NJPW G1 Climax 29 Day 4 Results

Welcome to our ongoing Live Results of NJPW G1 Climax 29 Day 4. This will be updated with results and new points standings throughout the event.

New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s 29th G1 Climax tournament continued today and will run until Day 19 on August 12. Twenty wrestlers compete in blocks of ten against every other wrestler in their block. They gain 2 points for a victory and 1 point for a draw. The most dominant wrestler in each block will move on to a final match, with winner getting an opportunity to challenge for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship at Wrestle Kingdom 14 in the Tokyo Dome in January 2020.

One can watch this event on NJPW World with commentary in either English or Japanese.

Kota Ibushi & Jushin Thunder Liger defeated Shota Umino & Yota Tsuji
Jushin Thunder Liger’s entrance got a great reaction from the crowd, as expected since this is likely Liger’s last match ever in Hokkaido Prefecture. The match began with Liger stretching Umino out in the mat, then transitioned into Ibushi and Tsuji trading hard hits and slaps. Tsuji breaking up Liger’s Romero Special on Umino got heavy boos from the audience. Tsuji got a lot of offence in on Ibushi, including a turning body slam and a spear, then attempted to put him in the Boston crab only to get it broken by slaps. Kota Ibushi submitted Yota Tsuji with a single-leg Boston crab at 8:19. Liger then cut a promo stating that, since he’s retiring in six months, this is his last match in Hokkaido, but he hopes that all the fans will support him wherever he goes.

Los Ingobernables de Japon (EVIL, SANADA & BUSHI) def. Tomoaki Honma, Toa Henare & Ren Narita
EVIL entered without his scythe. He was probably not allowed to bring it with him on the flight from Tokyo to Sapporo. Toa Henare hit a stalling suplex on SANADA and he hit a double Kokeshi on BUSHI with Tomoaki Honma. This was a short encounter. after the match, EVIL stared down SANADA, his stable mate who he has as his next G1 Climax match. BUSHI pinned Ren Narita after an M-X at 7:18. He then tried to hit SANADA with the EVIL, but SANADA reversed it into the Skull End, then they broke apart.

Suzukigun (Zack Sabre Jr., Lance Archer, Minoru Suzuki & Yoshinobu Kanemaru) def. Hiroshi Tanahashi, KENTA, Clark Connors & Karl Fredericks
Suzukigun attacked Tanahashi, KENTA, and the LA Dojo young lions before the bell, with Lance Archer going after KENTA and Sabre Jr. going after Tanahashi. Karl Fredericks managed to floor Minoru Suzuki with a shoulder tackle, only to get caught in a rope-hung armbar, and then get pulled out of the ring and be pummeled with chairs and sections of the ring barricade. Lance Archer briefly joined the English commentary team. Tanahashi and Zack Sabre Jr. went after each other with dueling cobra twists. Clark Connors put Yoshinobu Kanemaru in a Boston crab and Suzuki kicked him in the face to break the hold, but he held it and bravely asked for more. Yoshinobu Kanemaru pinned Clark Connors after a Deep Impact at 11:32.

CHAOS (Kazuchika Okada & YOSHI-HASHI) defeated Bullet Club (Bad Luck Fale & Chase Owens)
YOSHI-HASHI spent most of the match getting beaten up by Chase Owens and Bad Luck Fale, until he hit a dropkick to Fale’s knee to enable the hot tag to Kazuchika Okada. Okada’s running shoulder tackle did not knock Fale down, but his body slam did. Owens nearly hit a package piledriver on Okada, but Okada reversed it as YOSHI-HASHI hit a big lariat on Fale that sent both of them tumbling out of the ring. Okada pinned Chase Owens with a Rainmaker at 8:43.

G1 Climax 29 B Block Match: Shingo Takagi [2] defeated Toru Yano [2]
Shingo Takagi urged Toru Yano to remove his t-shirt for this bout. He did so, only for Takagi to attack him in the process. He then tried to put his shirt on Takagi’s head and roll him up, but failed. Yano left the ring and baited Takagi into coming out to attack him, only to run back to the ring and put a table and barricades in his way, but he still made it back before he could be counted out. Toru Yano went for his trademark red chair and threw it at Takagi, making it look as if Takagi had used it, but the referee did not believe him. BUSHI came out to distract the referee. Shingo Takagi pinned Toru Yano after a Pumping Bomber at 6:16. Shingo Takagi 2 points, Toru Yano 2 points.

