During a match between Big Show and Sheamus on Monday’s WWE Survivor Series “go-home” edition of RAW, which featured interference from Rusev and Mark Henry, Sheamus was “injured” and is now no longer part of “Team Cena” in the traditional elimination match main event for this Sunday’s pay-per-view.
This led to the main event “contract signing” between Team Cena and Team Authority. While no contracts were actually signed, all members of the now five-on-six elimination match for this Sunday’s WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view was announced.
Team Authority will feature Seth Rollins, Kane, Mark Henry, Rusev, Luke Harper and Cesaro.
Team Cena consists of John Cena, Big Show, Dolph Ziggler, Erick Rowan and Ryback.

– WWE legend “Macho Man” Randy Savage is featured on the latest edition of WWE’s “30 Second Fury,” which you can see below.
– Boxing legend “Marvelous” Marvin Hagler was backstage at the WWE live event in Milan, Italy this past weekend. Below is a photo of Hagler talking to Mark Henry backstage at the show.
When Rusev first appeared in the WWE, he resembled a cookie-cutter foreign heel. From the ominous entrance featuring images of Vladimir Putin to the valet with a suspect foreign accent, Rusev met every requirement on the “Generic Foreign Heel” checklist.
Despite the lack of originality in his character, the company continued to push him to the top, booking the Bulgarian in a number of squash matches, often featuring multiple opponents. Along the way, Rusev was able to elevate his status during a feud with Jack Swagger, and eventually captured the United States Championship from Sheamus.
During Rusev’s push to win the title, the unthinkable occurred: I actually started to enjoy this generic heel’s presence. At first, it was assumed that the interest was due to a lack of build for other programs on the card. After all, the WWE title had essentially vanished, the feuds at the top of the card were becoming a bit stale, and the Rusev/Swagger program was one of the few to receive significant attention.
Rusev struck gold after defeating Sheamus a few weeks back.
However, even after the Swagger feud ended, his work continued to interest me. So what is it about Rusev that generates interest? Perhaps most importantly, he is an admirable worker for a man of his size.
It was difficult to show off during his early matches, but he has excelled in recent weeks. His matches with Swagger a few months back were solid, and although he didn’t have a ton of chemistry with either Big Show or Mark Henry, his recent feud with Sheamus proved he can hold his own in the ring.
In addition to his agility in the ring, Rusev and Lana can actually cut a decent promo. Lana is of course going to be Rusev’s mouthpiece in most instances, but I don’t see many complaining, as she is articulate, charming, and knows how to get a heel over with the audience. In fact, I’ve even enjoyed Rusev’s promos in recent weeks, as it’s somewhat humorous to see him pick up the mic and talk a little smack.
As you might have picked up on, the top priority for WWE television this past week was to elevate Ryback back to the top-tier status he enjoyed prior to his lost to CM Punk at Hell in a Cell 2013.
Speaking of Ryback, he’s official for “Team Cena” at the upcoming WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view on November 23rd, as he joins team captain John Cena and team members Dolph Ziggler, Big Show and Sheamus.
On the other end of the match, which is a traditional ten-man elimination style match with the big Authority stipulation, is Seth Rollins, Kane, Mark Henry, Rusev and Luke Harper.
Dean Ambrose vs. Bray Wyatt and Nikki Bella vs. AJ Lee for the WWE Divas Championship are the only other two matches official for the show thus far.
As noted, Adam Rose vs. The Bunny in a Kickoff Show match and a WWE Tag-Team Championship four-way with Goldust & Stardust vs. The Usos vs. Los Matadores vs. The Miz and Damien Mizdow is also expected.
Survivor Series is less than two weeks away, and while three matches on the card are essentially set, much of the program is still unannounced. So, will the WWE work to build a pay-per-view that is solid from top to bottom, or are they simply throwing in the towel because this is a “free” event? Here is the card is expect to see on November 23rd in St. Louis.
Adam Rose vs. The Bunny
After attacking the Bunny last week on Raw, it appears these two legends of the squared circle will square off sooner rather than later. This pairing has kickoff show written all over it, as the company tries to get the crowd going with a “humorous” contest.
Gold & Stardust (Tag Team Champions) vs. The Miz & Damien Mizdow vs. Los Matadores vs. The Usos
Los Matadores have picked up a few victories over Gold & Stardust over the past few weeks, and the Miz and his stunt double have also feuded with the champs. Throw in the Usos to make an even number of teams, and you’ve got yourself an elimination tag team match for the straps.
During today’s edition of WWE RAW, which was taped this afternoon in Liverpool, England, most of the remaining members of both “Team Cena” and “Team Authority” were named for the upcoming WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view.
Official for “Team Cena” now are John Cena, Dolph Ziggler, Big Show, Jack Swagger and Sheamus.
Confirmed for “Team Authority” are Seth Rollins, Kane, Rusev and Mark Henry, leaving one spot remaining.

WWE Hall Of Famer Mick Foley recently posted the following blog on his official Facebook page:
USA, USA?
Maybe I’ve been too rough on Rusev. Not that I’ve ever said or written anything about him. But in my mind, I think he’s always going to suffer by comparison to The Iron Shiek – a classic anti-American heel who thrived on crowd heat, and was part of an all-time classic brawl with Sgt Slaughter in MSG that had a young Mick Foley on his feet, chanting USA, USA.
But last night, I think I finally “got” Rusev. He showed himself to be a very capable, believable big man – going head to head with Big Show in a hard-hitting, entertaining match. But I sure was bamboozled by the ending. Having Marc Henry hit the ring for the DQ and team up with Show to leave Rusev laying seemed odd and anti-climactic. It also seemed to be decidedly pro bullying, with two larger men ganging up on one smaller man.
I’ll be watching to see if this goes somewhere. Certainly, last night’s scenario lends itself to potential conflict between Show and Henry – and also leaves the door open for a different American hero to conquer the foreign menace…even though I still think Jack Swagger is the right man for the task.
The following are highlights of a new Miami Herald interview with Mark Henry:
On working with Rusev: “He is respectful. He is a really good listener. He is going to be a guy who holds true for the next 10 or 15 years. Hopefully, his body holds up, and he doesn’t have as many injuries as I did. I know what talent looks like and who has got it. Those are the people I want to work with and against. I’m happy to be able to say I had a hand in making some moments for him in his career.”
On NXT star Jason Jordan: “Jason Jordan is one of the ones who are next. He is very athletic. I’m hoping to see more of him in the near future. Athletic, smart, college graduate and understands you have to wait your turn. Ambitious. Not sitting back and collecting checks. I’m happy to know him and know the future is going to be bright.”
On wanting to be a WWE ambassador over a traveling producer when he retires: “I don’t want to be on the road like that because I have small kids. I would like to do more international marketing and urban outreach community involvement. I want to try to develop the brand internationally whenever we open new places abroad. I think that would be more where my skill set would be used better.”

The following are highlights of a new Newsday interview with Mark Henry:
On his his world heavyweight title run: “I was fed up with mediocrity. I wanted to show strength that most people are afraid to bring out. It was hard for me to come down from that. I would leave the arena completely exhausted — physically, mentally and emotionally. I’d make myself angry to the point that it was sickening. And I realized when I started doing that, that a lot of it was real frustration. I was tired of being trivialized. I was tired of being made the butt of the joke. I was going to retire. I was tired of it. And when I voiced that opinion, with that kind of anger, it was like, “Damn, if you’re going to be angry like that, then put it in the ring. Don’t just say it. Do it.” And that’s what happened. I started living it. And it was the best time of my career.”
On being a locker room leader: “Most definitely. You have to set an example for the future of the industry. I’m early to the arena. I’m late to leave. It’s business. I try my best to present myself with a level of respect in the locker room. I’ve never been a drinker or a smoker. I don’t cuss people out. I don’t show myself in a light where people will not respect me. I command respect. I make guys say, “Sir.” I say, “Sir,” even though they’re young guys. I want them to have a level of discipline that is expected more like by a father or your boss than as a contemporary or somebody that you work with. We’re businessmen. And you have to be able to come to work and put on a hard hat and work. If not, you’re bad for the people that come after you. So I set that example. I relish that role. I take it on full speed ahead, because I don’t want this business to suffer when I’m gone. And I will be gone soon. So these guys need to be able to uphold the standard that I was forced to do, and that I expect.”
On some of his locker room role models: “Ron Simmons is No. 1. He jumps right out as one of those people. Steven [William] Regal. I remember hearing Steven Regal cuss out a group of guys, whose names I’m not going to mention because they were A-list, top five-percent guys. It was like, “Pick your trash up! Your mama don’t live here! Grow up. It’s not a pig sty.” He just went off. And I was laughing my [expletive] off, because he was talking to them like children. And later on, I saw one of those guys go up to him and say, “Hey, Mr. Regal. I apologize. I’ll make sure that don’t happen again.” And I was like, “That’s what it’s all about.” It’s not about being a tyrant. It’s about making people change and making people respect the ground that they walk on, because this is important ground. It’s hallowed ground. And everybody who comes after us has to be able to set that standard. If not, then we are corrupting the business, and it’s going to be defunct in a decade.?”
– It was announced on Monday’s edition of WWE RAW that on this week’s edition of WWE Main Event, which airs Tuesday on the WWE Network, Mark Henry will go one-on-one with Bo Dallas. This is a rematch from Monday’s RAW, as Dallas upset Henry, leading to a backstage segment where “The World’s Strongest Man” beat up the man who “Bo-Lieves.”
– Below is the latest edition of WWE’s “Canvas 2 Canvas” web series, which features artwork focused on The Ultimate Warrior.
Night of Champions is only a few days away. Even though the WWE has been serving up plates of garbage on Raw for weeks now, many still have high hopes for this pay-per-view, as every title in the company will be defended.
With that said, here are my predictions for this Sunday’s Night of Champions pay-per-view, which in case you haven’t heard, can be viewed on the WWE Network for only $9.99 (or $12.99 if you’re afraid of commitment).
Nikki Bella vs. Paige (WWE Divas Champion) vs. AJ Lee
I don’t expect it to be a terrible contest, as two of the three competitors are great workers and Nikki isn’t the worst Diva fans have ever seen. In the end, I believe Nikki will capture the title with help from her sister, reuniting the Bella Twins and putting an end to their horrible feud.
Winner: Nikki Bella by pinfall
Sheamus (United States Champion) vs. Cesaro
This should be one of the more exciting contests of the night, but I unfortunately don’t see it being given a ton of time. Although Cesaro will put up a hell of a fight, Sheamus will retain after hitting a Brogue Kick, possibly setting up a feud with Rusev for the United States Championship in the near future.
The reason that WWE ran with the Mark Henry and Rusev segment in the main event slot of Monday’s RAW, despite being the “go-home” show for Sunday’s Night Of Champions pay-per-view, was to save the John Cena, Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman segment for earlier in the show.
Apparently it was Vince McMahon’s call to do so, as the feeling was WWE needed to put their best foot forward to counter NFL’s Monday Night Football game. This was also the reason that Cena and the RAW announcers kept referring to the fight taking place at “halftime.”
With new matches being officially announced on Monday’s “season premiere” of RAW in Baltimore, below is the latest official lineup for the WWE Night Of Champions pay-per-view, which takes place on Sunday, September 21, 2014.
WWE World Heavyweight Championship
– Brock Lesnar (c) vs. John Cena
WWE Intercontinental Championship
– Dolph Ziggler (c) vs. The Miz
WWE United States Championship
– Sheamus (c) vs. Cesaro
WWE Tag-Team Championship
– The Usos (c) vs. Goldust & Stardust
WWE Divas Championship
– Paige (c) vs. AJ Lee vs. Nikki Bella
– Rusev vs. Mark Henry

It was announced on Monday’s “season premiere” of WWE RAW that on next week’s show, which is the WWE Night Of Champions “go-home” edition of RAW, Brock Lesnar will return live.
Also announced on RAW in an excellent promo segment in the ring between John Cena and Paul Heyman, it was revealed by Cena that if Lesnar didn’t show up to RAW next week, that Cena would beat up Heyman. So, you can likely expect some sort of confrontation between Lesnar and Cena on the final RAW leading into their rematch at the Night Of Champions pay-per-view,.
Finally, it was announced on RAW that on this week’s edition of WWE SmackDown, an “International Arm-Wrestling Contest” will take place between Rusev and Mark Henry.
As things stand right now, the only matches officially set for the September 21st WWE Night Of Champions pay-per-view in Nashville, Tennessee are Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, Sheamus vs. Cesaro for the WWE United States Championship and Dolph Ziggler vs. The Miz for the WWE Intercontinental Championship.
According to reports, two additional matches that are all but confirmed are The Usos vs. Goldust and Stardust for the WWE Tag-Team Championships and Mark Henry vs. Rusev.
The plan right now for the WWE Divas Championship match on the card appears to be a four-way with Paige defending against AJ Lee, Nikki Bella and Brie Bella, as all four were linked together on all of WWE’s television shows this week.
Another match likely for the show, although it may not be a pay-per-view match, is Bo Dallas vs. Jack Swagger.
The key Superstars left without matches that are expected on the show are Chris Jericho (in his final match of his current run with WWE), Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan, Randy Orton, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns.
It appears WWE is going with a Reigns vs. Rollins match, so they may go with Jericho vs. Orton since the Jericho vs. Wyatt and Reigns vs. Orton matches are set for next week’s RAW to combat the season premiere of Monday Night Football. However, they could either way, with one final Jericho vs. Wyatt “blow-off” match, as well as another Reigns vs. Orton bout.
As noted in the past, the WWE Studios film “Lockdown,” which Dean Ambrose is off filming, is set to wrap up on the Saturday before Night Of Champions, so he could end up on the show if WWE chooses to go that route.
The WWE rolled through midwest tonight, as they set up shop in Des Moines, Iowa. This week’s card featured a total of eight matches, including a life changing six-man tag main event. It’s time to once again take the WWE to school, and I’ll be the one doling out the grades.
As always, matches will be graded based on usual factors such as workrate, in-ring psychology, move variety, crowd reaction, and overall impact on the storyline. Important in-ring promos will also be graded based on factors such as originality, believability, and importance. Without further ado, here is this week’s Raw report card.
Chris Jericho’s Highlight Reel
Tonight’s show started with Chris Jericho’s Highlight Reel, and featured a shitload of guests, including the Authority, John Cena, and Roman Reigns. There was some entertaining banter during the segment, including Triple H and Jericho hurling corny insults at one another as Jericho dissed Triple H’s pink tie, while the Game chose to attack Y2J’s scarf during a hilarious back and forth. Rollins was extremely over during the promo and got the biggest pop of the night in his home state. Cena threatening to sue the company was pretty lame, however, and held the promo back a bit. It was an overall decent segment, it set up the main event, and the crowd seemed to be into it.
Grade: B
Sheamus and Dolph Ziggler vs. Cesaro and the Miz
The first match of the night was a tag team match featuring the United States and Intercontinental Champions. The Miz showed up with his body double Damien Mizdow and a personal stylist, complete with chairs and makeup. Miz and Sandow were hilarious throughout the contest and the ending was solid. Ziggler and Cesaro also worked well together during the opening portion of the match, with Cesaro’s fall away slam into a pinning combination being one of the most impressive spots I’ve seen in a long time. Overall, it was an entertaining contest and was a good way to advance both feuds.
Campuses around the country are infested with returning college students this week. In honor of all the alcohol that will be consumed and the knowledge that will hopefully be absorbed, it’s time to take the WWE to school, and I’ll be the one doling out the grades.
Welcome to the first ever WWE Raw Report Card. Matches will be graded based on usual factors such as workrate, in-ring psychology, move variety, crowd reaction, and overall impact on the storyline. Important in-ring promos will also be graded based on factors such as originality, believability, and importance. Without further ado, here are this week’s grades.
Hall of Fame Forum
This week’s Raw started with a roundtable discussion regarding the upcoming rematch between John Cena and Brock Lesnar. First off, I never thought I’d see the day where Shawn Michaels was the worst dressed man in the ring, but his combination of cowboy hat, jacket, and Remington t-shirt didn’t do him any favors.
Overall, it was nice seeing the legends together, even if it did feel a bit scripted at times and offered little insight. One hilarious moment was when Michaels said everyone loves Cena, eliciting massive boos from the audience. Speaking of Cena, his promo was surprisingly compelling, and it was nice to see him own up to the beating he took at SummerSlam.
Grade: B-
Rusev vs. Jack Swagger
This was likely the last contest between Rusev and Swagger, and all I can say is, “Good riddance.” This match featured a lot of downtime that resulted in a poor workrate, and a lot of the match was spent outside of the ring with nothing going on.
The in-ring psychology was pretty good (Swagger sold the rib injury well) and the crowd was into it, so that raised the grade a bit, but it was ultimately a fitting ending to a rather pointless program that saw Swagger dominated at nearly every stage of the feud.
Grade: C
Rob Van Dam vs. Cesaro
This was a rather short match, but both superstars worked well together during the time they were given. One criticism is that the ending felt a bit rushed. One moment Cesaro was rolling outside of the ring to avoid the Five Star Frog Splash and only a few seconds later he was hitting the Neutralizer for the win in a sequence that felt a bit off.
The match also served its purpose by building a championship match between Cesaro and Sheamus – a program that looks like it could be entertaining with two of the company’s better workers.
– It was announced on this week’s edition of RAW that on Friday’s edition of WWE SmackDown, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan will take on Big Show and Mark Henry in tag-team action.
– Jeff Hardy: My Life, My Rules debuts this Wednesday on the WWE Network. Below is a video preview.
Last night’s Raw was held in Las Vegas, Nevada and featured a total of seven matches, including another classic between Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins.
Notably absent was former WWE World Heavyweight Champion John Cena, as he was recovering from injuries sustained at SummerSlam. Overall, a few questions were answered, but many still remain. Here are five questions that need to be answered following this week’s episode of Raw.
5. Can Big Show/Mark Henry Generate Interest?
The so-called “World’s Largest Team” has been running through the tag team division over the past week or so. The two giants once again teamed up this week on Raw, destroying Luke Harper and Erick Rowan in a relatively short contest.
Both of these guys have been largely absent over the past few months, so it’s good to see some sort of program, but can they generate interest as a tag team? With the Usos having beaten every team on the roster, it makes sense to find new challengers and I think Show/Henry against the Usos could make for a decent program. Obviously both teams are working as faces, so the best way to go about the feud could be to turn Show and Henry heel.
4. Should Swagger Be Given More Time to Speak?
Zeb Colter was notably absent last night after taking a kick from Rusev at SummerSlam. In his absence, Jack Swagger cut a surprisingly decent promo before his match with Cesaro.
Although Colter has served as Swagger’s mouthpiece for well over a year and the only words I’ve heard come out of Swagger’s mouth are “We the People,” I believe he should be given more time to speak. It would allow him to develop a non-robotic character, while also still receiving mentorship from one of the top managers in the business.
– WWE has yet to announce a SummerSlam “Kickoff Show” match, however their official previews claim there will be one. For what it’s worth, WWE United States Champion Sheamus and WWE Tag-Team Champions The Usos do not have matches on the show yet.
– Big Show and Mark Henry are featured on the latest edition of WWE’s “SmackDown Fallout,” which you can check out below.
The following matches were taped on Tuesday night in Seattle, Washington for tonight’s WWE SummerSlam “go-home” edition of SmackDown on SyFy:
– Dean Ambrose vs. Cesaro
– Dolph Ziggler vs. Titus O’Neil
– Mark Henry vs. Luke Harper
– Mark Henry & Big Show vs. Luke Harper & Erick Rowan
– A.J. Lee vs. Eva Marie non-title
– Jack Swagger vs. Bo Dallas
– Roman Reigns vs. The Miz

– The latest edition of “Who’s Next w/ Goldberg,” which features Bill Goldberg’s new interview with NASCAR star Dale Earnhardt Jr., is now available. The official description for the show reads as follows:
Who’s Next w/ Goldberg – Ep12 – Dale Earnhardt Jr & Wrestling Questions
“NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Jr. tells Goldberg who he trusts to work under his hood and what his favorite rides are. Then BG goes to the phones to answer your wrestling questions.”
The following are highlights of a new blog by WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross:
On the Mark Henry/Damien Sandow angle from RAW: “The Sandow/Mark Henry…OU vs. Texas bit in Austin, home of the Longhorns was neither entertaining nor did it have anything to do with Summer Slam. So why was it on the show? Was it a cheap shot at your’s truly? Surely not. JBL knocking my family’s BBQ products was a low blow but in the wrestling biz that it is called ribbing on the square and “all in good fun” which is a lame explanation. I did not see RAW live and watched it on our DVR but my twitter followers had alerted me of the announcers having fun at my expense or so they perceived. Perhaps some one actually thought the segment was entertaining and if that’s true that explains many things regarding today’s product.”
On the new Paul Heyman documentary: “The documentary aspect of the @HeymanHustle DVD is excellent….simply excellent. The video is now on sale and I can’t recommend it enough. For me to be included, along with the departed from WWE CM Punk, was a nice surprise and I feel that we both were able to contribute some to the production. Paul is in the same conversation as a manager as is Bobby Heenan which is rarified air as far as I’m concerned.”
On possibly doing some MMA work: “My agent is working on a play by play gig for me for a MMA event and let’s hope that gets done. I’m motivated and ready to stick my toe in the MMA waters and if I get the broadcast partner that I’ve requested then this broadcast could be a helluva lot of fun. Stay tuned.”
Editor’s Note: For the back-story with all of the details on Jim Ross potentially entering the world of MMA broadcasting, check out the following MMANews.com article: Jim Ross Says He’s Interested In Doing MMA Announcing
On WWE moving SmackDown tapings: “Someone with WWE told me that WWE was considering going back to the Super Show TV Taping concept where they do RAW live on Monday night and also tape Smackdown the same evening. That’s a load of work….more than a load….but it would save WWE tons of money by eliminating the Tuesday Tapings. Time will tell if this cost cutting move will actually happen but it’s a giant undertaking nonetheless.”
“If it does occur then it might be a timely move to split the announce teams on the two shows so that the announcers can all prepare for one show plus it would make the shows sound differently as they all sound pretty much the same including the PPV’s. @MichaelCole is carrying a mazing work load and it’s inevitable that this much over exposure will burn him out sooner than later. WWE can ill afford for that to occur. I’ve said it before, few people at TV work harder than Cole who runs the show at the announce desk during the busiest and most unique time for a broadcaster ever in WWE with so many masters to serve and to promote while the matches are on going.”
