Kaitlyn Reflects On WWE Comeback In Mae Young Classic, Titus Worldwide Returns

    – As seen this past Wednesday on the WWE Network, Mia Yim sent Kaitlyn packing from the Mae Young Classic by beating the former Divas Champion in a Second-Round Match. Yim scored the victory by forcing Kaitlyn to submit to the kneebar.

Following the match, Kaitlyn — real name Celeste Bonin — took to Instagram to reflect on her WWE comeback.

“My match with @miayimofficial was one of my favorite of all time. The match itself was so dope and Mia is such a powerful woman in so many ways,” Kaitlyn wrote.

“But For me, it was exceptionally meaningful to come back after so many years and to leave it all out there in the ring and offer my contribution to the evolution of women’s wrestling. The evolution of the division is parallel to my evolution as a person and as a competitor/performer. Man I love wrestling. Congrats to @miayimofficial. She deserves it. Much respect to her.”

    – Although Apollo Crews and Titus O’Neil have not appeared together on television since the night after SummerSlam, they’re still a unit.

Crews and O’Neil teamed up for the first time in four weeks at last night’s WWE live event in Syracuse, New York. Titus Worldwide teamed with Tyler Breeze to beat The Ascension and Mike Kanellis in a Six-Man Tag Team Match.

This was also O’Neil’s first match since September 15 (teaming with Crews at a live event), and Crews’ first since September 24 (beating Breeze in a match taped for WWE Main Event). Crews and O’Neil have not wrestled together on television since losing to AOP on Raw on August 20. It was also their last appearance on Raw.

Kaitlyn On If Mae Young Classic Can Be A Springboard For Her Career

Kaitlyn had taken a break from wrestling after being released from WWE in 2014, but she returned to ring earlier this year, and since then the company has brought her back to work the second annual Mae Young Classic tournament.

During a recent interview with ESPN, the former Diva’s Champion talked about a lot of things including her days in NXT, how things have changed since then and more.

When asked about being part of Mae Young Classic and if this can serve as a springboard for her career, the former Champion said that she does see herself going through the NXT route to the main roster again:

“Now that I’ve been there and done it, the stakes are higher, the level of competition is higher, so I see myself just going through it, going through the Mae Young Classic, going through NXT, going through the SmackDown roster, going through the Raw roster. I know I’m capable of it, and I think the Mae Young Classic is just the beginning.”

Kaitlyn won the third season of NXT back when it was still a reality show and was rewarded a WWE contract. Her run lasted till July 2014 after which she took a break from wrestling.

She returned to ring earlier this year and started competing in the independent circuit. In July this year, WWE announced that she will be returning to the company to compete at the Mae Young Classic.

The Mae Young Classic continued last night on the WWE Network. Matches 9-12 would air as the tournament enters the second half of the 1st round.

    Mae Young Classic Results 9/19

    Kaitlyn defeated Kavita Devi

Former Divas Champion Kaitlyn returned to WWE in victorious fashion last night. She defeated the Indian prospect, Kavita Devi.

Cole mentioned that Devi’s match with Dakota Kai in last year’s tournament generated 28 million views on YouTube. Fellow prospects Rinku Singh and Saurav Gurjar were shown sitting ringside and cheering for Devi.

Kaitlyn picked up the win with a spear.

    Toni Storm defeated Jinny

There was some Australian unity displayed when Toni Storm made her entrance last night. The Iiconics were ringside and made a point of showing their support for Storm.

The “Fashionista” Jinny and Storm have met several times before, including one year at WrestleMania Axxess. Storm tied the all-time series between the two at 5 with the win. She hit a tiger driver (Storm Zero) for the win.

    Xia Li defeated Karen Q

This martial arts focused contest featured two wrestlers from China. Karen Q has been competing for Ring of Honor as of late, whereas Xia Li is in the WWE developmental system. Li picked up the win with a flipping ax kick after Q missed a frog splash. She’ll face Deonna Purrazzo in the 2nd round.

    Mia Yim defeated Allysin Kay

Yim has been the subject of some speculation as of late. She stepped into the ring last night to enter the Mae Young Classic for the 2nd straight year. For the second straight year, she made it past the 1st round as well. She took out the former Sienna with her finisher, Seoul Food.

    Mia Yim vs Allysin Kay

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P2FXOKziAV4

These two former Knockouts Champions will clash inside a WWE ring tonight. Kay once won the Knockouts Championship from Yim in a triple threat match also involving Gail Kim. That match took place at Slammiversary in 2016.

They’ve only met in single’s action once before, however. That was on an episode of Xplosion when Yim defeated Kay in October of 2016. Yim wrestled in TNA as Jade and Kay as Sienna.

    Kaitlyn vs Kavita Devi

Former Divas Champion, Kaitlyn returns to the ring tonight. She made an abrupt exit from the business 4 years ago despite only being 27 at the time. Kaitlyn got back into wrestling earlier this year in preparation for the tournament. She’ll be in tough tonight with the gigantic Kavita Devi though, one of WWE’s top prospects from India.

    Toni Storm vs Jinny

It is Australia vs England in this match as Toni Storm takes Jinny. With the NXT United Kingdom brand starting to take shape, it seems as though these two will be near or at the top of the women’s division.

This match will be the 10th time the two have faced each other in single’s action. Jinny leads the series 5-4 but Storm has had the upper hand the one previous time they met in a WWE ring in 2017. Storm defeated Jinny at the WrestleMania Axxess show last year.

    Karen Q vs Xia Li

Li enters the tournament for the second time. She was knocked out of the 1st round last year by the highly-touted Mercedes Martinez. Tonight the martial arts expert from China will face Karen Q, a grizzled veteran of the North American scene. She’s recently been competing in Ring of Honor’s Women of Honor division.

  • Kaitlyn Returning To WWE For Mae Young Classic

Kaitlyn Returning To WWE For Mae Young Classic

Former WWE Divas Champion Kaitlyn recently did an interview with ESPN to discuss the news of her return to the company for the Mae Young Classic Tournament. She commented on how much she has grown since leaving WWE several years ago:

“The thing that got me through [as a rookie in WWE] and the thing that allowed me to achieve my level of success was my attitude, and looking back now, I am coming back with experience. I am certainly nervous because the level of competition is so much higher and there are so many different women from around the world and they bring skill levels. But it’s just so exciting.

“Since I came back, I had the opportunity to work backward and really nail down the fundamentals and the basics — things that I really lacked during my first run with the WWE. Now I am bringing these newly honed and developed skills that I have acquired recently and I am combining that with my fearless attitude. And because I don’t have this rookie vibe about me, now I can really concentrate on surprising the WWE universe with all the things I have learned.”

Initially Kaitlyn had decided to retire from professional wrestling. After four years of retirement, however, she decided to get back into the squared circle. She explained how the awesome feelings of being in a wrestling ring came back to her, prompting her to come back out of retirement for another run:

“The highs and lows and the adrenaline rushes and the quick thinking on your feet — it came rushing back to me. Anytime you step back in the ring, it’s the same rush and you never get used to it. There is always this fear and this question of ‘Oh, my gosh, can I do this?’ And to me that’s part of what makes it amazing.”

“It’s about finding things that drive you and fuel you. And you can work 18 hours a day or however many hours a day and still want to go back to the ring or do lifts in the gym. As long as you’re passionate about it, you feel happy, and to me that’s the balance.”

Former WWE Divas Champion To Make Return At Mae Young Classic

WWE has just announced that a former Divas Champion will be competing in the Mae Young Classic later this summer. After hinting for months that a return to the ring was possibly in the cards, Kaitlyn has been officially confirmed as a participant in the upcoming tournament.

Kaitlyn in the 2018 Mae Young Classic

The former Divas champion sat down with ESPN recently to discuss her return.

“The thing that got me through [as a rookie in WWE] and the thing that allowed me to achieve my level of success was my attitude, and looking back now, I am coming back with experience,” Kaitlyn said. “I am certainly nervous because the level of competition is so much higher and there are so many different women from around the world and they bring skill levels. But it’s just so exciting.”

Kaitlyn began wrestling on a few independent shows earlier this year, fueling speculation of a possible comeback.

“Since I came back, I had the opportunity to work backward and really nail down the fundamentals and the basics — things that I really lacked during my first run with the WWE,” she said. “Now I am bringing these newly honed and developed skills that I have acquired recently and I am combining that with my fearless attitude. And because I don’t have this rookie vibe about me, now I can really concentrate on surprising the WWE universe with all the things I have learned.”

Kaitlyn’s career came and went before the “women’s revolution”. She told ESPN she’s excited to get to work with such the diverse array of talent which is out there today.

“It’s seen so many different types of women of all different shapes and sizes with different skills and techniques that it is so exciting to be a part of that world again.”

The Mae Young Classic begins taping on August 8th, 2018.

Update On Possibility Of Kaitlyn Returning To WWE, Velveteen Dream Shoots On “Indy Guys Coming Into NXT”

    – Now that Kaitlyn has returned to professional wrestling a lot of rumors have been floating around about a potential return to the WWE for the former Divas Champion. PWInsider is reporting that there is currently no sign that WWE will sign Kaitlyn back to a deal. It was noted that if Kaitlyn is back in professional wrestling she likely has bigger goals than just working the independent scene.

In her first match in over four years, Celeste Bonin — better known to WWE fans as NXT season three winner and one-time Divas champion Kaitlyn — returned to the ring on Saturday night.

Bonin wrestled for Coastal Championship Wrestling at the Coral Springs Charter School gym in Coral Springs, Florida. Taking on Rachael Ellering, Bonin beat the 25-year-old after nailing her with the spear.

Here are photos and video from the match, which featured a spot where Bonin threw Ellering on top of a table.

In recent months, Bonin has been training at the Main Event Training Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida under the direction of President/Head trainer Pablo Marquez (aka Babu in WWE). During an interview last month with WSVN-TV entertainment reporter Chris Van Vliet, Bonin explained her decision to return to the ring after leaving WWE in January 2014.

“I retired pretty much four years ago and I didn’t really have any intention of going back or making any kind of come back or even wrestling for any other promotion like TNA. I was just super focused on my business and wrestling was kind of just in my past. Then when I got in the ring I was just super rusty which was a little embarrassing but I missed it so much,” Bonin said.

“I had such a tumultuous year in 2017, I went through a divorce and a bunch of changes in my company and moving warehouses and moving where I lived. I kind of fell out of a routine and I wasn’t working out and my life was kind of upside down but when I started wrestling again I kind of felt more purpose and structure and passionate about life in general again.”

  • Kaitlyn Reveals If She Has Been Contacted For The Women’s Royal Rumble

Kaitlyn Reveals If She Has Been Contacted For The Women’s Royal Rumble

Former WWE Superstar and Divas Champion Celeste Bonin (better known as Kaitlyn in WWE) was recently interviewed by WSVN-TV Entertainment reporter Chris Van Vliet to talk about several professional wrestling topics. She has since announced that she will be returning to wrestling and explained her decision to do so:

“I retired pretty much 4 years ago and I didn’t really have any intention of going back or making any kind of come back or even wrestling for any other promotion like TNA. I was just super focused on my business and wrestling was kind of just in my past. Then when I got in the ring I was just super rusty which was a little embarrassing but I missed it so much.

Bonin also explained why she isn’t allowed to wrestle under the name “Kaitlyn” anymore:

“Kaitlyn is dead. We had her funeral. It’s a name that WWE owns and it’s a character that they own. They built it and they put money into it. I don’t own it.”

With the Women’s Royal Rumble right around the corner there has been a ton of speculation as to who the WWE will be contacting to participate. Bonin said she hasn’t received a call from WWE to appear but knows they sometimes do so as late as two days before the event:

“I haven’t got a call or anything. As far I know I’m not going to be there. But they’ve been known to call you 2 days before and that’s what happened to me when I debuted on NXT. They called me on a Friday and told me I was going to debut on a Tuesday. So anything is possible in the world of professional wrestling.”

Since Bonin has departed from WWE the female division has seen a major revamp in how serious they take women’s professional wrestling. The newfound “Women’s Revolution” is something that she’s really proud of, but not necessarily envious of:

“It’s really cool to look at the woman’s division now, I’m not envious that I’m not part of it right now because I have so much other sh*t going on with my business and the other projects I’m working on, but it makes me really proud that it’s gotten to the point where it’s at right now. The girls are getting longer matches and cool stories and characters and I’m super proud of it.

“Last time Smackdown Live was in Miami, I went to see a few friends backstage and I was hanging out in the locker room and it was so cool in there and it’s not always like that. There’s different eras I guess and when I was there, there was some tension and a**holes and whatever. But it’s such a cool, chill vibe in the locker room now and it made me really proud of what they have going on right now.”

Kaitlyn Reveals Battle With Drug Addiction

Former WWE female Superstar Kaitlyn (Celeste Bonin) posted a candid message on Instagram revealing her struggle with drug addiction. Citing her ‘terrible marriage,’ Kaitlyn details her experience detoxing and how bad things got for her on the road to recovery.

“It’s been one year since I checked myself into the hospital for a medical drug detox. (I took this picture in the airport bathroom after flying into LAX.I felt so awful and disgusted with myself but I remember posting it on Instagram with some stupid caption about being happy. I was actually on the last days of the medicine to help me detox and was in a super f***ed up place mentally and physically).

Over the past few years I was in a terrible marriage, an addict and not true to myself. It took me so long to admit I had a problem… and then to admit how serious the problem was. I used to pretend to be and to live a certain way for social media. It’s everyone’s hi-light reel. I remember getting out of the hospital feeling like death, with a medical taper plan of meds and thinking “what have I done to myself?”.

I celebrated my 30th birthday 5 days later and I remember wanting to die. If you’ve ever gone through serious drug detox, you know that you basically go through two detoxes. One from the initial drug(s) and then another one from the medicine used to help you detox. A lot of people get hooked on the medicine and remain addicts. For me, I started abusing alcohol to deal with the chemical imbalances, panic attacks and sadness/depression I was experiencing.

If you know me, you know I had never done a drug in my life leading up to this (besides smoking weed once or twice and freaking the f*** out.) It’s so crazy. You can have the world at your fingertips but end up destroying yourself if you’re not careful. I’m fortunate enough to have pulled myself out of it all and was able rebuild my life …but I can seriously empathize with anyone who is, has been, or has a tendency to be an addict (we’re all addicted to something). But it’s about self awareness and humility.

Never be too proud to ask for help. Be able to wake up and look at yourself in the mirror. Tag someone who needs to read this. #addiction.”

Kaitlyn Talks About Her Friend AJ Lee Retiring From WWE, Her Future Plans & More

Former WWE Diva Kaitlyn recently spoke with the official WWE website to promote her new clothing company, talk about her friend AJ Lee retiring from WWE and more. Below ae some highlights from the interview.

On AJ Lee’s WWE retirement: “AJ has this weird ability to accomplish anything that she visualizes. So when she worked her way up to the top, she stayed up there. No one has been like her, and no one will ever be like her. She really just felt like she had given everything that she needed to give to this sport in general, and taught people — especially the Divas — as much as she could. She had four amazing WrestleManias, and she made such an impact that she felt like she could walk away and be content with that. I 100 percent support that. She knew the time was right, and knew that she could walk away. She left big shoes to fill, but she helped everyone around her get better. I’m proud of everything that she did.”

On what the future holds for her: “PJ and I just did a photo shoot for “Iron Man” Magazine, and we’re actually going to be on the cover of the May issue, with a huge spread on the inside about how we’ve gotten to where we are and how everything was built, and also our relationship. It’s awesome, because I’ve been in WWE Magazine, which was a huge honor, but I’ve never been on the cover of anything. And my husband has been in countless fitness magazines, but he’s never been on a cover either. So for us to be on a cover together, about our life, our style and our companies together, I’m so thrilled. For me right now, because Celestial Bodiez is still in its infancy, I’m completely focused on it. I just want to expand as much as possible and have new concepts still based all around the Booty Scrunch, but just to build that brand. I want everyone to know that brand, know the logo and know what Booty Scrunch is; that is my goal.”

Former WWE Diva Kaitlyn posted the following on Instagram today, which marks one-year since she requested her release from WWE.

“Today marks one year that I asked for my release from the WWE. The beginning of 2014 began on a very bitter sweet note for me. I made a life changing decision to leave the WWE and completely change my path in life. Needless to say, 2014 turned out to be the greatest year of my life personally and professionally.

While I had a wild ride with WWE and did some really cool shit, I was very unhappy the last 6 months that I was there. After having a phenomenal year with the company, I was on a downward slope. I was mostly unhappy with myself physically and it began to affect my emotional state. I had health and weight issues which in turn negatively affected my career.

I reached a breaking point and decided that I wanted to be happy and take control of my life. It was the hardest decision that I have ever faced. But if you never take risks you will Never know what could’ve been.

I am incredibly thankful for my time and experiences with WWE. WWE is a part of my story and part of who I am.

While I do miss it from time to time, I’m making strides in the shoot game of life :) 2014 marks the year that I said goodbye to my WWE family, married my soul mate, launched my own business and found myself again.

2015 has some big ass shoes to fill.”

Former WWE Diva Celeste Bonin, better known to pro wrestling fans as Kaitlyn, recently debuted a new online blog. In the blog, Kaitlyn describes how the life of a WWE Diva is truly the definition of glamor.

Below is an entry from her latest blog.

“This is about how the life of a WWE diva is truly the definition of glamour, the pure joy of being a woman (in show business… And just in general), and other lies.

Let me paint a picture for you… As I sit here writing this epic piece of reality, I’m wearing a tight pair of high waisted spandex leggings tucked into spikey stilettos. My push up bra is putting in work under my cropped denim vest. (I’m very close to looking like I’m wearing a slutty Canadian tuxedo). My hair has a soft wave to it and smells like rainbows and glitter. I have spent at least an hour applying make up, only to make it look like I’m barely wearing any at all. I’m perfectly accessorized from my gold necklace that reads “BadBitch” down to my vajazzle masterpiece (google that).

Now, if you believe I’m dressed like this while I’m sitting at home…Stop reading now. Why? Because you are precious and it would be a crime for me to rain on your parade.

There really are some ridiculous standards out there for women. The media and other outlets have really set the bar high, especially when it comes to women in the spot light.

This is a look at what really happens behind the scenes and also about the on going struggle for women like myself …and as a whole.”

The following are highlights of a new Baltimore Sun interview with former WWE Diva Kaitlyn:

Life since leaving WWE: “When I retired, it was a bit of a last-minute decision. I had been thinking about it for a while because there was a lot of things happening in my life and it was a transitional time for me. I had just gotten engaged, and I wanted to plan my wedding. I also had this project on the backburner, with this business site, that I wanted to wait to start until I retired from WWE. When I made the decision, rather quickly, to leave the WWE, I went full throttle into making my business work, while also planning a wedding. So it’s been pretty hectic.”

Does she watch WWE still? “Not regularly. I still do sometimes because I have friends there that I’m close with. I do enjoy it, I love wrestling. I’m not really focused in, or watch it every week. Maybe I will have a chance to get back into it, but I have so much going on. I will watch it occasionally though to watch my friends and those I’ve been friends with for a long time.”

Would she have stayed if WWE was focusing on Divas like they are now? “That’s a really hard question. I might have stayed a little bit longer, possibly. I just reached the point where I had done a lot of cool stuff in the WWE and traveled the world and I had the title, and I think I did some really great stuff. It wasn’t a super-hard decision to step back and leave. I can’t really go back and say I would’ve stayed longer. But it’s possible. I guess it depends on what was going on at the time, especially if there were more opportunities for more storylines like there are now. But I guess what I’m saying is that I don’t regret leaving, because I love my life. I love everything that I have going on right now.

It does make me happy to see all the girls really getting a chance to show their talent and abilities and personalities. It makes me proud to see that they’re getting a good opportunity.”

Her future: “Right now I’m really focusing on Celestial Bodiez, my new company and clothing line. It takes a lot to start from the ground up. I’m really focusing on that and continuing to steadily grow. Maybe I’ll do some more appearances in the future for wrestling and who knows from there.”

Will she wrestle again? “I don’t think I will ever wrestle again, but if I do, it would be for WWE. I just feel like that’s my place. It’s where I developed my wrestling abilities and character and that’s where I would stay if I was to wrestle again. The good thing about when I left is that I left on very good terms with the WWE. It left the door open for me if I ever wanted to come back. It’s not completely out of the question to ever return, whether it’s for a short-term or longer. Maybe there will be a point down the line that I miss wrestling bad enough that I’ll want to come back. As for now though, I’m just focusing on my company and my marriage and haven’t gotten that itch to wrestle.”