G1 Climax 29 B Block Match: Juice Robinson [4] defeated Hirooki Goto [2]
Goto really does look much leaner after his vacation to the LA Dojo. After Juice managed to reverse the Ushigoroshi, they traded simultaneous lariats until Goto managed to get him down, then land the Ushigoroshi successfully. Goto went for the GTR but Juice broke it with strikes to the head. Juice went for his left hand-punch, but Goto headbutted his fist to block it, then Goto went for a punch of his own and Juice responded in kind. After a hard-hitting fight, Juice Robinson pinned Hirooki Goto after a Pulp Friction at 12:23.
Hirooki Goto 2 points, Juice Robinson 4 points.

G1 Climax 29 B Block Match: Jon Moxley [4] defeated Jeff Cobb [0]
Moxley went after Cobb’s arms early to try and reduce his strength advantage, but his chops to the chest that followed seemed to have little effect on Cobb. Moxley looked under the ring for a table, but either changed his mind or couldn’t find one. After a diving elbow drop to a standing Cobb, Moxley went for the Death Rider but was unable to get Cobb off his feet. After a running knee to the head, Jon Moxley pinned Jeff Cobb after a rope-hung Death Rider at 8:54. Jeff Cobb 0 points, Jon Moxley 4 points.

G1 Climax 29 B Block Match: Tomohiro Ishii [4] defeated Jay White [0]
When the match began, White went to the outside and taunted Cobb to come out with him. Ishii left the ring and then threatened to attack Gedo, which provoked White into finally retaliating. At one point, White landed a DDT on Ishii that landed him right on top of his head. When they had a battle of forearms, Ishii managed to knock him down. White would get the upper hand only for Ishii to come back and ask to be hit harder. The crowd very hot for Ishii to win. White went for the Blade Runner, but Ishii reversed it into a Complete Shot, followed by a sliding lariat and a brainbuster to pin Jay White at 19:13. Jay White 0 points, Tomohiro Ishii 4 points.

G1 Climax 29 B Block Match: Taichi [2] defeated Tetsuya Naito [0]
To start the match, Naito laid down in the center of the ring, telling Taichi to pin him. Taichi went for the pin only for Naito to roll him up for a 2-count.A back and forth period transpired with Naito’s quick and precise offence against Taichi’s hard kicks. Taichi teased using the retired Takashi Iizuka’s Iron Finger from Hell, but Naito managed to knock it away from him. Naito went for the Destino but Taichi countered it and floored him with a high kick and then a Ganso bomb. After a pop-up low blow that the referee didn’t see, Naito went for a Destino but Taichi reversed it into Black Mephisto. Taichi finally managed to hit Naito with the Iron Finger From Hell into a Last Ride powerbomb for the win at 21:01. Tetsuya Naito 0 points, Taichi 2 points.

Jon Moxley To Do Sit-Down Interview With Jim Ross At Starrcast III

Jon Moxley is headed to Starrcast III as it was revealed on Thursday that the AEW (All Elite Wrestling) star will take part in an exclusive question-and-answer session hosted by Jim Ross. Moxley will also be available for meet-and-greets on Friday, August 30.

“As a wrestling fan, I couldn’t imagine a cooler experience than Starrcast,” Moxley told Sports Illustrated. “And whether it’s in the ring, on the mic, or in-person, the Jon Moxley experience is an authentic one. I’m living it 24-7, so that’s what you’re always going to get.“

The three-day Starrcast III convention is scheduled to take place from August 29 – September 1st at the Hyatt Regency Chicago. For ticket information, visit Starrcast.com

The legendary pro wrestling announcer hyped the interview by noting that no topic is off-limits.

“It will be an adventure,” said Ross. “Everything is on the table, there is nothing off-limits. Jon’s very astute on a variety of topics, and this should be a compelling piece of business.”

Moxley will be wrestling Kenny Omega in one of the top matches taking place at the AEW All Out pay-per-view event that takes place on Saturday, August 31st at the Sears Centre in Chicago, IL, which has already sold out.

Jon Moxley Says He’d Rather Work At Grocery Store Than Return To WWE Right Now

Jon Moxley was recently a guest on the Store Horsemen podcast where he spoke on a wide variety of topics. During the interview, he talked about whether or not he would ever consider returning to WWE.

This is where he noted that he can never say never for a return several years from now but he wouldn’t return to the company right now because of the current state that it’s in.

“I mean, you have to say, ‘never say never.” And that’s the answer everybody gives, you know? ‘Never say never,’ it’s like I cannot imagine the scenario right now. Like 15 years from now, 10 years from now, the whole thing could be different.

Who knows? The WWE that I left, I could never go back to, I would rather work at a grocery store.”

