Juice Robinson Replaced In AEW Continental Classic Due To Injury

Juice Robinson has officially been replaced in the ongoing AEW Continental Classic tournament due to his injury.

Will Ospreay defeated Robinson in a C2 Gold League match last week. The bout that aired on the November 27 Collision was taped after the November 24 episode of Dynamite. The former NJPW star was then spotted on crutches during the weekend’s WrestleCade event, sparking speculations about his health.

AEW president Tony Khan confirmed earlier on Wednesday that Robinson is indeed dealing with an injury. He announced on Twitter that Kommander will be replacing the injured star in the ongoing tournament:

The second annual Continental Classic tournament features names such as Claudio Castagnoli, Darby Allin, Brody King, Will Ospreay, and Ricochet in the Gold League. As of this Tuesday, Ospreay, King and Castagnoli, each have earned three points in the tournament.

On the Blue side, Shelton Benjamin and Kyle Fletcher have scored 3 points each. The current Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada and TNT Champion Daniel Garcia have had to share one point each after their match went into a time-limit draw. Both Mark Briscoe and The Beast Mortos have yet to earn any points.

AEW has changed the rules for the Continental Classic semifinals this year with the matches taking place at the Worlds End PPV itself. You can check out more details here.

AEW Star Injured During Collision Match

AEW will be without one of its standout performers for the foreseeable future, as Juice Robinson sustained an injury during the taping of the November 30th episode of AEW Collision. The incident occurred on November 27th during a Gold League match in the AEW Continental Classic, where Robinson faced off against Will Ospreay. While Ospreay emerged victorious, Robinson suffered an injury that now sidelines him indefinitely.

Further details regarding Robinson’s injury or his potential return timeline have not been disclosed. However, fans spotted him on crutches during WrestleCade weekend, raising concerns about the severity of the issue. This setback comes not long after Robinson’s return to action in May at Double or Nothing, following back surgery to address a previous injury.

Robinson originally debuted for All Elite Wrestling in September 2022 in a hard-fought match against Jon Moxley. He officially signed with the promotion three months later and has been a prominent figure ever since, frequently appearing alongside his Bang Bang Gang stablemates.

We extend our best wishes to Juice Robinson for a speedy and full recovery.

Juice Robinson Officially a Member of the AEW Roster

On last night’s AEW Rampage, a familiar face issued a challenge to ROH Television and AEW TNT Champion, Samoa Joe.

In a promo that aired, “Rock Hard” Juice Robinson reminded everyone that he is a three-time IWGP US Champion. He got straight to the point of issuing a challenge to Samoa Joe for the ROH belt next Saturday at Final Battle.

“You know I’ve done a lot in Japan, but I need to prove myself in America and if I’m going to be a superstar on television, then I need that ROH Television title around my waist. Joe, you may be the ‘King of TV’ now…kings get dethroned.”

As they were going into the main event for All-American Championship between Orange Cassidy and QT Marshall, Excalibur confirmed that Robinson is an official member for the AEW roster.

Juice Robinson Outside of AEW

Good Brothers vs FinJuice

AEW was rumored to have signed Robinson last month, with the company having interest in him for several months. He was last seen in the company where he wrestled then AEW World Champion Jon Moxley in a World Eliminator Championship match. Robinson lost and therefore did not earn a shot at the title.

Last year, Robinson and his former tag team partner, David Finlay spent time in IMPACT Wrestling. Under the tag team name, FinJuice (given to them when they were in NJPW’s World Tag League), they feuded with Good Brothers. FinJuice held the IMPACT Tag Team titles for two months.

Robinson is currently feuding with Blake Christian, who is also signed to AEW under the ROH brand, in NJPW Strong. He joined Bullet Club in May at NJPW’s Wrestling Dontaku show when he showed up after allegedly leaving the company to attack Hiroshi Tanahashi.

Robinson was briefly in ROH from 2018-2019 where he was the in Lifeblood. The faction featured Finlay, Bandido, Tracy Williams, Tenille Dashwood, and Mark Haskins.

Final Battle will take place in Arlington, Texas on Saturday, December 10 at 4 PM ET.

Jon Moxley Set To Face NJPW Star Making AEW Debut In A World Title Eliminator On Dynamite

AEW World Champion Jon Moxley will battle NJPW star Juice Robinson this Wednesday on Dynamite in a World Title Eliminator match.

If Juice Robinson is able to defeat the champion on Dynamite, he will earn a future title shot, much like a Championship Contender’s match in WWE.

Robinson is one of the only two men that have defeated Jon Moxley in 2022 so far. The other wrestler is former AEW World Champion CM Punk at All Out.

AEW President Tony Khan announced the match on Twitter and noted that MJF can fight Moxley for the championship any time he chooses.

In addition to MJF, Jon Moxley now has to worry about another wrestler on the AEW roster coming after his title. On Rampage: Grand Slam this past Friday night, Hangman Adam Page took a massive step closer to becoming a two-time AEW World Champion.

Page hit Rush with a Dead Eye on the ring apron to win the Golden Ticket Battle Royal and ensure himself a shot at the title. It was announced that Jon Moxley will defend the AEW World Championship against Hangman Adam Page on Dynamite on October 18th. It will be a special Tuesday night edition of AEW Dynamite.

What Has Been Announced For Dynamite (9/28)?

Saraya, formerly known as Paige in WWE, made her shocking debut this past Wednesday at Dynamite: Grand Slam at Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York. AEW has announced that fans will hear from Saraya on Wednesday night.

Chris Jericho is set to have a celebration with the Jericho Appreciation Society after defeating Claudio Castagnoli to become the new ROH Champion.

World Title Eliminator: Jon Moxley (c) vs. Juice Robinson. Juice will earn a future shot at the AEW World Championship if he can defeat Jon Moxley.

MJF will address the crowd. Maxwell appeared on Dynamite: Grand Slam and interrupted Tony Schiavone’s interview with Wheeler Yuta. Maxwell took several shots at Wheeler and the Blackpool Combat Club. He then brawled with Yuta, shoved Schiavone to the floor, and was helped by W. Morrissey of The Firm.

Juice Robinson Stripped Of IWGP US Championship

New Japan Pro Wrestling has confirmed that Juice Robinson has been stripped of the IWGP United States Championship ahead of Sunday’s Dominion PPV.

The now-former champion was first pulled from Best of Super Junior Finals at the Nippon Budokan last week because of appendicitis. He was supposed to take on Tomoaki Honma at the show.

The Japanese wrestling promotion then announced late Friday that the Bullet Club member is being stripped of the US title because of his inability to compete:

Robinson was scheduled to defend the championship against Will Ospreay and SANADA in a triple threat match at the Dominion PPV.

NJPW has confirmed that the PPV will now see Orpreay and SANADA going up against each other for the vacant title instead.

Juice Robinson had only returned to NJPW during Wrestling Dontaku on May 1. He won the US championship a couple weeks later in a four-way match at Capital Collision. The match saw him defeat Hiroshi Tanahashi, Will Ospreay, and Jon Moxley.

The video released by NJPW indicates that the American pro wrestler will require surgery. There is no word on how long he is expected to stay out of action. We will keep you posted on his condition.

Juice Robinson Wins IWGP United States Heavyweight Title At NJPW Capital Collision

Juice Robinson is now a three-time IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion.

The IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship was at stake in the main event of NJPW Capital Collision.

Hiroshi Tanahashi was the titleholder going into the event. He put the gold on the line against Jon Moxley, Will Ospreay, and Juice Robinson in a four-way match.

The action was held inside the Entertainment & Sports Arena in Washington, DC.

The match ended in controversy as Juice hit a low blow on Ospreay and landed his finisher for the three-count. The real controversy wasn’t in the low blow, as this four-way match was No DQ.

Ospreay seemingly had his foot under the rope but the referee never noticed. It’s yet another Ospreay match that ends with more questions than answers.

Juice Robinson Was “Lying to Gullible Idiots” by Teasing NJPW Exit

New Japan Pro Wrestling star Juice Robinson says he was just working fans online with his recent talk about leaving the company.

Just a few weeks ago, Robinson said his contract extension with NJPW was set to expire at the end of April. He said, “I will not be wrestling under the New Japan banner any longer” after then.

We now know that was a premeditated lie. Robinson made a surprise appearance at NJPW Dontaku on May 1, joined the Bullet Club and attacked new IWGP United States Champion Hiroshi Tanahashi.

“Rock Hard” Robinson spoke with the NJPW website this week and had a laugh at the expense of people who believed his talk of leaving NJPW.

“Not that I owe anyone any explanation, but I was never going to retire,” said Robinson. “That was just me lying to a bunch of gullible idiots. People believe that if they read something on the internet it has to be true. So all I had to say is make sure it landed on the internet, and everybody believed it, hook line and sinker.”

Robinson gets a shot at the IWGP United States Championship at the upcoming NJPW Capital Collision event from Washington, D.C. He’ll compete in the 4-way title match involving Tanahashi (c), Jon Moxley and Will Ospreay.

NJPW Capital Collision

The Bullet Club’s newest member says he will continue shaking things up for the faction, as Jay White has been doing.

“He got rid of dead weight and brought in new blood,” Robinson said of White. “That’s where I come in. I’m the booster for Bullet Club, and with me there, I see Bullet Club going right to the top of the wrestling world.”

Juice Robinson Turns Heel, Joins Bullet Club (Video)

Juice Robinson has swerved the wrestling industry.

It wasn’t long ago when Juice claimed he didn’t plan on re-signing with NJPW. He sounded a bit deflated during an interview on Wrestling Observer Live. His tone even left some fans concerned but it was all a ruse.

During Wrestling Dontaku, a masked man attacked IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion Hiroshi Tanahashi. The man then hit Pulp Friction and at that point, it was clear what was going on. The man unmasked and sure enough, it was Juice Robinson.

Check out the heel turn below courtesy of NJPW World.

Juice Robinson Claims He’s Done at NJPW

Juice Robinson appears to be done with New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) when he contract expires later this month.

Robinson recently joined Wrestling Observer Live and revealed that his current contract with NJPW is set to expire on April 30, and when the time comes, he has not plans on re-signing with the promotion.

“I don’t have plans to travel back over [to Japan],” Robinson said (via WrestlingNews.co). “I am at the end of my contract. I did an extra three month extension and that ends April 30th so that will be that. I will not be wrestling under the New Japan banner any longer.”

Robinson’s initial contract with NJPW expired back on January 31, however, as he mentioned, he signed a three-month extension through the end of April. Now, Robinson is set to become a free agent, and there’s no telling where he could end up. However, it’s probably easy to guess where he won’t end up.

Aside from NJPW, Robinson also had a stint with WWE back in 2011. He wrestled for Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW) when it was part of WWE’s developmental program, and even saw it morph into WWE NXT before departing from the company in 2015.

Robinson then joined NJPW in 2015, where he continued working for the next seven years, while also making appearances for Ring Of Honor (ROH). During his run with NJPW, Robinson captured the IWGP United States Heavyweight Title twice, along with an IWGP Tag Team Title win alongside David Finlay. Now that his time in NJPW is behind him, perhaps Juice Robinson has his eyes set on the likes of IMPACT Wrestling or All Elite Wrestling (AEW).

Juice Robinson Is Now A Free Agent

Juice Robinson’s contract with New Japan Pro Wrestling expired on January 31st, 2022. According to a report from Fightful, he is now a free agent.

Robinson has been wrestling in New Japan’s USA promotion and Impact Wrestling as of late. He has not wrestled in Japan since March.

“It’s a great time in wrestling to show up anywhere, and maybe it’s the right time for me to spread my wings and fly,” Robinson said to Sports Illustrated back in November.

Robinson may continue working with New Japan Pro Wrestling despite not being under contract.

The 32-year-old made his pro debut in 2008 after having been trained by Truth Martini. He signed with WWE in 2011 and worked under the name CJ Parker. While performing in NXT, his character became something of an eco-warrior and would carry signs that read, “There is no Planet B”. In 2015, Robinson departed the company and signed with NJPW that summer.

While in NJPW, Robinson was a 2x IWGP United States Champion. He also won the World Tag League in 2019 along with David Finlay. His team with Finlay, FinJuice, are also former IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions. FinJuice are also 1x former Impact World Tag Team Champions as well.

Juice Robinson Speaks On NJPW Contract Status

Juice Robinson has addressed the report that his New Japan Pro Wrestling contract is expiring soon.

Fightful was the first to bring word that Juice’s contract will be up in early 2022. There are certainly options for Juice, who has been seen on Impact Wrestling as part of a business relationship with NJPW. It definitely seems that Juice is at least willing to test the market.

Juice Robinson Talks Future

During an interview with Sports Illustrated, Juice Robinson confirmed the report and spoke on what the future might hold.

