Kenny Omega’s Diverticulitis Battle Continues As Surgery Seems Likely

AEW lost a top player when Kenny Omega went out of action. He was 1/2 of the #1 Contenders for the AEW World Tag Team Titles at the time, and a championship match was set. Suddenly, diverticulitis took one of the best pro wrestlers out of commission.

Kenny Omega continues to experience significant discomfort due to diverticulitis, and there is a high likelihood that he will need surgery. Although nothing has been 100% confirmed yet, it appears that may need to happen for The Cleaner to return to the ring.

Omega’s Likely Surgery

Although Tony Khan recently said he is optimistic about Kenny Omega’s progress, it appears that the former AEW World Champion is on the verge of surgery.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that Kenny Omega is still in a lot of pain from his diverticulitis. That means that, although no decision has been made, surgery is a very likely option for him.

While no decision has been made, it looks more likely than not that Kenny Omega will be getting surgery on his intestines. He’s had his ups and downs but has largely been dealing with a good amount of pain for months now. He said surgery is becoming more and more likely as two different doctors have told him they think it’s the best option.

What’s Next For Kenny Omega

It’s uncertain whether Kenny Omega will undergo surgery, but it’s increasingly likely, especially if he intends to return to wrestling and resume his career. The potential surgery would involve removing the perforated sections of his intestine and colon to improve his condition.

Comparisons are drawn to Davey Boy Smith Jr. and Brock Lesnar, who returned to pro wrestling successfully after facing similar health challenges. It was also noted that Omega’s situation with diverticulitis was particularly severe and life-threatening.

Kenny Omega was “fired” from The Elite in an AEW angle. That was done to keep him off television, but it could also set up a match against Okada whenever the time comes. Hopefully, The Cleaner will make his return sooner than later.

Kenny Omega Says Five-Star Match Ratings Shouldn’t Be Handed Out Like Candy

Kenny Omega may also be thinking the rating of matches may have “jumped the shark” and that a few factors should be considered when doing it.

The former AEW World Champion was hanging out on his Twitch channel when the subject of match ratings came up. Omega laid out his own base vision of how a bout should be graded.

“Did it start a movement? Did it continue a movement? Was it something that became something that sort of etched in the annals of history for like all time? I believe that’s what an actual five-star match should accomplish.”

Omega has had his fair share of five-star matches  courtesy of the Wrestling Observer, yet Omega does think that the stars shouldn’t be thrown around liberally.

“You shouldn’t just hand them out like candy. It shouldn’t be because the moves look good. It should be because the moves look like they hurt. It’s a perfect blend of everything that you try to do and accomplish as a professional wrestler and that’s without exposing the trade secrets.”

Oh “It’s True”, Not Everybody Deserving Got A Five-Star Rating

Names like Omega, Will Ospreay and Kazuchika Okada prompted Meltzer to buck his own ratings system by adding a “sixth” and “seventh” star to some matches and the gimmick of star ratings contines to cause plenty of polarizing opinions online.

A WWE Hall Of Famer who happened to never receive a five-star rating from Meltzer is Kurt Angle. In the past, Angle has playfully dismissed the process, but on the very same Twitch stream that Omega critiques the ratings system, he also noted that ‘The Olympic Hero’ was his all-time favorite wrestler.

Kenny Omega Explains Why Kurt Angle Is ‘The Most Complete Wrestler Of All Time’

Kurt Angle is one of the greatest to ever lace up his boots, and Kenny Omega would agree with that. The former AEW World Champion recently explained why Angle is his favorite.

Kenny Omega is a student of the game, but his go-to is Kurt Angle. The AEW EVP explained on his Twitch stream why he considers Kurt Angle his favorite.

Kenny Omega Praises Kurt Angle

While speaking on his Twitch stream, Kenny Omega went into why Kurt Angle is the most complete wrestler in his book. He embodies, not only what a physical performer can do with any style, but also his ability to embrace the lighter side of things.

“I do think that Kurt Angle is the greatest, I can’t just say in-ring performer, to me he’s just the most complete wrestler of all time. He’s my favorite. He’s my go-to guy to study for me. Being an athletic guy who wants to mesh well and compliment every wrestling style, but also not, I’m also not, if anyone is familiar with me, I’m not above embarrassing myself and doing silly things, and that is a lot of what Kurt did on TV.”

Kurt Angle certainly took part in some memorable comedy segments. Kenny Omega can say the same, as he’s let loose on many occasions, whether it was on Being The Elite or AEW television.

Omega’s Current Recovery Progress

Kenny Omega is currently on an indefinite break from wrestling. Last December, he revealed he was dealing with diverticulitis, a serious condition affecting the large intestine, which requires time off for recovery.

Omega is not the only pro wrestler who has dealt with this illness. WWE wrestlers Brock Lesnar and Shane McMahon have also experienced diverticulitis, with Lesnar undergoing surgery in November 2009 before returning to UFC competition eight months later.

Tony Khan is optimistic about Kenny Omega’s return to the ring. That being said, there is no return timetable for The Cleaner just yet.

Tony Khan is Optimistic About Kenny Omega’s AEW Return After Diverticulitis Battle

Diverticulitis does not care who you are, because it can strike anyone. Brock Lesnar had a terribly nasty case of it years ago. Now, Kenny Omega is also out of action with the terrible disease, but there is hope that he will return.

Tony Khan addressed Omega’s status, emphasizing the gravity of the situation and the fortunate timing of medical attention.

Tony Khan Speaks on Omega’s Recovery

Kenny Omega has been absent from the ring since December due to diverticulitis, a condition diagnosed after the December 13th Dynamite show when he exhibited signs of distress backstage. Following the diagnosis, Omega was informed of the gravity of his situation, emphasizing the fortunate timing of his medical attention to prevent potential catastrophic consequences.

