Foley Comments On Asylum Match At Extreme Rules, The Rock’s New Project With CNN

    – Mick Foley recently took to Facebook to comment on this Sunday’s Extreme Rules PPV. The WWE Hall of Famer wrote about the “Asylum” match between Dean Ambrose and Chris Jericho, saying it may be a “big break” for Ambrose.

Here’s what Foley had to say on his official Facebook page:

    SEEKING ASYLUM

Could this AsylumMatch at ExtremeRules be exactly what Dean Ambrose needs? Experience has taught me that a big break is often a series of smaller breaks – like a ball peen hammer tapping away at that glass ceiling everyone talks about…until finally, it shatters. Could this match it be another breakthrough for Ambrose? Couldn’t potential he steal the show – a tall task given the chemistry between AJ Styles, and Roman Reigns in their last outing.

    – The Extreme Rules pre-show starts at 7:00 PM ET this Sunday, and the actual pay-per-view will begin at 8:00. Join us for live play-by-play results from the event at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on Sunday evening.

    – The Rock’s production company, called Seven Bucks Productions, is partnering with CNN for a new TV series. The new series is called Soundtracks, and will be released sometime in 2017.

  • Steve Austin Reveals Why He’s Not Hosting Shane McMahon’s Tell All Podcast

Steve Austin spoke on his latest podcast about Mick Foley hosting the upcoming Shane McMahon “tell all” podcast on the WWE Network instead of him. Austin revealed that he would have been glad to participate, but he’s still got his “wing in a sling” and is apprehensive about traveling while recovering from recent shoulder surgery.

Foley stated yesterday that Austin had a prior commitment, but that’s not the case. Austin said he was ready to travel to Baltimore for the interview but he’d rather not risk all the work that’s been done on his shoulder.

Austin is expecting to be in a sling for 4 more weeks and will begin range of motion work in 3 weeks.

The Shane McMahon Tell All Podcast hosted by Mick Foley airs Monday, May 23rd immediately following RAW.

  • Mick Foley Comments On Chyna Getting In The WWE Hall Of Fame

For those that witnessed Monday Night Raw last night, the WWE opened the show with a graphic of Chyna under complete silence. Then, nearly two-thirds into the show, the WWE finally aired a tribute video to Chyna, which was very-well done.

The response from the WWE Universe was welcomed, especially after the flack the company got for not making Chyna’s recovery a priority in the darker days of her life.

After complaints about how the WWE wouldn’t even mention Chyna, the new conversations is beginning Chyna not getting into the WWE Hall of Fame. While that’s still several months away, it’s only a hot topic right now because she passed away.

While being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame is a huge honor, it doesn’t define the wrestler. That’s what Mick Foley said on his Facebook page when asked if Chyna should be inducted next year.

“Joanie”, I said. “Being inducted into the Hall of Fame was one of the greatest nights of my life – but it doesn’t define me. Don’t let it define you. You’re a legend in our business, no one can ever take away from you the things you’ve done. Don’t let anyone have the power to tell you whether or not your career was worthy of the Hall of Fame. It was! There will never be another Chyna”

So next year, when the announcements are made, if Chyna is not an inductee, don’t be sad. The real Hall of Fame is inside all of us. It’s a Hall of Fame based on the way superstars made us feel, the smiles they produced, the memories they created for us, the legacies they forged that will stand the test of time. By that standard, Joanie Laurer – Chyna; the 9th Wonder of the World was inducted into the Hall that really matters – our hall of memories – a long, long time ago.

Is the Hardcore Legend right? As an inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame, he has every right to comment on this situation.

Whether Chyna gets inducted or not, that doesn’t take away from the impact she had on the WWE, as well as women in pro wrestling.

  • Mick Foley Says Triple H Doesn’t Hate Him

Mick Foley Says Triple H Doesn’t Hate Him

After Mick Foley’s teenage son Mickey implied online that Triple H dislikes his father, the WWE Hall of Famer took time to address the longstanding rumor on Facebook.

THIS MAN DOES NOT HATE ME

Despite what you may have heard, I really don’t believe Triple H dislikes me, as my son Mickey implied on his live stream – from which point the story took on a life of its own. Keep in mind, that my son Mickey is on the autism spectrum and while he is a bright and beautiful child, he doesn’t always speak with the same type of filter that most of us naturally have – and as a result, he is much more likely to say exactly what comes into his mind.

Sure, it created something of an awkward position for me – but nothing that is said or done will ever take away from the bond Triple H and I share; the bond of great matches as we were moving up the card in 1997 and 1998, and when we were on top of the card, on top of the cell – and figuratively, on top of the world in 2000. Rumors will come and go. But memories like the ones Triple H and I created will last a lifetime.

It’s been said in the past that Triple H would disparage Foley in creative meetings. Here is what I reported in June 2012 about the rumor:

Wrestling Observer editor Dave Meltzer was asked by a reader during his radio show why WWE has not utilized Mick Foley on television more frequently since his return to the organization in November 2011. He said this is due to Triple H’s lobbying, who is resentful of “The Hardcore Legend.”

Meltzer says Triple H deprecates Foley whenever his name comes up in creative meetings. While Brian Gewirtz, WWE’s Senior Vice President of Creative Writing, feels Foley is creative and a good performer, Triple H thinks otherwise. He says Foley ‘doesn’t look tough’ and can’t be taken seriously as an in-ring performer.

A former WWE creative writer told Power Slam magazine in 2008 under the condition of anonymity that Triple H would disparage Foley whenever he appeared for the company, and in the process, diminish his value in the eyes of Vince and Stephanie McMahon.

“Foley is an out-of-shape nobody,” Triple H was reported as saying by the writer. “No one cares about him at all. Funaki puts more asses in the seats than Foley does. He should pay us for coming on our shows.”

Meltzer believes the real reason Triple H still holds Foley in contempt is because he gets irritated over the consensus of his closest co-workers that his memorable matches with Foley in 2000 “made him a star.”

Mick Foley Shares A Story In Honor Of The Late Balls Mahoney

On Tuesday evening, WWE Hall Of Famer Mick Foley took to social media to post a blog in remembrance of the late Jonathan Rechner, who was better known to fans of the original ECW as Balls Mahoney. As noted, Rechner passed away at age 44.

Foley, a fellow hardcore wrestler himself, shared the following story in honor of the memory of Rechner on his official Facebook page.

    RIP BALLS

John Rechner. Even among larger than life characters in pro-wrestling, he was one of those guys who stood out – who made you laugh, smile, or just walk away, shaking your head in disbelief, knowing you had another Balls Mahoney story to share with the boys.

RIP my friend. You brought us some great memories. My prayers will be with your family and friends – especially the little boy you loved and doted on at so many shows over the years.

I met John in October, 1994 when I did a series of TV tapings and matches for Smoky Mountain Wrestling, including their big Thanksgiving and Christmas day shows. My goal during this time in the storyline was to pry Rechner’s gullible but kind-hearted Boo Bradley away from the evil clutches of real-life best friend, but consummate on-screen heel Chris Candido. So we waged our wars throughout the Smokies, with the powers of good finally winning out over Candido – and in my final act as part of?#?SMW? I gifted a pair of Cactus Jack tights to my new friend Boo Bradley. Months later, Jim Cornette told me he wore those tights every night. I’ll never forget those times, or those tights – or the man. God Bless you John – in earning your nickname, you gave so much to so many.

  • Video: Steve Austin, Mick Foley & HBK Make Quick In-Ring Returns At WrestleMania 32

Video: Steve Austin, Mick Foley & HBK Make Quick In-Ring Returns At WrestleMania 32

At WrestleMania 32 on Sunday night inside AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, history was made more than once.

One of the many historic moments coming out of Sunday night’s show saw retired WWE Hall Of Famers “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Mick Foley and Shawn Michaels all made quick in-ring cameos after The New Day vs. The League Of Nations handicap match.

After the match, which saw The League Of Nations pick up the victory, King Barrett got on the microphone and said no three men can handle he, Sheamus, Rusev and Alberto Del Rio.

With that being said, Shawn Michaels’ music played and HBK came out and took his shirt off, revealing his old wrestling pants. After Michaels, the music of “The Hardcore Legend” himself played, as Mick Foley came out second. Finally, the third man to come out alongside HBK and Foley was Texas’ own “Rattlesnake,” Steve Austin.

The three hit the ring and brawled with The League Of Nations. Austin stomped some mudholes. Foley handed out some knuckle sandwiches. Michaels tuned up the band.

When all was said and done, there was also some Mr. Socko-O Claws handed out, some Sweet Chin Music receipts given and some Stone Cold Stunners delivered.

You can check out some photos and video footage of Shawn Michaels, Mick Foley and Steve Austin in the ring at WrestleMania 32 below.

However, unbeknownst to Mick, Noelle has decided she wants to follow in her father’s footsteps, and has been secretly training to join WWE. Just when Mick thought he was out of the ring, Noelle is leading the charge to pull him back in.

As if Noelle’s aspirations weren’t enough, Dewey, Mick’s oldest son, recently landed his dream job as a writer’s assistant on the WWE creative team.

In Holy Foley, real-life antics and laugh-out-loud moments will unfold as cameras follow two generations of Foleys trying to make it in life – and at WWE.”

I was really impressed, not only by his character, but also with his work ethic. I understood even at 19 years old that there was so much more to Savage than the character. He was an extremely hard worker, and I admired that.”

  • Mick Foley Comments On The Death Of Hayabusa

WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley posted a message on Facebook about the tragic death of Japanese wrestling legend Hayabusa.

    RIP HAYABUSA

Pro wrestling lost another great with the death of Hayabusa (Eiji Ezaki) at age 47 from complications of a subarachnoid hemorrhage. I remember this gifted and Innovative high-flyer so well – from the pages of Japanese wrestling magazines, where he would seemingly do the impossible on a regular basis. He work for FMW in Japan, while I worked for IWA Japan- so we were, in a sense, competitors – but I had nothing but respect for him, and was pleased to meet him at the two FMW events was part of – in 1996 and 1997. Hayabusa was paralyzed in 2001, following a springboard moonsault attempt, in which he slipped off the ropes, and landed on his head, cracking two vertebrae in his neck – never to wrestle again.

But, if in death, a man can inspire others in life, than truly that life has been one worth living. Please take a look at this video that captures his most remarkable moment – in 2015, surrounded by his peers, fans, and loved ones, Hayabusa walks to the ring for the first time since his accident.

  • Mick Foley Issues Public Apology To Mandy Rose, Lists His Most Regrettable Moments

Mick Foley took to his Facebook page on Tuesday to issue an apology to Mandy Rose, formerly known as Tough Enough contestant Amanda Saccomano. Foley was originally critical of her for her behavior on-camera on Tough Enough, but was later informed it was all a work. Here’s what Foley had to say:

“Several months ago, I was pretty tough on Amanda, based on a comment she made during the finale of WWE’s Tough Enough,” Foley wrote. “I was tough on her in a tweet I sent out that night, and even tougher in a Facebook post I sent out the next day.A few months later, I met Chelsea Green, another Tough Enough contestant, at the Minneapolis airport, en-route to Saskatchewan, Canada, where we would both be appearing in the motion picture Chokeslam. I was surprised when Chelsea received a text message from Amanda – since they hadn’t exactly come off as buddies on the show – and even more surprised when Chelsea told me that Amanda was actually a nice young lady who she considered a friend.

But what about all the terrible things she said on the show? That, Chelsea told me, was done to create drama on the show.Essentially, she was portraying a heel character on the show…something I did quite a bit of in my own life.

I did apologize publicly to Amanda on Twitter, and in several subsequent direct messages to her. The apology was accepted immediately, and unconditionally,,,but I don’t think it’s enough. Like a retraction of an error in a newspaper, far more people heard about the criticism than actually saw the apology.”

The former WWE World Champion went on to cite some regrettable moments from his own career, including a segment with him and John Cena.

“Now, I could argue that Amanda shouldn’t have made any comment about another contestant’s sexual past – even if the comment was suggested to her to create “heat” and interest on the show. Couldn’t she have shot the suggestion down?. Maybe so, Then again, just off the top of my head, here are three things that I shouldn’t have done:

    1) I shouldn’t have allowed my last name to be “Manson” in World Class and during my first run in WCW. Sure, the name was a surprise when I walked down the aisle of the Sportatorium in Dallas for the first time, and heard my name announced as “Cactus Jack Manson”. It bothered me, but not enough to risk my job over it – and I eventually played into it…even though I knew in my heart that playing into the image of a notorious murderer like Charles Manson.

    2) I ABSOLUTELY knew that there was NO WAY, in my first appearance on WWE TV i three years, that I should have agreed to be part of a segment like “This is Your Life, John Cena” that was INTENTIONALLY bad. Every bone in my body told me that being part of it was a bad idea – but I didn’t want to rock the boat, so by golly, I went out there and intentionally stunk up the place to the best of my abilities!

    3) This one may seem random, especially because it was edited out of Smackdown, and has never been seen, but I deeply regret calling Stephanie McMahon an inappropriate name in the buildup to my matches with Triple H in 2000. Some of you have seen that buildup – it was great, and in no way needed the name-calling thing. But I did it, because I knew it would get a reaction – essentially doing the same slut-shaming I accused Amanda of – just for the sake of a cheap pop. To this day, I’ll find myself thinking back to that promo – saying to myself over and over “what were you thinking?”

Mandy Rose currently has a 5-year contract with WWE and made her NXT debut in January. You can read Foley’s entire blog entry here.

“Daniel Bryan called it a career last night on RAW – but what a career it was,” Foley wrote. “He put everything he had into everything he did, and changed the wrestling world forever. As good as he was wherever he went – from Independents, to Japan, to ROH, Bryan Danielson just did not strike many (including me) as a WWE guy. But, when given the chance, he showed that he could not only be A ?#?WWE? guy, but THE WWE guy, and by the time he was done, had been part of not only some of the great matches in company history, but some of its most memorable, funniest non-wrestling segments as well. His touching farewell speech on last night’s RAW may have been the most memorable of all.”