“I’ll be a free agent [in] February. It’s a great time in wrestling to show up anywhere, and maybe it’s the right time for me to spread my wings and fly.”

Few can deny that Juice has reached his greatest career success under the NJPW banner. He requested his release from WWE, where he performed as CJ Parker on the NXT brand back in 2015. Juice quickly shot up the ranks in NJPW and became a two-time IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion.

Juice has also had tag team success. He’s a former IWGP Tag Team Champion and a former Impact Wrestling Tag Team Champion along with David Finlay.

On Nov. 13, Juice will be taking on Impact World Heavyweight Champion Moose. The match will be featured on the NJPW Battle In The Valley card.

SEScoops will keep you posted on the latest information regarding Juice Robinson’s future with NJPW. Keep it locked on our homepage in the coming months as things unfold.

Juice Robinson’s NJPW Contract Set To Expire Soon

Juice Robinson may find himself with a slew of options soon.

Robinson has garnered the most success of his wrestling career under the NJPW banner. He had been on WWE’s NXT brand as CJ Parker. Robinson ended up having his release request granted by WWE and he made the move to NJPW.

Juice Robinson’s NJPW Contract Status

Fightful Select is reporting that the current NJPW deal for Juice Robinson will expire at the end of Jan. 2022. At this time, it’s unclear if NJPW has begun the renegotiation process. It’s been said that many promotions would be interested in Juice if he ends up being available.

As of late, Juice has been seen with his tag team partner Finlay on Impact Wrestling. This is part of a partnership between NJPW and Impact. Under the NJPW banner, Robinson has been a two-time IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion and is a former IWGP Tag Team Champion with Finlay.

Juice has even won gold during his time with Impact. He and Finlay are the former Impact Wrestling Tag Team Champions. The two held onto the championship gold for 65 days.

Back in October, Juice and current WWE star, Toni Storm announced their engagement.

Juice Robinson Explains Why One Of His NXT Promos Was Banned

Juice Robinson has reflected on the time he had one of his promos on NXT banned.

Juice had been signed with WWE under the NXT brand as CJ Parker. He was with the company from 2011 through 2015. It was Juice who requested and was granted his release from the company.

Since that time, Juice Robinson has made a name for himself in New Japan Pro Wrestling. He is far more popular now than he was under the NXT brand. Juice is a two-time IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion and a former IWGP Tag Team Champion with David Finlay.

During an interview with Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, Juice explained how one of his NXT promos ended up getting banned.

“So me and another guy, I can’t remember who, came up with it [a new character idea], but next thing I know we’re outside of Sea World doing the tear going down my eye and sad music, the orcas are swimming and I called it Slave World. You can’t say that, of course. It was meant to be an idea. What could have been. Anyways, I showed it to Dusty and he loved it. Absolutely loved it. However, somebody else said, ‘Don’t show that again.’ Well, I ended up showing it again. Apparently, Anheuser-Busch sponsors Sea World. Anheuser-Busch also is with WWE or something, I don’t know. Bureaucratic bull crap. It never saw the light of day, but it was very, very entertaining. Very tongue-in-cheek, very pro wrestling.”

As of late, Juice has taken full advantage of the “Forbidden Door” being open. He’s been working with Impact Wrestling alongside Finlay. The two are former Impact Wrestling Tag Team Champions.

Toni Storm & Juice Robinson Announce Their Engagement

Congratulations are in order for WWE Superstar Toni Storm and NJPW star Juice Robinson. The happy couple are now engaged to be married.

The couple went public with their relationship in the summer of 2020.

Storm announced the big news on her Instagram page. Juice popped the question and now it’s time to pop a little bit of the bubbly to celebrate.

“Pop the champagne I’m changing my last name.”

Toni Storm & Juice Robinson

Storm recently returned to WWE Smackdown after being off TV for several weeks. She teamed with Liv Morgan and defeated Zelina Vega and Carmella by count-out on the 9/17 show from Knoxville, Tennessee. It was her first match since she defeated Zelina Vega in singles action on the 7/23 show from Cleveland, Ohio.

Robinson has been wrestling for NJPW of America and Impact Wrestling since the spring. The last time he was in Japan was on the New Japan Cup tour in March. He’s scheduled to be on Impact Wrestling next week as FinJuice will take on Bullet Club’s HIKULEO and Chris Bey. The winning team will challenge the Good Brothers for the Impact World Tag Team Championships at Bound For Glory on 10/23.

Don’t Expect FinJuice To Split Any Time Soon

World title aspirations may be in full effect but don’t count on FinJuice breaking up in the near future.

David Finlay and Juice Robinson have had success as a tag team in both New Japan Pro Wrestling and Impact Wrestling. They have won tag team gold under both promotions. Lately, the two have been spending their time in Impact.

Finlay hopped on the Wrestling Perspective Podcast and admitted that while he is chasing singles gold, he doesn’t see himself breaking away from Juice yet.

“I do have aspirations of one day becoming World Champion,” Finlay shared. “At the same time, though, I have so much fun doing tag matches. I really, really enjoy them. I Love tagging with Juice. It’s a blast and never feels like work. So yeah, like I’ll do this until I don’t want to do it anymore and then I guess we part ways, maybe? Or maybe we don’t, I don’t know. But I do have aspirations of being a World Champion somewhere.”

Finlay recently competed for the NEVER Openweight Title. While it isn’t a world championship, a win over Jay White at NJPW Strong Resurgence would’ve given him his first singles title run. It wasn’t meant to be as White scored the pinfall after hitting Bladerunner.

Meanwhile, Juice Robinson has tasted singles gold. He is a former two-time IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion. Juice gained a ton of momentum in NJPW pre-pandemic.

Time will tell whether or not David Finlay can realize his dream of becoming a world champion. For now, he’ll be looking for tag team gold once again with Juice Robinson as FinJuice.

Main Event For Saturday Debut Of NJPW Strong Announced

NJPW Strong is making the jump to Saturday nights and the Sept. 18 card has been revealed.

Strong had been airing every Friday night at 10 p.m. ET. Since AEW Rampage has taken that night and time slot, NJPW responded by moving the show to Saturday nights at 8 p.m. ET. The move takes effect on Sept. 18.

NJPW has announced that headlining the show will be a tables match between Juice Robinson and Hikuleo.

“Headlining this Saturday is a first for not just NJPW STRONG, but New Japan in general. A tables match will see Juice Robinson go up against Hikuleo, wherein the only way to win is to send your opponent through a table with an offensive maneuver.

Juice and Hikuleo’s issues stretch back one month to before Resurgence. There Hikuleo, upset at being snubbed in the Resurgence lineup, issued an open challenge that Robinson responded to. n ring at the LA Coliseum, Hikuleo’s power was undeniable as he set to work on Juice, but Robinson’s veteran instincts were enough for him to score a flash pinfall victory.

That wasn’t a loss Hikuleo took well, and a post-match chokeslam was delivered as a parting shot. Yet Hikuleo hasn’t let go of this issue with Juice, driving him through a table backstage on STRONG, and then following Robinson to IMPACT, where he joined Chris Bey in a devastating steel chair assault this week. Now the two meet in their most violent encounter yet; who will survive?”

Here’s a look at the Sept. 18 NJPW Strong card.

The main event saw IWGP United States Champion Lance Archer put his gold up for grabs against Hiroshi Tanahashi. In the co-headliner, Jay White defended the NEVER Openweight gold against David Finlay.

Resurgence also saw a surprise appearance from former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Will Ospreay. He revealed that he has been medically cleared to compete but he will not be participating in the G1 Climax due to issues with NJPW brass.

Moose Moves One Step Closer To Facing Kenny Omega

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKMSytLwiwk

This week’s main event was a qualifying match for the #1 contendership 6-way at Under Siege. Before the match, Don Callis visited Moose in the back and appeared to be buttering him up for something. Callis said that Moose shouldn’t have to qualify for the match and that Impact management isn’t treating him fairly. Moose didn’t appear to be falling for Callis’ disingenuous routine, however.

Moose focussed on Storm’s leg for much of the match and this played into the finish. Storm was unable to deliver a crucifix bomb due to his injured leg, Moose was then almost able to hit his Lights Out Spear as a result but Storm countered with a superkick. The move cost Storm, however, who favored his leg heavily after and was unable to make the pin. Moose then got up, delivered the spear and got the win.

After the match, Moose wrapped Storm’s leg in a chair and stomped on it. Chris Sabin ran out to help his partner but the damage had been done.

Doc Gallows Defeated Juice Robinson, “Coach Kenny” Helps

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IbsnLw0DDBs

Kenny Omega agreed to come out and be at ringside for Doc Gallows’ match against Juice Robinson this week. The finish of the match came when Robinson was setting Gallows up for his Pulp Friction finisher but was distracted by Anderson who had gotten up on the ring apron. He then turned his attention to Omega and Callis who did the same. The distraction allowed Gallows to recover, counter the Pulp Friction, hit a bicycle kick followed by a slam for the win.

After the match, Omega and the Good Brothers kept up the assault on Finjuice. Eddie Edwards attempted to make the save but the Elite still had the numbers advantage and took him out too. They then celebrated in the ring to end the segment.

El Phantasmo Makes His Impact Debut

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djV_tVJqeLI

2x Super J-Cup winner and 2x IWGP Junior Heavyweight tag champ El Phantasmo made his official debut for Impact Wrestling this week. He defeated VSK, who has worked a fair bit on episodes of AEW Dark. VSK got a surprising amount of offence in this match but in the end, ELP was able to finish off his opponent with a super kick. It did look as though ELP may have loaded up his boot before delivering the kick, however.

Chris Sabin Qualifies For Under Siege

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lzOMw-A4SW8

Two former world champions faced off in the night’s opening match with a spot in the Under Siege #1 contendership match on the line. Sabin’s speed and technical ability gave him the advantage at numerous points during the match, but Rhino’s stablemates from Violent By Design always did something underhanded to give their guy the advantage. It looked like Rhino had the match won when he was setting up his opponent for the Gore but Sabin avoided it and rolled him up in a cradle and got the 3-count.

Decay Targets Brian Myers

Brian Myers ran into Rosemary and the members of Decay backstage this week. Myers was upset he wasn’t given another chance to qualify for Under Siege when Rosemary attempted to tell him what the cards had in store for him. Myers tried to flee the situation but promptly got headbutted by Taurus for his trouble. Decay then laughed over top of him to end the scene. Myers vs Taurus was later announced for Under Siege.

Taylor Wilde Does Not Want Tenille Dashwood’s Help

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DwXZxRAZVVA

Taylor Wilde faced Susan this week on Impact. Wilde would have to contend with Susan’s ally, Kimber Lee on the outside as well. Tenille Dashwood and Kaleb sauntered out to the ring area during the match as Dashwood has been lobbying to form a tag-team with Wilde. The finish of the match came when Kimber Lee grabbed Wilde’s leg from the outside prompting Kaleb to pick her up in a fireman’s carry to prevent further interference. While the ref was distracted with that, Dashwood gave Susan a neck breaker along the ring ropes just before Wilde delivered a German Suplex for the win.

After the match, Dashwood wanted to celebrate with Wilde but she was having none of it. Wilde bailed out of the ring before Kaleb could get a photo of the two posing together.

W. Morrissey Is No Longer “One-Half of a Catchphrase”

W. Morrissey is not kidding around. He cut an intense promo over top of a video package this week. He’s not happy with how fans and the industry itself has treated him.

“You were the first to criticize, you were the first to say ‘he’s done’ and it isn’t just the fans, it’s every member of this rotten industry.”

Morrissey pinned Willie Mack in tag-team action at Rebellion. Mack then challenged Morrissey to a match at Under Siege. Morrissey more or less accepted the challenge in this video package.

Trey Miguel Qualifies For Under Siege

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EQVYagl0KjA

Trey Miguel moved one step closer to achieving his goal of winning the Impact World Championship this week. He locked in his hour-glass submission and got Rohit Raju to tap.

As Trey walked back up the ramp, Jake Something walked passed him with his eyes glued on Shera and Raju. Last week, Raju interfered in Something’s qualifying match for Under Siege and cost him the opportunity. He then took out both Shera and Raju to end the segment.

Rachael Ellering Defeats Kiera Hogan

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kYKNxHlKng8

Jordynne Grace and Rachael Ellering will have to defend their newly won belts against the former champs at Under Siege. This week, Ellering and Kiera Hogan went one-on-one in a little preview for the upcoming title clash. Ellering picked up the victory with a sideslam as her and Grace continue to have the edge over the duo from Fire N Flava.

Later on in the show, the two teams met up backstage and Jordynne Grace and Tasha Steelz agreed to a match next week.

Good Brothers Comment On Losing Tag Titles To FinJuice

At Impact Wrestling’s Sacrifice on Saturday night, Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows (The Good Brothers) dropped the tag belts to Juice Robinson and David Finlay (FinJuice).

With the win, FinJuice becomes the 37th team in history to win the belts. They begin the 56th reign in the title’s lineage. Santana & Ortiz hold the record for most combined days spent with the belts (662). Beer Money (James Storm & Bobby Roode) and Eddie Edwards & Davey Richards are tied for the record of most reigns with 5. Ethan Page and Josh Alexander hold the record for the longest single-reign with the belts at 380 days.

Karl Anderson took to Twitter to comment on the loss:

Brian Myers was evidently impacted by the loss as well:

David’s father, Fit Finlay, also commented:

Anderson and Gallows’ reign with the titles finished at 120 days. They originally won the titles from Ethan Page and Josh Alexander (The North) at Turning Point. The North had won and lost the titles to the Motor City Machine Guns. Alex Shelley, however, is not able to continue wrestling due to his non-wrestling career until after the pandemic. Chris Sabin has since been teaming with James Storm in Impact since Shelley is not currently able to wrestle.

Impact Results (3/2): 3 Matches Added To Sacrifice

Impact Wrestling is less than two weeks away from their next big event, Sacrifice on March 13th. This week’s show added several matches to the show.

Impact 3/2 Quick Results:

  1. X-Division #1 Contendership
Ace Austin defeated Black Taurus and Chris Bey
  2. Tenille Dashwood defeated Havok
  3. The Good Brothers & FinJuice defeated Reno Scum & Team XXXL
  4. Eddie Edwards defeated Brian Myers via DQ (Referee: Matt Cardona)
  5. Deonna Purrazzo defeated Jordynne Grace and Kiera Hogan

ODB To Challenge Deonna Purrazzo At Sacrifice

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aInz3XwBKWc

This match was originally supposed to be just Purrazzo vs Grace but after Fire N Flava interrupted a backstage promo earlier in the night, Kiera Hogan was added to the bout. The finish of the match came shortly after Grace dove to the outside and took out Susan and Kimber Lee. Grace then attempted to deliver a splash to Hogan but Tasha Steelz pulled her out of the ring. This then allowed Purrazzo to roll up Grace for the win.

After the match, as Grace and Tasha Steelz brawled to the back, Purrazzo was left alone in the ring. ODB then bolted out from the back and attacked the Knockouts Champion. Last we saw ODB, she had been attacked and left unconscious in the back. Based on ODB’s actions here, it seems she knows exactly who attacked her. Shortly after, it was revealed that ODB will challenge Purrazzo at Sacrifice.

The Good Brothers To Defend Tag Belts Against FinJuice At Sacrifice

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LhFyh9A4VFo

Impact Wrestling didn’t waste any time getting Juice Robinson and David Finlay into the tag-team title hunt. There had been dissension between teams when The Good Brothers and FinJuice teamed up to defeat Reno Scum and Team XXXL this week. Later in the show, FinJuice managed to bait the Good Brothers into challenging them to a match for the belts at Sacrifice. Just like that, two of the best tag-teams in the world will clash in just 10 days.

Tony Khan Says AEW and Impact Are On The Same Team

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i6h1cNdBDfc

There was a stark difference in attitude from the two Tony’s this week. After Tommy Dreamer was critical of the tone that has been used in the AEW ads as of late, this week Khan stated that AEW and Impact are on the same team. Don Callis, Kenny Omega, and the Good Brothers are on the other team although Khan didn’t specifically say as much. The two Tony’s then ran down the card for tonight’s episode of Dynamite.

Matt Cardona Disqualifies Brian Myers In Match Against Eddie Edwards

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2vX91-GDb0

Matt Cardona and Brian Myers are former tag partners, longtime friends, and podcast co-hosts. They have not gotten along well so far in Impact Wrestling, however. Earlier in the show, Cardona told Myers he was going to call the match “right down the middle” which Myers didn’t like. Then during the match, Cardona caught Myers loading up his elbow pad and disqualified him after he hit Edwards with it. Something is brewing between these two.

Ace Austin Qualifies For X-Division Title Shot

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qpd9jNFQIxI

Ace Austin earned a shot at the X-Division title with a win in triple threat action this week. He had actually teamed with Black Taurus and Chris Bey last week in a victory over Willie Mack, Trey Miguel and Josh Alexander in 6-man action with the stipulation that the winning team would face each other this week.

An X-Division match between Ace Austin and champion TJP was then made for Sacrifice.

Sami Callihan Invades Trey Miguel’s Wrestling School

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=URlg6ILt6Sc

Callihan continued his harassment of Trey Miguel this week. He has been critical that the former Rascalz member has no loyalty or passion. Callihan showed up at the school where Miguel is a head teacher. He was confronted by one of the school’s trainers, CK3, and a student before the segment cut out.

Tenille Dashwood Picks Up Win Over Havok

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dUALio1m0kE

Tenille Dashwood had been lobbying for Havok to be her new tag-team partner but things didn’t work out as planned. Instead, the two would face off in singles action this week. Dashwood picked up the win off of Kaleb Konely’s distraction. She hit the Spotlight Kick on Havok to get the pin. Havok’s tag partner came to the ring and took out Kaleb after, leading to speculation that Havok and Neveah may have resolved their recent conflict with each other.

Impact Draws Best Rating Since Kenny Omega’s Debut

Impact Wrestling drew its best rating of the year on Tuesday night with an episode that featured the promotional debut of Juice Robinson and David Finlay. According to ShowBuzz Daily, Tuesday’s episode drew 197,000 viewers on AXS TV and a 0.06 rating in the key demo.

The show finished 117th for the night. The top show on Tuesday night was NBC’s “This is Us” and the #2 show was the debut of “Young Rock.”

The rating is up from last week’s go-home show for the No Surrender event. That episode garnered 153,000 viewers on AXS TV and a 0.04 rating in the key demo. The Kenny Omega debut episode on December 8th, 2020 drew 221,000 viewers and a 0.08 rating in the 18-49 demographic.

Interest for Impact’s latest episode likely increased following the No Surrender event on Impact Plus this weekend. It was announced at the conclusion of the show that David Finlay & Juice Robinson would make their promotional debuts this week. FinJuice defeated Reno Scum on Tuesday night before being confronted by The Good Brothers, Karl Anderson & Doc Gallows.

