Lacey Evans Reflects On WWE Telling Her About Feud With Becky Lynch

Lacey Evans has her biggest match thus far in her pro wrestling career lined up as she’ll challenge WWE RAW and SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch at the Money In The Bank pay-per-view event.

Since being called up to the main roster from NXT, the company has gotten behind Evans. The WWE prospect recently spoke with Yahoo Sports where she opened up on when she found out about the feud.

“Initially it started with the walkouts, but at no point did I have any idea what it would lead to,” Evans said. “I didn’t find out until the day that I laid hands on Becky that there would be an angle.

I didn’t expect anything, I just went to the shows ready to do anything that they needed from me. That’s what they needed and I took it and ran with it.”

Lynch will be pulling double duty when WWE presents the Money In The Bank pay-per-view event on Sunday, May 19, 2019 in Hartford, CT at the XL Center that will air on the WWE Network as she will defend her titles against Evans and Charlotte Flair.

Becky Lynch Will Reportedly Work Double Duty At WWE MITB

Becky Lynch might take the ring twice at next month’s (Sunday, May 19, 2019) Money In The Bank (MITB) pay-per-view (PPV). The show goes down from the XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut. Currently, Lynch is to defend her RAW Women’s Championship against Lacey Evans on the card.

However, she also has obligations as SmackDown Live Women’s Champion. Last week on RAW, Evans said she’s looking forward to winning the RAW Women’s strap. But on last night’s episode, Evans said she’s coming after both of “The Man’s” titles. Dave Meltzer addressed this on yesterday’s Wrestling Observer Radio.

Meltzer revealed that Lynch and Evans’ match won’t be for both the RAW and SmackDown Live Women’s Titles. Instead, Lynch will be defending both titles on the MITB card, but in two separate matches. It remains to be seen who will be Lynch’s challenger for the SmackDown Live Women’s Title, but that could very well be addressed on tonight’s episode.

  • Becky Lynch Wants To Make The Women’s Titles The Most Prestigious Titles In WWE

It was speculated that Charlotte Flair might be the woman to challenge Lynch at MITB. As for Evans’ comments about both belts, Meltzer hypothesized that “The Lady Of WWE” could earn a title opportunity in both matches. Regardless of how things work out, it looks like Lynch will be having two matches on the card.

Who do you think will be Lynch’s challenger for the SDL Women’s Title at MITB?

Becky Lynch Takes Shot At Lacey Evans On Twitter

Becky Lynch will have to defend the RAW women’s championship against Lacey Evans. On RAW this week, Evans defeated Natalya in a #1 contenders match. Lynch took to Twitter recently to compare Evans to another of her rivals, Charlotte Flair.

Becky Lynch vs Lacey Evans

Evans has wrestled in 3 matches on WWE programming since being called up to the main roster. She participated in the women’s Royal Rumble in January, lost to Natalya on Main Event in February, and then defeated Natalya on RAW this past Monday.

Lynch and Evans have not wrestled against each other previously aside from both being in the Royal Rumble this year.

Lacey Evans As Trash Cans

A fan account for Toni Storm posted a series of Lacey Evans wearing outfits which bare a resemblance to different trash cans. The post can be viewed below:

Becky Lynch Championship Statistics

With her double-championship win at WrestleMania, Lynch is now a 3x Smackdown Women’s Champion (and inaugural title-holder) and a 1x RAW Women’s Champion. She’s defended the Smackdown Women’s Championship on WWE programming 4x during her previous 2 reigns as champion, once in her first reign and 3 in her second.

Lacey Evans On How Her Time With The Marines Prepared Her For WWE

Lacey Evans says that her time working with the Marine Corps prepared her to work in an environment full of stress like the WWE.

Speaking with The Peoria Journal, Evans talked about the guts it takes to perform in front of large crowds and how nerve-wracking it was for her to perform in the Royal Rumble.

“It takes a lot of nerves to be a sports entertainer and to be in front of those big crowds. The military and the Marine Corps prepared me to be numb to the stress.”

“It nerve-wracking. I was the first one out, and even had a promo,” Evans said about the Royal Rumble match. “It was so much fun. It had a huge crowd, and what an experience.”

Lacey also revealed that she travels to almost every show with her six-year-old daughter Summer and her husband.

“She travels to almost every show with me and my husband,” Evans said. “She tells everyone who will listen that her mother is in the WWE. They are my biggest supporters.”

Evans will be facing Nikki Cross at the Peoria Civic Center on this Sunday in a live event. Evans said that while Cross can do anything unexpected, she herself is the classiest star in the WWE.

“She’s (Cross) is full of chaos and has no discipline. She’s insane,” Evans said. “There’s no telling what she will do. We are such polar opposites. I’m the classiest superstar ever in the WWE.”

WWE Reportedly Planning Main Event Push For Lacey Evans

WWE is gearing up to position main roster newcomer Lacey Evans as one of the top female performers in the company.

Evans appeared in a ‘blink-and-you’ll-miss-it’ segment during this past Sunday’s Elimination Chamber event. Her music would hit, Evans would strut out, turn around and leave.

She replicated the spot on both Monday Night RAW and Tuesday on SmackDown Live. Tuesday’s appearance, however, would distract Asuka, giving Mandy Rose the chance to steal a victory. This could be hinting towards a potential Asuka vs Lacey Evans encounter.

Turns out that the reason this lies in the company’s belief in her as a Superstar.

According to Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com, WWE sees major things for Lacey Evans in the future, wanting to eventually position her as one of the top female Superstars in the company alongside Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch.

“Lacey Evans — you have no idea how big they want Lacey Evans to be,” he explained. “You know we talked about Asuka and Lacey Evans, which I don’t think is going to happen, but that was the idea…right now the idea is that when Ronda leaves, whenever that will be, the big three will be Charlotte, Becky Lynch, and Lacey Evans. Which is, you know, kind of a shock — and she may not make it, but that’s where they see things.”

Rousey is expected to take extended time off from WWE following WrestleMania 35.

Details On WWE’s WrestleMania 35 Plans For Asuka

RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey’s WrestleMania 35 match is set. With only one more PPV on the way to ‘Mania, the same can’t be said for SmackDown Women’s Champion, Asuka.

Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com recently discussed this situation. He spoke on the status of a match and an opponent for “The Empress Of Tomorrow.” Meltzer highlighted Lacey Evans as an opponent before adding that this plan was, apparently, being “reconsidered.”

“As far as Asuka goes, I mentioned the thing with Lacey Evans last night. There actually was talk of Asuka and Lacey Evans being the WrestleMania match, and it was definitely on the books at one point,” he explained. “But I was led to believe that it was being reconsidered and that it was not a 100 per cent ‘no’ and it could happen, but it was actually on the books and the point is that it’s not a 100 per cent ‘yes,’ and it may be more than likely ‘no.’ I wasn’t given an opponent for Asuka yet. I don’t think they have one.”

With Lacey Evans an unconfirmed then, Asuka still finds herself without a match.

It’s worth noting that Asuka did lose a match to Mandy Rose last night on SmackDown Live. This was due to a distraction from Lacey that Rose capitalized on. This could, in theory, set up Asuka vs Mandy Rose at Fastlane, and then Asuka against Evans at WrestleMania.

Update On NXT Superstars Wrestling During WWE Main Event

Recently, both EC3 and Lacey Evans were officially announced via a WWE hype video that they would soon be moving up to WWE’s main roster. They join a number of other NXT superstars in this move.

Prior to last night’s Monday Night Raw, both EC3 and Evans wrestled during the taping for Main Event. This led many to speculate that these matches were not only their main roster television debuts but also an indications that they would end up on the red brand.

According to Dave Meltzer of f4wonline.com, both matches were dark matches and will supposedly not air on television this week.

During the Main Event show, Lacey Evans would face off against Natalya in a losing effort to start the night. EC3 would then compete with Curt Hawkins, picking up a victory in the process.

With members of this incoming group of NXT superstars saying their good-byes and wrestling their final NXT matches, it’s only a matter of time until we see them on either Raw or SmackDown Live.

The full group of NXT talent coming to the main roster include Lars Sullivan, Lacey Evans, EC3, Sanity’s Nikki Cross, and Heavy Machinery.

What do you make of this? Was WWE wanting to see what EC3/Evans were capable of before deciding which brand to assign them to?

Two WWE NXT Stars Work Main Event TV Taping (Photos)

Two WWE NXT stars made their main roster debuts when WWE taped this week’s edition of Main Event in Orlando, FL at the Amway Center before RAW went live on Monday night.

Those stars are EC3 and Lacey Evans. These are just two stars that WWE has been hyping the arrival from NXT to the main roster whether that be on RAW or Smackdown Live.

During the taping, Evans lost to Natalya while EC3 beat Curt Hawkins. Jacob Cohen, who was in attendance, noted that there were dueling “Let’s Go Hawkins” and “EC3” chants during the singles match.

Lars Sullivan, Heavy Machinery’s Tucker Knight & Otis Dozovic, and Nikki Cross, are expected to be called up to the main roster in the near future.

Evans worked her final match in NXT on Sunday night at a live event where she teamed with Aliyah in a losing effort to Kairi Sane & Xia Li in a tag team match in Durham, North Carolina.

Also, EC3 worked his last NXT match at this show when he teamed up with War Raiders (Hanson & Rowe) to defeat The Undisputed ERA (Bobby Fish, Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong) in a six-man tag team match.

With Evans and EC3 working Main Event, it’s likely that they will be featured on the red brand.

Lacey Evans Wrestles Her Final NXT Match

The Lady of NXT is about to become the Lady of the WWE main roster. Lacey Evans was recently announced as one of several call-ups expected on the main roster shortly. She wrestled her last match in NXT this weekend at a house show in Durham.

Lacey Evans Headed To The Main Roster

The 5ft 8 former member of the US Marine Corps began training in 2014 and was offered a WWE contract in 2016. In 2017, ESPN did a piece on the up and coming prospect. Evans told ESPN she is motivated to succeed because she came from a home which had little.

“I had nothing, I come from nothing, but I am something and I will continue to be something,” Evans said in reference to coming from a home torn by drug and alcohol abuse.

“The way that I’ve been raised and the things I’ve had to do has given me grit that is unmatchable unless you were beside me. I don’t give up, I go down fighting in everything I do — being a mother, being a wife, being a wrestler, being a Marine, being a sister. I wouldn’t want to get in the ring with me, I can promise you that.”

Evans also recently commented on the Priscilla Kelly viral tampon spot which has been making the rounds on social media recently.

She also commented recently on what it’s like traveling with UK Women’s champion, Rhea Ripley.

WWE Confirms Several NXT Stars Coming To Main Roster

As part of the McMahon Family’s effort to “shake things up” on Monday’s edition of WWE Raw, it was announced that several NXT stars will be getting called up to the main roster soon. Those stars include EC3, Lacey Evans, Nikki Cross, Lars Sullivan, and Heavy Machinery.

It turns out that Cross has actually worked on the main roster before. Last month during a SmackDown TV taping in Manchester, England at the Manchester Arena, Cross took on then-SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch alongside the other SAnity stablemates (Eric Young, Alexander Wolfe and Killian Dain). The match was short as it only went five minutes with Lynch winning by submission.

There have been rumors for months that the company could be moving up some NXT stars to the main roster and now those rumors have come true. It should be noted that WWE has yet to announce when these talents will make their main roster debuts or which brand that they’ll be featured on.

It’ll be interesting to see if WWE makes another announcement with more NXT stars being called up on Tuesday’s SmackDown Live. If so, this could be an indication as to who will be featured on which brands.

Which of these Superstars do you think has the best chance of making an impact on the main roster?

Scott Hall: “I Predict Lacey Evans Will Be A Huge WWE Superstar”

WWE Hall of Famer Scott Hall sees huge potential in NXT performer Lacey Evans.

Hall, a well-respected veteran with who is is known for having a great mind for the business, gave this bold prediction about Lacey Evans on Saturday night:

The 28-year-old Lacey Evans is a former United States Marine and member of the Marine Corps Special Reaction Team. She made her NXT debut in late 2016.

Dakota Kai Comments On Recent Loss, Beefs With Lacey Evans and Bianca Belair

The captain of Team Kick has been on something of a losing skid as of late. She’s dropped her last two matches in NXT.

Kai was defeated by Shayna Baszler on the May 9th episode of NXT. She had been portrayed as having been scared of the NXT Women’s Champion but finally did overcome her character arc and learned she can compete with the best the brand has to offer.

This week on NXT, Kai lost to Bianca Belair in a match taped from Chicago’s All-State Arena before Takeover: Chicago II. The 30-year-old from New Zealand recently commented on her loss.

