    Women’s Championship Rematch Announced For Next Week’s SmackDown

    As reported earlier, Lana complained on Twitter a few days ago that he shoulders were not on the mat when she was pinned by Naomi on SmackDown.

    Lana talked her way into a shot at Naomi’s SmackDown Women’s Championship at Money in the Bank. She lost that match and then talked herself into a rematch on this past Tuesday’s episode of SmackDown. Lana lost that match as well, even after attacking Naomi from behind before the match started. Well, it appears that Lana has been able to once again talk herself into another shot at the SmackDown Women’s Championship.

    SmackDown GM Daniel Bryan announced today on Twitter that he has reviewed the photo of Lana’s shoulder up during the pinfall and has come to a decision. Naomi will once again defend her SmackDown Women’s Championship against Lana next Tuesday on SmackDown.

    Lana wants another shot at the SmackDown Women’s Championship

    WWE Superstar Lana wants another shot at Naomi’s SmackDown Women’s Championship. Lana is currently 0-2 against Naomi, as she lost her rematch in quick fashion on this past Tuesday’s episode of SmackDown. Lana took to Twitter and claimed that her shoulder was never on the mat when Naomi pinned her after connecting with a Moonsault. Lana provided photo evidence that her shoulder was off the mat and claimed that the referee and WWE was against her winning the title. Time will tell if Lana gets yet another opportunity at the SmackDown Women’s Championship.

    Tye Dillinger takes shot at R&B singer Chris Brown

    Chris Brown and his entourage were involved in a backstage altercation with rap group Migos at the BET Awards last weekend. SmackDown Superstar Tye Dillinger took to Twitter and referenced Brown being charged with felony assault in 2009 for beating his then-girlfriend Rihanna.

    Charlotte Flair On Jinder Mahal’s Rise In WWE, Finding Her Place On SmackDown, Lana Getting Title Shot

    Charlotte Flair recently did an interview with ESPN and discussed all of the matches on this past Sunday’s Money in the Bank card. Charlotte gave her thoughts on Jinder Mahal’s rise in WWE, Lana’s SmackDown Women’s Championship opportunity and finding her place on SmackDown. Here are some highlights from the interview:

    Lana getting a shot at the SmackDown Women’s Championship:

    “I believe pressure creates diamonds. Lana’s either going to sink or swim. I think it’s an awesome opportunity, a unique way to debut her wrestling skills. I think there’s excitement around it. It’s not your typical, “Hey, I’m here on Raw or SmackDown. I’m having my first match ever.” No, she has wrestled at WrestleMania on a preshow. I can’t say that it’s her first match, and she’s had NXT matches, but I think having this opportunity is huge.

    Anybody would want this opportunity. I want another title match. So, I think it’s exciting. I couldn’t be more excited for her. You either rise to the occasion or you don’t. I think she’s done a great job of transitioning from [being] with Rusev to maybe being a part of our division.”

    Jinder Mahal’s rise to the top of WWE:

    “Knowing Jinder Mahal on a backstage level, I couldn’t be more excited for his rise to this occasion, becoming this super-villain. He looks like a star. He works hard behind the scenes. Obviously, Randy Orton will go down as one of the greatest in history. So, I think, for Jinder, it’s got to be exciting to know that there’s so much anticipation around the match. There’s also the element of other legends being there, front row, and he’s at the center of it all with Randy. Randy’s been in this position multiple times. This is another walk in the park for him, probably. I’m just excited for Jinder, as a whole.”

    Finding her place on SmackDown:

    “I think that’s trying to figure out, “Am I a good guy, or am I bad guy? Am I still the dirtiest player in the game, or have I come to my senses and Becky Lynch has rubbed off on me?”

    The girls that I’m working with are absolutely amazing. It’s not whether I prefer Raw or SmackDown; it’s more, “What’s my role? Who’s Charlotte?” I think I’m still trying to figure out.”

