Rollins Gets Standing Ovation, Stephanie Leaves With Triple H After Clash Of Champions

After Clash of Champions went off air, Seth Rollins received a standing ovation from the crowd in attendance. Rollins acknowledged the crowd before he left the arena. Seth Rollins lost his match against Kevin Owens for the Universal Championship at Clash of Champions. He had Owens beat several times with the Pedigree but the referee was either knocked out or Jericho placed Owens’ foot on the bottom rope to break up the pinfall. When Rollins made his return from injury, the first thing he did was insult the crowd. However, it now appears that the WWE Universe is in his corner due to the odds constantly being stacked against him.

Triple H did not show up during the main-event at Clash of Champions. He essentially handed Kevin Owens the Universal Championship, so it was easy to assume that he would play a pivotal role at Clash of Champions. That was not the case. Instead, Chris Jericho was the reason that Kevin Owens remained Universal Champion. Stephanie McMahon also took her time bringing out another referee after the original referee was knocked out accidentally by Seth Rollins. It remains to be seen if Stephanie McMahon and Triple H are working together in making sure that Kevin Owens remains Universal Champion. After Clash of Champions went off the air, WWE uploaded a video that showed Stephanie leaving the arena with Triple H. Surely that will increase the speculation that The Authority is back and Seth Rollins has been replaced by Kevin Owens.

Cedric Alexander Roster Update, Kevin Owens vs. Seth Rollins Promo, WWE 2K17 Video

– WWE RAW Superstar and Cruiserweight Contender Cedric Alexander appeared for NXT over the weekend in his NXT house show debut, defeating Andrade “Cien” Almas in the main event with a Lumbar Check. Andrade played the heel, and refused to shake Cedric’s hand after the match, instead opting for a middle finger. Alexander also worked this past Thursday’s NXT TV tapings, so it looks like we’ll be seeing Cedric on both RAW and NXT.

Kevin Owens Reveals What Happened Backstage After Championship Win, Who He Thought Of

WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens recently spoke with SLAM Wrestling and revealed who he thought about in the ring after winning the championship on RAW a few weeks back – family. Owens said:

“My parents could have told me when I was 12 years old and telling them I wanted to be a wrestler that it was silly and to be serious and find something more secure and safe, but they didn’t. They pushed me as hard as they could. My wife, she’s been with me for 10 years,” Owens said.

“She saw the ups and the downs and she saw so many people tell me I would never make it to WWE, but she never doubted it. My kids put up with their dad being gone a lot. My daughter’s two so she’s not super aware of it, she’s just happy when I come back, but my son’s eight, he’s seen me do this his whole life. He knows how much it means to me, he knows how much I enjoy it. I don’t know if it’s going to stick, but for now, he looks like that’s what he wants to do, too. He’s very tolerant of the sacrifices we have to make in order for me to do this, and he really enjoys WWE itself, so that certainly helps. Without them, I just wouldn’t be here.”

“I also had a thought for my grandfathers. I have their initials tattooed on my knuckles. They were both really big wrestling fans. My dad’s father would take me to WWE shows when I was younger and my other grandfather, my mom’s dad, would watch wrestling with me at the house. They just really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, they both passed away before I signed with WWE. The tattoos on my knuckles are just kind of a way to keep them with me at all times. I really wish they were there to see this moment, but I definitely thought of them.”

Owens also revealed that several people, including Sami Zayn, greeted him backstage after the win. He said:

“There were a couple of people. The first one, I don’t want to just say who it is, but I think people can figure it out. It was very emotional because in a lot of ways, we both achieved this. I don’t know how to describe that. It’s our title, in a way, if that makes any sense.”

“It’s a special moment to get to tell Vince McMahon that you’re not going to regret this and have him say, ‘I’m sure I won’t.’ It was just really something. Jimmy Jacobs, who I’m not sure would be very happy that I mentioned him in this, he works for WWE now and he was there and that was another pretty special moment because he’s seen it from the start, from the moment I got hired until now, he’s there with me every week. We were really close before we got to WWE. For us to share a moment like that, it was pretty cool. Triple H is the reason I’m here. He’s the one who took a chance on me because a lot has been said about how I look and how I don’t have the typical WWE superstar look, even though I feel like over the past three or four years that whole stereotype has been destroyed.

Still, it was something that people would always point to as to why they thought I wouldn’t make it in the WWE even if I got hired. Well, not only did I get hired, but last Monday, I won the Universal title and Triple H literally handed it to me. People can say what they want about that, but to me, it was a pretty special moment.”

Things got worse when Elhassan was informed Owens’ son is autistic and then doubled down on his position.

Several pro wrestling personalities spoke out about the situation, including Cody Rhodes (telling WWE to cut ties with ESPN), Mick Foley and Jonathan Coachman. However you feel about his initial tweets, Elhassan admitted they were in poor taste and apologized to Owens and his family.

Kevin Owens Is The New WWE Universal Champion (Video)

Kevin Owens is your new WWE Universal Champion.

Owens defeated Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns and Big Cass in the Fatal 4 Way main event of Monday’s RAW to capture the gold. He didn’t do it alone, however. After Big Cass had been eliminated, Triple H appeared out of nowhere delivered a pedigree to Roman Reigns, to the delight of the crowd. He threw Roman Reigns back in the ring and Seth Rollins got the pin, narrowing it down to only two competitors.

Triple H got Owens from outside and and threw him back in the ring. Just as it looked like The Game was setting Seth Rollins up for the win, he shocked the world and delivered a pedigree to Rollins. The crowd went absolutely nuts. A stunned Kevin Owens seized the moment, covered Rollins and scored the pinfall victory.

Owens and Triple H embraced in the ring while Stephanie McMahon and Mick Foley looked on in complete disbelief. The crowd chanted “You Deserve It” as Kevin Owens celebrated his win.

Finn Balor, the man who won the Universal Championship just a week ago but had to forfeit the title after 24 just hours due to injury, was quick to congratulate Kevin Owens on his big moment.

– Kevin Owens shut down his Instagram account due to hacking attempts. During SummerSlam weekend, I attended Sam Roberts’ live podcast at Caroline’s in New York City and Owens was one of the guests. Owens said he barely uses Twitter anymore because he was amazed at how bad the trolling was. He understands people are entitled to their opinions but several of them were saying very personal things about him and his family. Apparently he is still the target of a lot of negativity on social media.

Big Feud For Finn Balor Nixed, Plans For Universal Title Through October

Finn Balor undergoing shoulder surgery didn’t just knock him out of action for the remainder of the year. It also derailed a Universal title feud that would have been the focal point of RAW over the next several months.

Prior to Finn Balor’s injury, the plan was for him to defend the Universal Championship at Clash of Champions on September 25th. That match would have ended in a DQ/no-contest and set up Balor vs. Owens vs. Chris Jericho in a Triple Threat at Hell in a Cell on 10/30.

There’s been no word yet on who WWE has penciled in to win the Fatal 4 Way for the Universal Championship next week but it’s worth noting that Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins were originally scheduled to be away from the title picture for a few months. However, Finn Balor’s injury has forced WWE to change things up and they used this opportunity to elevate KevinOwens and Big Cass.

A Fatal 4 Way match will be held on next week’s WWE RAW from Houston, TX to determine the next WWE Universal Champion.

After a series of qualifying matches were held, it was determined that next week’s Fatal 4 Way will feature Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins vs. Kevin Owens vs. Big Cass. Tune in next week to see which of these 4 men is crowned the new WWE Universal Champion.

Kevin Owens On Being Excited For WWE SummerSlam, His New WWE 2K17 Look

Kevin Owens spoke with IGN at Friday’s WWE 2K17 media event in New York City and said he doesn’t have much time to play video games. He said, “I really don’t have much time to play video games, and I really haven’t gotten to play 2K17 yet. But just seeing it was really cool. What I noticed was that by the time 2K16 came out, I’d been called up and was on the main roster, but the Kevin Owens they had in 2K16 was kind of like the NXT Kevin Owens. But I just saw what they had going for 2K17 and it’s got my main roster gear and main roster look. So it’s awesome to see. I mean, I’m in a video game and my son gets to play it. That’s the coolest part for me. I might not have the time to play it but he gets to play it. He loves it. He plays as me for the first few weeks and then he moves on to cooler guys. [laughs]”

Owens also talked about how excited he is for the SummerSlam tag match with Chris Jericho against Enzo Amore and Big Cass on Sunday. “I really don’t know how it’s gonna go. I’d be shocked if, at some point, there’s not a microphone in the ring,” Owens said. “It’s very exciting though. You know, Chris Jericho is someone I’ve looked up to for years. Enzo and Cass are guys who when they were in NXT I sort of gravitated towards because they were my kind of guys. Now, at SummerSlam, it’s going to be a very interesting mix in there and I’m excited for how it’s going to turn out.”

Owens also talked about staying on the RAW brand, Sami Zayn and more in the interview. Check it out at this link.

Kevin Owens Talks About His & Sami Zayn’s Potential, Finn Balor Joining RAW

Kevin Owens recently spoke with Sky Sports to promote next weekend’sWWE SummerSlam pay-per-view, where he’ll team with Chris Jericho against Enzo and Big Cass. Topics discussed include NXT being a stepping stone to the main roster, Tye Dillinger’s upside and more. Here are some highlights of what he said about:

High Hopes For The Impact He & Sami Zayn Will Have In WWE:

“I am not saying we will be remembered as incredibly as Shawn Michaels, who is the best wrestler of all time, but when we walk away from WWE I think people will remember us as pillars for what we have done.”

He continued, “I am not sure what the future holds but I’m sure we’ll find our way back to each other at some point – Battleground may have been our last match for a little while but it won’t be our last match.”

Finn Balor Finally Getting Called Up:

“When Finn, myself and Hideo Itami started there the brand was definitely on the rise – not just because of us, let me make that clear, but because every performer and coach, plus the management team, were working so hard to make it something pretty special. Then Hideo and Zayn got hurt, and myself and Neville got called to the main roster, so without Finn I don’t know whether NXT would have reached the level it has today – you always need one guy to hitch your wagon to [and he was that guy].”

Kevin Owens Challenges Mick Foley, Talks About WWE Draft Fallout

Kevin Owens recently took part in a media conference call to promote WWE SummerSlam. Here are some highlights of what he said about:

Not getting picked earlier in the WWE Draft:

“I was picked way later than I should have been. I mean, I understand not being picked before Roman Reigns or John Cena or Ambrose or Seth Rollins, those guys have been the figureheads of WWE for several years now. I even understand being picked above Charlotte, who was the Women’s Champion at the time, and who was the face of the Women’s division. Even Finn Balor, who was coming up from NXT – he’s a big deal. But being picked as late as I was was kind of a slap in the face, to be honest. But I’ll use it as motivation as to why I should be the face of RAW.”

Who will benefit the most from the split rosters

“The only thing that matters to me is what I do and how I do it. You’re asking me who will emerge from the New Era. As humbly as I can put it, within a few months or a few years, people will see that I am the best thing on RAW, the best thing in WWE.”

RAW General Manager Mick Foley:

“I get to share RAW with him and I guess that will make for interesting television. I’m looking forward to our verbal jousts… unfortunately we’ll never be able to get in the ring together… cause I don’t think he’ll be able to walk out. Unless… we’ll here’s the challenge: Mick if you hear this then I’m all for it. Prove me wrong.”

Videos: Roman Reigns Returns To The Ring, Cuts Backstage Promo On Battleground

Roman Reigns wrestled his first match since being suspended for a WWE Wellness violation on Saturday night in Wildwood, NJ. As seen in the videos below, Reigns defeated Kevin Owens with a Superman punch and a spear.

Kevin Owens Says He’s Become A Huge Cena Fan: “If Not The Wrestler, Then Certainly The Man”

In a recent interview, Kevin Owens seemed to indicate that while he may not always be a fan of John Cena’s matches, he’s come to admire the man behind the character we see on WWE TV every week. Owens, a ring veteran of 16 years, recently told The Asbury Park Press about facing off against the former World Heavyweight Champion.

“Wrestling John Cena was a pretty incredible experience,” Owens said. “I’ve grown to become a huge John Cena fan, if not the wrestler, then certainly the man.”

Owens is doing a meet-and-greet in Freehold, NJ on Satuday, July 16th, and doesn’t hold back when it comes to the topic of his fans on Twitter. Owens also clarified that no one writes his Tweets for him.

“For every intelligent comment, there’s five mind-numbing, head-shaking tweets,” he said. “I’m just honest. If I write something on Twitter, it’s not because somebody told me to tweet that. It’s how I feel.”
