September 18 Show
The show opened with Titus O’Neil cutting a heel promo on the crowd and proclaiming NXT to be NXTitus. Sami Zayn interrupted Titus and wanted to wrestle him. Adrian Neville came out and said he wanted to face Titus because he’s the champion. Tyson Kidd came out and it was settled that the main event of the show would be a tag match with Neville and Zayn facing Kidd and O’Neil.

2. Hideo Itami pinned Justin Gabriel. Itami used a diving double stomp as his finisher. After the match, The Ascension ran down and laid out Itami.
3. Baron Corbin squashed CJ Parker.
4. Tyson Kidd and Titus O’Neil beat Adrian Neville and Sami Zayn. There was a lot of one upmanship between Zayn and Neville throughout the match. Kidd scored the pin on Neville after Titus knocked him off the top turnbuckle while the ref was distracted trying to keep Zayn out of the ring.
It was announced that the next set of tapings will take place on September 25.
September 25 Show
1. Bull Dempsey beat Mojo Rawley. After Bull left Mojo lying in the ring, Tyler Breeze came out and beat up Mojo some more before the next match.
2. Tyler Breeze over Justin Gabriel.
3. Bayley defeated Alexa Bliss. After the match, Bayley asked Charlotte to come out to the ring and asked for a rematch from Takeover. Charlotte said that Bayley had earned her respect and she’d get another shot, but warned that the second verse would be the same as the first. The match is set for the following episode.
4. Enzo Amore pinned Marcus Louis. Louis was wearing the Kurt Angle headgear and wig until Enzo pulled it off and rolled up Louis while he scrambled to put it back on.
5. Lucha Dragons retained the NXT Tag Team Championships over The Ascension. Hideo Itami distracted The Ascension which allowed Kalisto to hit Salida del Sol for the win. Afterwards, Itami laid out Konnor on the stage with kicks.
NXT spoilers for Oct. 2nd and Oct. 9th continued on page two …
The following are results of the NXT Takeover 2 special, which aired on the WWE Network on Thursday, September 11, 2014.
– The Lucha Dragons (Sin Cara & Kalisto) def. The Ascension to become the new NXT Tag-Team Champions in the opening match of the show. The finish came when Kalisto pinned Viktor.
– Baron Corbin def. C.J. Parker in a quick squash match that lasted all of 29 seconds.
– Enzo Amore def. Sylvester Lefort with a rolling reverse cradle, holding his trunks during the pin. Lefort tried to run away after the match, but Big Cass clotheslined him. Louis attacked Cass and Lefort ran off, leaving Louis alone. Cass hit a big kick on Louis. Cass said to Amore, “Enzo, get the bucket!” in Dudley Boyz fashion. He poured the bucket on Louis and Louis ran off.
– KENTA came out to the ring after being introduced by William Regal. KENTA announced that his new name is Hideo Itami. The Acension came out and threw him out of the ring and demanded a tag-title rematch. He came back in and cleaned house of both guys.
– Bull Dempsey def. Mojo Rawley in about a minute with a diving head-butt. After the match, he gave Rowley another diving head-butt for good measure.
– Backstage, Enzo Amore and Big Cass wanted to see somebody bald. They found Louis and Lefort ran away, leaving him alone yet again. Cass attacked him and carried him to the ring. Cass hit him with a reverse atomic drop and Amore took the towel off that was covering his head, revealing that he only had a little bit of hair left and no eyebrows.
– Charlotte def. Bayley to retain the NXT Women’s Championship. The finish saw Charlotte hit a moonsault, followed by a neck-snapper for the pin. After the match, Sasha Banks came out and taunted Bayley and then attacked her. Charlotte ended up making the save.
– It was announced that Hideo Itami (formerly known as KENTA) will be making his in-ring debut on NXT TV next week, which is actually being taped on Saturday night, September 12th.
– Adrian Neville def. Tyler Breeze, Sami Zayn & Tyson Kidd to retain the NXT Championship. The finish saw Neville hit his spectacular Red Arrow on Kidd for the pin after Zayn had hit the running kick into the corner and had the match won, but Neville pulled the referee out of the ring so he couldn’t make the three count. This was definitely a “match of the year” candidate.
During the NXT Takeover 2 live special on the WWE Network on Thursday night, KENTA made his official debut for WWE.
KENTA spoke about his goals and revealed during his promo segment that as a sign of tribute to his hero, who he didn’t name, he is changing his name to Hideo Itami.
After his name-change announcement, NXT Tag-Team Champions The Ascension came out and interupted him, likely starting some kind of program that will continue on NXT television.
Hideo Itami makes his NXT in-ring debut next week.
Ahead of tonight’s NXT Takeover 2 show, WWE COO Triple H tweeted this “selfie” photo of himself, Kenta, Kevin Steen and Fergal Devitt.
Kenta is already confirmed to be making an appearance on the show. Could we also see the NXT debuts of Steen and Devitt tonight as well? One can dream.
When asked by a fan on Twitter if we’ll see other debuts tonight aside from Kenta, he responded:
Yes. Have to watch to see. “@JedsWorld: @TripleH Aside from Kenta, will we see the debut of any other new superstars tonight? #NXTTakeover”
Expectations are that WWE will be featuring KENTA in a prominent role upon his debut. As noted earlier today, KENTA will not be wrestling at the NXT Takeover 2 special on Thursday, although he will be appearing. The belief is that he will make his official in-ring debut for WWE at the NXT tapings on Friday.
There is talk that Ric Flair, who is also scheduled to appear at the Takeover 2 special, will be linked with KENTA in some form or fashion during the show.
WWE is reportedly hoping that KENTA will help with merchandise sales and WWE Network subscriptions in the Japanese market.
The latest edition of the Michael Cole weekly sit-down interview series has been added to the official WWE YouTube channel.
In this week’s video, which you can view above, Cole talks to Triple H about this week’s NXT Takeover: Fatal 4-Way special on the WWE Network and the arrival of international sensation KENTA.
– Diamond Dallas Page noted during a recent interview that Chris Jericho texted him after last night’s RAW, telling him that while he was fine after doing the dive off of the top of the steel cage during his match with Bray Wyatt, he thinks he suffered a broken toe while doing the Lionsault spot during the bout.
– As noted earlier today, while KENTA will be appearing at the NXT Takeover 2 special on the WWE Network this Thursday, he will not be wrestling an actual match. The belief right now is that they will shoot an angle during the special to set up his first official match, which is expected to take place at the NXT television taping the following night.
WWE officials have clarified KENTA’s status for this Thursday’s NXT Takeover 2 special. The company has made a point to note that while the live WWE Network special will be the official introduction of KENTA, he will not be wrestling an actual match on the show.
Speaking of Thursday’s NXT Takeover 2 special, the official WWE YouTube channel has added the following video preview for the show.
– WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair will appear at next week’s NXT Takeover 2 live special on the Network. Flair will be there to welcome Japanese star KENTA as he makes his official NXT TV debut.
– Polygon.com is doing a 3-part video series looking at the new WWE 2K15 video game. In the first installment, game developers talk about the motion capture process, which included traveling with WWE to live shows in order to scan various Superstars for the game.
– KENTA’s endorsement company, PARCO stores, signed a deal with WWE to produce and sell historical t-shirts and merchandise, including the nWo, Andre The Giant, Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior and Randy Savage starting on September 1st.
– The following is a new AfterBuzz TV interview with WWE Diva Cameron, who discusses the upcoming new season of WWE Total Divas and more.
Thousands of fans stood bewildered following last night’s main event, as the WWE’s resident hero John Cena laid battered and beaten after his match with Brock Lesnar. Cena didn’t grab a microphone to offer up an excuse, nor did he attempt any sort of retaliation while both Lesnar and Heyman laughed in his face after seizing the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
Instead, he simply walked away with the help of officials, with the crowd booing the face of the company while serenading him on his way out the door. Last night’s event felt like a transitional pay-per-view, and not simply because every title that was contested changed hands.
Lesnar was congratulated by Triple H after simply destroying John Cena last night.
The massacre fans witnessed last night for only $9.99 was perhaps the end of the PG era. The evil villain prevailed, the kids’ hero took the beating of a lifetime, and the company seems to finally be looking toward the future instead of the past. Fans have likely noticed in recent weeks that the product has become a bit edgier. Curse words are more frequent, men have assaulted women, and the next generation of superstars has dominated the old guard.
Last night’s event reminded me a bit of the 1993 King of the Ring, during which fans witnessed the death of Hulkamania. After years as the top superstar in the company, Hogan finally met his match in the form of Yokozuna. Hogan lost the title that night (with a little help from a camera man) and didn’t make any excuses. He simply faded away and left the company a few weeks later, not returning to a WWE ring for roughly a decade. This event was followed by a transition period that saw the company stray away from guys like Hogan, Savage, and Warrior in favor of the next generation in the form of Hart, Michaels, and Diesel.
That’s not to say that John Cena is bolting from the company any time soon, because that certainly isn’t the case, but his time as the top guy in the company is likely over. Otherwise, he probably wouldn’t have put Lesnar over in such convincing fashion, as Cena barely landed any offensive maneuvers throughout the over 15-minute main event.
The following are highlights of a new Comic Book Resources interview with Daniel Bryan:
How much of your time does rehab take up?
I literally wake up, take the dog out, go to physical therapy number one, drive about half an hour to physical therapy number two, from there I go to my acupuncture and from there to my ART [Active Release Technique]. And that’s every day. It’s physically and mentally exhausting, but I’m doing my best to get better so I can come back as soon as possible.
When do you think that return might happen?
I mean, I’m hoping soon, but I don’t think the doctors are thinking it’s going to be that soon. The problem is nobody really knows. I’m doing my best to recover as fast as possible.
Would you want to come back in a non-wrestling capacity?
I don’t know. I feel like if I can come back to wrestle, then it’s best to just wait until I can come back to wrestle. Not being around is good for when you come back — if you’re constantly being seen and that sort of thing. I’d rather just be off getting better.
There’s been two high-profile WWE signings from NJPW recently. How excited are you about KENTA and Prince Devitt becoming Superstars?
I’m really excited, really excited. People’s eyes are going to be opened with KENTA. He just brings a different style that we’ve never seen in the WWE before. Tajiri threw a lot of kicks, but they weren’t as intense as KENTA’s. Being on the receiving end of KENTA’s kicks is one of those things that translates very well to the audience because you can see it, but somehow the audience is almost able to feel it. The noise, the impact. Everything. It’s gonna be exciting, and it’s gonna make everybody step up their game.
Do you have certain guys you do like to hang out with backstage?
Yeah. I like pretty much everybody. Some guys I like because I’ve known them for years, and some guys I like just because they’re funny, and some guys I like just because I like giving them crap. And so: Big E. If anybody is [reading] this or on Twitter, go ask Big E what he thinks about 9/11! [Laughs] Those kind of things. I really like Ryback, Cesaro and Seth Rollins, too. Heath Slater entertains me to no end as far as him as a human being. William Regal has been a mentor of mine for years. Whenever I get to see him, it’s great. Kane. Very interesting character. We’ve got a lot of fun, cool people backstage.
Do you ever follow any of the chatter about yourself online? Do you read things like message boards, Twitter and Reddit?
I guess I don’t know how, per se. I’m barely on Twitter. There’s just so much stuff on the Internet. I try to use the Internet only when I need to find out information, because anything else you just get lost in a pool of whatever. The only time I look at message boards is when I’m looking for books to read. And I have a specific site I use. I don’t even know what it is because it’s saved on my computer. It’s good books to read and people are constantly suggesting what they just read. Right now I’m reading a book called Thinking Fast and Slow. It’s really interesting, and I found that from this message board. So that’s the one thing that I do! [Laughs]
– Both Prince Devitt and KENTA were backstage at the NXT show on Friday night, although neither appeared in front of the live crowd. There was, however, some talk of putting KENTA on camera last night, but for whatever reason they decided against it.

– As previously reported, WWE will not be hosting a SummerSlam Axxess fan fest this year. Instead, the company will be hosting a series of Superstar panels in Los Angeles, including one that will feature the WWE 2K15 roster reveal. in Los Angeles due to the ongoing budget cuts. While it was originally speculated that Axxess was cancelled as a cost-cutting measure, PWInsider.com reports that it was actually an issue related to finding a location to host the event.
– Several NXT stars were backstage at Tuesday night’s SmackDown tapings from Orlando, including newly-signed Japanese star Kenta. WWE posted the following photo of Kenta meeting with Vince McMahon and Triple H:
“Backstage at #WWE: Vince McMahon, @tripleh, and Kenta talk backstage. #WWE”
– Recently signed WWE developmental star Kenta is now on Twitter using the handle @Kenta312.

– Randy Orton was pulled over this morning by the Florida Highway State Patrol for his windows being tinted being too dark. Orton posted this photo on Instagram:
Really? Again? You’d think the State Hwy Patrol would have bigger fish to fry then me and my overly tinted windows.
– The Rock will be on The Tonight Show tomorrow night to promote his new movie Hercules, which opens this Friday.
– Chris Jericho’s father Ted Irvine was sitting ringside at last night’s Battleground pay-per-view along with Jericho’s son.

With the help of his translator, former WWE Superstar Funaki, Kenta tells Renee Young what it feels like to leave Japan behind and what the WWE Universe can expect from him in the ring.
The following are highlights of a new interview with NXT star Sami Zayn:
On feedback from Triple H after his match with Cesaro at “Arrival”: “It was awesome. If I’m being honest again, actually the first time that I got that kind of feedback from HHH was actually the two out of three falls match (with Cesaro), which had been about a year, nine months prior to the Arrival match. So we had this match, now has gotten a lot of talk, buzz or whatever it is. As I was in the ring and the crowd was like just going nuts, giving us this standing ovation, which was so cool. And as I was on my back, out of the corner of my eye, I kinda saw the replaying some of the highlights of the match and the crowd with each replay started getting louder and louder to the point by the time they were replaying the finish, it was another standing ovation. So it was actually one of the most incredible moments of my career. Just to lay flat on my back and just hear them continually getting louder way after the match. And they (crowd) start chanting match of the year, match of the year and I haven’t told anybody this on camera or anything like this. I really didn’t know how that reaction was going to go over. At this point, I was fairly new to the WWE system. I didn’t know if I overextended myself, if we had done more than they wanted, I don’t know. I really didn’t know. And then we came back and I had no idea what to expect, I really didn’t. I thought I’d get chewed out over like what the hell are you doing out there? I really didn’t know. And I got back there and HHH was the first one to pull us aside. He said that was awesome. He gave us a very candid speech. That was the first time I got insight into his mind and the way his mind works. I was so happy because yes, its not gunna be this like, I have my vision. the office has their vision. It was this guy who likes good stuff and he appreciates good stuff. And it was an amazing experience and amazing thing validated by a guy who is not only your boss, but as one of the most accomplished and greatest professional wrestlers/WWE superstars of all time. It was really cool to have him on your good side for sure.”
On KENTA signing with the company and training soon at the Performance Center: “I’m very excited. There’s a lot of good talent coming in, a lot of my kind of guys, world traveled, workrate, nose to the grindstone, gritty sort of passionate guys, which is what I personally believe in. Its great to see these guys get an opportunity. KENTA’s just been busting his butt for so long and killing it for so long. Its great to see him get an opportunity like this. I am really looking forward to hopefully wrestling him because I actually never have. I was supposed to wrestle him once, but he went down with a knee injury. I teamed with him a couple of times, but I’ve never actually had a one on one match with him. I look forward to that opportunity.”
Triple H, Daniel Bryan and Seth Rollins all recently took part in a new WWE.com article that looks at the company’s signing of Japanese star KENTA.
Triple H offered the following comments: “He just signed with us. I was there when he had his tryout at the Performance Center and I met with him there. We’ve been working on this for a while. His training will start when he gets here. The thing is, you can be a big star anyplace else in the world. That gets you in the door. What you do once you get here is a whole different ballgame. He’s no different than anybody else once he walks through the door of the Performance Center.”
Daniel Bryan said: “Kenta has wrestled in the United States, Europe and Mexico. He knows how to switch his styles up with what WWE is doing, so the sky is the limit for him. He has worked hard at speaking English. I don’t necessarily think he should be doing long interviews, but if you told him to, he would be able to do it within a year or two because he’s so smart. And the big thing is, he’s cool. It’s like when you meet The Rock, he’s cool. Kenta’s just cool, and somehow it translates in the United States. When people see him and meet him, they’re just like, ‘Man, this guy’s cool.'”
Seth Rollins said: “The sky’s the limit for him. He’s got unlimited potential based on his skill set. He’s not the prototypical WWE Superstar. He’s not Hulk Hogan and he’s not John Cena, but he has a certain charisma about him that’s completely different than what anybody else has in the company right now. He’s got an opportunity to bring a different style to the game in an era when MMA is very prominent. Guys his size who hit as hard as he does are very popular and can connect with an audience.”
WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has updated his blog, which you can read in its entirety at JRsBarBQ.com. Here are some highlights of what JR said about:
Sting’s 7.14.14 Tweet: “The questions that I get regarding the @Sting Tweet of 7-14-14 are often times comical. Some fans feel compelled that they MUST know what is going to occur tonight on RAW. Yes, I know but I’m not in the Don Jardine business so my suggestion is to simply watch RAW and find out for yourself. No matter what occurs, many will bitch tomorrow that it wasn’t what they wanted.
The first step of whatever Sting may or may not do with WWE begins tonight on RAW and where it ends is anyone’s guess. For me, it’s a no brainer but I’m arguably biased. Sting will be on the Ross Report podcast on Tuesday July 29.”
WWE Signing KENTA: “Don’t see the logic that some utilize comparing KENTA with the Great Muta other than they are both Japanese wrestlers. Muta got over because he was young, a high flier, had trendy face paint and, most importantly, he had Gary Hart speaking for him. KENTA can get over if he speaks English or gets someone to be his mouthpiece specifically if KENTA is going to be a villain. I expect him to be in NXT for a good while and could even do some teaching while he’s there which I think would benefit all involved. Plus, Muta had some of the top stars in the business to work with while he was in WCW.”
Jim Ross also revealed that he’s interviewing Tony Schiavone for his podcast (airing August 19th) and he’s doing serious work on his autobiography this week.
– Japanese wrestling legend Kenta Kobashi, not to be confused with KENTA, who just signed with WWE, was backstage at the WWE live event in Tokyo, Japan on Friday.
– WWE Hall Of Famer Bret Hart is featured on the latest edition of The JBL & Cole Show. You can check that out below.
Japanese wrestling star Kenta has officially signed with WWE and will begin wrestling for NXT this summer.
The announcement took place at a signing ceremony at Saturday’s WWE Live Event from Osaka, Japan, with WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan presiding.
Triple H told WWE.com, “Kenta is an incredible performer who brings the crowd to its feet when he steps into the ring. WWE’s signing of Kenta reflects our continued dedication to creating a diverse roster that appeals to our global fan base.”
Kenta said, “I am humbled to join WWE’s NXT division and look forward to honing my craft with the global leader in sports-entertainment.”
Kenta will relocate to Orlando, Florida, where he will train at WWE’s state-of-the-art Performance Center “to enhance his talents both athletically and creatively.”

WWE may have spoiled the planned signing of Japanese Superstar KENTA for fans who have any real computer or internet skills.
As noted, WWE has confirmed that a Japanese Superstar will be signing his new WWE contract in the ring at the upcoming WWE live event on July 12th in Osaka, Japan.
The official WWE Japan website has somewhat spoiled the signing, as the file name of their announcement graphic reads “kenta-teaser-image.jpg.”
WWE is advertising that a “major Japanese superstar” will be signing with the company at the July 12th live event from Osaka, Japan.
As reported last week, Japan’s Tokyo Sports has already confirmed that the superstar in question is none other than former Pro Wrestling NOAH star KENTA.
