This week on Because Wrestling, we talk about Kaitlyn’s WWE departure, an update on Mae Young, Ryback on Twitter, and everything you need to know about the WWE Network! (more…)
The following are highlights of a recent Q&A update from the official website of WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross:
On how surprised he is with Goldust’s WWE comeback this year: “Very proud of Dustin as it shows everyone what one can do with their life is they are not dependent on drugs or alcohol and then dedicate their life on doing the right things. Simple plan that works.”
On if he considers The Undertaker a heel or a babyface: “He is without question a hugely popular, character ‘face.”
On his thoughts of Kaitlyn’s WWE departure earlier this week: “I do not know the circumstances that lead to her leaving but she obviously made the decision she felt was right for her. I wish her well. Nice, young lady.”
As previously reported, WWE Diva Kaitlyn officially parted ways with the company earlier this week. As noted, the departure came as a result of Kaitlyn growing tired of WWE not doing anything with her.
According to one source, Kaitlyn had requested her release from the company several months ago, but WWE management told her to hang in there because they had some plans in mind for her. When nothing ever came to fruition, Kaitlyn apparently had enough and just wanted out.
The word right now is Kaitlyn is not looking to wrestle on the independent wrestling scene, but is open to doing personal appearances and things of that nature.

WWE.com has announced that former Divas champion Kaitlyn has been released, effective immediately:
“As of Jan. 8, Kaitlyn (Celeste Bonin) will no longer be under contract with WWE. The former Divas Champion has chosen to pursue other endeavors outside the sports-entertainment world.”
“WWE wishes Kaitlyn the best in all her future endeavors.”
Kaitlyn signed a developmental contract with WWE back in 2010 and began training at WWE’s former developmental territory, Florida Championship Wrestling. She won the all-female Season 3 of NXT and made her main roster debut in December 2010. She won her her first and only WWE Divas Championship on the 20th Anniversary episode of RAW last January.
A friend of current WWE Diva Kaitlyn recently posted a video on YouTube that shows her real-life fiancee and former bodybuilder PJ Braun asking her to marry him several weeks ago.
“PJ Braun Proposes To Celeste Bonin- Pj and his family went to see Celeste wrestle in Connecticut. This is the actual proposal that was recorded by PJ’s dad. Celeste thought he was just recording PJ telling the story of how he almost lost his bag in the airport. In actuality PJ lost the bag WITH THE RING in it. He found it and still made the plane in the last second! Here is the end of that story and the proposal.”
– In the latest issue of WWE Magazine (cover dated January 2014, featuring John Cena on the cover), Kaitlyn pays tribute to fellow Texan “Stone Cold” Steve Austin in a photo shoot. In an accompanying interview, the Hybrid Diva reveals that she would like to bring back memories of the legendary wrestler’s feud with Vince McMahon by going one-on-one with Stephanie McMahon.
Responding to a question asking her who her ideal WrestleMania opponent would be, Kaitlyn said, “Stephanie McMahon! I’d love to see our names in lights together because she seems untouchable now, and it would be epic if we could bring back memories of the Austin vs. McMahon rivalry with Kaitlyn vs. McMahon.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Kaitlyn says she is most proud of helping change the general view on the preferred mold for female wrestlers. She states, “I made it acceptable to be something other than a cookie-cutter prototype for the women in this business. I know there are a few who claim something similar, but do those ladies also look good with two different colors in their hair?”
– On Sept. 10 via Twitter, Zack Ryder revealed a goal to gain fifteen pounds by Oct. 1. “Got a lot of down time this month…gonna use the time wisely…training hard & eating A LOT…I want to gain 15 pounds by October 1st. #carbs,” he remarked. The New York native, who has sparingly appeared on WWE programming since early October (he has only appeared in two televised matches in the past sixty days, both of which aired on WWE Superstars), has indeed gained weight as he’s now up to 220 pounds (an increase from a billed weight of 214 pounds). However, not all of it is muscle.
In response to a person on Twitter calling him “fat” and a “pudgy boy” (based on a photo from a recent live event of him appearing heftier), Ryder responded, “220 and ZACKED. You must have seen a bad picture. #bulking.”
A little background information on PJ Braun, the pro bodybuilder and supplement entrepreneur who recently got engaged to WWE Diva Kaitlyn, he was arrested on March 28, 2011 in a big steroid and drug bust in Danbury, Connecticut.
Officers found Percoset, Testosterone, Decadurabolin, Halotestin and Proviron, four of which are anabolic steroids, one of which is a widely circulated pain killer, and Braun was nailed with a variety of possession charges as a result.
For the offense, Braun received probation and community service following a stint in a drug rehab program.

Production for the show began in January 2012, with ten episodes shot in Palm Springs, California over a 21-week period, including post-production. The show began filming in early February at the former house of Harpo Marx. Speaking to WWE.com, the 27-year-old discussed his unexpected wedding proposal and the beginning of this exciting new chapter in her life.
Braun first noticed Kaitlyn when she was competing on the bodybuilding stage years ago, but they did not date until recently.
“We always joked that we would probably end up together someday,” said Kaitlyn, while also noting that their busy schedules and personal lives prevented them from taking things “to the next level.” “We didn’t start dating until this summer, which is funny because he lives in Florida and I was living in Florida for three years. I finally moved back home to Houston, and we started dating shortly after that. We lived a few hours from each other for three years!”
Braun popped the question following Tuesday night’s WWE SmackDown taping at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. However, that wasn’t his original strategy.
“He was planning on asking me today [Friday] while we were in New York City, but when he got to Connecticut, he lost the ring in the airport,” Kaitlyn said. “So he sits me down in the big suite after SmackDown and we’re laughing and hanging out [with his family] and he’s telling me this ridiculous story about how he lost it and eventually found it. After that, he knew he had to ask me the very next time he saw me. I had no idea it was coming.”
