    AAA’s Laredo Kid on Having Emergency Surgery: ‘It Has Been The Toughest Battle of my Life’

    Laredo Kid has opened up on having emergency surgery last month after suffering an injury during his match against El Hijo del Vikingo in Monterrey on October 23. The AAA star had to undergo the knife as a result. 

    He spent nine days in the hospital and spoke publicly for the first time in an interview with the Laredo Morning Times. The article noted that Kid’s representatives said he could not speak for days after the injury. Kid called it the toughest battle he had ever fought.

    “As I ended my fight with Vikingo, I had to be transported to San Vicente Hospital immediately and had to receive emergency surgery, as one of my intestines have become ruptured during the fight. It has been the toughest battle I have ever fought in my career and life,” Laredo Kid said.

    Kid said the damage was life-threatening, and he spent more than a week in the hospital. In addition to announcing his return to his native country, the AAA star thanked everyone for their support. He also acknowledged AAA’s help.

    “After being hospitalized for nine days and fighting for my life, I want to tell everybody that I am back,” Laredo Kid said. “I am back at my house with my family and my children, and it is thanks to all of you — and all of my Laredo fanaticos — that I am better, because you all sent your well wishes, vibes and prayers. I really want to thank you all for always wanting to stay updated about my condition, and I especially want to thank my company Lucha Libre AAA that was always looking as to how I was doing,” Laredo Kid said.

    Kid stated that he still has a long way to go in his recovery but that his main priority right now is getting better so he can get back in the ring. With the fans’ support, he looks forward to getting back into the ring. 

    Laredo Kid was supposed to wrestle at PWG DINK on November 6. However, due to his recovery, he was unable to do so.

    Laredo Kid Undergoes Emergency Surgery – AAA Issue Statement

    Impact Wrestling and AAA star Laredo Kid is out indefinitely after having to undergo emergency surgery this week.

    Laredo Kid (real name unknown) made his Impact debut in 2017 and returned to the promotion last year.

    In 2019, he also made a one-off appearance for AEW, replacing PAC and teaming with the Lucha Bros. to face The Elite.

    On the March 24, 2021, episode of AEW Dynamite, Kid returned to AEW, again teaming with the Lucha Bros.

    The Injury

    On Instagram, a statement on Kid’s account confirmed that he had to undergo “emergency surgery” following a show in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico.

    The statement did not specify what kind of surgery Kid required, but that “due to the severity of what happened the recovery time is not yet known.”

    The full statement, translated into English, is as follows.

    I don’t know how or where to start with this news — Yesterday unfortunately @laredokidpro had to be taken by ambulance to the hospital after finishing the fight for the championship in Monterrey. He had to undergo early morning emergency surgery. GAD a little while ago was aware and aware of his situation to alert family + closest friends.

    Hopefully in the next few hours, days your situation improves and becomes stable —- Fans, promoters, friends, family and colleagues of Laredo, I will try to keep up with messages and be able to reply to most. * Promoters / events * with dates scheduled in the following months — due to the severity of what happened the recovery time is not yet known, any questions or comments I will be answering msgs, emails, for the time being avoid calls.

    AAA Statement

    Kid worked for AAA for years, before departing in 2011 to work on the Mexican independent scene.

    In a statement of their own (translated by PW Insider) AAA said that Kid had been suffering from abdominal pain.

    At the end of our event Campeonato Showcenter on October 23, 2022, Laredo Kid was attended to by medical personnel upon presenting severe abdominal pain. He was taken to a nearby hospital to be looked at and to find a diagnosis.

    After midnight on Monday, October 24, he underwent surgery with positive results.

    He is currently stable and under medical supervision.

    We will continue to provide updated information as we receive it from his doctors.”

    Laredo Kid Has Signed With Impact Wrestling

    Laredo Kid has been a regular for Impact Wrestling in recent months. He has now officially signed a contract with the promotion.

    The high-flying star recently had an interview with Darren Paltrowitz. He discussed a number of things, including his desire to win the X-Division championship and more.

    During the talk he also revealed that he was offered a contract with Impact and Laredo Kid confirmed that he has signed a deal with the company:

    “When I see all the crazy moves they do, I try to do the same, you know? And training more [to] be there one day

    And when I had the opportunity to be — to sign with IMPACT, it’s great, you know? Right now, it’s a dream to have this opportunity” said Laredo Kid, “then I’m going to find the X Division belt.”

    Laredo Kid made his Impact Wrestling debut in March 2017 as part of the company’s partnership with Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide. He is also the current AAA World Cruiserweight Champion.

    The Luchador had a tryout with WWE in 2015 as well. He worked a tag team match with Sammy Guevara under the ring name Tony Guevara. The duo lost a SmackDown dark match to Los Matadores.

    Tony Khan Confirms AAA Star Will Be Returning To AEW

    AEW President Tony Khan recently confirmed that AAA star Laredo Kid will be returning to the promotion this Wednesday.

    Laredo Kid first performed in All Elite back at Fyter Fest 2019. The AAA star’s appearance on Wednesday will be his debut on AEW’s Dynamite show.

    “Nearly 2 years after his AEW debut in a classic match at Fyter Fest 2019; Laredo Kid will return for his AEW Dynamite debut this Wednesday LIVE on TNT” Tony Khan wrote on Twitter.

    Khan confirmed that Laredo Kid will be joining Death Triangle members Penta and Rey Fenix. Kid replaces PAC who was injured at the AEW Revolution PPV, hurting his ankle.

    “Reuniting with the Lucha Brothers Rey Fenix & Penta El Zero M to battle World Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks and Brandon Cutler.”

    PAC and Rey Fenix are the number 1 contenders to The Young Bucks’ AEW Tag Team Championships. It has not been confirmed when the match for the titles will be taking place.

    “With PAC recovering from injuring his ankle at Revolution, he’s not yet cleared for the tag title shot with Rey Fenix v. The Young Bucks” Khan continued on Twitter. “So Death Triangle are bringing back the Lucha Brothers’ original Trios partner Laredo Kid to get the edge ahead of the title match!”

    Laredo Kid Joins MLW For The Restart, Title Unification Match In The Works

    AAA World Cruiserweight champion Laredo Kid is joining Major League Wrestling (MLW) for #TheRestart.

    Laredo Kid is one of the top luchadores in all of pro wrestling. He is interested in unifying AAA’s Cruiserweight title with the MLW World Middleweight championship, currently held by Myron Reed.

    SEScoops can confirm that an inter-promotional unification match is currently in the works and likely to happen in the months ahead.

    Laredo Kid made his debut for MLW last year. He’s made a few appearances on MLW programming, including a match against Hammerstone during the MLW vs. AAA Super Series event that took place earlier this year.

    In addition to wrestling for AAA and MLW, Laredo Kid has wrestled for Impact Wrestling, AEW and even had a WWE tryout back in 2015, when he wrestled without a mask and teamed up with Sammy Guevara in a losing effort to Los Matadores (Primo and Epico).

    MLW returns Wednesday, November 18th with the premiere of MLW Fusion on Fubo Sports and YouTube. The Wednesday episodes replay (and premiere on national television) Saturday nights at 10pm ET on beIN SPORTS.
