WWE’s ‘WWE Universe’ Twitter account recently sent out a poll asking fans to rank the best of the best when it comes to the Crossface Chickenwing…Superstars included in the poll were Bob Backlund, Asuka, Cesaro and Dean Ambrose.
Several fans were quick to respond to the tweet with their chosen pick, Bullet Club’s Marty Scurll. ‘The Villain’ has utilised the Crossface Chickenwing for a number of years, the move has helped to define his villainous persona and has seen him win countless championships including the PROGRESS World Title and New Japan’s IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship.
The WWE fans were not the only ones to notice this glaring omission from the poll, Marty himself tweeted in acknowledgement to the effect of “wait…what?” Whilst there was never a chance that WWE would refer to someone contracted outside of the company this bodes extremely well for the UK star, his position in the Bullet Club stable has helped to establish him in the Junior ranks of New Japan and his unique style and persona has carved a niche for him in the territory, if WWE were unaware of ‘The Villain’ before this poll then they certainly should know who he is now.
These are your choices for the BEST of the BEST when it comes to the #CrossfaceChickenWing! Vote now to determine the all-time master on this #WAMWednesday…
Ring of Honor has officially announced the main event for their upcoming Honor Reigns Supreme event.
Earlier this week, the Baltimore based promotion revealed that Cody, Marty Scurll, and Adam Page are set to team up to take on Matt Taven, TK O’Ryan and Vinny Marseglia in a six-man tag team match.
ROH is scheduled to hold this event on Saturday, February 10th in Atlanta, Georgia at Center Stage. More matches will be announced for the event in the coming weeks.
– This past Thursday morning Marty Scurll dropped the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship to Will Ospreay in a Fatal Four-Way Match that also featured Hiromu Takahashi and KUSHIDA at Wrestle Kingdom 12. Scurll’s entrance featured mechanical wings, that Cody Rhodes said Scurll worked all day on backstage before the show. Cody took to Twitter to praise Scurll for his dedication:
This past Sunday’s NJPW Power Struggle event saw ‘The Villain’ Marty Scurll defeat Will Ospreay to be become the second ever British holder of the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship.
Scurll proclaimed before the bout that there are three guarantees in life: “death, taxes and Marty Scrull beats Will Ospreay.”
The Villain’s American home Ring of Honor touted his success at the event by issuing the following statement:
“Early Sunday morning in the United States, ROH star and Bullet Club member ‘The Villain’ Marty Scurll captured the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship from ‘The Aerial Assassin’ Will Ospreay at Power Struggle! This was the latest victory for Scurll in a feud that has spanned at least three continents!
Just as he did for the ROH World Television Championship, Scurll defeated Ospreay, surprising the ‘Aerial Assassin’ with a quick pin.”
Several other ROH stars were present at Power Struggle and you can read the full write up on rohwrestlng.com using the tweet below.
It looks as though the Bullet Club want some more Cease & Desist letters….
Marty Scurll, Kenny Omega and Chase Owens dressed up as part of a New Japan ‘Halloween Spectacular’ during a recent Road to Power Struggle event and…well you can see the video below for the full Aladdin themed entrance.
Former Ring of Honor World Television Champion Marty Scurll recently spoke with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated to talk about various topics. Here are the highlights:
Wanting Steve Austin to appear with him at Wrestle Kingdom 12 next year:
“I actually have a different wrestling legend in mind for my Wrestle Kingdom entrance,” said Scurll. “One that I have met on a podcast. One who likes to drink a little beer, raise a little hell. Put up the middle finger. But I don’t want to ruin any surprises. My lips are sealed.”
His next major goal: “More important than headlining the show is shocking the world,” said Scurll. “Giving the people something they would never forget. There’s always talk about Conor McGregor getting involved in wrestling, so why not ROH? Put him in the ring against ‘The Villain’ at Final Battle. Maybe have my pal ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin in my corner. These are the kind of things I want to do for this business. The possibilities for the future captivate me. There’s so much good stuff to come.”
Rev Pro has announced the latest blockbuster match as part of their Global Wars events. 2017 G1 Climax winner Tetsuya Naito will be taking on ‘The Villain’ Marty Scurll on November 9th at the world famous York Hall.
Other matches currently planned over the two days of shows are as follows:
Night 1
Yuji Nagata Vs Zack Gibson
Tomohiro Ishii vs Keith Lee
Night 2
Tomohiro Ishii Vs Dave Mastiff

