Alexa Bliss On Not Having A Stipulation In Her TLC Match With Mickie James

WWE Monday Night RAW Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss recently did an interview with NBC Sports to promote her title defense against Mickie James at tonight’s (Sun. October 22, 2017) Tables Ladders and Chairs (TLC) pay-per-view (PPV). “Little Miss Bliss” discussed how she found her voice while in NXT, her match with Mickie  James tonight not having a stipulation, and how she adjusted her personality when she was cast as a member of the Total Divas reality show. You can read the highlights here:

How she found her voice in NXT:

“I watched back our first few NXT matches together when I was managing them and realized that I was just silent. I wasn’t doing anything, I wasn’t saying anything. I was just looking at them in silence. And I was like ‘Hmm, well that’s nothing.’ I remember specifically trying more and more to be mean and I was trying to think of a character that’s relatable and I was like oh my gosh, a mean girl from high school. Everyone knows her. Everyone had one. Some people were her and no matter how mean she was, you still voted for her for homecoming queen.

“I was like I want to be that girl because I knew that girl in high school. I knew a few of those girls in high school. I knew that everyone did. So that was my main motivation was to be that girl. I get my inspiration from movies and a lot of the time I’ll actually people-watch when I’m at the airport. William Regal told us to people-watch because you can get your best motivation from them. I’ll notice little mannerisms that irritate me and I know they will irritate other people.”

Her match with Mickie James tonight not having a stipulation:

“I’m OK with it being a normal one-on-one [match]. Of course stipulations are always cooler and more fun, but I feel like if we were to do a stipulation match it would have to be something that was driven towards the storyline that we’re doing right now. I’m talking about her being old, so it should be like a walker match.”

Adjusting her personality after being cast on Total Divas:

“I had a little bit of an adjustment period for sure because I’m so used to when the camera is on, I turn into Alexa Bliss, this mean, ‘attitudy’ character. So I had to get out of that because our first filming was at TV. So, I’m in a work environment and it was just a different camera, so as soon as the camera came on I was thinking ‘Wait, I can’t be that way, I have to be me.'”

RAW Women’s Championship Match Announced For WWE TLC

Alexa Bliss insulted six time Women’s Champion Mickie James on RAW last week and called her an “old lady”. Bliss continued to poke fun at Mickie tonight on RAW by placing diapers in her locker room. Mickie tried to confront Bliss in her locker room but Nia Jax got in the way.

Nia Jax and Mickie James then faced off on RAW. Mickie hit a Tornado DDT off the turnbuckle and had the match won but Alexa Bliss broke up the pinfall. Alexa then started to attack Mickie James and Nia Jax was disqualified.

Mickie James got the last laugh and booted Alexa in the face on the entrance ramp. Mickie was later interviewed backstage and said that she wanted to become RAW Women’s Champion. RAW General Manager Kurt Angle appeared and said that Mickie James will get a shot at the RAW Women’s Championship based on her history and her performance tonight.

Alexa Bliss will defend her RAW Women’s Championship against Mickie James at WWE TLC on October 22nd.

Sasha Banks came down to the ring and introduced Bayley. Bayley joined Sasha in the ring and thanked the WWE Universe for believing in her. Sasha congratulated Bayley on achieving her Wrestlemania moment but claimed that moment was over. Sasha was about to challenge Bayley for her Raw Women’s Championship but Alexa Bliss interrupted. Alexa Bliss came down to the ring and received a great reaction from the crowd.

Mickie James then joined the party and announced that she was also joining the Raw roster. Mickie James warned Alexa Bliss that her nightmare has just begun on Monday Night Raw. AJ Styles’ WWE Profile Moved to Alumni, Natalya Declares Herself The Leader Of The Locker Room

AJ Styles attacked Smackdown Commissioner Shane McMahon last night on Smackdown and slammed his head through a car window. Smackdown GM Daniel Bryan then “fired” AJ Styles shortly after that. Smackdown went off the air with Shane McMahon stating that Styles now has an opponent for Wrestlemania 33. Today, the WWE has removed Styles from their active roster on their website and placed him in the Alumni roster. Styles clearly isn’t actually fired but it appears that Smackdown will be continuing with the storyline that Styles is off the Smackdown roster, even after Shane McMahon challenged him to a match last night.

Carmella and Mickie James were on Talking Smack last night and were interrupted by Natalya and Becky Lynch. Natalya declared herself the leader of the Women’s division on Smackdown and nobody bought it. Alexa Bliss then showed up and blamed Daniel Bryan for causing all of this chaos. Daniel Bryan announced last week that Alexa Bliss will be defending her Smackdown Women’s Championship against “every available woman on the Smackdown roster” at Wrestlemania 33.

Mickie James Revealed As La Luchadora On SmackDown (Video)

Mickie James returned to WWE TV on tonight’s SmackDown in Memphis and was revealed to be the one under the La Luchadora mask. Mickie appeared during the main event and helped SmackDown Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss defeat Becky Lynch in a steel cage match.

Mickie is set to be a regular SmackDown roster member from here on out after signing a multi-year deal several weeks back.

Check out video from the end of the match below:

Former Champion Rumored To Return On SmackDown Tonight

Mickie James scheduled to be at this week’s WWE SmackDown Live from Memphis and could be making her WWE television return as soon as tonight.

Mickie signed what was reported to be a 3-year deal with WWE back in December. It was reported that she would be debuting on SmackDown in January and that she was offered the deal due to her great match with Asuka at NXT TakeOver: Toronto in November.

There’s no confirmation on creative plans for Mickie but speculation is that she will be revealed to be the one behind the La Luchadora mask. Announced for this week’s SmackDown is Alexa Bliss defending the SmackDown Women’s Championship against Becky Lynch inside of a steel cage, which may be the perfect environment for La Luchadora to be revealed.

Discussion: Who would you like to see Mickie James enter a storyline with on SmackDown?

WWE In Signing Mode For 2017, Upcoming Training Camp, Women’s Tournament

WWE officials are in talent acquisition mode right now and there will be several recognizable names signed during the first quarter of 2017. Several talents are scheduled to report to the WWE Performance Center on 1/3 and a PC tryout session is planned for early February. According to PWInsider, Some of the names reporting to work in January are for the all women’s tournament, including Evie, Nixon Newell, Heidi Lovelace and Kimber Lee, who was used as an enhancement talent on NXT this week against Ember Moon.

WWE is said to be working harder than ever to evaluate & watch the indy scene, to the point where they are having agents watch iPPV events to do full agent reports on those shows. WWE does a similar report on their own house shows as a way to track talents and how they’re improving.

On a related note, we reported earlier that Mickie James has signed a multi-year deal to return to the WWE SmackDown brand. PWInsider reports that her deal is for three years.

Report: Mickie James Signs Multi-Year Deal With WWE

Mickie James has signed a new multi-year contract with WWE, according to an exclusive report at PWInsider. She is expected to join the SmackDown brand next month. Pro Wrestling Sheet broke the news earlier this week that James had been offered a new deal.

James returned to WWE after a 6-year hiatus last month at NXT Takeover: Toronto. She came up short against NXT Women’s Champion Asuka in what most would consider a very good match. Her performance at Takeover and her promo work before and after the match were enough to convince WWE officials that she’d be a strong addition to the main roster.

Discusion: Do you want to see Mickie James’ husband Nick Aldis (Magnus) in WWE?

Report: Mickie James Has Been Offered a New Contract by WWE

It looks like Mickie James impressed the right people in her match with Asuka at NXT TakeOver: Toronto. Our friend Ryan Satin at Pro Wrestling Sheet is reporting that according to “multiple sources with direct knowledge,” James has been staying in touch with WWE the last couple weeks and was told that there’s a deal waiting for her to sign if she wants to return.

Probably the biggest potential hiccup would be that James has not been wrestling anything close to full time in the last few years since she gave birth to her son. With her husband, Nick “Magnus” Aldis, also being a working pro wrestler, hat would seemingly make a main roster deal less likely unless they’ve agreed to make a change if there was a prospect of WWE signing either one of them.

Mickie James Writes Open Letter To Joey Styles Following Trump Joke Controversy

Mickie James took to Facebook and offered her support to Joey Styles after he was fired from Evolve, Chikara and Beyond Wrestling for making a Donald Trump-related joke during an iPPV over the weekend.

Catch Up On This Story:

Here’s Mickie’s letter to Joey Styles:

Dear Joey Styles,

I want you to know that I love you. In the midst of all this ugliness surrounding you at the moment I think it’s important you know that. From me and all your friends who you’ve helped throughout your career. How so many have forgotten that because they’d prefer to jump on the bandwagon to make themselves relevant is sad to say the least. I’ve known you for many years & you’ve always been nothing but respectful & loving to me. I’ve never seen you be disrespectful to any woman in the business. If anything you’ve always been so supportive & kind. I thank you for that. It’s a shame that a JOKE, whether it be in bad taste or not, has been taken so far out of context. I’m curious as to what the lady involved thought of this whole thing. Because if it had been me, I would’ve popped because I understand comedic context. Call me old school but had you been a comedian, or an actor in a movie, everyone would’ve laughed. It’s only because everyone is tiptoeing in this politically correct, sponsor endorsed, & way overly sensitive generation that it’s been blown way out the water. Last I checked this is the wrestling business. A business where we have cursed, endorsed sexuality to all kinds of extremes, kissed asses, and even murdered on live tv, that a little political joke seems to be the least of offensive things done. I understand we are in a new era but for goodness sake let’s not lose our sense of humor, or the sight of why we all fell in love with this business in the 1st place. That is to be a character, that can do and say things they would never do or say in real life. Because it’s acting! Also, for all your “Friends” who have jumped on the bandwagon now that you’ve been “Fired”, also a complete joke because you CAN NOT fire an independent contractor, they should be ashamed of themselves. Yes they have a right to their own opinion but we should also remember… people in Glass Houses shouldn’t throw stones. That means pretty much everyone in this business as it’s one of the dirtiest games ever played. That’s my 2 cents… and it’s worth exactly what you paid for it… but since everyone else seems to feel so important to throw out their public statements then why not. Lastly, I will say this again… I love you, I respect you, and I respect everything you’ve done for this business that I adore. This too shall pass…

Always your Friend,

Mickie James-Aldis

What Edge Misses About Wrestling, Mickie James NXT Debut Hype, Filming Backstage

– WWE Hall of Famer Edge sat down with ESPN this week to discuss his life since leaving the squared-circle. Edge refuses to give a yes or no on whether he’d ever return to WWE in a non-wrestling capacity, but did mention missing various aspects of the business including the comradery shared with other members of the locker room. He doesn’t seem too heartbroken however, as he adapts to life as a normal person:

“I had a long career that started when I was 17. I wrestled for 20 years, so people forget how long I actually wrestled for. It leaves some good time to accomplish other goals, which I feel like I’m on my way to doing. And then I’ll reset my goals.”

Check out the full interview over at ESPN.com.

– WWE posted the following clip advertising Mickie James’ return to the WWE at NXT “Takeover: Toronto” on November 19th, when she challenges Asuka for the NXT Women’s Championship.

– The “Gorilla Nation” out of the United Kingdom was backstage this weekend at Hell in a Cell in Boston, and the following night at WWE RAW, filming behind-the-scenes footage on Sasha Banks versus Charlotte’s Hell in a Cell match. Mickie James On If She’s Nervous About NXT TakeOver, Preparing For Asuka, Mind Games

Mickie James recently spoke with the WWE website to promote her NXT TakeOver: Toronto match against Asuka for the NXT Women’s Championship. Mickie was asked if she’s nervous about facing Asuka because of what she’s capable of in the ring. Mickie replied:

“Absolutely not! I’m a little crazy as it is, but I’ve been in the ring with some of the greatest Women’s Champions of all time — Trish Stratus, Lita, Beth Phoenix — they were amazing. I know that she hits hard, kicks hard and has killer submissions moves, but I can hit and kick hard and know some submissions. I haven’t been in this business for 17 years and not learned a thing or two.”

Mickie hasn’t worked for TNA or WWE in a few years now and recently gave birth to her first child with Magnus but she’s focused on training for the Asuka match. She commented on how she’s getting ready for the match:

“I’ve been training differently than I ever have before. I’ve been doing a lot of high endurance workouts, to get my wind and strength up, to get that immediate, quick and intense movement going. I feel like I need to be fast on my feet because she’s pretty quick. I’ve also been sharpening my mat skills and submissions, so I can have a few different ways to get out of her holds. I know she has that mental game going on. That doesn’t scare me — I’m the queen of mental games.”

Mickie also discussed the current women’s division and more in the full interview. Check it out by clicking here.

Plans For Shinsuke Nakamura, Video Of Mickie James’ Return On NXT

– NXT Champion Shinsuke Nakamura will remain on WWE’s developmental brand for the foreseeable future, according to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter. As we saw with Finn Balor, WWE likes having an established top babyface as the cornerstone of NXT as they continue expanding into new markets with live events.

At 36 years old, you’d hope Nakamura doesn’t spend as much time in NXT as Balor did. He’s almost unanimously regarded as one of the most charismatic and marketable wrestlers on any of WWE’s rosters. Nakamura would obviously be a tremendous acquisition for either RAW or SmackDown, but we might have to wait until 2017 to see which brand hits the jackpot with him.

– Mickie James’s WWE television return aired on this week’s NXT. The former WWE Women’s Champion sent a message to NXT Women’s Champion Asuaka ahead of their match at TakeOver: on 11/19. Mickie says Asuka has beat some challengers but she hasn’t beat her. Mickie warns Asuka that she’s coming for her title and that it will be an international incident at TakeOver.

Asuka Storyline Plans & News On Her Takeover Match Against Mickie James

It will be interesting to see if NXT Women’s Champion Asuka goes full heel on Mickie James at the 11/18 TakeOver: Toronto event as WWE originally wanted to use the match to turn up the Asuka heel heat for her next challenger, Ember Moon.

As we’ve reported, WWE originally wanted Asuka vs. Trish Stratus in Toronto but Trish is now pregnant with her second child. The idea was to use Trish in Toronto to make Asuka into a bigger heel. No word yet if that’s still the plan for Mickie vs. Asuka, which will be for the NXT Women’s Championship.

Regarding Ember challenging Asuka for the title, the plan is to have Ember be a stronger babyface against Asuka instead of the athletic competition feel that Asuka vs. Bayley had.

Backstage News On Mickie James’ WWE Return

Former WWE Women’s Champion Mickie James has been announced as NXT Women’s Champion Asuka’s next contender. The title match is scheduled for 11/19 at NXT TakeOver: Toronto. According to Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE originally had big plans for another legendary women’s performer – Trish Stratus.

WWE was working on different storyline ideas for the Hall of Famer, but those got knocked off course when Trish announced she and her husband are expecting their second child. Obviously, that rules out her returning to the ring over the next several months.

As of this writing, it’s believed Mickie has only signed on for the match against Asuka. There have been rumors James could be joining the Performance Center as a trainer and her upcoming WWE return makes that even more likely.

Mickie James vs. Asuka Announced For NXT Takeover: Toronto

Mickie James will face Asuka for the NXT Women’s Championship at NXT Takeover: Toronto.

James, a 5-time WWE Women’s Champion and former Divas Champion, appeared on the big screen at Thursday night’s NXT TV tapings from Full Sail University in Winter Park, FL. She worked for TNA as recently as last year.

Earlier today, NXT General Manager William Regal announced the main event for that show will see NXT Champion Shinsuke Nakamura defending against Samoa Joe.

We’ll have complete spoilers from Thursday’s NXT tapings later tonight.

WWE Teases The Returns Of Former Superstars, Sasha Banks Pulled From Upcoming Event

WWE.com put together a list of 10 of “the hottest” free agents on the market right now and a few former Superstars are mentioned, including Mickie James.

Do Raw and SmackDown Live have James on the brain?

New blood has invigorated the Women’s division in WWE, but few would argue that seeing a veteran like Mickie James come to Raw or SmackDown Live to square off with the likes of Sasha Banks, Charlotte or Becky Lynch wouldn’t be a sight to behold.

The list also includes The Rock, The Undertaker, Nikki Bella, The Brian Kendrick, Bayley, Cryme Tyme, Carlito, The Great Khali and Tajiri.

– Sasha Banks has been pulled from her scheduled appearance at the Wizard World Chicago Comic Con in the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois, on Aug. 18. Bayley will take her place. Click here for details on her schedule.

– A preview of Disney’s 3D computer-animated film Moana with The Rock voicing a lead character will air during NBC’s coverage of the Olympics on Sunday night.

Magnus Says He Didn’t Have Fun In TNA, Criticizes TNA Angles & More

Former TNA Wrestling star and current Global Force Wrestling performer Nick “Magnus” Aldis recently appeared as a guest on the PodNasty Wrestling podcast to talk about a number of subjects. Below are some of the highlights from the interview.

On not having fun toward the end of his TNA run and working with Jeff Jarrett in GFW: “No, absolutely not (I wasn’t having fun in TNA). Some of that’s to do with them, and some of that’s to do with me,” said Magnus.

“Nobody owes you a good time or anything like that, but due to a number of different things I wasn’t having fun there anymore and I just like to work for Jeff (Jarrett) again. I think Jeff is a great boss, a great wrestling guy and he’s got a lot of great experience in the business.”

On dropping the TNA World Heavyweight Championship: “I thought it was premature and immature.”

“To me, I don’t think that decision was just based completely on business. What’s done is done, you know, they made their bed, they’re lying in it and when it comes with what they’re left with now, you get what you pay for.”

On not liking the Mickie James train tracks angle in TNA: “The only person who did like it was the person who wrote it. He had the final say on it, we all suggested alternatives, we all thought it was not going to work and it was not going to get a reaction, and our disregard for it and that was the result of it. That was one of the reasons where we just kind of said ‘okay, it’s maybe time to wrap this thing up.'”