Since his departure from WWE, he has signed deals with AEW (All Elite Wrestling) and NJPW (New Japan Pro Wrestling). Moxley is preparing to compete in B-Block matches as part of this year’s NJPW G1 Climax Tournament. He’s not scheduled to wrestle at Saturday’s AEW Fight for the Fallen event.

Jim Ross Calls Jon Moxley AEW’s “Biggest Get,” Talks About Getting AEW Roster Ready For TNT Debut

Jon Moxley’s departure from WWE has allowed him to explore new opportunities. Since leaving, he has appeared in both New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) and All Elite Wrestling (AEW).

Despite a roster showing off Chris Jericho, Kenny Omega, Cody, and The Young Bucks, he was an undeniably significant acquisition for the burgeoning AEW.

According to Jim Ross, he may just be the “biggest get” for them.

Speaking to SiriusXM’s Busted Open Radio, Ross explained how Moxley’s presence in the locker room will bolster the company, both backstage and in the ring.

“[…] it’s the biggest get yet, for us,” Ross claimed. “Because of the timeliness of him coming fresh off WWE television, I know he wasn’t always overwhelmed with his creative, but he got a lot of TV time, he has a lot of name amenity, and more importantly he’s young, athletic, and passionate. And he seemingly comes into work with a chip on his shoulder, he’s perpetual motion at TV, he’s full of energy. He’s a big get, man.”

“They Ain’t Been To The Big Dance, Yet”

Looking to the future, Ross opens up about the reality facing the locker room when AEW debut on TNT.

“They [the AEW roster] may have great reputations in the independent scene. They may have cult followings with a small smattering of fans here, there, and yon because of their work in the indies, but they ain’t been to the big dance, yet,” Ross explained.

“We’re gonna get them to the big dance in October when we go on TNT every week. Live television, prime time, every week, in October. So hopefully we can help continue to mold, mentor, coach ’em up, be a good listener, give ’em some love and some positive attention and motivation, and by October, whoever sticks with the roster by then, is going to have a whole different perspective.”

He stressed that come October, the entire roster are in for a shock if they aren’t prepared for the schedule and reality of what a live TV show entails, and so they are working towards helping them adjust to that ahead of time.

Jon Moxley On Paul Heyman & Bischoff’s Roles As WWE Executive Directors

While Chris Jericho’s signing with AEW was still a shocking turn of events, Jon Moxley is the first actual star to have jumped ship from WWE to AEW. Many believe Moxley’s move and his comments about WWE’s creative process was one of the reasons why WWE brought back Eric Bischoff and Paul Heyman in the executive director role.

During a recent interview with Store Horseman, Jon Moxley talked about a number of things like every wrestler being different in the ring; AEW matches not being as overproduced as WWE and more. During the talk, the former WWE Employee also revealed his thoughts on the appointment of the new creative directors.

Moxley said that they have definitely made some kind of move and claimed that Heyman is really smart. Continuing, he said that this move sounds like a great idea and he hopes that Vince will let them do their ideas. He also talked about Eric Bischoff saying that Bischoff who was behind the NWO has also presided over some crappy WCW shows and he is probably very motivated to make everyone forget that part of his resume.

As we noted before, Paul Heyman started his stint as the Executive Director for Raw from last week’s episode itself. While he is not expected to take the full control of the show just yet, Heyman had input in segments such as the opening match between Bobby Lashley and Braun Strowman on Raw. On the other hand, Bischoff is not expected to begin his tenure right away and he is expected to take over things after the Extreme Rules PPV.

Apart from this, Jon Moxley also talked about how people are seeing the rise of AEW as the start of a new Monday Night Wars, and he said that it’s not going to be the case. He explained that it would be a fool’s errand to try and take WWE down and it wouldn’t be good for wrestling business.

Jon Moxley Talks WWE Matches Feeling Like Vince McMahon Was In Ring With Him

IWGP United States Champion Jon Moxley spoke with ESPN to talk about a wide range of pro wrestling topics as part of a feature article about his journey from WWE to NJPW.

During the interview, he spoke about the differences between NJPW and WWE, which is where he made some interesting comments about how it feels like WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon is in the ring with him when he wrestled under the WWE banner.

Moxley beat Juice Robinson for the IWGP US Championship in his NJPW in-ring debut at the Best of the Super Jr. Finals event on June 5 at Sumo Hall in Tokyo, Japan.

“[In WWE,] it’s almost like Vince is in the ring with you, the producer is in the ring with you,” Moxley told ESPN. “It’s like you have two little bubbles on your shoulder, like three heads in the ring. All of a sudden when I got in the ring [in New Japan], five minutes into the match I was like, there’s no chatter. There was no producer-ref-Vince chatter. It was like silence. And I didn’t expect that.”

