  • Mickie James Speaks On Her Current WWE Status, Talent In NXT & More

The following are highlights of a recent Baltimore Sun interview with Mickie James:

On current status with WWE: “I don’t really know … I mean, I know what sparked that interest in it was, me reaching out and seeing what opportunities were available, or any interest in me at all. And that’s when they talked about if I was interested in going down and working with the girls there, and feeling that whole trainer position out, and seeing if it was something that I was even good at. I’ve never trained anyone in my life. I’ve been fortunate enough to really work with amazing people and have incredible people lead me along the way. Any chance I had to work with Ricky Steamboat or Bobby Eaton, that’s what I did when I was trying to make it, was soak up knowledge from all those people before I went to developmental. I felt like developmental really was that fine-tuning experience with me. I can’t say that I’ve done all this stuff in wrestling, but at the same time, there is a bit of that humbleness that I feel like if I can give someone that knowledge, or pass something on that’s going to help them so perhaps they don’t make the same mistakes that you made, or it’s going to better them as a performer then you always want to give back. Someone told me a long time ago that you always want to leave the business better than you walked into it. This would be an opportunity to do that. Whether I’m in that right position right now, as far as being a trainer, I’m not sure. I have so much stuff going on right now between the music, and still wrestling, and other side projects I’m working on right now. And with that kind of job, I’d have to give up everything else, and I’m not sure if I’m in a place to do that right now. And obviously that could change tomorrow, but, who’s to say.”

On the stars and Divas of NXT: “I thought there were a handful of them with legit, real potential. Obviously, I thought Paige was amazing. I had met Paige before, back in England actually. I really like her. That was the first time I had worked with Emma, and I thought she was really good. Sasha Banks, I really like her a lot. She had a good personality and was really sharp, and had a great look and a great character. Yeah, there are definitely girls with potential there. You never know who’s going to be the next superstar. Some of them are just kind of getting their feet wet, and have a ways to go, but they could be the next superstars.”

“I just realized November is over… So I feel the need to reminisce… The 1st time I ever stepped into a ring was Nov 98′! In Manassas VA at a little school called KYDAPro. My 1st day of training I was learning the basics in a boxing ring that felt like cement. In the back of a martial arts center I fell in love with this crazy business & 15yrs later I couldn’t be any more in love. Through it all… The ups & downs & all arounds… The journey has molded me into who I am today! Not just in that squared circle but in life. I was born a fighter… It’s all I know… It’s all I’ll ever be! I want to thank all of you for being on this crazy road with me and supporting me in everything I do. Both in the ring and rocking the stage the last few years. I couldn’t be where I am and who I am without you alls loving support! I can’t truly express my gratitude for it. I just do my very best every time I’m in that beautiful spotlight. I thank you for giving me the chance to do that. Love ya Gang!”

Triple H & Stephanie Want Shane At WrestleMania, OVW Trainer Says Mickie James Should Compete

    – Triple H and Stephanie McMahon are interested in having Shane McMahon make an appearance at WrestleMania XXX in New Orleans, Louisiana, according to F4WOnline.com on Friday. No word yet on whether the former wrestling executive is interested.

McMahon left WWE in 2010 to pursue other opportunities. In July, McMahon voluntarily stepped down as CEO of YOU On Demand, whilst remaining YOD’s principal executive officer and Chairman of the Board.

    – In response to news of Mickie James appearing as a guest trainer for WWE’s female developmental talent at the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida this week, Ohio Valley Wrestling trainer Rip Rogers says the fourteen-year veteran, as well as WWE trainer Sara Del Rey, should be teaching them before live audiences.

“Mickie James can wrestle better than most of the guys- divas b in for a rude awakening,” Rogers remarked. “[James and Del Rey] should be on the road wrestling and make the girl wrestle every day in the ring on the road.”

Rogers explains that it’s not beneficial for inexperienced talent to be work with each other. “The only way to get good is have 1000 matches with vets leading u to get better – green leading green does not work,” he said.

Mickie James Speaks To WWE Website About A Possible Return, Her Visit To The Performance Center

Former WWE Women’s and Divas Champion Mickie James sparked rumors of a possible return to WWE this week by rekindling her relationship with the sports-entertainment organization. The Virginia-native is training the organization’s developmental female talent at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida for the week, and attended Thursday night’s NXT live event in Tampa. WWE.com caught up with James for an exclusive interview, as she discussed her trip to the Sunshine State, her recent endeavors and whether fans will see her return to the WWE ring.

In response to how her visit to the state-of-the-art facility materialized, James states, “I got a call from Talent Relations, and they asked if I would be interested in coming down, checking it out and working with some of the girls here. Of course, I jumped all over it; I was happy to do it. The place is amazing, it really is mind-blowing. We had all prayed for something like this [when we were] breaking in.”

In addition to teaching the girls how to wrestle, James focused on bringing their personalities out. She explains, “Mostly being vocal in the ring and being vocal while they’re working instead of just thinking about what their moves are and what they need to do in there. Actually being who they are.”

Though she came to Florida to assist WWE’s female developmental talent, James is still interested in returning the company as a performer.

“Of course, I would absolutely love that, but you never know,” James says in response to whether her visit to the WWE Performance Center means she’s coming back. “I’m just trying to take advantage of this opportunity. If I can pass a little knowledge of what I know, then hopefully that will do something, if not for me, then for the future of WWE and women’s wrestling itself.”

Should James return to WWE, she would be most interested in working with three particular Divas: Natalya, AJ Lee and Brie Bella.

