Mickie James Denies She Caused Problems At Bound For Glory

New TNA Knockout Mickie James has responded to Internet reports that she was causing problems backstage at Sunday’s Bound For Glory PPV. According to various reports (and our own sources), Mickie James became very angry when she saw the referee shirt she was supposed to wear did not have her logo on the back. She, however, denies the reports. She wrote on Twitter Monday night:

“I usually don’t even bother to entertain ignorance. But to report blatant lies is quite humorous… Anyone who knows me… Knows I would never behave like that… And they also know I respect & appreciate everyone as we all work hard as a team to make an incredible product. Fact! The seamstress already knew she was putting the logo on the shirt Thursday. Fact. I bought a ref shirt to make but when Earl gave me one of his official TNA shirts I couldn’t resist. Fact. Post match I gave the shirt to the trading card company to be cut up and added to the new cards coming soon. =)”

Mickie James Goes Nuts Backstage At Bound For Glory

Mickie James made her TNA debut just a few days ago – but we received word from two people who were backstage at Bound For Glory that she’s already making diva demands and is gettinga reputation as difficult to work with.

Mickie James was reportedly very upset before Bound For Glory because her Mickie James logo was not on the back of the referee shirt she was given to wear during the Knockouts match.

Mickie was so mad that she was given a plain referee shirt (without her personal logo on the back) that she refused to go out on camera unless the logo was added.

One of TNA’s designers reportedly rushed to get the logo on the shirt and sewed it on just in time for the match to go on as planned.

James was interviewed on the live TNA Reaction special that followed iMPACT! and was interviewed backstage about her role in the TNA Knockouts title match at Bound For Glory this Sunday. Despite the fac tthat Mickie James’ name was spelled “Mickey James” on an an on-screen graphic during iMPACT!, the TNA website is  referring to her as “Mickie” (not Mickey) – so the one instance of her name being spelled “Mickey” appears to be a mistake.

“I think I’d much rather run head 1st in2 a brick wall… Without judgment… Lmao!” she tweeted.

Regarding the former WWE Diva’s source of contention with “The Animal,” it was reported shortly after her departure from WWE earlier this year that she had a few backstage “run-ins” with him during her final few months in the company. One of the hottest names on the wrestling scene right now as she sets her sights on success outside of it, Mickie James stops by to discuss her new CD, her upcoming concert supporting Gretchen Wilson and Montgomery Gentry, and her time in the wrestling business working in bars and clubs all the way through working in front of nearly 100,000 on the showcase of the immortals, WrestleMania. It is a fun interview with a talented performer.

MICKIE JAMES

– Mickie comes onto the show and jumps into a discussion on her new album “Strangers & Angels” and she says the experience has been very positive with good reviews & a great fan response.

– She decided to go into music because its something she’s always loved. She played violin in high school and was always interested in it, and she began writing songs while on the road in the WWE. She was never professionally trained to sing, but decided to give it a shot and she’s very happy with how its turned out.

– For right now, she’s trying to balance both wrestling & music, and will actually be facing Awesome Kong in October. She did make it sound as though music was more the route she was hoping to travel.

– Going into her wrestling career, James mentions being a fan of her work since first seeing her in BBOW back in 2001. She says going from the independents to the WWE was a huge accomplishment in her career. She was also very proud of the storyline with herself and Trish Stratus for Wrestlemania 22. She feels she was brought up to the main roster in an awesome story that helped her in the long run.

– James mentions that on this show’s WrestleMania 22 preview years ago, they remarked that the longest running story going into the show was the Mickie/Trish angle and as a result, it was one of the most anticipated. Mickie says there was pressure to deliver, but they both knew their characters well & understood the storyline perfectly, so they made it work.

– In comparing music to wrestling, she says that wrestling is more of a display of strength while performing music shows a more vulnerable side of her, so fans get to see a different side to her personality.

– She talks about her appearance on the television show “Psych” and she had a lot of fun playing the role she played. She says acting isn’t really the route she’s attempting to travel but she’s open to it.

– Mickie felt that the reason WWE didn’t want to use her Indy name “Alexis Laree” is because they probably thought it didn’t sound like a real name. She had no problems using her real name on WWE television as the name sounds cool. She gives her mother props for the cool name though Mickie and James brieftly joke about the “Hey Mickie” song from the 80’s.

– When she started going into music, she says that the WWE supported her every step along the way up until she left the company.

– Dixie Carter attended some of Mickie’s concerts, and when asked if she’d go back to TNA, she says its something that interests her. However, she wants to balance both music & wrestling. She says she’ll have to see where music takes her and if she would be able to do both. She did also mention that TNA has a less strenuous schedule.

– She’s going to perform at a huge concert in her hometown of Richmond, VA with huge country music talents such as Gretchen Wilson and Montgomery Gentry. She says it’s a huge honor to be doing a big show like that, especially with big names involved. She says it is by far the biggest audience she’ll have ever sung in front of and is so happy that it is in her own hometown.

– She has heard people compare it to Gretchen Wilson which she sees as a massive compliment but she wants Gretchen to sound like Gretchen and Mickie to sound like Mickie.

– Mickie describes her music as “Where country meets rock”. James says he can hear a lot of rock influence, especially classic Southern rock. Mickie seems happy that he caught that.

– The discussion shifts to her leaving the WWE. Mickie says that there were goals she wishes she had accomplished, but was happy with her success there. When asked about the “Piggy James” story with Michelle McMcool, she acknowledges the mixed reactions the storyline got, but it ultimately didn’t get the payoff it needed because she got the Staff Infection. She also talks about how she forced herself to be ready in time for Wrestlemania 26.

– She has written more music for another album and hopes to keep growing bigger and bigger in her music career as she continues to improve.

– James mentions that recent guests have said how loyal wrestling fans are. Mickie agrees saying she has some of the best fans in the world and that wrestling fans are a lot like music fans in that if they really connect with you, they’ll be fans for life. She loves them all.

Mickie James Discusses WWE Release, Piggy James Angle, More

Former WWE Women’s Champion Mickie James weighed in on a number of topics in an interview with The Baltimore Sun including her recent departure from World Wrestling Entertainment, the Piggy James storyline, her music career, and more.

James says she hasn’t watched wrestling on television since being released in April, noting it’s much too difficult.

“I didn’t watch wrestling. I still haven’t seen a wrestling show and it’s been three months,” James said. “The only show I’ve watched was right after I was released and they were chanting, ‘We want Mickie, we want Mickie.’ And I started bawling. It just really broke me, so I didn’t know what I wanted to do. So, I started doing some dates. It’s definitely a different feel. Once you’ve wrestled in front of 90,000 people, where do you go from there?”

Regarding her release, she feels the company wanted to go in a different direction with the women’s division. She also says she didn’t understand their decision at the time, but now recognizes the writing on the wall.

“I just think it was the different direction of the Divas. No one can give 100 percent all the time and they can surely try. Looking back, if I take myself from the picture, there was writing on the wall and if I wasn’t so indulged in the business, I would have seen it,” James said. “I never would have shut that chapter on my own. I never would have cut that string on my own, so maybe they had to shut that door on me for to fully focus on my music, so maybe it was a blessing in disguise.”

On the topic of the Piggy James storyline, she noted being more upset with its conclusion than the angle itself. She also remains unsure whether company officials were poking fun at her weight.

“I don’t know where it came from. Were they ribbing me or just poking fun? I sat back and prayed about it. There’s still not one female that can go out there and get a reaction I can,” James said. “And maybe they were trying to pull the fanbase away from me, but I got the championship, then they took it away. After six months of embarrassment and ridicule, that’s the payoff? I had to swallow my pride.”

James also discusses her music career and notes plans for a second album and road tour. To view the video interview, click here.

— Former WWE Diva Mickie James was at one point Saturday the fourth most searched for term on Google.com. — Yesterday was former WWE Women’s Champion Sable’s birthday. She is believed to have turned 43 years old.

Mickie James Talks About Working For TNA & Her WWE Relese

Former WWE Diva Mickie James was interviewed by Fanhouse.com this week and spoke about her music career, her WWE release and whether she’d work for TNA Wrestling again.

Here are some highlights of what she said about:

Her WWE Release: “It definitely was heartbreaking and it was out of the blue for me. It totally blindsided me and I didn’t see it coming. But, you know, hindsight is 20-20. Perhaps if I wasn’t so passionate … I don’t know, it’s one of those things that I think I would’ve never cut out on my own because I did love my job and I loved WWE and I loved my fans so much that I would’ve given anything. And I intended to be able to do both, to still wrestle 250 days out of the year and, in the meantime, if we’re in Savannah, Georgia, do the show that night and then maybe go to a bar and even if it’s like a little acoustic set, do a mini-acoustic set afterward and then hit the radio stations the next morning … I had this whole plan. So it kind of totally hit me out of left field, but maybe it was a blessing in disguise because now I can really concentrate on the music, and kind of cherry-pick when I’m gonna wrestle and what I’m gonna do and rebuild my plan of what I want to do and where I want to go.”

Her Music Career Being Her Top Priority: “Here’s the deal — I think that I’ve made my mark in the industry and I’ve made a legacy in the business, and granted there’s a lot more that I wanted to do, but it kind of fell short. So now it’s just a moving forward thing. I don’t think that anything that I could do in the industry right now on this level, in the wrestling industry, would ever compare to wrestling in front of 90,000 people. Unless it’s right and it’s the perfect thing, my focus is on the music. My heart and soul, that’s where I’m at right now, all my focus is on that.”

Working For TNA: “Well certainly I’ve entertained the thought and it’s one of those things … there has to be this beautiful marriage between the two. Obviously my music right now is in the forefront, and if there’s a way to be able to do it and still … you know, because TNA’s schedule is certainly less demanding, maybe what, 100 dates out of the year? Obviously it would give me a lot more time, but it would also give me that platform to be able to be there for my wrestling fans and hope that they would support me with my music.”