Moxley continued by stating that he felt like he was alone again in the ring and then started beating Robinson down. He added that it was like what he had been used to.

Now, Moxley is preparing to compete in B-Block matches as part of this year’s NJPW G1 Climax Tournament.

Jon Moxley Shares Photo Of Scars From AEW Fyter Fest Match

Jon Moxley took some time to share a photo on his official Twitter account of the nasty scars that he received during his most recent match.

Moxley was able to pick up a win in his in-ring debut with AEW at the Fyter Fest event that aired on Bleacher Report Live when he beat Joey Janela in a non-sanctioned match.

During the match, Moxley took some crazy spots including getting slammed on barbed wire and thumbtacks. He shared this photo:

AEW will hold their next event, Fight for the Fallen, on July 13, 2019 from Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida. This is a charity event as the proceeds will be donated to victims of gun violence. As of this writing, Moxley doesn’t have a match lined up for this show. Here is the updated card:

  • Brandi Rhodes vs. Allie
  • Kenny Omega vs. Cima
  • Cody and Dustin Rhodes vs. The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson)
  • Hangman Page vs. Kip Sabian

Moxley will be wrestling Kenny Omega in one of the top matches taking place at the AEW All Out pay-per-view event that takes place on Saturday, August 31st at the Sears Centre in Chicago, IL, which has already sold out.

Roman Reigns Discusses Jon Moxley Signing With AEW

Former WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns recently did an interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated where he’ll talk about a wide range of pro wrestling topics.

Barrasso posted an excerpt from the interview on his official Twitter account before it’s published later this week. In the excerpt, The Big Dog commented on Jon Moxley leaving WWE for AEW.

This is where he noted that he’ll always be friends with Moxley, who went by the name of Dean Ambrose in WWE.

“I don’t think our working relationship is going to be what it used to be, but I’ll always love that guy, he’ll always be my close friend, and I wish the best for him,” Reigns said. We have a brotherhood, so I’m always cheering for him. I’ve shared so many great moments with Ambrose, or Mox. We have love for each other well beyond the wrestling, and it will always be that way.”

Moxley was successful in his in-ring debut with AEW (All Elite Wrestling) over the weekend when he beat Joey Janela in a non-sanctioned match at the Fyter Fest event.

The former WWE star will be wrestling Kenny Omega in one of the top matches taking place at the AEW All Out pay-per-view event next month.

Moxley, formerly known as Dean Ambrose from his time in WWE, made his promotional debut at their inaugural pay-per-view event, Double or Nothing, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Moxley will be wrestling former IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kenny Omega in one of the top matches taking place at the AEW All Out pay-per-view event that takes place on Saturday, August 31st at the Sears Centre in Chicago, IL, which has already sold out.

Moxley departed from WWE at the end of April as he decided not to sign a new contract with the company. He finished up with WWE when he wrestled at The Shield: Final Chapter event that aired on the WWE Network from a live event at the Tax Slayer Center in Moline, Illinois.

Moxley has also been working in New Japan Pro Wrestling as he beat Juice Robinson for the IWGP US Championship at the NJPW Best of the Super Jr. Finals event on June 5 at Sumo Hall in Tokyo, Japan.

WWE Stars Encouraged Jon Moxley To Participate In G1 Climax

In a recent interview with New Japan Pro Wrestling, Jon Moxley talked about being part of the G1 Climax, and his thoughts on Shinsuke Nakamura.

Although part of All Elite Wrestling’s roster, Jon Moxley is currently competing for NJPW’s G1 Climax tournament and is the IWGP United States Champion. He reveals that he wanted to follow in the footsteps of former WWE Superstars Chris Jericho and Cody Rhodes, as they inspired him to go to Japan.

“I tried to follow [the careers of Chris Jericho and Cody Rhodes]. When you travel in WWE, you’re kind of in a bubble and it’s difficult to follow along, but I did watch what I could. Then, when I knew I was leaving – Japan in general was definitely on my bucket list. I wanted to have a good run in Japan, and of course NJPW was the goal. So when I got the call from them, I was just like, ‘let’s go, put me on the airplane’.”

Moxley also revealed that current WWE stars Shinsuke Nakamura and Karl Anderson, who performed previously in NJPW, encouraged him to participate in the tournament.

“Well, Shinsuke Nakamura is in WWE and doing very well. I never got to wrestle him sadly, but he heard that I was likely going over to be in the G1, and he was very pleased,” Moxley said. “[He] said it was a great life experience. Karl Anderson, who I’ve actually been friends with since I was 18, since we’re both from Cincinnati, I asked him about the G1. A few others as well, and everybody was great and said, ‘yeah, go for it’.”