“I would love to work with Natalya; we only had a couple matches when I was there. I would love to work with AJ Lee, and I think Brie [Bella] has really come a long way since I was in WWE, so I’d love to do some stuff with her,” remarked James.

James also recalls her career with WWE, including WrestleMania 22 and the “Piggy James” angle, and reveals which Divas at the WWE Performance Center stood out in her eyes. The full interview is available here.

  • Mickie James On Possibility Of Returning To TNA Now That They’re Back In Orlando

The following are highlights from a recent Diva-Dirt interview with former TNA Knockout Mickie James:

On the possibility that she’ll return to TNA now that they’re moving back to Orlando: “You know, you never know. Honestly you never know in this business, doors are always left open. I have nothing but respect for Dixie Carter and I feel its sad I didn’t get the chance to finish the storyline and the development of the character because I had a decision of where it would go prior to my departure, but a step away from it was a blessing in disguise and I have been able to see the big picture of things. I don’t know what will happen next, where I’m gonna end up, for all I know that could’ve been it. Where I end television wrestling. I don’t feel like I’m done, there is so much more I wanna do. Whether it be with TNA, WWE, the indies, or Japan. You never know whats next, I’m just waiting for the next opportunity.”

On the fact that the plan for her to drop the Knockouts Title came at the last minute: “Uh, that was more of a last minute decision, because you know my contract was about to expire. You can’t as a company have the championship on someone who isn’t employed. I understand the decision and respect it. There was no one better I would want to drop the title to. Jess is an amazing friend and I think she is an amazing wrestler and character. I’m glad they are doing something with her. Obviously we had a vision of that going much further then it actually did (BFG), but you know. Business is business.”

Mickie James Speaks On If She’s Done With Pro Wrestling, Her Music Career & More

The following are highlights from a recent Temple-News web interview with former TNA Knockout Mickie James:

On if she’s done with pro wrestling: “It’s certainly not the last time you’ll see me on television in a wrestling ring. I’m far from done. When I retire, I want to retire the right way. That’s what we all hope for, right?”

On balancing music and pro wrestling: “It’s one of those things where you have to make time and work around your schedule. Coming from the WWE where I was on the road 200 to 250 days of the year and then crossing over to TNA where the schedule was much lighter gave me some time to work on the music. But it’s not easy cash, I will say that.”

Mickie James Speaks On Her TNA Status, Pay Issues In TNA, Total Divas & More

The following are highlights from a recent RVA Magazine interview with former TNA Knockout and WWE Diva Mickie James:

On her TNA Impact Wrestling status: “I can’t really speak on my status right now. Honestly though, I’m not technically under contract with them right now. As far as TNA itself, I wasn’t at the last TV so I can’t speak on that. The company is in the midst of change obviously and that process of changing over.”

On recent changes and pay issues in TNA: “They’ve gone live on the road and they just brought in this new head of talent [John Gaburick] who was with WWE for twenty years or so. I feel like there’s good energy around it, but in the midst of change, people get scared and there’s a bit of that as well. It’s hard to really say. There were rumors and speculation about late paychecks, but my paycheck was never late. It’s not untrue though; I do know that was an issue with some of the people.”

On how the WWE Divas division has changed over the years: “Honestly, when I came in, there was still that Golden Era of Women’s wrestling for WWE. There was Trish [Stratus] and Lita there to legitimately pass that torch of credibility. They were genuine wrestling athletes. They weren’t just characters or beautiful women. They could go in there, wrestle like the men, kick serious ass, and hold that spot. I was very fortunate to have that coming in and be in that transitional phase. As they were leaving, it was myself, Melina, Beth Phoenix; all the girls that kind of grew up on the Indy scene. We all kind of came in that same way, that grass roots kind of way. We fought and clawed our way up the Indy scene to try and make a name for ourselves and build credibility just so WWE would take a look at us in the first place.”

On the WWE Total Divas reality show: “I don’t think that there’s anyone there who legitimately has had that torch passed to them in a way so that’s the main difference to me. There are obviously legit wrestlers like Nattie and I think Alicia Fox is great. I think it’d be great for someone to come in and take that division to a whole new level. I’m not sitting here burying those girls though because obviously they’re on TV, doing a great job, and they have the Divas reality show. I think that show is awesome because it’s giving depth to those characters that you wouldn’t necessarily know anything about other than they are great wrestlers. You don’t know anything about their personal lives and it’s kind of opening that door to get people more emotional invested into them. But yeah, I think having someone pass the torch would be great for those girls.”

Mickie James Speaks On Her Current TNA Status, Comparisons To AJ Lee & More

The following are highlights from a recent interview with former TNA Knockout Mickie James:

On her current status with TNA: “I mean I really don’t know. I’m not at liberty to say. I’m sure people can figure it out.”

On the difference in TNA running Impact Wrestling on the road and in Orlando: “Obviously there’s a huge difference. When we were in Orlando, you had vacationers but typically we had the same audience, the same hardcore audience that would come to every taping. I mean that was a cool factor but now being on the road, it’s different, the fans feel like they’re part of the show because it’s in their hometown, they’re gonna get a chance to get seen on TV ya know. I think it’s a great difference. You can see the energy of the show has changed, watching on TV and live, it transforms you as a performer. You feed off it I think.”

On the comparisons between her character in WWE in 2005 and the present-day AJ Lee character: “You know I’ve heard that and I’ve seen that. I feel like they’ve done it a bit different which is good because obviously you don’t want to do it the same.I did get a chance to see her segments with Stephanie backstage and things people have Tweeted me whether it’s mashups or different things. It’s a cool thing. Obviously we did something right the first time or you wouldn’t want to do it again with a different angle.”