The severity of Omega’s condition was underscored by the risk of a blood infection, which posed a significant threat with a roughly 50 percent chance of mortality had it not been promptly addressed. AEW President Tony Khan addressed inquiries about Omega’s condition during an interview with Comic Book.

“I don’t want to put pressure on it, He was really in a bad way. I don’t want to put a timetable or try to rush him back, but I’m optimistic we’ll see Kenny Omega again.”

“Certainly, it’s something for all the fans to look forward to. I think everybody’s just going to go crazy when Kenny does come back, which I think we’re all very optimistic about.”

Kenny Omega’s Eventual AEW Return

We’re sending out our best to Kenny Omega as he continues recovering from diverticulitis. AEW certainly misses him, and there are even new opponents in Will Ospreay and Kazuchika Okada, both people he knows from NJPW, who are going to be there waiting for his return as well.

It seems that, after the Young Bucks “fired” Omega from The Elite, a match with Okada is ready-made for The Cleaner. We will have to wait for his return to see it happen.

SEScoops will have more on this story, and so much more around the pro wrestling word. You never know what will happen next, so please keep checking back throughout the day for more updates and headlines that you need.

John Cena Lets Kenny Omega Know: I Can ‘See’ You

If you don’t think John Cena reads the dirt sheets, think again because the future WWE Hall Of Famer took notice of Kenny Omega’s recent remarks.

Kenny Omega had extremely high praise for Cena on his latest Twitch stream, noting that he has never met John, but realizes how much he’s done for the wrestling business in and outside the ring. Omega noted how Cena has reached heights wrestling stars hadn’t seen in years and the work he does for charity is unparalleled.

Cena has a wide range of personalities on social media as most times on Twitter/X he’ll write out thoughtful words of motivation while his Instagram is always a wordless vessel, simply pictures that either troll or indicate something on his mind. On Wednesday morning, Cena made clear he was thinking of The Cleaner.

Omega is out indefinitely from in-ring action after being diagnosed with diverticulitis. He noted in a previous Twitch stream that he was actually very close to dying but did express a big desire to get back into the ring.

In AEW storylines, Omega has been relieved of his duties as an Executive Vice President of All Elite Wrestling (and replaced in The Elite by his most hated rival). Despite the suspension, Omega did appear in promotional ads for AEW’s upcoming tour of Canada.

Catching Up with Cena

John Cena returned to WWE last year during the Hollywood strike:

After wrapping up that run, the 16-time World Champion has been keeping very busy. His HBO show The Peacemaker will film a second season this year. He also recently made his (unannounced) minor league baseball debut in February 2024:

Most recently, Cena made global headlines with his ‘nude’ appearance at this year’s Academy Awards ceremony. Now, he appears to be aiming for a memorable appearance at WrestleMania 40. During a recent interview, Cena said he’s keeping his “fingers crossed” for a chance to be part of WWE’s biggest event of the year.

How much longer can he keep going, even if he wrestles just once or twice a year?

Flowers Received: Kenny Omega Hails John Cena’s Contributions to Pro Wrestling Industry

John Cena has done a lot in his career as a 16x World Champion. Not only that, but his contributions to the overall industry has not gone unnoticed.

Kenny Omega gave John Cena flowers for his contributions to professional wrestling during a recent Twitch stream. He said that Cena is what the face of a pro wrestling company should be at this point.

Omega Speaks on Cena

During a recent Twitch stream, Kenny Omega shared his admiration for John Cena and the significant impact Cena has had on the professional wrestling industry. They have never shared the ring as part of the same company, but Omega certainly sees Cena.

Kenny Omega expressed his admiration for John Cena, highlighting Cena’s significant contributions to the professional wrestling industry. Despite not having personally met Cena, Omega praised him as a great professional wrestler who has made an immense impact on the business.

“No, I have not [met Cena], but I think he’s great. Great professional wrestler. He’s done an incredible amount for the business, I don’t think anyone will be able to match anytime soon. The reason why is because Cena wasn’t doing anything for the sake of an accomplishment or trophy or recognition.”

“People went out of their way after the fact to say, ‘look at all this stuff John is doing in his off time.’ Maybe he even laughs at it himself, but for the amount of effort he has put in to make people’s lives better, whether it be Make A Wish, fans at the arenas, or autograph signings, it’s a great example for what the face of a company should be or for the face of the industry. I’m a very big proponent of John Cena. I think he’s incredible.”

Cena and Omega

Omega and Cena represent contrasting paths within the wrestling world. While Omega has carved out his niche outside WWE, Cena’s tenure as a WWE mainstay embodied his status as a symbol of sports entertainment. Despite these differences, Omega’s acknowledgment of Cena’s achievements underscores the mutual respect that exists among wrestlers, regardless of company lines.

Only time will tell if Kenny Omega and John Cena ever meet. Odds are, Omega has Cena’s respect as well. So, a possible future meeting between the two might go very well.

John Cena’s career in Hollywood keeps him away from WWE. He is also not planning on wrestling into his 50s. Kenny Omega, on the other hand, is sitting out of action right now as he recovers from a diverticulitis attack.

After all, when John Cena met MJF, things went very well. Cena also asked the Salt of the Earth when he plans on playing for a different team.

SEScoops will have more on this story, and so much more. Please keep checking back for more updates as they are made available.

A Five-Star Idea? Kenny Omega Considering Rating Matches on Twitch Amid AEW Hiatus

Kenny Omega could put his wrestling knowledge to use by ranking matches on Twitch amid his current absence from AEW.

The former AEW World Champion has been missing from AEW programming since late 2023 after being diagnosed with diverticulitis. At first, Omega believed he was dealing with a hernia, before receiving the accurate and alarming diagnosis. Despite recently being advertised for upcoming AEW events in his native Canada, there’s no timeline for when fans should expect Omega back in the ring

Kenny Omega on Twitch?

While Omega hasn’t been competing, the AEW EVP has remained active on Twitch where fans can find him playing video games and sharing updates about his life and condition. Taking to Twitter, Omega said he’s thinking about delivering match ratings. the Cleaner admitted that the idea of rating matches may rub some fans the wrong way.

Omega’s Many Stars

Kenny Omega isn’t rating matches yet but the former AEW World Champion knows all about giving high-star performances. Omega currently has 25 matches rated five or more stars by the Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer. 12 of these matches surpassed the five-star scale. His highest rated match took place at Dominion 6.9 in Osaka-jo Hall and saw Omega and Kazuchika Okada give a seven-star performance.

What’s Next?

It’s ironic that Okada and Omega had the seven-star match as it seems the pair will face off nice more. On last week’ AEW Dynamite, the Young Bucks fired Omega as a member of the Elite. That same show saw Okada debut and align with the Bucks, seemingly replacing Omega in the role.

Kenny Omega Draws A Line Between Himself, Will Ospreay and Kazuchika Okada

Kenny Omega knows his role in AEW and it’s something that he believes separates him from Will Ospreay and Kazuchika Okada, but will The Cleaner make a return to the ring?

While on his Twitch stream, Omega happened to give an update on his recovery after his diverticulitis diagnosis, something that had him very close to death’s door.

“I would love to say, ‘Hey guys, I’m on track to coming back next week, next month, a half of year.’ I don’t have that confidence this time. When they’re explaining to me that I was 24 hours away from a terrible blood infection and possibly dying, this is like news to me. I’ve never heard of anything like that. ‘I wasn’t close to dying, are you kidding me? No way.’ The doctors are there to ensure my safety and educate me as to how important this is. I don’t want to talk out of my ass too much and say I’m going to for sure be back, and I’ll be back at a certain date or time because I don’t know. I will say, after watching Dynamite, and getting a feel of the lay of the land. If I can come back, I feel like I have to.”

https://twitter.com/puroresuflow/status/1765901475715207217

With the official AEW debuts of Kazuchika Okada and Will Ospreay, the athletic bar has been raised in AEW and Kenny hopes that he’ll still be able to show who runs the show in All Elite Wrestling.

“I used to be that guy. I used to have that confidence, and now instead of being the guy that’s got a chip on his shoulder, it’s my job as the old guard to be the gatekeeper. You want to call yourself the best? F***ing prove it, b****. That’s what I’m here for.”

From a storyline perspective, Kenny Omega isn’t quite “running the show” as fellow EVPs Matthew and Nicholas Jackson have “fired” Kenny from his position this past Wednesday on Dynamite. Kenny caught wind of it and simply used a photo of himself to express his surprise.

Omega has been advertised for AEW’s upcoming residence in Canada, but there is no word as to what he may be doing.

H/t to Fightful for the transcription.

No Timetable for Kenny Omega’s Return Despite Being Advertised for Canada Taping

Fans should not expect to see Kenny Omega back any time soon, despite the Cleaner being referenced on this week’s Dynamite.

The former AEW World Champion has been out of action since late 2023 due to a battle with diverticulitis. This situation forced AEW to change plans as Omega and Chris Jericho had been in line for an AEW World Tag Title shot before the Cleaner’s hiatus. Instead, Jericho teamed with his Inner Circle alum Sammy Guevara in a losing effort.

Kenny Omega Advertised

In January, Omega was advertised for upcoming AEW Dynamite tapings that will take place this month in Toronto, Canada. While fans took this as a good sign, Tony Khan made clear that fans shouldn’t expect to see the Cleaner at the tapings when he spoke at the AEW Revolution 2024 media scrum.

“I don’t think it would be fair to create the expectation that Kenny Omega would be cleared by then… I don’t know the exact date.”

Latest on Kenny Omega

With that in mind, there is still no timetable as to when fans should expect Kenny Omega, according to Fightful Select. During this week’s AEW Dynamite, Omega was ‘fired’ as a member of The Elite and has been replaced by Kazuchika Okada. Fightful adds that the plan is for Okada’s inclusion in the Elite to set up Omega’s return and feud with the group.

Kenny Omega Recovering After ‘Roadblock’ Emergency Surgery Amid AEW Hiatus

AEW’s Kenny Omega was recently dealt another ‘roadblock’ in his recovery from diverticulitis which required the Canadian wrestler to go under the knife. The former AEW World Champion has been out of action for months, after disclosing in December 2023 that he had been diagnosed with diverticulitis

This led to AEW changing its plans as Omega and Chris Jericho had been scheduled to challenge for the AEW World Tag Team Championships. Instead, Jericho teamed with Sammy Guevara in a losing effort.

During a recent Twitch stream, Omega gave an update on his condition. The AEW EVP (who was recently fired as a member of The Elite) explained that the pain comes in waves.

“It’s been really touch and go. I was feeling great for a week or two. When you feel terrible, a week or two feels like a long time… For two weeks, I was feeling great.”

Omega then added that after this period of feeling great, he required emergency treatment.

“I ran into a bit of a roadblock and I had to get some emergency treatment again. Well, I wouldn’t say it’s two steps forward, two steps back, but maybe it’s one and a half steps back.”

What’s Next?

While Omega would love to be back in the ring tomorrow, he explained during the stream that he can’t answer as to when he’ll be back in the ring. The former AEW World Champion added that he doesn’t want to get back in the ring until he’s healed and feels he can perform at the high-level fans expect from him.

Kenny Omega Reacts to Being Fired from The Elite

Kenny Omega is not so impressed after The Young Bucks (Matthew & Nicholas Jackson) fired him from The Elite.

‘The Cleaner’ is currently out of action for an indefinite period after he was diagnosed with diverticulitis. However, The Young Bucks don’t care about it. During this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, EVPs The Young Bucks addressed the fans and went on to speak about one of their old friends, Kenny Omega.

While Omega recuperates from diverticulitis, The Young Bucks raised questions about his absence as he has been missing dates which they think have baseless reasons. After that, they announced Omega has been fired from his position in The Elite.

https://twitter.com/LopeDMCA/status/1765559275005296827

Kenny Omega reacts

Taking to his Twitter/X account, Kenny Omega posted his picture from a match in which his facial expression doesn’t look too impressed. He didn’t add any caption as the image was self-explanatory.

Omega was diagnosed with Diverticulitis following his match with Ethan Page last year. The former AEW World Champion was hospitalized immediately after the match. Omega was set to team up with Chris Jericho at AEW Worlds End last December but that match had to be nixed off due to Omega’s absence.

We had previously reported that Omega has a long road ahead for recovery. Well, his condition is bad enough that surgery could be risky at the time and a decision of the surgery hasn’t been made

We will have to wait and see what the future holds for Kenny Omega. We at SEScoops wish him a speedy recovery.

Young Bucks Fire Kenny Omega From The Elite During AEW Dynamite, Hangman Page Suspended

The Young Bucks are living it up as heels, and this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite was no different. Coming off their loss to Sting and Darby Allin at AEW Revolution, they took credit for retiring Sting. Then they took care of some business on live television.

Hangman Page beat up some referees after he failed to win the AEW World Title at Revolution. Kenny Omega has not been on AEW television for a while due to suffering from a bout with diverticulitis. It seems that the Young Bucks don’t care about their excuses, because they still laid down punishments for their former stablemates.

The Young Bucks Speak

During this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, The Young Bucks seized the spotlight in the ring, stepping up to address the audience in their roles as EVPs. Their purpose was clear: to convey their stance on Hangman Page’s recent altercation with AEW officials during Revolution, and this resulted in his suspension. However, their message extended beyond this initial incident to another one of their old friends: Kenny Omega.

The Young Bucks redirected their attention to Kenny Omega. They raised concerns about his absence from scheduled appearances, attributing it to purportedly baseless reasons. It’s worth noting that Omega is currently in the process of recuperating from diverticulitis. Nevertheless, in a bold move, they proceeded to announce Omega’s termination from his position within The Elite.

It should be noted that The Young Bucks said “The Elite” and not “AEW.” So, this wasn’t a termination from the actual company. Only time will tell how this plays out.

This is when Eddie Kingston came down to play the part of a babyface trying to take on the massive heel EVPs. That didn’t turn out too well for him, and he was jumped.

Then Kazuchika Okada made his way to the ring, swiftly turning heel in the process.

Kenny Omega and Hangman Page’s Situation

Kenny Omega won’t be around AEW for a while as he recovers. We are not sure what Hangman Page is going through, but he will get some time off as well.

SEScoops will have additional information on this story as more details are available.

Kenny Omega On How Wrestling Can Draw New Fans, Similarities to Gaming

All Elite Wrestling superstar Kenny Omega wants to bring more non-wrestling fans into the profession. He has been involved in the wrestling business for over 20 years, allowing him to understand how to build a fanbase. The former AEW World Champion believes that giving your program time and care is one of the key factors in bringing in a new audience to your company.

In an interview with Gamespot’s Dave Jewitt, Omega shared his thoughts on the video game Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth and how it can relate to wrestling. He believes wrestling shouldn’t be afraid to be creative and have fun like the video game. Omega’s philosophy is that wrestling fans will appreciate it and can bring a new audience to the profession.

“As a wrestler in 2024, you always think of new ways. How are we going to bring new fans in? How can we get a new fanbase,” said Omega.

The former AEW World Champion explained that he believes wrestling should try to appeal to different people, whether it be age or culture.

“…We want anyone to appreciate what we do as an art form, as a form of entertainment. Much like the Like A Dragon universe, it can be whatever you want it to be as long as you give it a proper introduction, explain it, and have fun with it,” said Omega.

He added, “…That’s sort of my take on wrestling and clearly that sort of like the take on this game where if you put time and care into everything that you do, you’ll get the appreciation back. People will have fun with it.”

Update On Kenny Omega

Omega is currently out of action as he looks to recover from diverticulitis. He had initially thought that it was a hernia until he went to the hospital on December 15, 2023. The AEW superstar revealed on Twitter after his diagnosis that he would be out of action for an indefinite amount of time.

AEW President Tony Khan shared in a recent interview with Sports Grid that Omega is doing better than before. However, he is still far from making a return and hopes he makes a full recovery.

It’s expected Omega will take his time to heal before he steps back into a ring. Although it’s unfortunate that ‘The Best Bout Machine’ could be out for most of the year, it should be encouraging that he looks in good shape and spirits during his interview.

Kenny Omega Is Doing Better But AEW Still ‘Very Worried’ About Him

AEW’s Kenny Omega is doing better, but the former World Champion isn’t out of the woods just yet according to Tony Khan.

In December 2023, Omega revealed that he’d be out of action indefinitely due to a battle with diverticulitis. At first, it was believed Omega’s abdominal pain was a hernia, but that was not the case. His situation has led to an outpouring of support, with even Don Callis dropping his on-screen animosity to Omega to share his best wishes

Kenny Omega has battled a series of career threatening injuries

Tony Khan Speaks On Kenny Omega

In the latest update on his condition, it was said that Omega was doing a lot better and that it’s hopeful he will make a full recovery. In a recent interview with Sports Grid, Tony Khan spoke about Omega and what lies ahead.

“We were all very worried about him. He’s doing better but you know, he was seriously sick and his life could have been threatened had he not gotten to the Doctors when he had.

“He was really sick and he’s thankfully doing much better and you know, we’re always wishing Kenny the best, and hoping and looking forward to seeing Kenny Omega back in AEW as soon as he’s healthy.”

Diverticulitis: The Facts

Diverticulitis affects the large intestine and causes abdominal pain, which is why Omega mistook his situation for a hernia at first. It can be caused by diverticula, which are small, bulging pouches that can form in the lining of your digestive system.

Brock Lesnar and Shane McMahon have both suffered from diverticulitis in the past. Lesnar’s situation would result in surgery and UFC fights being postponed. He would go under the knife in November 2009 and would return to action in July 2010.

We here at SE Scoops are continuing to wish Omega a full and speedy recovery.

Things Are Looking Up for Kenny Omega In Latest Diverticulitis Health Update

Kenny Omega’s current situation is looking more positive according to the latest update on the former AEW World Champion.

Last month, Omega revealed that he would be out of action indefinitely and it was later reported that he was battling diverticulitis. Omega’s condition is so serious that Don Callis dropped his heel persona to wish his former client the very best in a message on social media.

Good News for Kenny Omega

Earlier this week, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer said that Omega is in a painful situation and that people are taking a wait-and-see approach at this time. While speaking on Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez reported that Kenny Omega’s recent treatment included antibiotic treatments, which seem to be effective.

“I was told that one of the things with Kenny’s deal was that they had to pump him full of antibiotics. Apparently, the antibiotics are working. So he may still need surgery but the last report that I got, which was 20 minutes ago, was that things were looking up and that he was doing a lot better and hopefully going to make a full recovery.”

Kenny Omega Receives Concerning News As His Pro Wrestling Future Remains Up In The Air

AEW star Kenny Omega is yet to have surgery and a concerning report has emerged regarding his health.

‘The Cleaner’ is currently out of action for an indefinite period after he was diagnosed with diverticulitis following his match with Ethan Page. The former AEW World Champion was hospitalized immediately after the match. Omega was set to team up with Chris Jericho at AEW Worlds End but that match had to be scrapped off due to Omega’s absence.

We had reported that Omega has a long road ahead for recovery. Now, it has come to light that his condition is bad enough that surgery could be risky at the time and a decision of the surgery is yet to be made.

Update on Kenny Omega

Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio reported that the current plan is to monitor Omega’s condition for seven weeks before deciding on surgery. Meltzer has highlighted that during this period, Omega will receive no treatment, and after seven weeks, a decision will be made depending on his progress on recovery.

Meltzer stated:

It’s going to be nothing for seven weeks and then in seven weeks, they are going to see how everything goes and, at that point, he’ll either need surgery or he… I don’t know how he won’t need surgery, but if he can heal.

Normally, you would have already done the surgery right away but his condition and everything was so bad that they could not risk the surgery at the time and now they are kind of just… it’s going to be in seven weeks he’ll either have the surgery or he won’t and then at that point we’ll see. He’s in a tough situation, I feel very bad for him. Until that happens, it’s a painful situation.”

It is certainly a tough time for Omega, given his future is up in the air. Fans are hopeful that he’ll recover and get back inside the ring soon.

We at SEScoops wish him a speedy recovery.

Chris Jericho Will Find New Partner For AEW Worlds End In Kenny Omega’s Absence

Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega were all set to challenge Big Bill and Ricky Starks for the AEW World Tag Team Titles at Worlds End on December 30th, then Kenny Omega’s health took a turn for the worse. Despite losing his Golden Jets partner, Chris Jericho will continue without The Cleaner.

AEW Tag Team Title Match At Worlds End

Chris Jericho is determined to win the AEW Tag Team Titles at AEW Worlds End, even in the absence of Kenny Omega due to diverticulitis. He made that very clear on AEW Collision this week.

During the December 23rd episode of AEW Collision, Ricky Starks and Big Bill announced their intention to take the night off and celebrate. They suggested that the scheduled tag team match at Worlds End was canceled since Kenny Omega is not able to compete.

However, Chris Jericho stepped in, and he revealed something very important. He still possesses a contract entitling him to an AEW Tag Team Title match. Le Champion is not fazed by Kenny Omega’s absence, because the show must go on.

Chris Jericho then declared his intention to find a partner and challenge Ricky Starks and Big Bill for the titles at AEW Worlds End. He didn’t reveal who his partner will be at the pay-per-view.

Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega secured their opportunity for the AEW Tag Team Titles by defeating The Young Bucks at AEW Full Gear. The Young Bucks used that loss to turn heel as well.

AEW Worlds End 2023 Card:

MJF vs Samoa Joe – AEW World Title

Big Bill & Ricky Starks vs TBD & Chris Jericho – AEW World Tag Team Titles

Christian Cage vs. Adam Copeland – AEW TNT Title

Continental Classic Final

Julia Hart vs Abadon – TBS Title

Hook vs Wheeler Yuta – FTW Title

CM Punk & The Elite Have Lifetime NDAs Prohibiting Them From Speaking About Brawl Out

CM Punk and The Elite had it out backstage at AEW All Out last year, but nobody’s allowed to talk about it. The lengths of that non-disclosure agreement stretch pretty far, ensuring that nobody involved in that altercation can divulge anything.

What Happened During Brawl Out

CM Punk went off during the press conference after All Out 2022. He was bloody, hungry, cursing, injured, AEW World Champion and irritated. All of those things culminated in a rant against Colt Cabana and the Young Bucks. When Punk was finished at the media scrum, Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks went to visit Punk’s locker room with AEW’s legal rep to discuss this situation.

CM Punk allegedly threw the first punch, but details are sketchy from that point on. We know that Matt Jackson had a chair thrown at him, and CM Punk’s dog, Larry, may have lost a tooth. In the end, it was incredibly violent, messy, and blew up in no time.

Ace Steel was also involved in the Brawl Out ordeal, and he was fired from AEW due to his involvement. He was accused of biting Kenny Omega during the brawl. Despite being rehired and working remotely after CM Punk’s return, he was let go again shortly after Punk’s firing from AEW.

CM Punk & Ace Steel Lawyer Up

The legal representation for both CM Punk and Ace Steel during that situation was provided by Stephen P. New, who has notable pro wrestling connections via Jim Cornette. It appears that they had a good working relationship, despite the tricky situation.

During an appearance on Wrestling With Rip Rogers, Stephen P. New discussed Brawl Out and the associated NDAs. In response to a question about the lifetime nature of NDAs, the attorney straightforwardly affirmed that they indeed last for life.

Stephen P New simply stated, “yes” when asked if there are lifetime NDAs in place, meaning that nobody can ever speak about that night.

CM Punk did make a crack about how it’s 2023, so you can’t just go around hitting people backstage. That was likely a reference to how he punched Jungle Boy, and not The Elite. That was Brawl In, not Brawl Out.

Legally, The Second City Savior must stay away from any talk about his brawl with The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega in Chicago. Hopefully, they can keep it that way to avoid another legal situation.

Don Callis Drops Heel Persona To Post Heartwarming Kenny Omega Tribute

Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho were all set to challenge Ricky Starks and Big Bill for the AEW World Tag Team Titles at Worlds End on December 30th, but then the unexpected happened. Omega went down with a case of diverticulitis, and that changed everything.

Kenny Omega’s Current Condition

The most recent word we’ve heard is that Kenny Omega is doing better, but he is far from making a return to the ring. At this point, his comeback date is undetermined, because he must get healthy first.

Don Callis and Kenny Omega have a lot of history with each other, some good and some bad. Their most recent run-in on AEW television did not end in a pretty way, so there is storyline friction between the two.

Callis dropped all the kayfabe as he broke character for a sentimental post. He dropped a heartwarming video dedicated to his experiences with Kenny Omega, a reminder of everything the two have been through.

Although Don Callis did not provide any caption for his post, except to tag Kenny Omega, it is evident that he is wishing his old friend a speedy recovery. Kenny Omega’s illness was a shock for many, because it was kept very close to the vest, even up to his match against Ethan Page.

Don Callis probably wouldn’t break character like this on television to wish Kenny Omega well, but it’s good to see that he did on social media. This is another reminder of the real people behind those pro wrestling personas; no matter how good they are at making us hate them, like Don Callis.

Kenny Omega ‘Doing Better’ But A Long Road Ahead For Recovery

We have a positive health update on AEW star Kenny Omega.

‘The Cleaner’ is currently out of action for an indefinite period after he was diagnosed with diverticulitis following his recent match with Ethan Page. The former AEW World Champion was hospitalized immediately after the match.

It’s worth noting that Omega and Chris Jericho, together known as Golden Jets were scheduled to compete in a tag team match at the AEW’s final pay-per-view of the year, AEW Worlds End. However, that match has been nixed due to Omega’s absence.

Update on Kenny Omega

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer shared an update on Omega’s health condition and revealed that he’s doing a lot better. However, he has long road ahead of him.

“It’s been six days since Omega was hospitalized. And by the way, he is doing better, but he’s got a long road ahead of him.”

In addition to his, Meltzer said that he’s working on the idea that Omega will be out for a long time.

“I’m going to go with the idea that Omega is out for a long, long time, so I’m not going to figure him into this [building up challengers for AEW World Heavyweight Champion MJF] right now until later.”

Chris Jericho spoke about Kenny Omega on AEW Dynamite

This week on AEW Dynamite, Omega’s tag team partner Chris Jericho spoke about him. Jericho stated that ‘The Cleaner’ would be out of action indefinitely and he also has no timetable to return as of now.

Moreover, he also mentioned that Omega’s absence has impacted The Golden Jets’ shot at the AEW World Tag Team Championship at World’s End. However, ‘The Demo God’ believes Omega’s health was of utmost importance and wished him a speedy recovery. He concluded his promo by assuring that their tag team run would resume once Omega returns.

Kenny Omega Thought He Had Hernia Before Diverticulitis Diagnosis

AEW is missing several stars already, and they did not plan to have Kenny Omega out of action at all. The Cleaner’s sudden medical emergency will cost AEW another top star, during a time when they need that star power more than ever.

Kenny Omega received a diverticulitis diagnosis, affecting AEW’s plan for the World End 2023 pay-per-view scheduled on Saturday, December 30th, 2023, at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Long Island, New York. At this time, we do not know how Tony Khan will book around Omega’s medical situation.

The Truth Behind Kenny Omega’s Recent Health Scare

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer spoke about Kenny Omega’s situation. Apparently, Omega thought that his diverticulitis was a hernia acting up again on him. Thankfully, he sought out medical assistance, because they discovered the root of his issues.

“I did not hear if he had surgery yet on it. But he was rushed to the hospital on Friday. He had been in a lot of pain, and he thought what happened was, as you probably all remember, that he had the hernia [in 2022] that was really, really bad, which caused him that long period off. And he had been hurting really, really bad. And he had presumed it was a hernia. He had had bloating, which he presumed was [another hernia], and he thought he may have messed up his diet somehow and was eating something wrong. He kept training on it, working on it. Did the match with Ethan Page [on last week’s Collision]. He was hurting really bad on Wednesday when he did the promo with Jericho [on Dynamite].”

“By that point, it was really bad. So he went to the hospital and found out he had diverticulitis. It was in a really bad situation. I mean, in the sense of, if he had not gone in another day or so, it could have been horrendous. He’s I guess he’s fine. I heard from him, and just kind of said that, like, he was in pain, had had trouble sleeping, but he just thought it was the hernia acting up again.”

“And once he found out it was and he said, [it] could have been really, really bad complications. I don’t know how long he’s going to be out, and I don’t think anyone does. It was a very, very serious situation by the time he got to the hospital,” Meltzer stated.

What’s Next For Kenny Omega in AEW?

The AEW World Tag Team Champions, Ricky Starks & Big Bill, were initially set to defend their titles against The Golden Jets at Worlds End. Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega’s team was just heating up, but now they are forced to take a break.

There is no return timetable for Kenny Omega right now. We’re sending out our best, so hopefully he can heal up fast and get back to the ring without any more complications.

SE Scoops will have continued coverage of Kenny Omega’s medical situation as more information is made available.

Kenny Omega Reveals He Is Out Of Action

Kenny Omega and the rest of The Elite inked new deals with AEW just a few months ago. It appeared that Omega would be someone that Tony Khan could rely on, and he was getting consistent spotlights. Now, The Cleaner has pulled the plug on his own AEW run.

Kenny Omega’s Injury Announcement

Former AEW World Champion Kenny Omega revealed on X that he is now out of action indefinitely. He revealed a photo of himself in a hospital bed as well, so it appears that he is being tended to.

Although Kenny Omega did not reveal the nature of his injury, it seems serious enough to pull him from action now. In his message, which he didn’t sugar coat in the slightest, Omega encouraged fans to watch wrestling until he returns.

I can’t really sugar coat this. I’m out indefinitely. I tried to keep pushing past the pain for as long as I could until it became too much. Luckily doctors caught me when they did. I’ll be here so in the mean time, please enjoy wrestling!

Kenny Omega’s absence from AEW will be a huge blow for them to take. At this point, The Cleaner was involved in a tag team program with Chris Jericho. Now, the Golden Jets will have to wait.

What’s Next For AEW Without Kenny Omega

This announcement comes days after AEW added Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho vs Ricky Starks and Big Bill to the Worlds End card, where the AEW World Tag Team Titles will be on the line. This match will need to be changed now.

AEW has suffered many injuries, and big blows, to their roster over the last year. It appears that Tony Khan will have to figure out an alternate booking situation for one of the two matches he’s booked for Worlds End on December 30th so far.

UPDATE: Reason For Kenny Omega’s AEW Absence

Sean Ross Sapp reported on X to say that Kenny Omega was suffering from an illness last week. It was not disclosed what he was dealing with, but he still pressed on and wrestled against Ethan Page. He was later diagnosed with diverticulitis.

We’re told Kenny had been ill throughout the last week, even ahead of his match with Ethan Page. He still did the match and the promos, and sought medical attention after, where he was hospitalized and diagnosed with diverticulitis.

Keep checking back with SE Scoops for more updates on Kenny Omega’s situation.

AEW Dynamite Review 12/13/23: Droste’s Hits & Misses

This week’s AEW Dynamite from Arlington, Texas is in the can. What was good? What was bad? What worked? What didn’t?

Let’s dive into Wednesday night’s show.

They started the show off hot with a Samoa Joe coming out for a promo right off the bat, even skipping the Dynamite show intro. The segment quickly evolved into including Hangman Adam Page and Roderick Strong as well. Joe accused Page of being the Devil, while Strong said it was obvious that MJF is.

This flowed right into the first match, featuring Page vs. Strong. They had an excellent match, maybe a little too competitive for my taste considering they teased Page getting into a world title feud with MJF recently and…Strong isn’t exactly on that level. However, the story was that Page was outnumbered by Strong’s crew outside the ring. In the end, Page got the victory. Hot way to start the show.

The Continental Classic Doesn’t Let Up. Good.

The Continental Classic continued with Brody King and Andrade absolutely tearing it up with an outstanding match. I am a bit surprised that Andrade continues to go over in some of these contests given his recently teasing he could be interested in a return to WWE. He went over King here, using an exposed turnbuckle to his advantage.

The Von Erichs (Kevin, Marshall, and Ross) were backstage with an interview with Renee Paquette. Orange Cassidy came in with the Best Friends and said he needs two partners for a match on Rampage and asked the Von Erichs (Marshall and Ross) to team with him. They obliged. Felt like a bit of false advertising to not put the Von Erichs out in front of the crowd on Dynamite since they advertised it in advance, though the live crowd will see them when they tape Rampage later on after Dynamite.

Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho Have An Off Night

The Golden Jets, Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega, came out for a promo in the ring. They explained their lengthy absence was due to getting attacked backstage by Big Bill and Ricky Starks at Full Gear. They were eventually interrupted by Starks and Bill and the segment turned into a back and forth of insults between the teams. Jericho and Omega were a bit off, with Omega even calling the team the Winnipeg Jets at one time (but quickly corrected himself). Omega’s big line was talking about how nobody remembered the storyline with Bill and The Firm, but said that he was more flacid and “sawft.” There was even a mention of Enzo Amore.

They officially announced that Jericho and Omega will challenge for the tag titles against Bill and Starks at Worlds End. Starks came off very well by the end, showing a lot of fire on the microphone. I still have zero interest in seeing Omega and Jericho continue to team as it feels like a waste of Omega.

Riho and Ruby Soho wrestled while Toni Storm did guest commentary with Mariah May at her side. I’ve said it before here in this column, but man, this character with Storm is really flatlining. They need to kick this storyline with May into high gear as it still hasn’t even really begun. Way too slow of a burn here, in my opinion.

Jay Lethal and Rush wrestled in a Continental Classic bout. They mentioned that Lethal would be mathematically eliminated with a loss as he has zero points so far (Rush has 3, though he’s really shined in each match). Maybe surprisingly, Lethal was mathematically eliminated as Rush won with a sleeper hold tap out very quickly. Match only went a few minutes (the fastest of the whole tournament). Lethal was consoled by Jeff and Karen Jarrett, and Sonjay Dutt after the match as he looked frustrated. Rush celebrated with a dude’s beer at ringside and high fived another crowd member so hard I was worried they might have fractured their hand.

Mark Briscoe and Jay White Have A Good One

Mark Briscoe and Jay White wrestled in a Continental Classic tournament match. The announcers did a good job going over the different scenarios for each man to make it to the finals. Crowd was really into this one, with several “Dem Boys” chants.

Very back and forth, with Briscoe charging in right away and hitting the Froggie Bow early. Briscoe took a crazy toss to the outside and also hit an elbow to the outside late. In the end, Briscoe dodged a second Froggie Bow and hit the Blade Runner to get the victory. Excellent match.

The previous result eliminated Rush mathematically from the tournament since White holds a tiebreaking victory over him.

Jon Moxley and Swerve Strickland Delivered

In the main event, Jon Moxley and Swerve Strickland wrestled a Continental Classic match that was my most anticipated television match in quite some time. Strickland is one of the hottest names in all of wrestling right, so I was intrigued with how they’d book this one against one of Moxley’s core main eventers.

Crowd was super hot early until they worked a slow style at the start. If they brawled and started out quick, the place would have been unglued. Each guy tried to get into each other’s head as they struggled for position, with Mox giving Swerve a brief peck of a kiss in the corner, and Swerve returning the favor moments later.

Mox took an early advantage brawling but Swerve then hit a brutal looking DDT to Mox off the second rope. Swerve worked him over on the outside of the ring, but Mox came back with a clothesline out of the corner back in the ring and hit a piledriver for two. Moments later, he trapped Swerve in the ring apron on the outside, then tossed him into the ring steps as they went to commercial.

Mox was still in control throughout the commercial and after until Swerve came roaring back with a backbreaker and some back elbows. Mox reversed a rolling offensive maneuver into a cutter for two, then hit a Gotch-style piledriver for two. They exchanged headbutts and Swerve then hit the Flatliner, a suplex and big boot for two. Strickland then used Moxley’s move, with the continued stomps and back elbows. He then hit his running kick and went up top for the Swerve Stomp but Mox knocked him to the outside.

Mox hit a Stomp and locked in an armbar when Swerve made it back into the ring. Swerve made the ropes for the break. Moxley then went to get a chair, which would have been a DQ loss, but Swerve hit a crossbody over the top to the outside. Back in the ring, Strickland hit the Swerve Stomp off the top for two. Strickland then went for the JML Driver, but Moxley rolled through for the pinfall while holding the tights. Taz sold that Strickland may have had a shoulder up, too. Stricland looked stunned in the ring. Feels like we’re destined for a rematch in the Gold League finals in two weeks.

The show ended with Hangman Adam Page being attacked in the parking lot by the four masked men. The Devil was sitting a car and nodded at his men, who then slammed Page on the windshield of the car.

Bryan Danielson Wishes Kenny Omega Was Part of the AEW Continental Classic

The ongoing AEW Continental Classic will allow Bryan Danielson the chance to face some of the promotion’s top stars, but not Kenny Omega.

Danielson is part of the Blue League in the round-robin tournament, meaning everyone from each league faces everyone in their league. Danielson has already faced Eddie Kingston, Andrade El Idolo, and Daniel Garcia and has accumulated six points so far. He has yet to face Brody King and his Blackpool Combat Club ally Claudio Castagnoli.

Danielson Wanted Omega in the Continental Classic

A dozen of AEW’s most exciting Superstars are part of the AEW Continental Classic, but Kenny Omega isn’t among them. Speaking with Mail Sport’s Alex McCarthy, Danielson spoke about wanting to face the Cleaner.

‘I really wanted Kenya Omega in it and I don’t know. People think I do a lot more than I do. I don’t know what happened or why he’s not in the tournament.”

Danielson added that the idea of being in the tournament was presented to Omega, and gave a reason for why the former AEW World Champion isn’t competing.

“I know it was at least brought up to him and I don’t know if he didn’t want to do it or I know that he and Chris Jericho are the number one contenders for the Tag team championship. So maybe that’s why, you know.”

Danielson is one of three wrestlers in the Blue League to be on six points, with Brody King and Andrade El Idolo sharing the same score. Claudio Castagnoli and Eddie Kingston have three points, while Daniel Garcia has been eliminated without scoring a single point.

Bryan Danielson had an injury scare during his match with Andrade which will air tonight. Click here to find out the latest update.