Moxley also had some praise for Nakamura. Moxley believes Nakamura has a differrent style but he fits well in the WWE because of his flamboyance.

“I think [Nakamura is] doing great there. Fans love him,” Moxley said. “It’s a different style, but he fits in well because he is charismatic, he is flamboyant. He can go, so whether it’s a New Japan ring or a WWE one he can do well anywhere.”

NJPW announced that the 2019 edition of the G1 Climax would take place from July 6 to August 12. The first night of the tournament will be held at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, marking the first time the tournament has been held outside of Japan. Like the previous year, the final three shows will be held at Nippon Budokan. Moxley announced that he will be part of the tournament at at Dominion 6.9 in Osaka-jo Hall. He will be participating in Block B.

Seth Rollins Responds To Jon Moxley’s Anti-WWE Comments

Recently, Seth Rollins has been defensive on behalf of WWE against the promotion’s critics. Up until now most of the Universal Champions comments had been made on social media but he recently sat down with SI.com and went into further detail regarding WWE’s critics and comments made by Jon Moxley.

“You can only sit back and read people bashing something you love for so long and sit there and take it and try to take the high road, so to speak,” Rollins said. “I’m real proud of what I do every single week, not just Mondays, but every single Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, really. I’m real proud of what I do and what our crew does and the effort they put forward.”

Rollins was also asked about comments the former Dean Ambrose made on Talk is Jericho and other podcasts.

Seth Rollins On Jon Moxley’s Comments

“Ambrose can do what he wants. He’s a big boy. He’s got his big boy pants on, he can go out there and say whatever he wants, but the bottom line is not everyone is equipped to handle the riggers of the WWE and the schedule and how it affects you mentally and emotionally,” Rollins continued. “Ambrose gave everything he had to the company for the entire time he was here. He put his heart and soul into the travel and the schedule and the injuries and the work in the ring and all that stuff, but at the end of the day, he took his ball and he went home or he went elsewhere, at least.”

Rollins would continue to talk about comments the wrestler now known as Jon Moxley made after leaving the company earlier this year.

“I think it’s a little presumptuous of him to get on a podcast and talk down about the company that gave him such opportunities, and he referenced some of those, he did talk about how he was thankful for the time he spent here and the fact that he was able to learn, meet his wife and all that good stuff.”

When asked, Rollins confirmed that he has not spoken to Moxley recently.

“No. And I don’t need to,” Rollins responded when asked if he’s spoke to Moxley about his comments. “Like I said, he’s grown man. He’s got his big boy pants on. He can do whatever he wants to do, he can say whatever he wants to say, he filled his contractual obligations here and there’s nothing but mutual love and respect for him.”

Jon Moxley Talks Ring Gear, NJPW Entrance, & Juice Robinson

Jon Moxley will head back to Japan for the second night of the G1 Climax tournament on July 13th. He’ll miss the scheduled first night of the tournament in Dallas due to AEW holding his rights in the United States. He sat down with NJPW1972.com to discuss his appearances in New Japan thus far and what he has in store for the upcoming tournament.

Moxley was asked about making his entrance through the crowd at the Best of the Super Juniors, something he often did during his time in WWE.

“That idea was presented to me and at first, I did think it was leaning a little on things I’d done in the past,” Moxley said. “But thinking a bit about it, it was definitely the right thing to do. I don’t want to be ‘too cool’ and ignore the things I’ve done. It is a cool entrance, and something I helped trail-blaze. The best thing about it was that it was a mood changer. The atmosphere instantly changed and I could feel that change.”

Jon Moxley Interview

Moxley was also asked about changing up his ring gear from what he wore in WWE.

“I wanted to change my look, for sure. When I was in WWE, I always wrestled in jeans, and there was a reason for that; everybody else had fancy tights and I wanted to be the opposite. More grungy, a street fighter type. But wrestling in jeans, honestly, it sucks. They’re hot, sweaty, hard to move in. I’m done with wrestling in jeans! It’s so much easier to wrestle in tights.”

Moxley was also asked about his relationship with Juice Robinson when they were both in FCW together.

“Yeah, many drinks were had in FCW. He was younger than me. Like the Young Lions are in NJPW, he was like that, whereas me and my partner, Seth Rollins, were more experienced. He latched onto us, rode in a car with us and tried to learn. We were pals going through the same experience, of training, of being stressed about whether you’re getting called up… we shared that experience together.”

Moxley then spoke about what it was like wrestling Juice after not having seen him in many years.

