Kairi Sane’s WWE Future is Reportedly ‘Complicated,’ NXT Japan Update

It appears as though WWE Superstar Kairi Sane’s future with the company is still very much up in the air. Fightful recently described the situation for the Japanese Superstar as “complicated” in nature.

Kairi Sane hasn’t been featured on WWE television since sustaining an injury against Nia Jax on RAW. That match took place at the end of May; with Sane having to receive treatment for the head injury she sustained.

Prior to the injury, there were plans for Sane to have a change of role within WWE. The ‘Pirate Princess’ was expected to return to Japan and be an ‘ambassador’ for WWE. This reportedly was the case as of May before the injury.

As of this writing, it is unclear as to whether the move was to coincide with the rumored NXT Japan expansion. WWE did note that there are no plans for the Japanese version of the brand currently due to the ongoing COVID-19 Coronavirus situation.

There are many within WWE who want to see Kairi Sane continue to wrestle for the company; although at this time there is no confirmation either way on how she will proceed.

Backstage Update On Buckle Bombs Being Banned In WWE

It was reported yesterday that WWE has banned the use of Buckle Bombs (power bombing someone into a turnbuckle). In an update to this story, Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that the botched move from Nia Jax to Kairi Sane in a match on RAW from April is what led to the move being banned.

“Remember the show a couple of weeks ago where Nia Jax wrestled Kairi Sane and she threw her in there and we were all worried?” Meltzer asked his co-host. “I think she was going for the middle one and I think she hit the bottom one but whatever, it didn’t look good. That was the one that caused it.”

It was also stated that there were those in the company uneasy with the move after Sting’s injury from 2015. Sting suffered an injury after taking a Buckle Bomb from Seth Rollins at Night of Champions 2015. It was the final match of Sting’s career.

“Because of what happened to Sting, I was almost surprised it didn’t happen then,” Meltzer continued. “There were people who were wanting it banned before that. It was one of those things where there were people against it and then when that thing happened it was kind of like that was the straw that broke the camel’s back and Vince banned it.”

He would continue to say, however, that he has not heard of powerbombs onto the ring apron or barricades being banned.

The Buckle Bomb has Been Added to WWE’s List Of Banned Moves

WWE has added a new move to its list of banned-maneuvers.

According to a report from PW Insider, WWE Superstars are now not permitted to use turnbuckle bombs in their matches. These are moves where a performer is lifted up and thrown into the corner landing on the turnbuckle.

Sting’s career-ending injury took place when he took a turnbuckle powerbomb from Seth Rollins. Last month, Kairi Sane took a nasty-looking spill into the corner when a similar move was given by Nia Jax but resulted in Sane landing short of the turnbuckle.

WWE has banned several moves in the past. Some return while others do not. Piledrivers have been banned for some time, though some wrestlers have used the move sparingly including the Canadian Destroyer version in WWE. Rey Mysterio and Andrade used the move on Smackdown last year in a match.

Seth Rollins’ Curb Stomp was also banned for several months by WWE. Rollins has since been permitted to use the move again.

Kairi Sane Injured At WWE Tapings

WWE taped next week’s episode of RAW at the Performance Center yesterday. During the show, Kairi Sane was injured while performing in a match with Nia Jax. According to a report from Wrestling Observer Radio, Kairi Sane was bloodied up after hitting the ring steps during the match.

“Everyone who I’ve talked to has said no one’s blaming Nia Jax, this was not Nia Jax’s fault even though other things have been,” said Dave Meltzer.

“Basically Kairi Sane got whipped into the ring steps. One person said that she may have stumbled but she was trying to take it on her side. She did take it on her side, her head did hit the steps,” he continued.

“Her head hit the steps, she was bloodied up, she was knocked silly.”

It is not yet known if Kairi has a concussion or not, however. The match was stopped and it is not clear if the match will air on television or if it will be edited before airing.

Kairi’s last match to air on WWE programming was a victory over Ruby Riott. The match aired on the May 5th episode of Main Event.

Kairi Sane Returns To Action At WWE House Show

Kairi Sane returned to in-ring action after being sidelined with an injury.

