Details On Vince McMahon’s Plans For Mandy Rose

WWE Chairman Vince McMahon has some big plans in mind for Mandy Rose.

Pro Wrestling Sheet’s James McKenna is reporting McMahon believes that the SmackDown star would be a good fit for a character that was originally designed for now-former WWE star Emma.

If you recall, a repackage vignette was shown on Monday Night RAW for months in late 2016 teasing a “makeover of Emma to Emmalina.”

These videos would air and air, but she didn’t make her return until February of 2017. Yes, 17 weeks later, she was back. Fast forward to May, she suffered a shoulder injury at a live event in Liverpool, England. The character didn’t stick and Emma went back to her previous gimmick. Emma ended departing from WWE later in the year.

McMahon insisted Mandy Rose would be perfect for the character. He added that the entrance has the feel that WWE wanted with the Emmalina gimmick.

The pro wrestling journalist wrote the following on his official Twitter account:

“fun fact : when they figured out emma wasnt going to fit well for the emmalina bit vince was adamant that mandy rose would be a good fit for the gimmick. damned if that entrance doesnt have a feel like what they were going for with the emmalina character. #SDLive”

Sonya Deville Threatens Paige, Tommaso Ciampa Blocks WWE Network On Twitter

Sonya Deville Threatens Paige

On SmackDown Live last night, General Manager Paige barred Sonya Deville from ringside for Mandy Rose’s match against Becky Lynch. Deville revolted on Instagram by posting a picture of herself and Rose, asking who the hell Paige thinks she is for barring her from ringside.

Deville also warned “this isn’t over”:

Paige got to respond perfectly by saying “I’m your boss that’s who I am.”:

Mandy Rose Discusses Paige’s Criticisms On Tough Enough

WWE Superstar Mandy Rose was recently interviewed by former WWE ring announcer Lilian Garcia on her podcast, Chasing Glory, to talk about several professional wrestling topics. Rose first discussed being brought up to the main roster recently with Paige and Sonya Deville as part of Absolution:

“It’s been great. So far, I can’t complain,” Rose said. “Being brought in with Absolution and our mentor, Paige, I think it’s really cool, and really full circle since she was our judge on Tough Enough, and she hated me. She was rough with me, but I get it.”

Before being on Tough Enough, Rose had no prior in-ring experience and took a lot of criticism from people who believed she was simply seeking fame and had absolutely no passion for wrestling. Rose said she’s working hard to prove those doubters wrong:

“For me, it was one of those things where I get it where people can be rough with me because I didn’t come from a professional wrestling background or anything like that, and the way I am perceived sometimes as someone who is just a model and is in here for the fame, and I get that, but I don’t think people get that it isn’t the case,” she said.

“Everything I have achieved in my life I worked very hard for; I didn’t just wake up and say this was handed to me, so it kind of bothered me because I was very sensitive to that, but then I thought, you know what, it’ll be more rewarding for me in the end when I prove to everyone that I can be the person that I want to be.

“Besides that, it was fun, but I think it’s awesome that it was full circle, and with her debut back from surgery and the fact that Sonya and I were with her [during Tough Enough] it’s crazy.”

Rose initially needed to prove Paige’s original conceptions about her wrong, as she only believed Rose was just a model or ‘Diva.’ Rose said she didn’t take offense to the criticism she received from Paige because she understood she lacked experience:

“It was more of the fact that she would judge me that I didn’t know how to wrestle, which I didn’t know how to wrestle at that time because I came from a fitness background; I didn’t have any pro-wrestling experience. That was the biggest thing, and I think that I am very different than Paige,” Rose said.

“Paige brought a lot to the women’s division, as the ‘anti-Diva’ which is great, but I kind of come off as the Diva, which I want to change that, I’m not just a Diva of course, we’re called superstars, and maybe that was what it had to do with. We are very different, but Paige didn’t get to know me personally; she just knew me from the show, and I wasn’t the nicest on the show, which I get. I was playing a character, especially towards the end when I played the b***h.”

Mandy Rose Addresses Working With Paige After Butting Heads On Tough Enough

WWE RAW Superstar Mandy Rose has had an interesting road to the spot that she is currently in on the main roster of the sports entertainment company.

She appeared on Lilian Garcia’s Chasing Glory podcast to talk about various topics including the path that she had to take to get to the position that she is in now. Prior to signing with the WWE, she was a bodybuilder and model.

Moving along, Rose was a contestant in the sixth season of the WWE competition WWE Tough Enough, which began airing in June 2015. She placed second overall behind winners Sara Lee and Josh Bredl. After the series had concluded, it was revealed that Rose had signed a five-year contract with the sports entertainment company.

During her appearance on the podcast, she reflected on butting heads with Paige on Tough Enough

“It was more of the fact that she would judge me that I didn’t know how to wrestle, which I didn’t know how to wrestle at that time because I came from a fitness background; I didn’t have any pro-wrestling experience.”

Rose added, “That was the biggest thing, and I think that I am very different than Paige. Paige brought a lot to the women’s division, as the ‘anti-Diva’ which is great, but I kind of come off as the Diva, which I want to change that, I’m not just a Diva of course, we’re called superstars, and maybe that was what it had to do with. We are very different, but Paige didn’t get to know me personally; she just knew me from the show, and I wasn’t the nicest on the show, which I get. I was playing a character, especially towards the end when I played the b***h.”

Rose previously had no in-ring experience when she was a competitor on Tough Enough. Thus, there were some fans that believed she was someone who is simply seeking fame instead of someone who loves wrestling. However, that is not the case as Rose went on record by stating that she is working hard to prove those misconceptions about her are wrong.

On the November 20, 2017, episode of Raw, Rose joined Sonya Deville and Paige as they attacked Sasha Banks, Bayley, Mickie James and Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss. This officially marked her main roster debut.

“It’s been great. So far, I can’t complain. Being brought in with Absolution and our mentor, Paige, I think it’s really cool, and really full circle since she was our judge on Tough Enough, and she hated me. She was rough with me, but I get it.”

Alexa Bliss Not Happy With Raw Tag Match, 25th Anniversary Of Kerry Von Erich’s Death, Dana Warrior

– Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss is not happy with having to team with Absolution tomorrow night on Raw.

WWE announced earlier today that the Women’s Elimination Chamber Match participants will square off in a Six-Woman Tag Team Match this week on Raw as Bayley, Sasha Banks and Mickie James take on Bliss, Mandy Rose, and Sonya Deville. In this video from backstage at tonight’s WWE live event in Prescott, Arizona, Bliss expresses her displeasure with Raw General Manager Kurt Angle making her team with Rose and Deville.

She said, “Tomorrow, he’s making me tag with Absolution; two girls that I’m competing against. First off, how is that fair? It’s not. And second, how do I know they’re not going to try to take me out to get a competitive gain?”

– It was 25 years ago today when Kerry Von Erich, a one-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion and one-time WWF Intercontinental Champion, died.

On February 18, 1993, Von Erich committed suicide with a single gunshot to the heart with a .44 caliber pistol on his father’s ranch in Denton County, Texas. Earlier that week, a judge in Dallas issued an arrest warrant for Von Erich after he was charged with cocaine possession. Since he was on probation for a drug conviction in September 1992, this violation would have likely resulted in extensive jail time.

Kerry was the fourth of six brothers in his family to die in nine years and the fifth overall.

– According to PWInsider.com, the next series of classic content to be added to the WWE Network will be episodes of WWF All-Star Wrestling. The series will be added to the Vault section next month.

WWF All-Star Wrestling was a syndicated show that consisted of top-tier or mid-card talent defeating enhancement talent (jobbers) and at times a “feature” match between main WWF talent. The show ran from May 20, 1972, through August 31, 1986, at which point it was replaced by WWF Wrestling Challenge.

– The Tampa Bay Times has a story on Titus O’Neil wanting to inspire kids with Black Panther, the latest Marvel superhero movie set to hit theaters Feb. 16.

“I’m 40 years old and I’ve never seen a Marvel character that looked like me, as an African-American male,” O’Neil said.

“This will be the first time I’ve seen a superhero on screen that looks like me and I want kids to not only be able to see superheroes on the screen but also to view themselves as superheroes.

“If they see that on screen, then maybe they can be the next doctor or lawyer or president, whatever they can be. This could be a great teaching moment if we can get them into theaters.”

– WWE is teasing a romantic angle between new Mixed Match Challenge tandem Goldust and Mandy Rose. In this video, Goldust asks his partner out to dinner.

Mandy Rose And Sonya Deville Reveal How They Found Out They’d Be Going To The Main Roster

As we’ve noted, ESPN recently spoke to all five of the women recently called up from NXT to the WWE’s main roster to get their reactions to the news. Two of those women included Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville, who were moved to RAW and paired up with Paige to form the new Absolution faction.

Rose and Deville revealed how they found out they’d be moved to RAW, and discussed their reaction to realizing they’d been called up together. Here are the highlights:

Finding out they’d been called-up to RAW:

Deville:

“As the days unfolded, you hear rumors and you hear things flying around. You don’t wanna believe anything until it’s set in stone, because it’s the entertainment industry at the end of the day and things change. Come Monday, around 3:00, 3:30, I found out what I was doing. I think I’m still in disbelief. I don’t know if it’s really set in yet.”

Rose:

“I actually wasn’t in Houston for NXT, I was home in Orlando. I was ready to actually go home a little early for Thanksgiving, since we didn’t have any Florida shows. But I received the email that I’d be going to Raw and SmackDown, which was really exciting news, but I had to change all of the travel stuff. Was this going to be me just kind of showing my face, or just maybe… I really didn’t know what to think. I thought about all different scenarios.”

Getting called-up together:

Deville:

“I think one of the best parts about this entire journey is that me and Mandy got to share it together. We started together about two and a half years ago on Tough Enough, on the reality show where some odd thousand number of people tried out and me and Mandy were just two of those thousands applying for an opportunity to change our lives, never thinking it would come to this… We’ve tagged together in NXT, we fought each other in NXT — it’s just been this crazy roller coaster ride that I’ve gotten to take with my best friend. It’s the best possible scenario I could ever ask for.”

Rose:

“We hit it off from day one. I don’t know if it was because we were both from the Northeast, but we automatically became best friends. We were there for each other, and we’ve been there for each other ever since. We live together. We do everything together. We drive to shows and train together. Finding out that we were both debuting the same night, and moving to Raw together, it was just insane.”

Backstage News On Recent NXT Call Ups

One of the most exciting things coming out of WWE Programming this week was the surprise debut of five female NXT Stars on both Raw and SmackDown Live.

According to Pro Wrestling Sheet, it was Vince McMahon’s call to bring these five women to the main roster because the Boss felt that the Women’s Division on both the shows had gone stale.

McMahon made the decision shortly after Mae Young Classic wrapped up so we can say that their arrival was well planned and it wasn’t a last minute call.

Many believe that their debut is part of a long-term plan leading to a Women’s Royal Rumble match. While a Women’s Rumble could still take place, the site notes that currently, they haven’t heard anything about it.

For those who don’t know, Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville made their debut on Raw, led by a returning Paige this week and similarly Liv Morgan, Sarah Logan and Ruby Riot made their debut on SmackDown Live.

Sonya Deville & Mandy Rose: Info on Paige’s New Run-In Buddies

Last night on Raw, Paige returned and brought some backup with her. Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose made their Raw debut and made it clear they are working with Paige.

Here is some background info on Paige’s new run-in buddies:

Sonya Deville:

Contrary to popular belief, 24-year-old Sonya Deville actually does have an MMA background. She has a 2-1 amateur MMA record and trained out of the Systems Training Center in Hawthorne, CA.

She also hosted the show “UFC AfterBuzz” show on AfterBuzz.tv which currently hosts Sean Waltman’s podcast.

Deville also has several acting credits to her name, including producing her own movie “the Honour” in 2013. The description of the movie is as follows:

“Christian Conservative Sarah discovers her daughter Judith is gay and in love with a Muslim Neighbor. Sarah will do anything to save the immoral soul of her daughter.”

Deville was discovered by WWE in 2015’s version of Tough Enough.

Mandy Rose:

Rose was also discovered in the 2015 edition of Tough Enough but her pre-WWE career was spent in the world of fitness modeling. This was also the route Rose’s idol, Trish Stratus, took to the WWE.

Earlier this year, a photo of Mandy Rose spread online which made many fans consider her Trish’s doppelganger. Even Trish commented the photo had her fooled:

The 26-year-old’s real name is Amanda Saccomanno and she is from Westchester County, New York though she has relocated near the Performance Center in Orlando.

Rose and Deville actually tagged together in their first NXT match. It was a 6-person match and their other partner was Alexa Bliss, whom they beat up last night in the back.

Rose has two official tour victories for the World Bodybuilding Fitness and Fashion organization from events in 2014.

Neither Rose nor Deville competed on the independents before being signed to WWE.

– There was no dark main event after tonight’s RAW in Houston but The Miz did get put through a table by new WWE Intercontinental Champion Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose.

– As noted, tonight’s RAW also saw Paige make her return. She brought WWE NXT Superstars Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose with her and they beat down Sasha Banks, Bayley, Mickie James and later RAW Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss. Mandy and Sonya tweeted the following on their main roster debuts:

PHOTOS & VIDEOS: Paige Returns To RAW With NXT Superstars

Paige made her long-awaited WWE return on tonight’s RAW from Houston, interrupting a Fatal 4 Way to crown a new #1 contender to RAW Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss. The match featured Sasha Banks, Bayley, Mickie James and Alicia Fox but there was no finish.

Paige declared that she was back but she was not alone. She then walked to the ring as WWE NXT Superstars Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville hit the ring to attack the other female Superstars as Paige watched their main roster debuts. Paige joined in and took out Bayley with a RamPaige. Paige stood tall with Sonya and Mandy to end the segment.

Paige later was interviewed by Renee Young but Bliss interrupted her and said Paige doesn’t have to explain herself as the others got what they deserved. Bliss gave Mandy and Sonya props before dismissing Renee. Paige introduced Mandy and Sonya to Bliss before they triple teamed the champion and destroyed her backstage, leaving her laying.

Roman Reigns Goes Off On Atheist Fan, Mandy Rose Shuts Down Fan At NXT Live Event

– A few days ago on Twitter, WWE Superstar Roman Reigns took to Twitter to send out a prayer to those who would be affected by Hurricane Irma. A fan on Twitter responded in a rather rude way, mocking Reigns’ faith in a higher power, which prompted a savage response from “The Big Dog”:

– NXT star Mandy Rose saw a “Will You Marry Me?” sign out in the crowd intended for her during this past weekend’s live event from Toronto, where Rose called the fan up to the barricade before taking his sign and ripping it up. Rose played it off as if she was flattered by the sign at first, showing the sign to the crowd before destroying it to a plethora of boos:

Additional Notes On Release Of Tough Enough Season 6 Winner

As noted earlier, in a case of history repeating itself, WWE has released Tough Enough season 6 female winner Sara Lee from her contract in Friday, which was first reported by Ryan Satin at ProWrestlingSheet.com. Being that the Tough Enough season finale took place on August 25, 2015, Lee lasted just a month past the term of her initial one year, $250,000 contract. Male winner Josh Bredl (NXT’s Bronson Matthews) is still under contract for the time being, as well as female runner up Amanda Saccomanno (NXT’s Mandy Rose) and overall #11 Daria Berenato (NXT’s Daria).

While Lee had consistently done well in the viewer voting, Rose appeared to be the coaches’ pick, and if NXT bookings are any indication, Lee was not progressing as quickly as her peers. According to WrestlingData, Lee only had eight matches in NXT, all on Florida house shows, while Mandy Rose and Daria have had individual months where they had that many matches. Bredl/Matthews has had even less matches (five), but there are also more spots for the men.

The winner of Tough Enough’s fourth season (the one on SmackDown), MMA fighter Daniel Puder, was similarly cut after one year of being paid $250,000. He was progressing well and getting pushed on OVW (developmental TV) by then-booker Paul Heyman, but that apparently wasn’t taken into account. Puder is best known for catching Angle in a double wristlock/Kimura during an actual shoot match on SmackDown. Referee Jimmy Korderas was the only one to realize what was happening and counted a pinfall victory for Angle even though Puder had a shoulder up. Angle complained to Puder afterwards that it was supposed to be an amateur wrestling match, even though it had three count pins and he won his previous match with a neck crank, which is illegal in amateur wrestling.

NXT Preview For Tonight, Wrestler Returning From Injury, Alexa Bliss On Becky Lynch, Bin Wang

– Thursday’s NXT house show in Lakeland, FL will see Elias Samson return from the ankle injury he suffered back in the spring. That house show will also see Tian Bin (Bin Wang) make his NXT in-ring debut after making his official debut earlier this month at the main roster show in Shanghai, China.

– Speaking of NXT, the following matches were taped for tonight’s show:

*Ember Moon vs. Mandy Rose
*Lince Dorado vs. Hideo Itami
*Asuka vs. Liv Morgan
*Angelo Dawkins vs. Tye Dillinger
*The Authors of Pain, The Revival and others appear

– As seen on SmackDown last night, Alexa Bliss attacked her No Mercy opponent, SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch. This backstage video features Bliss ranting on Becky being such a loser. Bliss attacked Becky to make a point, so that Becky will know and believe that she is the loser that Bliss knows she is.

Shelton Benjamin Undergoes Surgery, Kelly Kelly Audition Video, Mandy Rose, More

– Shelton Benjamin underwent surgery on Wednesday to repair a torn rotator cuff. The injury prevented Benjamin from returning to WWE this summer and will keep him out of action for the remainder of 2016. The rotator cuff tear was discovered while he was undergoing his WWE medical evaluation.