    Lana Says She Was Bred For The Entertainment Business

    WWE Superstar Lana recently did an interview with USA Today’s “For The Win” to promote the WWE’s Money In The Bank (MITB) pay-per-view (PPV) this weekend (Sun. June 18, 2017), which includes her SmackDown Live Women’s Title match against Naomi. Here’s what she had to say:

    Her journey into the squared circle:

    “I’m really excited about showing my in-ring journey because I have been training a lot over the last year. It wasn’t always a skip in the park, but I was just so hungry to learn. My past is very, very different than [the other performers]. But I am a strong believer to follow your own path, no matter what people think.”

    Not changing her character after joining SmackDown Live as a singles competitor:

    “I’m the same ‘Ravishing Russian’ that you’ve always known. It’s funny to me when I hear people say that it’s a new character. I embody ‘Ravishing.’ I come out in the most ravishing dress. I have a ravishing entrance. I’m ravishing people’s hearts. I was managing Rusev and wearing a suit because if you’re managing someone or an agent in real life, you are going to wear a suit to work. Right now, I’m the focal point, I’m the one competing.

    “If people know anything about Russians, we do things really over the top. We wear high heels everywhere. We show up in the most extravagant outfits. I am just embodying how I was raised and what I grew up in. Some people might think we’re extra, I just think we’re ravishing. I’m the same woman, I’m just going to be crushing people myself.”

    Believing she was bred for the entertainment industry:

    “If you have an idea of the stereotype of a Russian teacher and their type of discipline, that was my teacher. They came with little paddles and threw shoes and the more they screamed at you, the more they believed in you. You wanted them to scream at you and call you stupid. That bred me for the rest of my life. That prepared me for the entertainment industry – ‘It’s OK. Don’t believe in me, laugh at me, think I’m not going to succeed, but I’m going to prove you wrong.’”

    Major Update On Kurt Angle’s WWE In-Ring Future, Lana Taunts Naomi On Social Media

    Top WWE Superstar rumored to be opponent for Kurt Angle  

    According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE officials are planning on doing a match between Triple H and Kurt Angle in the future. RAW GM Kurt Angle currently has a storyline going on RAW in which he is receiving messages on his phone. Angle and RAW announcer Corey Graves have also had several discussions and Angle has even come down to the announce table in the middle of the show to talk to him. Stephanie McMahon has been off TV since she fell through a table at WrestleMania 33. Kurt Angle was named the new RAW GM the night after WrestleMania 33. Stephanie McMahon should be making her return to RAW soon and will begin working with her new RAW GM.

    Lana taunts Naomi on social media

    Lana has been sending out a bunch of tweets about her SmackDown Women’s Championship match this Sunday at Money in the Bank. Lana made her SmackDown debut a week ago and asked to join the Money in the Bank Ladder Match. All the Superstars in the match laughed at her, but Naomi grabbed the microphone and poked fun at her. Lana hasn’t let that go and interfered in Naomi’s match last week. On last night’s SmackDown, Lana watched Naomi’s match against Tamina from ringside. After the match was over, Lana attacked Naomi and then celebrated over her with the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Naomi will look to get revenge this Sunday as she defends her title against Lana at Money in the Bank.

    Backstage Update on Brock Lesnar’s Universal Title Defenses, Lana’s Role on SD Live

    Its been an interesting time over on SmackDown Live’s women’s division lately. Lana made her SmackDown debut this past Tuesday (June 6, 2017) and found herself in a SmackDown Live Women’s Title match against Naomi at the Money In The Bank (MITB) pay-per-view (PPV) later this month.

    Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that although Lana is currently supposed to be a heel on Tuesday nights, she will almost certainly be a babyface due to the gimmick she is currently working. It was also noted that Lana is basically working the role that was supposed to be for Eva Marie, who is now focusing on acting and isn’t returning to the company.

    As for WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar, he is currently set to defend his title against Samoa Joe at the Great Balls Of Fire PPV on July 9th. The match is being widely regarded as a dream match for most professional wrestling fans, and it’ll all go down from the Cajundome in Lafayette, Louisianna. The Observer noted that “The Beast” is set to face Braun Strowman at SummerSlam in August, and WWE officials are planning to do Lesnar vs. Finn Balor as well as Lesnar vs. Seth Rollins before the former UFC champ takes on Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 34.