“We hadn’t seen each other for four years (when we wrestled) and when you wrestle, business is business. I’d been playing mind games with him too, you know. So for me, business is business and when the bell rings we can go for a beer, but I don’t think he wants that. He wants to come after me, and that’s fine.”

The full interview can be read here.

Juice Robinson Seeks Revenge Against Jon Moxley

Former IWGP United States Champion, Juice Robinson, wants revenge.

Specifically, he wants revenge against Jon Moxley, who recently bested Robinson for the IWGP US Championship.

Speaking with Sports Illustrated, Robinson explained his vendetta against one of New Japan Pro Wrestling’s latest high profile signings.

“”Revenge, that’s the word,” said Robinson. “I want revenge on Jon Moxley, and I’ll get it. He has so much charisma and an incredible persona in the ring, and that makes me level up. I want to wrestle Mox every f******g day.”

“I Have To Hold My Ground”

The two will clash during this summer’s G1 Climax tournament. Both men are entrants in the B Block, meaning a second encounter is inevitable.

Aware of this fact, Robinson commented that “My goal is to have that Moxley match at Ryogoku any time my number is called. I need to be able to rise to the occasion and immediately kick ass.”

He admits that, right now, he’s still not at the level of a Cody, a Chris Jericho, or a Jon Moxley, adding that he is doing everything he can to earn his spot and fit in.

“[…] I have to try to hold my ground. Big stars come in—Cody comes in, Jericho comes in, Moxley comes in. Now I’m not on their level, but I’m working to get there. I am trying to compete with some big stars, and I am doing everything I can to compete with them. Ospreay, Ibushi, Kenta, there are so many talented people here. I’m just a regular guy trying to fit in.”

Despite this attitude, he warns Moxley to “watch his back,” adding that he can’t wait to see him in the G1.

Steve Austin Addresses Infamous 2016 Podcast With Dean Ambrose

Steve Austin has opened up about his controversial 2016 ‘Stone Cold Podcast’ interview with the Dean Ambrose, now known as Jon Moxley.

The interview, which aired on the WWE Network, became an awkward, intense exchange between the two after Austin suggested that Moxley wasn’t pushing himself hard enough. He suggested that Moxley needed to find his edge—an issue addressed in his recent interview with Talk Is Jericho.

The discussion arose whilst Austin was interviewing All Elite Wrestling (AEW) President, Tony Khan, for his podcast, The Steve Austin Show.

“We Never Were On Track”

“For whatever reason, we got off on the wrong track,” Austin admitted. “It was a rough podcast. I have been carrying around 1,000 pounds on my back ever since that happened. I felt so bad about that interview, and I was leading the interview. I take the fault of it because I’m there to get people over and make them come off like a million bucks. We just came off on the wrong street and just kept taking left turns and never got back on track, well we never were on track. He had his reasons, and I had mine.”

Following the interview, Austin reached out to Moxley and ended up having a half hour conversation to clear the air.

“There was never any animosity towards us, I didn’t know how he felt about me, and I thought he might hate my guts,” he said. “We got back on the same page, he never hated my guts. I think he’s going to come down to Los Angeles whenever he wants to and we’re going to do the podcast together.”

Jon Moxley has admitted that he wouldn’t have hesitated to have hung up on any other interviewer. But because it was Austin, it gutted it out.

If, and when, the two sit down once more in the future, the end result will probably be dramatically different.

Elias Allegedly Cut The Promo Jon Moxley Hated

Jon Moxley spoke openly with Chris Jericho during his interview on Talk Is Jericho. One of the things addressed was his hatred of WWE’s scripted promos.

One script, however, was just too much for him, and so he pushed back. This promo, intended for an LA audience, contained the now infamous phrase “pooper scooper.” The note he got back from creative when he questioned them informed him that he needs to “read his promos verbatim and not try to rewrite them.”

It was noted by Dave Meltzer, of Wrestling Observer Radio, that this week’s Monday Night RAW featured the promo that Moxley had issues with.

With WWE returning to LA, Meltzer postulated that either WWE’s creative team or Vince McMahon himself liked the promo and simply wanted to use it.

The Superstar chosen? Elias.

Elias opened the show, insulting the Los Angeles audience with terms and insults seemingly lifted straight from the Moxley script.

A few things were tweaked or changed in order to modernize it—such as a reference to LA Laker, Anthony Davis—but the crux of the piece remained the same, with Elias calling the people “pieces of garbage” and “more toxic than the air.”

Elias was attacked by Seth Rollins before he had the chance to mention a pooper scooper.

Kenny Omega On AEW All Out Match Serving As Real Test For Jon Moxley

Kenny Omega recently spoke with Gamespot.com to talk about topics relating to All Elite Wrestling.

