Chris Jericho Mocks Matt Riddle With “Minor League Wannabe Bros” Video

Chris Jericho has continued his feud with Matt Riddle on social media after seeing a recent video that Riddle posted on his official Instagram account.

Jericho just shared this video on Twitter while wearing a headband as a way to mock how Riddle looks. He also had an interesting caption in the video, which you can see here:

The bad blood started when Jericho responded to a fan on social media who shared a snippet from Jericho’s book where he told Riddle that he should learn and listen when it comes to learning for promos that talent should never totally bury their opponent.

Riddle would respond with a tweet and then a video on Instagram. This is where he noted that Jericho came at him first and doesn’t understand why he would listen and learn from Jericho.

He would then call Jericho soft and claimed that he would beat up Jericho should they fight. Jericho was referring to Riddle’s comments about Goldberg several weeks ago.

WWE presents the NXT TakeOver: Toronto II special on Saturday, August 10, 2019 in Toronto, Ontario at the Scotiabank Arena.

At this show, Riddle takes on Velveteen Dream and Roderick Strong in a Triple Threat Match for the NXT North American Title.

Jericho is slated to take on Hangman Page to crown the inaugural AEW World Heavyweight Champion at AEW’s next show, All Out, on Saturday, August 31st at the Sears Centre in Chicago, IL.

Riddle then issued the following response:

Booker T was critical of Matt Riddle’s comments toward Bill Goldberg on his “Reality of Wrestling” show recently:

“I was listening to Matt Riddle talk about Goldberg,” Booker T said. “And I got a chance to watch Matt Riddle work. This guy needs a lot of work. You’re talking about somebody that needs to work on their craft? This Matt Riddle, he needs to work on his craft and that’s coming from Booker T.”

Matt Riddle Comments On Rumored Goldberg SummerSlam Match

WWE NXT star Matt Riddle upset a lot of fans over a recent post on social media that spoiled a match announcement featuring the return of one WWE Hall of Famer at SummerSlam.

Earlier this week it was reported that former WWE Universal Champion Goldberg would be making his return to in-ring action when he battles Dolph Ziggler at this upcoming pay-per-view event.

It should be noted that WWE has yet to confirm the match.

Riddle, who has a history with Goldberg, shared the following image on Instagram and noted that he wants to be added to the contest:

Riddle was critical of Goldberg a few months ago before Goldberg made his in-ring return to take The Undertaker in a singles match at the WWE Super ShowDown pay-per-view event in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

After the match, he also criticized Goldberg for his performance in the contest.

Before Riddle’s latest remarks, Goldberg blocked him on social media. Riddle had made some harsh comments in 2017 about Goldberg. This was a time where Riddle wasn’t under contract with WWE.

Goldberg vs Dolph Ziggler Planned For SummerSlam (Report)

That includes Goldberg having matches that only lasted for a few minutes because if they last longer then they are bad as well as beating Hulk Hogan in minutes, his push in WCW, and using MMA techniques into his matches.

Matt Riddle Continues To Teases Confrontation With Top NXT UK Star

Matt Riddle recently spoke with Justin Barrasso of SI.com to talk about a wide range of topics including goals that he has. Riddle made it known that he’s hungry to add championship gold to his resume.

Thus, not only does he want to hold the NXT North American Title but he also plans to go after the NXT Title, which is held by Adam Cole, and the NXT UK Title that is held by WALTER. This isn’t the first time that Riddle has teased going after WALTER.

“Here is my plan,” said Riddle. “I’d like to hold the North American title, then go to NXT U.K. to fight WALTER. Then I’ll take his U.K. title.”

Matt Riddle Teases Confrontation With NXT UK Champion

Riddle is aware that it will take some time for this to happen because he thinks NXT has never been as strong as it is today. He wants to obtain some goals, redeem some losses, and definitely have a good time along the way.

Riddle is still in the early stages of his career with WWE but fans have high hopes for him in their developmental system NXT.

It was revealed in August 2018 at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn 4 that he had signed with the WWE as he was sitting front row at the show.

At this show, The Velveteen Dream is defending his North American Title in a triple threat match against Roderick Strong and Pete Dunne at NXT TakeOver: Toronto II.

Matt Riddle Responds To Booker T Saying He Needs A Lot Of Work

Booker T appeared to have taken offense to Matt Riddle’s comments about Bill Goldberg. Riddle had said that Goldberg is “hurting people” when talking about his performance at Super ShowDown against The Undertaker:

“The thing for me is, and one of the reasons I was never a fan of Goldberg in the beginning when everybody was like ‘oh, he’s so good!’ I was like ‘no, he’s terrible, he’s hurting people’ and there’s nothing else.”

Booker T didn’t take this comment lightly and said that Riddle needs to work a lot on himself before he starts talking about anybody.

“I was listening to Matt Riddle talk about Goldberg,” Booker T said on his Reality of Wrestling show. “And I got a chance to watch Matt Riddle work. This guy needs a lot of work. You’re talking about somebody that needs to work on their craft? This Matt Riddle, he needs to work on his craft and that’s coming from Booker T.”

It didn’t take long before Riddle himself took notice of Booker T’s comments and responded back to the story on his social media.

The Bro wrote without a care in the world, “I guess old WCW wrestlers hate the bro, I wonder who will be next”

Riddle is known for being outspoken and speaking his mind, it is quite possible that these comments can get the attention of another wrestling veteran.

Booker T Rips Matt Riddle: “This Guy Needs A Lot Of Work”

Booker T appears to have taken some offense to Matt Riddle’s recent comments about Bill Goldberg. Riddle was publicly critical of Goldberg’s performance at Super ShowDown against the Undertaker. According to comments made by Booker T, however, Riddle should focus more on his own craft.

“I wish Matt Riddle would come down to my school and get a first-class one-on-one wrestling 101 training,” Booker continued.

Booker T Sends Message To Matt Riddle

“Before Matt Riddle starts talking about anybody, Matt Riddle needs to work on his game and he needs to work on it very, very hard and that’s coming from a Hall-of-Famer. That’s coming from one of the best in the business. Now, Matt Riddle he can say whatever he wants to say about Booker T but I’ll tell you right now, I was top five. Top five in the world, I hover somewhere in that top 5 echelon.”

“Hey Matt Riddle, work on your game kid,” Booker continued. “That’s coming from the 5-time champ.”

Matt Riddle Still Wants To Retire Brock Lesnar, Considers Match A “Passing Of The Torch”

Matt Riddle continues to lobby for a matchup against former WWE Universal Champion, Brock Lesnar.

It’s no secret that Riddle wants the opportunity not only to wrestle but retire, “The Beast Incarnate.” In an interview with RondaRousey.com, he spoke more about his ambitions to be the man to defeat Lesnar once and for all. When asked if he had a timetable for retiring Brock, Riddle replied,

“You know, I feel you just have to look into his contract,” he said. “Whenever he does it. I think of it as more of a passing of the torch. And the thing is, it’s like one of those things, I feel like it would be a good way to go out. And I feel like, if it’s going to be anybody…if he’s going to have his last match with anybody…if Ric Flair had his with Shawn Michaels in WWE, I don’t know why he couldn’t have his with me. I think it would be good.”

“The Original Bro” recently broadcast some harsh criticism aimed directly at Goldberg. This came following the Hall Of Famer’s matchup against The Undertaker at Super ShowDown. Riddle was critical of Goldberg, calling him “terrible” before explaining that all he does is hurt people in the ring.

Matt Riddle On Goldberg: “He’s Terrible, He’s Hurting People”

NXT’s Matt Riddle was publicly critical of the Goldberg vs Undertaker match from Super ShowDown in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia recently. In recent months, Riddle has made comments about wanting to retire Brock Lesnar as well. Riddle is currently at the Download Festival in the UK and spoke to Talk Sport about why he doesn’t like Goldberg.

“The thing for me is, and one of the reasons I was never a fan of Goldberg in the beginning when everybody was like ‘oh, he’s so good!’ I was like ‘no, he’s terrible, he’s hurting people’ and there’s nothing else.”

“He just has three-minute matches. And that was my thing and when people say ‘who was your favorite wrestler?’ I really don’t have one. I just liked really good wrestling. That’s why I fight and I do that. So for me, I don’t care how much money he makes, I’m just glad people were entertained. But, stick to your wheelhouse, bro. And stop headbutting doors before you wrestle. And I’m not hating – I’m not hating – I’m just spitting facts and these are all facts and things he should take into consideration. And not just for me, not because he got made fun of, but for his health as well.”

Matt Riddle’s Reported Reason For Ripping Goldberg

Riddle’s comments regarding Goldberg were also addressed recently on Figure Four Daily with Bryan Alvarez and Lance Storm.

“This is what I was told about why Matt Riddle doesn’t like Bill Goldberg,” Bryan Alvarez said on the show. Alvarez did stress he has not talked to Riddle about this, however.

“The way it was explained to me was Matt Riddle has two great loves in his life. One of them is professional wrestling and one of them is mixed martial arts. In his mind, Goldberg is a guy who made millions and millions of dollars and did not love professional wrestling. He also had a gimmick where basically he pretended to be a mixed martial arts fighter, which he was not. These are apparently the things that really bothered Matt Riddle. There’s I’m sure probably more to it than that but that’s what I was told.”

Matt Riddle Takes Jab At WWE Star On Social Media

WWE NXT star Matt Riddle got fans talking when he responded to a fan who tweeted about Lacey Evans not selling WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley’s finisher after Monday’s episode of RAW went off the air.

Evans lost to WWE RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch in the dark main event which led to Bayley running out to make the save for Lynch.  A fan tweeted a video of the segment, which saw Riddle write the following:

This appears to be a reference to Goldberg, who was in the headlines due to his match against The Undertaker at the WWE Super ShowDown pay-per-view event last week and Riddle taking shots at him on social media.

Riddle made some harsh comments about Goldberg in 2017 while talking with Sporting News. This was a time where Riddle wasn’t under contract with WWE.

During this interview, Riddle, who is one of WWE’s top prospect and seems destined to be called up to the main roster, was critical of Goldberg for a wide range of reasons.

Lynch makes her next title defense against Evans at the WWE Stomping Grounds pay-per-view event on Sunday, June 23 at the Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, WA.

Matt Riddle Explains Comments Regarding Goldberg

Matt Riddle offered up an explanation today for why he has been taking shots at Goldberg on social media as of late. Riddle was publicly critical of Goldberg’s performance at Super ShowDown. While not mentioning anyone by name, Riddle posted the following earlier today:

Shortly after, Riddle posted this follow-up message as well:

Matt Riddle vs Bill Goldberg

Riddle made several comments regarding Goldberg’s performance from Jeddah yesterday:

Previously, Riddle noted that Goldberg had blocked him on social media:

Matt Riddle vs Brock Lesnar

Riddle has also been mentioning wanting to retire Brock Lesnar on his Twitter. Most recently, Riddle posted the following on Tuesday June 4th:

He has stated on several occasions that it is a goal of his to retire Brock Lesnar.

Riddle most recently defeated Roderick Strong of the Undisputed Era at NXT TakeOver XXV. He had previously dropped a North American title shot against the Velveteen Dream at Takeover: New York. His loss to Dream is the only single’s loss he’s had on NXT programming since debuting. Riddle also defeated the current NXT champion Adam Cole on an episode of NXT which aired on May 8th, 2019.

Matt Riddle Reacts To Goldberg Blocking Him On Twitter

It appears that Goldberg is not a fan of WWE NXT star Matt Riddle as he blocked him on Twitter. Riddle took to his official Instagram account to not only let fans know about it but also give his thoughts.

