Leva Bates Was Surprised To Be Signed By AEW As The Librarian

Leva Bates, who plays the librarian gimmick in All Elite Wrestling, was ecstatic when she heard that the company was going to sign her.

AEW’s President Tony Khan wanted a librarian character for the company and it was decided that a wrestler would be chosen through an audition. Many wrestlers sent in their audition tapes, but Bates was ultimately chosen to play the part.

Speaking to Comicbook.com, Leva discussed why she decided to submit the audition tape for the role and revealed how she reacted when she was chosen.

“I was just kind of doing it for the fun of it. So yeah that was really just one of those, ‘Oh my god it really worked [situations]!’ I mean obviously I did have intentions on wanting to be with AEW. Out of all of the companies that was my number one spot I really wanted to be at. It fits me and my personality and I feel like this company is where I belong so I took a chance. But yeah, no, there was no talk of me being within the company at all. It was one of those like, ‘Okay, I’ll just try it.’ And then I literally thought it was going to be like, ‘Oh, cool yeah a little bit of PR. I’m moving forward,’ and then when it actually panned through I was beyond shocked and over-ecstatic. It was definitely a moment where I didn’t expect when I got that call,” Bates said.

Bates was actually not the only one selected for AEW’s librarian role. The company had announced that they had also selected Peter Avalon for the role, and now there would be two librarians. She made her singles debut at Fyter Fest but quickly booed by fans. Bates said that fans were initially not very welcoming to the idea of a librarian duo, but she believes that they both can work well together and fans just need to give the pair a chance.

“It actually went through a roller coaster. People were super excited, especially at Double or Nothing [in a backstage segment] they were super happy about it. But then in the flesh they weren’t sure what to think of it because if you look at it I’m a super good guy and Peter is not. So it’s a very interesting dichotomy and I don’t think people gave, at the second, a chance to really let it build and grow. Because I felt like Peter and I are a wonderful, odd couple team. We gel really well with each other but we both have different personality traits. So I don’t think people knew how to handle it since everyone, especially at Daytona, everyone knows me as the super gamer girl, super nerd cosplayer so I’m coming out not necessarily in that form,” Bates said.

AEW Signs Leva Bates, Private Party & Peter Avalon

Many of AEW’s several Executive Vice Presidents released a new episode of “Being the Elite” earlier today. The executive team announced new signings for the young promotion.

Perhaps wrestling under a librarian gimmick will be Leva Bates.

A slight hiccup involving this story, however, is that the Young Bucks also signed a performer to work under the librarian gimmick. Matt & Nick Jackson have expressed they would prefer if Peter Avalon was the librarian for the promotion.

Private Party Is All Elite

AEW also announced the signing of Marq Quen and Isiah Kassidy, collectively known as Private Party. The team made their debut in 2015 and have been wrestling primarily for the House of Glory promotion in New York. They are former HOG tag team champions.

Nobody Likes Sammy Guevara – Not Even His Mom

Also during today’s episode, Sammy Guevara visited his mother. He gave her one of his new t-shirts but when the cameras were gone, it was revealed that even his mother isn’t a big fan of Sammy.

Fyter Fest Expenses Piling Up

Kenny Omega was shown on this week’s episode attempting to purchase the same fighter jet used by Tom Cruise in Top Gun. He also asked if Tom Cruise was available as well. Omega has been spending like crazy lately in order to make Fyter Fest the most luxurious gaming and wrestling event ever. There are concerns he’s spent too much of Tony Khan’s money already, however.

Matt Jackson attempted to call Nick in order to discuss Kenny’s spending but Nick opted not to take his call.

Where Is The Girl Joey Ryan Used To Hang Out With?

Joey Ryan was shown on this week’s episode looking rather irritable. Perhaps Joey is upset at how many people keep asking him whatever happened to that girl he used to hang out with. He also seems upset that nobody ever saves him from getting beaten up anymore.

Will Hangman Page Be At Double or Nothing In Full Gear?

An irritated Matt Jackson spoke to Hangman Page on this week’s episode as well. Page said that one potato chip is the only cheat meal he’s had. He also said he’s had to uproot and move his family but Matt seemed not to care. Page admitted to Matt, however, that he is, in fact, not “full gear ready” yet. We then saw a hidden camera shot of Page which indicated someone is spying on him.

The show closed with Nick Jackson attempting to call someone stored in his contact list as “Dead Friend 1”.

Spoiler: Two Familiar Faces Return During Tonight’s NXT TV Tapings

https://youtu.be/n0emUF8jDOM

Two familiar faces made their respective NXT returns at the NXT television taping on Saturday night, as Blue Pants (Leva Bates) and former TNA World Heavyweight Champion James Storm both worked matches.

A while back, it was reported that Blue Pants had backstage heat on her in WWE and would not be brought back any time soon, due to an incident involving alcohol during SummerSlam weekend in Brooklyn, New York.

Blue Pants taped a match on Thursday night with Nia Jax that will air on the December 2nd edition of NXT. Her last match with NXT was a loss to Alexa Bliss at the August 13th NXT tapings. Her last NXT appearance was at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn.

In Storm’s case, he recently made his NXT debut at the NXT tapings held October 8th. Storm beat Danny Burch that night. On the 12/2 edition of NXT, Storm will return on NXT television for the first time since his 10/8 debut, as he taped a match with Adam Rose.

A few weeks ago, it was reported that Storm had yet to actually sign an official WWE contract. Whether or not that remains the case now that he has been brought back to NXT TV remains to be seen. We’ll keep you posted.

Blue Pants Explains How She Ended Up In NXT, What Triple H Told Her & More

Blue Pants recently spoke with WWE.com to explain how she ended up in NXT. During the interview, it is acknowledged that she is independent star Leva Bates. Below are highlights from the interview.

On how she ended up in NXT: “I actually filled out the recruit page, because you always hear, “Hey, fill out the recruit page,” and I got a call asking if I would be interested in wrestling a match at NXT! So, of course, I said yes. [Laughs] I ended up getting called, and the name Blue Pants actually came about [when] I was stretching near the ring. At that point I was told I was going to wrestle Carmella, and Enzo & Cass were brainstorming an [intro] just off the top of their heads. They were like, “Maybe we should call her out, the girl with the blue pants.” I laughed about that, I just thought it was really funny. I went, “Absolutely! Do that!” I was just wearing the pants to roll around in, I wasn’t sure I was going to actually wrestle in that outfit. I have a crazy amount of costumes. I always over-pack so I have hundreds of things with me. I just put the blue pants on real quick to roll around in the ring, stretch, kind of get comfortable and it just stuck … that’s how Blue Pants was born, and I just embraced it!”

On what Triple H said to her after her first few matches: “The first time I came back he said, “You got a Blue Pants chant. I don’t even. I can’t,” and then he started laughing. I shook his hand and said, “Well, thank you for everything, I really appreciate this opportunity.” He said, “You’re welcome,” and then he just started laughing at my blue pants! That was kind of a really awesome moment for me, to make Triple H laugh.”

On having a more regular role in WWE: “I would absolutely love that! I kind of go with the flow. If they want to keep calling me back, if they want to make it permanent, if they want to say, “Alright, the ship has sailed,” I will roll with it. Right now I could stress out about it, but you gotta have fun with it! Enjoy the moment as it happens, and that’s what I’m doing: enjoying every single second. If it continues to go on and becomes a permanent thing, hallelujah, that’d be awesome. Even if it doesn’t, I still accomplished a dream of mine. Actually a couple of dreams of mine! I got [to wrestle] for WWE, I got to wrestle in front of a huge crowd and I got to win in a match for WWE, so all of these dreams have happened! To keep pursuing it? Absolutely, I would love to do that. I’m just enjoying it while I can.”