During the interview, he talked about wrestling Jon Moxley in one of the top matches taking place at the AEW All Out pay-per-view event that takes place on Saturday, August 31st at the Sears Centre in Chicago, IL, which has already sold out.

Omega started out by stating that Moxley can talk the best game in the world and brawl with the best of them but he has made his name on having great wrestling matches that are long.

Omega touted the fact that he can do all styles of professional wrestling. Omega believes that this match will serve as a real test for Moxley under the AEW banner.

“Now, finally, he has the platform to show if he can be that multifaceted tool. So this is going to be the grandest stage for him, and this is going to be the biggest test for him as well. Yes, he can brawl. Yes, he can talk. But now, can he wrestle?

Now, can he win? Now, can he fight? Now, can he have the type of performances that AEW is going to command from him? This is the real test.”

Jon Moxley to Miss NJPW G1 Climax Day 1 in Dallas

New Japan Pro-Wrestling has announced that IWGP US Heavyweight Champion Jon Moxley will not be in a match on the first day of the G1 Climax 29 tournament at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas on July 6th. Also, Moxley will not attend the pre-G1 press conference on July 5th, which normally features speeches from all participants in the tournament.

Jon Moxley was confirmed to be one of the twenty participants in the G1 Climax 29, competing in Block B. The G1 Climax follows a format of having five tournament matches per day, from the A Block on odd-numbered days and the B Block on even-numbered days. Members of the other block would wrestle in tag team matches on opposite sides of their next opponent in the tournament.

If Moxley did participate in the first day of the tournament, he would probably have been in a tag team match against his first opponent in the B Block, Taichi, and another member of the Suzuki-gun faction. His teammate would likely have been Shota Umino, the NJPW trainee who Moxley recently adopted as his partner and assistant.

The schedule for Jon Moxley’s opponents on each of the G1 Climax 29’s B Block days is as follows. All of his matches will be streamed live on NJPW World.

  • Day 2 (July 13): Taichi
  • Day 4 (July 15): Jeff Cobb
  • Day 6 (July 19): Tomohiro Ishii
  • Day 8 (July 24): Shingo Takagi
  • Day 10 (July 28): Tetsuya Naito
  • Day 12 (August 1): Toru Yano
  • Day 14 (August 4): Jay White
  • Day 16 (August 8): Hirooki Goto
  • Day 18 (August 11): Juice Robinson

Seth Rollins Believes Fans Haven’t Seen The Last of Him & Jon Moxley

WWE Universal Champion Seth Rollins did a recent interview with WrestlingAC.com where he talked about a wide range of topics that include the departure of Jon Moxley, formerly known as Dean Ambrose from WWE.

Moxley departed from WWE at the end of April as he had decided to not sign a new contract with the company. WWE officials offered him a five-year contract that was more than seven figures per year, but Moxley reportedly turned it down.

Moxley has since made his AEW (All Elite Wrestling) debut and will be making his in-ring debut at the Fyter Fest event next weekend. He’s also worked a series of matches under the NJPW banner.

Near the end of the interview, Rollins talked about how he has a feeling that The Shield (himself, Moxley, and Roman Reigns) will unite again to be together forever. He was also asked about a potential Shield reunion.

This is where he noted that you can never rule it out and “I have that feeling inside me that we have not seen the end between me and Dean Ambrose.”

Jon Moxley Discusses Interest In G1 Climax, Claims “Ball Is In New Japan’s Court”

Jon Moxley competed yesterday at New Japan Pro Wrestling’s (NJPW) Dominion event. He would open the show against Young Lion, Shota Umino.

The new IWGP United States Champion didn’t take long in putting away his enthusiastic opponent.

After the matchup, Moxley would get on the mic and declare his interest in being a competitor in this year’s G1 Climax tournament.

Backstage, Moxley reiterated his demand.

“I Speak The Language Of Violence”

Propping up a barely conscious Shota Umino, Moxley complimented his opponent, saying “he did good. He did real good.”

He joked that he liked Shota and that he is his new personal Young Lion, intending to have him act as a spotter in the gym and personal driver going forward before turning his attention to the tournament itself.

“I think tonight, I made my intentions clear,” Moxley said. “The ball’s in New Japan’s court now. See you at the G1.”

As he was leaving, Moxley would turn towards the camera once more after hearing a reporter speak in Japanese, seemingly asking a question pertaining to the G1 Climax.

“I speak the language of violence, but I’m also pretty good with words. Do you understand me? I want in the G1.”