It happened at Friday’s WWE live event in Lafayette, LA at the Cajundome when RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair and Natalya defeated Sarah Logan and WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Sane and Asuka.

Kairi Sane Returns To Action

Earlier in the day, she indicated that she was back for in-ring action as she posted the following on her official Twitter account:

Kairi Sane Possibly Injured During TLC Main Event

Stephanie McMahon Comments On Kairi Sane’s Injury

Stephanie McMahon has commented on the hot story thus far this week involving Kairi Sane.

The WWE Chief Brand Officer did so while doing a recent interview with Alex McCarthy of talkSPORT. This is where McMahon confirmed that Sane did get hurt but made it known that she wasn’t backstage at the show.

Stephanie McMahon Comments

“So I can’t really speak to the mood at that stage or what the communication was. I loved that it was the main event and I’m so sorry Kairi got hurt. The match was absolutely over-delivering up until the point that happened.”

It’s been well documented that Sane suffered an injury, which is believed to be a concussion, at the WWE TLC pay-per-view event. This is where The Kabuki Warriors retained WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships.

They went over RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch & Charlotte Flair to retain the titles.

On Tuesday, it was revealed that the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion has been pulled from the post-Christmas WWE live event tour.

Thus, this means that since next Monday’s episode of RAW is taped, she won’t work another WWE show for the rest of 2019.

WWE has yet to publicly comment on her injury or when she’ll be back to in-ring action.

WWE Pulls Kairi Sane From Upcoming Tour

The latest on Kairi Sane has surfaced online.

The WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion has been pulled from the post-Christmas WWE live event tour. WWE has yet to publicly comment on her injury or when she’ll be back to in-ring action.

It should be noted that she made a brief appearance during Asuka’s match on Monday Night RAW this week. She will also appear on television next week on RAW but is not slated to wrestle.

This comes after may have suffered a potential concussion during the first-ever Women’s TLC Tag Team Title Match at the WWE TLC pay-per-view event.

In the contest, WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions The Kabuki Warriors went over RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch & Charlotte Flair to retain the titles.

Kairi Sane Injury Update, How WWE Officials Felt About The Situation

WWE will hold a live event as part of the post-Christmas tour at Madison Square Garden on December 26th. Originally, Sane and Asuka were scheduled to defend their titles in a Steel Cage match against Flair and Lynch.

However, due to Sane no longer being medically cleared to compete, it will be a Triple Threat Cage Match with Asuka vs. Lynch vs. Flair, at this scheduled show.

Kairi Sane Injury Update

An update on Kairi Sane has surfaced online.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions The Kabuki Warriors made their latest title defense against RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch & Charlotte Flair at the WWE TLC pay-per-view event and the champs went over.

After the show, the concern that Sane may have suffered a potential concussion during the contest started to go around.

It has been confirmed that Sane did suffer an injury but the exact type isn’t known. What is known is the fact that Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet reported on Monday evening that Sane is not cleared to wrestle.

According to the report, Sane seemed to have been knocked out in the first few minutes of the match. This is why it looked like she was out of it during parts of the match.

Satin added that Sane was checked out by doctors after the show. This is where it was noted that it had been determined she’s not cleared to wrestle at this time.

The Kabuki Warriors Win First-Ever Women’s Tag Team TLC Match

Sane did share a minor update on her own by tweeting a thumbs up to indicate she’s doing okay.

Dave Meltzer reported on F4Wonline that it’s “pretty much universally agreed” the situation with Sane was handled poorly. According to the report, the feeling is a doctor should have been sent out during the main event, with the power to stop the match if needed.

There’s also the feeling the match should’ve gone straight to the finish or taken Sane to the back with Asuka left to work a Handicap Match.

The main issue with a direction change like that was that they weren’t doing a title change, according to the report. Asuka defeating both challengers by herself would have required many changes in plans.

Kairi Sane Possibly Injured During TLC Main Event

It appears that Kairi Sane might have been legitimately injured during the main event of Sunday’s WWE TLC pay-per-view.

The match saw WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions The Kabuki Warriors defending the gold against Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch. All four women took big bumps during the bout.

Sane in particular was not moving well after a few high-impact moves. There were several spots where it looked like she was not conscious of her surroundings.

Bryan Alvarez of F4Wonline.com provided an update on her health after the show. He revealed that she was examined by the doctors after the bout and the belief is that she suffered a concussion during the match.

It’s unknown when exactly in the match she suffered the injury. There was a spot where both Lynch and Flair were throwing monitors off of the announcers’ table and one of the pieces ended up hitting Kairi’s head. You can check out the spot below:

WWE did not officially announce Kairi Sane was injured, but did say that a medical update will be announced Monday.

First-Ever Women’s TLC Tag Team Title Match Officially Announced

A new match has been announced for the upcoming WWE TLC PPV.

This match was locally advertised last month when promotional material for this show first surfaced. Also, WWE has been building up to this contest over the past few weeks of television with Flair feuding with Asuka and Kairi Sane.

WWE presents the TLC pay-per-view event on Sunday, December 15, 2019 in Minneapolis at the Target Center that will air on the WWE Network. Here is the updated card:

Charlotte Flair To Compete In Handicap Match On Monday’s WWE Raw

WWE has announced on their website that Charlotte Flair will be competing in a 2-on1 handicap match on Monday’s WWE Raw against The Kabuki Warriors, Asuka and Kairi Sane.

Charlotte has felt Asuka’s green mist twice now, and The Queen will try to get revenge on Monday night.

At the Survivor Series event, Flair got into an altercation with fellow Team Raw member Asuka which ended up with The Empress of Tomorrow spitting mist on Charlotte’s face.

On the past week’s Raw, Charlotte faced Asuka and once again the poison mist did its work and Asuka was able to win. Now Flair will go against both Asuka and Kairi Sane to get her revenge.

This is part of building up the story leading to the Starrcade event set for 1 December. The Kabuki Warriors will be defending their titles against Becky Lynch and Charlotte in a Fatal 4-way tag team match. The other two teams are Bayley & Sasha Banks, and Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross.

You can catch live coverage of Raw on Monday night here on SEScoops.

Update On WWE Contracts Of Kairi Sane & Shinsuke Nakamura

There has been a lot of activity in terms of wrestler contracts recently with WWE trying to sign many wrestlers to longer-term deals and some others asking for their release.

Now latest reports have provided an update on the contract of two more WWE stars suggesting that one of them might be looking to leave the company soon.

Dave Meltzer revealed on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio that the contract of WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Kairi Sane is set to expire early next year.

Meltzer said that he hasn’t heard about Sane re-signing with the promotion yet. While Asuka seems to be happy in United States, Kairi has expressed interest in exploring other options so it’s possible that she leaves the company when her deal ends.

Though on the other hand, one Japanese star who won’t be leaving the company anytime soon is the current Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura.

A fan had asked Meltzer about Nakamura’s status recently and replying to it, the Wrestling Journalist had revealed that the current Champion has signed a contract extension with WWE a few months ago.

By re-signing, Nakamura has joined the list of stars who have signed contract extensions with the company in recent times including the likes of Roman Reigns and Randy Orton.

Asuka & Kairi Sane Win Women’s Tag Team Titles At WWE Hell In A Cell

Asuka and Kairi Sane are the new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions.

As seen at the WWE Hell in a Cell pay-per-view event in Sacramento, California at the Golden 1 Center, Kabuki Warriors beat Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross to win the titles.

This was a last-minute match addition as the company only announced it a few hours before the show went live on WWE’s streaming service. This marks the first time that the two stars have held the straps.

WWE Hell In A Cell 2019 Results & Live Coverage (10/6)

This also comes after the company hadn’t done much with Asuka and Sane on television as of late as their push was dropped once their manager, Paige, had to undergo neck surgery.

Bliss and Cross beat The IIconics (Billie Kay & Peyton Royce) to win the titles and begin their reign as champs back on the August 5th episode of Monday Night RAW in Pittsburgh, PA at the PPG Paints Arena as part of a Fatal 4-Way Match.

Sane, Asuka, Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose were also featured in this contest.

As of this writing, there’s no word yet on when Bliss and Cross will get their rematch for the titles.

Asuka and Sane picked up the win at this show with the finish being Sane pinned Royce after the insane elbow. As of this writing, there’s no word yet on when this title match could take place. It’s possible that this match will be added to the Extreme Rules lineup.

Paige Talks About New Manager Role

Paige has recently returned to WWE programming, managing the new tag team of Kairi Sane and Asuka. Before that, she had been missing from SmackDown Live ever since being removed as SmackDown’s General Manager position.

In an interview with ComicBook.com, Paige addressed being unceremoniously removed from her General Manager role, and her new manager responsibilities.

“I was sad because I loved that role,” she admitted. “I had such a good time with it, and it pushed my boundaries a little bit because I had multiple promos in a day and I wasn’t used to that. So it really helped me grow creatively and professionally. But I was excited about another role. I was like, ‘Okay, no worries,’ because I knew the WWE would take care of me. They always do.”

“I pitched to manage Ronda Rousey, kind of like the Paul Heyman-Brock Lesnar thing,” she said. “And then also be with Asuka, because Asuka had trouble speaking on the mic sometimes. As much as she’s an amazing athlete, an incredible wrestler, and I was like, ‘I’ll help her, give me the microphone, I’ll talk for her.’ And then Paul Heyman called me one day and said, ‘We have a great role for you. You can be the next me with these two women.’ I was like, ‘Wow, what a crazy tag team, they’re incredible…Absolutely, I’ll take it!’ “

Paige has openly expressed her interest in managing talent in the past, and having Paul Heyman’s support would undoubtedly bolster her spirits in managing talent—even if it isn’t Ronda Rousey in the way she had envisioned.

Identity Of Kairi Sane & Asuka’s SDL Opponents, Ken Shamrock Calls Out Brian Cage

On last night’s (Tues. May 1, 2019) episode of SmackDown Live, the Paige-led team of Kairi Sane and Asuka continued to impress. The duo defeated a pair of enhancement talents on the blue brand. WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions The IIconics (Billie Kay and Peyton Royce) were on commentary for the match.

Sane and Asuka’s opponents have now been identified as local talents Queen Aminata and Jaylee. Check out some highlights from their match with Sane and Asuka here:

Ken Shamrock Calls Out Brian Cage

Ken Shamrock has been working some indy professional wrestling shows for the past several months since November. However, it looks like the former UFC and WWE star wants to take things to the next level. Shamrock took to Twitter yesterday and called out IMPACT World Champion Brian Cage.

Cage responded by saying he thinks Shamrock’s time has passed, but would be honored to share the ring with him if the opportunity presented itself:

Cage captured the IMPACT World Championship from Johnny Impact over the weekend at the Rebellion pay-per-view (PPV). Unfortunately, Cage suffered an injury during the match that forced him to be immediately hospitalized after the event.

In a recent interview, Cage sounded optimistic about making a return soon, and doesn’t anticipate being sidelined for a long time.

Paige Has “No Doubt” Asuka & Kairi Sane Will Be Women’s Tag Team Champions

Paige delivered on the promise she made last week on SmackDown Live this past Tuesday. During the show, she brought in new challengers for the IIconics’ Women’s Tag Team Championships. She would reveal the new team of Asuka and (now former) NXT Superstar, Kairi Sane.

After their first matchup on the blue brand, Kayla Braxton caught up with the three backstage. She asked Paige why she wanted to bring Asuka and Kairi together as a team.

“Uh, they’re both incredible athletes,” Paige said. “I mean, she [Asuka] was a SmackDown Women’s Champion already; Kairi, you were NXT Women’s Champion too, right? And they’re absolutely killing it. I mean, why wouldn’t you put them together? I mean, this is genius, right? Are you guys having a good time already? They won their first match already, hello?”

When asked about their motivations and goals on SmackDown, Paige revealed they were “[…] going to become WWE Women’s tag team champions, that’s all I’m going to say. Right? You’re going to be tag team champs, ladies. 100%, there’s no doubt in my mind.”

The team partnered with other SmackDown newcomers, Ember Moon and Bayley, emerging victorious in an 8-woman tag team match. They defeated the IIconics, Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose.

Another WWE NXT Star Set To Work Main Roster Live Events

Another WWE NXT star is slated to work some main roster live events. That talent is former NXT Women’s Champion Kairi Sane. The news was reported first by PWinsider.com as she is slated to work house shows in March on the SmackDown Live brand.

This will not mark the first time that Sane has worked with main roster talent as she competed in the second edition of the Women’s Royal Rumble Match at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view event in Phoenix, Arizona.

Also, earlier this month, she made a surprise appearance in Vancouver, BC at the Rogers Arena at a WWE live event where she made the save for Carmella. Sane and Carmella teamed up in a match to defeat Peyton Royce and Billie Kay at the show.

It was reported earlier this week that WWE officials have talked about having WWE NXT Superstar Candice LeRae work some upcoming SmackDown live events.

The highlight of Sane’s career in WWE NXT was when she beat Shayna Baszler to win the NXT Women’s Title at WWE NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn 4 event in Brooklyn, New York at the Barclays Center at the Center.

Kairi Sane Reacts To Surprise Main Roster Appearance, Big E On Names Of RAW Stars Being Changed

Kairi Sane Reacts To Main Roster In-Ring Debut

WWE NXT star Kairi Sane tweeted about making a surprise appearance this past Saturday night in Vancouver, BC at the Rogers Arena at a WWE live event where she made the save for Carmella. For those who may have missed it, Sane and Carmella teamed up in a match to defeat Peyton Royce and Billie Kay at the show.

She wrote, “Last weekend, I participated in the #SmackDown Live house shows for the first time. Everyone was really kind and it was such a moving experience. Thank you so much for giving me this great opportunity Ahoy??”

This isn’t the first time that Sane has worked with main roster talent as she competed in the second edition of the Women’s Royal Rumble Match at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view event in Phoenix, Arizona.

Big E On Names Of RAW Stars Being Changed

Fans who were watching Monday’s episode of RAW noticed that Heavy Machinery’s Otis Dozovic and Tucker Knight have become the two latest stars to undergo a name change as they are now just going by Otis and Tucker.

Former WWE Tag Team Champion Big E noticed this change and decided to tweet about it when he wrote, “Welcome to the club, boys. Silver lining: autograph sessions are much quicker.”

WWE NXT Star Makes Surprise Appearance At Live Event

There was one WWE NXT star who made a surprise appearance at a recent main roster event. WWE held a live event on Saturday night in Vancouver, BC at the Rogers Arena where Kairi Sane made the surprise save for Carmella.

It all went down when Carmella was facing The IIconics. As a result, this led to Sane and Carmella teaming up in a match to defeat Peyton Royce and Billie Kay. This isn’t the first time that Sane has worked with main roster talent as she competed in the second edition of the Women’s Royal Rumble Match at last Sunday’s Royal Rumble pay-per-view event in Phoenix, Arizona.

2 Matches Announced For Pre-Takeover NXT Tapings On Saturday

Before NXT Takeover: Phoenix gets going on the WWE Network at 8 PM est tomorrow night, 2 matches will be taped. Both will air on next week’s episode of NXT. The new matches for Saturday’s show in Phoenix’s Talking Stick Arena were made on NXT programming last night.

Marina Shafir & Jessamyn Duke will take on Io Shirai & Kairi Sane.

The Street Profits will also take on the Forgotten Sons.

– WWE NXT Recap & Results (1/23)

Marina Shafir & Jessamyn Duke vs Io Shirai & Kairi Sane

The 4 Horsewomen of MMA played a pivotal role in Shayna Baszler’s victory over Kairi Sane at the last Takeover event. This Takeover, Sane gets a chance at revenge when she teams up with her fellow Stardom alumni, Io Shirai.

The 4 Horsewomen tandem of Shafir & Duke is 0-1 on NXT programming. They lost their first match against the team of Io Shirai and Dakota Kai on the November 28th tapings.

Io Shirai is 6-2 on WWE programming. Her only single’s loss came in the finals of the Mae Young Classic this year. She was defeated by Toni Storm. Her only other loss was in a fatal 4-way match which was won by Bianca Belair, earning her the right to face Baszler on Saturday.

Kairi Sane is 17-4 in single’s matches on WWE programming. Her only losses have been to Shayna Baszler (3x) and Lacey Evans once. She’s 1-0 in tag matches and 1-3 in multi-person matches.

The Forgotten Sons vs The Street Profits

The Forgotten Sons are 3-1 on NXT programming. Their only loss was to Heavy Machinery. Their most notable win thus far was against the Street Profits in their debut on the August 23rd set of tapings.

The Street Profits went 3-5 on NXT programming in 2018. They are 1-0 to start 2019, however, and are also the current EVOLVE tag team champions.

Kairi Sane Contracts Hand-Foot-And-Mouth Disease

Former NXT Women’s Champion Kairi Sane revealed on Twitter that she is diagnosed with hand, foot and mouth disease.

Hand, foot and mouth disease is an infectious illness and often seen in young children. The 2017 Mae Young Classic Winner is confused as to why she has contracted a disease that children under age 10 are most likely to catch.

“The fever has gone down, but now my hands, feet, and mouth have a mysterious eczema… Ouch you go to the hospital with it? (even in the United States, Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease) It is a disease that infants under 5-years-old have been examined. Why did the virus enter my body by mistake?”, wrote the 30 year-old on Twitter in Japanese.

The viral infection can be contracted by adults too, even though it commonly only affects children. There is no treatment required as it is not serious and it generally goes away within a week or two.

We at SEScoops wish Kairi Sane a speedy recovery.

Kairi Sane Accidentally Throws Title Belt Into Crowd At NXT Tapings (Video)

New NXT Women’s Champion, Kairi Sane, lost and regained her championship in quick succession recently but it is unlikely fans will be shown this on NXT programming. The Pirate Princess has landed on the blooper reel for accidentally throwing her title belt into the crowd as she was making her entrance.

Sane’s championship entrance involves her opening a treasure chest to find the championship belt. Also in the treasure chest are gold coins which Sane then throws into the crowd. As she was throwing the coins into the crowd, however, she lost grip on the title.

Watch: Kairi Sane accidentally throws her Women’s Championship belt in the audience at NXT Live Event:

Kairi Sane NXT Women’s Champion

Sane is the 8th NXT Women’s Champion in the title’s 5-year lineage. Paige, Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks, Bayley, Asuka, Ember Moon, and Shayna Baszler are the only others to hold the belt.

Most records for this title are owned by Asuka. Her 510-day reign with the title included 11 successful title defenses which aired on WWE programming (i.e not house shows).

The Women’s roster on the North American version of NXT has several wrestlers who could move into title contention soon. Bianca Belair is undefeated on the brand, Lacey Evans has gotten a few people talking, and of course, there is also Candice LeRae and former champion, Shayna Baszler, who would like to get the next crack at the title.

Kairi Sane Wins Women’s Title At NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn 4

There is a new WWE NXT Women’s Champion and that’s Kairi Sane. As seen at Saturday’s (August 18, 2018) WWE NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn 4 event in Brooklyn, New York at the Barclays Center at the Center on the WWE Network, Sane beat Shayna Baszler to win the title.

If you recall, Sane defeated Baszler in the tournament finals of the first Mae Young Classic that took place last year. She was then signed by the WWE and placed in the NXT brand.

Sane is the eighth champion in the history of the NXT Women’s Title as the first champion was Paige in 2013. Baszler held the title for 133 days after beating Ember Moon to win it at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans during WrestleMania 34 weekend on April 7, 2018 at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The fallout from this match will continue once WWE holds the next set of TV tapings this Thursday in Winter Park, Florida at Full Sail University. It’s likely that Baszler will get her rematch for the gold on an upcoming episode of NXT or perhaps later this year at the next Takeover special.

The company is slated to hold their next Takeover event, NXT TakeOver: Los Angeles, during Survivor Series pay-per-view weekend on Saturday, November 17, 2018 in Los Angeles, California at the Staples Center.
