  • Foley Teases He’ll Be On Team Teddy, The Miz Responds

Mick Foley and The Miz have been going back and forth via Twitter after Foley teased that he may join Teddy Long’s team at WrestleMania. Foley tweeted over the weekend:

“Guess it’s about time I listen to some of these voicemails from Teddy Long. Wonder what he wants. Catch you all tomorrow.”

Foley followed up with the following joke, but his initial tweet was enough to get a reaction from The Miz:

“No big deal. Teddy was just hoping I had Buff Bagwell’s number – apparently, it’s pretty important.”

Miz, who still does not have a match at WrestleMania and has been petitioning for a spot on Team Laurinaitis, replied to foley:

“Hey @realMickFoley quit trying to make yourself relevant again. Unlike u I don’t settle I make things happen.”

    Foley responded with:

“Yes, @MikeTheMiz you ARE awesome…as a character in my new children’s book, in which The Miz learns a valuable holiday lesson from @CMPunk”

There has been talk of The Miz may replacing Alberto Del Rio in John Laurinaitis’ team, which may put Mick Foley and Miz on opposite sides of the match.

  • Foley Teases Return To Television, Garcia Teasing Continues

    — Mick Foley, who has not appeared on WWE programming since the Royal Rumble, teased a return to company storylines Sunday night via Twitter as he said he received voice-mails from SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long.

“Guess it’s about time I listen to some of these voice-mails from Teddy Long. Wonder what he wants. Catch you all tomorrow,” he wrote. However, he suggested minutes later it was a joke, writing, “No big deal. Teddy was just hoping I had Buff Bagwell’s number – apparently, it’s pretty important.”

Foley is scheduled for an upcoming WWE show as he will appear at the April 9 Raw SuperShow taking place at the Verizon Center in Washington D.C.

    — WWE ring announcer Tony Chimel took a jab at Lilian Garcia at Saturday’s SmackDown live event in Bowling Green, Kentucky as during a mic check he announced “1, 2, Long Island Iced Z, Jack Swagger!” This was in reference to Garcia’s mistake at Tuesday’s SmackDown taping in Newark, New Jersey where she introduced Ryder as “Long Island Iced Z, Jack Swagger.” John Cena ridiculed Garcia’s ring announcing ability after the taping had concluded, proclaiming to the live audience, “She looks absolutely beautiful, but doesn’t know what the hell she’s doing!”

  • HBK-Legends House, Orton-Movies, Rock-Cena Tension, McIntyre

    – Shawn Michaels flew out to California over the weekend to tape footage for WWE’s Legends House reality show. According to sources involved in the show’s production, Michaels took the legends fishing and had dinner with them.

    – Add Mick Foley to the list of WWE personalities who think there is legit heat between WrestleMania 28 opponents The Rock and John Cena. Foley tweeted over the weekend:

“I believe there has been genuine tension between @JohnCena and @TheRock for a long time. #anythingcouldhappen

    – Randy Orton mentioned on that he has a new movie role coming up in the near future.

    – On Friday’s SmackDown, guest General Manager John Laurinaitis booked Drew McIntyre in a match against Hornswoggle to get his job back. McIntyre won the match and Laurinaitis reinstated him as an active member of the SmackDown roster.

The Insider recently featured a segment revealing “5 things you didn’t know” about actor Sacha Baron Cohen (Borat, The Dictator). For those who don’t know, Cohen is a huge pro wrestling fan and is good friends with John Cena.

    – The New York Post reports 2005 Divas Search semi-finalist Jaynie Baker is the alleged partner of accused NYC “millionaire madam” Anna Gristina.

  • Seth Rollins Competes At Live Event, Lilian Garcia In NYC, More

    — WWE developmental wrestler Seth Rollins defeated Drew McIntyre at Saturday’s SmackDown live event in East Lansing, Michigan. He previously toured with the main roster in late December as he beat Tyson Kidd in singles matches at three consecutive SmackDown live events.

    — SmackDown ring announcer Lilian Garcia appeared at Planet Hollywood in Times Square on Wednesday to promote her latest music video. Photos from her appearance are available here.

    — Mick Foley commented on the reaction to his public concern for WWE’s on-screen treatment of Eve.

“Not everyone agreed with my comments, but from time to time I feel like a should add my voice to certain subjects,” he tweeted.

Foley wrote this week that WWE is sending a “mixed message” with the name-calling toward Eve since it contradicts their anti-bullying campaign ‘be a STAR’ and John Cena’s motto to “Rise Above Hate.”

  • Mick Foley Not Happy With Name Calling Toward Eve Torres

After Eve declared on Raw SuperShow two weeks ago that she’d taken advantage of Zack Ryder’s feelings to further her own career and planned on doing the same with John Cena, she quickly became the recipient of great scorn. Cena proclaimed on the same show that he lost a “broski” for a “hoeski;” this has led to the WWE Diva being inundated with the derogatory name at live events and through social media outlets. Legendary wrestler Mick Foley, a friend of Eve’s, is not fond of this uncomplimentary storyline and is voicing his concern through Twitter.

Foley initially played up the storyline on the micro-blogging site by saying Ryder should give Eve another chance. A follower of Foley’s disagreed, writing, “Once a #Hoeski, always a #Hoeski.” He responded by saying both Ryder and Cena should apologize to Eve for calling her that name.

“Sorry, @LizBDecker, but @ZackRyder should take @EveMarieTorres back AND apologize for calling her that name. @JohnCena should apologize too,” Foley wrote. “It’s important to be able to disagree without being disagreeable. @ZackRyder should just say #noski when it comes to using the word #hoeski.”

Foley adds that WWE is sending a “mixed message” with the name-calling since it contradicts their anti-bullying campaign ‘be a STAR’ and Cena’s motto to “Rise Above Hate.”

“I wouldn’t be so uneasy with the name-calling if not for Be a Star and @JohnCena rising above hate. Mixed message,” he wrote in response to the following comment: “How does John Cena accusing Eve of being a skank and of being diseased fit with the Be a Star campaign?”

Foley continues, “I think @zackryder can come out of this looking good, but not if he gives into something as cheap and easy as name-calling.”

He was also asked whether the storyline is a product of lazy writing or indicative of a blatant sexism problem within WWE.

“I really love what WWE is doing with it’s anti-bullying campaign – but the “hoeski” thing did strike me as the lazy way out,” Foley responded.

This is not the first time where Foley has publicly taken a stand for a female being demeaned on WWE programming as he took offense online to Triple H belittling ring announcer Lilian Garcia with a hurtful behind-the-scenes joke during a 2010 episode of Raw. He acknowledged then that speaking out against the WWE head may have cost himself professionally down the road, but vehemently felt he had to take a stand.

  • Tweets From Rock, JR, Foley: Cena Feud Getting Personal

WWE legend Mick Foley tweeted the following on Monday night regarding The Rock and John Cena’s segment that closed the show:

“That promo felt kind of uncomfortable to watch. Not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.”

Former WWE announcer Jack Korpela wrote:

“@TheRock is simply on a different level. Makes @JohnCena and @CMPunk look amateur. What does @wwe have to do to build a new Rock? @TheRock proved again tonight why he is among the top three @wwe superstars ever. @HulkHogan @steveaustinBSR and @therock made this business”

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross seems to think there could be legit heat between The Rock and Cena:

“@JohnCena calling @TheRock a “SOB” tonite shocked me & made me uncomfortable. Sounded more personal than in a professional context…IMO.”

    “It’s getting personal…@JohnCena & @TheRock…legit. Guaranteed. No BS.”

When asked directly by a fan whether there is legit heat between Rock and Cena, JR replied :

“If there wasn’t before tonight, there certainly seems to be now.”

The Rock tweeted the following after RAW:

“Team Bring It: Tonight we made history. Dominated Twitter. #TheRock #Boots2Asses #CenasMissingBalls.”

    He later added:

“Portland, Oregon: THANK YOU for a historic & unforgettable night. An honor to entertain you on RAW. #TeamBringItStrong.”

  • Details On Eve’s Heel Turn, Foley’s Career Regrets, Kofi-Cole

    – On Monday’s RAW, we saw a full-on heel turn from WWE diva Eve, who admitted to the Bella Twins that she is nothing more than a manipulating bimbo. Eve said she was never interested in Zack Ryder – she used him to climb the social ranks and get to the biggest fish in the pond – John Cena, who overheard the entire conversation. Eve tried everything she could do to convince John Cena that it was all a big misunderstanding, but she was carried away from Cena crying hysterically when he wanted nothing to do with her.

With Eve’s evil intentions exposed, there is talk of pairing Eve with a heel WWE superstar and have them feud with Zack Ryder and a babyface Diva, possibly Layla.

    – Mick Foley posted a few messages on Twitter this week revealing his top 3 career regrets:

    • Not wrestling Vince McMahon at WrestleMania 17
    • Not wrestling on the first Eddie Gilbert memorial show
    • Not writing the foreword to the Lou Thesz autobiography when asked.

Regarding his decision to not wrestle Vince McMahon at WrestleMania 17, Foley said that back in 2001, he truly believed that he was retired for good, so he turned the match down.

    – Michael Cole apologized on Twitter for messing up Kofi Kingston’s name on RAW. Cole tweeted:

“I want to apologize for messing up @TrueKofi Kingston’s name tonight. So here goes: Sorry you aren’t more memorable, Kofi. #Raw”

Kingston, who has been teaming with R-Truth as of late, responded:

“@MichaelCole MayB i cld b as memorable as ur stellar commentary. U learn the dif btw a figure 4 of the head and the Anaconda Vice yet? Dunce”

  • CM Punk Debuts New Look, Attude Era DVD, Lawler

    – Mick Foley stated on Twitter that he was at WWE’s television studios in Stamford, Connecticut Friday shooting footage for a DVD highlighting the “Attitude Era.” He wrote:

“Those were good times, kid. I was just in Stamford, CT today, shooting the Attitude DVD, saying @steveaustinBSR was THE man in that era!”

    – Jerry “The King” Lawler appears for Mid South Championship Wrestling on March 3, 2012 at the Charles Strong Recreation Center in Luxora, Arkansas.

    – CM Punk will appear at Elimination Chamber with a new look – one we’ve never seen from him in WWE. For the first time in over 10 years, CM Punk has shaved off his beard and has no facial hair. The WWE Champion did a number of media appearances on Friday and was asked by Real Milwaukee why he no longer has any facial hair:

“I haven’t been this clean-shaven in like a decade. I did it when I got home, I think Tuesday, and I really don’t have an explanation for you.”

Punk also talked about the origins of his ring name, his straight-edge lifestyle, his finishing maneuver and more. Check out this video of Punk’s new look:

  • What Happened After RAW, Foley Concerned For Ryder

    – After Monday’s RAW Supershow went off the air, Kane came back out as the crowd sang “nah nah nah nah, hey hey hey, goodbye.” As Kane made his way to the ring, John Cena gave him the Attitude Adjustment. Their advertised dark match then took place.

The other advertised dark match did take place, as CM Punk retained the WWE championship against Dolph Ziggler after nailing Ziggler with the Go To Sleep. After the match, Punk grabbed a mic and dedicated his win to Zack Ryder, who had his heart (and possibly a few bones) broken on RAW at the hands of John Cena and Kane.

    – Hardcore wrestling legend Mick Foley expressed concern over Zack Ryder’s bump off the entrance ramp at the end of RAW last night. Foley tweeted the following:

“I’m legit concerned for @zackryder. There’s just way too much risk there. That fall off the ramp might not be something you can get through with fortitude and ice packs. Zack has such a bright future; I hate to see his knees, ankles, and spine at such risk. That’s the type of thing that could cost him weeks or months at the most vital time of his career.”

  • Mick Foley Talks WWE Future, Attitude Era vs. Today & More

Hardcore wrestling legend Mick Foley recently spoke with the UK’s Daily Star to promote his upcoming comedy tour. Here are some highlights of what Foley said about:

Competing At The Royal Rumble: “I had to sit back afterwards and think about all the things that had transpired in the five or six minutes I was out there. I realised just how much fun it was at that point. I had some great reactions from the other wrestlers and my children.”

His Status with WWE: “I’m on a need to know basis going forward, I’d like to get involved in some way. I can’t wrestle very often any more. Apart from the run-in, the Rumble was the perfect way to play to my remaining strengths and not expose my many weaknesses!”

The Attitude Era vs. Today: “Are you saying thumbtacks aren’t fun?! Look, as a dad the thing I enjoy the most about the current product is not having to tell my kids to change the channel when sexual chocolate comes on.”

“The Attitude era was fun for different reasons, it was risque, but a lot was not appropriate for kids. The new style forces wrestlers to be creative and not rely on chair shots to get a pop.”

  • Mick Foley Praises Three TNA Stars, Knockout Heading To Japan

    — Mick Foley went on Twitter to compliment TNA Wrestling stars James Storm, Bobby Roode and Bully Ray for their performance on Thursday’s episode of Impact Wrestling.

    — Madison Rayne turns 26 years old Sunday.

  • Cena’s Angry Face, Foley Bumped, DiBiase & McIntyre Updates

    Cena Mad

    – On Monday’s RAW, John Cena made an “angry face” at the camera after Zack Ryder was taken away in an ambulance. WWE is teasing that Cena is finally giving in to the dark side “embracing the hate.”

It’s highly unlikely that John Cena will never undergo a complete heel turn, but his recent storyline with Kane has allowed an emotionally battered Cena to show a darker side.

A possible scenario that’s been discussed for Sunday’s match between Cena and Kane is that Cena will snap on Kane and his anger will explode to the point where he gets himself disqualified.

    – Ted DiBiase is backstage for tonight’s WWE SmackDown tapings in Tucson, Arizona and sporting a brace on his wrist.

DiBiase has reportedly been trying to downplay his wrist injury to those within WWE.

    – Mick Foley’s appearance on the ABC show Wife Swap will be postponed due to President Obama’s State of the Union Address tonight. The episode will air next Tuesday at 9pm EST.

    – There is some confusion as to Drew McIntyre’s future on the SmackDown brand. McIntyre was fired by Teddy Long during last wek’s show, but appeared as one of the lumberjacks during the main event.

  • JR Blog: Bourne’s Suspension, Foley’s Return, Legends House

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has updated his blog, which you can read in its entirety over at JRsBarBQ.com. Here are some highlights of what JR wrote about:

Can Mick Foley Still Wrestle?: ” I don’t think that Mick will return as a full-time or likely not even a part time wrestler. If we saw Mrs. Foley’s baby boy once or twice a year in his wrestling gear, I’d suggest that would be enough. There are so many positive things that Mick can do for WWE other than just wrestle.”

Legends House: “I see ‘trainwreck’ written all over this show especially when one considers the fact that the people chosen will be in the same house, isolated apparently from their loved ones, for likely 4-6 weeks. Being a reality show fan, I see amazing potential in this concept.”

Working With Joey Styles: “Will @JoeyStyles and JR ever call a match together?’ Likely not on weekly TV, but perhaps we might get to do something together on the WWE Network. We’ve discussed working together at some point when the platform and the time is right.”

Evan Bourne’s Wellness Policy Violation: “Obviously unfortunate for the talent. Two strikes are never good but I want to make it clear that I know zero details.. Nonetheless, this matter is being taken seriously as it should be and is terribly perplexing why a talent would travel the same road again.”

  • Foley Talks RAW, Update On WWE Signing Jody Kristofferson

    – Hardcore legend Mick Foley wrote the following on Twitter regarding his surprise appearance on Monday’s RAW:

“Very cool to be out there again, exchanging words and blows. Hope to see everyone in the #WWE Universe again soon.”

Foley announced on RAW that he plans to enter Sunday’s Royal Rumble pay-per-view so his youngest children can see him wrestle again. Foley stated that he plans to compete “at least one more time” – leaving the door open for another high profile match, possibly at WrestleMania 28.

    – Goldust noted on Twitter yesterday that WWE is seriously considering a match between he and brother Cody Rhodes for WrestleMania 28.

    – Former WWE star David Hart Smith appeared on the Major League Wrestling podcast this week and had the following to say about his time with the company:

“We had a good title run with Tyson Kidd. I was kind of disheartened that more didn’t happen with my time in the company. I felt that i certainly had enough talent… It’s not exactly in my short-term plans to go back there. We’ll put the bookmark in this chapter read on and maybe go back to it sometime. It was definitely hot/cold with the company. When it was good it was good, and when it was bad it was like WWE isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.”

  • Orton’s Injury Reportedly Legitimate, WWE’s Year In Comebacks

  • Details On Michael Cole’s Crass Joke About Lilian Garcia

Returning to WWE after a more than two-year hiatus, Lilian Garcia appeared on Friday’s episode of SmackDown as the program’s new ring announcer.

Tony Chimel introduced Garcia to the live audience at the start of the broadcast, who was already standing in the ring. As Garcia talked about how great it was to be back, she was interrupted by Cody Rhodes, who was standing on the announce table. Rhodes said no one cares she is back since no one noticed she had left. Garcia danced with Hornswoggle later during the show, which gave commentator Michael Cole the opportunity to air a crass backstage joke.

He cracked, “I wish these two would stop horsing around!”

The reference stems from those in WWE’s “inner circle”—Vince McMahon, Triple H, television producer Kevin Dunn and the since departed John “Bradshaw” Layfield—often joking that Garcia has a horse-shaped face. The crass joke was passed around backstage years ago and ultimately acknowledged on television by Layfield and Hunter to amuse company employees. Though Garcia has publicly taken the joke in stride, Mick Foley took offense to Hunter demeaning the “Decade Diva” during an episode of Raw last year in which she had filled in for regular ring announcer Justin Roberts.

He wrote online after watching on television Triple H tell Garcia she can always return to WWE to “horse around,” “Why does someone like Triple H, one of the most talented, well paid guys in the business, do something so shallow and mean? Why would a multi-millionaire, with millions of fans around the world, feel the need (several times over the years) to say something that is only meant to hurt? I don’t get it. I don’t get why it’s done, I don’t get why it’s condoned, I don’t get what possible satisfaction anyone involved gets from demeaning someone like Lillian Garcia. I just don’t get it.”

The latest reference was likely directed by Triple H, who filled in for McMahon at Tuesday’s SmackDown taping since the WWE CEO was off visiting U.S. Armed Forces serving in Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan. Cole is the mouthpiece of the program director, as he is fed lines via headset. It was not the only mean-spirited remark on Friday’s show as Cole made light of Jim Ross suffering from Bell’s palsy after Josh Mathews said Cole speaks out of both sides of his mouth.

Cole quipped, “Actually, there is nothing wrong with my mouth, unlike J.R.’s.”
