Michael Elgin Issues Statement On Reports Of His Arrest

Michael Elgin has admitted that he was detained in Japan, but the former ROH star is disputing the claim that it was due to him stealing protein powder.

It all started when the former Impact wrestling star missed a couple of Pro Wrestling Noah events on July 9th and 10th. The statement from the company addressed his absence but didn’t reveal the reason behind it.

A report that came out earlier last week then claimed that Elgin had been arrested for stealing protein powder and that he was still in custody.

The wrestling star initially disputed these claims on Twitter. He then posted a lengthy statement on Facebook earlier today, stating that he didn’t steal anything.

Michael Elgin’s Statement

The Canadian star admitted that he was taken into custody for questioning on an issue. Michael Elgin revealed that he couldn’t inform Noah because the police didn’t allow it:

“I was not deported, I was not banned from the country and I took my originally booked flight of today since my work visa was only valid for 3 months, I arrived in Japan in April. DO THE MATH.

Now, I was indeed questioned about an issue. This did make me unable to let NOAH know I could not appear on 7/9 and 7/10 events.”

Elgin further stated that the police let him go after looking into the issue. If he was guilty of any offense, he would have been held for 2 months awaiting trial.

Michael Elgin has since explained the situation to Noah officials. He has returned to the United States after his work visa expired. You can check out his full statement here.

Updated: Former ROH Star Michael Elgin Arrested In Japan

Former New Japan Pro Wrestling and Ring of Honor star Michael Elgin has been arrested in Japan, according to reports.

The Canadian star was scheduled to compete in Shizuoka on July 10 for Pro Wrestling Noah. The company announced his removal from the show on Twitter, but they didn’t give any reason for the same:

Now Cassidy Haynes of BodySlam.net is reporting that Elgin has actually been arrested. He was apparently arrested last weekend in Japan for stealing protein powder, and he is currently still in Jail

Update: Elgin has responded to these reports on Twitter. He denied the claims that he was charged for anything and revealed that he is returning to Canada to be with his family:

https://twitter.com/MichaelElgin25/status/1548594907748700160

The word going around is that the wrestling star could face up to 5 years in prison. This is unless a deal can be arranged similar to the one Matt Sydal worked out.

Sydal was arrested for possession of cannabis at the Kansai International Airport in Japan in 2016. He worked out a deal where the charges were dropped on the condition that he could never return to Japan again.

This isn’t the first time Michael Elgin has been arrested. The 35-year-old was also arrested back in July 2021 in US for violating a protection order filed by his ex-fiance.

There is no word on what actions Elgin has taken to defend himself. We’ll keep you updated on any development in this story.

Michael Elgin Arrested For Violating Protective Order

Aaron Frobel, better known to wrestling fans as Michael Elgin, has been arrested for violating a protective order. He was arrested on June 29th, 2021.

His ex-fiancée alleges that Elgin violated her protective order as many as 60 times. She filed for the protective order on May 21st.

“I had a plan to leave a few times before but always backed out from fear,” an excerpt of the protective order reads (obtained by WrestlingNewsCo). “Since I left I have received hundreds of phone calls, hundreds of text messages, numerous videos, and suicide threats from him. He has also reached out to my friends and family.”

“Whenever I or someone he has reached out to block him, he uses the free text/calling apps to make a fake number and continues calling and texting. Sometimes saying it is him, sometimes pretending to be other people. I have asked him not to contact me numerous times.”

Elgin’s ex-fiance says she left the home the two shared on April 21st. She stated “I was being abused physically, mentally, verbally, and emotionally.”

Elgin is a former IWGP Intercontinental Champion, NEVER Openweight Champion, and ROH World Champion. Last summer, Impact announced Elgin would no longer appear on their programming. This followed allegations made against him as part of the #SpeakingOut movement.

Michael Elgin Addresses Allegations Against Him

Impact Wrestling has said that Michael Elgin will no longer appear on their programming. This announcement was made in the wake of allegations against Elgin as part of the #SpeakingOut movement. Elgin recently put out a series of Tweets and videos regarding his situation.

“It’s hard and I’ve tried to go about all this the right way and I don’t want to attack people because what has happened in society, not just wrestling, is very just. People who use power or their position to take advantage of others, I’ve never agreed with,” Elgin said in the video.

“Wrestling should be a sanctuary for male, female, Black, white, Asian, straight, gay, trans, it should be a safe place.”

Elgin then mentioned he has sent Impact information about the allegations against him. He has also spoken with an attorney.

“So with that, I sent Impact all my info of what accusations were made and I have sent it to an attorney. If things don’t get sorted, I don’t want to post these online.”

Elgin then released the following Tweets regarding the allegations made against him earlier today:

Michael Elgin Gone From Future Impact Wrestling Shows

Impact Wrestling made an announcement today regarding the future of Michael Elgin. The company announced Elgin was being suspended earlier this week in the wake of allegations made against him as part of the #SpeakingOut movement.

Impact stated they were suspending Elgin as they sought to investigate the claims against him further. The promotion has now announced that he will not be appearing on any future Impact shows. A statement at the company website reads:

“IMPACT Wrestling has announced that Michael Elgin will not be appearing in any further IMPACT Wrestling programming.”

It is notable that Impact has not announced Elgin has been released. The company has simply stated he will not be appearing on any further programming. He was not featured in any meaningful way on Tuesday’s show beyond possibly having been in some highlight packages.

Elgin had been scheduled to participate in the 5-way match at Slammiversary for the Impact World Championship. That match has now had two participants removed as the company announced Tessa Blanchard’s contract had been terminated yesterday. Impact has also terminated the contracts of Dave Crist and Joey Ryan recently in the wake of allegations against both.

Elgin debuted for Impact at the Rebellion PPV from Toronto on April 28th, 2019. He also performs with Pro Wrestling NOAH in Japan. His last match for the promotion was their January 5th, 2020 show from Korakuen Hall.

Impact Releases Joey Ryan & Dave Crist, Suspends Michael Elgin

Impact Wrestling has released a statement regarding 3 members of its roster. In the wake of numerous allegations of sexual misconduct, the promotion has fired Joey Ryan. Impact has also announced that it has released Dave Crist. The former member of OVE was also accused recently as part of the #SpeakingOut movement but was already on his way out of the promotion.

Impact has also announced they have suspended Michael Elgin pending a further investigation into claims made against him.

Furthermore, Joey Ryan’s match has reportedly been edited out of tonight’s Impact show on AXS TV and Twitch. Ryan and Cancel Culture were scheduled to take on Crazzy Steve and two mystery partners. Elgin had been scheduled to participate in the 5-way world title match at Slammiversary. It is unclear if he will still be in the match, however.

Impact released the following statement regarding Ryan, Crist and Elgin:

“IMPACT Wrestling confirms that it has terminated its contracts with Dave Crist and Joey Ryan, effective immediately. In addition, it has suspended Michael Elgin pending further review of allegations of misconduct,” reads the promotion’s statement.

Impact Wrestling Lineup

The promotion continues its build to Slammiversary tonight. In the wake Joey Ryan’s match being edited off of tonight’s show, only the following two matches are scheduled:

  • Susie (Su Yung) vs Taya Valkyrie
  • Willie Mack, Cody Deaner & Cousin Jake vs Chris Bey, Johnny Swinger & TBD

Impact’s Parent Company Issues Statement On Recent Allegations

Anthem Sports and Entertainment has released a statement regarding recent allegations made against several members of their roster. In the wake of the #SpeakingOut hashtag on Twitter, several wrestlers have been called out for inappropriate conduct.

The statement sent to media reads as follows:

“It is a core value of the Anthem organization that we conduct our business with respect and integrity, providing a safe and secure work environment for our employees and performers. We are following carefully the various allegations being made through social media, and are reviewing all incidents involving Impact Wrestling talent and personnel to determine an appropriate course of action.”

#SpeakingOut Movement

For the last two days, several wrestlers have been speaking out about sexual misconduct and other offenses rampant in pro-wrestling. They are using the #SpeakingOut hashtag on Twitter.

Former Impact Wrestling referee, Kris Levin (aka Kid Ref) also posted a statement online. According to Levin, he was released from his position with Impact shortly after making statements to a 3rd party regarding an investigation into sexual harassment. He also noted that the company “ghosted” him after the meeting. TNA World Champion Moose then issued a response.

His statement is as follows:

Moose then replied to Levin’s Tweet:

Impact Wrestling 5/19 Quick Results:

  1. #1 Contenders Tournament (1st Round)
    Ace Austin defeated Rhino
  2. Crazzy Steve defeated Dave Crist
  3. TJP & Fallah Bah defeated Team XXXL (Ace Romero & Larry D)
  4. TNA World Championship
    Moose (c) defeated Suicide
  5. X-Division Championship
Willie Mack (c) defeated Johnny Swinger
  6. #1 Contenders Tournament (1st Round)
    Michael Elgin defeated Sami Callihan

Michael Elgin Defeats Sami Callihan, Advances In Tournament

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FizqJHpRNNs

The main event of Impact this week saw Michael Elgin go up against Sami Callihan in the 1st round of the #1 Contenders tournament. It was a rough draw for each wrestler to get in the 1st round. Callihan came into this match at a disadvantage, however. After Ken Shamrock caused Sami to pass out at Rebellion in the ankle lock, it became clear the injury has not fully healed yet and that was a factor in this match.

Elgin didn’t shy away from focussing on his opponent’s injured ankle but Sami fought back. Ultimately, Callihan stumbled on his injured leg after escaping a power bomb attempt by Elgin and this allowed Elgin to capitalize and land a sit-down power bomb for the win. Elgin will go on to meet Trey in the semi-finals.

Moose Defends “His” TNA Championship, Josh Matthews Having None Of It

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=htmuO44TtE0

We saw more highlights this week of a sit-down interview between Josh Matthews and Moose. Matthews made no secret of the fact that Moose is only a self-proclaimed holder of the TNA World title. Moose did not respond kindly to Matthews’ expression of this fact.

Moose needed to resort to underhanded tactics to score a second-straight victory over Suicide this week. This time, as Suicide landed a crossbody block from the top rope, Moose’s momentum landed him on top of Suicide in a pinning position. Moose then grabbed a handful of trunks and got the 3-count to defend “his” TNA World Title.

Moose continued to insist that he be announced as the TNA World Champion and that the referee hold up the title before the match.

Ace Austin Advances In Tournament

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gocxmhG9zUM

Ace Austin was named as a last-minute replacement for an injured Ken Shamrock in the tournament. The former X-Division Champion was in tough in the 1st round of the tournament but much like he did throughout his title reign, Austin was able to find away to escape with a victory.

In this match, Austin would use his baton to hit Rhino with while the referee’s attention was averted. With the win, Austin will go on to face Hernandez in the semi-finals of the tournament.

Johnny Swinger & Chris Bey Attack Willie Mack

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tD6Wl3K_Xzw

In Johnny Swinger’s mind, he and Willie Mack used to form a tag-team called “the Mack and Pack Connection.” Once Mack won the X-division title, Swinger started calling for a title shot against him. Chris Bey was shown speaking with Swinger in the back before the match and it appears an alliance between the two is brewing.

At one point in the match, Swinger hit a swinging neck breaker and Mack only kept his title by getting his foot on the rope. Swinger thought he’d won the match and the title but it was not the case. Mack would pick up the victory with a Samoan Drop followed by a standing moonsault.

After the match, however, Chris Bey hit the ring and he and Swinger attacked Mack and left him laying.

Madman Fulton Quits OVE

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wFU2rUdz6Es

The returning Crazzy Steve picked up a victory this week in single’s action. He landed a diving DDT on Dave Crist for the win. Joey Ryan came out to watch Steve in action this week after the two had a bit of an altercation in the back last week. Ryan feels Steve’s name is “offensive to crazy people.”

The other members of OVE, Madman Fulton and Jake Crist were at ringside but after the match Madman Fulton let it be known he’d had enough of being in the faction. Fulton grabbed both Crist brothers by the neck and proclaimed that he quit. It looks like OVE really is over now, as Sami Callihan and Madman Fulton have left, leaving just the Crist brothers on their own.

Kiera Hogan & Tasha Steelz Form An Alliance

Tasha Steelz was recently signed to a contract with Impact Wrestling. She lost a single’s match to Kylie Rae last week. This week she was approached by Kiera Hogan in the back and the two came to an understanding on a new alliance.

Steelz is a 5-year pro who has competed for ROH, NWA, Warrior Wrestling and many other promotions. Last summer, she challenged Kelly Klein for the WOH title on the ROH Summer Supercard in Toronto. Steelz was also featured prominently recently on episodes of NWA Powerrr. Now it looks like Steelz will be joining forces with Kiera Hogan in Impact Wrestling.

Next Week On Impact Wrestling

Next weak on Impact Wrestling, the semi-finals of the #1 Contenders tournament will take place. Trey will take on Michael Elgin and Hernandez will take on Ace Austin. Also next week, the North will take on Cody Deaner and a partner as all 3 are in Ontario, Canada and unable to travel to tapings. Kimber Lee and Havok will also rematch after Lee picked up a victory in their first tilt by way of using a pair of brass knuckles.

  1. #1 Contenders Tournament (Semi-Finals)
    Ace Austin vs Hernandez
  2. #1 Contenders Tournament (Semi-Finals)
    Michael Elgin vs Trey
  3. The North vs Cody Deaner & TBD
  4. Kimber Lee vs Havok

Michael Elgin Says He Doesn’t Like Wrestling Anymore

Recently on Impact Wrestling, Michael Elgin has been chasing the Impact World Championship. He’s involved in a #1 contenders tournament which kicked off this week. According to Elgin, however, he’s not happy with where the pro-wrestling industry is at the moment.

Elgin took to Twitter to explain his issues with wrestling today.

“I legit don’t like wrestling anymore. Everyone is so soft. Everyone let’s outsiders or “fans” dictate how we should be. I’m just staying off here, so called wrestlers have turned to nothing but a mockery of how people and wrestling should be. I don’t like hating my profession,” Elgin Tweeted.

Elgin would clarify, however, that his Tweets are in-character.

Michael Elgin In Impact Wrestling

Elgin is one of the top heels in Impact Wrestling at the moment. He was scheduled to face Eddie Edwards and Tessa Blanchard for the world title at Rebellion before the pandemic hit. Neither Edwards or Blanchard was able to attend the recent tapings in Tennessee. As a result, Elgin was placed in a #1 contenders tournament. Moose has since declared himself the TNA World Champion as well. Elgin is scheduled to face Sami Callihan in the 1st round of the #1 Contenders tournament next week.

Impact Wrestling Results & 9 Takeaways (4/7/20)

Impact Wrestling presented a show on AXS TV and Twitch last night. The show emanated from the Coca-Cola Roxy from Atlanta, GA. The main event for the show was a tag team title match with the North defending against Tessa Blanchard & Eddie Edwards.

Impact Wrestling 4/7/20 Quick Results:

  1. 2-on-1: Willie Mack defeated Reno Scum
  2. Chris Bey defeated Daga
  3. Havok defeated Madison Rayne
  4. Rhino & Tommy Dreamer defeated Dave & Jake Crist (OVE)
  5. Impact Tag Team Championships
The North (c) defeated Tessa Blanchard & Eddie Edwards

Here are 9 takeaways from Impact Wrestling 4/7/20:

Tessa Blanchard Refuses To Tag Eddie Edwards, Michael Elgin Attacks

After Eddie Edwards and Tessa Blanchard were forced to align last week in order to fend off the North, the two were granted a shot at the tag titles this week. With Tessa scheduled to defend the world title against both Eddie Edwards and Michael Elgin in a triple threat match at Rebellion, however, she was a little hesitant to trust Eddie too much.

The end of the match came when Tessa hesitated to tag in Edwards and it allowed the North to hit their burning hammer into a spinebuster finishing move for the win.

After the match, Michael Elgin hit the ring and took out Tessa Blanchard with an Elgin bomb and stood tall with the world title belt to close the show.

Ken Shamrock Is Searching For Sami Callihan

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qZ8yMxp7vho

Previously on Impact Wrestling, Sami Callihan was revealed as the hacker behind the ICU videos. He also delivered a fireball to Shamrock’s face. This week, Jimmy Jacobs interviewed Shamrock who detailed the impacts of Sami’s attack. The lights in the room began to flicker and Shamrock stated he knew who was behind it. The MMA legend and future Impact Hall-of-Famer then stormed off in search of Callihan.

