WWE Superstar John Cena confirmed earlier today that his new film ‘Ferdinand’ has been nominated for a Golden Globe in the ‘Best Animated Film’ category.
Honored and grateful for #GoldenGlobes nomination of @FerdinandMovie…The story of a BIG Bull with a BIG message of being yourself and being PROUD of who you are.
The Rock’s animated Disney movie Moana was nominated last year (it lost out to Zootopia).
Cena’s ‘Ferdinand’ will be opening this weekend against the new Star Wars film ‘The Last Jedi.’ Ferdinand is about is a young bull (voiced by John Cena) who escapes from a training camp in rural Spain after his father never returns from a showdown with a matador. Adopted by a girl who lives on a farm, Ferdinand’s peaceful existence comes crashing down when the authorities return him to his former captors. With help from a wisecracking goat and three hedgehogs, the giant but gentle bovine must find a way to break free before he squares off against El Primero, the famous bullfighter who never loses.
– WWE posted the following video in which Sami Zayn reacts to SmackDown Live Commissioner Shane McMahon inserting himself as Special Guest Referee for he and Kevin Owens’ Tag Team match against Randy Orton and Shinsuke Nakamura at Clash Of Champions. If Zayn and Owens lose the match, they will be fired from WWE. Check it out:
– FOX 5 in Washington, D.C. did an article in which they discuss the recent social media exchanges between Hulk Hogan and The Rock, teasing a possible WrestleMania rematch between the two icons. John Cena gave his thoughts on the possible rematch in the article, and had this to say:
“My thoughts are the age-old adage that is WWE: Never say never,” Cena said.
WWE RAW is set to celebrate it’s 25th anniversary in January 2018. The landmark occasion will feature Superstars from SmackDown Live and RAW, as well as “special appearances by WWE Legends The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels and Kevin Nash, among others”
However there are 2 live shows of historic significance before the 25th anniversary. For the first time in it’s history, RAW is set to air on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
Alongside the likes of The Shield, Kurt Angle, Alexa Bliss, The Bar, Kane, Braun Strowman, Samoa Joe, Finn Balor and Bray Wyatt, two others have been revealed to feature.
The first is John Cena, who last appeared as part of the SmackDown Live Survivor Series team that lost to RAW.
Cena is speculated to make an announcement about his participation at 2018’s Royal Rumble, or at least set up a feud to see him into WrestleMania 34. The second superstar who is set to feature is The Miz.
The Miz had previously lost his Intercontinental Championship to Roman Reigns, before leaving to fulfill his commitments to latest Marine film with Becky Lynch and Shaun Michaels. The Christmas Day episode of RAW could see The Miz claim his rematch clause against Reigns, but no plans have been revealed as of yet.
Opinion:
It seems a little pointless for The Miz to claim his rematch on Christmas Day as he is still filming the latest Marine movie. Therefore, if he did claim his rematch, it’s quite obvious that he would not be gaining the title. He could make his intentions clear for the future, like John Cena might, but it’s also important to remember that The Miz is due to become a father which will impact on commitments and priorities.
We’ve noted that John Cena is doing an overseas tour to promote his new animated film, Ferdinand. “The Leader Of The Cenation” appeared on Good Morning Britain this morning and was asked about his proposal to his longtime girlfriend, Nikki Bella. Cena proposed to Bella following their WrestleMania 33 win over The Miz and Maryse in Mixed Tag Team action.
It’s been well documented that Cena was on the fence about getting married again after his first divorce back in 2012. His reluctance to remarry has been a key featured topic on E!’s Total Divas:
“She said yes,” Cena said. “I was extremely nervous, because the audience controls our program, and this was in a match with 75,000 people. You just get to the point where you think ‘man this is a good idea’, but then you’re like, ‘what if they start chanting ‘no! no! no!’.”
They showed a clip of the proposal and Piers Morgan pointed out Cena was actually getting a little emotional while watching:
“It’s the best moment of my life, and I couldn’t think of a better place to do it,” Cena stated. “The WWE has been my family for the past 15 years… we have such a strong connection to our audience. The crazy thing about that moment was that I was in a match, before that, and if you watch the match back, the audience hated me. But it’s such a show of respect that once the performance was over, they realize that this is a moment we are both going to remember for all of our lives.”
When Morgan asked how Cena would have reacted if Bella said no, Cena responded with a laugh, “I kind of put her in an environment where she couldn’t say no.”

TMZ is reporting that Ford Motor Company is suing John Cena for allegedly selling a 2017 Ford GT which violates a contract Cena had with them.
John was “selected from thousands of applicants for the opportunity to purchase the Ford GT.”, according to the lawsuit filed against him at the U.S. District Court in Michigan.
While purchasing the car, the Leader Of Cenation signed an agreement in which he agreed to hold on to it for at least 2 years.
However, Ford says that soon after receiving the car, the Former Champion flipped it to a third party for a big profit.
The company further claims that The WWE Star told them that he sold the car along with some other properties to ‘pay bills’.
They are now demanding for him to hand over all the profit made from the sale along with other damages. Here is a statement from their representative:
“Mr. Cena has unfairly made a large profit from the unauthorized resale flip of the vehicle, and Ford has suffered additional damages and losses, including, but not limited to, loss of brand value, ambassador activity, and customer goodwill due to the improper sale.”
So far John Cena has not made any public comments on the matter but we’ll keep you posted if anything comes up.
– John Cena is currently overseas doing promotional work for his new animated film “Ferdinand.” “The Leader Of The Cenation” is currently in Dubai after visiting Australia earlier in the week, and posted the following on Twitter:
Read some #Ferdinand, played some Cricket (poorly) and had a great time the past few days in Sydney until the teacher took attendance in class and I was marked absent… U?C????? pic.twitter.com/stIOqDeKoW
– WWE UK star Wolfgang has been cleared to return to action after suffering an injury during the company’s European tour earlier this month. He worked the WWE NXT tapings earlier tonight from Full Sail University.
– As we noted before a report suggested that Vince McMahon has cooled down on the idea of pushing Finn Balor because the Boss thinks that he is not ‘over enough’.
Balor had referenced this report about him in one of his recent tweets and he has once again commented on these speculations indirectly through the following tweet:
Cena last appeared on WWE Programming during the recent Survivor Series PPV and he is expected to work on a number of Live Events right after Christmas. No word yet on when the Leader Of Cenation will make his on-screen return to the company.
– With AJ Styles defeating Jinder Mahal on SmackDown Live to become the new WWE Champion, he is set to take on Universal Champion Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series later this month for the PPV’s RAW vs. SmackDown angle. WWE is hyping up “The Beast’s” response to Styles replacing Mahal in the match at Monday’s go-home RAW in Atlanta. WWE made the following announcement:
The Beast Incarnate sounds off on The Phenomenal One
Jinder Mahal might have been the one to throw down the gauntlet for a Champion vs. Champion Match against Universal Champion Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series, but it will be new WWE Champion AJ Styles who stands in the path of The Beast Incarnate next Sunday night in Houston.
Following The Phenomenal One’s defeat of The Modern Day Maharaja on SmackDown LIVE in Manchester, U.K., Lesnar and his associate Paul Heyman now look to invite an entirely different potential resident to Suplex City at WWE’s fall classic.
Most “don’t want none” from Styles, but The Phenomenal One has never faced anyone like The Conqueror. Styles had best be watching with the rest of us when Lesnar and Heyman make their red brand return.
– WWE Superstar John Cena took to Twitter to promote the release of his new movie “Daddy’s Home 2” which hits theaters today. Cena will reprise his role from the first film as he co-stars alongside Mark Wahlberg, Will Ferrell, Mel Gibson, John Lithgow and more:
The cast of @DaddysHome is absolutely incredible. Funny, charming, & such a pleasure to work with. I think they’ve made something everyone will enjoy. It’s out TODAY in theaters! https://t.co/AeOLzOGCf6
Philadelphia’s Rocky Balboa statue is about to get upstaged.
The city of West Newbury, Massachusetts is gearing up to honor its most famous son, John Cena, with a statue. Local residents have been petitioning for the city to erect a statue in Cena’s honor. This week, pamphlets and bronze Cena action figures are being distributed announcing that “our hero is finally being recognized with a statue.”
In addition to being a 16 time world champion and his Hollywood career taking off, John Cena is an inspiration to millions of people around the world. A true humanitarian, Cena has granted over 500 Make-A-Wish requests.
The pamphlet being distributed in West Newbury reads:
Can’t See John Cena? You Soon Will!
He’ a 16 time world champion. He’s been in movies. He’s even had his own rap album [You Can’t See Me, 2005].
And now, thanks to thousands of petitions from fans in his home town of West Newbury, our hero is finally being recognized with a statue.”
Here’s a photo of the pamphlet and bronze action figure that’s being distributed locally, courtesy of Reddit user The_Magic:
WWE returns to Madison Square Garden on December 26th for the annual holiday tour. MSG has announced several top matches for the show, including:
John Cena vs. Samoa Joe
The Shield vs. Bray Wyatt & The Bar
Braun Strowman vs. Kane
Other Superstars advertised to appear include Finn Balor, The Miz, Sasha Banks, Alexa Bliss, Asuka, Bayley, Matt Hardy, Enzo Amore and more.
John Cena and Samoa Joe had been working together on live events this summer prior to Samoa Joe suffering a knee injury that kept him out for several months. House show matchups are often an indication of feuds we’ll see on WWE television in the months to come, so fans hoping for a full Cena vs. Joe program might be in luck.
Two-time WWE Hall Of Famer Ric Flair’s “30 For 30” special aired last night on ESPN. The special documented the life and career of “The Nature Boy,” who is recognized as one of the greatest to ever step into the ring. Here are some reactions to the documentary from the wrestling world:
John Cena’s role for Survivor Series has been revealed.
On Wednesday morning, SmackDown Live Commissioner Shane McMahon announced that “free agent” John Cena will be the 5th and final member of Team SmackDown in the men’s traditional team elimination match.
Further proving #SDLive is the superior brand, I'm happy to announce @JohnCena will be the 5th member of Team Smackdown at #SurvivorSeries.
It had been rumored that John Cena would be the guest referee for the Brock Lesnar vs. Jinder Mahal main event, but WWE apparently changed course and decided to book a title change for Tuesday’s SmackDown, setting up Universal Champion Brock Lesnar vs. new WWE Champion AJ Styles.
Rusev, who had been campaigning for the final open spot on Team SmackDown, joked that Cena qualified for the match fair and square.
Congrats to my friend John Cena who qualified for the survivor series fair and square…… go get them TIGER
– The Bella Twins’ YouTube channel uploaded the latest installment of John Cena’s “Auto Geek” series, in which he shows off what he purchased with his first WWE paycheck – a 1989 Jeep Wrangler:
– Tonight is the debut of two-time WWE Hall Of Famer Ric Flair’s ESPN “30 For 30” documentary which airs at 10pm EST. Here’s a clip of Flair discussing the documentary and what to expect from the film:
WWE Superstar John Cena recently did an interview with Parade to discuss a variety of topics. “The Leader Of The Cenation” talked about his work with Make-A-Wish, Nikki Bella’s softer side, and how he has been learning to play the piano. You can check out the highlights here below:
His work with Make-A-Wish:
“The excitement, it’s indescribable. That I’m at the very end of the story, as the wish? That’s absurd to think about.”
“We all have to earn a living, but if you can also affect people? That’s a good deal. It gives me the feeling like, yeah, I’m in the right place and I’m doing the right thing with my life.”
Nikki Bella showing her softer side:
“In the WWE, oftentimes you want people to think, like, ‘Oh, I’m a tough guy.’ ” But now, he says, he knows “a tough guy is somebody who can hold a woman’s hand.”
Learning to play the piano:
“I tell myself, ‘You can surf the web for 15 minutes, or put the time toward a skill.’ What am I gonna learn in 15 minutes? Your first 15 minutes, maybe where the middle C note is. But after about 125 hours, you learn how to play the piano.”
You can check out Cena’s full interview with Parade by clicking here.
The Bella Twins spoke with Extra TV this week to promote the return of Total Divas.
During the discussion, Nikki spoke about her upcoming wedding to John Cena. Without revealing too many specifics, Nikki revealed that she and Cena have changed the date and location of the wedding.
She added that she wants to have “the most amazing first dance ever.”
The WWE power couple got engaged in the ring back in April at WrestleMania 33.
As we’ve previously reported, WWE wants to add a Special Guest Referee to WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar and WWE Champion Jinder Mahal’s singles match at Survivor Series next month. Original rumors had John Cena leading the line of contenders for the position, setting up a possible Cena vs. Mahal match down the road. According to a recent report from Wrestling Observer Newsletter, however, two much bigger names could be in the running as well.
Vince McMahon is reportedly also considering WWE Hall Of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock for the Guest Referee role. There are currently no updates on the conversations between WWE and The Rock or Austin. The issue with The Rock, of course, would be his schedule given how busy he is with various projects, as well as how much he’d have to be paid.
If either Rock or Austin take the job it’s very unlikely a program with Lesnar comes out of the match, however, the Observer notes that there is great intrigue in a possible Lesnar vs. Austin feud. We’ll keep you updated as we learn more…
Former WWE Divas Champion Nikki Bella recently did an interview with FOX News to talk about a variety of topics. Bella discussed the changes she and 16-time WWE World Champion John Cena have had to make to their wedding, and the recent mumps outbreak in the WWE locker room that forced major changes to this past weekend’s TLC PPV. Here are the highlights:
Changes that needed to be made to she and John Cena’s wedding:
“We changed the date and location,” she said, saying it was because of “just schedules and stuff.” She didn’t offer any more details about the wedding.
Mumps in the WWE locker room:
“So I heard about this and I guess I’m happy that I’m not there right now,” she said. “I actually haven’t talked to my [wrestling] friends but I guess something crazy’s going around. Thank God he’s been on the movie set and not in the ring so we both are clear of it.”

For the past several years WWE fans have grown annoyed by John Cena’s old over-the-top babyface gimmick, with many wrestling fans claiming they’d like him a lot more if he turned heel. Cena has been very vocal on not wanting to turn heel over the years, especially with the immense following of children “The Leader Of The Cenation” has behind him. While a heel turn for Cena seems to be a big no no with WWE officials right now, it turns out Vince McMahon actually came very close to pulling the trigger on the move.
Former WWE writer Kevin Eck was recently a guest on The Wade Keller Pro Wrestling Podcast and revealed that a heel turn for Cena was actually nearly pulled off as he would enter a program with Sheamus. After realizing Cena had just landed a new clothing deal with K-Mart, however, the plan was quickly trashed:
“Vince had agreed to do it, but then he changed his mind and said that we can’t do it,” Eck said. “This was back around the time when McMahon was really looking at Sheamus to get his push. The question was if we turn John Cena heel then who is he going to work with, who will be the top babyface?
“That was the feeling back then, then we came up with some scenarios, and believe it or not, Cena was on board with it, but right around that time there was a big clothing line for John Cena at K-Mart, and Vince McMahon was like, ‘Oh Jesus Christ, he has a deal with KMart, and now we’re going to turn him heel?’ So, KMart is to blame for Cena not turning heel,” Eck said. “During a meeting once Vince had a huge smile on his face, and he tells everyone that I know you’ve wanted John Cena as a heel for a long time, but we just can’t turn him heel and that was the end of that.”
You can listen to Eck’s interview on The Wade Keller Pro Wrestling Podcast by clicking here.
WWE Champion Jinder Mahal has issued a formal challenge to John Cena for a match at WrestleMania 34.
Mahal hosed an #AskJinder Q&A session on Twitter over the weekend and was asked who his ideal opponent was for WM34. In his response, Mahal said he fully intends to be WWE Champion through next year’s big event and issued an ‘official challenge.’
“I fully intend on being WWE Champion, come WrestleMania, and even after WrestleMania. So, John Cena, this is an official challenge to you.”
It’s a bold move by the WWE Champion, who looks to solidify his spot in main events by calling out the biggest name in WWE.
WrestleMania 34 takes place on Sunday, April 8th, 2018 from New Orleans, Louisiana.
You can check out footage of his challenge embedded below:
Former WWE Superstar Ryback recently had an interview with The Domenick Nati Show where he talked about several WWE related topics and more. Below are some of the highlights from his interview:
If John Cena should retire from pro wrestling and focus on his acting career:
“John obviously knows what he’s doing; he’s a big boy, He’s been fortunate to have a lot of opportunities outside of wrestling where he can not take on that full schedule. He did it for a long, long time, so I think it’s great he’s doing other things outside of wrestling. I think as everyone can see, when you allow other talents the opportunity to succeed, they will always step up time and time again.”
Possibly pursuing a career in the acting field:
“I have no ambition or drive for any of that kind of stuff… Not to say that I wouldn’t do it, because I have a guy that is out looking (for acting opportunities), but it’s just not on the top of my agenda right now. Growing my Feed Me More nutrition is my number-one goal, and getting healthy”
His Feed Me More nutrition line:
“My main focus has been on my Feed Me More nutrition line, with it being on Amazon has been huge for me and I’m getting ready to launch over in the U.K. in the upcoming weeks,” he said. “It’s an every day job, but I love being home and being active on it. And letting my body heal up and rest from the years of abuse, I had some stem cell surgery. There’s a lot going on, but I’m mainly business-oriented right now.”
– While Shane McMahon is particularly liked by many of his fans for his risk-taking abilities and all the crazy spots he pulls off in his matches, it appears not everybody is pleased with this.
WWE Hall Of Famer “Superstar” Billy Graham recently made a post from his Facebook acount about McMahon. In the post as seen below, he ripped off Shane for jumping from the cell during his match against Kevin Owens for a ‘cheap pop’:
Shane “Idiot” McMahon
“As always, the WWE will first lie to us, then when they get caught they tell the fans the truth. I consider Shane McMahon to be nothing more than a rich man’s foolish son. In a deliberate attempt to deceive us, the WWE released a statement that daddy’s little son was just fine after this leap below and now they have told us that he really is hurt. Disgusting and I have no sympathy for this spoiled brat and maybe he wont try to defy gravity ever again for a worthless, meaningless, and dumb as Hell cheap pop.”
– The upcoming comedy movie starring WWE Star John Cena which was previously titled The Pact has now been renamed to Blockers. You can check out the latest red band trailer of the movie below which is about three parents who are trying to stop their daughters from losing their virginity on prom night:
Former WWE Champion Roman Reigns recently spoke with UK Mirror to talk about various topics. Here are the highlights:
Beating Cena at No Mercy:
“It was a huge honour. You don’t really get to face people like John Cena often. He’s definitely a rare breed, we had a lot of heavy things to say to each other building into the match, but I think at the end of the day we both came out of it with a lot of respect for each other, not only for what we do in the ring, but what we do for the company and all the various responsibilities that come with this role. I’m proud to say that I was able to beat an athlete and a competitor, a superstar and a role model like John Cena, especially in hindsight, someone who has been on top of the mountain for 15 years. He said it, it’s not just like he was wrestling at a certain level, he was at the elite level. I don’t think anybody else is going to have a career like John Cena, to be able to hold the fort down for 15 years, it seems superhuman. I’m just really glad I was able to display my skill and my talent in the ring and we had a really great match and I’m very proud of it.”
Learning from Cena:
“I think I learned that I’m up for any challenge. That was one of the biggest challenges for me and that’s what great competitors do. If I had to lower myself to compete with John Cena, then there’s no point in competing with John Cena. But what he did, like any great competitor, any great superstar, he forced me to step up. As he said, ‘you either step up or you step aside’. I’m very proud to show that I’m able to do these different things. For a long time my strength has always been in the ring and I haven’t had these barn burner promos that everybody talks about the next day. But, I know inside that I’m able to step up. I know what I have ability wise and talent wise and I think that’s all that John was trying to do, he wanted to bring out the best in me and I think he did that and I’m very grateful for that. I think that’s my job, that’s the most important thing about being the top guy, that you lift everybody up, that you bring everybody up to that standard. It can’t be the other way around because if that’s the case, then the whole structure is off. I think he did a great job of lighting a fire under my ass and I think I did a great job of stepping up to the occasion and we made great TV for it.”
His WrestleMania dream matches:
“Yeah I mean, when I first heard about the match with Cena, I immediately was thinking ‘man, let’s save this, let’s do this at WrestleMania’. But when the time is right, the time is right. But in the same light, I can only see me and Rock going at WrestleMania. Not only because of his schedule, but just the level of that match and the level of superstar that he is and you know, where I’m trying to get. But we also have a deep family tie. We represent the same family tree and having the opportunity to represent our culture, there would obviously have to be a sit down and we would have to express how we feel and the light we want to do this in… because there’s a lot of people we represent watching. The last thing I want to do is make it confusing or anything like that. But at the end of the day, I know it’s a money match. And I’m the guy who is still in the ring, so if someone who isn’t in the ring every single night wants to come back in the ring, we now call it my yard, so he is going to have to come to me and then we’ll go from there. It won’t go down anywhere other than a WWE ring, that’s all I’m saying. If he wants to get it, then I’m not stepping back for anybody.”
After being defeated by Roman Reigns at No Mercy, it was speculated that John Cena will take some time off and return to WWE for their final Big 4 PPV of the year Survivor Series next month.
However, now it appears that the fans of the former World Champion will have to wait longer than earlier expected to see him returning back to a WWE ring.
Cena is no longer being advertised for the upcoming Non-Exclusive PPV and he has been replaced with Brock Lesnar, who wasn’t part of the lineup for the event so far.
Now the nearest show John is being advertised for is a Raw Brand WWE Live Event from Madison Square Garden, New York, on December 26th.
Interestingly he is also being advertised for a SmackDown Brand Live Event from Amalie Arena in Tampa, FL on December 30th, so it’s hard to say which Brand he will show up at when he finally makes his televised return.
This is not very surprising news as many speculated that the Leader Of Cenation will remain out of action for the remainder of the year ever since he landed a role in the Transformers Spin-Off Movie.
Currently, there is no news on when John Cena will make his televised return to the company and what storyline Officials have in mind for him upon his return.
TMZ cameras caught up with John Cena and Nikki Bella this week to discuss Nikki’s role on Dancing With The Stars, if she’s taught Cena any of her dance moves, Cena’s WWE future and more.
When asked if he’s considering retirement, Cena played it cool and responded, “from what?” The camera man clarified his question and asked if he’s going to retire from WWE.
Ever the company man, Cena said, “No, never. They’re family.”
With Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson repeatedly saying that he might run for United States President one day, TMZ asked Cena if he’d ever try his hand at politics. Cena shot down the notion, joking, that there’s “too much politics” involved.
John Cena was a keynote speaker at the Inbound 2017 conference in Boston, MA earlier today. The event lasts three days and brings together 21,000 of the world’s most motivated marketers and salespeople.
Cena gave a talk full of inspiration quotes about leadership and business. He also towed the company line that WWE is not a wrestling company, but an entertainment company that puts smiles on faces.
“Our company is not a wrestling company, we are an entertainment company. Join us suspending disbelief. Our company puts smiles on faces. What does your company do?”