    Jim Ross Reacts to Lana’s SmackDown Live Women’s Title Shot

    Longtime WWE commentator and WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross has released another blog on his JR’s BBQ website. Ross commented on the WWE’s booking of WWE Champ Jinder Mahal, Lana’s SmackDown Live Women’s Title opportunity, and the upcoming female Money In The Bank (MITB) Ladder match. Here are the highlights:

    WWE’s booking of Jinder Mahal:

    “I’m a fan of the decision to make Jinder Mahal the WWE Champ, but I feel that his random utilization of his Singh sidekicks might be overdone. Nonetheless, the former Bollywood Boys take a helluva, ass whipping. Enjoying the villains getting success, which generally adds to the build of most storylines within the genre. If I were to err in booking, and I have plenty of times, I’d suggest erring on the side of antagonist angst more often than not. ‘Heat’ is good.”

    Lana’s SmackDown Women’s Title shot:

    “Lana ‘earning’ a Women’s Tile match? Hmm….the pressure is on for her to deliver in front of a somewhat unforgiving and discerning fan base.”

    Upcoming female MITB Ladder Match:

    “Arguably, today I’m more excited to see the women’s [MITB] bout than the men’s in a few weeks, essentially because of the unique nature of this match being the first ever Women’s MITB match ever. I see these athletic women perceiving this booking as very personal and one can only hope that they are discerning about whey they want to do in this match and remember that their safety should never be compromised, which is largely up to the talents in the match. The Gents in the their TLC bout better lace them up tight or they could be outperformed by the women here.”

    – In the video below, SmackDown Live star AJ Styles joined Talking Smack following last night’s (Tues. June 6, 2017) episode of SmackDown Live to discuss the upcoming Money In The Bank (MITB) Ladder match and when he’d cash-in if he were to win.

    Styles said it would all depend on how he feels after the match and if he’s in good physical condition. “The Phenomenal One” stated “Winners find a way to win,” and if he gets the briefcase, he’s focused on cashing in at the right time:

    – As we’ve previously reported, Lana made her SmackDown Live debut last night and also joined Talking Smack. Lana discussed receiving a shot at the SmackDown Live Women’s Champion Naomi at the MITB pay-per-view (PPV), seeing as the rest of the women’s division will be involved in the first ever female MITB Ladder Match.

    Lana claimed that SmackDown Live is “The Land Of Opportunity” and also said she has had doubters her entire life telling her she’d never amount to anything. After crossing the ocean and making it out of her ‘pathetic’ little village in Russia, look at where she is now. “The Ravishing Russian” says she will prove all her doubters wrong against Naomi and vows to make history.     Lana Returns, Will Challenge Naomi At Money In The Bank

    On this week’s episode of SmackDown, Lana made her debut and asked to be a part of the Money in the Bank ladder match. Shane McMahon declined and Naomi laughed at her for even asking to be a part of it. Lana then claimed that she could defeat Naomi and got in her face. Shane McMahon then broke up the argument and told Lana that Women’s Championship matches needed to be earned. Lana then threw a tantrum and exited the ring.

    During the 6-woman tag match on SmackDown, Lana came down to the ring and tripped up Naomi on the ring apron. This wound up costing Naomi the match and Lana posed with the Welcoming Committee after their victory. Later on during SmackDown, Naomi approached Shane McMahon backstage. Naomi asked for a match against Lana at Money in the Bank and said that she would be willing to put her SmackDown Women’s Championship on the line. SmackDown commissioner Shane McMahon then made the match official. Naomi will defend her title against Lana at Money in the Bank on June 18th.

    Lana Wants in on The SmackDown Live Women’s MITB Ladder Match

    On yesterday’s (Tues. May 30, 2017) episode of SmackDown Live, it was announced that the WWE’s first ever women’s Money In The Bank ladder match would go down at the upcoming Money In The Bank pay-per-view (PPV) on June 18th.

