Details On Lio Rush’s Financial Issues With WWE

Lio Rush has been in news lately due to reports of his backstage conduct. Most of the reports are related to his behavior towards industry veterans and violation of locker room ethics. He has earned a reputation of having an inflated perception of his value in WWE.

A report from PWInsider sheds new light on Rush’s situation. Rush reportedly turned down a big money offer from WWE, despite his public complains about compensation.

Rush has had complaints about his road expenses, including having to pay for his own vehicle and not having enough money to cover his hotel bills. This is an issue Mark Henry touched recently and the WWE Hall Of Famer suggested that he needs to change the way he is spending instead of blaming it on the office.

Rush also complained about not being involved in the meet and greet sessions of Bobby Lashley and not being paid royalties for merchandise with his catchphrase on it. During his recent interview with Fightful, Rush implied that his issues were not his on-screen persona but “walking around broke in the biggest sports entertainment industry that there is while having two kids and a wife to support.”

What’s interesting to note here is that despite these claims, the former NXT Star who is believed to be on a development contract right now was offered a new five-year contract that was in the $300,000/year range. That sounds like a great offer for someone in his position, but he turned it down and allegedly wanted double that amount.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter says there are plans to send Lio Rush back to NXT. The idea was to build him a new character which would present him as something more than just a mouthpiece to the all-mighty Bobby Lashley. Though Rush on at least one occasion instead suggested that they should release him so he can “show them” what he can accomplish outside of the company.

Lio Rush has not appeared on WWE TV for the past few weeks and while he was backstage for the previous 2 episodes of Raw, he wasn’t used on screen. The decision was made to pull him out of the upcoming European Tour last week.

There is no word on what WWE is planning for his future but his current contract with the company expires in 2020.

  • Mark Henry Says He Tried To Help Lio Rush

Mark Henry Says He Tried To Help Lio Rush

Mark Henry was on Busted Open Radio today and said that he pulled Lio Rush aside recently and attempted to give him some advice. According to Henry’s comments, however, Rush was not receptive to him.

“I pulled him aside the last time I saw him and told him ‘I’m hearing stuff in the locker room. What’s wrong?’ He said nothing’s wrong. It was a blatant lie to my face. I let him know that if he has a question, right now is the time to do that,” Henry said.

Henry expressed frustration that Rush was not honest with him about the situation.

“You’re likely not going to run into someone who knows the system like I know the system. He didn’t do that. He lied to my face. Sometimes you have to talk to people that know more than you do,” Henry continued.

Lio Rush Upset With Financial Compensation

Rush made several statements to Fightful recently, stating he is not happy with how he is financially compensated by WWE.

“My issue is the fact that I haven’t been on meet & greets with Bobby, haven’t been getting paid for merchandise for us that has my catchphrases on them. (I) have been sent to live shows and TVs and forced to pay for my own rental for 5 days as well as hotel while not making enough money to do so. Walking around broke in the biggest sports entertainment industry that there is while having two kids and a wife to support,” Rush said.

Henry mentioned today that he spoke to Rush about these comments specifically.

“If you can’t pay for a rental car, you can’t pay for a hotel with the money that you’re making every week then you need to change the way you’re spending. You can’t blame that on the office. If you spent everything before you got it, that’s your problem,” Henry said.

“Back in my day, they would’ve told him, ‘Lio, Bobby shouldn’t have to drive. He shouldn’t have to carry his bag.’ Yokozuna was my responsibility,” he continued.

What Does The Future Hold For Lio Rush?

Henry also addressed what he feels will come next in this saga.

“After these comments, he’s gonna have to go somewhere, or the company’s gonna have to tell him “good luck with your future endeavors.”

    https://twitter.com/itsLioRush/status/1123369337342103553?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1123369337342103553&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fuproxx.com%2Fprowrestling%2Flio-rush-wwe-backstage-heat-report-royalties-expenses%2F

Henry also addressed the comments made in the above Tweet by Rush.

“It’s not a race issue. It’s an ego issue. Who are you? Nobody is exempt from being respectful to the business and paying homage to the guys drawing money. We all have done it. Steve Austin did it. The Rock did it. You better than The Rock? Get the hell outta here!”

  • More Heat On Lio Rush, Update On His Future With WWE

More Heat On Lio Rush, Update On His Future With WWE

We have an update on Lio Rush, courtesy of PWInsider. Rush’s WWE run has been plagued with reports of backstage heat. He addressed the situation last week on social media, but his future on the main roster remains in question.

The Man of the Hour was backstage at Monday’s Raw, but he was not used on camera despite Bobby Lashley having a prominent role. WWE has yet to acknowledge his absence. The latest buzz is that Lio Rush will soon be moved back to WWE’s NXT brand

Lio Rush did not make any allies when he mocked Tenille Dashwood’s WWE release back in the fall of 2017. PWInsider has provided new details about a few other incidents that are working against the 24 year old star.

Rush apparently got a lot of heat on himself back in November on WWE’s European tour. Junior members of the roster are expected to follow backstage etiquette that includes menial tasks. For example, handing out water bottles to talent in the gorilla position after their matches, setting up a private area for the talent back at the hotel, etc. Rush did not participate in these ‘paying your dues’ tasks. Not only was he unreceptive to feedback, but he reportedly complained to WWE management.

In addition to these incidents, Rush has also been bringing people backstage without proper credentials and has continuously ignored advice from veteran talent.

Overall, he’s earned a reputation that he feels ‘above it all’ and does not have to follow the rules and protocols that apply to everyone else. The behavior was first chalked up to inexperience, but things have not improved and he’s turning out to be his own worst enemy.

  • Lio Rush Responds To Report Of Backstage Heat

Lio Rush Responds To Report Of Backstage Heat

Lio Rush became a topic of discussion early in his WWE career when he caught some backstage heat over his tweets regarding Tenille Dashwood’s release from the company.

He made some headlines again recently when Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that Rush has again rubbed some people backstage the wrong way.

Now the Man Of The Hour has responded to these reports on him by releasing a lengthy statement from his Twitter account and other social media profiles.

Lio wrote that no matter what you do in your life and what route you take, there will always be people out there who will try to tear you apart and tell you that you can’t do something.

He went on to explain that he does what he does for his family and towards the end of the statement he claimed that one doesn’t always know all the facts:

    https://twitter.com/itsLioRush/status/1121447619996344320

For those who didn’t read the previous report on the matter, it was said that Lio Rush has made it clear backstage that he believes he should be a top star of the Raw brand he currently works in.

However, his thoughts didn’t sit well with everybody and with his confidence he has rubbed some people the wrong way.

Lio Rush Reportedly Has Heat Again Backstage In WWE

Lio Rush is reported to have rubbed some the wrong way backstage in WWE. According to a recent report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Rush is not shy about telling people backstage he feels he should be a top guy on RAW.

“There is internal heat on Lio Rush,” Dave Meltzer wrote. “The story goes that he’s made it very clear to many people that he thinks he should be a/the top guy on the brand, and hasn’t been shy about saying it.”

The report also says that Rush is very confident and this can irritate some of his colleagues.

    Lio Rush in WWE

This isn’t the first time Rush’s name has come up in regards to having heat with his fellow WWE workers. Following WWE’s release of Tenille Dashwood (FKA Emma) in the fall of 2017, Rush took criticism for posting a Tweet considered insensitive to Dashwood’s release.

Peyton Royce, currently 1/2 of the WWE Women’s Tag champs, responded to Rush’s comment about Emma with the following Tweet:

Lio Rush on the Main Roster

Rush got called up to the main roster last summer. He’s competed on both 205 Live and RAW since then.

In the build-up to WrestleMania, he wrestled alongside Bobby Lashley in several handicap matches against Finn Balor. Rush hasn’t wrestled on 205 Live since February. His last match in the cruiserweight division was a #1 Contendership fatal 4-way match won by Akira Tozawa in February.

Another Hint Finn Balor’s Demon Will Return At WrestleMania

In a short video uploaded after this week’s Monday Night RAW, another hint was dropped regarding who might be showing up at WrestleMania 35 to face Bobby Lashley: Finn Balor or The Demon.

This week’s episode of RAW saw Finn Balor defeat both Lashley and Jinder Mahal in a handicap matchup. This victory would secure an opportunity at Lashley’s Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 35.

Bobby Lashley’s manager, Lio Rush, uploaded a short clip to his Twitter account. The video features the two having a clash of words backstage. Lashley, angry over Finn’s win and new number one contender position, would lash out at Rush’s choice of partner for him that night.

Lio Rush would respond, saying: “Don’t do this right now, do not do this right now, you need to focus. You’ve got Finn at WrestleMania, that’s it. That’s the match. You versus Finn at WrestleMania. We’ve still got a couple of weeks until then, so the real question is: what do we do now? What do we do now, because the match is already set in stone.”

Lashley’s reply was to the point:

“I’m gonna beat the demon out of him.”

    Demon Balor

Earlier this month, WWE released a WrestleMania advertisement that actually featured Finn Balor in his demon attire. This would prompt fans to anticipate The Demon’s return at WrestleMania 35. This video from Rush just adds to the speculation that The Demon may return on April 7th.

  • Backstage News On Lio Rush’s Reputation

Backstage News On Lio Rush’s Reputation

At WWE’s Elimination Chamber event this past Sunday, Finn Balor would become crowned the new Intercontinental Champion. He emerged victorious despite wrestling a handicap match against former champion, Bobby Lashley, and Lio Rush.

Balor would pick up the win after getting the better of Lio Rush. This would then lead Bobby Lashley to attack his partner, seemingly ending their short-lived association.

Post-Elimination Chamber, PWInsider’s Mike Johnson would shed some light on their break up:

“It appears Lio Rush is done with Bobby Lashley,” he explained. “I can tell you behind the scenes there were not a lot of people surprised at that and not a lot of people surprised that Lio took the pin. There are times Lio has a reputation for rubbing people, including other workers, the wrong way. Whether that was being held against him and that was part of the reasoning for him losing or whether it was just a decision to protect Lashley and shift the belt to Finn Balor, I guess we’ll have to see based on how Lio is presented in the weeks and months to come.”

For those that missed this week’s Monday Night RAW, Lio Rush appeared on the show re-teaming with Bobby Lashley. This gave off the confusing impression that nothing had happened between them just the night before.

Cruiserweight Title Match Set For WWE Elimination Chamber

Another title match has been set for WWE’s upcoming Elimination Chamber PPV.

On this week’s edition of 205 Live, a fatal-four way elimination match was held in the main event to determine the number one contender for the Cruiserweight Championship.

The match involved Akira Tozawa, Humberto Carrillo, Lio Rush, and former Cruiserweight Champion Cedric Alexander.

Cedric first eliminated Lio Rush by pinfall via the Lumbar Check. Humberto got eliminated next when Tozawa pinned him after hitting the diving senton.

The winner and the number one contender came out to be Akira Tozawa when he eliminated Cedric Alexander last with another diving senton.

    Lynch Rips Rousey Promo

On this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW, Women’s Royal Rumble winner Becky Lynch confirmed her WrestleMania intentions. She will be challenging RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania 35. Lynch interrupted Rousey and Bayley after their RAW Women’s Title bout. However, it looks like a big change could be coming to that match.

Rousey struggled in her promo early on, as the crowd was giving her a hard time. WWE sent Bayley out early to begin their match. Afterward, Lynch came out and went face-to-face with “The Rowdy One.” They jawed off at one another before the segment came to an end. Earlier today (Tues. January 29, 2019) Rousey took to Instagram and issued out a message to Lynch:

“One big difference between me and you @beckylynchwwe – everything you said last night was fantasy make believe. And every word out of my mouth was a fact. ”

Lynch responded by taking a shot at Rousey’s botched promo:

“No, I believe you’re a killer, Ronnie. You were murdering that whole segment until The Man bailed you out.”

    Heyman Praises Lio Rush

Also on RAW this week, Lio Rush took shots at Universal Champion Brock Lesnar and Finn Balor, on behalf of his client, Intercontinental Champion Bobby Lashley. He followed up on Twitter by once again calling Lesnar and Balor out:

“Just so we’re clear…..Bobby > Brock on any given day. That little twerp Finn wouldn’t stand a chance in hell against

    https://twitter.com/itsLioRush/status/1090092056536469504

Heyman responded by praising Rush, saying he has a huge future ahead of him. However, he also pointed out that he spelled Lashley’s moniker wrong:

“I like . He has a huge future. Tremendous talent, super young, only going to get better and better and better. But if you’re going to call out on behalf of your client, at least spell your own client’s nickname correctly. IT’S ON YOUR SHIRT, LIO!”

    205 Live 11/14 Preview

Only only one match has been announced tonight’s 205 Live. Tonight’s episode will also be the go home show before the cruiserweight title match at Survivor Series between Mustafa Ali and Buddy Murphy, however. It’s likely there will be a segment involving champion and challenger tonight.

Tonight’s Raw is in Dallas, where Rush and Lashley planned to meet. While they didn’t go into specifics of what they might do tonight, it’s clear they plan on making some kind of impact on the show.

    Lio Rush on 205 Live

Lio Rush and Drake Maverick recently have been used as managers on Monday Night Raw. The belief backstage is that introducing more managers or “Hype men” could help talent who aren’t strong talkers.

Being Lashley’s manager hasn’t changed Rush’s status on 205 Live now. This week, the purple brand’s show will air Wednesday night instead of Tuesday after Smackdown. There still has been no official word, however, on when the show will tape, where it will tape, and/or if the name of the show will change now that it is not scheduled to air live.

Recently on Monday Night Raw, Lio Rush was revealed as Bobby Lashley’s new manager. Rush will still be competing on 205 Live, however. In fact, Rush will take on Noam Dar next Tuesday night.

The Scottish Supernova has been having some fun with Rush on Twitter this week but Rush has recently responded in kind.

Dar had been posting some defamatory words in regards to his upcoming opponent. At first, it was just Dar posting comments about Rush but then he began re-Tweeting insults from fans as well.

Dar then re-tweeted a few of the better insults from his followers.

“Lio Rush wears a helmet when it rains,” said one Tweet. “Lio Rush always says ‘oh it must be free’ when an item doesn’t scan at the cash register,” read another.

Even Rush’s bowling ability was fair game. “Lio Rush bowls with the bumpers up,” another Tweet read.

  • Update On Cruiserweights Being Used As Managers In WWE

Update On Cruiserweights Being Used As Managers In WWE

Fans who have been watching Monday Night Raw recently may have noticed something out of place. WWE hasn’t used managers much in recent years as Vince McMahon is said to not be a fan of the role.

205 Live General Manager Drake Maverick is now not only running the Cruiserweight division but also managing the Authors of Pain, however. Similarly, 205 Live’s Lio Rush cut a promo in the back yesterday hyping up his new client, Bobby Lashley.

This development has fans asking two questions: Is WWE in favor of using managers again? And if so, are they going to continue using cruiserweights in the role?

    Cruiserweights As Managers In WWE

According to a report from Fightful, the plan is to continue using some cruiserweights in this role. The report says that there is an effort backstage in WWE to add more managers to the product. Smaller cruiserweights who are good on the mic are seen as perfect for the role as well.

A contributing factor to cruiserweights being used on Raw as managers is that they are often only booked for a half a dozen events per month. Using the better talkers in the division as managers is a way of maximizing their investment in that talent. It is also a way of easing the company back into using managers without having to invest in a performer permanently in the role.

Rush has been paired with a larger partner previously in WWE. He was originally paired up with the gigantic Babatunde Aiyegbusi.

Rush will continue to compete on 205 Live, however, as he is scheduled to face Noam Dar next Tuesday night.

At Extreme Rules on Sunday, Nakamura defeated Jeff Hardy after a low blow and a quick Kinshasa. After the match, Randy Orton inexplicably came out and targetting Hardy. Was he trying to send a message to the champion? Or does he have some grudge against Hardy?

WWE is reporting that Jeff Hardy demanded his contractually obligated rematch tonight.

Will Team Hell No Bounce Back From Their Loss To The Bludgeon Brothers?

Before their match on Sunday, the Bludgeon Brothers attacked Team Hell No. Kane’s leg was in a brace and Daniel Bryan had to start the match alone.

    TJP demanded this rematch tonight.

    Lio Rush vs Akira Tozawa

Lio Rush has been chastizing Tozawa as of late. He showed up on commentary during a recent match of Tozawa’s and then after the match told him he wasn’t doing enough to be successful.

Lio Rush Reunites With Danielle Fishel Backstage At 205 Live (Video)

It’s easy to see why Lio Rush is so full of himself these days. He’s got Topanga (Danielle Fishel) from “Boy Meets World” as his biggest fan.

From 1993 to 2000, Danielle Fishel played the role of Topanga on the show “Boy Meets World.” She then reprised the role from 2014 to 2017 in the spin-off series, “Girl Meets World.”

Fishel is a huge wrestling fan. Her current favorite wrestler appears to be 205 Live’s, Lio Rush. She followed him in PWG as well.

That Topanga is a big wrestling fan is more or less impressive depending on what age group you fall into. WWE cameras caught last night’s backstage meeting between Rush and Fishel.

Fishel, who has attended PWG shows in Los Angeles in the past, was backstage at last night’s Smackdown and 205 Live shows from Ontario, California. Fishel has posed for pictures with Rush at PWG shows as well.

She was active on social media during Rush’s 205 Live debut.

Rush struggled to get one of his expensive bracelets off his wrist before his match last night could begin. Fishel commented that she should give Rush a costume bracelet as a gift.

    Lio Rush on 205 Live

Rush’s WWE career got off to an auspicious start late last year. The 23-year-old earned some heat for making an insensitive remark after Emma (Tenille Dashwood) was released. Perhaps as a result of this, Rush has been working a gimmick of a cocky, arrogant, young up-and-comer since being announced as heading to the cruiserweight division.

Rush has continued to engage in Twitter battles with his fellow WWE Superstars in 2018 as well. He’s been involved in back and forth social media arguments with Cedric Alexander and Ricochet.

Cedric Alexander Rips Lio Rush and Enzo Amore On Twitter

WWE Cruiserweight Champion, Cedric Alexander, recently took the time to put Lio Rush in his place on Twitter. He got in a shot at former Cruiserweight Champion, Enzo Amore, as well.

Rush earned himself some heat late last year after posting an insensitive remark concerning Emma following her WWE release. His upcoming debut in the cruiserweight division is currently being built up on episodes of 205 Live with a series of vignettes. Possibly in response to his reputation, Rush is being portrayed as an arrogant and entitled young prospect.

Rush and Alexander have been having a back and forth on Twitter recently.

Rush then seemed to acknowledge Alexander’s joke and laughed along with him.

    https://twitter.com/itsLioRush/status/1007462392719138816

The most significant comment was given by Alexander, who roasted both Rush and Enzo Amore in the same comment:

“This coming from the kid who wants to be a fake rapper. We had one of those on 205Live,” Alexander pointed out. “You wanna end up like him? I suggest you watch your mouth youngster.”

    Lio Rush in NXT

The 23-year-old Rush has been competing on the NXT live tours but has not wrestled much on NXT television since signing with the company last year. Rush has only had 2 single’s matches on WWE programming thus far and he lost both of them. He has lost to Lars Sullivan earlier this year and to the Velveteen Dream late last year.

    Cedric Alexander’s Cruiserweight Title Reign

Alexander is the 8th wrestler to wear the title and is currently defending the championship’s 10th reign. He’s held the title since WrestleMania 34 when he defeated Mustafa Ali in the finals of a tournament to declare a new champion. Since that time, he has successfully defended the title against Kalisto at the Greatest Royal Rumble and Buddy Murphy on 205 Live from May 29th, 2018.

  • Ricochet and Lio Rush Involved In Twitter Beef

Ricochet and Lio Rush Involved In Twitter Beef

Lio Rush is no stranger to Twitter. The recent 205 Live signee earned some heat from fans and co-workers last year after Tweeting that Emma was not “ready for Asuka” following her WWE release.

Now it seems Lio Rush is involved in another Twitter-related incident. This time, however, Lio is dealing with someone still on the roster.

The Twitter beef started after Rush posted the below Tweet:

    https://twitter.com/itsLioRush/status/1006277984691552257

Ricochet then declared shenanigans on the photo, claiming the car was not his.

    https://twitter.com/KingRicochet/status/1006280775359172608

Moose, from Impact Wrestling, decided to make it an inter-promotional war by pointing out Rush was standing in front of a 2006 Jaguar. Moose will face Eli Drake this week on Impact Wrestling. The winner will face Austin Aries for the title at Slammiversary.

Lio Rush and Ricochet Twitter Beef

Things then started to get personal as Rush took a shot at Ricochet’s in-ring style.

    https://twitter.com/itsLioRush/status/1006283110240178180

Ricochet then claimed Rush hasn’t been watching NXT. The show has recently featured Ricochet and the Velveteen Dream building to their match at NXT Takeover: Chicago II. While there has been mic work from both, Ricochet has also demonstrated some flips during the feud.

    https://twitter.com/KingRicochet/status/1006284795767328771

Rush then began to claim Ricochet’s in-ring style will shorten his career. He then said he’ll be going into the Hall of Fame and Ricochet can induct him when the time comes.

    https://twitter.com/itsLioRush/status/1006286298095775744

Ricochet then disputed Rush’s claims he will be going into the Hall of Fame someday.

    https://twitter.com/KingRicochet/status/1006290838618550274

Rush then answered back with, “Oh I guess you want me in that parking lot selling them snazzy snaz #Ricochet T-shirts with you right?” Rush Tweeted. “I’m good.”

Ricochet then quipped back, “You can go to @WWEShop and get my shirt, where can you get yours? Oh wait, you don’t have one.”

There has been speculation that Ricochet could be heading to 205 Live after an abbreviated stay in NXT. If that is the case, we could see Lio Rush vs Ricochet sooner rather than later.

    NXT Star Joining 205 Live

WWE announced during the latest episode of 205 Live that NXT Star Lio Rush will be making his main roster debut soon and joining the Cruiserweight Exclusive Show.

A vignette was aired announcing his impending arrival on 205 Live. In the video Rush talked about how he is planning the perfect attack on the brand and went on to claim that he is the best Cruiserweight in the World:

Lio Rush was signed by WWE back in July last year. He made his on screen debut for the company during the October 4rth episode of NXT and had been competing for the brand ever since.

    Miz Wrestles Again After SmackDown

Unlike past several weeks, this week’s episode of SmackDown Live had only one dark main event, which took place after the show went off air.

The dark match saw Daniel Bryan teaming up with the current United States Champion Jeff Hardy to take on the team of the former Intercontinental Champion The Miz and Big Cass.

The match was won by the faces to send the crowd home happy. It’s worth mentioning here that this was the second match of the night for the Miz as he had competed in a 6 Men Tag match against the New Day earlier in the night.

  • Lio Rush Comments On Heat From Emma Tweet

Lio Rush Comments On Heat From Emma Tweet

23-year-old NXT Superstar, Lio Rush, earned some criticism last year following the release of Australian Superstar, Emma, AKA Tenille Dashwood.

Emma had lost two consecutive losses in a row to Asuka before being released last October. Rush took to Twitter and offered an ill-timed comment on her release:

“I guess these are the things that happen when you’re not TRULY ready for @WWEAsuka” his Tweet read.

Several WWE Superstars were critical of his comments. Peyton Royce and Bray Wyatt both publicly responded to him.

Lio Rush Comments On Learning From Mistake

Rush spoke with ESPN recently about how the backlash to his comment affected him.

“It was definitely a difficult situation,” he said. “I’ve worked so hard and spent years trying to brand myself and to show the world that Lio Rush is a top prospect in the professional wrestling world. So it was a bit rough to see so many people turn on me for that, but I’ve owned up to my mistakes.

“I have said my apologies. What else can you do? You live, you make mistakes and you learn,” Rush continued. “I know a big thing that I tweeted out shortly after that — ‘a mistake shouldn’t be your attacker, it should be your teacher.’ I’ve definitely learned from that situation. I definitely have not let that situation change the pacing of me succeeding in anything.”

Rush competes mainly on the NXT live tour. So far, he’s only appeared on NXT programming twice. He’s lost to Lars Sullivan and the Velveteen Dream.

William Regal stated the following in regard to Rush’s comments about Emma last year:

“We all make mistakes. All the people who’ve had “heat” or problems, have I ever joined in with the pack on you? Perhaps a chat and a bit of guidance would be better. Being a Pro comes in many ways in and out of the ring.”

  • Report: Two NXT Stars Being Prepped For 205 Live

Report: Two NXT Stars Being Prepped For 205 Live

Two popular NXT stars may be going to 205 Live once their NXT runs are over.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter claims that WWE officials are looking to prep Ricochet and Lio Rush for 205 Live. Ricochet recently signed with WWE and is set for a major match at Takeover: New Orleans (more on that here). Rush hasn’t been booked to be a world beater, but the report says that higher ups are still high on the former indie standout.

205 Live has undergone a bit of a resurgence since reports surfaced claiming that Triple H has taken over the direction of the show. For months, 205 Live was seen as a lite version of Raw and SmackDown Live. The cruiserweights were involved in storylines that fans weren’t invested in. An example of this is Noam Darr’s relationship with Alicia Fox.

In recent episodes, the focus of the show has been catered more towards wrestling. WWE signed Rockstar Spud and repackaged him as Drake Maverick. He is portrayed as the 205 Live general manager. Maverick has been involved in segments where he tells the talent to get serious. Currently, the brand is in the midst of a tournament to determine a new cruiserweight champion.