FinJuice Has Arrived, Agree To Drink Beers With The Good Brothers

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SD_K_NLGeBg

After a video announcing their arrival aired at No Surrender, Juice Robinson and David Finlay made their Impact debuts this week. They defeated the team of Reno Scum. After the match, Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows confronted them from the stage.

Anderson spoke about how when the Good Brothers were in Japan, Finlay was just a young lion. Juice arrived in NJPW in 2015 and spent a year or so in slightly-above young lion status. All the while, Anderson and Gallows were winning the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championships and the World Tag League tournament. Anderson and Gallows spoke to Juice and Finlay as if they were still those young boys. They did invite Finjuice to go grab some beers with them, however.

Juice and Finlay agreed to the drinks but noted that they are not those young lions anymore. In fact, FinJuice have also won both the NJPW World Tag League and the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championships. It appears we might get a match between these two successful tag-teams sometime down the road in Impact.

Tony Khan Really Enjoys His Ads On Impact Wrestling

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZlmRX5ZLBqM

Tony Khan and Tony Schiavone were dressed up in Valentine’s Day gear this week, making both look like big fans of Shawn Michaels from the early to mid-90s.

Khan was upset that nobody gave him anything for Valentine’s Day but his gift to Impact was to continue buying these ads. He also said his accountant says it counts as a charitable donation. They ran down The Good Brothers for their interference at Beach Break. Khan then continued to talk about how he is the Forbidden Door and that anyone can show up on Dynamite.

Tommy Dreamer Fails To Get Revenge On Moose

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ksP55Np2Z5Q

Moose attached Rich Swann after the main event at No Surrender on Saturday. Tommy Dreamer went to Scott D’Amore and asked for an old school rules match against Moose in this week’s main event. Dreamer wanted revenge on Moose but he wasn’t able to get it.

Moose picked up the win with his Lights Out spear for the win. He would stand tall over Dreamer to end the show. At some point, we will get Moose vs Rich Swann for the world title and when that day comes, it could spell the end of Swann’s title reign.

TJP Successfully Defends The X-Division Title Against Josh Alexander

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l0EGSoLFM5I

At No Surrender, Josh Alexander won the triple threat revolver match to put him in a top-spot to contend for the X-Division title. Impact announced shortly after that he would receive his title shot on this week’s show.

After a 15-minute back-and-forth athletic contest, TJP would pick up the win after a Detonation Kick and Mamba splash. Later in the show, it would be revealed that TJP has not shortage of other contenders.

Ace Austin and TJP both found themselves in Scott D’Amore’s office later. Austin was complaining that he still has not received the title shot he earned months ago. D’Amore decided there will be a 6-person tag match next week and the winning team will then face off in a triple threat match with an X-Division title shot on the line.

The teams will be Ace Austin, Chris Bey and Black Taurus vs Willie Mack, Josh Alexander and Trey Miguel

Trey Miguel Picks Up Big Win, Sami Callihan Not Impressed

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uGJzV5SZ0Og

Trey Miguel made it all the way to the final 3 in the triple threat revolver match at No Surrender. He wasn’t able to win the match but didn’t take the final pin either. This week, Miguel had a chance to again move up the rankings when he took on Daivari, Willie Mack, and Suicide. The former member of the Rascalz would pick up the win after hitting a Meteora on Suicide.

After the match, Sami Callihan confronted Miguel and told him the reason he didn’t win at No Surrender was because he has no passion.

Brian Myers Confronts Matt Cardona

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U12mNzawHoY

Longtime friends, tag partners, and wrestling figure collectors, Brian Myers and Matt Cardona appear to be in the beginning stages of a feud. Cardona defeated Hernandez in singles action this week but was confronted by Myers after the match. Myers said that he came to Impact first and it’s his. Hernandez then attacked Cardona from behind but Eddie Edwards would run out to make the save.

Tenille Dashwood Attempts To Recruit Havok As Her New Partner

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_VEjI3We6c

The team of Havok and Neveah may be coming to an end. After failing to win the titles against Fire N Flava at No Surrender, some dissension was visible between the two.

This week, the two were seen talking in the back when Tenille Dashwood interrupted. While Dashwood constantly says that it is “all about her” she still seems motivated to be in a tag-team. Neveah took offence to Dashwood attempting to recruit her partner and challenged her to a match. When the two met in singles action later in the show, it was Dashwood pulling out the win with a Spotlight kick.

Next Week On Impact Wrestling

NJPW’s Juice Robinson & David Finlay Headed To Impact Wrestling

Doors between professional wrestling organizations are being opened and walked through with increased frequency lately. As announced on last night’s No Surrender event, NJPW’s Juice Robinson and David Finlay are headed to Impact Wrestling.

At the conclusion of last night’s broadcast on Impact Plus, a video promoting the debut of Juice and Finlay in Impact was shown.

Impact has also announced that both Juice and Finlay will be on the show Tuesday night.

Collectively known as “Fin Juice,” the pair are former IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions. They also won the World Tag League tournament in 2019. Robinson is also a former 2x IWGP United States Champion.

Don Callis On Juice Robinson

Don Callis had previously expressed that Juice Robinson was someone he would like to bring into his promotion. On an episode of his old “Killin the Town” podcast in 2018, Callis had the following to say about Juice.

“Juice is a tremendous performer with unlimited likeability and unlimited charisma,” Callis said. “He definitely is a rock star.”

“I really like him a lot,” Callis continued. “He’s a guy you build a company around.”

In the same interview from nearly 3 years ago, Callis made some prophetic statements.

“I agree with a lot of the conjecture online that talks about the fact that there are walls being broken down in the business right now,” Callis said. “I might just be the guy holding the hammer.”

G1 Climax 30 Day 18 Results

Gabriel Kidd def. Yuya Uemura (8:16)
Based on the math, Yota Tsuji has already clinched his place as the winner of the unofficial “C-Block” between these three young lions. Neverthe less, Uemura and Kidd did not give off the impression that they were any less motivated to fight their hardest. Both men jockeyed for position, trying to attack each other’s arm to set up for their finishing arm-trap suplex, before the match devolved into an energetic slugfest. Gabriel Kidd’s standing dropkick followed by the double underhook suplex sealed the deal for Uemura. This would put Kidd, unofficially, in second place, and Uemura in last.

