John Cena Co-Producing Unscripted Reality TV Series

John Cena is branching has signed a development deal with Leftfield Pictures (“Pawn Stars”) to develop unscripted reality TV shows, according to a report by Variety.

According to Cena, the first concept revolves “mostly around unknown individuals from all walks of life with compelling stories to tell.” Cena was inspired to create stories around real people because “there’s a lot more opportunity in reality to package lives the way they already are.”

Cena and Leftfield Pictures have several ideas in the works. “We have a few already in the pipeline, a few irons in the fire,” said Cena. There was no mention of Cena appearing on camera for the first show, but it’s an option in the future.

The developmental deal does not currently involve WWE, although there is an option for the company to participate in projects should they choose to.

Leftfield CEO Brent Montgomery described Cena as one of the “aggressive entrepreneurs looking for creative ways to reach new markets and tell compelling, unconventional stories” they typically work with.

Once the show wrapped up, John Cena and Dean Ambrose continued their brawl with Kane, which eventually led to “The Hulkster” coming out and doing his muscle poses with Cena.

  • John Cena Talks About CM Punk’s WWE Legacy, WWE 2K15

WWE Superstar John Cena was recently interviewed by Fighting Spirit Magazine to promote the new WWE 2K15 video game. When asked about CM Punk’s inclusion in the game, Cena said he’s glad Punk’s in the game since he did leave his mark in WWE in recent years.

“Whether he’s here or not, he’s certainly left a mark in WWE,. He’s got to be in the game, and it’s cool that that moment is not forgotten.”

He also talked about who he would like to face in the game.

“There are a lot of first time scenarios, such as with Sting. The fact that you can use current me or the old [Doctor of Thuganomics] is always good, and I like rivalry mode [vs CM Punk] because 2K listened to the WWE Universe as to which they wanted most. You can relive those rivalries and stories that went along with them.”

WWE 2K15 is scheduled for release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on October 28th in North America and October 31st in Europe, and on Playstation 4 and Xbox One on November 18th in North America, and on November 21st in Europe.

  • Backstage News On WWE Protecting Cena & Orton, News On HIAC Main Events

WWE officials were reportedly very careful not to portray the John Cena vs. Randy Orton match at the upcoming Hell In A Cell pay-per-view as the “loser’s match.”

Announcers on Monday’s RAW were apparently told never to say the “loser” of the Cena vs. Dean Ambrose contract on a pole match would be facing Orton. Orton also kept referring to his match as the “main event.”

While it’s possible that Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins goes on last at the pay-per-view, it’s said that both Hell In A Cell matches will be promoted equally.

Regarding Cena vs. Orton, this will be the ninth time that the two have competed in a singles match on a WWE pay-per-view. Each man has won three of their meeting, while each also picked up a win by disqualification.

  • Pros and Cons: The Hell in a Cell Double Main Event

The Seth Rollins/John Cena/Dean Ambrose hate triangle continued last night on Raw, with Dean Ambrose prevailing over John Cena to secure his spot in the main event at Hell in a Cell.

It was also announced that John Cena would square off against Randy Orton in the other half of the double main event. However, did the company make the right call by going with Ambrose over Cena? Here are the pros and cons of each main event, allowing for you to make the decision.

    John Cena vs. Randy Orton

    f56553b90391e05c294bff138f84ecc7

Pros: These guys have faced each other too many times to count, including a multi-month program earlier in the year, so the two veterans should have excellent chemistry together.

Adding the Hell in a Cell stipulation should also help spice up the contest, as fans grew tired during their last meeting at the Royal Rumble. In all, by having two Hell in a Cell contests, it should perfectly juxtapose the talent of yesterday (Cena and Orton) with the talent of tomorrow (Rollins and Ambrose).

Cons: As previously mentioned, fans practically booed Cena and Orton out of the building in January. It seems like this has the chance of being a filler main event, as there is essentially no build to the matchup and fans have already seen the two square off more times than they can remember. Additionally, a double main event that features two Hell in a Cell matches could be a bit overkill.

Two Main Events Confirmed For WWE Hell In A Cell Pay-Per-View

As seen on Monday’s edition of WWE RAW in Atlanta, Georgia, the two main events for the upcoming WWE Hell In A Cell pay-per-view were made official.

As a result of the outcome of the RAW main event, Dean Ambrose will challenge Seth Rollins inside the cell at the Hell In A Cell pay-per-view.

Due to his loss, John Cena will take on Randy Orton — also inside the cell — at the Hell In A Cell pay-per-view.

Both matches were made official on this week’s edition of WWE RAW.

  • Eric Bischoff Interview: Randy Savage’s Fallout With Vince McMahon, Cena Turning Heel & More

Former WCW President Eric Bischoff spoke to AlternativeNation.net this week about a number of topics, including David Arquette’s WCW Title win, how Vince Russo analyzes ratings, Triple H’s leadership in WWE, Randy Savage’s fallout with WWE, Global Force Wrestling and more. Here are some highlights of what he said about:

Randy Savage’s Fallout With Vince McMahon:

“I think the general attitudes, and feelings – I don’t want to suggest I know Vince McMahon, because I don’t. I’ve met him, I’ve worked with him, I’ve had some good conversations with him. I have what I think is a pretty good perspective and read on him, but by no means do I really know him or understand him completely, but I think at his core, Vince is a very loyal person. He understands the nature of the business, and the mentality in it. There have been so many times where people who have left, or left under good circumstances, or in many cases have done things that were pretty shitty to him, he’s brought them back, and given them a soft place to land. But, you don’t know that, until you land there (laughs), you don’t know until you come back. For the most part, I think the feeling was that once you leave Vince, and go to the competitor, that you had burned a bridge. I think in retrospect that’s not true, clearly, but at the time I think Randy’s perception was that it was over, it was done, and Vince would never bring him back.”

Similarities between Vince & Stephanie McMahon:

“Vince was very, and probably still is, demanding of Stephanie. I think there’s one thing that I saw in Stephanie that made me think that she probably at some point could be Mini Me (laughs), so to speak, and I don’t mean that derisively, but she has a lot of Vince’s same personality traits and characteristics. She’s super-intense, she has an incredible work ethic, she is very strong willed, and she knows what she wants, and what she likes. I saw that when I watched her produce segments, I saw that when I watched her produce my segments. I watched that when I had her rehearse me over and over and over again, until she heard an inflection exactly the way she wanted to hear that inflection. That part of her personality is very similar to Vince’s, it was very very particular, so I saw indications of that early on, but I didn’t have an occasion to see that same thing out of Triple H, because he was probably 75 percent talent, and 25 percent in the circle so to speak.”

Comparing Hulk Hogan’s nWo Heel Turn To A Potential John Cena Heel Turn:

“You’ve got to put everything in the proper context. There were no NWO shirts for sale before I turned Hulk Hogan heel. One disadvantage I had when I launched Nitro, compared to WWE, is that they had very sophisticated licensing and merchandise, WCW didn’t have any. This is one of the reasons I had to guarantee contracts, because if I didn’t guarantee how much money somebody was going to make, there was no chance in hell they were going to make enough to live off of if it was in part based on licensing and merchandising that didn’t exist. It is what it is, and was what it was, based on what I inherited, when I inherited it. But it was also an advantage, because I didn’t have to risk the same type of financial impact that for example WWE might be analyzing, ‘Okay, what happens if John Cena merchandise goes away?’ I didn’t have that challenge, because I wasn’t making any anyways. I had nowhere to go but up.”

Nikki Bella Denies She & John Cena Are Engaged, Talks About Starting A Family

In the latest issue of Life and Style Magazine, WWE Diva and Total Divas star Nikki Bella is denying that she and John Cena are engaged. She told the magazine:

“John is in a place where he doesn’t see marriage. I respect his decision right now because I’m happy.”

Even though Cena has claimed he never wants to get married again, Nikki still hopes she can change his mind and wants to have a family with him one day.

“I do want to get married and I want to have kids — and I want to have all that with John. I hope one day he wants those things!”

The full interview will appear in the new issue of Life and Style Magazine, available on newsstands tomorrow.

Dean Ambrose Says Some Of The Attitude Era Sucked, Talks John Cena’s Character

The following are highlights of a new Trib Live interview with Dean Ambrose:

On some Superstars being predictable: “There’s a lot of guys in WWE, you would know who they are, you know you’re going to see the same thing every single match. You know you’re going to hear the same thing every time they pick up a microphone. You know John Cena is never going to get mad at you no matter what you do. You could steal his dog or set his house on fire and he’s not going to get all that mad at you. He’s going to come out and do the same thing he always does. Me, I’m not like that. I get pretty upset pretty quickly.”

I don’t like having an entrance or anything like that too set in stone. A lot of guys come out and have the exact little dance or exact little thing that goes off at the right time with the pyro. What if I’m not in the mood to do my little dance this week?”

On the Attitude Era: “I don’t like my wrestling or entertainment in general to be too clean or predictable for me as a fan. When I say clean, I’m not talking about dirty jokes, middle fingers and stuff like that. I’m actually not even a big fan of that.

A lot of people talk about the attitude era being so great but a lot of it was terrible crap, sex jokes and over-the-top terrible bad comedy. It was Jerry Springer-like. They made a joke about a woman’s breasts. Hilarious, but where’s the wrestling? I look back on a lot of stuff now, and I’m like where’s the wrestling? It’s just a lot of crappy jokes.”

Brock Lesnar: The Worst Title Reign Ever?

Since capturing the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, Brock Lesnar has been virtually invisible. Aside from a few pre-taped interviews, Lesnar has yet to appear since retaining his title last month at Night of Champions.

The latest reports indicate that Lesnar will continue to wear his invisibility cloak, as he is not scheduled to appear again on television until January, meaning the title will likely not be defended for the next three pay-per-views.

It appears that Lesnar and Heyman will not return to television until next year.

It appears that Lesnar and Heyman will not return to television until next year.

With an absent champion and a highly dissatisfied fan base, my question is simple: Is Brock Lesnar’s title run the worst of all-time? In my opinion, it has all the ingredients to take home the honor.

Not only has Lesnar’s title run not been memorable thus far, it doesn’t make sense from either a business or storyline perspective.

On the business front, Raw has gone off a cliff over the past few months. Fans have expressed their displeasure online, crowds are chanting “This is stupid,” and the rating for last week’s episode of Raw was the lowest since 2012.

Although the company wasn’t exactly serving up filet mignon over the summer, there’s no denying that it was a bit tastier than the rump roast they’ve been dishing out over the past few weeks. I also think it is no coincidence that the downturn in the quality of Raw directly coincided with Brock Lesnar becoming champion.

Backstage Update On Brock Lesnar’s Next Feud, Plans For Cena At WrestleMania 31

At one point, WWE was planning on having Brock Lesnar return for a brief feud over the WWE World Heavyweight Championship with Big Show. Apparently, that is no longer in the plans and will not be happening.

Lesnar is not scheduled to make his return to WWE until January to begin promoting his Royal Rumble title defense, which is expected to be against John Cena.

It’s been reported that Cena may face Rusev at WrestleMania 31 next year, so the belief is that if they wanted to, WWE could have Rusev cost Cena his match with Lesnar at the Rumble, setting up Cena-Rusev at WrestleMania.
