  • Sunny Doesn’t Know AJ, Cena Wins 100th Match, Kurt Angle Upset

    – John Cena’s won his 100th match on Saturday against The Big Show at a WWE SuperShow in Tucson, Arizona. The 10 year WWE Superstar competed in 108 matches already this year, losing only four matches with the other four ending in a no contest.

    – After fans on the internet left criticizing remarks regarding WWE Hall of Famer Sunny’s recent “Thong Incident”  Tammy “Sunny” Sytch mentioned AJ in a Facebook post: “AJ (whoever that is) sucked face with 2 men a few days ago on worldwide TV. totally trumpted what I did.. and I STILL GET CRITICIZED.”

“I didnt take a shot at AJ…I dont watch wrestling…any wrestling…so I honestly didnt know who she was. Once in a blue moon I’ll flip passed it on TV and I happened to see that angle…and didnt know who she was. thats all. period. no harm in not knowing. I dont know who half the guys on that roster are.”

She then went on to complement AJ: “If they are willing to finally give a chick a spot like that, with all the air time (like they did with me) more power to her. From what I saw, which was very little, she has her character down pat… and I love her facials. dont know where she came from, but she was either taught right, or just has it. I was never taught anything, it would just come naturally. If that is her case, fantabulous!”

    – Kurt Angle blasted Gerald Brisco this morning on twitter for auctioning off his 2012 Hall of Fame inductee award he was set to receive at the George Tragos/Lou Thesz Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame museum in Waterloo, Iowa this past weekend.

Jim Ross announced the auction in a tweet:

  • Kurt Angle Compares Samoa Joe’s Ring Style To Chris Benoit

    – TNA star Crimson was Memphis, Tennesse’s WREG-TV this morning to promote Saturday night’s BaseBrawl event at AutoZone Park.

    – Kurt Angle compared Samoa Joe’s in-ring style to Chris Benoit during this week’s Impact Wrestling post-show:

“[Samoa] Joe and I know how to trade off submissions really well,” Angle said. “I compare Joe… he’s a much bigger type of Chris Benoit, he had that ability. He knows how to trade off submissions, he knows a lot of submissions. I enjoy wrestling Joe because it’s such a challenge.”

Angle’s comments comparing Joe to Benoit can be seen below around the 9:50 mark:

  • Angle Working On Comedy Movie, Masters-TNA, Wes Brisco

    – Kurt Angle is working on a fictional comedy movie called “Singlet: The Dana Kelly Story” about a former Olympic boxer who is trying to make a return to the Olympics as a weightlifter. Angle is reaching out to TNA fans to help fund the project.

    – There is some confusion surrounding WWE letting Wes Brisco leave and work for TNA. Brisco, 29, is the son of WWE Hall of Famer Gerald Brisco and had been getting rave reviews at WWE developmental before getting let go. He’s on the smaller side and a great athlete, which would have made him a good fit for WWE’s planned cruiserweights show. For whatever reason, WWE let him go and now he’s being considered for a regular spot on TNA’s roster.

    – There has been talk of TNA bringing in Chris Masters as one of the masked men who attacked Sting, but he’s booked to wrestle in Russia the night before Bound for Glory. This would make wrestling in Phoenix the following night difficult, but not impossible.

    – Chris Masters was asked via Twitter whether he is joining TNA Wrestling after participating in a dark match prior to the June 14 Impact Wrestling broadcast. He responded, “Ask [Dixie Carter]. She said she would be in contact.”

The former WWE Superstar posted several more messages urging his followers to campaign for his employment to the TNA Wrestling President.

    – Promoting his Bound For Glory Series Match against Samoa Joe tonight at TNA Destination X, Kurt Angle tweeted, “Angle vs. Samoa Joe on Ppv Destination X. Ther Old Rivalry Starts Again. BFG Series Match. Also to Claim ” the Baddest Wrestler On Planet!”

  • Daniel Puder Talks About Almost Breaking Kurt Angle’s Arm

WrestleShark.com recently caught up with former WWE $1,000,000 Tough Enough winner Daniel Puder to discuss his time in the company and plans for the future. Here are some of the highlights below.

The full interview, including his thoughts about the other Tough Enough contestants, training with Hardcore Holly, the infamous Kurt Angle shoot on Smackdown, his opinion of Al Snow as a trainer, his time in ROH and launching the MyLifeMyPower anti-bullying charity can be found here or by searching WrestleShark in the iTunes store.

Daniel Puder tries to make Kurt Angle tap out in an unscripted manner during a 2004 episode of SmackDown: “It’s funny, before that entire thing they made us run sprints to start the day, then they brought us in for a pasta eating contest. Two guys puked from it. I’m sitting there, and I knew they were gonna run us again…they had us in the ring doing an up down competition…they told the ref to get the blond guy out of the ring. Chris and I were both blond. So Kurt Angle wrestled him, broke three of his ribs, he rolled out and Kurt came over and said who wants a chance, I raised my hand as fast as I could. Just because, I knew that I wrestled, my old coach was Danny Shay…Danny only lost to him in the Olympic trials by a couple of points, so I knew I had trained with guys that are as good as him. I wasn’t really scared of him, plus I had the MMA stuff and I knew he wasn’t really into that as much. So I got in there, they said the rules were no striking…and I caught him in a key lock…he’s a strong guy. He’s freakin’ strong. So I caught him in a key lock, pulled him into a Kamura and tried to snap his arm off. It nearly worked, you guys can see how close it was…I’m guessing it was five seconds away from snapping.”

How Angle responded to the incident: “Oh Kurt was very very upset, [laughs] yeah he doesn’t like me too much for some reason. But he’s a wimp you know. If the guy was really tough he’d say like ‘OK lets have a fight’, you know. Even Dana White offered him $2-3 million dollars to fight me and he turned it down. I’m pretty sure you guys would fight me for $2-3 million dollars [laughs] that’s a lot of money.

“He yelled at me, he got pretty upset. I said ‘hey, I’m playing by the rules, they told me no striking’. I was being respectful, you know, because I was in his world. But you know, if he came to my gym and did something dumb, outside the rules, I probably would have broken him right there. I would have knocked him out, made him cry like a girl.”

On walking away from professional wrestling and starting MyLifeMyPower: “Well, I dunno if you guys have heard, but I launched MyLifeMyPower and created this whole program for kids and teens. I been travelling around the country speaking to you know, the National PTA, next week I’m in Miami with 250 chiefs of police, week after I’m in Reno with 1000 resource and police officers who work in schools nationwide. I looked at…I could be on TV wrestling in front of a couple million people everyweek, or I could be fighting on NBC or Showtime…but at the end of the day, what do I get done? What can I do that will leave my mark on society and our culture. I’d love to still wrestle…but I want to be able to change the culture of our youth.

MyLifeMyPower.org is the charity, the main thing we’re going for is, we don’t tell kids no…we try to ask the right questions…our idea is not to tell kids “don’t do this, don’t do that”, I wanna encourage kids. A lot of kids are trained the wrong way or just not trained at all, and they just succumb to their environment…our program is goal setting, mentoring, leadership, character development, personal branding. We’ve had over 300 celebrities and pro-athletes film videos and PSA’s. We’re gonna start launching some on Youtube. We give schools different videos every week…It’s stuff kids don’t learn in School…A lot of kids you ask ‘hey what do you wanna do?’ and they go ‘oh I wanna be a vetenarian’ and I said ‘OK how are you going to get there?’. So we ask them the right questions, get the right answers and it drives them to become more successful.”

  • Kurt Angle Talks 2012 Olympics, Working Babyface & Retirement

TNA star Kurt Angle recently spoke to Mississippi’s Clarion Ledger to promote this weekend’s TNA’s live events tour. Kurt’s interviews are good for a few laugh out loud quotes – and this one’s no exception. Here are some highlights of what our Olympic Gold Medalist said about:

Pulling Out Of The 2012 Summer Olympic Trials:

“I was actually 12 days out from the trials. I tore my MCL ligament in my knee. I can still pro wrestle but it does limit me.In 1996, I broke my neck before the Olympics. I still competed, but I had nothing to lose. I didn’t have a family. I didn’t have a lot of money. And it might be my only opportunity to make the team. And thank God I did it. I was getting Novocaine shots in my neck. I couldn’t have Cortisone because it was illegal. So I went through the Olympic trials and the Olympics with my neck broken, so a lot of people said, “Why don’t you try out this year with your knee injury?”

And I said, “Because I don’t want to make it worse, because I do have a family. I have a job. And if I’m not working, I don’t get paid.” So I have a lot to lose now and I had to back out for personal reasons.”

Why He Can No Longer Play A Heel:

“I’ve done everything, from comedy to being the badass. … I think my character now is more true to life than I’ve ever been. It’s just the real Kurt Angle. I think it’s because, thank God, I got to the point where fans now look at me as one of the best of all time. So it’s kind of hard to be the bad guy now, when the fans have the respect for you.

The Reason He Hasn’t Retired Yet:

I probably would have retired a a couple of years ago if I wasn’t so good,” Angle laughed. “It sounds very arrogant. I know it sounds very pompous, but yeah, when I started, I didn’t realize I was going to pick it up so quickly.”
