  • WWE Hall Of Fame 2013 Induction Ceremony Live Report

Thanks to SESCOOPS.COM’s own Michael Shalik, who is live at the WWE Hall Of Fame 2013 induction ceremony at Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York.

    Terry Funk Introduces Mick Foley

Out first is WWE Hall Of Famer Terry Funk, who will be inducting fellow hardcore legend Mick Foley. Funk talks about how Foley is the reason he is a professional wrestling fan. Funk mentions how he loves Foley like an “ugly brother.” With that said, Mick Foley is brought out on stage.

    Mick Foley’s Induction Speech

As Foley makes his way to the stage, we see CM Punk (sitting next to Amy “Lita” Dumas) in the front row holding a big “applause” sign. Foley talks about his infamous Hell In A Cell match with The Undertaker. Foley said some wrestlers might not have appreciated his style of wrestling, but that mostly everyone recognized his unquestionable passion for the business. Foley jokingly gives a shout out to Damien Sandow. Foley thanks Undertaker. Foley says Undertaker put him on the map. Foley makes a joke about Undertaker never using Twitter. Foley thanks Triple H, Shane Douglas and many others. Foley talks about never pinning Chris Jericho. This leads to Jericho going up on stage. Foley drops an elbow on Jericho and Punk comes up to make the three-count. Well, now Foley has pinned Jericho! Crowd dug that little spot. Foley calls this Hall Of Fame induction his greatest moment ever. Foley’s speech ends with Santa Claus coming out. Foley’s speech lasted over 30 minutes.

    Stephanie McMahon Introduces Trish Stratus

Out next is Stephanie McMahon, who will be inducting WWE Divas legend Trish Stratus. Stephanie comes out to new theme music. Stephanie talks about Trish’s RAW main event match against Lita. Stephanie noted that some of Trish’s segments with her were among the McMahon family’s favorites. Stephanie hints that Trish may have another WrestleMania match in the future. Stephanie thanks Trish for all her contributions to WWE and brings her out on stage.

    Trish Stratus’ Induction Speech

Trish comes out and thanks Stephanie for the kind words. Trish thanks a long list of names. Trish talks about wrestling early in her career and says she hopes everyone was “Stratusfied” with her career as a wrestler/Diva. Trish thanks Finlay for his work as an agent for the Divas division. She thanks a number of Divas: Gail Kim, Beth Phoenix, Jazz, Lita, Mickie James and Tara, just to name a bunch. Trish shows off a gift from Jim Ross: the pen she signed her first WWE contract with. Trish tells Lita she loves her, getting emotional while saying it. We shoot to a shot of Lita in the crowd and she too looks emotional. Trish thanked Vince for all he taught her. Trish talked about retiring from wrestling so she could spend time with her mother, who was diagnosed with cancer. Trish is happy to announce that her mother is now cancer-free. Trish gives a shout out to her husband Ron. The crowd boo’d the living crap out of that shout-out. Jealous, eh? Trish played up the response from the fans, saying they are mean for boo’ing her husband. Trish then drops a bombshell – she is pregnant with their first child. She mentions that she’s due in September. Trish’s speech went quite a bit longer than one would imagine as well.

    Stevie Ray Introduces Booker T

Out next is Stevie Ray, who will be inducting his brother and former tag-team partner, Booker T. Stevie talked about how when Booker was in prison, he’d always keep up with wrestling and the two would always talk about wrestling when he would visit him. Stevie talks about how Booker overcame a lot of odds in life and is now a legitimate role model. With that said, Stevie Ray introduces Booker T to the stage.

    Booker T’s Induction Speech

Booker T comes out and receives a loud “Thank you Booker” chant from the NYC fans in attendance. Booker thanks the fans for letting him be a part of their lives. Booker tells the story of Sid Vicious getting him to join WCW in the 1990s. Booker gives props to the late Sheri Martel and credits her for making he and Stevie Ray’s tag-team, Harlem Heat, legit. Booker talks a bit more about WCW and then transitioned into finally coming to WWE. Booker recalls Linda McMahon informing him, “we got you now.” Booker tells a story about advice Undertaker gave him during his first WrestleMania. Booker thanked Sting. Booker shouts out his wife Sharmell and mentions how he’d marry her a thousand times. Booker jokingly tells the fans they better not boo his wife the way they boo’d Trish’s husband. Nice! Booker says he takes his place in immortality tonight. He then asks if we can dig that. He then calls us sucka’s. Booker closes his induction by giving the fans a Hall Of Fame Spinarooni.

    Maria Menounos Introduces Bob Backlund

Out next is Maria Menounos, who will be inducting the legendary former WWE Champion Bob Backlund. Menounos, the Extra TV host and part-time WWE Diva talks about Backlund’s career and how she’s always been a big fan. Menounos shares some memories she has of Backlund. She talks about what great shape Backlund is in, especially for his age. The fans start to ride Menounos a bit, hitting her with some scattered boo’s and “What?!” chants. Menounos finally welcomes Backlund to the stage.

    Bob Backlund’s Induction Speech

Bob Backlund comes out. This one is a hard one to recap, as Backlund is not making a whole lot of sense thus far. Backlund rambles some more. Backlund mentions how Mr. H (Triple H, I presume?) needs to sign some amateur wrestler. Eventually, after a long and very weird speech, Vince McMahon comes out to get Backlund off the stage. Backlund’s microphone had to be cut off as well.

    Vince McMahon Introduces Donald Trump

Out next is Vince McMahon, who will be inducting Donald Trump into the celebrity-wing of the WWE Hall Of Fame 2013 class. The crowd boo’s Trump’s name the first time they hear it. McMahon talks about how important Trump has been to the WrestleMania franchise. McMahon calls Trump an “institution.” McMahon says other than himself, Trump would be the best candidate to run for president of the United States of America. McMahon talks about getting his head shaved by Trump at a past WrestleMania, noting how it was one of the most embarassing moments ever. McMahon puts over Trump some more and then brings him out.

    Donald Trump’s Induction Speech

Donald Trump comes out. The crowd boo’s the living crap out of him. Trump begins his speech. A lot of typical acceptance-speech stuff. Typical celebrity putting over wrestling as best he can, etc. Trump says he wants to break more pay-per-view records, and then officially challenges Vince McMahon to a match at WrestleMania 30. Trump’s speech was one of the shortest speeches of the night, which is good because the show is running a bit long at this point. That and the fact that the crowd seemed to hate Trump, or at the very least wasn’t interested in anything he had to say.

    Arnold Schwarzenegger Introduces Bruno Sammartino

Out next is Arnold Schwarzenegger, who will be inducting Bruno Sammartino as the final member of the 2013 class of the WWE Hall Of Fame. Arnold says he’s happy to be here tonight. Arnold tells a few jokes. Arnold talks about lifting 400 lbs. recently, noting it was when he lifted New Jersey Govenor Chris Christie out of a chair. Arnold talked about his long friendship with Bruno. Arnold finally welcomes Bruno to the stage.

    Bruno Sammartino’s Induction Speech

Bruno Sammartino comes out. Very loud “Bruno” chants break out. The crowd gives Bruno a much-deserved standing ovation. The crowd seems very passionate in their reception to the legendary performer. Bruno talks a bit about his childhood and having to deal with the Nazi’s in Italy. Bruno tells a few more personal stories. Bruno talks a bit about his family, including some stories about his mother and his wife. Bruno says he’s never taken pain killers, or so much as an asprin in his life. Bruno says he still trains six days per week. Bruno puts over Madison Square Garden and mentions how he’s sold out the building many times in his career. Bruno says he owes all of his success to the fans. Bruno gets emotional towards the end of the speech, again noting how he’s nothing without the fans. Bruno finishes up and that’s about it.

  • Mick Foley Added To Televised Portion Of WWE HOF Induction Ceremony

Due to numerous complaints from fans and the media, WWE has officially added Mick Foley to the scheduled televised portion of Tuesday’s WWE Hall Of Fame induction ceremony on the USA Network.

Foley jokingly credited the late-change to Santa Claus talking to Vince McMahon.

  • Mick Foley Comments On WWE HOF TV Special Snub, Edge’s Status For WrestleMania

    – During Monday’s RAW, a promo video aired for the 2013 WWE Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony television special, which premieres next Tuesday night. Only Bruno Sammartino, Trish Stratus and Donald Trump’s inductions will be featured on the show. Mick Foley responded “Santa Claus” on Twitter, who said they can’t wait to see him get inducted:

“Um.. guess you didn’t hear the rumor @SantaClausWay..If you want to see my #WWEHOF speech, come see it live @TheGarden – might not be on TV.”

    Foley later followed up with:

“Thanks for all the messages of support concerning #WWEHOF. I’ll give the best speech I can, and let the decision makers make the decisions.”

    – WWE Hall of Famer Edge says he won’t be at WrestleMania 29:

“No I will not be at or see Mania. I’ll be on a plane flying home for a 20hr stay b4 I turn around and fly out again.”

  • John Cena’s New Make-A-Wish Pledge, Lesnar Joins Twitter, Heyman Interview & More

    – As part of Make-A-Wish’s “World Wish Day” on April 29th, John Cena is starting a campaign to raise money and airline miles for the foundation. Cena has vowed to match every frequent flier mile donated up to 4.5 million miles. For more on this story, click here.

    – Brock Lesnar has joined Twitter and can be followed at @brocklesnar.

LoHud.com has an interview with Paul Heyman, who talks about wrestling’s popularity over the years, how he got into the business and of course, WrestleMania 29.

    – WWEDVDNews.com reports that the following people were interviewed for the Mick Foley DVD, which will be released next month: Mick’s trainer Dominic Denucci, Shane Douglas, Michael Hayes, CM Punk, Vader, Terry Funk, Paul Heyman, Jim Ross, Joey Styles, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, William Regal, Big Show, ReganBooks founder Judith Regan, The Miz, The Rock, Mick Foley’s daughter and more.

  • Jim Ross Blog: Rock-Cena, Flair’s Health, Funk Inducting Foley, Fandango-Jericho

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has updated his blog, which you can read in its entirety at JRsBarBQ.com. Here are some highlights of what JR wrote about:

    Terry Funk Inducting Mick Foley:

“Great choice by Mick Foley to select Terry Funk to induct Mr. Foley’s baby boy at the 2013 WWE HOF induction ceremony. The Funker is Mick’s mentor and idol. I think it’s pretty cool when a Hall of Fame inductee can actually have their all time favorite wrestler, their father like figure within the business and their role model as it relates to in ring style and approach to the game induct them.”

    Ric Flair’s Medical Situation:

“Got a text from Ric Flair early this morning and Naitch is feeling great and has been provided medication to dissolve the blood clot that is in his leg. The doctor’s are highly optimistic that the meds will do the trick and eliminate a potentially, dangerous issue. Ric and I will get together Wednesday evening in Jersey to catch up which is one of our WrestleMania traditions.”

    Fandango vs. Y2J:

“Fandango is a lightning rod right now because many or perhaps a few vocal ‘fans’ don’t like the TV persona even though they have yet to see it fully on display in a match of significance. I’m of the persuasion that I’ll reserve my opinions until I actually see the talent get it on bell to bell. Chris Jericho is the perfect opponent to perform with Fandango at WM29 because Jericho is all about stealing the show ala the great @ShawnMichaels no matter Y2J’s role. Fandango can also expect Jericho to beat the hell out of him along the way. Believe that!”

    The Rock vs. John Cena:

“Enjoying the serious nature that the Rock/Cena rivalry has taken the past few weeks and it is a departure from 2012 or so it seems to me. Closing a WrestleMania with such high expectations and having a ‘different’ match than last year are tremendous responsibilities notwithstanding the fact that the match is for the WWE Title which should be the primary issue. Cena vs. Rock is a target of varying levels of controversy from some fans but pales in comparison to what their own peers will place upon the show closers in their own matches at WM29.”

“Wow, thanks for the incredible enthusiasm surrounding the new DVD cover. I’m usually my own toughest critic, but @WWE has really gone above and beyond with this bad boy. A few years ago, they started dramatically increasing the time and effort that goes into these productions, and it’s really apparent here. It just blows the A&E Biography piece away – and the extras are just great; stuff that anyone who really likes me will want to have in their collection. So many interviews with people who played a pivotal role in my life and career, including Terry Funk, Dominec DeNucci, Shane Douglas, Arn Anderson, Michael Hayes, Mike Rotunda, Vader (you’ll love the Vader/Cactus stuff) Kevin Sullivan, @HeymanHustle, @TheRock, family members, childhood friends, and some of today’s top superstars. The on-sale date in the US is April 16th, and April 22 in the UK. I will make sure to give you all the pre-sale and sale info as it comes to me.”

  • Mick Foley Talks CM Punk Feud, His Relationship With Vince, Undertaker’s Streak & More

Future WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley was interviewed by Inside The Ropes this week. Here are some highlights of what Foley said about:

Being A Comedy Character In WWE:

I’m gonna have to disagree with you there for a moment, I think the stuff I did with CM Punk was not comedy based at all. I thought that was probably the most effective way I could be used and can be used in future. If I Have a serious difference of opinion with somebody, you know I’ll never again have the physical threat of resolving my differences with someone in the ring but I think once a year, I’m good for a couple of good promos. In a way I didn’t think I would be until I did those promos with Punk.

His Program With CM Punk Ending So Soon:

Well again, you can’t really take it any further unless there’s gonna be a resolution in the ring. I was very happy, I think I had 3 big promos with punk and I really enjoyed it and believe me, I had a christmas book out at the time and I had to fight the urge to take the book out under my arm but I knew it wasn’t right for the promo. I enjoyed it and I look forward in the future to doing it once a year or so, in limited doses.

Why His Relationship With Vince McMahon Isn’t Great:

Well I think two thing happened. One, after I bowed out of the WrestleMania match with Vince in 2001, that’s kinda like the boy who cried wolf, you know, I said I would, I said I wouldn’t and then I didn’t do it. In 2001, I was convinced I’d never have another match again. Obviously that was kinda dumb because I’ve had many matches since then with most of them not being anywhere near that level of magnitude. I could’ve made a lot of money and I don’t think I would’ve hurt the relationship.

Then once I became the guy that almost left, then did leave, let me put it this way, I still don’t feel like I can go into Vince’s office and take free food. I just don’t feel like I can do that anymore. For 3 years, I knew that whenever Vince went to the broadcast booth it was my time to have a fillet or 3 or more.

    The Undertaker’s WrestleMania Undefeated Streak:

I just think going 20-0 is the way to end the streak. I think he ended at an amazing last match, the number 20 has an allure and an appeal that numbers 21 22, 23 and 24 don’t and at this point I don’t know if there’s that opponent. He’s basically had all the matches, he’s had all the payoffs to the matches with history. The one guy that could get people interested is Punk.

  • Mick Foley On Whether He’d Wrestle Again & Why His Feud With Dean Ambrose Ended

Future WWE Hall of Fame inductee Mick Foley held a comedy show in Adelaide, Australia over the weekend and spoke to the audience about a few wrestling-related items, including whether we’ll ever see him in the ring again and why his off-air feud with Dean Ambrose ended somewhat abruptly.

After feuding with Dean Ambrose on Twitter last year (and having a face-to-face confrontation with him during WrestleMania 28 weekend), Foley there were plans for them to wrestle at SummerSlam. Foley said he pitched the idea for him to wrestle Ambrose as Mankind, with a fake “Dude Love” coming out and attacking Ambrose during his entrance while Mankind would come through the ring, a gimmick he cleared with the Undertaker.

The plans had to be dropped after he got a diagnosis from his neurologist saying he should not be in the ring.

During their social media war last year, Foley said he felt Ambrose went too far by making personal remarks about his family. When Foley told him to lay off his family, Dean kept bringing up his wife and kids, thinking that Foley’s request to stop was part of Foley “working” the angle.

  • The Rock “Teddy Bear” Movie Update, Shelton Benjamin Rumble Joke, Foley-Nerdist

    – We reported last week that The Rock has signed on for a new movie titled, “Teddy Bear,” which is based off an illustration by software engineer Alex Panagopoulos. The picture, which depicts a teddy bear protecting a sleeping child and fighting off an evil monster, is titled “Sweet Halloween Dreams” and can be viewed here.

    – Mick Foley announced that he’ll be appearing on an upcoming episode of the Nerdist podcast.

    – In response to rumors that he would be appearing as a surprise entrant at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view, Shelton Benjamin tweeted on Sunday night, “Hey is the rumble over? How’d I do?” Benjamin was in Phoenix over the weekend and stayed at the same hotel as the WWE Crew, but was only in town to work an indy show.

  • Planned Royal Rumble Surprise Nixed, Mick Foley and Shawn Michaels Appear On “The JBL & Cole Show”, More

    – WWE contacted Rikishi to participate in Sunday’s 30-Man Royal Rumble Match but the veteran wrestler is unable to appear due to a prior commitment, Jerry “The King” Lawler revealed in an interview with New York Post promoting WrestleMania Axxess.

“I do know that they had contacted Rikishi, but he had a prior commitment that he could not get out of. My son Brian told me that it was just a commitment he literally could not get out of even though he really wanted to [be in the Rumble],” Lawler said.

Lawler also hinted that former stars could resurface as surprise entrants.

“The Royal Rumble has become our next biggest and most fan-favorite pay-per-view. It’s so unpredictable. I know for a fact, I don’t know who it will be, but there’s always some surprise entrants. There will be some people that you didn’t have a clue they were going to be involved in the Rumble.”

To read the full interview, click here.

    – This week’s edition of The JBL & Cole Show features appearances by Mick Foley and Shawn Michaels, who have some kind words for JBL. Plus, Hornswoggle faces off with Daniel Bryan and his “magician’s assistant” in the “SUPERStar Search.”

    – Darren Young is featured in today’s “Superstar Spotlight” on WWE.com.

  • WWE Hall Of Famer Hospitalized, Ziggler & AJ’s Crappy New Year, Foley-HOF

    – Today’s wrestling birthdays include former WWE superstar Dave Batista (44) and WWE legend “The Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase (59).

    – WWE Legend Superstar Billy Graham is back in the hospital with double pneumonia.

    – An interesting note regarding WWE’s New Year’s Eve edition of RAW. WWE (and TNA) title the scripts for each show they produce, like most television shows. According to f4wonline.com, the script for the December 31st RAW was titled, “Crappy New Year,” a nod to the substance that covered Dolph Ziggler and AJ Lee at the end of the show.

    – WWE has released the following video looking at Mick Foley’s 2013 Hall of Fame induction:
