Rey Fenix: No-One Stays In A Place Where They Received Inhumane Treatment

Rey Fenix believes that no one should suffer from “inhumane treatment” as questions continue about his relationship with AEW. On X, Fenix made his point.

https://twitter.com/ReyFenixMx/status/1865514283037299154

When a fan said it was wrong that AEW isn’t using Fenix, the masked wrestler said there would come a time when he would speak the truth.

While Fenix did not reference AEW by name in his post, many fans in the comments saw the post as in reference to the All-Elite promotion. In August, it was reported that Fenix and Penta were expected to leave AEW, and when Fenix withdrew from an independent event, many saw it as a sign he’d already joined WWE.

Rey Fenix Teases New Chapter as Lucha Bros. Future Remains Uncertain

Fenix has been missing from AEW programming since the July 20, edition of AEW Collison. AEW has reportedly added injury time to his contract, keeping him with the promotion until 2025. Penta meanwhile has recently entered free agency.

While it’s unclear when, if ever, fans will see Rey Fenix in an AEW ring again, the former International Champion will appear for House of Glory later this month. Stay tuned to SEScoops for the latest on Rey Fenix as he is ready to tell all about the “inhumane treatment” he’s experienced.

Lucha Bros Set to Join WWE After Leaving AEW

Pentagon Jr. and Rey Fénix, the Lucha Bros, have signed multi-year WWE contracts, as first reported by Cory Hays. They’re expected to join the main roster soon.

Penta and Fénix are AEW originals, having been with the company since its inception in 2019. Over the years, they participated in some of the greatest matches in AEW history, both as a tag team and in singles competition. Together, they held the AEW World Tag Team Championships, the AEW World Trios Championships (alongside PAC as Death Triangle), and Fénix held the AEW International Championship.

Recent reports suggested that Pentagon and Fenix’s AEW contracts were nearing expiration. The wrestlers subsequently filed applications to trademark their ring names, a sign they were exploring opportunities beyond AEW.

This latest departure from All Elite Wrestling will undoubtedly shake up the tag division and creates a slew of fresh match-ups. The jump is a significant shift in their careers, as WWE’s global reach will bring their talents to the industry’s largest platform.

Stay tuned to SEScoops for further updates on the Lucha Bros’ transition to WWE, as well as information on other AEW contracts set to expire by the end of the year.

The Lucha Bros’ Best AEW Matches

Rey Fénix and Penta El Zero Miedo delivered numerous memorable matches during their time in AEW, showcasing their exceptional in-ring skills. Here are four of our favorites:

  1. The Young Bucks vs. The Lucha Brothers (Double or Nothing 2019)
  2. The Young Bucks vs. The Lucha Brothers (All Out 2021)
  3. The Lucha Brothers vs. FTR (Full Gear 2021)
  4. Death Triangle vs. The Elite (Escalera De La Muerte, January 11, 2023)

AEW All In London News: Scrapped Title Change, Time Constraints

More has come to light about plans for the recent AEW All In: London pay-per-view that ultimately didn’t make it to the show in Wembley Stadium.

Last weekend’s event saw The Young Bucks retain the AEW World Tag Team Championships against The Acclaimed and FTR. On Wrestling Observer Radio, it was reported that not only were the Lucha Bros. set to challenge for the titles in London, but they were originally planned to win the gold.

The Lucha Bros. haven’t competed for AEW as a team since the July 17, 2024, taping of AEW Rampage. Their absence from All In: London comes amid reports that the duo is wrapping up their time with AEW to jump to WWE. Their Death Triangle ally PAC won the AEW Trios titles in Wembley alongside Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta.

TNT Title Time Cut

Jack Perry retained the AEW TNT Championship at All In: London 2024 in a coffin match that went 10:40. The match was the second shortest bout on the main card, only being surpassed by Chris Jericho and HOOK’s FTW Championship battle which went 10:15.

The Observer adds that the TNT Championship match got several minutes cut off as the show had a strict 10 PM BST deadline. This explains why the pair went quickly into glass spots, rather than build up to such violent portions of the match. After the match, Sting made his first appearance since retiring to prevent Perry from setting Allin on fire.

Tony Khan Heaps Major Praise On Two AEW Tag Teams

Tony Khan is in awe of two top-tier AEW tag teams and their names likely won’t come as a surprise.

AEW has plenty of highly-regarded tag teams. There’s of course The Young Bucks, there is also Proud N’ Powerful, Men of the Year, Private Party, and many more.

For Khan, however, there are two AEW tag teams that he simply can’t take his eyes off of. They are the current AEW Tag Team Champions The Lucha Bros and FTR.

Lucha Bros & FTR Hailed As Two Tag Team Greats

Tony Khan appeared on Busted Open Radio and he gushed over Lucha Bros and FTR, who had a tag team title match on the Dec. 10 episode of Rampage.

“The world tag team championship match is one of the biggest things we’ve ever put on Rampage.”

Khan went on to praise both teams for being able to click despite having different in-ring styles and personalities.

“They’ve built a great rivalry and I really honestly believe those are two of the great tag teams in recent history. They obviously have very different styles. They represent different things in a different company but in this case, they’ve both come to AEW and worked their way to the top.”

Lucha Bros ended up defeating FTR to retain the AEW Tag Team Championships. FTR still holds the AAA World Tag Team Titles.

FTR wasted little time picking a fight following the loss. They were joined by Tully Blanchard in attacking Sting and Darby Allin backstage at Rampage.

AEW Title Match didn’t Finish as Planned at Full Gear

All Elite Wrestling Tag Team Champions The Lucha Bros successfully defended their championship against FTR at Full Gear. However, the match didn’t go as planned, according to Fightful Select.

AEW President Tony Khan shared after Full Gear that Dax Harwood received an injury. Fightful Select reports that Ray Fenix hurt Harwood ten minutes into the title match. The report also shares that AEW planned for Harwood to factor into the storyline that he was the legal man at the end of the match

“Fightful Select was told by AEW sources that Dax Harwood was either knocked out or nearly knocked out about ten minutes into the match by Rey Fenix and was sidelined for a good portion of the remainder of the match,” said the report.

Dax Harwood Injury at Full Gear

It is unclear what move caused the injury to Harwood. The report also shares that Fenix is known to work stiff and didn’t check up on Harwood after the match. Khan also didn’t share an update on Hardwood after the event.

“Rey Fenix has been known to work stiff in the past, and some talent on the roster took issue with him not checking up on Harwood after the match, said the report. It continues, “We’re told this wasn’t considered major heat, but the talent we spoke to said it was common courtesy to check-in.”

The injury to Harwood is unfortunate for FTR, as they have a history of dealing with injuries. On July 30th, Wheeler suffered an arm injury in a tag team match against Santana and Ortiz. The injury kept FTR from competing in AEW until they made their return on September 1st.

AEW didn’t advertise the team for this Wednesday episode of AEW Dynamite. AAA is promoting a AAA World Tag Team Championship match between the current champions FTR and the Lucha Bros. for December 4th. However, it is unclear if the team will have to take time off from wrestling.

Lucha Bros Retain Tag Team Titles At AEW Full Gear

FTR were the latest challengers to step up to take on AEW Tag Team Champions Lucha Bros.

This was the second match on the main card of the AEW Full Gear pay-per-view event in Minneapolis, MN at the Target Center. The champions had the early advantage. Lucha Bros did a double submission spot at one point. Fenix hit a double cutter on FTR. Fenix walked the top rope to do a head kick spot. Wheeler hit Fenix with a title belt for a near fall when the referee wasn’t looking.

These two teams previously shared the ring on the October 16th episode of Dynamite when Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood won the AAA Tag Team Championship from the Lucha Bros while being dressed as luchadores.

The storyline was that Andrade El Idolo paid Pinnacle leader MJF for their services so they could take the titles away from Penta El Zero M and Rey Fenix. Thus, FTR dressed up as unknown luchadores.

The Lucha Bros beat The Young Bucks to win the Tag Team Titles this past September inside of a Steel Cage at the AEW All Out pay-per-view event in Chicago, IL at the NOW Arena.

FTR to Attend AAA Taping with Vickie Guerrero as their Manager

AAA Tag Team Champions FTR will appear at the Lucha Libre AAA taping in Mexico without Tully Blanchard as their manager.

Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Meltzer reports that Vickie Guerrero will act as FTR’s manager on the November 4th AAA taping. It is unclear why Blanchard will not manage the team for the show.

Meltzer also shared that AAA wants FTR in a tag title match against The Lucha Bros and Dragon Lee & Dralistico. The promotion intends to have the match take place at Triplemania Regia On December 4th. However, AAA hasn’t confirmed the match will happen.

FTR Feud with the Lucha Bros.

FTR is in an ongoing feud with the AEW Tag Team Champions, the Lucha Bros. The rivalry started when Andrade El Idolo challenged the Lucha Bros. to defend the AAA Tag Team Championship against his “masked friends.” Idolo’s friends were FTR in disguise, and they defeated The Lucha Bros at AEW Dynamite on October 16th. On October 27th, The Lucha Bros. challenged the FTR to an AEW Tag Team title match at Full Gear on November 13th.

AEW Full Gear 2021 Card

Besides the AEW Tag Team Championship match, AEW announced two confirmed matches for the Full Gear card. The World Title Eliminator Tournament will also take place at Full Gear. However, it’s unclear who will be in the finals. AEW World Champion Kenny Omega will defend the title against Hangman Adam Page in the main event. Page earned the title opportunity after winning the Casino Battle Royal at AEW Dynamite on October 6th. The other match confirmed that AEW is advertising is Tayconti will challenge AEW Women’s Champion Britt Baker.

It’s unclear if FTR’s AAA Tag Team Championship will also be on the line in their match against the Lucha Bros at Full Gear. However, FTR will have the opportunity to claim both the AAA and AEW Tag Team Championship in two weeks.

Three Matches Added To AEW Grand Slam Rampage

Some more matches have been added to the upcoming AEW Grand Slam edition of Rampage.

AEW is making its way to Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York City. The promotion will be airing Dynamite live on Sept. 22. They will also be taping a special two-hour edition of Rampage.

Three more matches for the Rampage show have been revealed. Leading the pack in terms of the announcement is a Lights Out match featuring Jon Moxley & Eddie Kingston vs. Minori Suzuki & Lance Archer. An eight-man tag team match between Lucha Bros & Proud N Powerful vs. Private Party & The Butcher and The Blade has also been announced.

There will also be a singles match between Anna Jay and Penelope Ford.

Here’s a look at the final card for the AEW Grand Slam edition of Dynamite and Rampage.

Santana Talks Potential Feud Between Proud N Powerful & Lucha Bros

Santana of Proud N Powerful believes there is huge potential in a feud with Lucha Bros.

The Lucha Bros are the new AEW Tag Team Champions. They capture the gold against The Young Bucks inside a steel cage at All Out. The match was an instant classic and is already being regarded as one of the greatest tag team matches of all time.

Santana and Ortiz of Proud N Powerful have been gaining a ton of steam as of late. The team recently defeated FTR on an episode of Dynamite. Many are wondering when Proud N Powerful will capture AEW gold.

Appearing on Gettin’ Better with Ron Funches, Santana said he feels Proud N Powerful vs. Lucha Bros will be some of the best tag team matches ever.

“I see on Twitter, everyone is like, ‘when are ya’ll gonna get the tag titles?’ It’s awesome. It feels great. It’s one of those things where, we’re obviously doing something right if people want us to have that spotlight. Us and Lucha Bros, we had a feud in IMPACT for the tag titles and that feud pretty much caused us to have 24 or 25 matches around the world. We took that same match and did it all over the Indies in the States, we went to Canada, we went to Mexico, we went to England, we did it in Germany.

“We literally did that match all over the world. The chemistry is definitely there. We’ve always been like a family with each other. We all came up under Konnan and he’s a big mentor for us. When that time comes, best believe it’s going to be some of the best tag team matches anyone has ever seen. That’s not even being cocky, we have the proof.”

Lucha Bros Win AEW Tag Team Titles At All Out

AEW Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks made their latest title defense against the Lucha Bros at the AEW All Out pay-per-view event in Chicago, IL at the NOW Arena.

The steel cage match saw a chaotic pace. Various spots into the fence were done. Nick hit a cutter to Fenix then Matt hit a stunner off the top rope to Penta. Moments later, Fenix hit a double cutter to Matt. Moments later, Matt put on a shoe that had thumbtacks on the bottom of it so he could superkick Penta. Fenix with a crossbody off the top of the cage. Luchas hit a tag team move for the win.

This was a rematch from All Out 2019 where Penta and Fenix won by beating the Young Bucks in an Escalera De La Muerte ladder match for the AAA Tag Team Titles.

The Lucha Bros won the AEW World Tag title eliminator tournament on the August 27th edition of Rampage by beating Jurassic Express. Before that, Penta and Fenix beat Private Party in the opening round to advance to the finals.

The Young Bucks previously defended the titles on pay-per-view against Chris Jericho and MJF at the AEW Revolution event this past March and Jon Moxley and Eddie Kingston at Double or Nothing.

Last November, the Bucks won the tag team titles from FTR at the AEW Full Gear pay-per-view event last November.

Time will tell whether AEW continues this feud or goes in a different direction heading into Wednesday’s Dynamite.

SCU Crowned Inaugural AEW Tag Team Champions

AEW (All Elite Wrestling) has crowned their Tag Team Champions, which are SCU.

After weeks of building to this moment, the promotion held the finals of the Tag Team Title Tournament on Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite in Charleston, WV at the Charleston Coliseum on TNT.

SoCal Uncensored (Scorpio Sky and Frankie Kazarian) beat The Lucha Bros to win the titles. WWE Hall of Famers Rock & Roll Express presented the titles earlier in the night but were attacked.

https://twitter.com/AEWonTNT/status/1189723687542390784

This match was set up on last week’s show that saw SoCal Uncensored beat the Dark Order while Lucha Bros beat Private Party in the semi-finals of the tournament.

The Lucha Bros beat the Jurassic Express (Jungle Boy and Marko Stunt) in the first-round of the tournament earlier this month.

As of this writing, AEW has yet to announce when SCU will make their first title defense as the AEW Tag Team Champions. However, it could be coming soon.

The AEW Full Gear pay-per-view event will take place on Saturday, November 9th from the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, Maryland and has already sold out. They could make their first title defense at this show.

An announcement could come on next week’s episode of AEW Dynamite.

Lucha Brothers Retain AAA Tag Titles, LAX Debuts At AEW All Out

Lucha Brothers beat Young Bucks to retain the AAA Tag Team Titles.

The two teams met in a ladder match that was one of the best matches of the night at the All Out event from the Sears Centre in Chicago, IL that aired on pay-per-view.

Post-match, two masked men attacked Lucha Bros then Nick Jackson. LAX (Santana and Ortiz) was revealed as the masked men.

https://twitter.com/brlive/status/1167996095848275974
https://twitter.com/brlive/status/1167993784359108608

It appears that this was the blowoff of the feud as these teams have wrestled each other quite a bit over the past few months. That didn’t take away from them putting on one heck of a match that delivered.

Their first match came back at the Double or Nothing pay-per-view event back in May at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas that saw The Young Bucks defeat The Lucha Brothers.

This match got booked when Pentagon Jr. and Fenix defeated SCU at the AEW Fight for the Fallen event. The Lucha Brothers brought out a ladder after the match and challenged The Young Bucks to a ladder match at All Out.

What are your thoughts on Lucha Bros retaining the title? Was this the right call by AEW officials? Sound off in the comment section.

The Revival Troll Lucha Bros Over Best Tag Team In The World Claim

The Revival (Scott Dawson & Dash Wilder) have been known to it public that they think they’re the best tag team in the world.

Thus, when Pentagon Jr. of the Lucha Bros claimed that they’re the best tag team in the world in a photo shared on Twitter, both Wilder and Dawson had to respond.

The former WWE RAW Tag Team Champions weren’t the only ones to chime in as Nick Jackson and one half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Billie Kay gave emoji reactions.

Wilder stated in one of his responses that to make such a bold claim that the team actually has to make tags in a tag team match. Lucha Bros are known for having some wild matches with a quick pace while The Revival is seen as more of a throwback team.

Wilder thought the Lucha Bros are more of a “movez team” rather than a tag team. You can see the reactions here:

https://twitter.com/PENTAELZEROM/status/1158050875035639808
https://twitter.com/DashWilderWWE/status/1158409960335773696
https://twitter.com/ScottDawsonWWE/status/1158413540161740800

There is some history between the teams in WWE and AEW. Just last month, Dawson tweeted out a clip from earlier this year where The Revival talked about their accolades in the business.

Dawson would bring up how they’re better than several tag teams including The Young Bucks, Guerrillas of Destiny, and more.

https://twitter.com/MattJackson13/status/1147285368464654336

It’s been reported The Revival has not always been happy in WWE to the point where they have turned down big-money offers from WWE.

The Revival has also got people speculating that they could end up going to AEW once their contracts are up with WWE.

Lucha Bros Injured At AEW Double or Nothing

Pentagon and Fenix are said to be suffering injuries following AEW Double or Nothing last night. Lucha Libre promotion Lucha Empire was forced to cancel a scheduled event for today in Houston that was to feature the tag team. The promotion noted that Pentagon and Fenix were banged-up following Double or Nothing and not able to travel.

  • 6 Takeaways From AEW Double Or Nothing

The promotion posted the following to their social media accounts:

There is no word on the nature or extent of their injuries.

Lucha Bros AEW

The Lucha Bros are likely finishing up with Impact Wrestling and MLW in the near future. It was reported recently that they will be exclusive to AEW in the United States while still working with AAA in Mexico.

In Impact, Pentagon and Fenix dropped the tag titles back to Santana and Ortiz at the Rebellion PPV in Toronto. The Lucha Bros won and lost the AAA Tag team championships in short order at Rey de Reyes in March. The Young Bucks appeared unannounced shortly after Pentagon and Fenix won the titles which led to an impromptu match that the Bucks then won.

Lucha Bros Will Reportedly Be Exclusive To AEW In United States

All Elite Wrestling (AEW) has been making some big moves ahead of its first-ever pay-per-view (PPV) event next month, Double Or Nothing. The trend seems to be continuing. Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio reports that a deal is being worked out to have The Lucha Bros (Pentagon Jr. and Fenix) be exclusive to AEW in the United States.

The deal is being worked on between AEW and AAA, who want to have Lucha Bros exclusive to AEW in the U.S. while being exclusive to AAA in Mexico. This would mean that Lucha Bros’ time with other promotions such as IMPACT, MLW, CMLL, and others are coming to an end.

This makes sense given the pair dropped the IMPACT Tag Team Championships to LAX at last night’s (Sun. April 28, 2019) Rebellion PPV event. Now, Fenix and Pentagon prepare to defend their AAA Tag Team Titles against The Young Bucks at Double Or Nothing in Las Vegas on May 24.

The show will be taking place from the MGM Grand Garden Arena. It will feature other big names such as Kenny Omega, Chris Jericho, Cody Rhodes, and many more.

What do you think about the Lucha Bros being exclusive to AEW and AAA in their respective countries?

Young Bucks’ AAA Tag Titles Will Be On The Line At Double Or Nothing

The Young Bucks have announced that they will put the AAA tag team championships on the line when they face Pentagon and Fenix at Double or Nothing. They officially made their match at the PPV for the titles earlier today in Chicago at the C2E2 Comic and Entertainment Festival.

“Here’s a spoiler alert, we’re wrestling the Lucha Brothers and we’re going to kick their a$$,” Matt Jackson said.

“I’ll spoil something,” Nick Jackson added. “How about we put those AAA titles on the line?”

Along with Kenny Omega, they then agreed to officially make Lucha Bros vs Young Bucks for the AAA titles at Double or Nothing. The Bucks just defeated the Lucha Bros for those belts at AAA’s Rey de Reyes event.

Young Bucks Attack Lucha Bros At AAW Event (Video)

Matt and Nick Jackson got some revenge on Pentagon and Fenix last night. In the process, they also made a match between them official for AEW Double or Nothing.

The Lucha Bros attacked the Young Bucks at the recent AEW rally in Las Vegas but the Bucks repaid the favor last night at an AAW show in Chicago. It is the first time the Young Bucks had been back in Chicago since All In on September 1st.

The Lucha Bros were defending the AAW tag-team titles against LAX when the Bucks interfered.

The interference by the Bucks allowed LAX to secure the victory over Pentagon and Fenix and win the AAW tag-team championships.  The Bucks then challenged Pentagon and Fenix to a match at Double or Nothing and the Lucha Bros accepted.

AEW Double or Nothing Lineup

With the addition of the Lucha Bros vs the Young Bucks, the lineup for AEW Double or Nothing now looks like this:

  • Kenny Omega vs Chris Jericho
  • Hangman Page vs PAC
  • The Lucha Bros vs the Young Bucks
  • Britt Baker vs Nyla Rose vs Kylie Rae
  • SCU vs CIMA & 2 Partners from OWE
  • Cody vs. Mystery Opponent
  • Over Budget Battle Royal
    • Sonny Kiss
    • Brandon Cutler
    • Kip Sabian

AEW Double or Nothing takes place Saturday night, May 25th from Las Vegas NV at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

8 Takeaways From Impact Wrestling 2/22

Last night, Impact Wrestling presented their first show from their Las Vegas tapings held earlier this week. The show aired live on Twitch and Pursuit. The Lucha Bros faced LAX in the main event.

Here are 8 takeaways from Impact Wrestling 2/22:

Lucha Bros Defeated LAX – LAX Unmasked Lucha Bros

Pentagon Jr. and Fenix defeated LAX in what was supposed to be the final chapter of their rivalry. The 3-match series ends 2-1 in favor of the Lucha Bros.

After the match, Konnan congratulated the Lucha Bros and asked LAX to do the same. LAX was hesitant to do so but ultimately put out their hands to shake with their rivals. Perhaps remembering how LAX treated them after their first match, the Lucha Bros got up in LAX’s faces instead of shaking hands. LAX then attacked and would unmask both of the Lucha Bros, much to Konnan’s dismay. The show closed with LAX holding up Pentagon and Fenix’s masks.

Brian Cage & Johnny Impact Agree To Takeout Moose & Killer Kross

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3–BI4F2rd8

To kick things off last night, Johnny Impact announced he had defeated Cage, Kross, and Moose so he planned to move on to new competition. This didn’t sit well with Moose or Kross who both came out to confront Impact. A #1 contenders match between Moose and Kross was organized but resulted in a no-contest due to outside interference.

Later in the show, Impact presented Cage with a contract. The contract stated that if Cage helps Impact takeout Kross and Moose then Cage gets the next shot at his world title.

Tessa Blanchard Denied Title Match With Taya Valkyrie

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KiAuSpt9c1Q

We saw Tessa Blanchard in a backstage segment this week. She was storming out of management’s office, irate that she was denied another title match against Taya Valkyrie. Blanchard vowed she would get another shot at Taya one-way or another, however.

Later in the show, Blanchard would interrupt a match between Alisha Edwards and Delilah Doom and take out both Knockouts in an effort to make herself heard. Delilah Doom would later challenge Blanchard to a match next week.

A Dark War Is Coming

Rosemary has been haunting Dark Allie as of late. This week in a backstage segment, Father James Mitchell confronted Rosemary, claiming he is the one who owns Dark Allie. Rosemary asked Mitchell if they could cut a deal for Allie. Mitchell said he wants to bring Rosemary back to the underworld in exchange for Allie. Finally, the two sides decided to assemble their dark armies and battle it out in the ring. If Mitchell’s side wins, they get Rosemary. If Rosemary’s side win, she gets Allie.

Eddie Edwards Beats Eli Drake With A Wrestling Move

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULXcx7wQhYQ

Eddie Edwards didn’t need hardcore wrestling to beat Eli Drake. He attempted to use his kendo stick in the match but ultimately won with a roll-up pin on Drake, who had previously tried to use the kendo stick as well. Will this mark the return of the old Eddie Edwards?

Rich Swann Calls Sami Callihan “Family”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-XJ3ewVtZ4

Sami Callihan visited Rich Swann in the hospital this week. Callihan again tried to plead with Swann that Callihan is family and the only one really looking out for him. The nurses tried to get Callihan to leave, telling him only family is allowed to visit. Swann told the nurses that Callihan is family. Callihan then left an OVE shirt on Swann’s hospital bed as he left.

The Great Gama Singh Outsmoked The Rascalz

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4FU523INeQw

Impact Wrestling held their most recent tapings in Las Vegas. Then they head to Windsor in March followed by Toronto in April. What do all of these places have in common? Legal marijuana! While this should lead to the Rascalz advantage, they got outsmoked by the Great Gama Singh before their match with the Desi Hit Squad this week. Despite this, the Rascalz were still able to pull off the victory as they continue to rise up the rankings in Impact Wrestling.

A rubber match between the two teams seems likely.

Kiera Hogan pinned Allie again last night. Previously, Hogan pinned Allie in a tag-team action but this week Hogan got the win in one-on-one competition. Rosemary has been haunting Allie as of late and she appears rattled. When Su Yung disappeared from ringside, only leaving her mandible claw glove on the apron, the distraction was enough for Hogan to hit a fisherman suplex for the win.

Swann said in a promo recently, however, that all Sami wants from him is to be his 3rd guy watching his back. That’s not what family is according to Swann. This week Swann teamed up with Willie Mack and defeated the Crist Brothers. Next week, however, Sami Callihan has promised to reveal even more secrets about the X-Division Champion.

The Lucha Bros vs RVD & Sabu – United We Stand – April 4th, 2019

“Rob Van Dam and Sabu will face Pentagon Jr. and Fenix in a must see dream match!” an Impact press release for the match reads. “An instant classic if there ever was one! RVD and Sabu return to IMPACT Wrestling. We can’t wait for this tag team clash.”

The show starts at 11 PM from the Rahway Recreation Center in Rahway, New Jersey.

Last month, Impact Wrestling and Major League Wrestling announced they would work together to stagger their shows so fans would be able to attend both:

“Due to the New York curfew preventing us from starting at 11:00 p.m. ET, we have moved our live event to New Jersey,” stated Impact’s Scott D’Amore.

“We want to thank our partners at WrestlePro for facilitating this collaboration on April 4th and also thank House of Glory and stress that we couldn’t make this happen for our great fans without their cooperation.”

Update On Pentagon Jr & Fenix Contract Status With AEW

In Atlanta, this weekend, Pentagon Jr. and Fenix accepted the Young Bucks offer to come work for them in AEW. According to a recent report from Wrestling Observer Radio, however, the Lucha Bros are not free to commit to AEW on more than a per-match basis.

“They are on a per match deal with AEW because they cannot sign them because they are under contract with Lucha Underground,” Dave Meltzer said.

“They will have plenty of offers and make a lot of money,” Meltzer continued. “But it’s not happening until they get out of that Lucha Underground contract.”

The report continued to state that Pentagon and Fenix will still end up working with Impact Wrestling, however.

Lucha Underground Contract Situations

The only wrestling promotion with more people trying to leave it than WWE at the moment is Lucha Underground. Numerous talents have expressed frustrations recently with the terms of the contracts they signed with the company. Joey Ryan and Ivelisse have both stated the company told wrestlers they would be granted their releases if requested.

“I back Ivelisse 100% on this. Prior to S4, we were told anybody who requested a release would be granted one,” Joey Ryan Tweeted in response to Ivelisse saying she felt held hostage by the promotion. “Some did and left after the tapings. Others showed faith in the product and now seems are being punished for it. With no S5 in sight, it’s petty to keep anyone locked up.”

Rey Fenix Injured At CMLL Show

It was only a few months ago that the internet was rife with rumors and speculation over where the Lucha Bros. (Rey Fenix and Penatgon Jr.) would end up.

Unfortunately for Rey Fenix, it appears the answer for him is: at home, healing.

Taking to Instagram, Rey Fenix updated his fans on his current situation, explaining that he would be taking the rest of 2018 off in order to heal and rehab his body. The luchador suffered an unfortunate injury, straining his groin, at a recent CMLL event.

“Hello everyone. Today I don’t have a good news. Yesterday night, I wrestle one of the most important matches in CMLL #LaLeyendaDePlata. Like every match I wrestle my 100% excited and passionate. Unfortunately, last night I ended up with a muscular strain in my groin. Everything is good! Just the bad thing, I need cancel every show in December, I will keep every promoter and you guys informed abut my recovery. Thank you, everybody! Thank you for your messages and your love, I wish that people in attendance returned with a smile after the show. My apologies to all people who were waiting for me in their city soon.”

With a schedule that has seen him extensively travel the world throughout 2018, wrestling for promotions such as CMLL, AAA, MLW, Impact Wrestling, and Lucha Underground, Fenix has been on an undeniable run this year.

We wish Rey Fenix a speedy recovery and look forward to what he achieves come 2019.