Madman Fulton Takes Out Some Extreme Legends

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNQKUANlPEc

Rhino and Tommy Dreamer defeated the Crist brothers this week after Rhino hit a Gore on former X-Division champion Jake Crist. After the match, Madman Fulton (who had been ejected from ringside during the match) returned and attacked both Rhino and Tommy Dreamer as the other members of OVE helped. On commentary, it was noted that the 3 members of OVE are lost without the leadership of Sami Callihan. Fulton and the Crists stood tall over a flattened Tommy Dreamer to end the segment.

“Susie” Drops Match To Kiera Hogan

Su Yung’s less murderous persona “Susie” faced Kiera Hogan this week in single’s competition. While Susie kept pace with Hogan throughout the match, a mistake she made would end up costing her. Susie reached for the bloody glove that Su Yung normally uses to apply the mandible claw but said glove was not there. This allowed Hogan to hit a swinging fisherman suplex for the win.

The win for Hogan helps her build momentum heading into Rebellion when she’ll face the newly signed Kylie Rae.

Havok Destroys Madison Rayne

For much of this episode, Madison Rayne was on commentary with Josh Matthews. For one segment, however, she wrestled Havok who is fresh off having stabbed James Mitchell to death in the undead realm. Havok caught Madison with a tombstone piledriver to pick up the win.

Johnny Swinger To Face “Young Buck” M. Jackson Next Week

Johnny Swinger appeared in a video this week with Rosemary. The two were in a bar where Rosemary was scouting souls to steal. Swinger approached Rosemary and said she could steal his soul or take him anywhere if she has a car. Rosemary explained that “the Valkyrie” would never let her live it down if she did anything with him, however. Swinger also said during this interaction that he’ll be taking on a “Young Buck” with the name “M Jackson” next week.

Chris Bey Steals Victory From Daga

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6sLhGrQtJw

After a fast-paced match between Daga and Chris Bey, the newcomer to the promotion grabbed the ropes during a pinning attempt to get the 3-count. While the win helps the 24-year-old move up the rankings, he showed this week he’s not afraid to bend the rules to pick up a victory.

Willie Mack Defeats Reno Scum, Attacked By Ace Austin

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qywrfND6Upg

Last week on Impact Wrestling, Reno Scum attacked an injured Rich Swann during an interview segment. This week Willie Mack took on and defeated both members of the team in the opening match of the night. After the match, however, the X-Division champion snuck up behind Mack and delivered a vicious kick to the head. The members of Reno Scum then held Mack as Austin hit his finishing move “the Fold” on him to end the segment.

Next Week On Impact Wrestling

Here is what is scheduled for next week’s episode:

  • Ken Shamrock and Sami Callihan contract signing
  • Tenille Dashwood vs Taya Valkyrie
  • Johnny Swinger vs M. Jackson
  • Hernandez vs Rohit Raju

Impact Wrestling Results & 9 Takeaways (1/28/20)

Impact Wrestling was back in Frontenac, Mexico this week for another edition of its weekly television program. They were also back on Twitch this week as the ban caused by Rob Van Dam’s celebrations with his girlfriend and girlfriend’s girlfriend has been lifted.

Impact Wrestling 1/28/20 Quick Results:

  1. Vikingo defeated Josh Alexander w/Ethan Page
  2. Dez & Wentz (the Rascalz) defeated Pagano & Murder Clown
  3. Moose defeated Taurus
  4. #1 Contender for Knockouts Championship: Jordynne Grace defeated Madison Rayne vs Kiera Hogan
  5. Daga & Dr. Wagner Jr. defeated Reno Scum
  6. Best of 5 Series (Match 1): Michael Elgin defeated Eddie Edwards (Elgin leads 1-0)

Here are 9 takeaways from Impact Wrestling 1/28/20:

Michael Elgin Takes Early Lead In Series Against Eddie Edwards

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LIPLAvNEZUg

Michael Elgin really feels cheated by the referee’s decision at Hard to Kill. Elgin feels Edwards tapped to his crossface during their single’s match but he was really just reaching for the ropes when his hand hit the mat. Regardless, Elgin feels he should have been awarded Edwards’ Call Your Shot trophy. They met in this week’s main event in the first of their best-of-5-series.

Elgin would score the first victory in the series, choking out his rival after delivering a Death Valley Driver from the top rope.

Jordynne Grace Earns A Title Shot Against Taya Valkyrie

Jordynne Grace picked up the win in a triple threat match against Kiera Hogan and Madison Rayne this week that has earned her a shot at Taya Valkyrie’s Knockouts Championship. Hogan and Rayne had made a deal with Valkyrie that one of them would get the next title shot but Grace inserted herself into the picture as well.

Rayne and Hogan attempted to work together during the match but their combined efforts simply were not enough to stop the streaking Grace. She has come up short when challenging Taya before but Grace seems as though she’s really hit her stride lately and could provide more of a challenge than before.

Joey Ryan Responds To Rob Van Dam

Joey Ryan was interviewed backstage this week. He commented on Rob Van Dam’s criticism of him from last week. RVD said that Ryan’s match against Maximo last week made him feel embarrassed to be a wrestler.

Ryan then said this week that he doesn’t think it was his match against Maximo that got RVD all upset, he thinks Katie Forbes wants to touch “it” and that is why Rob said what he said. It seems as though these two could face-off against one another soon.

Rosemary To Turn “Suzie” Into A Warrior

Last week, Suzie wandered off away from James Mitchell during a match between Rosemary and Havok. Rosemary approached Suzie in the back this week and told her she thinks she can turn her into a real warrior. Suzie seemed to like this idea so Rosemary challenged her to an exhibition match next week and then handed her some wrestling gear before Suzie just sort of wandered off again.

Moose Gets Revenge On Taurus, Rhino Gets Revenge On Him

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pnZyooPrHEw

Last week on Impact Wrestling, Taurus won a triple threat match against Moose and Rhino. This week Moose and Taurus went one-on-one. After Taurus missed a running strike into the post, Moose landed the No Jackhammer Needed spear and picked up the win.

After the match, Rhino ran out from the back and delivered a Gore to Moose. It looks as though this rivalry between these two heavyweight contenders will continue.

OVE Assaults Daga & Dr. Wagner Jr

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2KSG6Tbkt-0

Daga teamed up with Dr. Wagner Jr this week in victorious fashion over Reno Scum. After the match, however, the members of OVE minus Sami Callihan attacked. They would even beat up Wagner Jr. in front of his own son who was at ringside and was forced to witness the events by Reno Scum.

Vikingo Defeats Josh Alexander In Fast-Paced Opener

Vikingo certainly opted to make the most of his opening match on Impact Wrestling this week against Josh Alexander from the North. This was a really interesting style mash-up as Vikingo has a high-flying Lucha style and Alexander’s offense is heavy on suplexes and amateur wrestling moves.

After several exciting exchanges between the two, Vikingo pulled off the mild upset with a head-scissors into a pinning combination.

It was later announced that Vikingo will face TJP next week.

The Rascalz Defeat Their Peyote-Induced Clown Hallucinations

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ddEtwLzTsSc

Last week on Impact, the Rascalz were shown in the back taking peyote. Things were going fine until Pagano and Murder Clown sat down. This week, the Rascalz were forced to face their fears when they met the two stars from AAA in tag-team action.

As frightened as they were, Dez and Wentz managed to pull off the victory with some unique double-team offense. The next set of tapings for Impact is in Nevada, where the Rascalz will likely go back to what they are accustomed to.

Next Week

Here are the matches, Impact Wrestling has scheduled for next week’s episode:

  • Rosemary vs Suzie
  • Tessa Blanchard responds to Ace Austin (Austin was bragging about having beaten her twice.
  • Vikingo vs TJP
  • Daga & Dr. Wagner Jr. vs OVE

Michael Elgin Shares Why His Bound For Glory Match Against Naomichi Marafuji Is So Important To Him

Ahead of his matchup against Naomichi Marajufi at Impact Wrestling’s Bound for Glory event, Michael Elgin has shared the personal importance the match has to him.

Taking to Twitter, Elgin wrote about his love for Japanese wrestling since watching AJPW for the first time in 1992. This passion drove him as a child to perform in Japan. Elgin made his Japanese debut in 2003 but still dreamed of wrestling for Pro Wrestling NOAH. In particular, he wanted to face one man: Marafuji.

He recalled how they were originally meant to wrestle in 2013, but an injury prevented Marafuji from competing that night. For him, it doesn’t matter that their bout isn’t for a championship or the main event of Bound for Glory. Elgin promised that the quality of the match will make it the main event of the night and will be the match people talk about on their way home.

Impact Wrestling’s Bound for Glory pay-per-view takes place on October 20th from the Odeum Expo Center in Villa Park, Illinois.

Bound For Glory Card

At the time of writing, the following is the current Bound for Glory card:

  • Impact World Championship Match
Brian Cage (c) vs Sami Callihan
  • Ken Shamrock vs Moose
  • Michael Elgin vs Naomichi Marafuji
  • The Rascalz (Dezmond Xavier, Trey Miguel and Zachary Wentz) vs Dr. Wagner Jr., TBA and TBA.

9 Takeaways From Impact Wrestling 8/30

Impact Wrestling was back in Mexico City this week for the first episode from the most recent tapings. The timing couldn’t be better as the promotion announced yesterday that they will now be co-promoting AAA’s upcoming event at the Hulu Theatre inside Madison Square Garden.

Here are 9 takeaways from Impact Wrestling 8/30:

Michael Elgin Beats Rhino In Falls Count Anywhere Match

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bGdayP2ylYA

After a double countout ended their last match, Elgin and Rhino were scheduled for a Falls Count Anywhere match in this week’s main event. After brawling all around the arena, Rhino missed a Gore and crashed through a table, allowing Elgin to hit a sit-down power-bomb and pick up the win.

Tenille Dashwood Wants Taya Valkyrie’s Knockouts Title

Taya Valkyrie defeated AAA’s Big Mami to retain her Impact Knockouts title this week but a new contender emerged shortly after. As Taya chases the longest reigning Knockouts champion record, Dashwood is wasting no time letting Impact know she’s going right for the title. She took down Taya but John E Bravo made the save, allowing Taya to escape. Bravo took a dropkick to the face for his troubles, however.

Valkyrie really is pretty close to breaking the longest single-reign in Knockouts title history. She is scheduled to tie the actual record on October 12th. In storyline, however, the record is 239 days.

  • Taryn Terrell 279 days – 2014-15
  • Rosemary 266 days – 2016-17
  • Taya Valkyrie 237+ (current)
  • Gail Kim – 232 days – 2015-16

Moose Calls Ken Shamrock An “Attention W**re”

Moose and Ken Shamrock are building toward a likely clash at the promotion’s tapings in Las Vegas next month. Shamrock is promoting his new bare-knuckled MMA promotion Valor BK. This week Moose cut a promo in the back saying Shamrock is only seeking attention.

Fallah Bah then cut in and challenged Moose to another match between the two for next week.

Impromptu Trios Match In Mexico City

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bj_O8u4a7Y8

A tag team match ended in a disqualification this week after Kiera Hogan and Madison Rayne teamed up to beat up Jordynne Grace on the outside. Impact officials then made a trios match official between Jordynne Grace, Rosemary, and Chik Tormenta against Vanilla, Kiera Hogan, and Madison Rayne.

Rayne and Hogan, who only get along when they have someone else to team up against, left Vanilla by herself in the ring, allowing Rosemary to pick up the win for her team.

Willie Mack & Rich Swann Moving Up The Tag Rankings

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_3Ye3fy8B0

Willie Mack and Rich Swann teamed up this week to defeat Dez and Wentz from the Rascalz. Mack and Swann have teamed up frequently since Mack signed with Impact but it looks like they could be making a full-time move to the tag division now that Swann is no longer X-Division champion. A win over the Rascalz, who challenged for the tag belts multiple times this summer, is a big win for Mack and Swann.

LAX Put Their Impact Careers On The Line

The North invaded LAX’s clubhouse this week, stating that it should belong to them. An enraged Ortiz then put LAX’s Impact Wrestling careers on the line in a title match against Josh Alexander and Ethan Page. That match will take place next week.

Golden Magic Picks Up The Win

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3eT4gqjO5ag

Impact Wrestling kicked off with a high-energy 4-way match last night. Golden Magic picked up the win with a 450 splash on Trey but at the same time TJP had Taurus locked in a submission. He would argue that Taurus was about to tap after the match and then stared down Golden Magic. So we could see TJP and Golden Magic in a one-on-one match sometime before Impact leaves Mexico.

Ace Austin Chases Muggers Into the Ocean

Ace Austin was shown on the beach this week with Alisha Edwards. He was about to admit to Alisha his feelings for her when a pair of muggers attempted to steal Alisha’s bag. The brazen muggers were not fazed by the presence of a camera on the beach. Austin chased one of the muggers into the ocean and then proceeded to walk back to the beach in slow-motion.

Alisha thanked Austin but then said she had to go. Shortly after, it was revealed that Reno Scum were the muggers and Austin had hired them to take Alisha’s bag.

Next Week on Impact Wrestling

Several big matches were booked for next week’s episode:

  • Moose vs Fallah Bah
  • Su Yung vs Havok
  • Madman Fulton vs Rob Van Dam
  • Update on Brian Cage’s World Title reign
  • Impact Tag Team Championships: The North (c) vs LAX (LAX have put their Impact careers on the line.)

10 Takeaways From Impact Wrestling 8/23

Impact Wrestling this week took place from California for Cali Combat as it was filmed during the promotion’s recent 3-day tour of the state. The promotion will head to Mexico City next week. This week’s episode was headlined by a No DQ match between Tommy Dreamer and Sami Callihan.

Here are 10 takeaways from Impact Wrestling 8/23:

Ken Shamrock Is Returning To Impact Wrestling/Feuding With Moose

Ken Shamrock is returning to Impact Wrestling from September 5-6 in Las Vegas. His return was mentioned frequently by Melissa Santos during commercial breaks on Twitch. It looks as though Shamrock, who is promoting his new bare-knuckled MMA promotion, will be moving into a rivalry with Moose.

Sami Callihan Beats Tommy Dreamer, Ends Show Standing Tall Over Tessa Blanchard

Callihan is owed a world title match as a result of his victory over Tessa Blanchard at Unbreakable. He got the win over Tommy Dreamer in this week’s main event after delivering a piledriver on top of a wood board. Callihan looked to continue the beat-down of Dreamer after the match but Tessa Blanchard made the save. Jake Crist then ran from the back and hit Blanchard from behind, allowing Sami to hit Tessa with a piledriver and end the show standing tall.

Rhino and Michael Elgin Brawl To A Double Count-Out

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ThRyilzvFKM

Rhino and Michael Elgin’s rivalry has been building since Slammiversary. This week, the two rivals were too distracted with brawling on the outside to notice the referee’s count. They were both counted-out as a result.

Security was needed to separate the two big men but the brawl would continue in the back as well. Later in the night, it was announced the two will face each other again next week in Mexico. To prevent another count-out, however, it will be a Falls Count Anywhere match.

Taya Valkyrie – Longest Running Knockouts Champion?

Taya Valkyrie stood at a podium and delivered a somewhat statistically-challenged promo this week. Valkyrie is saying that she will soon pass the record for longest single-reign of the Knockouts title at 238 days. It’s not entirely clear where the 238-days number is coming from but she’s not far from breaking the actual record.

Here are the longest single reigns of the Knockouts title according to the wrestling-statistics website, Cagematch.net.

  • Taryn Terrell 279 days – 2014-15
  • Rosemary 266 days – 2016-17
  • Gail Kim – 232 days – 2015-16
  • Taya Valkyrie 230+ (current)

Taya reacted on Twitter to a fan mentioning Wikipedia also has the longest Knockouts title reign at 279 days:

Regardless, Taya promised to defend her title in Mexico City next week against someone new. In storyline, if she wins, she’ll pass the record for longest reiginging Knockouts champion.

Tenille Dashwood Says Taya Valkyrie Should Get Ready For Her

A short backstage promo featuring Tenille Dashwood was shown this week. Dashwood said she doesn’t plan on starting at the bottom of the Knockouts division and will be gunning right for Taya Valkyrie.

Jake Crist Pulls Tights, Retains Title Against Rich Swann

The X-Division champion Jake Crist defeated the former champion to retain his title this week. The OVE member pulled off the victory only after grabbing ahold of Swann’s trunks, however.

The North Defend Tag Titles Against Reno Scum

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K41NOsvqlLA

Josh Alexander and Ethan Page put out a challenge to any team from the west coast to meet them this week. Reno Scum answered the call but it would be the champions who would pull out the victory in the end. The North don’t plan on losing the tag belts anytime soon.

Havok Destroys Alisha & Eddie Edwards

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sNhAkOXtqYE

Havok defeated Alisha Edwards in single’s competition this week. Alisha’s loss brought out Ace Austin, who has been making advances toward Eddie’s wife, to comfort her. Eddie came out to confront Ace but ran into Havok, who gave him a chokeslam for his trouble. This allowed Austin to leave with Alisha.

Su Yung Talks In Unknown Language Again

Su Yung cut another promo after Havok’s match last night. Once again, the promo was in no known language. It’s possible Yung’s promos are being played backwards. A devoted fan could probably even decipher them.

Willie Mack Defeated Trey

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZnV6C9uTY-8

Trey from The Rascalz pulled out all the stops this week trying to defeat Willie Mack. In the end, a dive off the top rope was countered into a stunner and Mac picked up the victory, however.

Quick Results:

  1. Rhino vs Michael Elgin – double-count out
  2. Impact Tag Team Championships: the North (c) defeated Reno Scum
  3. Havok defeated Alisha Edwards
  4. X-Division Championship: Jake Crist (c) defeated Rich Swann
  5. Willie Mack defeated Trey
  6. No Disqualification Match: Sami Callihan defeated Tommy Dreamer

10 Takeaways From Impact Wrestling 8/9

Impact Wrestling presented a taped show last night from Windsor, ON, Canada. The show was headlined by a tag team title match between the North and Daga and Ortiz.

Here are 10 takeaways from Impact Wrestling 8/9:

Daga To Carry On LAX Legacy?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jiJd-w_X9KQ

Daga joined Ortiz as Santana’s replacement in LAX this week. The pair accompanied by Konnan would challenge Josh Alexander and Ethan Page, who defeated Ortiz and Santana for the belts at Bash at the Brewery last month.

The North pulled off the win and retained their titles. There was no under-handed tactics here, the North had the experience edge over Daga and Ortiz and used it to their advantage. Despite the loss, Ortiz led the crowd in a chant for Daga, who looks like he could be carrying on the LAX legacy moving forward.

Tessa Blanchard Reflects On Loss To Sami Callihan

Blanchard had Sami Callihan beaten at Unbreakable. She hit him with 3 straight Magnums, one from a standing position, then from the second rope, and finally again from the top rope. Ultimately, Callihan’s run-in buddies from OVE saved the match for Callihan and stopped Blanchard from earning a title shot.

This week, Blanchard cut a promo saying she thought it would be one-on-one at Unbreakable and that she is not done with Sami.

The Rascalz Were Excited To Have Rob Van Dam In Their Clubhouse

Rob Van Dam visited the Rascalz clubhouse this week. The trio could not contain themselves and ended up demonstrating RVD’s moves on each other.

Here is some of what they had to say about RVD before he entered the room:

  • “I hear he can roll inside a $1 bill,” Trey said.
  • “I heard he sweats CBD oil,” Wentz added.
  • “I heard he can roll his armpit must,” Trey also said.

Brian Cage Injury Update

Melissa Santos provided an injury update on Brian Cage this week. Santos let us know that Cage has been dealing with an injury in his back and hip. Santos said there is no timetable for Cage’s return as they don’t know exactly where his injury is coming from.

Jimmy Jacobs conducted the interview and asked Santos what will happen if Cage can’t defend the title. Santos said there are more important things than championships and money.

Su Yung Crashes Havok’s Title Shot

Havok should be Knockouts champion but twice now she’s unfairly come away from a title match without the belt. At Unbreakable last week on Impact plus, Taya bailed on a title defence and retained via count-out. This week Su Yung interrupted the match just when Havok look like she had the champ beat. It looks as though the undead bride and Havok are on a collision course.

Jake Crist Defends X-Division Title

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nHV1K2k8EVU

This week of Impact Wrestling kicked off with Jake Crist successfully defending his X-Division championship. He defeated local talent Aiden Prince who’d won a #1 contenders match to earn the shot.

An interesting question might be what Sami Callihan is thinking in regards to Crist’s title reign. Callihan seems a little jealous that Jake was able do beat Swann for the belt when he wasn’t able to.

Jordynne Grace Sets Her Sights On Madison Rayne & Kiera Hogan

Alexia Nicole, local talent from Toronto, had a shot to defeat a multi-time former Knockouts champion this week when she took on Madison Rayne. Ultimately, it would be Rayne who would pick up the victory while Kiera Hogan was on commentary. According to Hogan, she’s the one teaching Rayne to be more aggressive lately. The two women argued after the match but then joined forces to take their aggression out on Nicole. This led to Jordynne Grace running in and making the save.

The storyline with Rayne and Hogan appears to be that they don’t get along but will team up to take out others in the division. Callis said they don’t get along unless they are bullying someone else together.

Rhino and Michael Elgin Brawl In Windsor

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSgRwYTE2JI

Rhino gored both Stone Rockwell and Nate Madsen this week. Rockwell attempted to appease the man-beast with food but it didn’t work. Rhino then cut a promo calling out Michael Elgin leading to a brawl between the two.

Moose and Fallah Bah Brawl In Catering

Fallah Bah has lost over a hundred pounds but he’s gained an enemy in Moose. This week, we saw Moose attack Bah while he was eating and a brawl breaking out between the two at catering. Moose was upset at Bah’s recent victory over him last week. A rematch between the two is likely in the works.

Eddie Edwards Disqualified Against Ace Austin

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-flk5mwGKNI

Eddie Edwards couldn’t control his temper in his match against Ace Austin this week. Austin has been seen in the back trying to impress Eddie’s wife Alicia with magic tricks. This week Edwards would not stop beating on Austin and the ref called for the bell.

Alicia Edwards ran out and tried to stop Eddie but when Eddie asked Alicia if she was with Austin, she didn’t give an answer. Later in the show, Austin was heard telling people in the back he was going to sleep with Eddie’s wife.

Quick Results:

  1. X-Division Championship
Jake Crist (c) defeated Aiden Prince
  2. Ace Austin defeated Eddie Edwards via DQ
  3. Madison Rayne defeated Alexia Nicole
  4. Knockouts Championship
Taya Valkyrie (c) vs Havok – No Contest
  5. Stone Rockwell vs Nate Madsen – No Contest
  6. Impact Tag Team Championships
The North (c) defeated LAX (Daga & Ortiz)

Next Week:

8 Takeaways From Impact Wrestling 8/2

Impact Wrestling presented two shows last night. Impact Unbreakable was presented on the Impact Plus streaming app while their normal weekly television show aired on Twitch, Pursuit, and the promotion’s international broadcast partners.

Here are 8 takeaways from Impact Wrestling 8/2:

The North Retain, Attacked By Ortiz and Daga In The Back

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KfRUfacaj68

The North defeated the Rascalz to retain the tag titles in this week’s main event. It looked as though Trey and Dez had the belts won at one point by Page pulled the referee out of the ring before the 3 count could be made. The North then gained the advantage and pulled off the win.

After the match, however, Ortiz attacked both members of the tag team champions in the back as he yelled that those titles don’t belong to them. With Santana injured, however, Alexander and Page were able to gain the advantage on Ortiz. Daga would then make the save with Konnan along with him.

Next week Daga and Ortiz will challenge for the tag titles.

Tessa Blanchard and Tommy Dreamer Stand Tall Over OVE

Tessa Blanchard and Madman Fulton had a singles match this week waved off after interference from Tommy Dreamer. Fulton was about to use a chair on Blanchard when Dreamer made the save.

After the match was thrown out, Blanchard got a hold of a kendo stick and wailed on Fulton for a bit before she and Dreamer teamed up to throw him out of the ring.

As this was airing, Impact was also in Santa Ana, California for Unbreakable. Callihan and Blanchard would headline the show.

Melissa Santos To Provide Update On Brian Cage Next Week

Jimmy Jacobs was shown on the doorstep of Melissa Santos and Brian Cage’s residence this week. Santos answered the door and Jacobs asked for a medical update on Cage’s condition. Santos said she would sit down with Jacobs next week and answer any questions he has but that her and Brian are looking for privacy at the moment.

Aiden Prince Earns X-Division Title Shot

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hcaOnqvdI2o

The hometown kid Aiden Prince pulled off a big victory to kick off this week’s episode of Impact Wrestling. He won a 6-way match to earn a shot at Jake Crist’s X-Division title against Wentz, Rohit Raju, Petey Williams, Chuck Mambo and Cody Deaner.

It’s the biggest opportunity to date in Impact for the Windsor-based wrestler in the promotion. He’ll face Jake Crist for the belt next week.

Sami Callihan Jealous of Jake Crist?

After Aiden Prince won the X-Division contendership match, a backstage segment featuring OVE was shown. Callihan did give some credit to Jake for winning the X-Division title from Rich Swann (which Jake noted was something Callihan couldn’t do) but there appears to be some tension building within OVE and possibly some jealousy on Callihan’s part.

Su Yung Sends A Message To Havok

Havok picked up a win over the former referee and current stooge for Taya Valkyrie, Johnny Bravo this week. Bravo had attempted to seduce the kaiju monster to no avail last week and again before the match could begin this week.

After the match, Su Yung appeared on the videotron and cut a promo on Havok (one could assume). The promo was not in any known or translatable language, however, so what it is she said to Havok remains a mystery.

Eddie Edwards Attacks Ace Austin

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NtbUnOoJh1I

Ace Austin picked up a win over the man of adventure Stone Rockwell this week. After the match, however, Austin was attacked by Eddie Edwards. Previously, we have seen videos of Austin in the back performing magic tricks for Edwards’s wife Alicia which evidently upset Eddie.

After the match, we were shown a scene of Alicia and Eddie Edwards arguing in the back over what had occurred.

Fallah Bah Has Lost 100lbs, Defeats Moose

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fCvlXQ3AHOo

Moose cut a promo about not being given enough opportunities from Impact management and that he should be world champ. He took his aggression out on Stone Rockwell, who had just dropped a match to Ace Austin and was still in the ring.

Fallah Bah then returned to Impact Wrestling last night after having lost 100lbs. He came out to confront Moose as he was beating up Rockwell and this led to an impromptu match.

Don Callis noted on commentary how much quicker and more agile the weight loss has made Fallah Bah. He certainly showcased that in his match against Moose, picking up the suprise upset over the former title challenger.

Quick Results:

  1. Aiden Prince defeated Wentz vs Petey Williams vs Cody Deaner vs Chuck Mambo vs Rohit Raju
  2. Havok defeated John E Bravo
  3. Ace Austin defeated Stone Rockwell
  4. Fallah Bah defeated Moose
  5. Tessa Blanchard vs Madman Fulton – No Contest
  6. Impact Tag Team Championships: The North (c) defeated the Rascalz

Next Week:

  • Knockouts Championship: Havok vs Taya Valkyrie
  • Eddie Edwards vs LAX
  • X-Division Championship: Jake Crist (c) vs Aiden Prince
  • Impact Tag Team Championships: The North (c) vs LAX (Ortiz & Daga)

6 Takeaways From Impact Wrestling 7/26

Impact Wrestling was inside Windsor’s St. Clair College for this week’s episode. The show featured an X-Division title match and a street fight between Michael Elgin and Brian Cage.

Here are 6 takeaways from Impact Wrestling 7/26:

Rhyno Officially Joins Impact Wrestling

Michael Elgin’s street fight with champion Brian Cage never really officially started this week. The main event began with an injured Cage crawling to the ring area while being beaten by Elgin.

Melissa Santos eventually attempted to get Elgin to stop the attack but it was a masked man who looked much like Rhyno who would divert his attention. Unfortunately, Elgin hit the masked guy with a chair. That masked guy was not the real Rhyno, however, and the real one then gave a Gore to Elgin and celebrated in the crowd to end the show.

Jake Crist Wins X-Division Title

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6slTEdvUBP8

Rich Swann’s X-Division title reign came to an end in Windsor. Swann’s loss of the championship was in part due to interference from OVE’s Madman Fulton.

Madman Fulton pushed Swann off the top rope and into a cutter by Crist. This allowed Crist to then hit the Buckeye Drop and win the title.

Swann’s title reign ends at 194 days and 11 title defences.

Tessa and Sami Preview Their Rematch

Sami Callihan and Tessa Blanchard will face each other again on August 2nd at Unbreakable. The show will air live on the Impact Plus streaming app. This time the winner of their match will earn a title shot at the Impact World Championship. Callihan and Blanchard earned the right to face each other for a title shot after winning the Mash-Up tournament together last week.

Sami praised Tessa before disrespecting her at the end of the promo, leading to a brawl between the two. Later in the show, Callihan said he’s going to sick Madman Fulton on her next week.

Moose Wants Stronger Competition

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_ypdPpXTwU

Moose won a squash match this week over Ray Steele. After the match, however, Moose cut a promo about how thought that after beating Rob Van Dam at Slammiversary he would get a chance to earn a title shot. Had he and Eddie Edwards won the Mash-Up tournament they would face each other for the next title shot but that was little consolation to Moose, who feels Impact managment has been disrespecting him.

Moose then sent a message to Impact management by further delivering a beatdown to Steele.

Rob Van Dam Back In The Win Column

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=loUtKWyj5Fw

Rob Van Dam defeated Willie Mack this week. The win gets RVD back in the win column after dropping a match to Moose at Slammiversary.

RVD had been complaining in the past about Impact wrestlers using his moves. This may especially be the case for Mack, who has a “6-Star Frog Splash” as part of his arsenal. RVD would manage to win the match with his 5-star version of the move, however. The two would show respect to one another in the ring after the match.

Jordynne Grace Defeats Kiera Hogan, Madison Rayne on Commentary

Madison Rayne, fresh off her heel turn, was on commentary for this match. She also rolled Kiera Hogan back in the ring when it appeared she was going to get counted-out. Despite Rayne’s help, however, Hogan got caught in a clever pinning combination by Grace.

Later in the show, Hogan was interviewed in the back and Rayne interrupted. Although Rayne started off insulting Hogan, the two ended up turning their attention to Melissa Santos. Hogan and Rayne could turn out to be allies rather than enemies in this story, it’s still not clear.

On commentary, Don Callis noted to Josh Matthews that he might not know how to handle himself around a woman as beautiful as Rayne (the two are married in real-life, though this doesn’t appear to be something Impact acknowledges.)

Quick Results:

  1. Jordynne Grace defeated Kiera Hogan
  2. Moose defeated Ray Steele
  3. Rob Van Dam defeated Willie Mack
  4. X-Division Championship: Jake Crist defeated Rich Swann (c) – New Champion
  5. Street Fight: Michael Elgin vs Brian Cage – No Contest

7 Takeaways From Impact Wrestling 6/21

Impact Wrestling presented a taped show last night on Pursuit, Twitch, and their international broadcast partners. The show was filmed inside New York’s Melrose Ballroom.

Here are 7 Takeaways from Impact Wrestling 6/21.

Brian Cage Is Back

Rich Swann pinned Johnny Impact in the night’s main event, which was a triple threat also involving Michael Elgin. Following the match, Elgin and Impact attempted to deliver a post-match beatdown to Swann but were interrupted by the returning World Champion Brian Cage.

Cage would throw Impact out of the ring before turing his attention to Elgin and leaving him laying to end the show.

Monster’s Ball Match Booked For Slammiversary

Su Yung was disqualified this week in her Knockouts championship match with Taya Valkyrie. James Mitchell’s newest monster, Havok, hit Taya right in front of the official causing Josh Matthews to wonder if Mitchell has any control over her.

Earlier in the show, Taya had enlisted the help of Rosemary as her insurance policy against Mitchell’s group. When Rosemary came out, however, Mitchell announced that all 4 competitors would face each other in a Monster’s Ball match for the Knockout championship at Slammiversary.

Sami Callihan Challenges Tessa Blanchard For Slammiversary

Tessa Blanchard defeated Jake Crist in this week’s opening match, enraging Sami Callihan. Later in the show, Callihan would issue a challenge to Tessa for Slammiversary. Blanchard has yet to respond.

TJP Returns to Impact Wrestling

Ace Austin cut a promo this week mentioning that he has never been defeated in Impact Wrestling. He then issued an open challenge which was answered by the former Manic, now known as TJP. The returning TJP then ended Ace Austin’s undefeated streak in the promotion.

Rob Van Dam Rescues Tommy Dreamer From Moose

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvBxAbPkjTI

Moose wanted to send a message to Rob Van Dam ahead of their Slammiversary clash this week. After defeating Tommy Dreamer, Moose set him up in the corner and looked as though he was going to deliver a Coast to Coast, one of RVD’s patented moves, but RVD himself came out to make the save.

Killer Kross Waterboards the Sandman

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DW3IDDLMRYU

The second match of the episode featured Madman Fulton from OVE going up against Eddie Edwards. Edwards went to the outside to grab his Kendo stick when Killer Kross appeared on the big screen. Kross had the Sandman captured and under a hood. He then began waterboarding the ECW legend.

The distraction allowed Fulton to gain the advantage and pick up the win.

Eddie Edwards Gets Revenge

Later in the show, Edwards went looking for Kross. When Edwards found who he thought was the Sandman, it turned out to be someone completely else entirely. Edwards and Kross then brawled, with Edwards getting the upper hand. Alisha Edwards tried to tell Eddie that this is not who he is but Edwards disagreed.

Quick Results:

  1. Tessa Blanchard defeated Jake Crist
  2. Madman Fulton defeated Eddie Edwards
  3. Moose defeated Tommy Dreamer
  4. Knockouts Championship: Taya Valkyrie (c) defeated Su Yung via DQ
  5. TJP defeated Ace Austin
  6. Rich Swann defeated Johnny Impact vs Michael Elgin

  • LAX & Laredo Kid vs the Rascalz
  • Sami Callihan vs Fallah Bah
  • Taya Valkyrie & Rosemary vs Havok & Su Yung

Michael Elgin Names Two Wrestlers He’d Like To Join Impact’s Roster

Despite having only recently joined Impact Wrestling’s roster, Michael Elgin was already familiar with the promotion’s product.

In a recent interview with the WINCLY podcast, Elgin divulged that he had scouted the company prior to signing a contract, and thinks highly of Impact’s entire roster.

Having entered himself into Impact World Championship contendership after a post-match attack on Brian Cage at Rebellion, Elgin isn’t looking past other opportunities.

“[…] I think the X-Division was such a standard bearer for the company. The first goal is world championship and whoever is gonna be X-Division champion after Slammiversay, maybe I’ll go after it and be double-champion.”

A well-travelled competitor, Elgin has experience wrestling all over the world. When asked whom he would like to see signed to the Impact roster, he had two names ready.

“Talent-wise, I think AR Fox and Jason Kincaid need to be a part of Impact Wrestling. I’m a huge AR Fox fan, and I think [Kincaid] is special. He’s so talented and one of my favorite people to wrestle. He would be a great guy to have in the X-Division,” he observed.

Michael Elgin is scheduled to face off against Brian Cage for the Impact Wrestling Championship on Sunday, July 7th. The two will clash at Impact’s Slammiversary XVII event, which takes place from Dallas, Texas.

Brian Cage Comments On AEW & Impact Talent-Sharing, Michael Elgin, more…

Brian Cage will put his Impact World Championship on the line against Michael Elgin at Slammiversary next month. Cage won the title at Rebellion in April by defeating Johnny Impact. He would miss TV tapings in Toronto and Philadelphia as a result of a back injury sustained in the match, however.

Cage was recently a guest on the WINCLY podcast and spoke on a variety of subjects. He mentioned that he would love to see more talent-sharing partnerships amongst wrestling promotions.

“I would love to see more partnerships going down whether it be with Impact and AEW or Impact and ROH,” Cage said on the show.

He mentioned talent-sharing would be a great way to present more fresh match-ups.

“Essentially, everyone in the pro wrestling business is in the business together. We’re all trying to make money and WWE is obviously the global conglomerate and has the stronghold on everything. I feel like everyone who’s competing against each other and them, if everyone would work together, we would present way more possibilities as far as matches and storylines,” said Cage.

Brian Cage On Michael Elgin

Cage also spoke about his upcoming opponent, Michael Elgin, on the show.

“I know Elgin very well as we used to be tag partners and tag champions in PWG,” Cage said. “First and foremost, I’ll say that I’m glad Elgin is in Impact as he’s a phenomenal talent. He brings a lot to an already-stacked roster, especially the heavyweight division.”

7 Takeaways From Impact Wrestling 5/31

Impact Wrestling 5/31 was taped inside Philadelphia’s 2300 Arena. It featured a main event of Johnny Impact & Michael Elgin taking on Willie Mack & Rich Swann.

Here are 8 Takeaways from Impact Wrestling 5/31:

Slammiversary Title Matches Announced

Two titles matches were announced this week for Slammiversary. Michael Elgin will challenge Brian Cage for the World Championship.

Also, Johnny Impact will face Rich Swann for the X-Division title. Impact earned the right to face the champion in April when he won an Ultimate X match.

  • Tessa Blanchard defeated Glenn Gilbertti

Glenn Gilbertti cut a pre-match promo running down women’s wrestling. Tessa made short work of him during the match, however.

Blanchard KO’ed Gilbertti with a strike and pinned him in short order.

ECW Legends Defeat the North & Moose

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOiDOSM0Tik
  • Rob Van Dam, Tommy Dreamer, & Sabu defeated Moose & the North

Tommy Dreamer, Rob Van Dam, and Sabu kicked off this week’s episode with a win in 6-man tag action. They defeated the team of Moose and Josh Alexander & Ethan Page (the North).

RVD got the pin on Ethan Page after delivering a 5-Star Frog Splash. After the match, Moose cut a promo about not being able to rely on others. It sounds like his alliance with the North will be short-lived.

Rosemary Blames James Mitchell For Allie’s Death

Rosemary and James Mitchell had a chat in the undead realm this week. Mitchell reminded Rosemary that Allie went with him willingly into the undead realm but Rosemary disagreed.

Rosemary choked Mitchell before telling him to leave while he still could. She also said that Su Yung would continue to be her prisoner.

The Sandman Gifts His Singapore Cane to Eddie Edwards

  • Eddie Edwards defeated Killer Kross – Street Fight

Eddie Edwards and Killer Kross went back in forth in an ECW-style street fight this week. Edwards was particularly motivated to get at Kross due to Kross having broken “Kenny”, Eddie’s kendo stick.

In the closing moments of this match, the Sandman slid into the ring and took out Kross, allowing Edwards to hit the Boston Knee Party and get the pin.

After the match, Sandman gifted his Singapore Cane to Eddie.

  • Fallah Bah & Scarlett Bordeaux vs the Crist Brothers
  • RVD makes a Slammiversary challenge

6 Takeaways From Impact Wrestling 5/17

Impact Wrestling last night emanated from the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia. The company is building towards their next PPV, Slammiversary on July 7th from Dallas.

Here are 6 takeaways from Impact Wrestling 5/17:

Johnny Impact Rescued Michael Elgin

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRZRDSxCaKM

Elgin attempted to end the career of Rich Swann this week. The #1 Contender to Brian Cage’s world title delivered 3 powerbombs to Swann into the steel post during the night’s main event. The referee ended up disqualifying Elgin and then quickly ran away from the ring area. Elgin would continue the beatdown after the match. He had assaulted Willie Mack in the back earlier in the night as well. Mack would end up making the save before Elgin could deliver even further damage to Swann.

Just when Mack looked as though he was going to get his revenge on Elgin, Johnny Impact came out and attacked Mack and Swann.

Earlier in the show, fans were given a medical update on World Champion Brian Cage’s condition as well. Cage’s injury is being attributed to the post-match beatdown he received at the hands of Michael Elgin at Rebellion. Doctors advised they are not sure when or if Cage will be able to return.

Rosemary Abducted Su Yung

Su Yung and Rosemary met in a Demon Dog Collar match this week. In a match which involved both competitors attempting to use the poison mist (perhaps in anticipation of the Great Muta being brought in for a “Night You Can’t Mist”), Rosemary got the win after a spear.

Much like she did after defeating an Undead Maid of Honor, Rosemary abducted her opponent following the match.

Killer Kross Defeated Eddie Edwards

Kross stuck his thumb in the eye of Edwards as this match approached its final moments. Edwards has had issues with that eye, having had his orbital bone broken last year in a match with Sami Callihan.

Edwards then brought Kenny the kendo stick into the ring but when the referee attempted to take it away from him, Kross hit a Doomsday Saito suplex and got the win.

Following the match, Kross tied Edwards up in the ropes and looked as though he was going to hit him with the kendo stick. Edwards acted like he wanted Kross to do it too but Kross ended up breaking Kenny the kendo stick instead, leading Edwards to collapse into despair over the loss. The kendo stick had originally been given to Edwards at Slammiversary last year by Tommy Dreamer.

The Rascalz Train Vigorously For Tag Team Title Shot

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBPGzcAOk6o

The Rascalz have an upcoming tag team title match against LAX. They decided this week it would be a good idea to train for the match with an overly dramatic montage sequence. It was fitting considering they were in Rocky Balboa’s hometown this week.

Madman Fulton Wins A Squash

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePKo3hl2d1U

The newest member of OVE won a squash match this week. Madman Fulton walked to the ring with Sami Callihan perched on his shoulders. He then proceeded to annihilate Randy Shawn.

Glenn Gilbertti Wins Knockouts Battle Royal

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Y6t05Zq3Ik

The former Disco Inferno has been insulting women’s wrestling as of late. On Impact Wrestling this week, he took things a step further. Gilbertti hid at the commentary table for most of the match before re-entering it near the end. He delivered a clothesline to Tessa Blanchard (who assumed she had won after eliminating Kiera Hogan) and then eliminated her.

Quick Results:

  1. Glenn Gilbertti wins Battle Royal
  2. Demon Dog Collar Match: Rosemary defeated Su Yung
  3. Madman Fulton defeated Randy Shawn
  4. Rich Swann defeated Michael Elgin via DQ

Next Week:

  • Rob Van Dam vs Tommy Dreamer
  • Knockouts Championship: Taya Valkyrie (c) vs Madison Rayne
  • Sami Callihan vs Fallah Bah
  • Tag Team Championship: LAX (c) vs the North

Michael Elgin Talks Leaving NJPW For Impact Wrestling

Michael Elgin debuted for Impact Wrestling at the Rebellion PPV in Toronto’s Rebel Nightclub. He had his first match for the promotion the next night and became the #1 contender for the Impact World title in the process.

Elgin was recently the guest on an Impact Wrestling Press Pass and spoke about leaving NJPW for Impact Wrestling.

“It was more-so of just me wanting to be there (Impact) and I kind of freed up my obligations because I just spent so much time in Japan and there was an offer there that I decided wasn’t right for me,” Elgin said. “Because I decided that even though it was said otherwise in some media outlets, I felt it was time to move on and focus on my son. And looking at all the other options, like I previously mentioned, that I focus on wrestling and I watch a lot and I try to watch every company out there and stay focused on the talent that’s out there, and- just the product as a whole within Impact was what I like about pro wrestling.”

Elgin continued to talk about Impact’s approach to pro-wrestling.

“It’s what my pro wrestling that I grew up on focuses on. Championships mean something,” he continued. “People are going out there and fighting to be the best wrestler and to gain a championship and it just speaks volumes to me because that’s what I like about wrestling. I like the athletic atmosphere. I like the sport atmosphere of it.”

8 Takeaways From Impact Wrestling 5/3

Impact Wrestling presented the first of two episodes taped the night after Rebellion from the Rebel Nightclub in Toronto. I was in attendance for the show and will provide live notes throughout this post.

Here are 8 takeaways from Impact Wrestling 5/3:

Rob Van Dam Is Back! Will Face Ethan Page Next Week

Rob Van Dam came out this week but his return was interrupted by “All Ego” Ethan Page.

As a member of “the North” and well-known independent wrestler from the nearby city of Hamilton, Page had plenty of supporters in the crowd but RVD got the largest reaction of the tapings.

RVD has been talking about how many on the Impact roster have been stealing his moves. Page noted that he doesn’t steal RVD’s moves and RVD was never a hero to him. The segment ended with a Van Daminator. A single’s match between the two was booked for next week.

Michael Elgin Is #1 Contender

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-ZsZv6cuCQ
  • Michael Elgin defeated Johnny Impact, Pentagon Jr. – 3-Way Match

Michael Elgin kicked things off last night with an in-ring promo. He noted that it is customary for a new World Champion to kick off the episode after winning the title but in this case, Brian Cage is unable to do so due to injury.

Elgin was interrupted by both Johnny Impact and Konnan. Johnny disputed Elgin’s claim to a title shot and so did Konnan, who felt former world champion Pentagon deserved a shot as well. It was agreed that the 3 would meet in a triple threat match in the night’s main event, with the winner being declared the new #1 contender to Brian Cage’s title.

Pentagon Jr. injured:

Elgin got the win in the night’s main event but arguably the bigger story is Pentagon Jr. suffering an injury during the bout. My section was on the other side of the ring so I didn’t have a great view of it, however.

Something got messed up between Johnny and Pentagon as Johnny was going for a hurricanrana to the floor and Pentagon stayed down after. A medic and several referees helped him to the back as he was favoring his leg. There are no available updates on his condition other than he is dealing with an “undisclosed leg injury.”

Brian Cage Is Injured

It was noted on last night’s episode that Brian Cage is injured. He was taken to hospital following Rebellion with a back injury. Cage then said doctors told him they believe he suffered a deep bone bruise/inflammation or minor fracture after a Standing Spanish Fly from the entrance ramp to the floor.

He said on Busted Open Radio this Monday he didn’t expect to miss much time but he was pulled from the tapings this weekend due to the injury.

Madison Rayne Vs Taya Valkyrie Next Week – Non-Title

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ttDMcpSRbeE

Madison Rayne confronted Taya Valkyrie in the back this week. Rayne noted that Taya has never defeated her. Valkyrie woudln’t agree to deend her title but will face Madison Rayne in single’s competition next week.

Kiera Hogan Left Rosemary To Su Yung & Her Minions

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6pUk8fBQTIg
  • Kiera Hogan vs Rosemary – No Contest

A match between Kiera Hogan and Rosemary was thrown out this week when the Undead Bridesmaids interfered. The undead brides were attempting to rescue the Undead Maid of Honor who had been abducted by Rosemary last week.

Hogan was on the entrance ramp as Su Yung and her minions attacked Rosemary. She appeared to have second thoughts about getting in the ring and rescuing Rosemary, however, and in fact, never did come to her aid. What this means for her in the Rosemary/Su Yung/Undead Realm angle is unclear.

Killer Kross/Eddie Edwards Rivalry Brewing?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hBNvm0DxC3g
  • Fenix defeated Eddie Edwards

Killer Kross came out during the Eddie Edwards vs Fenix match last night. He stood ominously on the entrance ramp for a large chunk of the match.

Kross offered Eddie Edwards his kendo stick to use but then wouldn’t let go of it when Eddie grabbed for it. The distraction was all Fenix needed to go on offense and pick up the win with a muscle buster.

What does Kross want with Eddie Edwards?

Ace Austin Gets The Win/Will Challenge For X-Division Gold

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgsGzk2r6SE
  • Ace Austin defeated Petey Williams

Ace Austin defeated a former X-Division Champion in Petey Williams this week. The win over Petey Williams could help Austin gain momentum as he gears up to challenge for the X-Division title on Sunday at Code Red. The match had originally been for the HOG Crown Jewel Championship but Josh Matthews announced the X-Division title would be on the line last night.

Quick Results:

  1. Ace Austin defeated Petey Williams
  2. Rosemary vs Kiera Hogan – No Contest
  3. Fenix defeated Eddie Edwards
  4. Impact World Title #1 Contendership: Michael Elgin defeated Pentagon Jr. and Johnny Impact

Although he has not been announced for an official match tonight, RVD has been advertised as appearing at tonight’s show in Toronto.

Brian Cage Injury Update

Brian Cage had to take a trip to the emergency room following Rebellion last night. He gave an update on his status during Busted Open Radio earlier today:

Cage would ultimately say that the doctors believe he just has some inflammation and a deep bone bruise. He is not expected to miss much time.

Will Michael Elgin Be At The Impact Wrestling TV Tapings?

Michael Elgin debuted for Impact Wrestling last night. Elgin has a long history in the area and despite debuting as a heel, there were many “Big Mike” chants in the crowd when he walked down the entrance ramp at Rebellion. It is not known if he will be at the tapings tonight, however.

Two other wrestlers from the area, Josh Alexander and Ethan Page, also received hometown (or nearly hometown) reactions. Page and Alexander recently came together to form “the North” and Elgin took to Twitter to speak on their performances last night:
