWE Universe, several superstars and former backstage personel.

Many had expected John Cena to face Angle in his retirement match, given that the two competed during Cena’s debut.

Speaking with Collider Live, Angle discussed his WrestleMania retirement match, and why Vince McMahon elected for Corbin over Cena.

“I decided to retire at ‘Mania,” Angle said. “Vince didn’t tell me ‘Listen you’re done after ‘Mania.’ I went to him and said ‘Listen, I want to retire. I’m not able to do what I used to, and if I can’t be the old Kurt Angle, I want to be done now,’” he explained.

“I was hearing a lot of feedback from people that Kurt looks like he’s in pain in the ring and he’s slower then he used to be, and it’s like ‘Guys, I’m 50 years old, of course I’m slower.”

    “I’m Not Throwing It Away”

Kurt thought that WWE was hoping he would be able to face Cena next year at WrestleMania 36. When he asked to retire at WrestleMania 35, Vince infortmed him he was already involved in a feud.

He recalled being told by Vince McMahon that “You have a program that you’ve been doing for a year; I’m not throwing it away. It’s with Baron Corbin, so whether you want to retire now or whenever, you’re going to wrestle Baron at WrestleMania.”

Angle agreed, saying “‘You know what, that’s fair. You’re right.’ I can’t just change the whole thing and what they had planned and say ‘Hey, add Cena in.’ So I think that if it was next WrestleMania [36], it would have been John and I.”

Kurt Angle recently appeared in a backstage segment during this past Monday’s RAW Reunion special. He helped set up a matchup between Rey Mysterio and Sami Zayn.

John Cena made a stop on the show that he spent the majority of his WWE career on, Monday Night RAW, as part of the RAW Reunion special.

As seen on the show, Cena opened the show with a promo in the ring about how he couldn’t miss tonight’s show and WWE is his home. Cena stated, “I know I’m not around as much as I used to be, but this is my heart and you are my family.”

This led to The Usos coming out and wanting him to do a rap battle. He took a shot at them being arrested and then welcomed out Rikishi, who wanted to dance. They were interrupted by The Revival and D-Von to set up Usos vs. Revival.

Cena was last seen on WWE television at WrestleMania 35 back in April as he walked out with his 2003 theme song playing and dressed as the doctor of thuganomics.

The former WWE Champion did a run with the company in late December through early January where he worked several TV and live events.
