Kenny Omega has taken the time today to respond to a few WWE fans who criticized him. Here is Kenny Omega’s original tweet that drew some backlash from fans on social media.
You can't compare apples and oranges. And at the end of the day, I could easily have Cena and AJ's best match in WWE. There is no argument.
Kenny Omega recently did a Q&A for 4 Front Wrestling and answered a question about the possibility of him appearing at this Sunday’s Royal Rumble. His answer to the question during the Q&A hinted that it might not be possible for him to show up there.
Omega stated that he might “not be able to pull a rabbit out of a hat by that date.” He added that if he were to show up, he’d outlast the 29 other competitors.
Nicolas Atkin published an article today on ESPN that discussed the possibilities of Kenny Omega coming to the WWE. In a conference call to promote the UK Championship Tournament that is happening this weekend, Triple H referenced Omega,
“As far as Kenny Omega goes, I’m just interested in talent, period.”
“If somebody is talented as a performer and they wanna come work for the WWE, if they wanna come to the largest platform in the world where they can truly show what they do off on a global basis, then WWE is the choice for them. If they wanna come work for us and they’re very talented, then I’m interested in talking to them, and that’s across the board.
“To me, anytime anybody questions me on a talent — Am I interested in them? — the fact that you’re questioning me on them means that person is probably pretty talented, so, yes, I’m interested.”
He also hinted that the WWE will be looking to have more events like the United Kingdom Championship Tournament in other places in the future.
– In an effort to prevent WWE from poaching talent, New Japan Pro Wrestling has announced that they are in the process of converting their talent contracts to multi-year deals.
On WWE’s website, they currently have a poll up that asks which Superstar has been the better champion for their respective brand between Kevin Owens and AJ Styles. As of now, AJ Styles has 91% of the votes from the WWE Universe. Styles and Owens are both heel champions, yet Styles has won most of his matches on his own. Kevin Owens has relied on the assistance of Chris Jericho to retain his Universal Championship. Owens may wind up adding another championship around his waist tonight on Monday Night Raw. Roman Reigns will be defending the United States Championship against Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho later tonight.
Dave Meltzer stated on Wrestling Observer Radio that Kenny Omega’s contract with NJPW ends on January 31st this year. The Royal Rumble is taking place on January 29th and Meltzer also claims that there are rumors that Omega has already re-signed with NJPW. Meltzer noted that Omega re-signing with NJPW is unconfirmed at this point.
AJ Styles currently sits at the top of the list on ESPN’s WWE power rankings. Charlotte Flair comes in at number two and Kevin Owens is number three. You can check out the rest of ESPN’s power rankings by clicking here.
The WWE is hyping up Shawn Michael’s return to Monday Night Raw tonight on Twitter by posting Michaels return in 2002 in which he was announced as the newest member of the NWO.
Last night at the Golden Globes, actress Meryl Streep gave a political speech. During the speech, Streep also took a jab at MMA and the NFL. Streep stated:
Hollywood is crawling with outsiders and foreigners, if we kick them all out you’ll have nothing to watch but football and mixed martial arts, which are not the arts.
Dolph Ziggler sent out a Tweet earlier in response to that comment from Streep. The WWE’s official account has since retweeted Ziggler’s post.
John Cena continues to post photos on Instagram in an effort to get fans discussing Kenny Omega joining the WWE. Cena recently posted a picture of Omega on his Instagram and has now posted a picture of Kenny from South Park. You can view that post by clicking here.
John Cena posted a photo of Kenny Omega on his Instagram account. This is nothing new for Cena, as he has posted pictures of AJ Styles and CM Punk in the past. Following his loss to Okada at Wrestle Kingdom 11, Omega has stated that he is leaving Japan. This could be Cena just getting the fans riled up or Omega may be making his way to the WWE. Cena posted a picture of AJ Styles on his Instagram just four days before he made his WWE debut at last year’s Royal Rumble. This has led many to speculate that Omega might make an appearance at this year’s Royal Rumble.
In a Impact Digital Exclusive, The Wolves (Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards) challenged Matt and Jeff Hardy. The teams will meet on this week’s episode of Impact with the Tag Team Championships on the line. You can check out the video below.
After competing in the main event of New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Wrestle Kingdom XI main event earlier this week, Kenny Omega has announced that he’s “stepping away from Japan” to reassess his future. I will be stepping away from Japan to reassess my future. The path of my journey may change, but my goals will not. pic.twitter.com/E4vDiGgAwe
When asked by several fans what’s next for him, Omega said, “There is no plan. My schedule is cleared and I’m weighing all options. I’ve a lot to consider.” He also thanked everyone for their continued patience and support.

New Japan Pro Wrestling star and Bullet Club member Kenny Omega recently spoke about winning this year’s G1 Climax tournament, how different Japanese wrestling is from WWE and why he thinks it’s embarrassing for Kota Ibushi to be booked as a junior/cruiserweight in WWE.
Omega has tremendous respect for WWE Cruiserweight Classic competitor Kota Ibushi. He’s been “chasing” Ibushi for almost a decade now and feels that he finally surpassed him by winning the G1 Climax Tournament. However, he can’t believe Ibushi is content working as a ‘junior’ in WWE and looks forward to wrestling him back in New Japan.
“There are precious few people that can change the face of pro wrestling. It may even just be the two of us. So I’m going to stay here in New Japan, doing my best and waiting for him,” Omega said. “(At the G1 finals) I finally surpassed him. I was chasing Ibushi for eight years and finally outgrew him. I hope that’s inspiration for him, right? It’s not like I could go to WWE and be a junior, there’s no point in that. For him to go do that, be a junior in WWE, isn’t that embarrassing? I can do so much more here.”
He elaborated on the differences between Japanese Wrestling and WWE. There’s no question that WWE has the best production values of any pro wrestling promotion. The pyro and music are the best, but Omega thinks WWE uses slick presentation to mask the fact that their in-ring product is inferior to New Japan.
“For a wrestler there’s obvious pride involved. People are noticing you, for me to have a match of the year, it says that people hold my original style in high esteem. But it isn’t just for me, but Japanese wrestling at large. There are a lot of fans who think WWE is the top of the pile. Obviously their pyro, music, production is the best. But from where I stand, in ring isn’t the best. It’s fun to watch such a high budget production, but they use that to hide a lot of weaknesses.”