Riddle’s post comes just a few days before Goldberg makes his in-ring return to take The Undertaker in a singles match at Friday’s WWE Super ShowDown pay-per-view event in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium.

Once fans saw this post, they took to the internet where they looked up some of the harsh comments that Riddle made in 2017 while talking with Sporting News. This was a time where Riddle wasn’t under contract with WWE.

During this interview, Riddle, who is one of WWE’s top prospect and seems destined to be called up to the main roster, was critical of Goldberg for a wide range of reasons.

That includes Goldberg having matches that only lasted for a few minutes because if they last longer then they are bad as well as beating Hulk Hogan in minutes, his push in WCW, and using MMA techniques into his matches.

NXT Star Teasing Raw Appearance

Matt Riddle has been very outspoken about wanting a match against Brock Lesnar since his arrival in NXT and now he is teasing to get involved in Brock’s business.

Paul Heyman recently announced that Brock will be cashing in his Money In The Bank contract on this week’s Raw and after the announcement, Riddle sent out the following tweet, promising to ruin it:

Brock Lesnar made his surprise return to WWE Programming during the main event of Money In The Bank and he went on to win the briefcase guaranteeing him a World title opportunity.

He then spent a couple of weeks teasing a cash in on either of the World Champions but on this week’s Raw, Lesnar learned that he has a whole year to use the contract and so he backed off from announcing his opponent.

After this, Stephanie McMahon released a video saying that the Beast has disrespected both the WWE Universe and the WWE Officials and they will be taking action against him.

In response, Paul Heyman came out and revealed that Brock Lesnar will be cashing in his contract against the Universal Champion Seth Rollins anytime on this week’s episode of Raw. Though Paul didn’t confirm a specific time for the cash in.

Considering that Brock does not have a scheduled match for Super Showdown yet, it’s possible that the whole angle leads to him getting added to the announced Seth Rollins vs. Baron Corbin match at the show.

Matt Riddle Explains Why He Wants To Break & Retire Brock Lesnar

WWE NXT star Matt Riddle has once again called out former WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar for a showdown inside of the squared circle.

This isn’t the first or likely last time that Riddle will challenge “The Beast” to a match under the WWE banner. He did so yet again when talking with The New York Post to promote the NXT TakeOver: XXV event on Saturday.

During this interview, he was asked why retiring Lesnar is important to him. This is is where he noted that it was a goal of his once he saw Lesnar beat The Undertaker at WrestleMania 30 to break Taker’s winning streak at the show.

That’s when Lesnar solidified himself in WWE history just by doing that. He also doesn’t like seeing someone bully other stars from Day 1 as he hates bullies, which is why he competed in MMA.

“And honestly, I want to break him. I want to break him and show the world him break and I want to beat him and I want to be the one because I think I’m the only one who can carry what he’s done and not like he’s carried it but in a better way.”

At the NXT TakeOver: XXV event, Riddle will take on Roderick Strong in a singles match.

Matt Riddle vs. Drew Gulak Set For EVOLVE 131

The first match has been added to the EVOLVE 131 card which will be a memorable night for the promotion.

On Saturday, it was announced that a match between two former EVOLVE wrestlers will take place at this show. That contest is Matt Riddle vs. Drew Gulak.

EVOLVE 131 takes place at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Saturday, July 13 and will serve as EVOLVE/Dragon Gate USA’s 10th anniversary event.

The contest was set up once Gulak issued a challenge at the NXT live event on Friday in Philadelphia, PA at the Fillmore. He announced his open challenge for the anniversary show, which led to Riddle appearing on the video screen and stating to Gulak that he would accept that challenge but also to prepare himself.

https://twitter.com/WWNEVOLVE/status/1129617137969094657

Back in the day, Riddle and Gulak were both members of the Catch Point stable under the EVOLVE banner. Both stars found success in the promotion as Gulak held the EVOLVE Tag Team titles with Tracy Williams while Riddle held both the EVOLVE Championship and WWN Championship.

Gulak last wrestled for EVOLVE in December 2016 as he was later signed to WWE and placed on the 205 Live roster. On the flip side, Riddle signed with WWE and he joined NXT in August 2018.

Matt Riddle Wants To Face Brock Lesnar At WrestleMania 36

All signs are pointing towards Brock Lesnar staying with WWE for the foreseeable future and it appears that NXT Star Matt Riddle wants a piece of the Beast if he is going to stick around.

Riddle recently made a tweet about Lesnar. In the tweet as seen below he mentions the rumors of Brock returning to WWE and says that he will see the former Universal Champion at WrestleMania 36:

It’s worth mentioning that this is not the first time Matt has talked about wanting to face Brock and he has been very vocal about it since his arrival on NXT.

He tweeted about wanting to retire Lesnar early in his NXT career and in a later interview with Jeremy Borash; the NXT Star said that his goal was unchanged.

He had said that he likes to set goals that seem impossible. Continuing on the topic Matt Riddle claimed only one person can end Brock’s career and it’s going to be him:

Though now as we know, Brock Lesnar’s WWE return is not a rumor anymore and the company has announced him for the upcoming Saudi Arabia show on June 7th.

With Brock seemingly being retired from UFC, it doesn’t appear that the former World Champion will be going anywhere else anytime soon and it’d be interesting to see if Riddle actually gets a shot at him sometime in future.

NXT Superstar Wants To Face Kurt Angle at WrestleMania

Kurt Angle recently announced that he would be finishing up his in-ring career at WrestleMania. The bout is being described as a “farewell” match and Angle’s opponent has not yet been named. It was announced by WWE that Angle would be confirming his opponent this Monday on WWE RAW. A statement was released saying the following:

“On Raw, live in his hometown of Pittsburgh, WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle announced and that he would embark on a farewell tour leading to his final match at this year’s WrestleMania. This Monday in Chicago, The Olympic Hero will reveal his opponent for that climactic contest.”

There have been many names bandied around for the upcoming bout. John Cena, Bobby Lashley, Drew McIntyre, Baron Corbin and AJ Styles were specifically mentioned by Angle himself. The current frontrunner appears to be John Cena, however a top NXT Superstar has put his name out there.

The ‘Original Bro’ Matt Riddle took to Twitter and stated that he wants to face Kurt at Mania. Riddle stated that “this is what the fans want and deep down it’s what you need.” If Riddle were to face Kurt at WrestleMania it would easily be the biggest bout of his career. Riddle has mentioned on may occasions that he intends on ‘retiring’ Brock Lesnar, he could easily start with the Olympic Gold Medallist.

Matt Riddle Says NXT Isn’t Watered Down Child’s Product Like WWE Main Roster

WWE NXT star Matt Riddle voiced his opinion on the product that the yellow brand is presenting to their fans compared to what is shown on the main roster through Monday Night RAW and SmackDown Live.

Riddle is still in the early stages of his career with WWE but fans have high hopes for him in their developmental system NXT. It was revealed in August at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn 4 that he had signed with the WWE as he was sitting front row at the show.

While doing an interview with TMZ, Riddle made some interesting comments. It all started once he was asked why the NXT brand is so hot right now, which he responded by stating, “I think we’re just different, and I know that’s easy to say. We’re different, we’re new fresh, and not the same, watered down child’s product that WWE is kind of turned into a lot. When people watch us even though it’s scripted a lot of the time, it’s more real, more believable.”

When asked about a potential move to the main roster, he stated that he wants to get to the main roster but knows that NXT is so hot so maybe he should stay in NXT and try to make it bigger than RAW and SmackDown. Riddle would add that the big thing is that Vince McMahon owns everything and he’s had RAW and SmackDown forever.

“So, I think the probability of NXT taking over at that level is probably hard, but at the same time, I don’t see it too far from the future with us being on the same playing field as RAW and SmackDown.”

