Moose Interrupts Tommy Dreamer & Rich Swann Contract Signing

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jL1Rs8ieI1s

Moose is upset that Tommy Dreamer is getting the title shot at No Surrender. Swann chose Dreamer as his opponent as the event takes place on Dreamer’s 50th Birthday. He came out to confront Swann and Dreamer but D’Amore told him he’ll be suspended if he interferes at No Surrender. Moose said he’s the real world champion, but Swann disagreed. Dreamer then cut a passionate promo about how he doesn’t wrestle for money, he wrestles because he loves this business and there is a locker room full of “Dreamers” in the back and he wants to use his platform for good.

“Being the Impact Champion gives me a larger platform,” Dreamer said.

“I want to spread good throughout this world. For 3 hours, I want people to forget about all the crap in this world. Rich, it’s going to be an honor to tear it up with you.”

Dreamer then signed the contract to bring the segment to a close.

Matt Hardy & Private Party Ruin Tag Title Match, Storm & Sabin Added To No Surrender Tag Title Match

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gEYe55n2uOI

Matt Hardy and Private Party appeared on the stage during the tag title match this week. Just as Sabin and Storm seemed to have the advantage in the match, Private Party attacked. Upset that Sabin and Storm were getting a tag title shot before theirs at No Surrender, the idea was to get the match thrown out.

After the match, Hardy told Private Party he was proud of them. He said he’ll give them a bonus if they win the tag titles on Saturday as well. Scott D’Amore then confronted the 3 of them. He said to keep Storm and Sabin from interfering in the match at No Surrender, he’ll put them in the match. So it will be Private Party vs The Good Brothers vs James Storm & Chris Sabin on Saturday.

Tony Khan Talks About Opening Wrestling’s “Forbidden Door”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxBvL88SkR4

Tony Khan and Tony Schiavone were back this week. Khan talked about how he is actually the forbidden door and he realized that when he came to Impact Wrestling.

“I just had to open myself, and that comes from being here with you IMPACT Wrestling! Doing these paid ads, I’ve learned so much about myself. I’ve opened myself up to new experiences, and look at all the great things that have happened. We did a great rating for Dynamite this week with IMPACT people there. We had people from New Japan, who knows who is going to be there next week?”

Sami Callihan Sends A Message To Trey Miguel

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBwizXPNeug

Trey Miguel picked up the win for his team in 8-man tag-team action to kick off the show this week. He debuted a new submission move and got the tapout from Blake Christian in the match. After the match, the lights flicked off and Sami Callihan appeared on the big screen. Last week, Callihan said that Miguel has no loyalty and that’s why the other Rascalz aren’t with him anymore. This week, he said that while Miguel seems to have momentum, he will eventually flake out again. It seems we are building to a big singles match between the two.

Kimber Lee Picks Up Win Over ODB Thanks To Susan & Deonna Purrazzo

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=veHc9MGM1a4

Despite being heavily outmatched in some areas of this match, Kimber Lee picked up the win over ODB this week. The finish of the match came not long after Susan attempted to distract the referee, perhaps to point out some perceived offense that took place. This brought out Jordynne Grace and Jazz from the back who then got into a melee with Purrazzo and Susan. ODB came off the top and took out both the Knockouts Champ and the woman who frequently wants to see a manager. When ODB came back into the ring, however, Kimber Lee rolled her up and got the 3-count.

After the match, Susan said that “someone needs to talk to their manager” about this, and so she went to Scott D’Amore to organize a 6-person match between the two sides.

Jake Something Turns Down Violent By Design

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cKtJLql_8vo

Eric Young’s Violent By Design stable offered Cody Deaner’s Cousin Jake a spot in the faction. Jake turned down the group this week, however. This led to VOD attacking Jake and wrapping a chair around his neck. Deaner told Young that he wants to fight Jake and so instead of attacking him now, Young announced that Deaner will face Jake at No Surrender on Saturday.

Neveah Picks Up Win Over Kiera Hogan Via DQ

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1wys1fAif7I

A fine example of refereeing was exhibited by Brandon Tolle during this match. Tolle was briefly distracted by Havok on the outside and this led Tasha Steelz to feel it was a safe time to interfere. She was wrong. Tolle turned around in time to see her attacking Neveah and called for the disqualification.

Later, Steelz and Hogan complained to Scott D’Amore about Tolle’s officiating. D’Amore said he would take care of things. He then announced that Tolle won’t be the referee when Havok & Neveah challenged Fire N Flava for the tag belts at No Surrender. As this match had not yet been scheduled, Hogan and Steelz were a little upset with D’Amore’s announcement. He also announced the match would be no disqualification.

Black Taurus Joins Decay

Last week on Impact, Team XXXL recruited Tenille Dashwood to help in their feud with Decay. Dashwood, Acey Romero and Larry D will team against Rosemary, Crazzy Steve and a mystery partner this weekend at No Surrender. Impact Results (2/2): Moose Pins World Champion Rich Swann

Impact Wrestling is building towards No Surrender on February 13th, 2021. The event will stream on Impact Plus and feature The Good Brothers defending their titles against Private Party and Rich Swann defending his title against Tommy Dreamer.

Impact Wrestling results 2/2:

  1. Havok defeated Tasha Steelz
  2. Josh Alexander defeated Madman Fulton
  3. Larry D defeated Crazzy Steve
  4. Jordynne Grace defeated Susan
  5. Moose & Chris Bey defeated Rich Swann & Tommy Dreamer

Below are 10 key takeaways from the show and the lineup for next week and No Surrender:

Moose Pins Rich Swann In Main Event

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bd2fYfEgRmk

The self-proclaimed TNA World Heavyweight Champion, Moose, has been gunning for Impact World Champion Rich Swann for several months now. At Genesis, Moose beat Swann’s longtime tag partner and friend, Willie Mack. This led to Swann telling Moose he’d give him a title shot. At No Surrender, however, Swann will be facing Tommy Dreamer on Dreamer’s 50th birthday. Moose feels he should be getting that shot. Moose scored a pinfall over the champion this week, when he pinned Swann after a spear. It might be Swann vs Dreamer at No Surrender, but Moose will be waiting in the wings for the winner.