New Japan legend Minoru Suzuki has also been announced for the two nights of actio
‘The Villain’ Marty Scurll captured the WCPW Title at last night’s WCPW Refuse to Lose PPV. What Culture Pro Wrestling will soon be rebranding and this event was the final under the WCPW banner.
Former WWE Superstar and new company GM Stu Bennett/Wade Bennett took to Twitter to congratulate the new and final WCPW Champion.
Former Ring of Honor World Television Champion Marty Scurll recently spoke with Channel Guide Magazine about various topics. Here are the highlights: When he found out he would be joining the Bullet Club: “I only knew a few weeks out. It was a natural fit with myself just about to debut for New Japan, and I had been spending a lot of time with the Young Bucks, who are two of my best friends in the business. I was nervous, but I also love new challenges. My mindset was how can I add to this group? How can I make it better? Rather than what can it do for me. I loved the angle we did for it. That was all down to myself, the Bucks and Kenny. We came up with it all. I wish every PPV we do could end on an amazing cliffhanger. We made Bullet Club the number one trend in the world for a short period. That’s bad ass. That’s what every PPV should aim to do.” Possibly signing with WWE: “Right now, I love what I’m doing. I want to conquer ROH and New Japan. I want to continue to push the boundaries and break the mold of what a wrestler without the machine behind them can do. There’s a group of us like minded in that sense, the Bucks, Kenny, Cody, Page etc. In terms of ‘The Villain’ and WWE, I’m pretty sure if they saw opportunity in me to make money, I’m sure they’d let me have a lot of creative freedom. But who knows if they do. I do see a lot of Villain shirts on their programming though. I would love to pick the brain of Vince McMahon. ‘The Villain’ and the ‘Evil Genius’ discussing the business over a steak dinner sounds divine.”
Former Ring of Honor World Television Champion Marty Scurll appeared on the latest episode of X-Pac 12360. Here are the highlights:
Bullet Club merchandise selling in Hot Topic:
“The stuff at Hot Topic has been going really well and every week our T-Shirts have been in the top five. But now it’s got to the point because we have our shirts in there (Hot Topic) and we are promoting and pushing these shirts (at events). Now we send our fans to Hot Topic looking for the Bullet Club shirts.”
What inspired him to do his Villain character:
“I used to organize kind of a big entrance you know like at Wrestlemania the guys would have different gimmicks for entrances. There was an album cover I saw one day with this plague doctor, and I thought it was cool. So I dressed up as a plague doctor, it was completely out of nowhere it was a lot of stuff I risked. It was the doctors I believe were used back then as the black plague, they would wear these make and a nose to cover up the smell. Dressing up as the plague doctor was only supposed to be a one-time thing.”
What’s next for him:
“I think in recent years to be successful in wrestling, and make tons of money. These days it’s a big part of me is to captivate and exhilarate an audience. – just trying to make wrestling fun again.”

Ring of Honor/New Japan and Bullet Club member Marty Scurll made some comments back in June of this year wherein he challenged former WWE star CM Punk.
Scurll said the following during an interview with Sam Roberts:
“CM Punk, I’d like to bring CM Punk out of retirement and wrestle him for sure. I don’t know if CM Punk listens to this show, but if he [does]…CM Punk, if you’re watching, come out of retirement. We can cause quite a bother of a wrestling match. What do you say? And that’d be fun, right? Yeah, that’s one for the headlines!”
Scurll has now added further fuel to the Punk fire by tweeting a Bullet Club concept t-shirt that hints quite heavily towards the ‘Best in the World.’ Check it out below and let us know what you think.

‘The Villain’ on the other hand has been touring the globe and has not featured on many UK based cards this year. The Bucks insinuate that Scurll has been with Bullet Club longer than what has been shown on television.
Bullet Club’s “Villain”
At the War of the Worlds PPV, Adam Cole lost a singles match to Hiroshi Tanahashi. After the match the Bucks came out and acted like they were going to super-kick Cole, but then 2-sweeted him instead.
The lights went out and Kenny Omega’s face appeared on the screen. Omega publicly fired Cole, and announced “the Villian” Marty Scurll as the newest member of Bullet Club. The lights went out again, Scurll was in the ring, and the Bucks super-kicked Cole, officially ending his time in the faction.