The opening night of the G1 Climax tournament takes place on July 6th from the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. It is the first time any G1 Climax show has taken place outside of Japan.

Jon Moxley Discusses Comparisons To CM Punk, Comments On WWE “Buying” The Indies

Jon Moxley continues to make an impact since leaving WWE and arriving in both All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW). Competing recently for the first time in NJPW, he defeated Juice Robinson and became the new IWGP United States Champion.

A number of key interviews with Moxley have been released in recent weeks, including one with the Wade Keller Pro Wrestling Podcast, and another with Talk Is Jericho. His interview with Jericho, in particular, has caught the attention of many within the industry—with people comparing it to CM Punk’s insider interview with Colt Cabana.

Speaking with 25 Years Later, Moxley discussed this comparison to Punk and also touched on WWE buying the indie scene, folding it into their corporate machine.

“The Sum Of Wrestling Outside Of WWE Is Bigger Than WWE”

It was highlighted that, whereas Punk’s interview with Cabana burned bridges, Moxley’s instead simply told the truth. This acted as a key difference between the two former WWE Superstars mindsets.

“A bridge is never burnt in WWE,” Moxley said.”Vince [McMahon] would have me back tomorrow and would love it if I came crawling back to him. I think Punk had a lot more personal animosity towards WWE and specific people. I don’t know every detail of his story, and I haven’t spoken to him since he left WWE. His experience drove him to not like wrestling anymore, I think. For me, I wanted the exact opposite. I just got pro wrestling back after losing it years ago. I’m like “Whoa, I’m back in the game, here we go!’”

Moxley later added, “That’s probably the biggest difference between my interview and the Punk interview. He was basically saying f*** pro wrestling, and I was saying that I got my love of pro wrestling back. I want to wrestle everyone. Let’s drop all the bridges, get all the companies together and have a super show that sells out a stadium right now. Fuck it. The sum of wrestling outside of WWE is bigger than WWE.”

“Buying The Indys”

Looking back at his time on the independent circuit, Moxley expresses that he feels it’s a bad idea that Triple H and WWE are simply “buying the indys.”

“He [Triple H] basically started buying the indys. I remember thinking that it might not be a good idea. Then where are all of these good ideas going to come from? If they signed Daniel Bryan at 21, he never would’ve become Bryan Danielson, and you never would’ve had WrestleMania 30. If they signed Punk before he really became CM Punk, he never would’ve done what he did. If they signed me at 21, I never would’ve become anything good. I had to develop first before getting brought in. Buying up all of the indy scene was the same as Vince buying up all the territories back in the day. There’s nobody left to cherry pick for talent.”

Despite this, Moxley commented on the indie scenes resurgence in popularity, stating that the strength of independent wrestling makes him optimistic about the future of pro wrestling as a whole.

Jon Moxley recently defeated Shota Umino at NJPW’s Dominion event. It was during this show that he declared his intentions to compete in this year’s G1 Climax tournament, which gets started on July 6th from Dallas, Texas.

Jon Moxley & Juice Robinson Post-Match Promos From BOSJ 26 Finals

Jon Moxley is the new IWGP United States Champion after defeating Juice Robinson at Wednesday’s NJPW Best of the Super Juniors Finals event. Moxley struck gold in his New Japan debut and toppled Juice after weeks of taunting. Both men cut promos backstage after the match.

Juice’s Promo

Juice Robinson says “everybody was right” after assuming that Moxley would defeat him. “Thanks for believing in me,” he said snidely. Jon Moxley drew blood by biting his face and left him demoralized.

He was riding high as one of the top stars in New Japan until Moxley came in and took the only thing that means anything to him. Moxley fought his ass off and is a different man than he was 8 years ago when they trained together in Florida Championship Wrestling.

Moxley took over the world in WWE and clearly has a chip on his shoulder now that he’s free. Jon Moxley made an example out of him in their match and killed whatever was left of his former persona, CJ Parker.

Moxley’s Promo

Jon Moxley thanked New Japan for the opportunity to wrestle for them and allowing him the freedom to ply his craft. He also thanked Juice for sharing the ring with him.

He’s known Juice since they were “kids” and there’s a reason he’s been targeting Juice for weeks: because Juice is a star. He knows Juice will come back for that title harder than ever. “So bring it, motherf*cker, I’m gonna be training harder than ever. I’m gonna be ready for you.”

Everybody around the world wants to wrestle for New Japan, but he’s got a message for them. If you’re thinking about coming after his title, you better strike first. Jon Moxley is on the warpath and he’s on the hunt. He speaks the language of violence. He ha a message for anybody looking to challenge him and urges those people to look at Juice Robinson to learn his message.