Kassius Ohno Promises To “Hurt” Matt Riddle At NXT TakeOver: Phoenix

Royal Rumble takes place this coming Sunday, but the night before will see the NXT roster attempt to steal the show once again. At NXT TakeOver: Phoenix, the knockout artist, Kassius Ohno is looking to settle the score against NXT newcomer, and ‘King of Bros,’ Matt Riddle.

The two have faced off twice already, with Matt Riddle emerging victorious both times. Their first encounter saw Riddle claim the win in just 6 seconds. Their second encounter was a much more competitive affair but ended after Riddle locked in the Bro-mission. Ohno would then assault Riddle post-match, continuing their feud towards this Saturday’s TakeOver.

“I’m Going To Hurt Him”

In a video uploaded to WWE’s YouTube page, Kassius Ohno addresses his opponent, claiming that he’s “not just gonna beat him [Riddle] up, I‘m gonna hurt him.” He also stated that by the end of the night, he will have knocked Riddle out.

“I just want to make sure everybody saw NXT TV last week because that was some must-see TV. I know, personally, I had to run it back 6 or 7 times.

It was almost like something out of Baywatch. You see Matt Riddle cascading his way down the NXT entranceway, in those lemon-lime flip-flops, to make the save on his unlimited BFF. You see, Matt Riddle was mad because I caught Keith Lee slipping. Matt Riddle was real mad. And all that everybody wants to talk to me about is Takeover in Los Angeles,” he said.

“’Kassius, you lost in 6 seconds!’ Well, come Takeover in Phoenix, Matt Riddle is going to wish this match was 6 seconds because I’m going to beat him. I’m not just gonna beat him, I’m gonna beat him up. And I’m not just gonna beat him up, I’m gonna hurt him. And when that bell rings, you know what they’re going to say in the crowd? He’s going to look to his buddy and he’s gonna say, ‘Oh no, Kassius KO’d the Br…’ No, the bum. Kassius KO’d the bum.”

Who do you think will come out on top between these two? Will Kassius knock out Riddle, or will the King Of Bros walk out the victor?

At first, Riddle said, the fans taunted him for coming from an MMA background.

“I remember my first match for EVOLVE, at EVOLVE 49, when I came out, the crowd chanted ‘Baby Lesnar’,” Riddle said. “And then the next night in Long Island the crowd chanted ‘You Can’t Wrestle.'”

Over time, however, Riddle won over the respect of not only fans of EVOLVE but fans from all over the independent scene.

“So I wrestled all over and by the time I got back to where they said I couldn’t wrestle, all they kept chanting was ‘Bro.'”

Matt Riddle Feels He Should Have Been In WWE Years Ago

A large contingent of indie pro wrestling fans would have loved for Matt Riddle amongst the WWE roster years ago.

Turns out The King of Bros feels the same way.

ESPN.com recently released an article that explores the ins and outs of the WWE Performance Center in Florida. During the piece, ESPN interview a number of different superstars and backstage talent, including Matt Riddle.

He discussed his transition from MMA to pro wrestling and the decisions that helped solidify his resolve to commit to sports entertainment.

Matt was candid in his feelings, stating that he felt he should have been a part of the WWE when he had his first try out.

“I moved my family down here, I’ve got three kids and a wife, so it’s nice,” Riddle reflected. “I just wrestle in Florida every weekend. We occasionally do tours or TakeOvers, but for the most part, now I get to spend more time with my family. I’m more local, and it’s great. The training here is top-notch,” he continued. “Where I was, I was lucky to even train three times a week, because my schedule was so insane — and I didn’t have the coaches or amenities to do [much more than that].”

“I just feel like I belong here. I felt like I belonged here three-and-a-half years ago when I had my first try out.”

Riddle first appeared for the WWE in August during their NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn 4 event, where it was revealed he had signed with the company. He made his in-ring debut last month at TakeOver: War Games II, defeating Kassius Ohno in an astounding six seconds.

With so much momentum already behind him, it’ll be fascinating to watch how far this bro will go.