Bianca Belair and Lacey Evans Comment on Dakota Kai

Kai’s loss to Bianca Belair on NXT this week will likely move Belair closer to a title shot. The former track and field star has been moving up the rankings steadily the last few months. Since WrestleMania, Belair has defeated Candice LeRae, Aliyah, and now Dakota Kai.

Belair took to Twitter to claim that after defeating Kai, she is the new captain of Team Kick.

Another member of NXT’s women’s division, Lacey Evans, also took to Twitter in response to Kai’s recent loss.

Evans might be on quite a winning streak but she has lost to Dakota Kai in the past. Kai defeated her earlier this year on the February 8th, 2018 edition of NXT. Evans also lost to Belair on a show which aired last August. The First Lady of NXT recently defeated Kairi Sane, however, seemingly indicating she is in line for a push.

Toni Storm will be the next in line to challenge for Shayna Baszler’s championship. The two will meet next week on the WWE UK Tournament shows. Depending on what happens between Baszler and Storm, Belair or Evans could be the next in line for a title shot.

NXT Women’s Roster:

Champion: Shayna Baszler

  • Nikki Cross
  • Bianca Belair
  • Lacey Evans
  • Kairi Sane
  • Dakota Kai
  • Candice LeRae
  • Vanessa Borne
  • Taynara Conti

NXT Star Returns To Action At Live Event In Albany, New York

Following a two month absence from the squared circle, Kairi Sane returned to action at tonight’s NXT live event in Albany, New York.

Taking on Lacey Evans in singles competition, the inaugural winner of the Mae Young Classic beat “The Lady of NXT” after nailing her with the Insane Elbow.

Sane had not wrestled since Nov. 18, 2017, at NXT TakeOver: WarGames in a Fatal 4-Way Match against Nikki Cross, Peyton Royce, and Ember Moon to see who would claim the vacant NXT Women’s Championship. Moon won the title after pinning Cross.

Information on Sane’s hiatus has been kept under wraps, although Wrestling Observer Newsletter editor Dave Meltzer said earlier this month that she was “banged up.”

Sane last appeared on NXT television on Dec. 27, 2017. After Moon successfully retained the NXT Women’s Championship against Sonya Deville, Sane appeared on the stage and gestured that she has the NXT Women’s Title in her sights. “The Pirate Princess” was suddenly ambushed from behind by the person she beat to win the inaugural Mae Young Classic, Shayna Baszler. “The Queen of Spades” used a sleeper hold to render Sane unconscious before staring Moon down.

NXT Star Loses Home In Hurricane Irma

NXT star Lacey Evans took to Instagram to announce that she lost her home, appliances, clothes, and personal possessions to Hurricane Irma in Florida. While Evans isn’t worried as much about her home or clothes, things that can be replaced, she was very much hurt by losing some photos of her late father that she can be seen attempting to recover in the photo below:

“I can replace appliances….clothes…hell, my entire home. But this will never be replaced. Never. I could give two shits about what I’ve lost. But damn this is the worse? part. All I have left of my father are these? saving what i can. #HurricaneIrma can kiss my ass.”

Mae Young Classic Competitor Opens Up About Her Father’s Passing From A Drug Overdose Months Before WWE Tryout

WWE Mae Young Classic competitor Lacey Evans recently spoke to USA Today For The Win to promote the tournament’s release on the WWE Network. During their conversation Lacey discussed her rough upbringing, being selected to participate in the tournament, and her father’s passing after a drug overdose just two months before her WWE tryout. Here are the highlights:

Being chosen to participate in the Mae Young Classic tournament:

“It means more than I can even explain. It is the first-ever women’s tournament that WWE has had and there were only select spots… There’s only 32 worldwide to represent what being a hardworking woman is and to be able to show what we’re capable of. I was so blessed and excited.”

Her rough upbringing:

“It was a rough life growing up between the addiction and depression and the suicide attempts that came later. My family was dealing with a lot of things. I was stuck in the middle of it. All I knew is what I didn’t want to become when I became older. I guess I had good role models in a bad way. That made me work extra hard and keep my mind focused.”

Her father passing from an overdose just months before her WWE tryout:

“My father overdosed two months before my WWE tryout… My biggest thing, and he didn’t make it. He didn’t make it to any graduation I’ve ever had. Not high school. Not college. Not the Marine Corps. I’ve done big things and he never made it to one.”