    The participants in the match will be Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Tamina, Carmella and Natalya, but it seems as though Lana wants to get in on the action as well. Currently, the match only has five women as opposed to the traditional six, leaving a potential empty slot open for one last competitor. Lana took to Twitter to campaign for a chance at the coveted briefcase, which guarantees the winner a shot at the SmackDown Live Women’s Title whenever they’d like:

    Lana’s SmackDown Live debut as a singles competitor has yet to occur, but her arrival has been promoted over the past few weeks with various vignettes of her dancing on a chair. Do you want to see Lana as the sixth participant in the MITB ladder match?

    While promotional videos for Lana’s return to WWE don’t seem to indicate this, it appears as though Lana will be wrestling on the main roster when she returns.

    As Rusev heals up from his injury, Lana has been at the WWE performance centre in Orlando, and on tour with NXT.

    Lana On NXT House Show Circuit

    Lana hasn’t just been training however, she’s also been competing on house shows. Since April 20th, she has appeared on 9 NXT house shows, winning each match.

    She has mainly wrestled people yet to appear on NXT programming, but she also defeated Ruby Riot, and Liv Morgan twice.

    – WWE returns to Madison Square Garden with a live event scheduled for Friday, July 7th. Ticketmaster.com has a live pre-sale offering using the code MSGWWE.

    – Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is on the cover of the latest National Review, a conservative political magazine.  In a cover story titled, “The Celebrity We Need” looks at the possibility of The Rock getting into politics. The Rock has stated on more than one occasion that he might run for President one day and the National Review thinks Johnson has a lot of the characteristics of a candidate with upside.

    “The GOP has a celebrity in the White House, he brings in celebrity friends for photo ops, and, outside the White House gates, progressive celebrities spew vitriol at their hated former entertainment-industry colleague. The Rock, however, has followed a different path. Rather than self-seriously viewing his career as secondary to his activism, Johnson clearly aims to entertain.     – Lana responded to fans on Twitter questioning her new ‘dancer’ character coming soon to SmackDown. With one fan comparing her to Emmalina and another saying, “I guess if you can’t wrestle, then dance” Lana replied:

    – Zack Ryder is now back in the ring training for his return after undergoing surgery back in December to repair an ACL tear.

    In recent weeks, WWE has been running promos hyping that Lana is coming soon to SmackDown Live. Rusev is currently recovering from shoulder surgery and is expected to be out of action for another 3 months. While Rusev trains for his return this summer, Lana is breaking off on her own and will be joining SmackDown’s Women’s division.

    Lana has been training at the Performance Center and wrestling in NXT live events, refining her new “dancer” character including her ring entrance and mannerisms. She defeated Ruby Riot at Thursday night’s NXT live event from Tampa, FL.

    Lana’s New Ring Gear Potentially Revealed

    WWE Superstar Natalya may have revealed Lana’s new ring attire in a new tweet posted earlier today. Natalya was promoting the new episode of Total Divas that airs later this evening. WWE has been hyping Lana’s SmackDown debut for the past couple of weeks and have released two videos. In both videos, Lana is seen dancing by a chair and the videos ends with “coming soon to SmackDown Live”. In the photo below, Lana’s new ring gear may have been revealed.

    Nia Jax On Facing Tamina Snuka In The Future

    A fan sent a tweet to WWE Superstar Nia Jax and stated that he would love to see Tamina Snuka and Nia Jax square off in the ring. Nia Jax quoted the tweet and ensured the fan that he will see that in the future. Tamina Snuka and Nia Jax are cousins and Nia claimed that “nobody fights harder than family”.

    As reported here yesterday, Lana sent out two disturbing tweets alleging misconduct by TSA agents at Boston Logan Airport late Monday night. Lana contacted police regarding the incident and provided an update on Twitter last night.

    Following Raw on Monday night Lana took to Twitter to complain about sexual misconduct on behalf of the airport’s TSA agents.

    Lana would later delete a tweet which read:

    CJ Perry, better known to wrestling fans as Lana, sent out two disturbing tweets early this morning alleging misconduct by TSA agents at the Boston Logan Airport.

    Inappropriate Conduct By TSA Agents?

    Lana is far from the first person to claim sexual misconduct by TSA agents. In 2015, in an article for Time Magazine a former TSA agent claimed that groping was considered “business as usual” in the industry. Further articles have been published in the past about the impact TSA agents can have on those who are sexual assault survivors.

    Lana directed her tweets to the airport, but it seems they have yet to reply publicly to Lana’s accusations, and possibly will never do so.

    During Smackdown, it was announced that New Day are coming to Smackdown. The former Raw Tag Team Champions will make their SmackDown debut soon. The announcement was made in a short video package and New Day did not appear on the show. You can check out the video below.

    It was also announced that Lana will be joining the Smackdown roster. Lana was shown dancing in a new video and will be make her Smackdown debut sometime in the near future. It was also announced that Rusev will be coming to Smackdown when he returns from injury

    WWE Superstar Lana was a guest on Busted Open on Sirius XM and provided an update on her husband Rusev’s shoulder injury. Lana revealed that Rusev had shoulder surgery and has just recently started working out again. Lana stated that Rusev will return to WWE in 2-4 months.

    Karl Anderson Vows To Get Revenge On Hardy Boyz

    Karl Anderson took to Twitter to congratulate the returning Hardy Boyz on winning the Raw Tag Team Championships at Wrestlemania 33. The Hardy Boyz defended the titles against Gallows and Anderson the following night on Monday Night Raw. Matt and Jeff Hardy once again got the best of Gallows and Anderson and won the match. Anderson vowed to get revenge in a post on Twitter.

    Update On Rusev’s Shoulder Surgery & How Long He’ll Be Out, Lana Continues Training

    As noted earlier this week, Rusev is out of action with a shoulder injury and won’t be competing at WrestleMania 33. Following up on this story, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Rusev underwent shoulder surgery back on 3/9 and is expected to be out of action for two months.

    It was known for a few months that Rusev needed the surgery and he was reportedly trying to put it off a little longer so he could work WrestleMania. His most recent match took place at Fastlane (3/5) when he suffered a decisive loss to Big Show.  The surgery and subsequent recovery period is the reason his team with Jinder Mahal was split up so abruptly.

    While Rusev is out of action, Lana is continuing her in-ring training. She was spotted at the WWE Performance Center last week and we’ll probably see her working occasional NXT live events.

    – Former Ring Of Honor World Champion Michael Elgin announced on Thursday that he’ll no longer be working for the promotion. He will continue working for New Japan Pro Wrestling (including their joint shows with ROH overseas), but will be working elsewhere in the United States. Elgin signed a 2-year deal with NJPW earlier this year.     – There was a shakeup with WWE creative this week. Dave Meltzer reports that Tom Casiello, the managing lead writer  who oversaw both the RAW and SmackDown teams, was let go. Casiello was a strong proponent of women’s wrestling.

    – For those keeping score, the championship held by AJ Styles is once again listed as the “WWE Championship” at WWE.com. In recent months it’s been referred to as the WWE World Championship and the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

    – Lana competed at Friday night’s NXT live event from Winter Haven, FL, defeating Sarah Bridges (Crazy Mary Dobson). Lana worked as a babyface, had new entrance music, danced a lot and was wearing ring gear similar to when she was paired with Dolph Ziggler on WWE TV.     Lana wrestled her first match since June 26th at Thursday’s NXT house show in St. Petersburg, FL. She scored a win over Sarah Bridges (formerly known as Crazy Mary Dobson). According to a few fans on Twitter, Lana looked impressive and won the match with a fisherman’s spinebuster. She worked as a babyface and was said to be over with the crowd.

    Lana took to Twitter after the match, just her 15th match on record, and called it one of her biggest life miracles. She said:
