Matt Hardy Not Backstage At SD, Reportedly “On Very Thin Ice”

Matt Hardy is not backstage at today’s SmackDown television taping in Detroit, Michigan. He was sent home by World Wrestling Entertainment officials after an incident backstage during Saturday’s SmackDown live event in Minehead, England.

Regarding the possibility of WWE cutting ties with Hardy altogether, our WWE source says Hardy is on” very thin ice.”

It is said that Hardy’s saving grace from termination was WWE’s fear of a Hardy Boys revival in rival promotion TNA Wrestling, but after Saturday’s backstage incident weekend and subsequent video blog, the feeling is that they don’t care much about keeping him under their auspices anymore.

Despite Hardy’s claim that he wasn’t taken off the road, a company spokesman confirmed the story to Newsday today.

WWE Confirms Matt Hardy Pulled From Live Events

To follow up on the “Was he or wasn’t he” reports that Matt Hardy was “sent home” from WWE’s latest European tour, WWE has confirmed to Newsday.com that Hardy WAS in fact sent home from two recent live events.

After news broke that Hardy’s behavior and mental state were alarming WWE officials to the point where he was not allowed to perform on scheduled shows, Hardy posted yet another cooky video online saying he was fine. Hardy argued that he was recording the video from his hotel room in Great Britain – so how could he have been ‘sent home’ from the tour?

In any event, WWE has now confirmed that Hardy was sent home, without elaborating as to why.

Here’s the video Matt Hardy posted over the weekend:

He did not offer a response to that portion of the report. Additionally, in his video he blamed “a stooging punk” for the story hitting the net.

In regard to his health, Hardy said he has never felt better. He claimed to have dropped over twenty pounds since changing his diet to eliminate red meat. Apparently, he managed to drop seven additional pounds during the international tour as he wrote on Twitter Thursday night that he was planning a YouTube entry concerning his recent health breakthroughs as he had dropped thirteen pounds at the time.

“Definitely gonna do a YT entry soon about my recent health breakthroughs concerning my digestive process,” Hardy wrote. “In 3 weeks, I’ve dropped 13 lbs.”

This comes on the heels of an incident at last Sunday’s SmackDown live event in White Plains, New York where he was scheduled to team with R-Truth against Luke Gallows and CM Punk. Company sources indicate there was concern over his condition that day too. It is said that Hardy left the building after officials spoke to him and never returned for his match.

Bottom line is that the WWE Hall of Famer will be fine after a few scary moments.”

Ross added on Twitter that Slaughter had a minor intestinal problem and will be fine.

— As seen on Friday’s episode of SmackDown, Cody Rhodes prefaced his match with Matt Hardy by verbally trashing the physical make-up of his impending opponent. During the bout, color commentator Matt Striker defended Hardy by saying can’t work out at the gym due to several injuries. Meanwhile, Hardy said on Twitter that the past several months have been frustrating for him, but now feels he has his “new” body figured out as it relates to dieting.

“After 8 months of having irregular digestion because of my intestinal issues, it’s been a uphill battle to find out what works for my body. It’s been frustrating cuz I train hard & haven’t gotten the same results I used to. But I think I’ve finally got my “new” body figured out,” Hardy wrote.

“Without going into long, boring details.. I think I know what “healthy” foods I can’t eat cuz my body & intestines can’t break them down. It’s been a tough, annoying, aggravating gig-esp when ur on TV every week & have my work ethic-but it’s finally working. Luv my true peeps!”

He then added:

“As far as ‘kayfabing’ people, I’ve never done anything intentionally 2 insult my fans-I just try to make things unpredictable & real for u. IMO, that’s how pro wrestling should be.. Unpredictable & full of suspense-I try & keep that in mind. Cuz as a fan, that’s what I want. For the record, I’m not ‘quitting’, I don’t have my head down & I’m as optimistic as ever-but sometimes, u gotta just say what’s on ur mind.”