ODB Returns To Impact Wrestling

Jodrynne Grace defeated Su Yung’s alter-ego “Susan” in singles competition this week. Kimber Lee and Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo were on the outside and attempted to interfere and give Susan the advantage. Grace had Jazz on the outside, however, and she got into it with Purrazzo on the outside. After the match, the heels had a 3-on-2 advantage but ODB returned to Impact Wrestling and made the save.

“Big Money” Matt Hardy Explains The Financials of Being Tag Team Champions

Matt Hardy and Private Party were back on Impact this week. Private Party is preparing to have a tag-team title shot against the Good Brothers at No Surrender but they will also be in the tag-team battle royal on Dynamite this week. If they win the battle royal, they will go on to Revolution to face the Young Bucks. Hardy explained that the team could have both sets of tag belts soon and that means more money for all 3 of them.

Tony Khan Purchases More Advertisement Time

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghLXz20W990

The two Tonys from AEW were in rare form this week. While dressed out in their best beach vacation attire, the pair ran down the card for Dynamite this week. Khan also mentioned that he’s been emotionally impacted by the Impact invasion on Dynamite and this has led to him making emotional decisions, such as allowing Jon Moxley to wrestle on New Japan Strong.

Ken Shamrock Indefinitely Suspended

Footage was shown this week of what happened after Impact went off the air last week. Shamrock continued to attack everyone in sight and even Sami Callihan was not able to control him. Shamrock assaulted referees and security guards. It was then revealed that Impact has suspended Shamrock indefinitely.

Mahabali Shera Returns To Help Rohit Raju

Manik won the X-Division championship from Rohit Raju but many have assumed it was TJP under the mask since he was not permitted to challenge Raju for the belt again. Nobody could prove this, however. Now, it seems, TJP has been revealed as the X-Division Champion and there was seemingly nothing Raju can do about it.

This week, Raju and TJP faced off in singles competition with the stipulation that if Raju wins, he’ll face TJP for the title. The finish of this match came when TJP escaped to the outside but Mahabali Shera was under the ring, grabbed TJP, choke slammed him, and then Raju followed that up with a running knee for the win.

Brian Myers Brings In Hernandez For Feud With Eddie Edwards, Matt Cardona Makes The Save

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVgDXve9zLg

Brian Myers came out to cut a promo while wearing an eye patch this week. Myers was poked in the eye by Fallah Bah in a match recently and then last week, Eddie Edwards got disqualified when he snapped and started biting Myers’ face. Myers cut a promo this week about Edwards being unprofessional. This brought out Edwards but he was then attacked by Hernandez, who Myers appears to have enlisted for the feud. Matt Cardona then came out and made the save.

Later in the show, Edwards and Cardona were seen agreeing to ask management for a match against Hernandez and Myers at No Surrender.

Team XXXL Brings In Tenille Dashwood For Feud Against Decay

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DdVb2vvgrhQ

Team XXXL’s Larry D took on Decay’s Crazzy Steve in singles action this week. Larry and Acey Romero are upset with Decay for the role they played in Larry being wrongfully accused of shooting John E Bravo. Larry would pick up a measure of revenge this week when he defeated Crazzy Steve after a brutal punch to the face.

Later in the back, Team XXXL said the only reason they didn’t attack Rosemary as well is that she is a girl. This brought in Tenille Dashwood and Kaleb with a K and they said Tenille would gladly hit Rosemary. A match for No Surrender was made but Decay will have to find a 3rd member of their team.

Havok Picks Up Singles Victory Over Tasha Steelz

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRdQbR7pzBc

Havok & Neveah interrupted the title victory celebration for Fire N Flava recently and have made no secret that they are gunning for the tag belts. This week, Havok took on Tasha Steelz in singles competition. Steelz attempted to chop down her much larger opponent and Hogan also attempted to interfere from the outside. Hogan attempted to grab at Havok’s foot from the outside but then as Steelz was thrown to the ropes shortly after, Neveah grabbed her foot from the outside. This allowed Havok to hit a tombstone pile driver for the win.

At some point, Fire N Flava are going to have to defend their tag titles against Havok & Neveah, though that match has yet to be officially announced.

Josh Alexander Defeats Madman Fulton

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5XZIfOfOfs8

Alexander teamed with Matt Cardona last week to defeat Madman Fulton and Ace Austin. This week, Alexander faced Fulton in singles action. Alexander’s power was on full display as he was able to hit big moves on his much larger opponent. The finish of the match came when Fulton missed a corner attacked and Alexander hit a powerbomb followed by a Jay Driller for the win.

Impact Results (1/19): Tony Khan, Matt Hardy & Private Party Appear

Impact Wrestling on 1/19 featured the first episode filmed during the tapings over the weekend. Some significant events took place on the show including an in-person appearance by Tony Khan. “Big Money” Matt Hardy brought Private Party into the promotion as well.

Impact 1/19 Quick Results:

  1. Eric Young defeated Rhino
  2. Kimber Lee & Susan defeated Jordynne Grace & Jazz
  3. Brian Myers defeated Fallah Bah
  4. #1 Contenders Impact Tag Team Titles
Private Party defeated Chris Sabin & James Storm

Here are 8 Takeaways from Impact Wrestling 1/19:

Tony Khan & Jerry Lynn Help Matt Hardy & Private Party Qualify For Tag Title Shot

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hcf5KipibqM

Earlier in the night, the Good Brothers were cutting a promo when they were interrupted by Chris Sabin. With Alex Shelley on the shelf with an injury, James Storm also came out as Sabin’s new, albeit temporary, partner. All 4 men were then interrupted by Matt Hardy making his return to Impact Wrestling. Hardy was decked out as “Big Money Matt” and lobbied for his clients, Private Party, to be added to the tag title mix as well. The Good Brothers then pointed out that Private Party and Sabin/Storm could face each other with the winner facing the Good Brothers down the line. This set up the main event for later in the evening.

