EC3 said it’s someone with a legacy in the industry… A video recap was shown… Mathews was joined on commentary by “The Pope” D’Angelo Dinero…

Kurt Angle headed to the ring carrying the TNA Championship. Angle said EC3’s campaign for the title is coming to an end. He said he will finally be able to shut him up in one week. Angle asked for EC3 to bring out his mystery opponent.

EC3 and Tyrus walked onto the stage. EC3 said he is going to beat Angle next week. He spoke about how he is unbeaten and has beaten Bully Ray and everyone else he has faced. Angle said EC3 is obsessed with the TNA Title and himself. He asked how many hours a day he spends in front of a mirror.

Angle said a good ego is healthy, but EC3 has gone way too far and it’s going to bite him on the ass. Angle said Dixie Carter and Tyrus can’t help him anymore. Angle said he’s going to end EC3’s unbeaten streak by making him tap out. EC3 said he’ll never tap. EC3 introduced Matt Hardy as Angle’s opponent for later in the show…

Mathews said he didn’t believe Angle and Hardy had met in a singles match before. Mathews and Pope previewed the rest of the show… Low Ki made his entrance for the X Division Title match…

[Q2] 1. Low Ki vs. Grado vs. Tigre Uno in an elimination match for the vacant X Division Championship. Mathews pimped Dixie’s Twitter page. Low Ki was cleared from the ring early. Uno tried and failed to slam Grado, who then bodyslammed him. A short time later, Low Ki performed a double stomp of the top on Grado and pinned him to eliminate him from the match in 2:20.

Uno went on an offensive flurry and performed a corkscrew moonsault and pinned Low Ki in 5:05. Confetti fell into the ring. After the match, Christy Hemme entered the ring and asked Tigre how it felt to win the title. He said it’s the greatest night of his life…

Tigre Uno defeated Low Ki and Grado in an elimination match to win the X Division Title.

Backstage, Bram took control of an interview that Jeremy Borash was trying to conduct. He called out any former TNA star for a match. After Bram left the picture, a man put his gloved hand (or a woman with one massive gloved hand) on Borash’s shoulder. “It’s time,” Borash said… [C]

The Dollhouse hung out on their porn set. Taryn Terrell complained about Marti and Jade losing last week. They blamed each other.

[Q3] Taryn said the three of them would face Awesome Kong and Brooke on Sunday… Mathews pushed Slammiversary. He hyped Magnus vs. James Storm, Jessie Godderz vs. Robbie E, and then announced Lashley and Mr. Anderson vs. Tyrus and EC3 for the pay-per-view…

2. Angelina Love vs. Velvet Sky. Love cut a promo before the match and noted that it was Velvet’s one chance to earn her roster spot back. Velvet wore a Motley Crue shirt. In the end, Velvet kicked Sky and gave her the Stunner before pinning her. With the win, Velvet is back on the active roster…

Velvet Sky defeated Angelina Love in 5:15.

Backstage, Austin Aries and Bobby Roode wore “Dirty Heels” t-shirts. Aries said he thought back to his training and doesn’t recall anything about tables, ladders, and chairs. Aries said they found the formula to beating The Wolves in a standard match, but this match may play right into their hands. Roode noted that there are no rules and they can be as dirty as they want… [C]

[Q4] A vignette aired with talk of how someone must bring balance and it concluded with the line “playtime is over”…

Backstage, MVP was on the phone when the backstage interviewer brought up rumors running rampant. MVP asked if he’s one of those “pathetic leeches that call themselves journalists with inside scoops.” He said anyone who stood in front of Beat Down Clan has laid down in front of them. He said when you’re in a war you lose a few battles but you attack again. He said they are stronger than ever…

3. The Wolves vs. Austin Aries and Bobby Roode in a Full Metal Mayhem match. The Wolves had the early advantage until they went for suicide dives and ended up running into a ladder that Aries and Roode held up. [C]

[Q5] The Wolves came back with some crowd pleasing offense. Aries ended up catching Davey Richards in the Last Chancery, but Eddie Edwards broke it up with a trash can shot to Aries. Roode set up a table in the middle of the ring at 12:55. He picked up Edwards and then Aries performed a missile dropkick on Edwards and Roode powerbombed him in the same motion. Richards broke up the pin.

Aries dropkicked a ladder into Edwards. Richards caught Rood with a kick and had him pinned, but Aries broke it up. The Wolves put a trash can over the head of Aries and then slammed a chair over it. They went to opposite corners and both men dropkicked the trash can that was still over Aries’ head.

Edwards picked up Aries and Richards went to the ropes with a chair. Roode entered the the ring with a chair and took out Richards, then performed a low-blow on Edwards and pinned him…

Austin Aries and Bobby Roode beat The Wolves in 15:55 to even the best of five series at two wins each.

Backstage, Borash interviewed Matt Hardy, who said he was as surprised as anyone that EC3 picked him. Hardy noted that his son was born yesterday. He started to call EC3 a piece of shit, but EC3 interrupted him and said Hardy owes him one. Hardy asked EC3 what his legacy will be if Angle makes him tap out…

Mathews and Dinero spoke at ringside about the Angle vs. Hardy match. They shifted their focus to Bram calling out former members of the TNA roster. Pope started saying “what?” repeatedly while looking off-camera.

Jeff Jarrett and Karen Jarrett walked into the studio. Jarrett wore a Global Force Wrestling t-shirt. The Jarretts shook hands with the broadcast team. The fans chanted “welcome back.” Jarrett thanked them and asked if hell has frozen over.

Jarrett asked what the co-founders of GFW were doing in a TNA ring. He said he would address some points and not others. He said he got a text from TNA management last week saying they had a proposal. Jarrett said he didn’t initially reply, but then he got to wondering what they want.

Jarrett took the conference call. He said they told him they want him to come back and take the match. He said he nearly hung up the phone when they said that. “I don’t even wrestle in my own promotion, so why would I wrestle here,” he said. Then he said they told him it was the King of the Mountain match, which he created.

Jarrett said they told him it wasn’t just any episode of Impact, it’s the 13th Anniversary of the company that he and his father co-founded. Jarrett said he started thinking of all the great moments he had in the Impact Zone. He recalled Jim Cornette announcing that Kurt Angle was jumping to TNA. He recalled Samoa Joe and Angle going at it, and he brought up A.J. Styles.

Jarrett brought up Beer Money and said they became probably the best team the company ever produced. He said Eric Young has more TV shows than Ryan Seacrest. Jarrett said he had to really think about how the proposal affect the GFW roster and the staff that had dug deep over the last 14 months.

Jarrett teared up as he asked how Karen was going to react to it. Karen took the mic and said she loves Jeff. She said that when he hung up the phone with TNA, she thought what now. She said they had moved on and GFW is there future. Karen said her emotions took over and she told him not to call them back because they had moved on. She said Jeff laid it out for her and she started to understand.

[Q6] Karen said TNA is Jeff’s baby and he started it with his father. She said she still doesn’t completely understand why they are there, but she loves her husband and supports him in whatever he does in life.

Karen said that she cried her eyes out earlier in the day while they were talking with Sonjay Dutt because they had left it in the rearview mirror. Sonjay told her that Jeff didn’t get to go out the way he wanted to go out. Karen said Jeff didn’t get to leave the way he wanted and he was fired on a backstage pre-tape. Karen said Jeff is going to leave TNA on his terms and he’s going to make things right the way that he knows how to do it.

Jeff took the mic back and said fans can bank on this. The King of the Mountain is declaring himself in the match one last time. He said he will be walking the TNA aisle one last time and reign King of the Mountain. Jarrett mentioned Toby Keith and said he looked him in the eyes two days ago and told him that Jeff may not be as good as he was once was, but once he’s as good as he ever was. Jarrett’s music played and he and Karen left the ring…

4. Bram vs. Vader. Yes, Big Van Vader, who is the man who had his gloved hand on Borash earlier. Vader wore a t-shirt and jogging pants along with his usual mask. The mask came off at one point. Late in the match, Vader performed a Vader Bomb for a two count.

Bram rolled to ringside and grabbed a wrench, which he jabbed into the gut of Vader and then slammed over his head for the DQ. Matt Morgan hit the ring and no-sold shots that Bram took at him. Morgan performed a fallaway slam on Bram and then clotheslined him to the floor…

Vader beat Bram by DQ in 4:15.

[Q7] [C] 5. Eric Young vs. Chris Melendez. Late in the match, Melnedez threw a series of forearms at Young, who came back with a piledriver for the win…

Eric Young defeated Chris Melendez in 3:45.

The broadcast team hyped Kurt Angle vs. Matt Hardy for after the break… [C]

After the break, the members of The Rising stood up for pathetic leeches everywhere by brawling with the members of the Beat Down Clan. Hernandez showed up. “Who is he with?” Mathews asked. Hernandez showed his hatred for leeches and attacked the members of The Rising. Hernandez performed the Border Toss on Drew Galloway…

[Q8] Mathews hyped the Angle vs. EC3 match for Slammiversary… Ring entrances for the main event took place. Mathews congratulated Hardy and his wife Reby Sky on the birth of their son yesterday… [C]

6. Kurt Angle vs. Matt Hardy in a non-title match. Angle performed three German suplexes a few minutes into the match. He went for his finisher, but Hardy slipped away and performed the Side Effect for a two count. Hardy went for the Twist of Fate, but Angle fought him off and performed the Angle Slam for a two count at 4:00.

Angle applied the ankle lock, but Hardy rolled through and went back on the offensive. Hardy went for a moonsault off the top rope, but Angle moved. Hey, that’s Angle’s go to missed move! Anyway, Angle performed two more German suplexes. Hardy came back with the Side Effect for another two count.

Hardy performed two more Side Effects and got another two count. Hardy performed the Twist of Fate for a good near fall at 6:40. Angle came right back with the ankle lock. Hardy tapped out quickly.

Kurt Angle defeated Matt Hardy in a non-title match in 7:05.

After the match, EC3 and Tyrus hit the ring and went after Angle. Hardy fought off EC3, but Tyrus took out Hardy. Angle performed the Angle Slam on Tyrus, then locked EC3 in the ankle lock. EC3 tapped repeatedly until Angle released the hold and then EC3 rolled out of the ring to end the show…

Matt Hardy Talks About Reby Sky Coming To TNA, TNA Moving In The Right Direction

TNA star Matt Hardy recently spoke with the folks at the TNA Mecca website about a number of different topics. Below are some highlights from the interview.

On returning to TNA and teaming with his brother Jeff Hardy: “Thank you! It was extremely exciting to return, especially to team with my brother again and show the world that we were still great as a tag team. In 2011, I needed to take some time away, I had to. I needed time to heal my body, mind and soul after busting my ass for 14 years straight as a full time pro wrestler. I’ve really learned how to pace myself as I’ve gotten older, especially from the perspective of optimizing my physical health. That’s one of the main reasons that Impact Wrestling is such a great fit for me. My schedule with TNA allows to me to recuperate enough so that I can continue to perform at the level that I expect of myself and that the 2015 wrestling fans expect of me. It’s a great time for me to be part of TNA. I know I have lots to contribute to the TNA brand, especially when Jeff & I ultimately become TNA World Tag Team Champions.”

On TNA moving in the right direction: “I think TNA is moving in the right direction. I think they’re doing a good job of telling strong stories that allow for worthy payoffs in the ring, in the form of a great wrestling match. One thing I think TNA needs to remember when dealing with these fans is that often the shows are taped in advance & when that is the case, you don’t want to ‘spoil’ your own product. You have to be careful how you word things, as not to insult your fans.”

On the TNA tag team division: “I think the current TNA Tag Team Division is strong; they have a stout roster of tag teams. I think it would be nice if there were 2 or 3 more sets of exclusive tag teams in the division, meaning strictly tag team guys. I think The Wolves are great, The Dirty Heels are awesome, James Storm has an interesting thing going with The Revolution and The Bromans are underrated.”

On Reby Sky possibly coming to TNA: “First and foremost, Reby’s priority is to be the best mother possible to our son. I do know that Reby enjoys wrestling and she had a blast doing TNA’s One Night Only (Knockouts Knockdown) PPV last May. I would certainly think it’s a possibility if everything goes well at home and we have a pretty good grip on our family life. I imagine that you could see Reby on a TNA television screen again one day in the future.”

Jeff Hardy On Reuniting The Hardy Boys, Not Toning Down His In-Ring Style & More

Jeff Hardy recently spoke with the folks at Ring Rust Radio for an interview.

On whether he has any thoughts of toning down his in-ring style: “It’s always how I’m gonna be till I can’t do it anymore. It’s kinda of a day by day, match by match process with me. I’m pretty sure I know what my body is capable of doing and getting away with without getting seriously injured. That’s the main thing is to avoid that big, serious injury. I feel confident in whatever I come up with in my mind that I can pull it off. I always go for it unless someone shuts me down. As long as I am able to wrestle I will always be that Jeff Hardy style people know and love until I can’t.”

On how important it was to him to know that his cage match spot garnered mainstream attention: “It doesn’t even really matter to me. Matt is more the social media guy. He is the one that wants to get it everywhere. I’m kinda stand behind the evolution of it all. I don’t even tweet that much but I will tweet a picture after a match with my face paint and say thank you Orlando or wherever I am. That’s really all I do, I’m pretty much an anti-social when it comes to that. That stuff is more along Matt’s territory where he cares about all that stuff and I really don’t care about the impact it makes on others. I just care if it was a great match and if the story is good. This Friday on Impact at 9 p.m. on Destination America it is Hardy’s revenge. You gotta tune in to check it out, I get so much revenge on him you just won’t know what to do. It’s a great match, great show, and a flawless story. TNA is doing great right now and we’re just gonna keep climbing.”

On what winning the TNA Tag Titles would mean to him: “It’s all about the collection you know? It’s something to add to the collection and naturally as a pro-wrestler you want to every title you possibly can. From the lightweight championship, tag team championship, U.S. title, Intercontinental title, world heavyweight championship which is the metaphorical brass ring to grab they say. Naturally you want to win them all to add to your collection. To look back on your career and say that you did that, that is something Matt and I haven’t done yet. We have had some killer matches in TNA with the Wolves, Team 3D, and we are going to continue to have those matches until we win those World titles. It’s inevitable that we are and I am looking forward to it.”

On whether he and Matt view their reunion as an opportunity to help restore the importance tag team wrestling: “Kind of, yeah, I would think so. I was always a believer of tag team ranks could be just as important as the world championship and singles matches. I think we could see that down the road in some company where the world tag team titles are more important than the world heavyweight title. Back in the day when we were just the Hardy Boyz before we went our solo ways, we just went out there and had the greatest matches ever. We wanted to steal the show every night and I feel that way now with Matt every time we get together and have a match. I always want to mention the Young Bucks, cause we have wrestled them several times and it is a blast getting together with those guys. We always put together killer matches and tear it up…”

On whether younger wrestlers approach him for advice: “I never view myself as a leader. I compliment people when I see something I really like and tell them that was good, keep doing what you’re doing. That’s as much as advice as you will get out of me. Matt is more that trainer to help a young star be better. If he ever opens a school I might pop in and my big claim to fame is selling and how to take a good butt whooping. I never saw myself as a leader but Matt definitely is that guy.”

On becoming the first OMEGA Champion since 2000: “It’s extremely cool. To capitalize on that like Shane Helms the Hurricane has, all the power and weight behind those shows and everything it takes to pull those off. He was hanging at my house one weekend and we watched a show where the Hardy Boyz wrestled the Briscoe Brothers. Just from beginning to end it was such a good show and all I could say was wow. It was pay-per-view worthy and it was just a match at a high school. All the way through it was built and built until the main event perfectly. Now the possibilities are endless especially now that I have this alter ego Willow. Now when I have these crazy ideas I run them by Shane and he says, “Oh wow, yeah that is cool.” It’s a new day in pro-wrestling and with Omega we can and we will pull of anything. Down the road with Jeff Hardy and Willow you are going to see some really cool, I almost want to say magic-like and special setups for some alter ego Willow stuff going on with Omega.”

On whether there a different variation or completely new type of stipulation that you think fans would want to see in TNA: “Stipulation as in match wise? There’s always room for that. I have an idea but I haven’t pushed it yet. I asked the guy in TNA that does the ring work if there was a way to spin the ring like WCW did back in the Universal days. It would spin around so I got to thinking, and I asked if he could put a ring on a thing that would spin to make it go around and around, make it go faster and slow it down. A rotating match to pull off in the future, where you start the match and at a certain time it’s going to start to rotate and go faster and faster. If you could pull off spots while the ring is rotating would be awesome in itself. Anything is possible if people are willing to attempt to pull it off and get over the fear of trying. I’m willing to try anything.”

On Bryan Alvarez On The Ross Report: “Also Tuesday I will be talking to both Bryan Alvarez about the new version of the ‘Death of WCW’ book along with talking to Karl Anderson about the January 4, 2015 Tokyo Dome event that we will both be a part of on PPV. The show will @BryanAlvarez and @Machinegunka Karl Anderson will air in late December. If you check out the homepage of this site you can see all our podcast guests that I’ve booked through January 2015.”

On Wrestle Kingdom 9: “For all of you that are asking, I do not make the final decision on who I will be working with on January 4th in Tokyo at Wrestle Kingdom 9. Several of you have made some great suggestions on twitter @JRsBBQ. Whoever it will be will be the best person available and I don’t expect any on air “bickering” to interrupt the matches. The PPV is about the wrestlers and not about the announcing. The talents make the music and the announcers add the lyrics or that’s how I see it. I said that this might be the best, pure wrestling PPV show that I’ve ever broadcast based on what I’ve seen online in my prep work. That question will be better addressed after January 4. I have high expectations for both the in ring product and my work describing it.”

  • Matt Hardy Talks About TNA’s “Very Bad Reputation,” Teaming With Jeff Again

Matt Hardy spoke with Brian Fritz of BetweenTheRopes.com this week about this stage of his career, why he thinks he’s better than even before, life after the WWE and why this past year has been so much fun for him. Plus he talks about teaming with Jeff again, being back in the ring against Team 3D in over a decade and still working in TLC matches. He also gets into the the current tag team landscape in wrestling, working against the Briscoes and the Young Bucks, TNA going forward, his goal of working behind the scenes in creative for a promotion, working for Maryland Championship Wrestling and losing his title following a low blow from former WWE creative team member Kevin Eck along with his thoughts on the WWE and what he thinks is missing right now.

Here are some excerpts from the interview:

On having more fun in the business now:

“This is the most fun I’ve had in wrestling because there’s no pressure, there’s no stress. And I’m not afraid to tell people no. If someone says “we want you to do this” and I’ll go that’s OK, I’m not interested. There’s people that contact me all the time with decent offers and I’ll go I’m not interested. I really am my own boss and it’s nice. I know there’s guys I talk to here and there with WWE and sometimes I hear about the stresses or the pressures or I even think about when (CM) Punk left or the deal when (Alberto) Del Rio left. I was like man, it can be such a pressure cooker there, so stressful. Trust me, I know there’s no power like their TV and it’s great to perform in front of those audiences and just be a part of that WWE machine but there’s just such a stress and there’s such a pressure that comes with it and there’s so much politics. Now, I do some really cool stuff. It’s not as glamorous as being in the WWE, but the fact of the matter is I’m having fun and I’m still being able to do what was my dream as a child and that’s be aprofessional wrestler. And I’m still making fantastic money. I have no complaints on that end.”

On TNA having better TV lately but having to overcome their bad reputation:

“You’re right, they do have a very bad reputation. I can tell you this too — I pride myself on being a good ambassador for whoever I’m working for currently right now. I’ve done things where I’ve been bitter or hurt or angry and been negative. Man, I’ve learned to just stray away, turn completely away from that stuff because anything that is negative is just corrosive. It’s ultimately bad for you. So when I was with Ring of Honor, I knew I had some good stuff coming up on TV or the stuff I was doing with Adam Cole or other stuff it was easy to endorse that and people were like “oh my God, that’s cool, I’ll check Ring of Honor out”. I have a huge chunk of that WWE fan base that watched me for those 12, 13 years who would say “OK cool, I’ll check out this Ring of Honor”. With TNA now, it’s still hard to convince some people. There are people who have tuned in to see the Hardy’s and they’re like I love these matches that you’re having, but it is an uphill battle to try and convince people that this place is going to be different. I can’t really say that it is in the long term. They’ve tried hard and my relationship with them has bene great. As I’ve said before, I’m not under contract with them. I have a great more or less handshake, verbal deal, relationship with them right now where I do their big stuff. I told them to keep me in the loop going forward and I’m totally cool with working with them. I hope they really do have their head screwed on straight and I hope they try and give wrestling fans and the wrestling industry the best product possible and do a smart, no nonsense product and do their own thing but really stay true to the wrestling in the ring.”

    On teaming with Jeff again:

“Yeah, I think as long as we’re both doing this stuff — I feel like Terry Funk now, we’re the old guys still going and doing crazy stuff. As long as Jeff and I are actively wrestling, I’m sure there will be a point where we team. People always love stuff we do when we’re together. Jeff is amazing as a singles star on his own. He’s unbelievably great. He’s better now that he’s even been from a psychology and story-telling standpoint, no doubt. And I have a pretty good grasp on who I am but it’s always just magic when we’re together. There’s something special about when we’re together and fans love it. There’s that nostalgia effect that people get into. Man, these are two guys who started as enhancement talent, doing jobs for the big stars who pursued their dreams and they stuck together and they made it. Then they innovated all these crazy ladder and table matches and took them to a whole new level. People love seeing that success story come back together and they always will.”