B Block: YOSHI-HASHI def. Toru Yano (6:10)
Yano spent all of fifteen seconds calling for a “clean fight” before he attempted to remove a turnbuckle pad. As it turned out, YOSHI-HASHI had hidden a roll of tape in his own trunks that the referee did not find before the match. He used them to tape his staff to Yano’s wrist between the bars of the guardrail on the outside. Yano was barely able to find a way to get his hand free and make it back in the ring before being counted out. From there, he tried to roll YOSHI up repeatedly, and even hit a low blow from behind. As he did, YOSHI-HASHI caught Yano’s arm between his own legs, and used that to roll into an arm-trap cradle for the pinfall victory over his CHAOS stablemate. He has truly performed well above his station and I’m glad he ended his tournament on a happy note.
YOSHI-HASHI finishes with 4 points (2 wins, 7 losses).
Toru Yano finishes with 6 points (3 wins, 6 losses).

B Block: Juice Robinson def. Hirooki Goto (12:07)
Both Goto and Juice have ended up with fairly unfavorable G1 records after starting off strong. Goto in particular, his story the whole tournament has been his hurt arm, which KENTA caused by targeting it relentlessly in their match together, and has dragged his performance down since. At first, Juice went to targeting the hurt arm as well, before switching gears to trying to prove that he could brawl with a weakened Goto. Juice won a battle of lariats, but Goto caught the running Juice with an Ushigoroshi. Still, Juice had the werewithal to catch Juice’s kick and rise to his feet, then rock Goto with a right-handed punch. He called for Pulp Friction, but as he was setting it up, Goto applied a sleeper hold and tried to transition it into a pinning combination, but only achieved a near fall. Out of nowhere, Juice landed a big left-handed punch, then one more, and finally the Pulp Friction to end his G1 with a win.
Hirooki Goto finishes with 8 points (4 wins, 5 losses)
Juice Robinson finishes with 8 points (4 wins, 5 losses)

B Block: Hiroshi Tanahashi def. Zack Sabre Jr. (12:01)
I wonder if Zack Sabre Jr. spins a wheel with different names of body parts to decide what he’s going to focus on for his match on any given day. Today, it would be Tanahashi’s neck. With locks and cranks, Zack did his best to immobilize the Ace with neck work. Tanahashi, being technically-versed in his own right, was never at Zack’s mercy for too long. He turned a headscissors neck lock into a modified cloverleaf. Tanahashi used all his bursts of momentum to attack the leg, as he usually does, and it was a battle of who could be clever and creative enough to take control long enough to steal the win. Suddenly, Tanahashi was able to hit a Sling Blade, then immediately went for the High Fly Flow. He managed to land it on a standing Zack, but Zack rolled through it to apply an armbar. Thinking quickly, Tanahashi got to his feet and, with his arm-still trapped, rolled Zack into a lateral press cradle for the victory! He even kept pinning Zack after the three had been counted, because he’s just that cool.
Hiroshi Tanahashi finishes with 8 points (4 wins, 5 losses).
Zack Sabre Jr. finishes with 10 points (5 wins, 4 losses).

B Block: KENTA def. Tetsuya Naito (21:06)
No one who knew what KENTA was like before entering NJPW would have thought that this match with Tetsuya Naito would be a battle of mischevious personalities. At first, KENTA tried to provoke Naito by repeatedly bailing from the ring, but he had a clever plan in mind. As KENTA left the ring again, Naito followed him, but KENTA picked up his IWGP US Heavyweight Championship #1 contender briefcase and hit Naito with it as he leaned over the ropes, making a loud smacking sound. He was trained on Naito’s neck in much the same way that Zack just was against Tanahashi, hoping to hurt it before finishing with the Go 2 Sleep. After landing the Shibata-style corner dropkick into the diving foot stomp, Naito was really struggling to find any breathing room for himself. However, as KENTA lifted Naito onto his shoulders, Naito sat up and hit a reverse frankensteiner, and then went after KENTA with repeated elbows to the back of the neck. He pressed his new advantage with a super frankensteiner and the Gloria slam for a near fall. He tried for the Destino, but KENTA elbowed him away easily, and then lifted Naito’s feet onto the second rope for a DDT. He tried again for the Go 2 Sleep, but Naito would turn it into a counter Destino! He followed up with Valentia and went for the arm-trap Destino, but before he could lock it in, KENTA turned it into an inside cradle roll up for the flash pinfall victory on Naito. KENTA can’t win the G1, but now Naito is out.
KENTA finishes with 10 points (5 wins, 4 losses).
Tetsuya Naito finishes with 12 points (6 wins, 3 losses).

B Block: SANADA def. EVIL (27:01)
EVIL left the ring immediately upon the first bell and offered a too-sweet to Hiromu Takahashi, who was a guest commentator at ringside. Hiromu just gave him a goofy grin and a thumbs-up. SANADA eventually got tired of waiting for EVIL to fight him, and chased him, but this gave EVIL the opportunity to suplex him on a pile of chairs that he had taken out on the outside. The hurt SANADA was a sitting duck for EVIL’s offense, and a smattering of well-timed aid from Dick Togo. SANADA finally rose up and delivered a standing dropkick and plancha to EVIL to take him out. He then brought Dick Togo into the ring and put him in the Paradise Lock, and would do the same to EVIL upon his recovery. He followed up with a springboard dropkick and a bridging tiger suplex for a near fall on the former double champion. SANADA then landed the giant swing into the Skull End, but released it too soon to hit the moonsault and EVIL was able to move out of the way. EVIL would rise to his feet first to deliver a superplex before applying the scorpion deathlock, and held it for a good long time before SANADA finally managed to grab the bottom rope to force the rope break. Still reeling, he barely managed to kick out of Darkness Falls as it was announced that the time limit would come in 10 minutes. EVIL tried for the EVIL (STO), but SANADA blocked it and locked in the Skull End with bodyscissors once again. SANADA stood up and landed two top rope moonsaults on EVIL, but Dick Togo pulled the referee out of the ring and started hitting SANADA with a chair. The two of them landed the Magic Killer on SANADA, but Hiromu, having seen enough, got out of the commentary chair and laid Togo out with a superkick, but EVIL would hit a low blow on Hiromu. Togo and EVIL then hit the Magic Killer on Hiromu as well. EVIL picked up SANADA and threw him back down with a running lariat, and then Dick Togo started choking SANADA. Hiromu came back again to hit another superkick on Togo. But, finally, SANADA pushed EVIL into Dick Togo, and then pinned him with the Japanese leg roll clutch!
EVIL finishes with 12 points (6 wins, 3 losses).
SANADA finishes with 12 points (6 wins, 3 losses).

Due to his victories over both other men who have 12 points, Tetsuya Naito and EVIL, SANADA is the winner of the B Block. He will face Kota Ibushi and one of them will leave tomorrow the 30th G1 Climax winner!

G1 Climax 30 Day 16 Results

Yota Tsuji def. Yuya Uemura (7:56)
Once more, the classic and always compelling dynamic of technique versus power was on display between Uemura and Tsuji. Uemura took advantage early with a keylock to weaken Tsuji’s arms in preparation for his “deadbolt” double arm suplex. Tsuji showed that he’s not all brute force as well, when he rolled through Uemura’s hold to get on top and apply a single leg Boston crab. Uemura was able to break the hold, but Tsuji landed a spear followed by a giant swing, then the Boston crab for the submission victory.

B Block: KENTA def. YOSHI-HASHI
Soon into the match, KENTA left the ring and started playing with the staff that YOSHI-HASHI carries to the ring. Perturbed by this, YOSHI-HASHI would follow him to the outside, but be thrown head-first into the ring post. From there, KENTA went about systematically dismantling YOSHI’s left arm. YOSHI’s comebacks were short-lived, and KENTA hit a diving foot stomp and went for the Go 2 Sleep. YOSHI-HASHI managed to avoid it and hit a spin kick to grant himself some reprieve. He hit a running powerbomb and tried to apply the Butterfly Lock even with one bad arm. KENTA did not tap, and YOSHI broke the hold to hit a running double knee attack, but KENTA got out of the way and punished YOSHI-HASHI with heavy kicks. He attempted the Go 2 Sleep again but YOSHI would reverse it into a DDT to the crowd’s pleasure. He hit the Kumagoroshi for a near fall and went for Karma, but KENTA avoided it and applied the Game Over facelock. YOSHI-HASHI nearly earned a rope break, but KENTA rolled him back into the center of the ring and YOSHI-HASHI submitted.
KENTA goes to 8 points

B Block: Zack Sabre Jr. def. Juice Robinson
To the surprise of likely everyone, the match began with Juice Robinson grinding Zack Sabre Jr. down on the mat, using his weight advantage to keep the spindly submission artist beneath him. All the skill and leverage in the world won’t help if you can’t move. Eventually, Juice stood up and started trying to lift Zack for power moves, at which point Zack was able to mount a comeback, targeting Juice’s left arm to weaken the left handed punch that often signals the end for his opponent. Juice still had one good arm and was able to put up a fight, but Zack would repeatedly interrupt his comebacks with guillotine chokes and bodyscissors attacks. He kept going back to the left arm, and when Juice tried to powerbomb him out of an armbar, he needed two tries to do so. Juice hit a big right-handed punch and went for the Pulp Friction, but Zack dropped out of it and rolled him into the European Clutch for the three-count.
Zack Sabre Jr. goes to 10 points

B Block: Tetsuya Naito def. Toru Yano (8:04)
Tetsuya Naito was walking especially slowly to the ring as he entered, which made Yano get restless. Of course, when the bell rang, Yano was not actually interested in wrestling Naito, and spent a long time going in and out of the ring to delay the inevitable. Soon, though, he had pushed both Yota Tsuji at ringside and Tetsuya Naito down and taped their wrists together between the guardrail, but they were able to make it back in the ring before before Naito was counted out. Naito offered Tsuji a fist bump after they had delivered a double clothesline to Yano and freed themselves from the tape. Tsuji was going to accept it, but it was just a fake out; Naito kicked Tsuji and body-slammed him on top of Yano. Yano hit a sneak low blow on Naito and tried to roll him up, but Naito kicked out. Naito retaliated with a pop-up kick to the groin and a jackknife pin to defeat the Sublime Master Thief.
Tetsuya Naito goes to 12 points

B Block: EVIL def. Hirooki Goto (15:33)
With Naito now at 12 points, Goto is ostensibly out of the running, while EVIL has the best chances of defeating him since he has the tiebreaker victory. If Goto does win, it will be a matter of honor and sportsmanship conquering… evil. With the aid of Dick Togo at ringside, EVIL dominated Goto in the early stages of the match. Goto fired back up to lift the running EVIL and hit the Ushigoroshi, but Togo’s distraction enabled EVIL to stop Goto as he climbed to the top rope to capitalize on his first bit of momentum. EVIL hit a heavy lariat followed by Darkness Falls only for Goto to kick out, and attempted the EVIL STO, but EVIL avoided it. He forced EVIL out of the ring and hit a plancha on both EVIL and Togo! Goto hit a headbutt and a reverse GTR on EVIL for a near fall. He tried for the regular GTR, but EVIL dodged it. He attempted a discus lariat and EVIL caught his shoulder to transition into the STO finish. The G in G1 does not stand for Goto this year.
EVIL goes to 12 points

B Block: SANADA def. Hiroshi Tanahashi (28:25)
Matches between Hiroshi Tanahashi and SANADA are always interesting because a trained eye can spot all the ways that they wrestle like each other. Being both proteges of Keiji Mutoh, their offense, largely based on attacking the neck and knees to make them more susceptible to both submissions and bursts of high-speed offense. Tanahashi exemplified this, as he caught SANADA with his first dragonscrew, sending him reeling to the outside, and then landed on him with a High Fly Flow crossbody. He brought SANADA back and continued attacking his legs with Dragonscrews, but SANADA was able to make it to the ropes to break Tanahashi’s Texas Cloverleaf. SANADA was able to make it to his feet and fight back with a rope-hung Magic Screw and a springboard dropkick. SANADA went for the top rope moonsault, and he could see that Tanahashi had moved while he was in flight. When he landed on his feet, he felt it in his knees, and his stumble allowed Tanahashi to hit a Sling Blade. He followed up with a bridging full nelson suplex for a near fall, and looked to capitalize with the High Fly Flow. SANADA lifted his knees to block the move, but it hurt him just as much as Tanahashi. He managed to trap Tanahashi in the Skull End and soon went for the top rope moonsault again, but Tanahashi got his knees up! Feeling the pressure, SANADA tried for a hurricanrana, but Tanahashi caught his legs in midair and twisted SANADA into the Texas cloverleaf again! SANADA scratched and clawed and made it to the ropes. Tanahashi hit another Sling Blade and tried for the High Fly Flow, but SANADA hit him with a cutter in midair! With two top rope moonsaults, he stays in G1 contention.
SANADA goes to 10 points