Before the match began, Tony Khan and Jerry Lynn came out in person and set up chairs at ringside. Lynn, of course, has a long history in Impact. Along with guys like AJ Styles and Low-Ki, Lynn is a pioneer of the X-Division.

After a fun back and forth match, Lynn would get involved in the finish. Sabin was on the top turnbuckle as Private Party was looking to set him up for their Gin and Juice finisher. Sabin tried to escape but Jerry Lynn ran to ringside and held onto his foot, holding him in place for Private Party to hit their finisher and get the win. Now, Private Party has earned a title shot against the Good Brothers.

Taya Valkyrie Arrested For Attempted Murder, Future Plans Teased

It’s not clear if Taya was really at these tapings or if they just filmed this scene ahead of time. Regardless, it appears Taya Valkyrie’s run in Impact Wrestling has come to an end. What a run it was too. She held the Knockouts Championship for the longest single-reign in history and was involved in major storylines throughout her entire time here. I don’t even think she missed anytime for injury either.

Acey Romero brought new evidence to Tommy Dreamer this week that proved Taya Valkyrie was the one who shot John E Bravo. She was taken away to prison after sharing an emotional moment with Rosemary.

After Taya was gone, Tommy Dreamer, Acey Romero, and John E Bravo had a very humorous exchange where they commented on what “prison” Taya might be going to. I’ve taken the liberty of transcribing their comments:

Tommy Dreamer: “If she’s lucky, she’ll go to Jacksonville (AEW)….state prison. But for what she did and she’s not that lucky, I think they are going to send her to Stamford (WWE) Maximum Penitentiary for 2 years, maybe an option for 3, and trust me, that will change a person’s soul forever.”

Acey Romero: “I hope they don’t send her to Baltimore (ROH)”

Tony Khan Explains Why He Sent “Big Money Matt” To Impact

After Matt Hardy had made his first appearance on the show, we were treated to another Tony Khan video this week. Tony Schiavone wasn’t with him this time, however, rather it was Jerry Lynn by his side. In this video, Khan explained why he sent Matt Hardy to Impact. Khan explained that he can’t “out carny” Impact because he’s a nice guy, and not a carny. Big Money Matt is a carny, however, so Khan sent him to Impact to cause chaos in response to Impact stars showing up on his program.

Moose and Rich Swann Rivalry Continues

At Genesis a couple of weeks ago, Moose earned a title shot against Rich Swann by defeating Willie Mack in an “I Quit” match. Then, after their Hard to Kill main event match where they teamed together along with Chris Sabin against Omega and the Good Brothers, Moose attacked Swann in the back. Swann cut an in-ring promo this week and said he had trust issues with Moose in the match at Hard to Kill. He calls out Moose, who joins him in the ring. Swann said he wants to give Moose his title shot tonight, but Moose declines, saying he wants the match to take place on his terms. The champion can’t wait, however, and goes after Moose and sends him retreating to the back after a Phoenix Splash.

Violent By Design Takes Out Rhino

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hzoiF_bXE9s

Eric Young and Rhino faced off in singles action to kick-off Impact this week. Both had been involved in the trios “Old School Rules” match at Hard to Kill. Young had Joe Doering and Deaner at ringside and Rhino brought Cousin Jake with him. Deaner would provide a distraction at ringside that allowed Doering to hit a brutal clothesline on Rhino and toss him back into the ring where Young was waiting. Young locked in a heel hook and made Rhino tapout for the win.

After the match, the faction continued the assault on Rhino’s leg, much like Young has done to Rich Swann in the past. They wrapped Rhino’s leg in a steel chair and Doering stomped on it, possibly leading to an injury. It might be awhile before Rhino is 100% again.

Kimber Lee & Susan Pick Up Win Over Jordynne Grace & Jazz

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hFuLHHsjekw

Su Yung was Susie and is now Susan, a straight-laced business-suit wearing persona. She teamed with Kimber Lee this week and had Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo on the outside. Their opponents were the team of Jordynne Grace and Jazz, who went to the semi-finals of the Knockouts tag-team title tournament.

The finish of this match came, when Kimber Lee had the ref distracted, allowing Purrazzo to hit Jazz with the Knockouts title. Susan then covered Jazz and picked up the win for her team.

It appears Susan is something of a “Susan” as well:

Brian Myers Defeats Fallah Bah, Will Face Eddie Edwards Next Week

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w4XLUaI8hvE

The “Most Professional Wrestler” Brian Myers didn’t shy away from taking shortcuts to pick up the win this week. He was taking on Fallah Bah, who has lost a dramatic amount of weight lately and is looking good. The finish of the match came when Fallah Bah inadvertently poked Myers in the eye. As Myers was explaining this to the referee, he was able to hit a low-blow with the ref out of position. Myers then hit a big clothesline and got the pin.

Later in the show, Myers went to Dr. Ross Foreman to get his poked eye evaluated. At the time, the doctor was treating Eddie Edwards for the many injuries he sustained at Hard to Kill. This set up a match between Myers and Edwards for next week.

Next Week On Impact Wrestling

The following matches have been confirmed for next week’s Impact Wrestling:

  • Brian Myers vs Eddie Edwards
  • Ace Austin & Madman Fulton vs Josh Alexander & Matt Cardona
  • Joe Doering vs Cousin Jake
  • Tenille Dashwood vs Rosemary
  • Kiera Hogan & Tasha Steelz host “Fire & Flava Festival” in celebration of tag title win

In 2 week:

  • Rohit Raju vs TJP (Non-title)

Matt Hardy Returns To Impact, Private Party Earn Impact Tag Title Shot

Kenny Omega didn’t appear live on Impact Wrestling this week, but it didn’t stop other AEW stars from invading the show and the episode saw the return of Matt Hardy to the Impact Zone for the first time since 2017, alongside appearances from several other stars from his current company.

A segment during the show saw The Good Brothers bragging about their victory at Saturday’s Hard To Kill main event but they were interrupted by Chris Sabin who wanted a rematch for the Impact tag titles. Gallows and Anderson pointed out how Sabin did not have his partner Alex Shelley on his side again but Chris said he has another guy and introduced the returning James Storm.

The two then tried to get into the ring but they were interrupted by AEW stars Matt Hardy and Private Party. Hardy praised the AEW tag team and said that they should be the ones getting a shot at the tag titles. Hardy also claimed that he saved the company from collapsing in 2016 and the Hardy Boyz technically never lost the Impact tag team titles before they left the promotion.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=loJcWcc4u1c

The segment resulted in a #1 contenders match for the tag titles being announced between the teams of Storm & Sabin and Private Party for the main event of the show. The episode interestingly also featured another paid advertisement from Tony Khan and Tony Schiavone but AEW producer Jerry Lynn was at Khan’s side this time.

The AEW president alongside Lynn showed up at the Impact Zone for the main event match to get a closer look at the action. Matt Hardy was already on the ringside to support Private Party. The match saw Private Party winning the bout and becoming the new #1 contenders for the Impact tag team championships thanks to interference from Jerry Lynn.

The Good Brothers came out to face off with Private Party after the bout but they were attacked by Sabin and Storm. The show went off air as a big brawl broke out among all the stars. There is no word yet on when Private Party will get their title shot and after the brawl, it would be interesting to see if Chris Sabin and James Storm are also added to the match.

Jeff Hardy Comments On Matt Hardy’s Fall At All Out

Jeff Hardy recently commented on what was going through his head when he saw his brother Matt get knocked out at AEW All Out in September. He spoke to Metro UK recently about what happened.

”Terrifying! When he tried to get up and then he fell down – when you hit your head hard, that’s scary stuff,” Jeff Hardy said. “That was scary, man, with Matt – flesh on concrete, it was scary when he couldn’t walk. Gosh, man – thank God he’s OK, but that’s part of the game.”

Jeff himself took a nasty bump not long ago. He was wrestling Elias in a Symphony of Destruction match on RAW when he appeared to hit his head hard on the ring steps.

“Even in that Symphony of Destruction match with Elias, people thought my head was messed up from the stairs but it was easy, my head is fine,’ Jeff continued. “When I did the Whisper in the Wind and he hit me in the butt with the guitar, my back is still messed up from that.”

Hardy defeated Elias in the Symphony of Destruction match on November 30th, 2020. He dropped a match to Randy Orton on last week’s edition of WWE RAW.

The full interview with Jeff Hardy can be read here.

Matt & Reby Hardy Expecting Their Fourth Child: It’s A Girl!

Congratulations are in order for AEW star Matt Hardy and wife Reby. On Friday evening, the couple announced they are expecting their fourth child together. It will be their first daughter.

The couple got married in 2013 and had their first child, a son, Maxel in June 2015 before having their second son, Wolfgang Xander in June 2017. Their third child, Bartholomew “Bartie” Kit, was born in December 2019.

You can see their “gender reveal” video here:

Hardy returned to WWE with his brother, Jeff, in 2017 at WrestleMania 33 after being away for several years. However, he had a run with WWE that wasn’t what he had envisioned, and thus, he decided to let his contract expire with WWE.

This was at a time where he wasn’t being used on television in a way that he wanted his brother went down with an injury that resulted in him getting surgery and being on the sidelines for several months. Hardy joined All Elite Wrestling earlier this year.

Hardy uploaded a new video on his YouTube channel earlier this week that saw him talk about where The Hardy Boyz ranks among the greatest tag teams of all-time. He even poked fun at Vince McMahon decided to put Jeff in a tag team with Matt Riddle as the Hardy Bros.

Matt Hardy Slams Vince McMahon For Hardy Bros. Tag Team

Matt Hardy has released a video explaining why the Hardy Boyz are the greatest tag team in pro wrestling history. Matt says he and Jeff will hold tag team gold once again. He also slams WWE Chairman Vince McMahon for attempting to “confuse the marketplace” with the Hardy Bros. tag team.

Matt calls himself the most innovative and creative trailblazer in all of pro wrestling history. He is the brains, the captain, the manager and the motivation behind the greatest tag team ever – and he’s got the evidence to back it up.

Hardy Boyz: #GTTOAT

The Hardy Boyz are the only tag team in history to hold World Tag Team Championships from WWE, WCW, Ring of Honor and Impact Wrestling.

There are several other teams that are in the conversation for Greatest Tag Team of All Time. Hardy named the Road Warriors, The Rock and Roll Express, the Young Bucks and even The New Day.

D ro5BfWkAIPnaM

However, the Hardy Boyz are more popular than them all. Aside from being tag team legends, Matt and Jeff have both held multiple world championships as singles competitors.

Matt claims it is a ‘documented fact’ that the Hardy Boyz have sold more merchandise than any team in history. In 2000, the the team made 20x their WWE downside guarantees because they sold so much merchandise.

The Hardy Boyz are still 100% healthy and in their prime of their careers. Matt assures viewers that he and Jeff will hold championship gold together once again.

Matt Hardy Slams Vince McMahon & The Hardy Bros.

Matt then turned his attention to Vince McMahon and the new Hardy Bros. tag team. He says McMahon is so obsessed with the greatness, success and popularity of the Hardy Boyz that he’s ripped them off with the Hardy Bros.

WWE has paired Jeff Hardy with another “Matt” (Riddle) in an effort to confuse the marketplace recreate the magic of the originals.

Matt Hardy says the Hardy Bros. will not be successful. He says the Fake Razor Ramon and Fake Diesel had a better chance of getting over than the Hardy Bros.

Details On What To Expect From Elite Deletion at AEW Full Gear

At Full Gear on November 7th, 2020, Matt Hardy and Sammy Guevara’s feud will continue with an Elite Deletion match. According to comments made recently on Wrestling Observer Radio, this will be a cinematic match taped ahead of time.

“This will be a cinematic match,” said Dave Meltzer on the show. “I don’t know if they are going to do it at the Hardy compound, I didn’t ask. But I know that it’s going to be a taped match and it’s not going live.”

The feud between Guevara and Hardy has been somewhat plagued by injuries. Hardy was busted up on an episode of Dynamite after Guevara tossed a heavy chair at his head. Then at the All Out PPV, Hardy was knocked unconcisous after both wrestlers jumped off a lift through a table. The match was re-started after Hardy was cleared to continue.

“I know that the original idea was to do it at Hardy’s house,” Meltzer continued. “I don’t know that they are or they’re not, I haven’t asked that one yet. That was the plan for this feud going back to March. At the beginning, they couldn’t do it there. So, that may be what this is, the plan they always had and finally getting to do this match.”

“Hardy and Sammy Guevara at the Hardy Compound was an idea that they had dating back well before the pandemic,” he continued. “The idea of them doing a cinematic match was always planned.”

‘The Multiverse of Matt Hardy’ Web Series Premieres

Matt Hardy has launched a new web series. The first episode of “The Multiverse of Matt Hardy” released on his official YouTube channel yesterday.

“In his brand new web series, Matt Hardy attempts to learn how to balance his normal, everyday life with all of the multiple identities inside of him,” reads a description of the show.

Hardy released a teaser for the web series on Twitter recently.

The Multiverse of Matt Hardy

The 6-minute video focusses on Hardy’s life at the Hardy Family Compound in North Carolina. He wrestles his kids and even teaches them some promo skills as well. Hardy goes through several of his personas throughout the video.

Injuries From Sammy Guevara Feud

Hardy has yet to wrestle since his match against Sammy Guevara at All Out 2020. That match was briefly stopped shortly after Hardy appeared to be knocked out after falling off a lift through a table.

Hardy was also injured via chairshot from Guevara leading up to the PPV match.

“I was really lucky I wasn’t concussed badly,” Hardy admitted about the chairshot. “I was able to hit the chair a little bit and slowed it down. If I wasn’t able to slow it down, I’m sure it would have knocked me completely unconscious. But even knocking it down and slowing it down, it still split me open.”

Tony Khan Provides The Latest Update On Matt Hardy

Tony Khan recently Tweeted out that Matt Hardy has passed all tests following a scary series of events on last night’s PPV. Hardy and Sammy Guevara fell onto two tables in the backstage area but Hardy’s head seemed to land flat on the concrete. According to the latest update from Khan, Hardy did not suffer a concussion and will be at Dynamite on Wednesday.

Tony Khan Tweeted out the following:

“An update on Matt Hardy: it’s great news! Matt’s ok, we sent him to the hospital as a precaution & he’s passed the MRI + CT scans, he doesn’t have a concussion, and he’s being driven home now. Matt will be at Dynamite on Wednesday night to thank you amazing fans for your support!”

Hardy looked to be out cold and later was having trouble continuing in the match. Referee Aubrey Edwards originally called for the match to be stopped but Hardy was eventually cleared to continue. Hardy would go on to win the match after Guevara fell from a structure onto some crash pads.

A stipulation was added to the match that if Hardy had lost, he would have to leave AEW forever.

Matt Hardy Sent To Hospital After Scary Spot At AEW All Out

Matt Hardy took a trip to a local hospital after his match against Sammy Guevara.

The two stars worked a Broken Rules Match at Saturday’s AEW All Out pay-per-view event in Jacksonville, Florida at Daily’s Place. It started at the football stadium and with a spot where Hardy and Guevara took a bump off a forklift in the backstage area.

They were supposed to go through tables, but they overshot it and the back of Matt’s head hit the floor. It was pretty clear that something was wrong with Matt because he had trouble getting to his feet. The doctor came in and the match was waved off. However, moments later, the match was restarted.

They climbed up part of the stage structure so Matt could push him off where Sammy fell a few feet through a pad for the win.

Later in the show, Tony Schiavone announced that Matt is expected to be okay and Dr. Sampson cleared him to continue the match.

Hardy’s wife, Reby, took to her official Twitter account where she ripped the company for allowing the match to continue. She wrote the following:

“Let me be absolutely f**king clear. There is NOTHING entertaining about a concussion. Shame on everyone in that g**damn building.”

It was later reported by PWinsider.com that Hardy went to the hospital after the contest to be checked out. We’ll pass along any updates on Hardy as they come in.

Matt Hardy On Why Jeff Hardy Is Still In WWE, Shelving Broken Gimmick

Having signed with All Elite Wrestling, Matt Hardy addressed why his brother, Jeff Hardy, has remained with WWE during an interview with Chris Van Vliet.

Hardy explained how his brother had accrued a lot of time away from the ring while under contract. Because of this, WWE simply extended Jeff’s contract to make up for the time away from in-ring competition. Matt shared how he managed to work through his contract without getting injured, allowing him to leave and sign with AEW.

“Jeff had two major surgeries during his deal. He had shoulder surgery and then he had the knee surgery. He also had some personal time off he needed to take. Altogether it was about a year and eight months,” Hardy explained. “Once that happens in WWE if they still continue to pay you, they can extend his contract so he had a year and eight months tacked on to his deal as opposed to my deal. I worked all the way through without ever being injured, so that is why Jeff is still working there now.”

During the course of their discussion, Hardy also addressed the current status of his Broken gimmick in AEW. He noted how, if his debut had taken place in front of fans, then Broken Matt Hardy would have been a lot more viable.

Hardy explained this was due to the gimmick’s subtleties. He argued that these intricacies would have been picked up and enjoyed by a live audience. In lieu of that connection, Hardy has decided to “hold off” on the gimmick and return to a “character-based in reality” until the time is right to re-introduce Broken Matt Hardy.

Matt Hardy Details The Damage He Suffered From Recent Chair Shot Incident

All Elite Wrestling’s Matt Hardy has reflected on the damage Sammy Guevara’s errant chair shot caused during an interview with Chris Van Vliet.

Guevara would accidentally hit Hardy with a chair, causing Hardy to require 13 stitches after being busted open. Looking back on the incident, Hardy revealed how he still suffers from numbness, soreness, and headaches. He recalled how he suffered from severe headaches in the days following the impact:

“I was really lucky I wasn’t concussed badly,” Hardy admitted. “I was able to hit the chair a little bit and slowed it down. If I wasn’t able to slow it down, I’m sure it would have knocked me completely unconscious. But even knocking it down and slowing it down, it still split me open.”

Hardy highlighted how he needed 13 stitches. He revealed how the chair shot also did some damage to the back of his neck and caused whiplash that he still suffers from alongside the stiffness and headaches.

Matt Hardy added how he was given a few weeks off to recover and is now “back and ready to go again.” In the fallout of the chair shot, Hardy faced off against Guevara in a tables match in the main event of the 8/27 episode of Dynamite. Hardy lost the match to Guevara after the Inner Circle member was able to successfully drive him through a table.

Matt Hardy Comments On What WWE Had Planned For Him If He Re-Signed

Matt Hardy recently spoke to Chris Van Vliet and mentioned what he feels WWE would have done with him had he re-signed with the company. The 45-year-old’s last stint with WWE lasted from 2017 until March of this year. Hardy says that had he re-signed with WWE, the company wanted him to move into more of a coaching role.

“Vince and WWE, they already had it in their mind,” Hardy said. “In Vince’s mind, he was ready to move me on from being a talent into working backstage. Being a producer, helping give back and teach other guys behind the scenes. And I’m very happy to do that but a little later on.”

“These last few years that I have to do this physically, I want to do it to the highest level that I can.”

Hardy continued to say that WWE did offer him other roles during negotiations but Hardy figured they had made up their mind about him.

“Even though they offered to do other things after I expressed that was my concern, I know in my head they had already made up their mind how they see me as. So I just knew I needed to go somewhere else.”

Hardy now gets to perform and give back to younger talent in AEW. He has been working with the young team of Private Party so far in the promotion.

“On top of still being able to perform and still do what I want to do in my last few years, I also still get to help back and help young talent as well.”

Matt Hardy Comments On Sammy Guevara’s Chairshot From Last Week

Last week on Dynamite, Sammy Guevara chucked a chair at Matt Hardy. The end result was a deep laceration to the 45-year-old’s head. Hardy posted a video to Twitter recently to talk about the incident.

“You ever have those moments in life where it seems like time stands still?” Hardy asks to begin the video. “I had one of those last week, AEW Dynamite, when I got into a brawl with that little weirdo bitch Sammy Guevara.”

Hardy then continued to mention that the chair Sammy hit him with was not the usual kind seen in pro-wrestling.

“I was thinking ‘that’s no average steel chair, folding chair, that you see in pro wrestling. No, that’s 3 or 4 times heavier, heavy-ass industrial-grade chair, that’s what is flying at my face.’”

The chairshot was referenced this week on Being the Elite as well. Hardy said he felt fine but then switched between several of his many personas in short succession.

“Sammy, that literally could have killed me,” Hardy continued. “Congratulations, you are going to go down in pro-wrestling history as the guy who threw the most dangerous, reckless, vicious chairshot in history.”

Hardy then promised to get revenge on Guevara.

“It’s my mission to rid you from this business because you don’t deserve to be in the same industry I’m in,” Hardy said to Guevara.

Matt Hardy Expresses Concerns Over Jeff Hardy’s Current WWE Storyline

All Elite Wrestling’s Matt Hardy has hinted at his concerns over WWE’s current storyline between his brother Jeff Hardy and Sheamus.

The two have been feuding for weeks, with a heavy focus of the narrative being put on Jeff Hardy’s past real-life substance abuse issues. It’s something Matt Hardy believes could be adding “unneeded pressure” on his brother.

Responding to a fan on Twitter, Matt Hardy stressed how AEW has allowed him to “brand his persona.”

He explained how this freedom has seen him help out younger talent both on-screen and backstage. Matt Hardy noted how AEW has celebrated his legacy and contributions to the pro wrestling industry.

It was argued how Matt is being celebrated for his impact on the industry in AEW, whereas Jeff is being presented as a “junkie.”

It was then asked, “What if he relapsed?” These concerns are clearly shared by Matt Hardy, who acknowledged he has the same worries for Jeff.

Having lost to Sheamus at WWE Backlash, Jeff Hardy and Sheamus are scheduled to face each other once more. They will clash in a Bar Fight. The match takes place at The Horror Show at Extreme Rules, which airs on July 19 on the WWE Network.

Matt Hardy Talks About His AEW Experience To Date, Current Gimmick

All Elite Wrestling’s Matt Hardy has opened up about his experience with the promotion to date. He also detailed his future plans in the company and how where he sees his current gimmick going.

Speaking with Sportskeeda, Hardy shared how he has been “thrilled” so far with his time in AEW. He added how he “honestly can’t say enough good things about it.”

Hardy explained how he wanted to pick up where the Broken Matt Hardy character should have been left off. This is what led to the creation of his Free The Delete show on YouTube. He noted how the show highlighted how a “new version” of Matt Hardy was heading to AEW.

Since his time in the promotion, Hardy has been embracing several different gimmicks and appearances that reference his career, often within the same segment or match. He explained that had always been his intention.

“Once I started, from the jump, my plan was to do different versions of my personas throughout time, as the ‘Multifarious’ Matt Hardy. Ultimately my goal is to lead that into something new, something to put that together into one entity, and have that be the next persona I really want to get over and run with.”

Matt Hardy has recently been accompanying and helping Private Party. He coached them from ringside during their AEW Tag Team Championship match on Wednesday night at Fyter Fest Night Two. Despite their best efforts, however, they were unable to wrest the championships from reigning champions Kenny Omega and Hangman Page.

Triple H Says Matt Hardy Didn’t Invent Cinematic Matches But Recognizes His Impact

Triple H is quick to point out that Matt Hardy didn’t invent cinematic matches but he does recognize the impact he has had on them. He also noted the importance of Jeremy Borash’s contributions to the growing genre of pro-wrestling during a recent interview with Metro UK.

“It’s a funny thing, that people say all of a sudden there’s this moment with the cinematic thing that happened,” Triple H said. “But people were doing that 20 years ago.”

HHH would continue to use Mankind vs the Rock’s Halftime Heat match and Booker T vs Steve Austin in a grocery store as examples.

Matches filmed like movies have been taking place for decades, but recent years have seen science fiction and fantasy-inspired elements creep into such segments. This was the case with both Matt Hardy’s Broken Universe in TNA and with Lucha Underground and its head writer, the recently-released Chris DeJoseph.

Jeremy Borash’s work behind-the-scenes with the Broken Universe in Impact before he was hired by WWE was praised by Triple H during the interview.

“Jeremy’s an incredible talent with an eye for storytelling and an eye for image and everything like that. Man, I can’t tell you how much I enjoy working with him.”

Finally, Triple H certainly wants to correct people who say Hardy and Borash invented the genre but he is also willing to admit the two took cinematic matches to another level.

“That’s not to negate the Matt Hardy, Jeremy Borash thing that you mentioned,” he said to the Metro reporter. “That took it to another level. There’s all steps to this – but to say it all started there, to me, I’d say it’s not accurate.”

The full interview can be read here.

Matt Hardy Wants To Create The Most Layered Character Ever

In AEW at the moment, both classic Matt Hardy and the version that has been taken over by a 3000-year-old entity named Damascus can be seen. In a recent interview with CBS Sports Radio, Hardy noted that he wants to create the most layered character in wrestling history.

“You’re going to see many versions of Matt Hardy,” Hardy said on the show. “I’m really working to create the most layered wrestling character ever right now.”

He also noted that he likes it when other wrestlers or those in segments with him aren’t aware of what he is going to say next.

“A lot of times it works best when I’m speaking with my opponent and they don’t even know what’s coming,” he continued. “You get more of a natural reaction because he says a lot of absurd stuff, he says a lot of unpredictable stuff.”

Hardy then used the example of Chris Jericho’s reaction to Hardy calling him a “Hole of the Ass” on a recent episode of Dynamite.

“When I called Chris Jericho, we were in the ring together, and I called him a hole of the ass, he almost lost it just because he wasn’t expecting that,” he continued.

Hardy’s comments on the show can be heard in the Tweet below:

Matt Hardy Cuts Promo On Sammy Guevara (Video)

Matt Hardy has teamed with Kenny Omega for the last two weeks on AEW Dynamite. This week the team defeated Santana and Ortiz but the week before, they lost to Le Sex Gods (Sammy Guevara & Chris Jericho) in a street fight.

The Inner Circle has since challenged the Elite (and likely Hardy as well) to a Stadium Stampede match at Double or Nothing. Hardy is also scheduled to take on Sammy Guevara on next week’s episode of Dynamite.

Hardy took to his official YouTube page recently to cut a promo on his upcoming opponent.

“You would think after you poked the bear as many times as you’ve poked the bear you would have learned your lesson,” Hardy said to Guevara in the video.

Hardy would continue to talk about Sammy’s involvement in the destruction of Vanguard-1.

“Then you pushed him way too far because you Sammy were involved in the destruction of Vanguard-1 and that incident, regardless of what you felt about it, it made everyone feel something.”

Hardy’s promo is in his classic Matt Hardy persona. He refers to his Broken persona as a separate person.

“You know what Damascus felt? He felt fury and rage and anger because regardless of what anyone thought about it, Damascus the Broken One, he loved Vanguard-1 like a man loves a dog that he’s had his entire life.”

“This Wednesday you have accepted Damascus’ offer to step in the ring and go one-on-one Sammy? He’s coming for blood, he’s coming to break you into little pieces the same way you broke Vanguard-1 into pieces, Sammy.”

Matt Hardy On Being Left Off List Hyping WWE’s Greatest Ladder Matches

This Saturday, FOX will be airing a two-hour special on WWE’s Greatest Ladder Matches. The announcement was accompanied by a Tweet highlighting how the special will feature top Superstars who competed in “the best of the most high-flying, crowd-wowing battles in sports entertainment — the ladder match.” Although the message listed a number of top stars, a few names were noticeably missing, including Matt Hardy’s.

The former WWE Superstar has since responded to the apparent slight by WWE. When a fan tagged him in a tweet complaining at Hardy’s omission, Hardy replied: “It’s all good.”

Hardy wasn’t the only Superstar to be missing from their advert. Shawn Michaels, Scott Hall, and Matt’s brother, Jeff, were also noticeably absent.

Matt Hardy wrote:

“In 2020, wrestling fans know you can’t talk about @WWE’s greatest ladder matches without the names HBK, Razor, Christian, Bubba, D-von, Matt & Jeff included.. Hopefully, those matches are included for keeping the actual history credible.”

Matt Hardy Is All Elite

Matt Hardy recently made his debut on AEW Dynamite, aligning himself with The Elite. This week on Dynamite, Hardy will compete in a Street Fight.

He teams with Elite member Kenny Omega. The pair will take on the team of Inner Circle members Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara. This match marks Matt Hardy’s in-ring debut with the company since his first debuted on the show.

Matt Hardy Comments On FireFly Fun House Match, Bray Wyatt Responds

One of the most talked-about matches of WrestleMania 36 was the FireFly Fun House match between John Cena and Bray Wyatt. Many have drawn comparisons between the cinematic elements of the FireFly Fun House match, the previous night’s Boneyard match, and the Broken Universe of Matt Hardy’s.

Hardy posted a congratulatory message on Twitter after the match aired. Posting a photo of himself with former tag team partner Bray Wyatt from a past WrestleMania, Hardy wrote, “Congratulations, my COMPEER.”

Fresh off his win over John Cena at WrestleMania, Bray Wyatt responded to Hardy with a series of black hearts.

Hardy also commented on fans reaching out to him regarding the Boneyard Match/FireFly Fun House/Broken Universe comparisons:

Hardy also Tweeted about the Boneyard Match from WrestleMania 36 night 1:

“My twitter feed exploded. Thanks for all the love, folks.. I’m truly honored. Cinematic matches 100% work with the right characters, scenario & fanbase – I envisioned them as a new branch of pro wrestling years ago. Much like TLC did, The #BROKEN Universe will leave its mark.”

John Cena’s Greatest Fears Felt Inside The FireFly Fun House

John Cena appeared in the FireFly Fun House only briefly before exiting through a door with a sign reading “Abandon all hope ye who exit here.” The line is originally from Dante’s Divine Comedy. It is meant to convey the entrance to hell.

The match then featured Cena going through various fears he’d had throughout his career. His rookie year on Smackdown when he was almost fired, a heel turn that never happened, and his match against Wyatt at WM30 were all featured during the match in addition to other periods of his career.

Matt Hardy Reacts To Boneyard Match, Broken Universe Comparisons

On the first night of WrestleMania 36, the show was closed by a Boneyard Match between the Undertaker and AJ Styles. The match resembled an action/horror movie more than it did a traditional wrestling match.

The Boneyard Match has drawn comparisons to Matt Hardy’s Broken Universe’s cinematic elements. Hardy responded to fans making comparisons online by saying he always envisioned such matches becoming a genre of pro-wrestling.

“Broken” Matt says his Twitter feed “exploded” after the Boneyard Match and thanked everyone for their love. “I’m truly honored,” he wrote. “Cinematic matches 100% work with the right characters, scenario & fanbase – I envisioned them as a new branch of pro wrestling years ago.”

Hardy compared the buzz surrounding his Broken Universe to that of the legendary Tables, Ladders & Chairs matches that he and brother Jeff helped innovate.

“Much like TLC did, The #BROKEN Universe will leave its mark.”

More Boneyard Match Reactions

Undertaker’s vs AJ Styles has drawn many reactions online from fans and wrestling personalities.

Mick Foley wants to be in the next Boneyard Match:

Stephanie McMahon thanked everyone involved in WrestleMania but gave special mention to those involved in the Boneyard Match:

Former UFC heavyweight and light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier was impressed:

Shotzi Blackheart issued up the following:

Xavier Woods once visited the Wyatt Family Compound in a cinematic match. He noted on Twitter that he likes this style of wrestling.

Woods moved on to other topics, however:

Night 2 of WrestleMania will air tonight on the WWE Network beginning at 7 PM est (Kickoff show begins at 6 PM). John Cena vs Bray Wyatt in a FireFly Fun House match could potentially be a similarly styled match.

AEW Reportedly Re-Shot Dynamite Segment Between Chris Jericho And Matt Hardy During The Show

The main event segment of this week’s Dynamite saw Matt Hardy confronting the former AEW World Champion Chris Jericho after his debut on last week’s episode of the show.

During the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer talked about this angle and revealed some interesting titbits about whole thing.

According to Meltzer, most of the things on Dynamite were produced live and the confrontation angle was one of the few things to be taped beforehand on Tuesday.

However, Chris Jericho did not like the taped version of the segment and he wanted it to be reshot. Though they could not shoot it in the day time because the difference would have been obvious on TV.

So the company shot the angle again during the Kip Sabian vs. Darby Allin match which was the only bout of the night that had been shot beforehand.

The production team then had just 15 minutes to edit the whole thing before it aired on TV and it’s an impressive feat of achievement considering the fact that AEW has been doing live TV for less than a year.

Chris Jericho also confirmed this story on a Facebook Live Stream, noting that they planned to shoot the angle before Dynamite went on air but they couldn’t do it because the sun had not gone down yet.

Matt Hardy Explains The Secret Behind His “Teleportation” Illusion On Dynamite

Matt Hardy’s vessel is currently being used by Damascus, a 3000-year-old being that is able to sense the “essences” of others inside Daily’s Place even when no fans are allowed in attendance. As he told us last week on Dynamite, Chris Jericho recently banned fans from attending live AEW events.

During Hardy and Jericho’s face-to-face segment last week, Hardy appeared to teleport to different places in the empty arena.

Hardy has recently offered up an explanation for how his character appeared to teleport but did so without breaking the rules of physics and reality.

It appears that Vanguard 1, Hardy’s drone, projected images of Hardy all over the arena to confuse Chris Jericho.

Chris Jericho On Segment With Matt Hardy

Jericho recently took to his Facebook account and published a live stream with his thoughts on the angle.

Jericho continued to say that some pre-recorded parts had to be filmed over on Wednesday as he wasn’t happy with how they originally came out. They then had to wait for the sun to go down to film the segments again.

Jericho then went on to answer questions from fans during the stream. You can watch Chris Jericho’s live stream embedded below or at Facebook.com.
